Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

My husband and I discovered this place a few years ago on a road trip from STL, MO to South Dakota. We liked it so much that we made it a point to stop on our way back as well. Two years later, we still remembered it and planned our leave time from STL so we'd be in Council Bluffs around dinner time. It is still awesome! What amazes me the most is how one restaurant can do pizza AND steak so well. This trip, my husband and I shared a small pizza and a ribeye so we wouldn't have to choose between them.

PK is by far the beat pizza in the Omaha/Council Bluffs metro area. The service is great. They are a pretty busy pave so at times there can a wait. That being said, it is well worth the wait! ! Highly recommended!

My friend and I went here last night for dinner, and thought the joint was solid. I had the half fried chicken dinner, which came with salad, potato and choice of second side. (Only $13 bucks for all of this) The batter was very good, but the chicken a little on the fatty side. My friend had the hot beef sandwich, and she enjoyed hers quite a bit. The prices here are super reasonable and the service was very good. I plan on returning some point to try their pizza. (Which looked really good)

Went to Pizza King for the first time last Saturday night. It was extremely busy, but the service was fast and very friendly. Ordered a House Special pizza, which tasted great. I put it up against the big three pizza places in Omaha. Will definitely be back!

4.25 stars if I could. Had dinner here Friday night -- my first time at one of Council Bluff's highest rated restaurants -- and I couldn't believe how PACKED this place was. Dang. Steaks and prime rib flying out of the kitchen, hand-tossed pizzas...wow. Great little restaurant and a nice, classic, small town Italian joint feel to the place. Loved it. Then we got our pizza. Hamburger and mushrooms. Mmmm mmm mmm. With parmesan cheese? Pretty tasty. I will say that I could have used a little bit more sauce. It was definitely lacking...but it was still packed with flavor. Good and fresh. Delicious thin and crispy crust. Really, really impressed with this place, and now I'm no longer surprised by the fact that it's always packed. A great place to get a really good meal in good ol' Council Bluffs.

The PIzza King never fails to impress! Went here for a Friday dinner with a party of six, and were served by a great server named "Will." On top of fantastic service, the food remains great. This time, I ordered the prime rib, and it was very tender, juicy, and seasoned just right.

I was excited to try this place because I heard that it is a staple in CB. It is a very traditional dining room an old school menu. The prices are also reasonable. I ordered the fish almandine, which was the highlight of my dinner. It was crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. He rest of the meal was carb heavy (potato and pasta). The dinner salad was quite flavorless with the Italian dressing. My date ordered the chicken strip dinner and he gave it a 3 rating. Next time, I'm going to try the piZza.

The pizza has been excellent every time I've ordered from here. My favorite is the prime rib. The slices are enormous, and it's nice and bloody, as prime rib should be. I've only eaten inside the restaurant one time, many years ago. I always order carry out and the food is consistently good every time. I always look forward to ordering from Pizza King.

Growing up in Council Bluffs I have been to Pizza King more times than I can count. We have had wedding rehearsal dinners, family dinners, and some random nights with friends at Pizza King. The pizza is great! Different than your typical cheap pizza joint. They are generous with their toppings. Despite their name, they almost seem more like your typical steakhouse with amazing steaks, prime ribs, and pasta. Pizza King is the only place I will order prime rib. It is to die for! Best prime rib in the metro area. It is pricey but one night a week they do a prime rib special which is totally worth it. Also their blue cheese salad is fantastic with huge chunks of blue cheese and a great chunky blue cheese salad. The veal Parmesan is killer too. This place is a staple in CB and every night including week nights they are packed so they are doing something right.

Pizza King is continually our go-to for pizza in Council Bluffs. Their pizza is definitely all their own. The crust is thin and, maybe a deal breaker for some, not buttery and not overcooked. They go light on the sauce, but generous on the toppings. Instead of shredded cheese they use square slices, which offers an interesting and satisfying texture. A large pizza with one topping runs about $16; well worth it. Leftovers never remain in the fridge for long. A note that their house merlot ($5) always hits the spot. Pours have never been bad, either. Worth a splurge! Sure, the interior may need updated; but it's all part of its charm. Takeout is incredibly popular; consider this option.

Where to start with what is good here....Hmmm...now I may be a little bit bias as I have eaten here since 1982. And it is still as good as it was back then! Same great service, same great friendly people and same great food! We always order a pizza to take home too!

Always great and always busy. The pizza is awesome and many of the entrees are outstanding too. Some of the best king crab legs around.

Great pizza! Been going here my entire life and it's never let me down. If you love cheese on your pizza, this is the place for you! They definitely do not skimp on the toppings, everything is fresh and made to order. The house special is my go to pizza with Canadian bacon and green olives in second. Try it, you won't be sorry.

