First pizza I ever had that didn't come out of a freezer! That was 40 years ago and the pizza and the place are both the same and both great! From the Hamms beer sign to the Venice mural, I swear it hasn't changed at all! Food is fresh, and contrary to one negative post, the iceberg lettuce salad is great. Did I mention: Coldest beer in town? Prices are reasonable and I have always had good, courteous service. I hear the fried chicken is great, but can't bring myself to. order anything but Italian food! Nothing fancy, but we love it!

I grew up with Marco's pizza and its one of my favorites, if not my favorite, pizza of all time. Try the hot sausage pizza. Although, like I said, I bias cause i grew up with it. Almost every time I'm back in Dubuque, I try to order pizza from here. The rest of their food isn't bad either. Eating at Marco's is always interesting. For one, the place has a real divey feel. Like they are going for that classic old time divey feel, only then didn't go out and buy pre-worn items or retro remade items, their stuff is actually old and poorly maintained. I kinda like that though, lots of character. If you go into Marco's to eat and are under the age of 35 you will be treated like you are an incompetent 8 year old by 60 something year old waitresses that look like they have lived a rough life. I would be offended by it if I didn't find it so damn entertaining.

Disclaimer: I am not one to write negative reviews. Caveat: My boyfriend and I typically eat organic whole food at home This restaurant sucks sucks sucks. We have thrown around the idea of going here for months, and we finally tried it on a Wed night. Never again! "Salad" (iceberg, carrot, celery) is sitting in a pool of water. Nasty. Bread is served with whipped spread. No real butter available, despite the fact that the specialty claims the pasta is tossed in butter. Spicy spaghetti was actually decent, exactly what I imagine spaghetti to taste like. The whole experience was just straight up WEIRD. We had a question about the bill, and the waitress freaked out and was clearly terrified to go speak to the "chef" i.e. psycho abusive slave driver. The owner idiot came out and when we tried to explain the situation he nearly grabbed her and walked her back toward the wall and reamed her out in front of us. We literally were scared she would be hit. Some other manager lady said don't worry she's not at all intimidated by him. The whole time we're just trying to pay and telling the cook to his face how insane this is and how we're never coming back. Not normal!

Pesto pasta was the best I've ever eaten and the cannoli is perfect. For being the original decor and a bit dark I found this restaurant charming, comfortable and authentic

One of my favorite local restaurants! Their pizza is delicious! Also, their baked mostaccioli is one of my favorites!

My lettuce salad was just that - iceberg lettuce and salad dressing (and a half cup of water) pretty gross. Unfortunately, that wa s the best part of the meal. I had spaghetti al pesto which is the house special. The pasta was overcooked and mushy. The service was indifferent and did not add anything to the experience.

Decided to come back and give Marcos another chance. I'm happy to say that the service was much better this time around, and the pizza was still delicious. The entire restaurant is now non-smoking (thank you, state of Iowa!) so that's no longer a reason to stay away. And the place still feels like it's come out of a time capsule. Best of all: the prices are cheap, especially compared to other pizza places in town. Atmosphere: four stars; Pizza: four stars; service: three stars: Value: four stars.

Caveat: this is only a pizza review! My husband has been eating here since he was a little boy and despite living in Chicago area and traveling all over the country, this is still his favorite thin crust pizza! We order one whenever we can when we come to visit!

Simplicity can sometimes win out in the long run. And Marco's was just that. I went with a Dubuque native who insisted that Marco's was incredible, especially this spaghetti al pesto she kept hankering about. The atmosphere had this strange charm to it that is hard to explain. Our waitress was very friendly. The salad was not very good, as my guest warned me beforehand, but no problem. I'll never judge a restaurant solely on its salad. The spaghetti al pesto? Just a simple dish with simple ingredients. And it was very delicious. There. Simplicity has won.

My family and i discovered this place about 4 months ago and it has become our favorite place in town. The Pizza is among the best I've ever had. it's thin crust and amazing. The service can be a little hit or miss but the food is TOP shelf and the prices are fantastic. If you like small out of the way places this place is a must if you are in town.

It's a shame only one other person decided to review Marco's, but that certainly doesn't mean 99% of Dubuque doesn't know about this place. Everyone I know who has gone to Marco's has loved it. And if you don't like it, well, you clearly aren't a true fan of amazing Italian food. This has been my family's favorite Italian restaurant since I was a little girl, and I have no shame in admitting that for the past 10+ years, I've gotten the same thing almost every time: SPAGHETTI AL PESTO. Get this. It's one of the greatest dishes I've had. So simple yet so good. My parents also love their manicotti and other various pastas but I can't ever bring myself to get something other than the spaghetti al pesto. I've also had their pizza which is truly amazing, as well. In other words, you can't go wrong with anything you get from Marco's. It's been family owned/operated since it opened and the servers/bartenders are always very friendly, chatty, and loud (duh, they're Italian). I love this place. There's not much I miss about my hometown, but Marco's is definitely on the list.

My wife and I have been going to Marco's for years. The food is good to great on occasions, salads are just OK, and the bar is the worst in the entire area. Bar drinks are usually made by a part-timer who has made very few mixed drinks. Too bad, it could really be something special.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
