This is my go-to wine and dine al fresco spot in Boise. The patio, which is accented with beautiful flower pots, is a great place to people watch on a lazy Sunday morning, or during happy hour after work. A friendly staff, combined with reliable food and a relaxing ambience, is what makes this place a must-stop whenever I'm in town.

Great food, great service, great fireplace. Get the cheeseplate! Nice atmosphere. Great salads! I like to sit next to the fireplace on chilly nights.

This used to be my favorite place to go for fresh, delicious salads. Their steak salad was a family favorite, where literally everyone at the table would order it for dinner (my cousin will normally order two entrees). When the steak salad was taken off the menu, it was devastating to say the least... however, we were able to construct a similar salad with steak skewers, subbing dressing, subbing for spinach etc. That was fine until once I was accidentally charged $20 per salad (which is pretty high in my book for a salad), the manager on duty totally rectified the situation so we are all good there. I just glanced at the menu and noticed that they have taken the spinach salad off as well so I am bummed to see that I probably won't be able to "build my own salad".... any chance management has considered bringing back the steak salad with gorgonzola dressing and crumbles? My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

The honey, blue cheese, dates with Kurobuta bacon appetizer is to die for. Drink pours are weak and service is not very attentive. The servers look like 2 beagles in a poodle suit (way Tooooo much girl in way tooooo little clothes and they aren't THAT hot!!) . +! for the misters that keep the temperature down.

Came on mothers days and we left very disappointed. It took 10 minutes to get greeted and another 8 minutes to get our coffee. We ordered the burger which was the best part of the visit, biscuits and gravy were extremely hard and was not able to finish it. I informed our waitress of my allergy to tomatoes and my burger came with tomatoes. They took my burger back and I got it back 2 minutes later which meant that my burger was probably contaminated.... Refills on coffee were by request only and took several minutes to flag a server down. Patio was nice though :-) We were on the patio next to the bussing station. The server was a brunette with longer brown hair, pulled up in a bun. Sorry didn't look at her name on the receipt and she did not tell us when she greeted us.

Good spot to hangout after a long mtb ride at Hulls Gulch. The real winner was the bacon wrapped dates, so decadent and savory they were a great combination of sweet, savory, and creamy with the blue cheese. The wings were spot on, nice and crispy and saucy all at once. The bruschetta was also perfectly prepared. All-in-all it was a very good appetizer spread and the service was good. Can't complain about any of my experience so far!

What nice find in Hide Park. Great patio and located in what is listed as the hippest place in Boise.

Great beer/cocktail selections. Cool place to hang out. Food very ordinary. Keep trying different things and am dissatisfied. Most recently the steak sandwich was overcooked and very skimpy!

Brian D took my thoughts and wrote them all down already, but I'll add some. PLEASE give everyone an explanation as to why in the world you would name your place the 13th st Pub and Grill when the Hyde Park Pub and Grill has been a block away for years. Is this a direct FU to those guys? Seriously, why? Anyway, my wife really wanted to check out the "Grand Opening", so we went and checked it out. The big sign over the door said, "Grand Opening Food and Drink Specials." When I asked the waitress what the grand opening specials were, she told me there were none, "but it is happy hour." We looked over the menu and decided that the wife should drink her already ordered beer and we should get the hell out of there. Why would we pay the same price for a menu copied almost exactly from Bittercreek Ale House (without the quality ingredients) from a place that copied it's name from a block away? There was a band setting up in the back parking area and some BBq's back there. When I asked the unfriendly bouncer what kind of food they had back there, he told me hot dogs and hamburgers. Ummm, really. Parilla owner dude, get your first restaurant's food to safety standards before copying everyone else's ideas in town and spreading yourself thinner.

They passed the Reuben test. Marble rye? Check. Tangy dressing? Check. Kraut? Check. The corned beef was delicious, but a little tough. I had a few embarrassingly big bites during a business lunch. The shallot salad dressing was nice and sharp. It was blazing hot out, but we were cold chillin' with our Arnold Palmers on the shady porch. The funky, soul jazz soundtrack on the sound system was inspiring. I would have to say they must be getting their groove on. My lunch colleagues mentioned that this place is owned by the Parrilla proprietors. Will 13th Street Bar and Grill draw the same crowd that breaks bad in the Parrilla parking lot during happy hour? Perhaps not if the 13th Street Bar's drink prices classify the patrons according to drinking behavior cohorts. Still, it's nice to see that the old western saloon life is alive and well.