Incredibly good food. Prime rib on Friday/Saturday nights is AWESOME! The waiters/waitresses are friendly, fast and appreciate your business. My wife and I pass by 14 restaurants to go to Pizza King. Only one tip: If the parking lot is full, don't drive by, STOP and park... it is a huge place and always has short waits. Might be good for PK to put a neon sign out front that says "Immediate Seating Available"

You can always rely on consistent quality and experience at PK. Wait times on the pizza can be pretty long on the weekends but its worth it.

My wife, me, and her family went to Pizza King a couple weeks ago for Mother's Day and it was a disaster. I'll start with that time our reservation was for, 6pm. We all got seated at 6pm and the waiter took our drink orders and gave them to us about 5 minutes later. At 6:30, he finally came back to the table to take our order. Our order didn't come until an hour after that, at 7:30. Completely ridiculous. I understand that it was busy but still. And one of the orders was wrong so he took it back and didn't give the correct order until 30 minutes after that. The person with that order didn't eat until 8pm! I got the chicken salad, which was pretty good. Their house italian dressing was good too. My wife got the gyro and she enjoyed it. The food was okay, but I still can't get over the wait times. For this reason, I don't know if I'll ever go back.

I've been here a handful of times, as it is a staple family-run restaurant in Council Bluffs. Since it is close to my home, I drive by and they are constantly busy, the parking lot being full. For the times i've come here, we've always gotten adequate service, good food, and an overall decent experience. We came here for Mother's Day. I knew Mother's Day would be a catastrophe no matter where we went, so i made sure to reserve a table. Making the reservation was weird, as they only took down my name and not the number of people we had in our party. We ended up having 8 people. Food order took almost and hour and half to take. When it came, most of it was wrong and had to be sent back. I don't think they managed this holiday well. They overeat the servers multiple times with large parties. I was getting overwhelmed just watching them struggle to keep up while maneuvering through the chaos of the tables and chairs.

Pizza was fire!! Service was amazing and the good came faster than expected. The environment and lighting are perfect for eating tasty slices. We had the margherita pizza and it was so good we had to save a couple late nite cuts of course. How does the King do it so good? This place is a forever favorite and a breath of fresh air in a sea of shitty Italian restaurants and crappy chain pizza joints. I praise this place with many blessings for it has brought me and my loved ones supreme joy.

Pizza King is great. I really think you can't go wrong with any food items on the menu. Service is always great and you can expect to be treated the same every time you are there. One of the best restaurants in council bluffs. I always find myself carving their pizza at least once a month.

My husband and I just moved to Denver from Council Bluffs and one place I'll miss is Pizza King! It has been so hard to find local Italian joints in Denver. It makes me appreciate what I had in the Pizza King. It was one of the staples of my childhood, from school dance dinners, to family night out, and graduation parties. Pizza King never disappoints! Although it's called "Pizza King", pizza is not my favorite thing on their menu. I don't care for the thin crust (which is why I'm giving it a 4 star rating). However, the chicken parmesan is worth coming back for time and time again. Lightly breaded and covered in mozzarella and marinara, it is one of the best chicken parmesans I've ever had. It also comes with a salad, bowl of pasta, and a potato. You'll leave feeling satisfied. I always have to take home leftovers. I've also tried their steaks which are always well-prepared. My dad gets the fried chicken and loves it. We also usually get an appetizer. Although I'm not a huge fan of their cheesy garlic bread, I do love their fried mushrooms and mozzarella sticks. Besides their delicious food, Pizza King always has amazing service. The waiters know how to handle a large party. They are friendly, quick and seem to enjoy the restaurant they work for. As I've gotten older, I've also come to appreciate their full service bar. Overall, it's a wonderful local joint with delicious food, great service and lots of memories. I cannot wait for my next visit home. I will be checking out the Pizza King!

Pizza King is one of the best old established places around. The food never disappoints. If you have issues with the service all you have to do is say so, it WILL be handled. They take this business seriously. No giggling bobble headed kids goofing around instead of taking care of cusomers. (I eat at a local business where 'fun' is the goal for the day, customers come secondary, feh!) Food is consistently good, hot, and plentiful. The pizza is the best, closest to homemade you will find anywhere. I've lived in this area for many years, this business just keeps on delivering.

So I broke my vow to take a break from my search for good eats in Council Bluffs...and I was not disappointed. Old style family banquet with red leather booths. Loved the thin crust pizza. Relaxing after hard work day. Good service. I want to come back to try the Margherite and the garlic with cheese (no red sauce) pizzas.

I read all the excellent reviews for Pizza King, but I have to say they were seriously over rated. We had Garlic Bread and a large Pizza. The garlic bread was terrible. It tasted microwaved. I know it wasn't, at least I hope it wasn't, but the cheese was stuck to the tin foil it was on. It just was really bad. The pizza took 45 minutes. Apparently the pizzas were backed up tonight. That is something she could have told us when ordering, it might have changed our minds. The pizza seems to be baked in a coal oven. It is thin and cracker like. If you like that, it might work. The pizza taste wasn't really worth writing home about. I won't be getting the pizza again, but perhaps it was a bad night, so I would be willing to try something else.

