Very unique space, we loved the venue! Unfortunately the staff is terrible at communication and organizing, that is our warning. I would recommend this space for a wedding but if you can get out of planning the wedding with the pavilion staff and hiring your own wedding planner I would definitely go that route. We were very disappointed in the service and food and how most of our requests were not met for the price we paid. Also beware: our initial food tasting was fantastic, the food that was served to our guests was much lower quality. You are paying for the unique venue space, the staff didn't seem to know what they are doing when it came to the night of the wedding.

After being seated, we waited 15 mins. and were not acknowledged. No water, no menus, nothing. They're very understaffed. We gave up and went elsewhere.

At the corner of State Highway 86 and US 71 lies a patch of land that once contained a water park by the Boji Bay name. I went years ago with my step-daughter. It was fun splashing around, but it was a bit of a bake in the wide open space. This version of water world didn't make it and now the property is being re-imagined into another type of tourist destination. I walked in last week because I wanted to see the old Fun House attractions. The Slide, Barrell, and Sugar Bowl looked great, and busy open restaurant and bar looked inviting. I also saw a newspaper ad about a future hockey rink and with the unused space (both inside and out), it looks like this is part of a larger master plan. Let's hope that their hospitality service model works itself through to profitability and towards being a valued community resource.

This was our first visit to Blu - also know as the Boji Fun House. Their website claims "You won't find the nostalgic Fun House Toys mixed with the elegant sophistication that Boji Bay Fun House Pavilion offers anywhere else on the planet!". The concept is interesting, but lacking. The night we were their we couldn't ride the slide because they ran out of waivers, not a big deal. You would think that on a Saturday night they would have enough waivers though... We split two entrees, first we ordered the Herb Crusted Walleye $24, the walleye was heavily battered, think Long John Sliver fish sticks. The batter on the bottom of the fish was soggy since it appeared to be baked, not pan fried so the juices from the walleye pooled under the fish as cooking. I had two bites and that was more than enough for me. The fish was soggy, coupled with the thick batter, I was done. I ordered the Risotto $16. I managed to eat less than a 1/4 of it. The risotto was so over cheesy , nowhere on the menu did it say that it would be drowning in cheese. I was expecting traditional Risotto; Italian rice cooked in broth to a creamy consistency. I did not expect the broth to be cheese. As a culinary experience goes, we will not be back. You can get a better meal at so many of the other restaurants in the area. Considering you are the only restaurant in the Okoboji area that gave me a black napkin, it was not a black napkin dining experience. We will not be back.

Went to boji blu tonight first time. Arrived at 5:40 pm. Was told by the hostess no seating was open until 9 pm. Meanwhile 80% of the restaurant was open tables. Everybody I know who has been here to eat says the service is terrible. Cool concept , huge bar was not being tended either. No chance this place makes it unless something changes.

We loved the ambience - our waitress was great and there were a few creative options along with more traditional fare on the menu -our food and drinks came out fast-the tables were spaced farther apart than most restaurants which made it feel more private. Also we rode the old wooden pavilion slide (no charge!) - fun! Prices were moderate. We had called ahead for reservations, the night we were there was busy but not packed. They just opened this summer, i don't care for the layout of their website at all (one star there) and I heard they will be adding other activity options like a swim up pool bar outside- I will go back -facility and restaurant not a one star for us.

Very disappointing...We arrived at 8:30 on a Saturday night and they would not even seat us. Apparently the kitchen was backed up and they were not even willing to let us sit at the bar until they were caught up. Seems strange when the kitchen was scheduled to be open until 10. You would think a newer restaurant would be willing to stay open to accommodate customers at that time.

I was expecting way better from this restaurant. I live in the area and came many times for their Carmel toffee desert. Every single time we've had the issue of long wait times and poor service. At times it's taken over 15 minutes to be seated even with a reservation, and then over twenty for our server to even ask about our main order. I've read the poor reviews and agree with them. As much as I'd like to rate them high for the decent food, the consistently long wait times and poor service stop me from doing so. Also, seeing its near the end of the season, we found out the entrees were limited to burgers a few salads, chicken, and Pizza. Nothing classy at all about this evening. They even removed the main deserts that we come for every time. This also happens if there is a wedding party or event using the upstairs area. There is no notice of these events, the best way to avoid is by calling ahead. Hopefully next season there will be new management, otherwise they have truly lost my business.
