I literally grew up eating at this place. It's classic Denison. I've never had a bad meal here, and I've eaten here hundreds of times. I took a skeptical employee of mine while we were on business. She loved the place. The Sunday Brunch will blow you away, at least on a Denison scale.

As an out of towner visiting family, checked the place out and got a classic breakfast with friendly staff and reasonable prices.

I was on a business trip and needed an affordable lunch in Denison. I am a big fan of finding local businesses to support when I travel and avoiding fast food. The food was really good and plentiful for a good price. Had leftovers for an afternoon snack. The decor is a bit tired but the service and food were both great.

In the interest of full disclosure, I stopped into Cronk's while riding my motorcycle home from Nebraska in a rainstorm, so my enthusiasm may be directly related to the fact that I was indoors, and there was no longer water seeping into my crotch. Anyway, Cronk's! It is a restaurant/diner/lounge/bar in the small town of Denison, Iowa. My riding buddy and I found a coat closet that didn't appear intended for customers, but hung up our wet riding gear in it anyway, and no one seemed to mind. Lounge was closed - it noon on a Sunday, and not in Wisconsin :) - so we sat in the main dining area. Classic old diner decor, an old shake machine, and swiveling chairs at the long counter, where we took up residence. There appeared to be a nice brunch set up in a banquet facility type room in the back, but we'd eaten in Lincoln and were just snacking. I had a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie with whipped cream and a cup of coffee. The girl was nice enough to leave me a whole carafe, probably because I resembled a drowned rat. The pie was good, with a nice flaky crust, though the filling was a bit syrupy sweet. Glad I had opted for whipped cream on it. We sat around while the storm blew thru, made small talk with the friendly staff, and eventually paid our tiny, ridiculously inexpensive bill and set out across IA. If you've been to a place like Cronk's, in a town like Denison, you'll feel right at home and simply enjoy it for what it is. If it is a new experience for you, just sit down, relax, and find someone nearby to ask about the weather. You'll do fine.

The service was good and the place is clean. The food was classic cafe food. Nothing too special but of a good quality. Regular cafe environment.

Cronk's excels at their Sunday breakfast buffet. My family loves the occasional treat of going to Cronk's after church on Sunday morning. They usually have a packed house. They serve omelets to order, Belgian waffles, fresh carved ham, biscuits & gravy, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, donuts, fruit, and the list goes on. You never walk away hungry.

Pretty good for a mom and pop or truck stop cafe even though it isn't. Your basic menu items nothing out there. Go for their special brunch and evening buffets when they have them. I think it's more of a staple because they've been there a long time not for there food.

My wife and I brought my parents here today (11/22/2010) at lunch. We both had the pork tenderloin sandwich. They were way over cooked and sawdust dry. Thin and really dry. Mom had the prime rib sandwich. Was left over from Saturday (today is Monday). Burned dark brown and very dry. Swiss cheese on it to try and cover it up so you couldn't see how gross it was. My Dad's roast beef sandwich with potatos and gravy. Roast beef had a green sheen and tasted reheated. Potatoes and gravy both instant and too thick and like glue. Shame on Cronks for allowing this awful food be served.
