Being a transplant from Oregon (10 years this June, how time flies!) I am no stranger to small batch breweries. This is the first opportunity I've taken to sample anything local in quite awhile and I have to say I'm impressed! Cloud 9, famous for it's small batch brewing, is also in a very small space. If you remember the Moxie Java tucked in the corner of the strip mall across 17th street from Albertsons on State, you know now where to find them! Since size is irrelevant in most things, that's just an aside. I found the vibe to be clean and open when I stepped into Cloud 9. They don't take reservations, and yeah, the place is small, so if you are going as a group either send a scout ahead or hope for a lull in patrons. The brew list is clearly recorded on chalkboards behind the bar- house brews as well as guest taps offer a wide variety of beers ranging from the palest pale ale to a murky dark and delightfully noted Salted Caramel Stout. Samplers, 8 ounces and pints make it easy for beer fans of all levels to sample and enjoy. I started with the stout- a big leap when my palate isn't what it once was in terms of handling 'thick' brews, but I knew right away it was the right choice for me. The sinus tingle waft of the salt as I raised the glass to experience the bouquet was the green flag and I that first taste pitched me a home run. I often find stouts, no matter what the brew master has mixed in to derail it, a bit too bitter for my palate. I was quite surprised to find that this wasn't the case with the Salted Caramel Stout at Cloud 9. I had first asked for a glass of the Orange Wit, but none was available- now I know why. I was meant for that stout! I would have likely quaffed the entire 8 ounces, except I hadn't eaten since lunch, I wanted to try more varieties and I didn't fancy having to make my way out the door on my lips.. so I put on the brakes while my companions for the evening made their choices. I perused the menu for a dinner choice. Offerings at Cloud 9 are spare in quantity but appear to be quite well thought out it terms of using fresh ingredients and artful preparation. I chose the Chicken Pesto Sandwich. A grilled chicken breast with mozzarella, tomato, lettuce and a generous slather of pesto on a roll. Choice of side dish included a salad, fresh cut fries, soup or a quinoa salad. I opted for the fries, along with a side of the homemade ketchup. While I waited for my food I conversed with my companions, sipped at my water and enjoyed sip after lovely sip of that stout. Having noted a Huckleberry Cream on guest tap, I decided that I had to give it a try. My food arrived, looking quite inviting. My first impression of the fries is that they were a bit soggy, but the flavors were there, and the homemade ketchup made up of the bit of limpness. The sandwich was tasty with just enough pesto and slices of wonderfully ripe tomato. The only thing I wished for was that the bun it was presented on had been warmed in some fashion, as it was cold to the touch. The Huckleberry Cream ale was a light and delightful counterpoint to the chicken sandwich, the garlic in the pesto helped to present the touch of sweetness in the ale to perfection. Cloud 9 is close to my place of employment. If not for the fact that it would get me in big trouble I'd tag it as an occasional stop for lunch! As it stands, I have added it to my list of places to linger at after work on a few summer evenings to come. I look forward to sampling other brews, both local, and appearing as guests. For 2 8oz glasses of loveliness and my dinner, I paid just over $16 and call it well worth it!

The food here is surprisingly exceptional for this small strip-mall based brewery. They use a lot of organic ingredients and try to use local products. The sauces are home-made. I have had their wilted Cesar kale salad, which is crave-able. You really can't go wring with the food. I am not a beer drinker but everyone I've gone with has enjoyed that side of it too. Service can be tricky, I think mainly because it's a small place but when both indoor and patio are packed, it can get slow and hard to waive some one down.

Cloud 9 is doing things right! Fresh beer, fresh food, fresh atmosphere! Very cool! Boise's first nanopub is a most welcome addition to the seemingly rapidly expanding food scene here in our little corner of the world. Cloud 9 fits right in, in its North End locale, with offerings of organic, locally sourced food and beverages. Yes, their food and beverage menu is small... they are after all a nanopub. But what they are peddling is top notch. Well done indeed! I will be back, with friends.

Service was great! Beer was abundant! Vibe was lively! We checked out this local nano brewery and had a great time. The organic beer is great with about 10 beers available. From NW IPAs to flavorful stouts, cloud 9 has a great beer for you. The food selections range from tasty hummus and a good selections of tacos. We highly recommend this nano pub to all beer enthusiasts. Cheers Always

Fun place to kick it on a lazy Saturday. There is a nice patio and clean interior with easy views of the tvs. Great beers, food and service! Nestled in the quaint north end. Great shopping located near buy.