Great place to sit on the patio and people watch and have a drink or two, The beer and wine selection is fairly extensive and varied. The food on the other hand had much to be desired. The quinoa salad was under cooked and had little to no flavor, we sent it back... The fish and chips were very bitter and over cooked. The blt was all bun and very dry. The service started out ok but when we returned the salad we were ignored until we had to flag down the waiter to get our bill. It was a bummer that a cool location has such poor food and service. Just go for drinks and the variety of people you see wandering around Hyde Park.

Acceptable. But so much less value than Harry's, around the corner. The beers here are more expensive but a smaller pour. The service was haphazard. The salmon sandwich was microscopic. Compared with a similar sandwich at Bittercreek or The Falcon, this one doesn't even compare. And, the salmon is farmed not wild. We went on a night that was supposed to be a fund raiser for a local school. The staff was not properly informed about the fund raiser, and there was lots of confusion. In the end, the bar did make the donation (thank you) but it would have been more effective if it was better communicated in advance.

Many restaurants have passed through this great location in Hyde Park, but hopefully 13th St. Bar and Grill is here to stay. The savvy owner of the successful taco bar Parilla, just next door, has branched into full service restaurant-ing. The space has one of the best covered patios in Boise, complemented nicely by a gorgeous stained bar and separate dining room (though the decor could use some work). The menu offers fairly standard pub food. The steak skewers, on the appetizer menu, are seasoned and cooked to perfection, leaving you wishing for a larger order. The baked mac and cheese with kurobuta ham is deliciously adult in flavor, and tempted me to lick the bowl when I was done. The salads are large and reasonably priced, some coming with a creamy, but subtle, gorgonzola dressing. The bar has an extensive beer list, catering to the micro-brew crowd, and a friendly, helpful staff for the clueless imbibers. So hop on your bike and head down the 13th St. for a lovely dinner on a lively patio. If nothing else, you'll enjoy the people watching while supporting a local business!

First time here. Loved the atmosphere on the patio the service was great also! I ordered the Cobb salad with balsamic vinaigrette and it was on point. Really yummy and fresh and the chicken was cooked great. Loved the size of the meal, how it looked and how it tasted.

My boyfriend and I stopped in here for the first time on Saturday afternoon for lunch after hiking a few miles in the foothills. It was pricey, which didn't really surprise me. (Although, I feel like more places should have an exclusive lunch menu, but whatever.) I don't mind paying a little extra for good food, but it bugs me when I pay too much for food that's just "meh." I have the Pub Club and my date had the Cod and Chips -- neither of us were impressed. For $12 a plate, for LUNCH, I expected to love what I was eating. The location and the venue are awesome, big props for that. We sat inside the covered area, but the windows were all folded open so that it was open-air seating. The service was awful, though. I didn't even know our waiter's name until we got the check, and he said nothing outside of "what can I get you?" A BIG no-no for me. I don't mean to sound nasty, but if it's Friday night and the place is slammed, I'm okay with subpar service, but when it's the middle of the afternoon and you're waiting on like 3 other tables, you should at least be FRIENDLY. Is that so much to ask for? Overall, not at all impressed. Don't plan to return and certainly won't be recommending to anyone.

This place has an amazing patio in the warm months and a neat table top fire place area for the winter (although kinda creepy to eat with the smell of gas). The food has been a crap shoot. First attempt was the special - scallop salad - sounded amazing... Close to $20. What appears was a sad salad with 3, yup 3 scallops. My bad for going with the special. Next attempt - went with the hummus plate to start - not bad, interesting options on the plate. And a cobb salad. Big as my head, i took half home for lunch the next day! The beer. You need to like hoppy ales. IF you do, you are in the perfect spot. If you are a pansy like me that enjoy heff's or browns or sours... again, you might like some of the beers, your might not. Staff... sometimes they are super friendly, sometimes they appear put upon that you arrived. The ability to figure out who to see about where to sit is weird. The hostess station is hidden in the middle of the restaurant. A place with nearly 5 different ways to sneak in... So you look around apprea lost and some times someone will ask you if you need help.. It's a great location, but it's not a place i seek on on my many visits to the city.

Been here three times over the past 1.5 yrs and have been pleased every time with the food and service. (The last two times we had the same server. Don't know his name but he reminds us of Elijah Wood only better-looking ;-) ) Most recent visit was today after shopping at the Co-Op and kind of on a whim cuz we were hungry, in the area, and wanted to go with something tried and true. Hubs and I both had the steak salad. Perfectly cooked to our specs-- I wanted med-rare and hubs ordered well done. Kudos to the chef re precise cooking and presentation! We asked for the Stilton-ale dressing on the side, and the gorgonzola cheese was thoughtfully put on the side of the plate as well. That's a strong cheese, and allowing the customer to add as much as he/she wants is a nice touch. Those polenta fried squares are amazing! We would want to place an order of those to go if we weren't watching calories. Keep doing what you're doing, 13th Street. We have no complaints :-)

I would give a solid 5 but I fell asleep waiting for my food... Don't let that disappoint you, I had to take a trip to the ER after eating. Don't let that discourage you either! I ate so much food that I had to get my stomach pumped, fries are amazing... Service was okay! Girls are cute though!

