This is a nice restaurant for an upscale business meal or a nice date with the wife. Also have several TV's in the bar area. They offer very interesting foods and they are prepared very well. Very nice service and an enjoyable environment.

This is a fabulous restaurant for a dinner date. A hidden gem of the area. I love the atmosphere and highly recommend ordering the saganaki and yell "opa" I got the beef tender and it was excellent, the food is fantastic. I love the house salad dressing. The portions are excellent. Also got the salmon with the dill sauce, absolutely amazing. If you are in the area I highly recommend and don't forget to get a Founders angry bastard beer, excellent. Dessert is amazing also, so many choices you can't go wrong.

Omg! Had the duck...a medallion sliced breast in a a wine and mushroom sauce. Try it! The presentation is attractive with rice and mixed fresh greens. I am impressed enough to have dessert...baklava!

We made reservations day off but when we arrived at 5:30 on a Saturday, we wouldn't have had trouble getting a table, it appeared. They were pretty packed by the time we left so might be worth calling ahead. We arrived and were sat immediately and the hostess was busy but very nice and inviting. Our drink orders were taken promptly (along with an appetizer order) and drinks arrived quickly as well. Our waitress gave us a run down of the specials, of which their were 4 (all variations of 4 oz medallion steak with extras) and after hearing them I was faced with a dilemma... Too much looked and sounded delicious. the Hot Mama Mia looked freaking delicious, the toscana something or other... everything just looked good. In the end though i had to go with one of the specials. I ordered a 4 oz bacon-wrapped medallion steak served with a side of sun-dried tomato and smoked cheese ravioli. Our appetizer arrived very quickly (fried calamari) and it was delicious. It was a pretty sizable portion that we split between 4 people easily. The calamari were very meaty (thicker than I normally see like thick clam strips) and were fried perfectly and not the least bit greasy. They came with a sauce that was good for dipping. It wasn't the best calamari I've ever had (but that's a high bar to clear) but it was excellent and satisfying. Our salads arrived right on the heals of us finishing the calamari. We all got the house salad with their garlic something or other dressing. I'm pretty particular about dressings (I only particularly like Caesar and Italian...) but it sounded good so I went with it. It was, in fact, quite good. The salads were pretty good sized and I only ate about half cause I knew I was going to be full before I ever got my entree if i ate it all. Good croutons, good lettuce, good dressing... good salad. Our entrees came just as we finished the salads and they all looked excellent. My steak was cooked to my liking and was good. It could have used a touch more seasoning, perhaps, but a good steak doesn't need too much help and this was a good steak. The dish also came with a couple slices of an Italian-y bread/crustini type of thing of bread with some garlic and olive oil or butter. It was tasty. The highlight of the dish though was the ravioli. I could have just had that and been totally satisfied. They were perfectly cooked and the filling was smoky and delicious and just altogether yum! It took some doing but I managed to power though being full toward the end and was able to eat it all. It was a very satisfying meal. Everyone seemed really happy with their dinners (Another special of steak and salmon with garlic mashed potatoes, bacon cheeseburger & fries, the chicken toscano thing). All in all, the food at Kaldera is delicious. Great date night, dinner out, special evening, or just in the mood for something filling and delicious dinner type of thing. If I had to criticize anything, toward the end our wait service started to seem a little slow (she seemed to be running constantly and maybe just a touch overworked - definitely not a matter of her forgetting us or slacking off) but they were getting quite busy by that point and maybe were a touch understaffed. If I got nitpicky, all our dinners came out on different plates that were a little comical. One entree on a huge (way bigger than needed) rectangular plate, mine came on a curvy triangular plate, one round, another square... The big plate and mine were a little awkward on the table. It just seemed a touch disjointed. I LOVE all things plates too but seems like they could simplify just a touch. The decor is a little random (leopard print carpet upon arrival was a little something and antlers and drift wood light fixtures (kind of liked them) in our dining room... I liked the random wire screens that matched the menu design... There was just a lot going on and some of it just wasn't my personal taste but it wasn't anything that took away anything and mostly I'm just rambling now... Basically, Kaldera = delicious. You would do well to stop in for dinner. Side note, says casual on Yelp but I'd say it is borderline dressy. Or at least small town dressy. I was in a t-shirt and felt a little under dressed (but I wasn't alone) so dress how you like, you just might feel a touch out of place.

