Date 12/08/2011 Today me, my girl friend, and her daughter went to Muscatine's Peking restaurant for lunch. We arrived at 11:30 AM Since it had been quite a long time since we had eaten there. We were really anticipating our meal. We are life long residents of Muscatine and have eaten there many times, but it had been several months since we had eaten there. For the most part we were very disappointed with our noon meal. Egg rolls and tea were excellent. Girl friends daughter had pepper steak and said that it was good. But that is where our good experience ended. The fried chicken wings (which is served with every meal) was not hot, and had a refrigerator taste. As a result, none of us ate them. Next the crab rangoons were hard as a rock and dried out badly. As a result, none of us ate them either. I ordered sweet and sour chicken (my long time favorite at Pekings). This was very disappointing also. The rice and the chicken, were both a little warmer that room temperature. The sweet and sour sauce was cold, right out of the refrigerator which did not help, with a meal that is best eaten hot. My girl friend ordered sweet and sour pork, and all the same details apply. We each sampled the other's entree and we could not tell any difference, just as if they used the same meat for both entrees. Needless to say, we didn't bring left overs home. We are not going back any time soon! This evening I spoke with one of my daughters, whom I knew ate there frequently in the past. Her favorite, just like her father, is sweet and sour chicken. She advised that she no longer eats there, having had the same experience more than once. Needless to say, something has changed over time, at this eatery.
