New place can get better. Great experience, food was great (cheese curds). Friendly staff. Try for yourself.

We used a Chipperdeal here and was curious about the takeover of Scott Street Pub. Looking at the menu prior, I was super stoked for cheese curd bites and the cuban sandwich! The location itself has okay parking. We ended up parking on the street. The interior is nice, as I think they've remodeled since Scoot Street. The interior is decorated appropriately for a Sport's Bar. The women's restroom was also clean and comfortable. My husband and I ordered the fried cheese curd which was to die for. I love them in ranch. I was hoping they'd have a soft pretzels with cheese, but the pretzel they offer are just the little cheap stick pretzels. For our meals, we ordered the cubano sandwich and the Ham Cheese Cholo sandwich. The cubano was not my favorite as i didn't enjoy the combination of porks. This was my first time trying it, so it may have just been me. The ham sandwich was delicious and had jalapeño cream cheese, mmmmm. For dessert I ordered the root beer float for $4.50 thinking it's be delicious having root beer from the tap. Nope! IT tasted chemically and was served a small beer stein. Definitely not worth the $4.50. I'd definitely come back here for the food. Though I wish they'd add a few more items to their appetizers and dessert menu.

Although I miss Scott St. Pub, I wasn't disappointed by Victory. We went there for lunch on a Sunday and we were the first people there (which might have been why our service was awesome!) I had "Mickeys Club" which was huge and pretty good, while my husband had "The Cubano" which was absolutely delicious, their deli mustard was amazing! The fries (although definitely not healthy) were fantastic. It was a little pricey for bar food, and they charged us extra for sauces but overall we will be returning when we're in the Bluffs!

This place continues to impress us! Great food, great amount for your price, and today excellent attentive service. We will be back. Oh also the onion petals were amazing today!

Service is beyond poor, no matter the time of week or how busy, this place needs some serious attention to detail. Sitting at the bar with less than10 people In the place and have to ask for service every round. If you want to make it in CB this is not the way to do it! Will come back, because supporting local business is the right thing to do. Ownership needs to "get with it".

Super friendly staff. Their nachos can feed a small army and they have amazing happy hour specials.

We stop in once a week on the average. At the beginning the food was great. We order the nachos everytime. Recently they have changed and they are horrible. Previously the great food was worth sitting through the poor service. Last night we went in with a group of about 10 people and it was like pulling teeth to get waited on. We finally had to ask someone to take our food order. He rolled his eyes as if we were imposing and said yes. Trying to get drinks was also a chore. The service is the worst part of this establishment. The guy with the lip piercing is by far the worst server I have ever encountered. We won't be back.

Great sports bar with an impressive craft beer list. These guys even have Toppling Goliath! Love the 85" big screen. The Swiss mushroom burger had great flavor. Big improvement over the old Scott St. Pub.

I was very excited to try this place. I love the concept -- craft beer paired with hearty, locally sourced foods. I'd say my first visit fell short of my expectations. Here's what I liked: -Great concept and just what Council Bluffs needs (have you been to downtown CB lately? It's awesome, btw). -The menu has a nice variety, from healthy salads to giant sandwiches. -Both the bartender and my server were super friendly and helpful. -Good selection of beer, including a special house pale ale only available at the Victory. Here's what I didn't like: -On a hot Saturday afternoon when the place was mostly empty, it was a little dirty inside. The bar was sticky to the touch and there was a unsettling smell that kept wafting from the back into the dining area. -I ordered the Iowa Beer Brat, served on a pretzel bun. It was very good, but I was expecting some sort of garnishments. All it had was the ketchup and mustard available at the bar (both bottles were sticky, yuck). -I opted to swap the fries for a side salad, which was a $3 up charge. Fine. But the salad was just, sad. 100% iceberg lettuce (seriously?) topped with a raw onions, sliced cucumbers and tomatoes that were probably originally prepped for the burgers and simply cut in half and plopped on top of the lettuce. McDonald's offers a better side salad. Maybe I just stopped by on an off day. Happens I suppose. I do plan on going back but will be a little more cautious ordering food.