Terrible service and mediocre, overpriced food. My house salad was pretty good, but the rest was just not stellar and I was really disappointed. The pub is absolutely beautiful and in a great location; I just really think they could do better.

One of our favorite spots in Boise during our trip. Although Boise was suffering from a hot streak during our stay, the front patio of this place was still a great hangout. The staff was both quick and friendly and was willing to change the TV for us. Highly recommend the turkey Brie sandwich with any sort of cocktail -- you can't go wrong -- although I enjoyed the Ginger Garden on a hot day.

Fan of the fireplace, that is. Great location in Hyde Park. Met a friend here for lunch. My fish and chips was delicious. I liked the seasoning. And there were a few other items that sounded appetizing; hard to choose. I ordered a beer and it was huge! The hostess didn't seem to know her beers; for a pub, that stands out. but friendly, nice and overall worth a second shot.

Terrible Service. Bad Food. Why is it still here? This location is one of the best in Boise located in Hyde Park. They have patio seating and it is nestled under the big Boise trees. I'm actually upset that I can't enjoy Hyde Park because this is the only semi-okay place to enjoy a meal. However, semi-okay doesn't mean it okay to charge for over-priced, rude staff. The food tastes like Sysco. If I'm going to pay top-notch to enjoy hipster alley, it better be really good! Please throw out your menu and hire a chef that is passionate about food. I would love to come here more often.

I ordered brunch here and was completely amazed. Amazing service, which I feel is very consistent with Boise, cheap food, and even cheaper mimosas. The service was great! Our waitress was very friendly, checked up on our party constantly, and food was out in a decent time. The food was at a great price for the amazing taste! I ordered a corn beef meal and was blown away by the quality of the food. Savory with great addition of vegetables and potatoes. I have heard from Boise locals that the price from mimosas has been increasing from $1 to about $3. In my opinion, that is still extremely cheap! I definitely believe that this place is definitely worth a try!

Cool, casual, great ambiance, good value, excellent customer service! It's a great place for a casual meal. I love their open terrace/patio dining...very lovely in summer.

Best Kobe burger in Boise hands down! Juicy, fresh...get it with the sautéed mushrooms & bacon. Fantastic service & atmosphere. Every time I'm here, it gets better & better.

We went here about a year ago. This review is intended to document that experience. I will update tonight, as we're going to try it out again before seeing Big Lebowski on the big-screen at the Egyptian Theater (everyone should go to movies here!). We explicitly went here for beers; however, the cheese plate looked so good that we decided to order it and some wine. Don't remember the wine, but it was decent and affordable. The cheese plate was killer. I don't remember what entrees we had, but we were satisfied with food and service when we left. I believe that other yelpers are correct, in that this place has kind of steep beer prices. The atmosphere is pretty cool, as it looks like an old house converted into a restaurant. They have roll-up doors in the summer, which is good and bad. Good when it's early / very late summer, spring or fall; bad when it's 103 F in the dead of Boise summer and even the misters do little to make you feel comfortable. I remember staff being extremely friendly, but not super knowledgeable about the wine list. I think if everything lines up (service, temperature, quality of meals, etc.) this is pretty amazing and way better than standard pub fare. Will update tomorrow, after we've tried it again. Update: It was great! Unfortunately, we were in a hurry; however, our server took great care of us and got us fed and out quickly. We ordered the shrimp bamboo skewer to begin with and it was pretty solid (nothing mind-blowing; similar to the shrimp satays at Bardenay with a nice chili dipping sauce). Wifey had noodle bowl with tofu (solid, but too reminiscent of a dinner we just ate... not 13's fault) and I had a chicken caesar salad. For a full order of salad, I expect a slightly larger plate with lots of greens, but it was plenty substantial (I'm just gluttonous). The portion of chicken was a little on the small side, but only cost $4. My pint of Stella Artois did cost $5.75, which is steep, even by SF bay area standards. Overall, a great experience (and the perfect temperature for outdoor seating)!

