Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

You literally CANNOT go wrong with a flour taco from Tasty Tacos. This place is one of the saddest part about moving so far away from Iowa. I have been to a bunch of their different locations and have never had a bad taco. Their beed mixture has beans in it and has a good flavor but I am also a fan of their bean flour tacos. Don't skip their taco sauce, either. I will be back in Des Moines in a few weeks and I am already thinking about my Tasty Tacos trip.

Best flour tacos in town, hands down. Always consistent, clean restaurant, good service.

We're judging this for what it is...a taco place. It's not fancy but it is cheap and they do make a tasty taco! The menu is fairly broad, but you should ignore everything else and just order 2 originals. Grab your own salsa squeeze bottle (up front) and apply to each bite. The sauce pulls everything together!

I finally had a chance to try Tasty Taco out after hearing about it from relatives and friends in Iowa. I was born and raised in Winterset, the home of John Wayne and the Covered Bridges of Madison County. My absolute favorite place has been Taco Johns since birth. Unfortunately, I moved to California and then Dallas, TX were there are no Taco Johns. When i came back to Des Moines for a family gathering, I had to try Tasty Tacos and the food was really good! I was surprised at the waiting line but impressed with how quick the orders were ready. Everyone there was friendly. The people of Des Moines love Tasty Taco for a reason. For me, the flavor of the seasoning in the meat and the flat bread flour was signature Taco Bueno, a large chain in Texas. My first bite confirmed it..this is Taco Bueno with a different name. But with Taco Bueno you don't get friendly, fast service...or consistent quality that seems to be what makes Tasty TAco so good! I plan on going back when we move to Des Moines permanently in a month.
