Stopped in the Thursday night before FryFest. Fairly busy at 6:30, was given an estimate of 45 minutes for a table. Luckily we found three spots at the bar so we passed on the table. Atmosphere is vibrant and modern. They have a rooftop patio which we didn't go up to but looks pretty cool. They have a couple of big TVs on the wall and a few more on the patio but overall this isn't really a sports bar type place. Menu was still semi limited. There were a couple of portions of the menu that said "coming soon". What they did have were apps, some small plates, and burgers. I opted for the "chee burger" which was a burger topped with havarti cheese and kimchee. I was pretty impressed by it. Great flavor on the burger and was cooked perfectly medium as requested. The kicker was my father, who is not adventurous at all and is a very meat and potatoes type of guy. He ordered the short ribs expecting a plate of bbq ribs but instead he got short ribs braised in a dark sauce on top of some mashed potatoes and other things. The look on his face when it came out was priceless and I could tell what he got in front of him was not what he was expecting. He did give it a try though and after he left he made a comment to us that it was actually extremely good. So a place like 30hop is expected to have some beers on tap. They have 60 beers on tap and only three of them are dedicated to the bud/miller/coors beers. The other 57 are dedicated to local and regional craft brews. They have a wide selection and the chalkboard above the bar looks like it gets updated a lot. Very impressed with 30hop and will be visiting again in the future. Great new addition for craft beer enthusiasts in the Iowa City area.

Great beer selection! All listed on chalk board.....Great food and 5 minute walk from Marriot! Loved the fish tacos, salsa was sweet with slight heat, very fresh.

I've been there only once and will NEVER give them another chance! They were not familiary with dietary needs, especially celiac - and what that entails, and the waitress could not tell me what was available for me. Finally the manager came over and in a snotty way told me the only thing I could eat on their menu was a salad - and that was not guaranteed to be prepared in a kitchen without flour!

Went with a group of seven in the middle of the day before an Iowa basketball game. It wasnt very crowded, but that was not unexpected at 2:30 in the afternoon. I had three or four beers and the fancy smancy mac 'n cheese (not really called that). It tasted great and it wasn't the beer talking! Their happy hour specials on drinks were impressive as well. Great beer selection with some awesome food. Cheers!

The chicken satay came out cold and dry from sitting under a heat lamp and the $17 fish and chips where brunt to a crisp with stale chips. Even the truffle fries could use a makeover. The only saving grace was a good server and descent beer selection. Wouldn't go back for the food.

One of the best restaurant and bar atmosphere in Iowa, they do stand out as on of the premiere places to go.They have a great downstairs bar and several tables that can hold their high amount of business they have, the highlight is their rooftop that is very beautiful! There isn't many places that have a lot of effort in their look in Iowa, great job on the design. As for the food the burger was average to me. They are pretty price so I expected a little more out of it but wasn't the case for me. The fries were excellent, did a great job with making them stand out. The chicken and brie sandwich was excellent, very good job on this sandwich that had a lot of flavor to it. The chicken satay appetizer was good, but the peanut sauce wasn't the best choice for this, I would have liked another option for this. But they do need to get some hot sauce that isn't siracha or tabisco!!! Really wanted to add it to my sandwich. Overall this is a fun place to go, you really feel the excitement that this place brings. I will continue to try new items here.

I was in Iowa City for a girls' weekend and got to check out 30hop. What a great space! They have a great beer selection, as you'd hope given that's their thing. We sat outside to eat. We shared the calamari which was a good twist on this usual app. I had the barbecue chicken salad which was really tasty. And we shared the corn side. I could have eaten a huge bowl of the corn as my meal--it was that good! After dinner we went up to the rooftop. The rooftop is awesome. The whole place has a great vibe and is well decorated. If I lived closer I'd be here all the time!

Place was great! Thank you Yelp-ies. I had short ribs and colleague had the bacon cheddar burger. Great food, a bunch of beer choices. I say a can't miss!