Cloud 9 is far more than your typical brew pub... Indeed, to characterize them as such would be tremendously unfair. To be clear, the beer is amazing and offers reason enough to visit (worth highlighting are the Salted Carmel Stout for those who like it on the heavier side or the Lemon Ginger Wheat for those with a lighter pallet); however, a sampling of their menu offers a truly magical gastronomic experience. Their consistency coupled with a masterful ability to season/prepare each dish impeccably puts the stalwarts of the Boise restaurant community to shame (the blue cheese fries cannot be missed, they will become your next addiction). If the tables are full, put your name on the wait list and enjoy a stroll through the north end... It will most definitely be worth it.

I really wanted to love this place. It's not for lack of service. Every time we have been here the staff has been really nice and polite. I've tried a few of the beers and they are decent. I love the concept of a nano brewery and small batch beer. One thing I typically love about these small breweries is the usually outstanding gastropub food. Unfortunately cloud 9 is consistently under par. We've come in3 times now and ordered3 different options. Each time it ranges from lackluster to down right inedible. The burger was so over cooked and over salted I couldn't eat it. The chicken pesto sandwich was also bland and flavorless. The skewers were paltry and over cooked. It's sad because again the staff is nice the concept is great but if you go don't waste your time on the food.

I have to say I really don't like ipa's but I was pleasantly surprised by the 'never say never' ipa that's totally untraditional. The cod Korean bbq taco is honestly the best fish taco I've ever had, slightly spicy and tender fish, not overcooked. The service was great, the female bar tender went though and without me even having to ask let me try 4 of the beers until I found one I really liked. If you like mead but hate how sweet it can be the honey basil beer is a great compromise. I gave a 4 because while the beef skewers were very tender and well cooked they lacked in the rosemary garlic flavor but the horse radish dip was excellent. Overall a great experience!

Excellent atmosphere, beer and food. Dog-friendly patio. The perfect place to spend a summer afternoon in the north end!

Cloud Nine is my neighborhood pub. This micro brewery has a selection of their popular brews plus rotating taps featuring future favorites. The fare may surpass the brews. I love visiting for a beer, but I stay for the meal.

Introduced to this place by a gluten free co-worker. WOW!!!! This is one of the few places in the area that you can get amazing gluten free and vegan food! even if you aren't vegan/veg, their other food is still amazing! all local, organic, and delicious! service is great! restaurant is a little small, but i hope they are able to expand! They could really be the next big thing! I haven't had their beer because i'm more of a wine girl myself, and every time i've gone has been for lunch when i have to go back to work after, but i've had their root beer, and i should say, i've never liked the taste of root beer ever. This root beer was GOOD! my family and i are hooked! we just wish we could afford to eat there all the time! it is a little bit pricey, but the quality makes it well worth it!
(5)Natán Q.
I'm very impressed with this place. Their service is great and their beers are just amazing. What got me is their food which is even more amazing. The lamb sandwich with lentil soup is a must have. The place is a little small so it can get crowded quickly but they do have outside seating.
(5)Annette B.
This is a North End gem (and Boise gem overall). We live nearby and visit frequently. For out of towners who want to mingle with locals instead of other tourists, pick Cloud 9! For anyone not wanting to deal with finding downtown Boise parking, their location is at the edge of a large parking lot with lots of space. True, they are in a small strip mall but this aspect is kind of irrelevant because they are in a nice tucked away corner. They serve light, fresh delicious entrees that easily make a plentiful meal.
(5)Daniel M.
Best hand crafted root beer i have ever tasted. Blue cheese fries are also very tasty. Had the burger twice and was less than impressed, dry and lacked any memorable flavor.
(3)Leeann R.
Always interested in trying a new organic microbrew. The beers were very sweet. Not sweet like wow sweet like sugar. The food was okay the pesto sandwich we had was very bland the hamburger was good the salad was good the dressings were kind of strange. The service was great the people were nice! Overall so-so.

