Nice place to grab sushi or bento style lunch. They provide great service, great dishes, and reasonable price points for their food. I have had several pieces of sushi that were of good quality, no complaints on that front. Their entree were good and of decent sized portions as well. Usually in and out when I come here for lunch. Has a nice atmosphere inside with good food. Overall good choice for lunch or dinner if you are in the mood for Japanese style cuisine.

I am from out of town and love sushi. This was sub par sushi. I have had better from a supermarket. I guess I am just spoiled by the sushi back home in Indianapolis. Rolls did not match their descriptions and when I asked they argued with me. Way to treat your customers.

Absolutely wonderful food and atmosphere! We had seen this place a few times during visits to Dubuque but hadn't gotten around to visiting it. I'm so glad I had a serious need for sushi and decided to go here. Atmosphere: it is a very pleasant restaurant with a bar near the front, a sushi bar along the left wall (just past the regular bar), and plenty of seating in the sushi area. We didn't go to the hibachi side, but it looked like it was made up of the other half of the restaurant. Food: my girlfriend ordered the Yaki Udon with a California roll. I ordered the Sushi deluxe. She loved the Yaki Udon and stated that the California roll was the best she had ever had. The nigiri sushi tasted fresh and the slices were not skimpy in the least. !0 pieces came on the plate, which were just enough to satisfy my cravings. The tuna roll that came with it was also very good. Staff: they were very friendly, attentive, and polite. Overall we are exceptionally happy with this place and it will become one of our regular restaurants when we come to Dubuque.

I recommend the Dubuque roll, their ginger dressing is fantastic! The staff is very respectful and the hibachi artists are very talented and wonderful. My steak is always cooked perfectly.

Well folks, it's my last straw with this place and I felt the need to share my feelings about my experience. I'm not a picky eater when it comes to Asian cuisine. But I've traveled a bit and have experienced delicious sushi and noodle bowls in multiple cities around the country. So now that I've established the fact that I know good food, let me explain why I'm giving them a 1 star rating. My history with Ichiban is a rocky one. I know the owner so you'd think that put her in my favor. But I've had rude waiters and my fair share of soggy sushi. So when my friend suggested we go, I decided to be a good sport and give it one last shot. We both ordered the Nabe Yaki Udon bowl. It was my first time ordering this dish at Ichiban. The chicken was nasty and gummy. The udon noodles tasted like cardboard. The mushroom was disgusting. And the broth made Campbells taste like heaven. We both hated it. It took awhile to get anyone's attention, I felt as if they were purposely avoiding our table. After flagging the waitress down, we explained the dish was not good and we didn't want it. Soon the hostess came over ready to fight. She had an attitude and was very demeaning. She questioned us as if we don't know what a noodle bowl is suppose to taste like. She even defended the chicken! I don't recommend eating here. Bad food. Bad staff.

The best sushi in Dubuque! The sushi is amazing, hibachi is amazing and the service is amazing. I can't say anything negative about Ichiban.

Great food and atmosphere. from the Sushi and Sashimi to the hibachi grill. I recommend sitting at the Sushi bar if you can, they will provide free appetizers! (must be a party of two or less).

Can't find any better sushi in Midwest other than this place. Price is decent for the good real sushi and fresh sashimi.

Excellent Filet, great Hibachi Chefs, and very reasonable pricing for a Hibachi grill. Can't find prices like this in Chicago. Kudos!

They gave a free tasting of super white tuna sashimi. 3 large pieces. It was amazing. Everything I had tasted fresh, and the rice was delicious. You can tell a sushi restaurant cares when their rice is on point. I had the Out of Control roll and a Spicy Tuna handroll. Both were delicious :) If I'm ever back in Dubuque, this is where I will be eating :)

I love coming here. The wait staff is always super friendly and have begun to recognize the group i come with. The service is quick and you rarely have to wait long for a table even though they are always busy. Both sushi and hibachi are excellent. Every sushi roll I've tried has between delicious. You always get something extra when sitting at the sushi bar. Though I've had better sushi before I'm definitely happy to have this option in dubuque.

stop here any time we're traveling along this stretch of university avenue or along nearby dodge street and we're in the mood for great service and fine cuisine. try a tempura box. it's deep fried in a light coconut batter. Too much food for this soul to eat the to go box was packed to the rIm..

Awesome meal. Have been here twice in 3 weeks. Considering I'm from Vermont that's saying something about how good it is! Love the hibachi grill.

Excellent Hibachi for a great price. Would definitely go back next time I'm in Dubuque.

Food was typical for a hibachi restaurant. Fun environment, chefs were great. But overall food was bland and chewy. We still had a great time! The sushi (spicy tuna and salmon) was minced. Which I hate. But it had good spice and taste. Great place for a first date or with kids.

Great place to dine. Upon arrival, we are always greeted immediately and seated. The waitstaff is attendant and friendly. They all work as a great team! The sushi is beautiful and authentic. The pricing is decent and what is to be expected for sushi in the area. I've been fortunate to have eaten sushi all over the country and Ichiban is right up there! I've been here numerous times and it really has more creative flair than Taiko. This is definitely one of Dubuque's hottest restaurants!

I have been here at least a dozen times for sushi- lunch and dinner. The sashimi combo is great for a light meal that feels indulgent. Yesterday my family and I had the hibachi for the first time and it was a lot of fun. Excellent service- way better than your average restaurant of any kind.

We've eaten here a few times and the service is hit or miss. The sushi is fairly good for a non-coastal location and they have a decent list of creative rolls. The hibachi dinners are what we've enjoyed the most.