I went to College in the town over, in my undergrad and graduate years there I never have tried this place. It really is crazy to think not once have I even been in the parking lot until this weekend! We stopped her for dinner while in town for the Tulip festival. Upon entering the restaurant is very nice inside, very good job on that. Even though it was busy from tourists we got a table fast. We tried the Saganaki, because we like our cheese on fire, we like making a scene, and we like to yell "Opa". Yes they light your cheese on fire and you yell, why wouldn't you order this? It was really good as well were the pita slices they gave with it. Salads came out next, small side salad with a nice gingerish/thousand islandish maybe flavored dressing, simple and good. After that my delicious smoked cheese ravioli with a 4oz bacon wrapped fillet came out and for less than $20! What a steal! The ravioli were amazing, not your typical filling, had a nice rich flavor to it with a unique homemade sauce. The fillet was great as well, they did a awesome job with that steak, happy that they made sure both items were made to their full potential. Quite the steal for the price. Of coarse we had desert, got the caramel cheesecake which was a nice finish to our wonderful meal. If your in the awesome town of Pella make this one of your stops, you will come hungry and leave happy.

Fantastic place with a wonderful menu (saganaki or perfectly sauted brussel sprouts anyone? Very nice to get away from the typical sports bar or steakhouses of the area. This place actually has diversity in the menu. The appearance of the building doesn't do the justice to the atmosphere and justice. Look forward to visiting every time I pass through on business.

Drinks are great:) the garlic house dressing is amazing! Food is above average! Overall, good place! However, wait staff is hit or miss, and they need a cleaning service:(

Great atmosphere and plenty of menu selections. My husband had the two steak medallion dinner with blue cheese sauce which was very good and I had the Mediterranean shrimp which is pretty good. A little disappointed that our salad was all iceberg lettuce but the garlic Parmesan dressing was strong enough to cover the blah lettuce.

Came here for the first time from out of town. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The food portions were perfect and we all left full but not stuffed. Compliments to the chef who cooked my medallion steak and scallops!

After hearing rave reviews on this place, I was sorely disappointed. On a Saturday night about 9 p.m., the parking lot was full so I walked in expecting to be very pleased. The first three items we tried to order, were no longer part of the menu..so I would suggest they reprint their menus. We ordered an array of appetisers to experience a wide variety of options. The bruschetta was okay but was too heavy on the balsamic vinegar. The vinegar actually made the bread soggy. The sausage ravioli was a real disappointment because the menu touted a tomato/basil dipping sauce. As big fans of basil, we were looking forward to the dish, but again were disappointed to find no basil flavor at all. The appetizer sampler all tasted the same. Deep fat fried, frozen items that could have been Ore-Ida onion rings. There was no freshness to anything. Usually I am willing to give a place a second chance, but quite honestly, there were no redeeming reasons to go back again. The food is what you expect at a cheap, chain and not at a higher-scale restaurant. It will keep you from starving, but does not warrant a return trip. On another note, the ladies room is tired, weary and has a general state of uncleanliness. It makes me wonder if the kitchen is in a clean state since the ladies room is a public area. We won't be going back again...unless with a party that insists.

We had dinner. I had the chicken Parmesan which was great. One in our party had steak and the other salmon. All great. The only disappointment was my wife had Moussaka, which she didn't care for at all. She was quite disappointed since it appeared the owners were Greek. Nonetheless, I would recommend the place.

The best restaurant in Pella. Never been disappointed with anything! Great staff as well!

This is billed as a Greek restaurant...and yes, there are a few tasty Greek items on the menu, but there's a whole lot more for the Midwestern meat and potatoes fan. It's a nice, warm dining room.... nicely decorated...and a comfortable experience in spite of being a bit crowded. My moussaka was tasty. The rib eye on my companion's plate looked pretty darn thin, but I wasn't hearing any complaints. The server was just a shade over-friendly, but hey, this is small town Iowa!!