I really, really, really wanted to give 4 stars...but I can't. Let's start with the food: you guys, it's good. A lot of made from scratch stuff (the ranch dressing, Mmmmmmmm), and a lot of stuff that is made with pride and passion. Hand battered cheese curds. WOW. Poutine! Love that they have it, but way way WAY too salty. Burgers, buffalo chicken, etc. Standard bar food. Done well. Done fresh. Beer? A ton of great, local choices. Local is the thing and these guys do it well. Tried a wheat beer from Des Moines after the bartender asked for my preferences (he even gave me several samples), and it was really, really good. Sadly, I forget the name. Sorry! But the service, you guys. The service. Dang. I've read a few other reviews and have heard a common refrain: waitstaff just seems......to forget about you. On both occasions my wife and I waited agonizingly long times for someone to acknowledge we were there, to take our drink order, to bring us our check. We could clearly see our waiter at the bar, serving others, back at the bar.... But they just wouldn't, frankly, do their job. I hate to say it. Hate to be harsh. But the service is just...awful. And I'm not sure what's worse -- being oblivious to the fact that you're providing bad service or knowingly doing it. Feels like the Victory waitstaff almost doesn't know any better. Have they never served before? Been served? It's just...kind of strange. They're so nice and friendly...but then they just forget about you. And then there's the smoking outside. Back door is open to the patio and people are smoking right by the door while the air circulates it all inside... Why why why have these outdoor dining areas become the new smoking sections at restaurants? Why can't smokers realize that if they smoke RIGHT NEXT to the door that the non-smoking diners inside are going to be affected? I just don't get it. So, restaurants (Victory), designate a smoking area AWAY from diners and try to enforce this as much as possible. Because your food and your beer are really good, and Council Bluffs needs a place like this to do well! One last thought... Deep-fried, hand battered cheese curds with made-from-scratch Ranch dressing. WOW. So good.

It's a great place to go to be ignored... The two of us sat at the bar. Prior to shift change, Lori took good care of us. After shift change we apparently became invisible. We had asked for a food menu, but nobody could even be bothered to see if we wanted to place an order. And our drinks sat empty for quite some time before anyone could be made to notice. While they had an acceptable selection of craft beers, even the video display menu was out of date so every beer I wanted to try was no longer in stock. There are better places to grab a beer...

We went there last night. Although the country music was blasting, the service was amazing. The bartender did a great job of taking care of the customers and entertaining behind the bar. We frequented the old Scott Street, and while I miss it sometimes, I like the new interior design and the quality of mixed drinks has improved greatly.

Love the food, patios, cable TV. The hand battered cheese curds with house made ranch are ridiculously awesome. Great beer selection.

We just spent 6 months in Council Bluffs. The last 3 days we discovered this Gem! We ate there twice in 3 days! Loved their chicken wings & cheese curds! I don't usually eat french fries but their's are amazing! Food was fresh & served hot! Beer was cold and reasonably priced. Great spot in a town very lacking for something other than chains & bar food. This is not your typical bar food!!!

My wife and I went to Victory Grills Sports and Tap for the first time this past Saturday and we were impressed. It used to be Scott Street which was an okay bar in downtown CB. Victory opened a couple months ago and an article in the local paper said that they made a lot of their food from scratch and some of the meat, mostly pork, was raised locally, which I'm always excited to support. My wife and I picked up a Chipper Deal, (like a Groupon), which is the push we needed to go try it out. You walk in and everything looks really nice. The warm feel of the wood from the tables, chairs, and bar give it a really good feel. The menu isn't big, but they do have a lot of sandwiches and apps. The service was very friendly and knowledgeable. My wife and I ordered the fried cheese curds, Cubano Sandwich, and the Ham Cheese Cholo sandwich. The fried cheese curds were amazing. I am definitely going to get that again. the Ham Cheese Cholo sandwich was amazing. They use real ham instead of deli ham, which definitely makes a difference, and the jalapeno cream cheese was a nice touch. The Cubano sandwich was huge and pretty tasty; (I attached a pic to their Yelp page). I felt that it was missing something for being a Cubano sandwich, but I still can't put my finger on it. One of the big things that I like is that with every sandwich, you get a 1/2 pound of their homemade, hand cut french fries, which were delicious! One thing that I can't get over is the price of their Root Beer float. It's $4.50 so I expected it to be pretty big, but it was actually pretty small; (my wife attached a pic of it to their Yelp page). Their was one scoop of ice cream with some Root Beer in a small mug. The Root Beer wasn't really that good either. I thought Mug was better. I'm assuming the reason why it was so expensive is because the Root Beer is made in Iowa, but still, I don't see any way that I would pay $4.50 for that Root Beer Float again. Overall, with a lot of food items being homemade and the decent prices, on most things, I am already thinking about what I'm going to get when I go back. I'm thinking the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and an order of their fried cheese curds.