The Mister and I have been to Cloud 9 twice now and both times have been very impressed by their wonderful small batch beers, fresh seasonal menu, and friendly service. The brewery and pub are both located in the same small space in a north end strip-mall; which is the rare combination of being both car friendly, with ample parking, and bike/pedestrian friendly with bike racks and well maintained sidewalks that lead into one of Boise's most sought after historic neighborhoods. There is limited seating in the venue itself, this is a "nanopub" after all, with a handful of tables and bar stools. Yet if the weather is nice they have additional seating on the "patio" which is basically the partially covered deep sidewalk out front. Cloud 9 is a certified organic brewery and tries to source all of their ingredients locally whenever possible. The menu reflects this desire to remain organic and local by changing often to serve what is seasonal and available. So far I've sampled the Beet Salad, Street Tacos, Blue Cheese Fries, and Mac & Cheese and everything has been excellent. As far as beer goes I haven't had anything I didn't like, but my two favorites were the Lemon Ginger Wheat (summer in a glass) and the Salted Caramel Stout (the perfect dessert). As this is a relatively new establishment I went in ready for spotty service, as I always think new restaurants need a couple months learning curve to get fully in the swing of things, but I was pleasantly surprised both times. The service was excellent, efficient and friendly, and our food and drinks came out quickly. All in all this is a great local nanopub and we will definitely be going back.
(4)Karly H.
The Mac and cheese is outstanding and so are their IPAs. Awesome people, dog-friendly patio, and good food and drink? How can it get better? The early grey stout that's on rotating right now is a nice rich brew with the dark floral backing of the tea itself; a little smoky, a little chocolate-creamy, and deliciously lacy foam. I'd absolutely recommend this place to anyone who's into craft beer and good food. Bonus points for organic beer and vegetation/gluten-free options. This place should become a Boise staple for sure.
(4)Kelly W.
I was really hopeful about both the beer and food at Cloud 9 after reading so many positive reviews. Unfortunately, my experience differed than most. I ordered the Black IPA which was not much of an IPA but more of a full bodied porter. Not what I was expecting but the best beer of the night. I went out on a limb to try the Honey Basil Ale--not usually my beer of choice but based on such high reviews I was willing to try. It was not drinkable. Flat and watery with a taste of honey only. I went to the bar to tell my less than responsive server to ask for a replacement. She passed off my complaint suggesting the beer needed carbonation. Well, yes it did! No commentary or explanation needed. I ordered the 7 Grain Porter as a replacement. Not very memorable. The food was just ok. The lamb burger was over cooked when I had ordered medium. The side grilled kale Caesar salad with croutons and dressing were the saving grace and the buns were good too.
(2)Justin H.
Finally tried the double IPA and salted caramel stout. Without sounding like a jerk, hopefully, they weren't my favorite brews by Cloud 9, but they were definitely quaffable. The food still rocks it out and I think the daily specials are getting better (looking, anyway, as I still stick to my tacos and wilted kale caesar salad). New complaint: any time we come after sundown, THERE'S NOT A TABLE TO BE FOUND! This place is just killing it, so we either have to plan ahead or show up during the day (which is great on a Sunday after a run through Anne Morrison or a hike behind Camel's Back Park). Can't wait for warmer weather and more daylight, when we can utilize their patio seating.

I really wanted to love this place. I'm all about supporting the local, and these guys do local and are loved by locals. Our Air B&B hosts recommended them enthusiastically. I was excited to learn that Cloud 9 is the only certified organic brewery in Idaho: Yay! Unfortunately, it just wasn't what I'd hoped. Our server was a smart ass from the get-go -- which can be okay if there's a tinge of humor behind it, but I wasn't feeling that. We wanted to sit outdoors, luckily, given that there were no tables available inside. It had rained an hour or so earlier, so I asked her to wipe the seat down. She proceeded to mop up the puddles on the table instead, then grudgingly gave a cursory swipe to the seat when prompted, saying it would do no good and she didn't have "a magic cloth." Next, the beers... I was excited to try two of them. First up, the Earl Grey Stout. There was a tinge of smoke but no hint of bergamot, and after trying my companion's black IPA, a much richer and more full-bodied brew, I wondered if our server hadn't confused the glasses. Drinkable but not memorable. I ordered a burger with pepper jack cheese and fries and asked that it be cooked medium rare. It came well done, which was sad for such quality beef. Same with my friend's lamb burger: she asked for medium and received well-done, so perhaps that was the cook's setting for the night. Oh, well: I can eat beef however it is presented, so I didn't complain. The fries, BTW, were excellent, and the ketchup tasted homemade (nicely spiced). On to the Salted Caramel Stout. Sounds lovely, but honestly, I couldn't tell the difference between it and the Earl Grey. Again, drinkable, but forgettable. The worst part of it all was my companion's Honey Basil Ale: completely flat, and it tasted like drinking water with a bit of honey added. Friend asked that it be replaced and the server argued with her, saying it "just needed carbonation." Huh? Yes, it was flat, reason enough to send it back. The replacement finally came, and again was utterly forgettable. We ordered desserts, and my creme brûlée was passable. Altogether a disappointing experience. Normally I'd assume it was just an off night, given all the raves, and would try it again. I'm headed home tomorrow, though... And not entirely certain I would go back for more.