Started this review a few years ago. Don't know if it will show up as 2015 or 2012. I have eaten here a number of times. Generally don't like the burgers but there is a number of things that this place has going on that is great: the patio / ambiance is great; the beet salad (according to my wife) is great; great location; good service and good beer list.

This place is awesome! I'm not sure what negative reviewers experienced here at 13th street. I just moved to Boise about 3 months ago and dined here on a Saturday evening with some friends. The ambiance is awesome, the drinks were awesome, and the food was AWESOME! I ordered the sirloin steak, and for a $20 plate, I felt like I was at Flemings or Ruth's Chris. The steak was cooked perfectly, and it was of perfect thickness and size. The steak was accompanied by good size asparagus stalks, and incredible mashed potatoes. Great place, I will definitely be back and recommend to others.

Outdoor seating this type of year is a plus! The wait staff however leave something to be desired: -I asked for a straw and it was brought to the table in front of us -Brought my friend's glass of wine to the wrong table -Ordered a refill on my Sangria which took exceptionally long and the waitress said "sorry, we lost our bartender"...ummm what? Onto the food... I ordered the turkey and Brie sandwich, which I typically LOVE, and was very disappointed...the turkey was dry and the brie overdone A friend ordered the Thai wings which were too salty to eat but they replaced them for a different type of wing for her to take home (She typically orders these and says this was just a mess up) Other friends love love love the beet salad and highly recommend it These friends frequent this place and say food is good but service generally stinks

My favorite thing about this place was the ambiance. I loved the fire that invited us in. It was a pleasant dining experience, but slow. I mean the restaurant wasn't even half full and it seemed like it took forever to get our food and then the bill. Sort of frustrating. But overall, I'd definitely stop in again if I was in the North End.

Tuna melt ROCKED. Fries were real potatoes thick hot and awesome. Down the street was sold out of tuna- their loss our WIN. It's hard to find a great tuna melt but this was one for sure. Since we're from CA- We'll be back !

Used to be our favorite spot many times for drinks and dinner. Suddenly the delicious Salmon dish vanished this year. On our last visit opted to add shrimp to my salad and it was billed $10 extra on top of the salad charge? Got a luke warm explanation from the server. Even called later to talk to a manager to explain it and received a disinterested response from someone posing as a manager. Maybe they have a new or absent owner or just don't care any more. Sadly I will not be back.

I had brunch here recently and was really impressed. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. I ordered a Brie & bacon crepe and it was delicious- a little too cheesy after a while, but still awesome! I will definitely be retuning to this restaurant for meals and brunch in the future. The $3 mimosas are great, too!! It was a beautiful day to eat on the patio, as well!

A group 8 of girls and I went there this weekend while on a girls trip in Boise. A few of us had been there, and it was right down the street from where we were staying. Everyone really enjoyed what they had. I personally had the house salad with salmon. Also, a side of fries. It was all delicious. The salmon wasn't over cooked, and the steak fries were pretty much perfection.

  • Elle S.

Nice little place has a fire pit high table thing going on if you can get a seat there. You seat yourself. Food is decent. I had the salmon plate and it was pretty good. Good fries too. Very busy.

  • Drew B.

It was a little awkward figuring out what to do when we got there until we noticed the "seat yourself" signs. I ended up getting the daily turf, which was veal, and my wife got the daily surf, which was swordfish. Both were ok, but not worth getting again. However, the ambiance of the restaurant and the surrounding area makes it worthwhile to try this restaurant out.

Absolute worst experience here. The waitress took 10 minutes to even greet us and provide us with menus. Another server spilled dressing all over the table and the floor by me and didn't even apologize. Same waitress came to fill up water for the people next to us but didn't refill our glasses even when we asked. We had ordered sliders as an appetizer, all three of which were burnt. The menu said they came with onions yet we couldn't find a single one. My boyfriend's food was incorrect and it took forever to rectify the mistake, yet never made sure my food was correct. My meal was cold by the time I got it and overall disappointing. Terrible experience and we would not return

I don't think they know what a brine is... Horrible porter house pork chop not brined ,under cooked aka raw near the bone... Cherry compote lol embarrassing.. great location total culinary disater. Thank god I don't live in this city what a joke you think farm to plate would be taking off... Or atleast done right... Super disapointed... No chef in that kitchen obviously Lmao... I have more than 20 years in this industry and come from prestigious culinary schools.. I'm no fool I'm actually being nice on this review.