Visited for lunch while staying at the Marriott. My daughter had a chicken sandwich that was ok. Fries were just ok. I ordered the pea and ham soup and it was awful. Not sure what the deal was but it was frothy and tasteless and there was no ham in the soup, just a few cold diced up pieces on top. Worst soup I ever had. Waitress had no interest in refunding my $. I hardly touched it and it was a big bowl.

This place has a really laid back fun vibe. The staff is super nice and efficient. I regret not getting the Naanchos but now I have an excuse to go back. My boyfriend ordered the fish tacos and I ordered the bulogi beef. The fish tacos were good. I would prefer a little more spice but the fish was nice and crispy. The bulogi beef was really good. It was impossible to eat as a sandwich but that's okay I know how to use utensils. I subbed a side salad so I could pretend I am a healthy eater. It was a really good side salad. I am not sure what was in the dressing maybe some oregano? Anyway, it went well with the greens and tomatoes. I will definitely go back there. Hopefully, during happy hour again. Half priced pints of beer happen to be one of my favorite things.

Food is hit or miss. We tried out a bunch of things, but rating each, I would say 2-4 stars on average. Its a nice atmosphere, good drinks, good beer, but just wasn't overwhelmed by the food. Needless to say if this was more of a bar establishment and I went solely for the booze, 4/5 stars.

This place is getting three stars because the beer selection is fantastic. It is definitely the best one in Iowa City and honestly, probably better than a lot of places in the Cities. My husband and I came over Thanksgiving weekend after he heard that they had tapped Goose Island Bourbon County. He was thrilled with the tap selection. I ended up having a couple rail drinks which were $4 a pop, so no complaints there. The upstairs patio looks absolutely beautiful and we will have to make it down in the summer to sit up there. I can see that being a huge draw to the place? The reason I am taking off two stars is because of the food. I don't mind paying $11-$14 for a sandwich entree if it's worth the money, however, these were not worth the money. My chicken brie sandwich was an absolute salt bomb. Initially I thought it was too salty because there was SO much mayo and mustard on the sandwich (and the bread was soggy, too. Ugh). However, even after taking the chicken off the bread, it was still salty, so it was clearly a seasoning issue in addition to having way too many condiments. The fries were good, though. My husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich and he commented, as well, on too many condiments on the sandwich. The bread was soggy and the sandwich totally fell apart. Also, the pulled pork sandwich was advertised as coming mixed with peaches but it came with apples instead. Granted, it was still fruit, but it had a totally different flavor profile than he was expecting. We'll come to 30Hop when we're back in IC visiting family, however, we will definitely not be hitting it up for the food.

This place is trendier than it is tasty. Pear salad was salty. Pork chop had no flavor & was helped significantly by some A1. Pork chops should never need A1. Just need to source their meat better? Also cooked strange - why was it sliced down the middle - almost butterfly style. Strange technique and didn't do much for the dish - actually resulted in part of it undercooked and part overcooked & dry. Guess I shoulda got a burger. The server & service was really good though!

Second time in...first time fish and chips was great! Tonight a little lighter had chicken satay...six nice little skewers done perfectly with a tasty peanut sauce. Great beer selection. Good service! Will make this a regular on my trips the Iowa City!

I loved their 50/50 Burger, best I've ever had. There was actually a lot of flavor to it. Loved the beer selection, 60 beers on tap, a rooftop bar available for the spring time and it's such a pretty area! They did a great job with the place.

I was not impressed with the food at this restaurant. I had the salmon and I had a couple of tablespoons of rice that came with this dish. Rather bland tasting. No vegetable accompaniment either. They were out if their carrot cake that they rave about and I know this place is known for it's beers, but give us some wine choices please! They were out of their only chardonnay.

Nice restaurant. Trendy, young atmosphere. Food is very unique for a town in Iowa. Their burgers and appetizers are great, but be sure to try out their chocolate cake!

