First time coming here for dinner, so we were not entirely sure as to what to expect. Service was good on this visit (maybe due to getting the same server we normally have for breakfast) which was nice because really good service is a crap shoot here. The dinner fare can be described as well prepared and ample portions. Good but not great. I think breakfast is where it's at for this restaurant.

Basic diner fair, pretty simple stuff on the menu and cheap in price. Had the chopped steak, it was not seasoned enough. Really could use way more seasoning to give it some flavor! The hashbrowns need more browning as well. Just a few things different and this place would be a lot better.

Good old fashioned diner fare. Breakfast is particularly good. Staff rocks, very friendly. Price is very reasonable and you can leave with leftovers every time. Try the Horseshoe.

Food is basic diner fare. Service is good. However, they do not take AMEX.

Waitresses are almost always great. Food is constantly good. Always love to go to Muscatine because it means a trip to the Farmers! My daughter has at least a dozen stuffed animals from the claw machine won by staff and patrons.

In an ideal world, I would have the eggs and wheat toast from Muscatine Family, the bacon from Farmer's Diner. And the coffee from Elly's Tea and Coffee House. All served at Muscatine Family Restaurant, because their staff was friendlier. Came in for breakfast here on a Sunday morning. The service was very slow. I stood waiting for someone to seat me for several minutes. Then, once an employee came up to the cash register, he walked away without asking me what I needed. The food also took a bit of time. Not exceptionally long, just not that quick action you expect from a diner-type establishment. The personalities though, they were straight from New Jersey. Straight to the point, no chit-chat. They had a small but plentiful breakfast buffet for $7.99 (scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon, french toast, potatoes, biscuits and gravy). However, I was in the mood for runny eggs, so I ordered the Farmer's Special (2 eggs, hash browns, toast, and a half order of biscuits and gravy). I also got a side of bacon. The food was a mixed bag. The eggs were cooked right. The hash browns could have used more browning though. It's like they were put on the griddle, covered, and that's it. A little crunchy, a lot of white flavorless. The bacon was outstanding though, very flavorful. The biscuits and gravy were disappointing. Like at the Muscatine Family Restaurant, very little sausage in the gravy. And it had a slightly sweet taste to it. Maybe they use the same vendor for Gravy-in-a-Bag?