Summation: Consistently disappointing. The problem with this place is really the execution of what could be fine, middle-of-the-pack, pub fare. If you want the quick recommendation for this place, go no further than the next sentence: Stick to the fresh cut fries and a beer of choice. Aren't American pubs to be judged by their burger? Living just a block away, it would be so nice if I could count on simple, delicious burger when my wife and I are not in the mood to cook and/or clean. I can't remember when 13th St was last able to deliver me a ground beef patty that wasn't fried into oblivion, despite my request for medium rare, more leaning toward rare. Not a scrap of the juicy pink anywhere. Why don't I send back more of these poor excuses for cheffery (I thought I made this word up, but it's in the Urban Dictionary on-line)? Oh yeah, it embarrasses my table-mates. My wife and I stayed home last night and we made an incredible burger that puts this place to shame, using pretty budget ingredients, Costco "Kirkland" branded, organic beef on day-old bread from the mark-down bin at Fred Meyer (no joke). A light toast on the bread and a smear of mayo was all that was needed to make this perfectly med-rare burger leap up and yodel. There's no reason why a restaurant serving fresh ground "Double R Ranch" can't deliver a decent burger. Handle the meat gently, make the patty a little thicker (use a smaller bun if it you can't afford another dollop of meat for this) and don't leave it on the back of the griddle to sizzle out all it's fine juices! I guess I have to blame the management and kitchen who are not committed to excellence. I just looked up "Double R" ranch, and they're no super quality grass-fed brand--they finish all their beef on grain (aka corn). Why can't they find some nice grass-finished beef supplier? Maybe even local? A quick trip to Google produced a bunch of hits. First one: Alderspring Ranch. Looks good! In a recent trip, I changed up my normal burger crap-shoot and went for a Reuben. And not surprisingly, I was summarily disappointed. Was that marbled rye bread (verging on stale?) just slapped in the salamander, rather than being slathered in rich butter and fried to toothsome perfection? Whatever their method, it sure made for a dry, crusty delivery vehicle for the decent ingredients inside. And all the over-hopped beers on tap (not their fault that the fad of the decade is to prefer lopsided bitterness over the potential for symphonic maltiness) did nothing to sooth my abraded soft pallet. On the staff. Consistently friendly and generally try to be helpful, but are most often woefully undereducated on the beers and wines available. Again, the fault of the management.

Good food, bad service. Our server Tyler was nice but obnoxiously slow and messed up our order and basically said sorry you have to wait without any sort of reconciliation. Maybe he was new but didn't make the experience make us want to come back.

My most recent experience with 13th Street was for appetizers and drinks with a few girlfriends. We ordered the brie appetizer, but it was not delivered for 45 minutes. The server did not bring us silverware or plates. We sat there for probably an hour with empty drinks. We watched our server sitting in the next room at a table full of other servers, just chatting and ignoring their tables. Although the service was unforgivable, 13th Street gets two stars because the food is decent and their wine list is spectacular.

I was introduced to this place on a first-date, and it was perfect for the occasion. The indoor/outdoor patio was perfect for our Saturday lunch adventure. Casual environment. Not too hot. I tried the Asian Salad and was not disappointed. The display on my plate looked too good to touch, but that thought didn't last long. Ha! I ate up every last piece of food on my plate! Our waitress stayed on top of our drinks and was sure to supply any other need we had. Overall, absolutely zero complaints from me.

My husband and I have been here on several occasions for brunch and always had a decent meal and adequate service. However, my experience over this weekend has left such a horrible taste in my mouth that we will NEVER return. On Saturday morning, I checked my bank account online and saw a charge for $39.34 at 13th St. I was immediately concerned considering the fact that I haven't been there in weeks and was at another restaurant at the time. The weirdest part is that my debit card has been in my wallet the entire time. As soon as they opened, I called and asked for a manager. When one wasn't available, I left a message. After several hours and no call back, I tried again. I was told that a manager was "looking into it" and I would definitely get a call back that day. Although I didn't have any other fraudulent charges, I went to my bank and cancelled my card and filed a dispute. It was my intention to resolve the issue with the restaurant, but the lack of communication from them left me no choice. By Sunday morning, I still had not received a call back so I tried again. I was told that a manager was STILL not available. After voicing my frustration, I was put on hold. This is where the extreme lack of customer service becomes shocking. After a minute or so, a woman answered the phone with "hello." Strange to not introduce yourself as a manager or say you've heard of the situation and want to help, but whatever. I summed up the reason for my call and was immediately met with an argumentative attitude. The manager was extremely defensive and literally yelled at me about being too busy to return my call. Her exact words were "we don't work 24 hours a day" and "I'm sorry that getting back to you a day later wasn't soon enough." (In a sarcastic tone...and also false, since I was the one that had to call back) She also said that since I cancelled my card there was "nothing that they could do." Not once was there an apology or any sort of concern as to how this happened. In fact, she accused me of loaning my debit card to someone. Uh...no. Our call lasted about 10 minutes of going around in circles. Every time I tried to speak, she would talk louder over my voice arguing with whatever I said. Soooo bizarre. Like I said, I filed a dispute and I'm not concerned about getting the money back nor is it a large amount that's a huge deal. What IS a huge deal is that this restaurant was perfectly ok with losing a repeat customer by yelling at them and not treating a fraud issue with concern. My hope was for an apology at the very least. That seems like common sense to me. After reading some of the reviews here, it looks like service and management are big problems. There are MANY other amazing local restaurants that deserve your business over this place.