The selection of beer is great, the food has a lot to be desired. I ordered a salmon kale Caesar salad and it was a joke. There were about 5 pieces of kale and the rest was hearts of romaine. As for the salmon, they flaked maybe a quarter of a salmon filet on the salad. I wish it would have at least tasted good. Unfortunate. Don't waste your money on a salad.

Nice trendy restaurant in upcoming part of town. Beer selection is decent with size options if you don't want to fill up on one beer. Came here for dinner after a football game, no wait, score! Ordered calamari as an appetizer, it was calamari steaks sliced, breaded and doused I'm a sweet chili sauce. Presentation was nice, would have tasted better had there not been so much sauce. For dinner I ordered the bulgogi burger. Being a lover of Korean food, I was quite disappointed. It came on a roll and there was more bread than anything. As with the calamari it had a good flavor, but way too much sauce. The meat was a little fatty and extremely salty. Lastly, it came with kimchi, but it was cooked down so much it lost the crunch and flavor of kimchi. I would like to point out that I did finish my "burger". My beau ordered the Lamb burger which he was was very dry. Service was on point, no complaints there. If I make it back through Iowa City again 30hop will be on the list to stop for a beer.

Love this place! Very trendy with a nice atmosphere! We had the truffle fries, wings, and crab cakes!! All very good and highly recommended! We had a few cocktails but I cannot remember which ones. But they were all good!! :) great addition to the Coralville area!

3 stars only because of the beer selection, food is extremely marginal to poor (1/2 a star), some of the worst in Iowa City/Coralville. If your in the mood for beer, 30hop is your place, just plan on eating somewhere else.

All I heard was great things about this place. The best I can say is, "french fries and toe pull bathroom." All three of us had the worse meals ever to the point we almost said something to the waiter or threw up but, alas, I wait to post the slightly passive post on Yelp.

Good food, service was fine, great view of the Cards putting the Dodgers away!!! Had the chicken burger and the strawberry rhubarb for desert. Both were good. The person I was with said it was pretty impressive food for a bar type place. I'd go again.

Great menu, great service. We have been 4 times since they opened and it gets better every time. We have ordered the house greens, truffle fries, veggie noodles, short ribs, one of the burgers, the chicken sandwich and all has been delicious. Great selection of drinks as well. We will continue to go back.

Worst possible menu, worst execution, I doubt they will be open three months from now. We spent $60 on good that we left on the table because we couldn't even eat it. Wanted to get out of there so bad we didn't even ask for the manager.

After all of the great banter I heard about 30Hop, I was delighted when a friend suggesting going there for a late dinner after a movie. With my expectations high, I was impressed with that restaurants aesthetic appeal upon entering. Very sleek and modern, and not at all what I have come to expect in Iowa. We were seated, and though a little drafty by the windows in the winter time, the vibe in the restaurant spoke loudly of an urban venue that was place to come together with friends and indulge is classy and original takes of bar food. I was impressed with the menu, and the vast specialty cocktail and beer selection. The name of the cocktail I ordered escapes me...but the combination of St Germaine's, Vodka, Cherry, and whatever other ingredients I am forgetting was tasty, and not to heavy on the alcohol content which was what I was going for. For dinner, I finally settled on the Lamb Burger and here is where my experience turned. Our inattentive waitress, Ryann, proceeded to tell me that "because they grind their own meat, they can only cook the lamb burger medium rare or well done". Of course I was bewildered because that statement is nonsensical. I tried to explain to her that grinding meat should have nothing to do with how long meat is cooked to achieve my medium to medium well desired level of cooking. She insisted that the in house grinding of the meat was the reason for her stance but said "ok, I'll see what they can do" and about 20 min later appeared with a VERY well done lamb burger. While the toppings saved the burger from being too dry, I was obviously disappointed that she didn't think it appropriate to come back and confirm that I would be getting a VERY well done burger or see if wanted to order something else. My food also came out with sweet potato fries that were lukewarm at best, though a fresh order was quickly brought out to replace those. In a nutshell, perhaps it was a long day with an Iowa football game earlier in the afternoon. Perhaps Ryann is still training and just regurgitating what she heard someone else say. In any event, I would love to see a better level of customer service at 30Hop. The menu is phenomenal. Flavor combinations are excellent and the price points are good considering the quality and thought that has gone into the food. But for me, nothing replaces great service. I think I'll give it another try, and hope for more soft skills to accompany the culinary techniques. BTW: Be sure to check out the bar/ patio lounge area upstairs. Though no food is served there, you can keep warm with a cocktail and by grabbing a place near a fire pit of heat lamp.
I've been coming here for drinks the past few months and the bartenders are awesome. However, it was my dining experience tonight that made me want to review them. I ordered the 30hop burger, medium. When it came out it was PERFECT. Finally, an Iowa City/Coralville restaurant that can actually cook. Every other restaurant in town has cooked my burger into something that resembles a hockey puck. 30hop knocked it out of the park. If you don't eat and drink here, you're wrong.