Had the Salmon sandwich with kale Cesar salad, really good ,lots of flavors from the salmon, paired with a west coast IPA
(5)Kyle C.
Visually, this spot is great. Somewhat industrial with the metal worked tap handles, chairs, and concrete bar top. Chalkboard menu was slick and the brewing equipment visible from the dining area. I support any place that brews there own beer too. Though I didn't eat there, the menu items sounded delicious and inventive. So why two stars? The beer just didn't sit with me very well. I had their American IPA first and it had a strange after taste I couldn't put my finger on. I thought that maybe I got a weird glass or something, so I tried their double black IPA next. It was much better, but still slightly off. I love supporting local beers and I wanted to like this place a lot. I'm the type to always get back up on the horse, so if I'm in the area again, I would at least give them another shot, but as it stands now, I wasn't blown away like I was hoping to be.
(2)Jeremy L.
It was good! Food was good and the beer I had was great. Server was friendly and super fast. If I have 1 negative would be size. Seemed crowded inside so we sat outside which would have been great if it was warm. Great job
(4)Emily H.
Solid beers here with full flavor. We did a sampling, and my favorite was their salted caramel stout - just the right combo of sweet and smoky. I also enjoyed the blonde, which was refreshing but still flavorful. Wasn't a huge fan of the pumpkin ale - had an odd aftertaste. And the roggenbier didn't quite live up to expectations, but to be fair, I am comparing against Reuben's in Seattle, which I think has the yummiest Roggenbier this side of the galaxy. The location is in an old strip mall, so not an A+ for ambiance. However they have done a great job with this space. The day's beer selections are listed on cute chalkboards behind the bar, and there are TVs to catch the day's game. Service was friendly and attentive, and all-in-all we had a fun experience here.
(4)Michele R.
Nano brewery and brew pub with small menu of items made from mostly organic and sustainable ingredients with friendly people working there and an "all are welcome here" vibe has limited indoor seating and outdoor patio for drinking and dining in nice weather located in a strip mall in the North End. There were many things to like here, Were I of the neighborhood I might make this a regular stop. In fact on the day of my hubby's and my late lunch visit to Cloud 9 it seemed as if the fifteen or so folks who were present when we arrived and the dozen or so still present when we left who ranged in age from toddlers to septuagenarians seemed to be neighborhood folks. We can see why this could be a convenient and welcoming gathering place for them. But it would not necessarily be a destination place for us again. Here's why: *Although the food was a good value (lunch for two plus two root beers was only about $21) and good enough in flavor it was not so good as to make us want to go back for food alone. As example, some of the salad greens had seen fresher days but the salad dressing was delicious. The sweet potato soup was good but not better than I can do at home. *We don't drink beer, so that wouldn't be our destination draw here and while their house brewed root beer was interesting enough, it was not so interesting that we'd have it again. It was also served too warm, nearly room temperature. *While the servers, two on duty and one tended bar as well, were friendly the service ws so inefficient that even with arrival just before 2:00 and few orders coming out of the kitchen, it seemed folks there were mostly enjoying libations, it took well over an hour for lunch. Much of the time spent waiting to have our order taken and then waiting on the soup and salad and simple sandwich to come out of the kitchen. So while we're unlikely to return ourselves as destination and not sure we'd recommend it to others as destination, we would recommend this as convenience if you're in the neighborhood anyway. THIS N THAT 1) PARKING: Ample amount in strip mall lot. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: Level in and all on one floor. Standard height tables line the wall. 3) MINORS: Welcome to be seated at tables but not at bar seating. 4) PATIO: Seemed pretty nice to us but our server said they were improving it to add bench seating around the perimeter and replace the currently rented tables and chairs with something more hip. 5) TIMING IS EVERYTHING: Noting some reviewers talk about packed house here, if you're looking for lots of open seating, mid afternoon, like 2:00-ish is a good time for few people. 6) GREAT NEIGHBOR: Janjou Patisserie is right next door. Now THAT is a destination stop!
(3)Justin R.
This place is fun - and will likely continue to progress into a solid brewery. For now, they have a few small things to work on and the beer could still take another step forward. The Dandelion Ale is pretty spectacular, so I'd expect them to start working more with herbal/fruit type renditions but we will see.