I'm always impressed with a place that has Pimm's Cups on their cocktail list. The Pimm's Cup had ginger beer and fresh lemon juice in it with a cucumber garnish. Very tasty and decently strong. I'd definitely go back for another in the summer. I had the Idaho trout for my entree. It came in a lemon butter sauce with a side of roasted potatoes and roasted broccolini. The entire thing was delicious.

The tri-fecta... Great food... Great Atmosphere... Great service... The fries are spectacular .. Blackened chicken salad was delightful ... Try their apple wasabi dressing ... Had the flour less chocolate cake for dessert .. We had to .. So we could review it.. To die for!

This place is ok...and that's it. And really? $11 for 8 chicken wings? I never leave there thikning that what I just had was worth the money that I paid. The food is not good enough to charge what they do. It has potential and I hope they get it together.

We spent the evening in Hyde Park, starting off with dinner at the 13th Street Bar and Grill. It may not be the only place serving new American cuisine, but it's probably the most family friendly. If you're craving upscale yet affordable comfort food and don't have a sitter, I highly recommend it. That said, it isn't filled with screaming children, just a wide variety of clientele contributing to a comfortable buzz inside and out. It has a great location, and you can seat yourself. Even though it was busy, we had no problem finding a seat inside. They also had plenty of high chairs. Service was prompt and friendly. We started with calamari for an appetizer. It was a combination of strips and rings, and even the rings were juicy and delicious, not at all rubbery. The breading was nice, too. Light and subtle. Everyone enjoyed their dinners, as well. I had fish and chips. It wasn't my favorite kind of batter but the fish tasted great and the fries were the best I've had in ages. Of course, the star of the show for me was the Rowdy Kate cocktail I drank with dinner. It's made with North 44 Huckleberry vodka, as well as lemon and berry liquors. It's basically a huckledrop on steroids, and absolutely wonderful. There's also an extensive wine list, including many local offerings. I can't wait to go back!

We went there with 3 other couples for Sunday brunch a few months back and we ended up waiting 45 minutes for our food. When it came out, it was clear that much of it had been sitting under a heat lamp for some time and there were several mistakes in the order. I sent my eggs back because they were overcooked as a result; they re-did them and came back overcooked again. Last night we went back for dinner, figuring we'd give 'em another shot. My wife ordered the grilled cheese, and found that the cheese wasn't even melted. Her side of vegetables (broccolini) was dry and brittle, again it was clear it had been pre-cooked and left under a heat lamp. I ordered the "noodle bowl" and found it was one of the saltiest things I'd ever been served. We sent them both back and left. Granted, both these incidents were during busy times (Sunday brunch, Friday evening) but it seems clear that something is wrong in terms of food preparation quality and consistency at this place. They're cutting corners and I suspect the cooks just may not be very good. I know this seems like a harsh review. I actually have had a couple good meals there in the past and we do enjoy going there for drinks. But, I think we're done trying to eat there.

Great food and location! Katie was great! Let us sample beers prior to ordering and very helpful in what to order. We'll be back ! And Katie is great to look at!

We have eaten here numerous times over the past couple of years due to the convenience and the great atmosphere of the area (Hyde Park). The food has never been spectacular but this particular visit was mediocre enough that we probably won't be returning. I had ordered a beet salad that appeared seasonal and fresh based on the description. When it arrived, instead of fresh beets, there was a stack of canned beets on the side of the plate. The rest of the salad was fine but every other restaurant I have ordered similar salads from use fresh roasted beets as an in season dish. Also, on this same visit, my finance ordered the veggie burger and asked for avocado on it. The waitress told us avocados were not in season? Funny because they are available in any grocery store year round....enough said.