I've known about Pizza King for years. However, I've never been there before last night. A friend and I went biking on the Wabash Trail and we decided that we needed to have some fattening food to offset our healthy ride. I remembered that Pizza King was in CB and decided we should go. This place is HUGE! It reminded me of a steakhouse from the old days. The interior is circa-1985. We were greeted and seated right away. I felt kind of bad. I felt like i was under dressed. We just got done biking and we were wearing shorts. I was really expecting a pizza joint.. We ordered calamari- It wasn't anything notable. Just the typical frozen calamari rings. The marinara sauce that came with it was pretty good. We also ordered the house special pizza. It was pretty good and they didn't skimp on the toppings. Between the 2 of us, we ordered a large and we had enough left overs for for each of us to take a fair portion home. The variety on the menu went from pizza, to steak and lobster. I was surprised with the prices. This place is very inexpensive. Our total bill for an appetizer, 2 salads, and a large pizza came out to be about 30 bucks. If you are in the CB area, i highly suggest going here.

Pizza King is great. Their pizza is really delicious. It is a casual dining atmosphere. Right at the corner of a good, busy intersection. The pizza still is delicious as it has been. If you are going on a weekend, please be prepared to wait. Starting around 5-8ish the parking lot is going to be crowded. Its okay, as their parking lot is shared with a grocery store. There is pleanty of parking on site. Their pricing isn't that expensive. You will not find food, or an atmosphere like this anymore.

My husband and I went here on a Saturday night to celebrate my birthday. We walked in at 6:45, even though the parking lot was full we were told it would be a 10-minute wait and it was. Seating was available in the bar, which was dark and cozy, hostess said full menu was available in the bar, but I wanted to see the rest of the restaurant. Which turned out to be disappointing because it's just basically one big, long room with no partitions or divisions. My husband had steak and shrimp, I had fried shrimp. Our food was good, but the green beans were out of a can and not hot. My husband's steak was overcooked and overseasoned. Waitress never came back to ask how his steak was. Fried shrimp was pretty good, I got five. Salad was pretty basic, ranch dressing was really good. Waitress never asked if we wanted dessert, just assumed we were done and brought the check. Whatever, I was full. Not the best steakhouse I've ever been to, but I would definitely go back and probably try the pizza and not be afraid to spend some cozy time in the lounge with my hubby.

We had a family birthday dinner last weekend, so I made a joke that we could eat over in CB somewhere then my brother-in-law and I could head south to the local BYOB establishment. Next thing I know it's been decided we're going to Pizza King. I cursed this decision (standard Omaha anti-CB bias), but when we walked in I was pleasantly surprised. Looks like a nice old school steakhouse. After a 30 minute wait (we arrived Saturday night at 7 PM) our party of 7 gets a table. Looking around and listening to the other patrons, there is a large variety of the menu being ordered. Everyone at our table ordered steaks, shrimp, pasta or chicken fried steak. The thing I just couldn't get over was the table of 6 fellas who looked like they just got done working on a basement, or working in a warehouse or something along those lines, and every single one of them ordered a pizza. I thought, if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me, so I ordered up Danny's special. We started with Onion rings, which were good, although I don't know if they were homemade or not. The onions were too soft to have been fresh cut/breaded but they still tasted pretty good. Next on to the salad, where i got the bleu cheese "half and half," or half cream, half crumbles. The lettuce was typical midwest iceberg, but the dressing/crumbles were top notch. Next onto the pizza. Off the top of my head, I can remember that my pie had pepperoni, canadian bacon, onions, mushrooms, sausage and cream cheese. I think it may have had extra mozzerella as well as it was one cheesy pizza. Crispy thin crust and great toppings made this one a winner. I'd definitely get it again, and I didn't even eat half of the small. It was a great deal for approx $10.00. I also tried a little of my wife's steak and shrimp, the steak was a nice sirloin, cooked exactly as she likes, (right between medium rare and medium) and the shrimp were tasty, typical steakhouse fried shrimp. Everyone else really enjoyed their meals, so I'd give the ol' Pizza King 5 stars for very good food, a nice variety and reasonable prices. I plan on going back in the future for sure. Give it a try.

