Finally, coffee made right in the Iowa City area! When I first moved to Iowa City, the lack of (good) local coffee roasters left me nervous that I wouldn't find well-brewed coffee either. But, the Waterstreet Coffee Bar does an awesome job of connecting with excellent, small-batch coffee roasters and has really mastered the atmosphere. The only thing that would make this place better is if they start roasting their own beans, because with the amount of attention they're paying to the brew process, I'm certain they'd dedicate just as much attention to the roasting process and would finally give Iowa City a claim to fame on the coffee map.

I moved to the Iowa River Landing recently and decided to check out Waterstreet Coffee Bar. The reviews were great on Yelp and I had high expectations walking in mid morning on a Saturday. I told the barista I had never been there before and asked what he recommended. After asking me what I liked (lattes, not super sweet), he recommended the maple latte with half the flavor. It was delicious and just what I was looking for. You could tell it was a high quality product. I'll be back again for a great product and quality service. It was also a great place to get some work done. The wifi was reliable and the ambiance was comfortable. Perfect for getting a few hours of work done.

Great little cafe! The coffee wizards behind the bar made me a great Gibraltar even though it isn't on their menu, and were happy to chat with me about what else there was to check out locally. Prices were fair and service exceptional. I'd be back if I lived nearby!

While I'm excited to have a shop that does good things in the area, including serving some libations with my coffee, they still have to win me over for one reason - it takes way to long to get your drink. Perhaps my opinion will change in the future given the accolades others give. We came in on a Saturday AM (and before you stomp in disgust and retort about the day, hear me out) when there were maybe 8 other folks in the place and two waiting on their orders. A few standard brews, a kids hot chocolate and a tea were ordered and it took 25 minutes to get. I'm all for fresh ground and making it while I watch, but it took it to a new level and for reasons I really couldn't understand. My better half ended up leaving with the kids because it took so long. The baristas were very nice, the digs were solid and produced a very relaxed vibe. The coffee was good not great, but it's the sort of place I'd go to study or just to hang out. I'm sure we'll be back as the expanding options in this area are producing a lovely little downtowny type ambiance on the street. They're doing a lot of good things here and our experience may have been an aberration.

This place continues to be the best coffee shop in the Iowa City/Coralville area. For three reasons. 1. Customer service is top notch. You'll never meet friendlier baristas who enjoy interacting with their customers, and who legitimately care about how the coffee they're making turns out. 2. The food. They've expanded their menu beyond the already excellent deviled eggs, and now serve breakfast sandwiches. In my humble opinion, the vegetarian breakfast sandwich (with Milton Creamery Prairie Breeze cheddar, egg, avocado, and apricot preserves) is the best breakfast sandwich you'll find anywhere in Iowa City. For the flavor, and the price ($5), it's hard to beat! It also serves as useful template for other Iowa City area restaurants that charge over twice as much for sandwiches that taste half as good. 3. Improving coffee culture in Iowa City. This is what makes Waterstreet unique among its peers. They have been rotating through different coffee roasters, to complement their offerings from Kickapoo. The list is pretty amazing: this includes Heart from Portland, Dogwood from Minneapolis, Counter Culture from Durham. Plus, they also get up-and-coming roasters like Halfwit from Chicago, Huckleberry from Denver, Onyx from Arkansas. The continual change in guest roasters keeps things fresh, and gives Iowa City coffee folks a chance to sample beans from all around the country. Whichever beans you choose, opt for the Chemex, as this is the only place in town you can do so. Add to that their latte art throw downs which unite baristas and coffee enthusiasts from around the area, and Waterstreet is consciously elevating the coffee culture in IC.

This is the best coffee shop in the Iowa City/Coralville area. They have pretty good coffee, plus they have some interesting technology like the Chemex. Their food is quite good and remarkably reasonably priced. Throw in free parking, a nice modern atmosphere made less cold by some simple use of old wood, and a very friendly and helpful staff. They do the Blend Card if you're into the loyalty program thing.

Iowa River Landing hang out that features great coffee, lattes, caps, mocha, wine and more! Free wi-fi and a cool, urban decor makes Waterstreet a great spot to grab a drink before browsing the shops. The staff is great and the patrons are a little bit Iowa City and Rock N Roll.

BEST COFFEE IN IOWA. And we drove through all of Iowa drinking coffee from Illinois to Nebraska and back through to Wisconsin. Didn't need to add sugar, the coffee and milk were perfect! If you go in the morning get the Breakfast Sandwiches! Great service, nice atmosphere lots of wood, wifi, great place!

Great coffee. Great wine. Great beer. Great people. Great atmosphere. A must stop for a unique coffee shop experience if you are in the area!!

They don't serve "regular" coffee, just pour-overs (and espresso etc). So when we stopped in for two coffees after dinner to help sustain the hour drive the rest of the way to my cousin's, we didn't realize we'd be waiting for 15 minutes. For 2 black coffees to go. The only warning I got that it would take long was when she told me "there are two orders in front of you." Two girls working, apparently that was as fast as they could operate. She was actually polite, and the coffee was good. But the time it took has left me annoyed.

Great coffee and nice atmosphere! They had a nice selection of coffees and our group picked 4 different varieties. They were all well-prepared and tasted great. Didn't get any of the small plates, but they looked really interesting. If we're in the area again, I'm sure we'd be back. Great service as well!

Nice atmosphere, not very comfortable if you're looking for a study spot. Was really disappointed by my espresso shot. It was very sour.

Really great latte! Quiet atmosphere and relaxed place to enjoy a good cup of espresso. Next to an awesome cupcake place (not affiliate). Clearly a part of Coralville they're trying to build up. I will definitely be making a regular visit on my way through Iowa City area.

Found this place on Google Maps while driving through on my way to Illinois with my wife. It was great luck! We both had pour-overs that were delicious and cost not much more than the really average coffee at, say, Starbucks. We liked it so much that we stopped in on our return trip. In addition to the great coffee, the staff was super friendly and helpful. If I lived in or near Coralville, I'd be giving them a lot more of my money.

I've been wanting to try Waterstreet since I read the article in the Press Citizen. Today, I finally made the effort. I ordered an espresso, which was delicious, and drank it while reading a book. It was very quiet for a Sunday morning, which I thought was both awesome and a shame. The peacefulness made my reading more enjoyable, but I feel more people should be frequenting this coffee bar.

simple clean atmosphere, great staff and very decent prices. most importantly the coffee is amazing. i myself am not articulate enough to describe the virtues and subtleties of the various brews and drinks offered. nor do i know all the crucial steps that go into a good americano/latte etc. but i did go to this coffee shop with those that do know these things and they were all as impressed with the coffee as i was. therefore i give it five stars from a simple black coffee/americano drinker such as mine and five stars from more sophisticated developed palettes such as those who accompanied me. IE - drink thier coffee, its good

Had to stop by as we are new to town and looking for a place to make regular. Staff was great (no condescending baristas here!) They were helpful to folks that had "brewing questions". Great atmosphere. Free wifi. And fantastic coffee. Recipe for a great morning.