Having not eaten here in several months and prior mediocre experiences, we had 5 outstanding dinners tonight. Service was attentive, friendly and appreciate of our business. Albacore tune melt was exceptional and the side I selected was grilled broccoli was crisp and seasoned nicely. French Dip was generosity and served on a crusty roll with good horseradish on the side. Fish and chips were fresh and served with crunchy cold slaw. The blackened chicken salad was fresh and with several ingradients. The pale ale-Stilton (house made blue cheese) was outstanding on my side salad. Next time I will order a side of additional dressing as the small cup was marginal in quantity.

The patio is a nice place to eat during the summer. They have a very classic menu and I would eat there again!

In a nutshell the location is great and so is the atmosphere. This is one of my favorite places to go on a mild spring or summer day. They open up the windows and it's like dining outside, in the shade. During the winter the atmosphere is warm and cozy. They have a great fire pit bar table in one section that is fun at night. I've also found my food selections to be consistently good and reasonably priced. They have great sandwiches and delicious salads with fresh, house-made dressings. Try the steak sando. It's one of the better steak sandwiches I've ever had. My MAJOR gripe with this place is the service. Let's be real, for anyone who has lived in a big city and then moved to Boise, you are probably slightly appalled by how lazy and casual the servers can be in this town, in general. 13th St. has some of the worst of the worst, though. There is one brunette female server who has been there since the summer that is so bad that I will scope out the area when I arrive and I will avoid her section. She is so rude and super lazy--always hanging out at the bar and never coming by to refill water or see if the food came out ok. When I see that someone like that has maintained employment at a restaurant for months, consistently providing terrible service, I know there is a problem with management. I wish the management would do a better job of making sure their servers were actually providing service.

Service was poor, mistake on wine because waitress didn't bother to listen. A place that looks great but falls short primarily on the service end.

Prices are too high, the food is ok. They do however have the best cobb salad in town and the outside patio is great in the summer.

Had dinner here for the first time with daughter & hubby. After reading some of the (harsh) reviews, we had avoided coming, but we had a good experience. Probably the best attribute is their outdoor patio dining, esp. on a hot summer night. Menu choices were diverse & they have a kid's menu, attracting families as well. Service was a bit spotty, esp. for not being that busy on a Fri. night. Might give it a try for their weekend brunch sometime.

I think the choice of name is a good analogy for this place...Uninspired. 13th street strives to be another bittercreek and misses the mark. Place had only been open 2 weeks so hopefully they can improve. I had the French dip with the bean/sausage soup. Bread on the dip was very good, the roast beef was a little dry but serviceable. The soup was not good at all. Barely any sausage and had a weird mediciny taste. I think 75% of the items on the menu had some type of aioli, I think they may have gotten a deal from sysco on mayo. The location and patio will keep this place afloat while they (hopefully) work out the menu.

As with many establishments in Boise the food appears to come off the same sysco truck. Not bad just relatively uninspired. I understand why. It seems like any restaurant that try's to offer food that's above the level is doomed to fail. Yasmin, Erin and lee do a great job waiting tables and make it worth the visit. Super friendly , nice people. If the rating was based on them it would be 5 stars! Nice location. Seating indoors and out make it nice wether it's hot or cold.

Finally! Something comfortable, inviting and unassuming with a decently creative menu that might just STICK in this location. Since it's opening a couple months ago, I have been to 13th Street 3 different times. Once on the patio in a large group during the day, once for dinner in the evening and once we sat in the bar and ordered just apps and beers. Before I gave an assesment of 13th Street, I wanted to experience it in a few different ways. The good thing is that you can do just that - experience it in different ways. The inside dining room is more initimate for a nice dinner, while the bar got a bit rowdy (think Bittercreek rowdy, not Roddy's rowdy) and the patio was lovely, not to mention always a great people watching experience in Hyde. I was impressed they are open from 11am - 2 am every day and hope that works out well for them. It's nice to know I could stay at the same place for lunch, dinner and late drinks and not get booted out until 2 am! (kidding.......) The menu was comfortably creative with spin offs of foods most are quite familiar with, ie: Prawn Caprese appetizer. This is your typical mozz, roma, basil, balsamic reduction + a grilled prawn on top. So delish! We also love the first sandwich under the sandwiches section (they don't have a website online where I could look up the name of the sandwich for you)... all I know is the marriage between the succulent shaved turkey breast underneath a bevy of melted brie topped with foccacia bread accompanied by a pesto aioli was a MUST eat on the menu. Honorable mentions: Mac n Cheese (4 or 5 different cheeses baked into macaroni pasta topped with parmesan crust and herbs - yum-o!), Greek salad (uhmm, who puts roasted red peppers AND sundried tomatoes in a salad? 13th Street does. The vinegarette that comes with it is to die for too). Not So Hot: Beef skewers (fatty and somewhat tasteless, but the sauce that came with it wasn't bad), fresh cut fries - unless you can reallllllly take the time to do a fresh cut fry WELL, do not attempt. The way potatoes grow and are stored make for a huge hassle when trying to fresh cut potatoes and make them consist year around. And one question.... where the heck are the sweet potato fries??? I can see them fitting in so well at 13th Street! Overall, I am impressed and actually have eaten quite a few other things off the menu and had a few beers they had going on tap too. Maybe this weekend I'll update my review, but until then, try it out. There is enough to satisfy just about anyone in your group!

