If I lived in the area, I'd definitely be back again. It was clean, fast, healthy, simple good food with a Greek/Mediterranean influence. They had cucumber water out the day we visited - delicious. (Cucumber slices in ice water.) Adds such a nice flavor to plain old water. The owner had mentioned trying out different flavors too. They just opened three weeks ago, as of this review. Go check them out for lunch! Not cheap, but not terribly expensive, and likely a whole lot healthier than the other options in the area.

I really like these Mediterranean fast food places showing up. They offer a healthier alternative that tastes good for a reasonable price. This one served me a very fresh falafel pita sandwich. They offered a wide choice of items and the falafel was hot. The sandwich was not as easy to eat as what they serve at a Garbonzo's, but it was very good. The staff was very friendly. It would be nice if the suggested toppings from the selection available for new clients.

Having never been here before, I was a little thrown back when asked at the drive-thru, "What dressing with your Greek salad?" (Greek?). As it turns out they do not have Greek dressing. At the staff's suggestion I tried the cilantro lime. It made for a delicious salad. And the small side of hummus was perfect in both size and taste. I will be back!

Stopped in for lunch. I had the gyro sandwich with a side Greek salad. Both were great. Love the dressing on the salad. Shared a hummus appetizer with my wife. We both loved it and the pita bread is the freshest I've ever tasted. It's not the cheapest place to eat, but the staff is friendly, the atmosphere is nice and the food is really good. I really hope this place does well.

Came here for lunch with a coworker and it didn't disappoint. We both ordered kabobs amd sweet potato fries. For something as simple as a kabobs, they were just bursting with flavor and cooked perfectly. The cashier warned us that the steak kabobs would take longer to cook but I felt like our food came quickly. Its pretty nice to have a place close by that was some healthier lunch options. I can't wait to come back and try some of the other things they have on the menu.

I stopped by here with my coworkers for lunch looking for a good gyro. What I got was a small gyro that had no other taste other than onions and cucumbers. It was fresh, but lacked meat and sauce. All my workers said the same thing. One of us got regular fries which were borderline soggy, and others got sweet potatoe fries which were pretty good. Ice tea drink we got had no sugar at all and tasted bland. I, nor anyone from my 4 person group would return to this place. Perhaps other items on the menu are good, but for $10+, I rather take my chances elsewhere.

Stopped in for lunch. We had salads and one had a gyro. All was really good & fresh. My Greek salad with chicken was as good, if not better, than the one I get at Centro downtown. Small menu, casual and quaint. Descent prices. Will for sure be back.

last minute search for a gyro. Jumped on YELP and found this gem close to home. AMAZING!! they are very accommodating and even waiting past closing hours for me to pick up my sandwich. Look forward to dining again when I'm not in a rush.

Youll love the food at this place. We ordered chicken sandwitch and a gyro sandwitch and wasnt really in a mood for a conversation till I finished eating. They also serve spicy peanut sause along with the others and for peanut lovers like my husband is like icing on the cake. They also have drive thru service. Highly recommend.. enjoy

Just had lunch there. Got the Gyro sandwich...based on taste and quantity I still prefer Ted's Coney Island over Mediterranean Express. Falafel were half the size of Ted's Falafel but the flavor was food. This is a decent spot for Waukee. At Ted's you can get it all in a basket for around $7 which includes fries, onion rings, coleslaw - a great deal! compared to Mediterranean express where JUST the sandwich is 7.99. The Staff was very friendly and nice.

My wife and I just finished a great meal here. We had the Mediterranean sampler and two sandwiches, one gyro and one chicken kabob. The sampler was excellent with a wonderful homemade peanut sauce. The sandwiches were great and fresh as well, but the chicken kabob was the star if the sandwiches. Falafel was a part of the sampler and it was better than we have had. I hope everyone in the area tries this place! This is a special place that is very rare in the suburbs. Nothing fancy, just a great neighborhood made from scratch spot (especially all the sauces!).

Stopped by late one evening last week. Here is what I like the gyro tastes like lamb and has a great mix of the traditional flavors. they have many sauce options as well. I don't know how long it will stay in business...crowds were pretty light. I would stop by again but probably only for lunch doesn't seem like a good date place.

I appreciate having a healthier alternative close by and some diversity for my taste buds. Usually I have to drive downtown to get this kind variety so I'm glad it's available close by. I had the chicken kabob, Greek side salad, and last but certainly not least, baklava. The baklava was the perfect portion. Everything was really good. I will definitely be back!

The gyro sandwich is $7.99 for about 4 strips of actual meat. The tzikiki sauce wasn't very flavorful.I got the drink and the side for $2.99 more and the pita with hummus consisted of 5 little triangles of pita bread and a small cup of hummus.

Went here with the fam, liked the sampler, the kababs were really good juicy. Hummus was absolutely divine and fresh falafel!yes!fresh hot falafel that are home made! Have olive oil and preserves if you want to buy..they could add plain old french fries to the menu too. Oh and the pita bread was warm too!We were all happy campers and satisfied when we got home!yummy!

Went to Fresh Mediterranean Express for the first time today. Excellent, fresh food! Outstanding customer service! Hard to impress me but this restaurant is a winner. I will be a "regular"!!!

Delicious Mediterranean cafe! It's on the end next to Subway (and 5,000 times healthier than Subway in my opinion) and was a little tough to spot from the street, but it's there! Love the "small town" vibe, chalkboard menu and friendly owners! I had the Gyro with olive oil (although they have a lot of sauces that sound delicious) and my husband the Kabab sandwich, and we both had red pepper hummus. All was absolutely delicious! They were out of the baklava and were making it at the time, so we'll definitely be back and try it. Love the emphasis of wholesome ingredients. They've only been open 3 weeks. Go check them out and support this local, fun and fresh business!!

I had our three kiddos and needed a quick lunch as we were running errands. They might as well leave the "express" out of the business name. I ordered a chicken kabob pita sandwich, the kids kabobs, (one steak and one chicken), and a side salad that was made to order. We waited at least 15-20 minutes for our food, which was not what I expected from a "express" type restaurant. The food came and the meat chunks on the kids kabobs were so large I had to use a plastic knife and fork to cut it up for them. The peanut side sauce was fabulous, and the kids gobbled them right up. I went to eat my salad after I had already dressed it with the creamy parmesan (amazing) and I noticed it was loaded with onions and I ordered my salad with out. By this time I hadn't even had a chance to eat my kabob wrap and I asked the register gal if she could make my new salad and wrap up my kabob sandwich to go, as by this time the kids were done sitting there. I noticed while we were waiting they had two women come into the restaurant and have them fix their orders as well so I know I wasn't the only one with an issue, one was a drive-thru order too. They made my new salad to go, and I noticed there weren't any olives like I ordered so I had the gal add some. In the meantime, while waiting for them to bag my stuff I ordered two baklava's and 2 fruit kabobs to go. They had to go to the back to make the fruit kabobs (which were all grapes and one strawberry on top), and in the mean time the register gal lost my kabob sandwich the other worker had already wrapped, and forgotten my baklava. Finally, I got my items and left. I ate my salad and the kabob wrap at home. The chicken was flavorful and the sauce was outstanding. If it wasn't for all the side issues I would have rated this a 5 star. I understand that new businesses have their kinks to work out, but it almost makes me not want to come back. I really hope they can get more organized and get the orders out in a more timely manner with the correct ingredients.

Great food, especially the spicy peanut sauce! Fresh food with great flavor. The employees are all very friendly. The pitas are the best I have had and the original hummus is great, it doesn't need any extra flavor. You should definitely visit!