Cloud 9 is an awesome name. And, if you order their Bleu Cheese Fries, it's not only an awesome name, it's apt. Came here on a Thursday night for a UYE I organized where 8-10 people were expected. They don't take reservations, so I got there a 1/2 hour early to try to get enough seating for us all. The two servers who were working were so completely lovely and accommodating--as the place began to fill and I'm by myself hoarding a table for 8. Seriously. I realize in a place this small, my table saving wasn't terribly convenient and so I really appreciated their understanding. So, having said that--I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place if you've a large group. They've only just recently opened and word has spread quickly, as they are standing room only on most Thurs, Fri, and Sat nights. But, my people, great energy abounds in this place. It's a true neighborhood joint hidden in the back of the strip mall by the original Albertson's. And, though I'm not a beer drinker, my main dining companion is a big fan of their salted caramel stout. Their food menu isn't expansive but what is there is quality and farm to table fresh. Plus, not to look like a complete dork to all you beer drinkers--but their nano-brewed root beer is pretty dang fabulous. Really! Even for grown-ups. What else? I did mention the fries drenched in creamy bleu cheese sauce and topped with bleu cheese and bacon crumbles? And, it's ability to transport you directly to the metaphorical Cloud 9, while you sit in the literal Cloud 9? Then, my people, I have nothing more to say. If bleu cheese and bacon crumbles don't sway you--nothing will! Get to it!

My parents live in the North End so this is a very convenient spot to check out when I visit; a brewery within even closer walking distance! The two times I have been there I have been very happy with their beer, and you can order half glasses if you like to try a few beers, which I appreciate. The one time I ordered food here I think (though am not entirely sure) it gave me a bout of food poisoning (undercooked chicken will do that) that had two of us laying low for a few days. By the time we did the sleuthing and narrowed it down, we were in the mountains. In summary I definitely recommend the beer but check your chicken before chowing down!
(4)Tanya V.
Small but nicely done restaurant and bar. There were healthy items as well as typical pub fare on the menu. Loved the porter! I hade a kale Caesar with chicken that was good but I'd like to try their Mac n Cheese soon.
(5)Wild B.
Waitress was very friendly and informative about their beers. The next time I'm in Boise ID, I will be back.
(5)Alyse H.
Cloud 9 had a ton of beers available on the night we were there, so we were really please with the variety and selection. The flavor of the beer was also really good. The place was almost packed save for the tiny table we ended up sitting at. There was a Boise state game on and everyone was sitting there watching, including the bartenders, so it was a little difficult to get anyone's attention. I had to walk up to the bar to get our check because we were sick of waiting for the server to come over. I would try this place again because it was cozy and I like the beer. Don't count this place out, just don't count on fast or terribly attentive service.
(3)Joby H.
Well Maggie and James are fantastic. The beer they serve is always very good. The food is excellent. The fish and chips are tasty. The bread pudding is definitely comparable to the bread pudding I get when I am home in New Orleans. Blue cheese fries are to die for. I keep coming back because it is the all around fun place to be.
(5)Melissa K.
I really love the atmosphere of a good brewery. They always seems to attract the same "type" of people. Not really sure how to define the "type", but I think many of you will know what I mean. There is just generally a good vibe, good beer and good food. I don't think I would define Cloud 9 as the best brewery I've ever visited, however I would say that it deserves a solid 3. The location is unexpected and quite frankly a little odd. Found in the back corner of a strip mall, just doesn't seem to flow in my opinion. In fact, I don't think I would have driven back looking for it, if my GPS didn't tell me "I had arrived." That being said, it definitely is not a brewery the average joe would happen to drive by and make a mental note to try it someday. I think most find this location, based on word of mouth or a search on yelp for breweries. The building itself is very, very small. I believe I was told it used to be a Moxie Java, so that gives you some kind of visual for space constraints. They do not take reservations, which opposes somewhat of a problem if you are meeting a rather large group of people there. (which was the case for my visit). Second trip for an UYE. The serving staff was very friendly and attentive. They didn't bat an eyelash at our large group with requests for so many split checks. And later when we reviewed our bill and realized we had been overcharged, there was no question about fixing it. The food selection is limited, but they do only offer farm fresh options and I would assume they do not sell a TON of meals each night, so I can understand the quality over quantity concept here. That being said, I was impressed that they offered gluten free mac and cheese. Which is what I chose to give a try. It was honestly just okay. The first couple bites were good, but then I realized the cheesiness was just kind of flat. I added chicken for some extra protein and ended up paying $14 for the meal. Seemed a bit steep for a small bout of mac and cheese. Side options were limited. I thought the quinoa salad was a no brainer, but it also fell a little flat somehow. I do have to give them serious props for offering Omission on their beer list. For those not familiar with it, this is a GF beer. I honestly very rarely run across this, especially in a brewery; let alone a nano-brewery. So good for you Cloud 9, thank you for allowing an outside beer in your brewery for those that sadly can't drink the real stuff. I did take a few sips of the good stuff, because I mean how can I resist. This is what a brewery is known for and how can I provide a solid review without? The honey ginger was light and refreshing. The huckleberry cream smelled fantastic, but seemed to almost have a weird aftertaste. Basically tasted nothing like it smelled. All in all, probably not on my top 3 list of breweries; but I also honestly don't come to this part of town frequently anyways; so that doesn't really help their cause.