Excellent service, excellent food. We don't go out to eat often, but when we do Kaldera is one of our first choices.

Awesome. Restaurant with two sections - dining and lounge. I have never had food here that was not fabulous and the drinks are made to perfection. Sometimes the service can be weird/slow which is the only reason I did not give it a five star review.

Good food Priced right - Not over priced Overall, the food is good and it's priced right. I would not say the food was bad. For a smaller town, perhaps it's more of a 4 star. When you compare it to a big city, it's a 3.5 star kind of place. I would not hesitate to go back! I had the Athenian Chicken. It tasted good. Not a large portion. It came with a garlic bread that tasted as if it was a frozen pre-made slice.

I usually eat at the bar. I have eaten here over 5 times and can not order anything but the scallops. HUGE helping with rice that is delicious. Cook is very friendly and usually comes out to check up on his clients. staff is great too!! Never had an issue with anyone or any food.

Kaldera is wonderful! The owners care about every detail of this place. It shows in the quality of food to the beautifully decorated interior. The most popular dish is the hot mamma mia, served cheesy and bubbly. But don't stop with just that, there are so many great things. Saganaki is flamed at your table. Athenian chicken is perfection! My husband is addicted to the steak and feta salad. Salmon with dill sauce will make you sing. Prices are reasonable. This is not Applebees, you are getting real butter and real cheese. The chef is also the owner and cares about every dish he sends out. You would not expect this type of restaurant in Pella Iowa but it is well worth the drive. If you are in town for the tulip festival take some time to stop in at this gem, you will not regret it!

My wife and I eat here often because Pella is our hometown. We really like this place. Its a great alternative to the chain restaurants and wile there are a ton of great options there are some neat authentic dishes as well. It's a great place for a quiet, comfortable, yet elegant dinner.

If morality exists, it's judgement must be based on location and species. Here too I find the need to make a judgement of location; I'll leave species out of the equation. Kaldera is the best place to dine in Pella Iowa. Period. I am not suggesting it is worthy of high acclaim, unless judgement of its worth is location based, which it is, always. In New York, Kalderas doesn't make it past day one. But where restaurants are a luxury, Kalderas is a comfy leather recliner sure to please the travel weary diner. If you are in Pella, eat here. You won't be thrilled until you have exhausted all other options. And when you do eat here, you will be very comfortable with the results.

I have eaten there at least four or five times. I have yet to have a bad meal. Service was slow on of those visits but the atmosphere is nice enough we didn't mind sitting and waiting. The breaded green beans are great. I have enjoyed all of their pasta dishes I have eaten. Really enjoyed the gyro platter. A real gem in Pella. Much preferred over Applbee's

The servers suck, for a refill they take forever, their tables r not straight, their gyyo is pretty good, they have fine salads, but their chickens suck, very dry and raw. The place looks nice but doesnt meet ur expectations.

This is a great place to eat. Not all the dishes are great so just ask a waitor/ress. Great service. Unbeatable prices.

Hot mamma mia (a dish they serve) is fantastic. So are the gyro pitas. Good french fries and veggie pizzas.

Would give 4 1/2 stars if I could 'cos it takes a LOT to get to a full 5. It is great to have a decent restaurant in Pella that focuses on Greek-style entrees, pizzas and salads. The pitas they use are most likely made fresh on a proper Greek grill in-house and they are wonderful. They have a lounge/bar where you can also order food, and the regular restaurant side. Service was very good, atmosphere fine, background music relatively unobtrusive. We will doubtless go back there and try some of the other menu items, and I highly recommend this place.

This place is amazing!! I was in Pella for two nights for work, ate here both nights. The owner and his staff are kind, and the mousaka was the best I've had outside of Greece!! There is a restaurant and lounge, prices are very reasonable, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Would be a great place for dates, or catching up with friends. If i'm ever in the area again, Kaldera will be my first stop!