Since my first review on Yelp was of Pizza King, I wanted my 100th to be an update. Well it didn't work out that way but close enough. We went on a Saturday evening about 6:00 and they still knock it clean outta the park in every way! Moderately crowded when we arrived and we found immediate seating in the bar area (my choice usually). We each ordered a small pizza and a pitcher of beer. Beer arrived immediately, frosty glasses and ice cold. On a nice fall evening the "King" filled up quickly but service never faltered. The owners (Danny and Pete) were constantly circulating keeping tabs on this busy night. Pizzas arrived timely, hot and still the best I've had anywhere in the United States! With so many "old standard" restaurants losing focus and falling by the wayside it is refreshing indeed to see this Steakhouse/Pizza Restaurant hitting on all cylinders as always. If you have never been here you owe it to yourself to check it out! Pizza King still gets my vote as the best dining experience in the Omaha/Council Bluffs metro regardless if you get a stellar thin crust pizza or a Filet you won't be disappointed!

My wife and I went on a very cold December Friday. We were early which is a good thing as the placed filled up fast right after we sat down. Based on our servers suggestion we ordered a Margarita pizza and Wow! I think there was more cheese than crust. :) The service was a little slow, but I think it was because of the crowd. The best part was the left-over pizza. It was even better the next day! We are looking forward to trying a different dish there in the very near future.

Had the chicken fried steak it was very bland. Our service was good when he would come around. We waited for 10 mins for a to go item we ordered when we ordered the rest of our food. Was kind of disappointed with this trip there, usually it's very good.

On an overnight business trip, I always like to check out local restaurants as opposed to eating at chains. Through some searches on my Yelp app I found this place and it had stellar reviews. Everyone seems to be raving about the pizza and other food offerings. Sounds like a winner. I arrived around 5pm, which I guess is a little early maybe? But I was a little confused as soon as I walked through the door. Was I in a pizza restaurant, or the dining hall of a really nice retirement home? At 5pm, there were nothing but older folks eating in there. OK, it was maybe a tad early for the dinner rush yet, and older folks generally like to eat their meals early, but once I was seated I couldn't stop focusing on the decor of this place. I still had to keep asking myself, "I am in a pizza restaurant, right? A place called "Pizza King"? When I hear of a restaurant called Pizza King, I think of a place that is not so stuffy, not so prim and proper, no chandeliers, no waiters in ties. In fact, I was immediately uncomfortable. This was not what I was expecting, not from a place called Pizza King. I continued throughout the meal to be puzzled also by the wait staff wearing ties, yet the buss boys coming out in jeans, looking like slop....every single one of them desperately needing a haircut. The food: It was pretty decent. Good fried mushrooms. Decent pizza, but nothing that was spectacular. I won't fault them on food, it was good. But overall, this restaurant has a major identity crisis, so much to the point it made me pretty uncomfortable eating my meal. This place most definitely needs a restaurant makeover reality type show to step in and help! Maybe if this restaurant had been called something else....and it was known for just overall good food, that happened to include good pizza, I would have felt better about the experience. But you can't....you just CAN'T call yourself Pizza King, and be known for your pizzas, and yet have the atmosphere that this place had. It seems like this restaurant is a beloved institution in this town, and that's cool, I can respect that. It just didn't do it for me, not being a visitor. A good restaurant in my opinion has to have the whole package....a good atmosphere, and good food. This place achieved one of those requirements, but failed completely on the other in my opinion. Overall for me, not a great experience.

A couple of observations right off the bat: Nothing says "old school" quite as emphatically as vinyl tablecloths. Also, based on our walkththrough to the table in back, I'm guessing most people in Council Bluffs say Pizza King without even thinking of pizza. The place was about full on a Labor Day Sunday night, and I don't think I saw anyone eating pizza. This place is NOT to be confused with Pizza Hut in any way. Much closer to fine dining. We came in shorts and felt just slightly underdressed beneath the chandeliers. One more thing really stood out: I've never seen a server bring stuff faster - drinks, salads, whatever she could make happen fast, she made it happen. Either she's some kind of magician, or PK is a very well-greased machine. We had a large pepperoni pizza and a couple of salads. The pizza was very thin, crispy crust and lots of mozzarella cheese, cut in squares just like back home in St. Louie. We also got a couple of dinner salads. All the food was very good. A little on the pricey side, which I attribute to longevity and customer loyalty (i.e. they charge more because they can). This isn't the kind of restaurant a lot of out-of-towners will stumble onto, since it's a few miles off the highway and past downtown, but I do suggest you look it up. If you're a local, you've already been, right? Good stuff.

Pizza King is great. I really think you can't go wrong with any food items on the menu. Service is always great and you can expect to be treated the same every time you are there. One of the best restaurants in council bluffs. I always find myself carving their pizza at least once a month.

What can ya say...a true council bluffs treasure..Pete and Danny do it up right...right food, right atmosphere , and right price...I love their "greek nights" BY FAR the best food for the money from good ole' C.B. to 72nd street in Omaha...always fresh always good ...and GREAT waitstaff...also a great place for the kids to go for Homecoming , Prom , or Winter formal...SAFE...and secure..THE BEST IN OUR TOWN !!
