This place is the OG of the sushi/hibachi grills of the Cedar Valley. The food is awesome and the service is usually on point. The last couple times the sushi came out while I was eating my grill meal, which I generally like to have it before hand. You can tell this is an old Hardees still...it would be nice to kick the decor up a notch.

The food was good and the hibachi chef quite entertaining. Surprised to find this in Waterloo!

This is owned by the same family that owns Sakura, and they have the same time of food and the same menu. However, this restaurant is run down, and I do not think the food is as good. Some of My friends say it's just me, but some agree with me. I would recommend driving the extra 10 minutes to Sakura if you want a meal that's to die for and excellent ambiance. I always get Combination filet minon and chicken, which is $25, so I expect the meal to be good. It's hit or miss at Tokyo. I have had my noodles Burnt before, and the steak is always overcooked. The only time I come here is when a friend is driving and they are not all about driving to Sakura.

Tokyo is a hit or miss. The service is usually poor. The sushi is always good and usually comes out in a timely manner. I always order the hibachi chicken.. Sometimes it's amazing, sometimes the chicken is over cooked and dry. Honestly if you don't mind driving to cedar falls, Sakura is definitely better overall.

I absolutely love hibachi grills and this one is so good. Usually if we are in a hurry, we will dine at a booth/table and it's a bit faster. We usually don't order sushi, but I have often tried some that friends have ordered and it is always good. My favorite is their steak and shrimp, and oh my goodness: the ginger salad dressing. Best ever!

I used to go here all the time. This place is run by the owners of Sakura, which serves essentially the same style of food. I've always loved the flavors of the hibachi grill.

Best sushi in the Cedar Valley hands down. I've had sushi in many different places and this is always consistent. Obviously not as fresh as something in cali, but fresh as can be found in the Midwest.

Food is good and service is fine. It's the standard 'Japanese grill' show and they are good at what they do. Nothing extraordinary. However, the building itself atmosphere feels a bit dark, dirty... Like seedy. I give 3-stars because it doesn't have out-of-this-world extras to counter the atmosphere. I'll get food there - but usually carry-out

I didn't try the sushi, I'm one of those people who likes their meat cooked... I ordered filet and scallops. The food was cooked well enough, the problem I had with it was it was way too heavy on the soy sauce flavor. I couldn't even taste the steak or the scallops. I could tell it was a good cut of meat, but the guy who cooked it murdered the taste by way over saucing it to death. He was very fun and entertaining however, so I suppose I'll give this place 3 stars instead of 2. But I won't be back.

I can't believe nobody has reviewed this place.. Well it is a grill table habachi house with plenty of room. Price is fair and food is very good. The building is an old Hardees or something and the inside is ok but nothing to rave about. The Nigeri Sushi is always good but I have not had any rolls. Steak Ta Taki is a winner. Nigeri is cheap at $3ish for 2 pieces and combo dinners like Filet and Salmon are like $20ish so not bad for a lot of good food.
