This place has changed owners and you can already tell the difference. Employees are friendlier, the place is cleaner, and best of all it's faster! If I were you, I'd give it another try.

In my life, which has been long and well travelled, I didn't think it was possible to find a DQ which should be shuttered. I have now! This is the most pathetic excuse for a location serving ice cream and desserts! First off the interior of the restaurant is scary and pathetic. I think they last remodeled when the Brady Bunch was a hit on tv in the '70's. When I ordered 2 ice cream treats, the amount at the register came up about $2.50 more than the correct amount. The kid (and I mean kid, since I don't think he had high school math yet), told me the register is always right and that's the amount. When I tried to work the numbers backward for him, he just kept saying this is what the machine states...and I thought Iowa was one of those good school states.

Place was filthy. Garbage overflowing, bathroom sink dirty, employees somewhat indifferent . Never go back.

Failed in every respect. Not friendly. Our order took incredibly long. They brought out our dilly bars before our meals. Our drinks were filled to the brim with ice and barely any soda. No extra katchup or mustard, which we requested, and no napkins. Next time we'll drive by instead of driving through.

Employees goofing off. Took over 20 minutes to get our food. Had to go ask about our food. They forgot to start our order. Highly DO NOT recommend!!!!

Dairy Queen? More like Molasses Queen. This place has very friendly employees, but when we came in we had to wait ten minutes just to place our orders. The food was hot, but took twenty minutes to come to our table.

Gayle and I made it a point to stop by a Dairy Queen almost every day during our recent vacation back in Iowa and Minnesota. On Sunday, we were coming back from Minneapolis and with only a short distance left to Ames, Gayle saw the DQ sign and suggested that we exit the freeway and drive through. Gayle had her usual small cone dipped in chocolate, while my son had a butterscotch sundae, and had a small plain cone. We did the drive-thru and service was fast and friendly After that, our merry band returned to Ames by going through Story City to US 69, past Ada Hayden Park and then home.

A quarter pound of... mayonnaise?! My 1/4 lb bacon cheeseburger did not have 1/4 lb of meat on it. The mayo-and-ketchup mixture looked like bloody pus oozing out the entire circumference. Their chicken sandwich had lots of mayo too. Stick with the ice cream!

I am a huge fan of DQ's. I always try to make point to stop at them in smaller towns in lieu of visiting McDonald's or BK. This DQ however, breaks with the tradition I have come to expect from DQ/Brazier. I am sure this is attributable to the individually owned and operated nature of DQ franchises. I had left a poor review of this location after several disappointing visits. I wanted to make sure that all of the Yelp readers know that I have seen a marked improvement here over the last 6 months. The food quality is much improved and the help is attentive and fast. When I get a hankering for a burger here, I will put this DQ on the top of the list. Kudos to DQ and this stores to getting this store turned around. It was one of the worst and now it is what I have come to expect when I visit a DQ/Brazier. Thanks.
