We were in town for one night and thought we would go out for beer. Our first stop of the evening was Pre Funk Beer Bar to try out some of the local craft beers. They have 20, yes 20 beers on tap. How does one choose.. If was a Friday night and when we arrived it was was busy and the beer was flowing and a live band playing outside on the patio. Does it get any better on a beautiful spring evening, live music and a delicious beer in hand. There is no food served inside of Pre Funk, however, the night that we were there Burgerlicious Food Truck was parked right out front serving of course burgers and fries. I didn't get a chance to try the burgers as we already had dinner plans but wow did they ever smell delicious and I was so very tempted. If I make my way back to Boise, I will definitely stop by Pre Funk again.

Great variety of beers on tap. They give each person two samples to try. Beers/prices are clearly displayed on a television screen, including price per size. The offer pints, rounds (you can buy the container for $5), and growlers (purchase the container for $7). Prices seemed reasonable with pints ranging from $4-6 I would say. Everything I tried was really really good. This is seriously the best place if you want to 'prefunk' or 'pregame' at is probably known as. Grab your growler, fill it up with amazing quality alcohol, drink up and then go DT. You'll save a lot and get a buzz on something that tastes a lot better than you'd get at other bars. I'm definitely a fan! Only downside is the place is kind of small and really close to the freeway exit. Can be kind of difficult to find parking or comfortable seating, but you take the good with the bad I guess!

Really fun bar we happened into while in Boise. The cider on tap was really good (even to a non-beer drinker). Good selection, friendly staff, fun music. A good time on a late Saturday night.

Wanna chill out and drink fantastic beer while watching cars pass by without feeling like the neighborhood drunk? This is your place! Abundant local micros and a great people/car watching venue add up to chillaxing out max without the judgment of the neighbors!

Great place to just grab a beer! Not all of their beers are Fat Tire, but there are a bunch of them. No food is the only downside.

Inviting environment 20 beers on tap. Makes a good selection decent prices from $4-7 a pint. Growlers, quarts and pints to go too.

Great little Beer bar! love the charming atmosphere, all the great brews on tap, and always nice conversation with the bartenders and you get to meet some really cool people from the community that enjoy quality beer! So pleased they are open in downtown Nampa! my dog Roxy loves it there as well!

My first and last impression of this place is... Sterile, uninviting, cheesy and contrived. It's got a shoddy sound system and a waste of a flat screen. Using it for their list of beers. It's called Pre-Funk but there were only 5 people there at 8 pm on a Saturday night. My husband and I had intended to purchase a growler but didn't find any of their beers growler worthy. I really dislike the fact that when they ran my debit card that my phone number popped up and gives you three percentage options to tip with. I don't want my phone number floating around and I most definitely should have the right to tip whatever amount I would like to tip. Whether it's a dollar for one beer or $10. Tacky. I just don't think the owner gets it. What a waste of prime real estate.

PreFunk is really cool and will be an asset to downtown Boise. They have an extensive selection of beers on tap, (almost 30 if I recall), as well as local sodas that can be purchased in pints or growlers. It looks like there is frequently a food truck parked in front as well.

Awesome crew here. Great music amazing scene. Food truck outside was on point. Bad ass margaritas pizza cooked perfectly. Paired perfectly with my 3x ipa :)

Good beer selection. Some bar tenders are more friendly than others (and some are more prone to mansplain than others). Prices have increased in the last year, which is understandable but no longer means it's a go to place.

