My husband and I are frequent, happy customers at the Family Restaurant. We both have our favorite dishes...he loves the broiled catfish, or the liver and onions (I am just happy I don't have to cook liver in my kitchen). Although I have tried many things on their extensive menu, most of the time I can't get past their incredible Spinach Pie. HOLY COW...it's only $8.50, and it is served with a huge, wonderful Greek salad as well as cottage cheese and peaches. They always bring a basket of crusty rolls and crackers to the table -- and they actually provide REAL BUTTER.

Gyro Salad w Ranch is the only thing that matters in Davenport. Side note: the Chopped Steak is a very solid choice and any chance to snatch a few fried zucchinis, go for it. Also the fried chicken is so good you'll want to die.

Extremely poor service, took 15 minutes until the waitress even came to our table, and then after that she kept on forgetting to bring items we asked for and messed up the order because the waiters were too busy talking to each other to actually serve. The Baby Beef Liver was tender but extremely stringy and hard to cut through, the bacon was undercooked and limp, poor food poor service,do not come here

Having many Greek-owned restaurants in and around Chicago, The Family Restaurant can be described as typical for a Greek-owned restaurant. The wife and I were looking for a sit-down restaurant on a Tuesday evening around 7:30pm. Parking lot was moderately crowded during a weekday..... (mind you, it was a Spring break week and I'm presuming that parents decided to take the week off along with their kids). Decor was "modern 70's but was clean and comfortable. Service was reasonably prompt and staff were friendly. Food was hot and fresh. I had the Hot Hamburger Sandwich and my wife had the Hot Turkey Sandwich... both were open-faced sandwiches with mashed potatoes and gravy. Good food at a good price.

We are from out of town! Would recommend this restaurant to everyone! You won't leave hungry. Double portions, excellent food, and fast service. Good prices too!

The Family Restaurant had a late 1980s decor, with a menu to match. This isn't such a bad thing! If it ain't broke, don't fix it! With almost everything on the menu under $10, the Family Restaurant had breakfast all day, club sandwiches, burgers, Italian and Greek dishes. I think everyone in your family will find something that they like here! Nothing is too fancy, so they make everything well! I recommend the Family Restaurant to anyone looking for good, simple Cuisine Americana. If you found this review helpful, please take a second to compliment it, rate it as helpful and become a fan!

I used to come here when I was in college 15 years ago and the food is still as great now as it was then Best omlets in the area.

I am really surprised that I am only the second person to review this place. It has been a few years since I've been there, but every other weekend when I visited my dad in Davenport, this is where we went for breakfast. I always got the steak and eggs. Everything is double-portioned. Instead of two eggs you get four, and you get a great serving of shredded hashbrowns with four pieces of toast. Wish there was a place like that here in Cedar Rapids...most places give skimpy servings for a $10 steak and egg breakfast. Good atmosphere and the servers and cooks were always great.