Had a nice DIPA to drink. Very smooth, and not over the top. The Scotch wee heavy is pretty decent as well. Had a nice lunch special of fried steak strips. They were awesome! Ordered a cup of soup to complete the lunch ensemble. It was a potato, kielbasa, and kale concoction that warmed the cockles of my cold heart from the inside out. What can I say? It was pub are done amazingly well. Good hearty simple food. I was served by a pleasant longer haired bearded gent, who knew his shit about the brews. Service was quick and attentive. Very nice guy, made me feel welcome. Well done. I will definitely be back again some day!
(4)Taylor C.
We had lunch at Cloud Nine yesterday and had a great time. Although they are a small brewery. ... Only 1300 Sq ft. They have a lot to offer. For only being open a few months this micro brewery run smooth and they have a large selection of craft beer which is all from organic grains. I would like to see more dark beers in the future. I ordered a burger, my wife ordered an apple pecan salad and for our boys the bacon mac and cheeze. The presentation of the food was beautiful and it tasted just as good. Well Done Next time we are in Boise we will differently stop in.
(5)Michael B.
First and foremost, GREAT service here... especially for just having opened, it was really impressive how personable and capable the bartenders/servers were. At one point, there was one person working the entire front of the house, and it got really packed - she somehow managed to keep her cool and continued to be very friendly - an employee from the back of the house came up to offer help with anything she could. Whoever was in charge of hiring them, good call! Now for the food and beer. Beer was delicious... I had the salted caramel stout, followed by an IPA - both tasted great. My wife ordered the blonde and really enjoyed it as well. It was fun to be able to watch the brewers in the back from our seats at the bar. For an appetizer, we tried the beet street tacos - sounded a little strange with pickled beets and ancho cabbage slaw, but they were DELICIOUS. They also were full-sized tacos, bigger than we expected. For the main course, I got the burger and fries. Gaston's bun was delicious as always, and the burger had a great, savory flavor to it. Would definitely order it again. Fries with homemade ketchup were delicious as always - my wife almost got smacked for stealing some! As for her, she ordered the macaroni and cheese and absolutely loved it - extremely creamy, came out piping hot with a crispy panko topping on it. Overall, awesome drinks, awesome meals. We will DEFINITELY be going back. Because the menu is so small, I hope they will continue to change and update it so that people who want to frequent the pub can continue to try new dishes.

Macaroni and cheese! YAY!!!!! And fresh made beer! NOT YAY!!!!! I unfortunately am not 21. However my dad tells me it was good! Anyway the macaroni was good, home made and filling! Also the fries were hand-cut, and the ketchup was home made. The service was amazing and the atmosphere was great! Keep it up Cloud 9! I will definitely be back! I know you just started! I would love to see an expanded food menu!
(5)Harold P.
Great place with 12 beers on tap - all brewed on-site. The seating is a little snug, but they've got patio seating as well as indoor seating. I had a glass of their "XPA" (an experimental pale ale) that was divine!

Great beer in a small spot in a mall but the beer is outstanding and the staff was great. Give it a try. Well worth your time.
(5)Ann R.
A wonderful hidden gem! We came by on a lazy Sunday and to my delight...I learned that Saturday and Sunday they run a few amazing brunch-type items. Kurobuta ham eggs Benedict with house made English muffins and (perfectly poached eggs) were on special. I've never had freshly made English muffins but now I have experienced nirvana. Reviewing the menu and the specials on the chalkboard show me that local, organic and house made are really important here (no idea how the tiny kitchen keeps up). Wanted to order everything. I had to come in for lunch today so I could get stout battered fish and chips, all I can say is yum! Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the beer...so good. I absolutely love craft beer and the brewmaster at cloud 9 has me on cloud 9. I like all styles, from light to hoppy to dark and I enjoyed a flight of their beers and was completely amazed at the complexity of honey basil the smooth finish of salted caramel stout and the surprisingly subtle yet hoppy double ipa. This will be a return visit (twice a week at least) can't wait to see what seasonal treats await.