This place is great, simply great They have a giant seleciton of beer, they have great prices, and they cycle through lots of beers that are always delicious. If you like Pale Ales: they have those If you like IPAs: they have those If you like Black ales: they have those If you like Lagers: they have those If you like Ciders: they have those If you like sour beers: they have those If you like Hefes: they have those And Every one is GREAT!! They have have an awesome variety, and the staff is always exceptional and wonderful to help out and let you try all of the beers to your heart's content. I have often found new beers here that I haven't seen on tap anywhere else, which leaves me craving more, and then have to go on adventures just to find them. Good examples of these are the beers 'Birthday Suit', 'La Folie', and a beer aged in wild turkey whiskey barrels. If you go there and Brock is working, he will take care of you ten-fold. Super nice guy that We have often talked to for a substantial amount of time. He knows beers, and knows them well, as well as knows how to describe them. another awesome thing: they fill growlers for cheap and they even can in house!!! the growlers are extra cheap between 4-6 pm, or on Sundays! if you like beer, go here!! The only thing holding it back is when its sunny out, sitting out on the asphalt cooks you far faster than is reasonably bearable. If they could just put down some good turf or rugs, it would help a lot!! otherwise, it is amazing!! Go here, try beer, find something new, you will be glad that you do!! Cheers!

I would give these guys 5 stars if they were not on a busy street. I liked the vibe here! This place was fun, low key, had good beers and fun friendly people. They had a miniature golf station made up of tires and junk out front. Come to find our there was a New Belgium beer tour happening at a few local places that folks were touring and playing rounds of mini-golf! My husband mention how fun that would have been to do but then as the swarm of 21 year olds came in to play their drunken round of mini-golf with their homemade putters ranging from hammers to bottle openers strapped to a stick, and little tykes plastic baseball bats, we realized we were out of our league. Made for good people watching anyway.

PreFunk is great for growler fills. They have a wide array of local beer and cider. I stopped in during the day on a Monday, so there were only a few people there. The bartender was quick to acknowledge me and check on me. It has a huge garage door that was opened to let the fresh air in. This would be a great place to get a beer with friends and enjoy the nice Boise weather.

I love to hang out here in the afternoon/evening when the weather is nice with a great cider. I love the variety of drinks they offer and am always inclined to try something new. Such a great, relaxing place to have a drink.
(4)Jonathan H.
Great drinks, awesome environment and a nice location. Really love the interior and the atmosphere of the place. The variety of drinks available is also pretty awesome. Love everything about the place!
(5)Rich L.
Great selection of beers on tap, awesome bartender. Glasses are not frosted or even cold. Traffic noise and the smell of burning tar from nearby construction aren't our thing.

LOVE that they have Radler here... Just like Germany!! The guys behind the bar were really nice with really nice hipster beards... SO I approve.
(5)Wm D.
Without a doubt my favorite place in Boise to have a beer or two. Great beer, neat people. ... And then that food truck pulls up and the planets align ... I'll be honest--it's where magic comes from.
(5)Daniel G.
Such a good spot. So many beers, constantly changing, and everyone who works here is way, way cool. Love PreFunk! Buy some merch!!
(5)Dustin K.
Just a hole in the wall, too close to the freeway, with lots and lots of great beer.
(4)Amy K.
Damn! I am a fan. We stopped in last night when they were doing a friends and family event and love the branding and the tap list. Deschutes Hop Squeezed, Highlands Hollow Spoon Tongue, Payette, Crooked Fence, the list goes on...I would say they may have close to 20 taps. Growlers will come in 2 sizes, 32 and 64 ounces. Great addition to Boise! Look for their soft opening Friday August 16th.

Aengus and I were on the road for 3000 miles and after driving around town were fortunate to find this bar. People always write on Facebook how fortunate or blessed they feel for one thing or another, but really, I am so blessed with beer to find this bar. Everyone was kind to Aengus, the food truck was great, the bartenders were super knowledgeable and friendly (really, they went out if their way), and the clientele made my evening. Thanks Boise for a great evening. I can only hope breakfast is as tasty.
(4)Brianne M.
Love the fact that they have so many beers to choose from. Down side is they don't have food. Also the fact that it is so open is really cool and inviting. I wish they had a beer list with descriptions.
(5)Will S.
Great selection of local beers on tap. Super friendly. Generous with tastings to ensure you are getting the beer you want. Chill "Guard Pomeranian" on site to lick up any spilled cerveza.
(5)Michelle T.
Great beer selection. Reasonably priced. Friendly and knowledgable staff!
(5)Lorelei A.