Finally made it here today for lunch. The interior of this place looks great and it is definitely somewhere I would hang out. We ordered the B&B Burger and the Fried Chicken Sandwich - both with hand cut fries. The burger was purposely overcooked (menu says all burgers are med well). It came blackened and topped with bacon, bleu cheese crumbles & homemade bleu cheese dressing. It was good but could have been much better if cooked medium. The chicken sandwich was just fair. It had an odd "hard" bottom to the chicken breast that made it hard to take bites. The fries were great and cooked very well for fresh cut. I would definitely come back again and have drinks and appetizers.

I met friends there last night for drinks and appetizers. For those of you familiar with the sewer smell of the building - it is still there but didn't seem as strong. They were working on cleaning out the basement so hopefully there is some progress being made that will allow someone to find the problem and fix it. Our server was friendly and quick to help. The appetizers we ordered were not good. Onion Petals - They were either undercooked and doughy or a bad brand. It was a small order with four people tasting them and we still only ate about 2/3. Nachos - Very large serving of bad food. I may have tasted BBQ in the meat.... Once the sour cream and guacamole were used, there was nothing left to override the combined flavor of the nachos. We ate about 1/3 to 1/2. Quesadilla - Just not good. The one who ordered it may have finished it, but I think we tasted 3 of the 4 slices, and not sure anyone finished a slice. The server asked our opinion of the food after the onion petals and nachos. We were friendly but honest in expressing our opinions. She didn't come back and ask what we thought of the Quesadilla. We did not ask for any compensation and nothing was offered. None of the four of us intend to make a return visit.

More misses than hits! Started with the cheese curds ~ you could tell that these could be good... but unfortunately ours were so overcooked about half had the cheese cooked out of them, they were so dark and overcooked that i wondered how they could serve them! Next the entrees, chicken tenders and fries- dry chicken but good fries, mushroom burger- nothing on the menu said anything about mayo yet there it was ~somehow I think they put the burger on my fried chicken sandwich bun, once again what could have been good was ruined by the lack of thinking about the customer. Will I try it again? Probably on potential alone but I hope they improve.

I went here at lunch on Saturday with a peer. The service was more than helpful, very knowledgeable of the beers on hand, and had great recommendations for the menu items. We ordered and ate all of the following: Fried Cheese Curds....I highly recommend these golden balls of f'ing awesome. B&B Burger....cooked just right and very flavorful. Ham Chollo Melt with Pork Au Jus...this is a bad ass sandwich, but don't get it without Au Jus, seriously don't even think about it. Both sandwiches came with side salads that were pretty alright. As for the environment, I could definitely detect the legendary swamp scent that has been mentioned in a previous review. But it was only in whiffs and not constant. From our seats on the left hand side of the bar, you couldn't smell it at all. There were more than enough TVs throughout the establishment to fully qualify as a sports bar....including in the restrooms. I snuck into the ladies room to make certain they had one also. The music is played in insanely loud bursts (for midday on a Saturday) and seemingly at random. Of note, I never asked them to turn it down, so that may partially be my fault. This is a really nice Council Bluffs establishment and I will be getting drunk here again.

My friend and I checked this place out last night for dinner. We started with the cheese curds, which were tremendous. I had the char buffed wings with fries, and she had the shrimp po'boy. Both were pretty good, and portions are very generous. You can tell that they use a higher quality of ingredients than the average bar. One thing to keep in mind is, this is a bar. There are high tables and patio seating, but no traditional tables and seating. Also, like many of the reviews before mine, service is inconsistent. When we arrived, there was a sign at the host stand, telling us to wait to me seated. After standing by ourselves for 5 minutes, a server finally told us to seat ourselves. Then, we had to wait another 5 minutes to get our menus. Then, another 5 minutes to order our app. Then, another 10 minutes to order our dinner. Once our dinner was served, all of the sudden we got checked on every couple minutes. If they can work out the Jekyll and Hyde service, this place would easily have been 4 stars for me.