This lived up to the hype! We kept trying to get here and last night we stopped by. The patio was inviting and the seating was better than normal patio seating so we decided on that because of the beautiful weather. Our server was very knowledgeable of the different beers and food specials. I started out with the Salted Caramel Stout, and the wife had their malbec, which were both great. The Salted Caramel tasted like a Guinness with a fresh twist and wasn't quite as heavy. I had the classic burger and she had the Apple Pecan Salad. The food came out quick and was skillfully made. The meat and veggies were all very fresh and flavorful without having to drown it in ranch or mayo. The second beer I had was the Never Say Never IPA, which was the highlight of the evening. Very tasty for an IPA but not as hoppy as I expected. It was an beer I'd give to someone just starting out on IPAs. Went down smooth, light and refreshing. Perfect for a July evening. As an added bonus, they accidentally poured an extra one and gave it to us! So I was feeling it when I left. The wife finished with the chocolate mousse dessert which was tasty but unmemorable. The one knock I would give it would be the location, as it's right next to an Anytime Fitness and you can see people on the treadmills. I'm excited to go again, and since it's walking distance from my house I feel like I'll be there a lot!

I had to come back and update my review for the Kale Caesar Salad alone. Seriously. Ok, fine, and I had a really great server this time too. But the salad! I'm not even much of a salad person, but I got this salad (with the wild-caught salmon) and I can't stop thinking about it, it was that good. I couldn't tell you what was so great about it (if I could I'd have it every night for dinner for the next month), just try it. I do still have to stand by my original review and advise against getting the horribly overpriced tasters. I feel like they're doing themselves a bit of a disservice with that. But, everything on my last visit was great.

Amazing beer and food, best brewery around that combines tremendous selection, taste for the beers. Only complaint was no lager on tap but they might not have that capability yet. Every ale was great. Food was really great all around. Blue cheese fries are a must have and the Pot Roast special was super special. Fish tacos were nice also. I will return often to this special corner of Boise.

This is one of my favorite new places in Boise. I'm a huge craft beer fan so I was excited about this new nano brewery opening up. But this is a great all-around neighborhood restaurant brewery. They always have an excellent assortment of beers, including guest taps. Their salted caramel stout and IPAs are excellent. Their approach to their menu & business is part of the new trend towards organic and local. I'm a huge fan of this trend. The menu is never boring. Tasty and healthy options. The menu is simple but varied. There are standard items like slides (grass-fed beef), fries, and salads but also unique specials. Everything is done with a unique, special touch that makes their menu fun to explore and enjoyable. Quality is the name of the game. The place is small but hip and very comfortable. Small bar. The patio has added a lot of seating to this small restaurant. Good, friendly service too. This a nice, small neighborhood brewery & restaurant with the creativity & quality of downtown eatery. Very Boise. Very good. Check them out!

I would like to call myself a Brewery Connoisseur but the reality is that I just like Breweries! I like the sound, smell and atmosphere a brewery gives to a relaxing dinner. My first though about Cloud 9 was, am I in the right place? My GPS said I had arrived but it sure didn't seem like it. In fact, if I didn't have to drive to the end of the parking lot to turn around, I would have missed it. Let me clear up one very important detail, Cloud 9 is an upscale pub not a Brewery. Don't get me wrong, it is definitely a brewery that brews some very creative and unique beers, but all in all it is a very nice pub. I really enjoyed the IPA! The food was pretty good but a little over priced for the quality of ingredients and setting. The one thing that really through me for a loop was when I used the restroom there was no sink to wash my hands!!!!!!!!! Seriously, a "brewery" where people frequently have one to many drinks and have a hard time aiming, if you know what I mean, and no sink to wash there hands! That's crazy!!! But I was wrong, there was a sink. It was outside the bathroom right next to the kitchen. Yes, that's right..... I watched a salad being made while I washed my hands. Anyway, it is a nice place and if you like beer you would be doing yourself an injustice if you didn't give it a try.

The server we had was horrible. Sami checked on us maybe twice the entire meal, forgot that we had ordered an appetizer, either it was lost or she never rang it in. My boyfriend's hamburger was well done, not medium rare like he had asked. When we sat down we had some questions about the beer selection. While Sami tried to answer our questions she seemed frustrated and it would have been easier to simply see a drink menu, which she never gave us. The beer was terrible, both the porter and IPA were extremely watery and not flavorful. Very poor experience overall

I am excited to have this place in the neighborhood. It's a little small so getting a place to sit can be tough. They also were out of a couple of beers both times I visited. The beer is good. But the atmosphere and food is what is more likely to bring me back.

