Zimm's has become our favorite local spot fir a great drink and Great food! The burgers are the best in town( try the Doo Dah burger- peppered bacon and cheddar-SO good!) and their Macho Nachos- a half order feeds 3 and they are Excellent! Tell bartender Chuck what you're in the mood for, drink-wise, and he'll fix you up! This place is a hidden gem on Ingersoll!!

Came here for the first time and had to try the Macho Nachos that everyone is raving about, was not disappointed they are awesome and very delicious. The jalapeños were very mild and not hot at all. I would definitely come back and have the nachos again. Yummy.

Zimms is kind of a secret find: less popular than Wellmans that's a little further down the road, but with pool, darts, and other games in the back, definitely worth a visit. The staff is friendly and they offer great drink and happy hour specials. Their long islands taste great (not very strong), but when I went, they were on special for $2. Nothing fancy about the ambience, but no one is too loud or too crazy which adds to the experience.

Zimm's is a cool sports bar with pool tables, a patio, a push button juke box, and yes they have a POPCORN machine! Super nice staff, lots of Tv's for watching games and a pretty extensive bar food menu! I have never eaten anything here but BEER and Free POPCORN! But the food always looks really good for bar food and the staff is always cool! Love the patio most of all for hanging in the summertime!

Great wings and nachos! They have some good drink specials and do buy one, get one Bloody Mary's on the weekends. Also, one of the few shuffleboard tables in town!

Love going to Zimm's for sports. The food is really good depending on who is cooking that night, but the Happy Hour is great!

Another one that I should have updated years ago. Iowa has a no-smoking law so there is no longer an issue with smoking. At least not nearly as much of an issue; some places are not too good at following the law. Anyway, that should no longer be a factor, but I'll bet the horse's *** is still the owner/manager/whatever.

I kind of forgot about Zimm's for awhile. Easy to do; it's so close to several other bars on Ingersoll with bigger and better patios. Luckily, on this lovely spring day we chose to head to Zimm's for food and drinks. First, Zimm's is not the kind of place where you need to worry about how you look. Wear whatever you want; no one is going to judge your hair or your clothes here. Second, the prices are excellent - especially for the surprisingly decent bar food. Zimm's has a pretty standard selection of beers on tap - nothing too special or exciting - but they have a fairly extensive menu for a bar. Love their nachos (homemade flour tortilla chips!) - the fried mushrooms were also really good. I had a bloody mary that was just OK, but it was sure priced right.. There are bigger patios on Ingersoll, but the service at Zimm's is solid and the food is very decent (not to mention CHEAP). Hopefully I won't forget about this place again!

Just drink here, don't eat. The food here is terrible. I got a salad once (I know, who gets a salad at a bar?!) and it was wilted and brown.

Cheap, stiff drinks poured by some of the best bartenders in town. This is one of the most comfortable bars in town, yet there is always a great diversity in clientele. Always friendly. Just a great, no frills neighborhood bar. Zimm's often gets overlooked in favor of Wellman's, but that's okay. Just makes it easier to get a drink and you don't have to put up with all the meatheads. Also, one of the best happy hours in town and great drink specials on most nights. Food is your standard bar fare, but done really well. You'd be surprised at how difficult it can be to find a really good bar burger in these parts.

Went there regularly for years and still stop by from tile to time. Familiar faces at and behind Tue bar always recognize me and yell hi as soon as I enter Tue front door.

Go late on a Sunday night. All the strippers in Des Moines congregate in the back with their thugged-out friends. If you are into that sort of thing.

This is were I spent my post college years after work, if you are a serious drinker this place rocks. One of the more eclectic crowds in town, if you don't like the scene just wait a night. It's comfortable, you don't need a stripped button up shirt to get in. One hell of a juke box, well they had one of the cool mp3 ones first. They got darts, pool, damn good bar food. I miss going to Zimms, but my liver doesn't. Great for watching the game, or getting sloppy drunk.