Ate here for the first time today. The patio is definitely the big draw, especially on this bright and sunny day. The service was good. They kept the diet pepsi's and waters coming. I ordered the chicken sandwich with no expectations whatsoever. While they failed to put the aioli on the side as I had asked, turned out it was just the right amount and tasted good. The sandwich came on a great challah bun, (always good on a Friday just before the sabbath). The surprise was that the tomotoes were real, the chicken tender, the lettuce crisp, and putting it all together... the sandwich was very tasty and definitely exceeded my expectations. I will go back.

Food is ehh, atmosphere is fantastic. Go for the drinks. The Moscow mules are particularly fantastic in the copper cups. Unless you consider a salt lick to be delicious, I wouldn't order the Mac and cheese.

I enjoyed a lovely grilled swiss cheese and gouda sandwich and a glass of Malbec. My friend and I sat ourselves at the bar in the center of the restaurant. The bar was intimate, and framed with a modern fire pit. The heat from the flames warmed my hands and face as I sipped the deliciously spicy wine. My sandwich was refined, but comforting; the perfect grown-up grilled cheese. Service was prompt and friendly, and most importantly we never felt rushed. This is the perfect place to spend a cozy evening eating delicious gourmet comfort food.

I came here again. I think they deserve an upgrade. I like the happy hour, the staff, and the prices. I haven't had any additional food so I can't comment on that.

The 13th Street Grill has great food! The service is amazing! If you are in Hyde Park, I would recommend stopping by. My only complaint is they should bring back Mac & Jack beer and mash potatoes.

I drive by this place every day on my way to work and I finally stopped by to try it. The atmosphere is beautiful and I love the fire pit counter. The food was great and perfect lunch prices. The staff was really friendly and accommodating to my 9 month old. I plan on going back over and over again! The veggie burger is GREAT!

A dank draft beer selection, complemented by very solid bar food, including home-made hummus, peanut tofu appetizer and Asian salad entree.

Good food, good prices, service...not so good. Avoid Nick unless you have 2 hours to wait for food and don't mind mistakes on your order.

It's a pretty good addition to the 13th street scene. I've enjoyed some of the food here, some not so much. The cod and chips? Heavy and overcooked. The turkey and brie sandwich? Wonderful. The mushroom risotto is good, but there's too much of the same thing on the plate with no other item to break the monotony. Portions are large; if that's important to you, you won't go away hungry. Service is uneven - The restaurant is "seat yourself" and you won't get a glance from the staff until your butt is in their section (although their sections checkerboard through 3 rooms; good luck getting their attention from your seat.) Out of 5 visits, we've had one good, attentive, professional server and all the other times we've had to beg for a second glass of wine or drink refills or for vinegar for the fish and chips from wait staff with amazing tunnel vision. Dec 2013: The same is still true, but we've found that the service is consistently poor in the larger, indoor room (where you're treated like an abandoned orphan) and OK in the firepit area. The firepit and bar areas have taken on a middle-aged meat-market feel, if that's your thing. Plan to eat in your coat. There are four exterior doors that fan the seated guests (and their food) in the three rooms. The fifth door, which doesn't open near any tables, is blocked off.

I had to wait one hour for my food. It was Mothers Day and had my two kids and we were looking for a nice, simple place to eat. This was not the place to go. It was not crowded and service still sucked. My first time here was terrible as well, service was horrible and food was average. This time around was really no different. Took forever to get drinks ordered then food took an hour to arrive by which time I asked for it to go. They only comped our drinks and the kids ice cream!!??!!! My Salmon skewers were actually excellent and my wife's Asian salad was good as well but not good enough to overcome the terrible experience.

I have ate hear twice now. Both times the food and service was great. First time I tried the French Dip. It was really Good. And the second time I had the Rib Eye and that was the bomb.. A lot of people have compared this to Bitter Creek which makes no sense to me. I prefer this place for atmosphere and it has more items on the menu that I prefer.