I was excited when I first learned about Boise's first nano pub. The resurgence of old-fashioned neighborhood public houses, easily accessible by bike and foot is something that would fit well into Boise's downtown and North-end communities. Craft beer has gone mainstream in Idaho! Now that more fresh ale is available on tap in Boise, beer drinkers will start to take notice of the quality of the beer they drink. Reading the reviews on Yelp, I was really surprised that few of you commented on the beer itself. Regardless of atmosphere, food, etc. so long as you are calling yourself a brewery, you have to get the beer right. Period. Yelpers rave about the dessert, but the beer is what makes or breaks you. I don't recall ever saying, "Bro, want to go grab a creme brûlée?" I first came to Cloud9 their opening week, and their beer reminded me of my first foray into homebrewing. I brought my family comprised of self-ascribed beer fanatics, crammed ourselves into their too-small dining room each ordering a different beer option from the menu. Beers were flat, opaque, and off-tasting. Nobody finished theirs. I am not very picky about beer, what I like is a good-quality pale ale. Simple. A few months passed, I revisited Cloud9 last week. The Pale ale had improved slightly in flavor, but was still flat! I've had cask beers with more carbonation in them. Two other people at my table got the Aphrodite and IPA, also extremely under carbonated, and "unpalatable." I have not had the opportunity to sample their food, simply because it's nice to have a beer with your meal, but we didn't want to drink any more of their beer. Furthermore, the waitstaff never asked us "how do you like your beer?" They must notice when they clear a table of full pints left by their unsatisfied guests. I would assume that a business just starting out would welcome feedback from its customers. I had hoped that a couple of months would have been sufficient to correct any hiccups. I desperately want Cloud9 to succeed. But, they need to figure out their brewing process and customer service fast. More breweries are slated to open in Boise, and others are starting to close. Good luck Cloud9.

Dropped in to try a beer after work on their second day in business. This is Idaho's first organic nanobrewery. It is a small space, but very well done. The double IPA was one of the best I have ever had. I did not get a chance to try the food, but it looked really good. I Will definetly be back with my wife for a dinner date!

Love the atmosphere of this new place. Happened to stop by on their opening night and while it was very busy the service was still quick. The two beers I had are possibly my new favorites among the local breweries. Some of the beers were organic and the rest 99% (hops). Looking forward to their beers to come.

After 3 visits to Cloud 9, I am starting to see some themes. The first and most prominent is the weak service. The waitstaff is grossly under-staffed. When the waitress is giving us a rag to clean or own tables, water glasses sit empty, and we sit at the table for 10 minutes before getting attention, something is wrong. I sat at the bar one of the three visits and was well attended to by the bartender. While sitting at the tables, however, I really wished I had ordered two beers. It really does take that long to get not only what you ordered, but someone to take that order. The waitstaff is pleasant but the service is one star worthy. The food is the second theme and is a much more positive experience, although slow also. This place has the second best fish n' chips in town! I would not hesitate to order it again. The tacos were okay as was the quinoa, black bean salad. The kale salad was nice, although they were out on one occasion. They have different dinner specials and the chicken sandwich I ordered one day was good. The food gets four stars! The beer is the primary theme but not that remarkable. I am more likely to go to Cloud 9 for the food and avoid it for the service. The beer is unique and creative. However, the brewing has an amateur flair to it that sometimes results in the beer being flat and at other times, far too sweet, far too hoppy, far too citrus flavored, or far too much of something. Visit Cloud 9 if you are in the area, but expect service to be slow if you are sitting anywhere other than the actual concrete molded bar. Have some food and you likely will be satisfied. Have a beer and you are not likely to be disappointed, but you won't feel like you are on Cloud 9 on your way to heaven.

Good beers. Great Service and location. Excited to try the food. The french bakery next door is OUTSTANDING as well.

I agree with prior reviews that the service here is great. It's always busy at Cloud 9, and of course has a very North Endy ambience. It's only a few blocks from my house so I am hoping to go there frequently, but I have to say that the beer just seems kind of flat. Food okay but not spectacular despite the labels of "organic" and "local". Specifics? Bun on sliders was kind of stale. My wife felt the mac/chz run of the mill although I did like it. Salad was good. I'll keep stopping by to try the various beers and see if I can't find something I like more.