Been here several times now and continue to be impressed each time. Waitress and bartenders and knowledgeable of the beers being served and they have a great menu. Location is fantastic and the build out on the place is really appealing. Met a couple of the owners who seem very engaged and making sure the business runs the right way. Really top notch all around, similar to many places I have been in much, much larger cities.

Was not pleased with the food nor the drinks. I ordered an Old Fashion (a drink on their short cocktail list) and it wasn't even filled past three quarters of the way. I also ordered the sweet potato fries which seemed like they were waiting for me under the lamp for hours. The only good thing about this place is the extensive beer list. Other than that there is no reason to come out this way.

Stayed at coralville marriott, was within walking distance-200 yards.. Great atmosphere and outdoor area.. Had the crispy salmon which was very good. Was not in the mood for beer (which they have a huge selection of) so opted for wine.. They literally only had 7 wine options to choose from.. Kind of disappointing.. Overall great place besides wine selection

Awesome burgers, friendly staff, and great atmosphere- not too mention a huge selection of beer. They don't take reservations but you can call ahead and get your name on the list, so it was pretty easy to get a table. Overall a great experience, can't wait to come back and try all the other burgers!

Finally went to 30 Hop with DH for lunch and we were very disappointed. The space is beautiful and even though it's very open with high ceilings, it's not clattery-loud, which was a pleasant surprise. Beer selection is excellent, as many have mentioned. However, the food was really disappointing. The sisig was okay--decent flavor, but pretty greasy, and the pork belly really wasn't any different than pork loin, none of that lovely unctuousness that say braised pork belly has. The Brussels sprouts weren't carmelized--they were burnt, as was the sausage in that dish as well. And though I'm a gal who loves vinegar, it was overpowering here. This dish also seemed very oily. The calamari was the biggest disappointment--the calamari was well-cooked and tender, but _drowned_ in the overly-spicy orange sauce. It could have been anything, you couldn't actually taste the calamari at all. It was a $45 lunch that left DH and I feeling slightly ill all afternoon. I'd be willing to give the burgers a try, but otherwise, we won't be back.

The good: They had Surly on tap before anyone else, and they have about 6 different ones on tap now! The atmosphere is nice, and I'm excited for a rooftop in the area. Good happy hour. The bad: The food is not great and the prices are worse. They try to be trendy but miss. The service is also bad. But you wouldn't be great at your job if you were getting paid what servers in Iowa get paid either. My boyfriends ex girlfriend was there one night when I was. I'm not rating you on this, because you didn't know...but it's still a bad. I did enjoy a Surly while pretending to not notice her...which made it better. I guess

There have been varying degrees of experiences here. When going during off-peak hours it is not difficult to get a table immediately. However, the times I have been during peak hours the wait is rather long. Calling ahead does not rectify this either. While you wait there is a nice area on the rooftop. The beer selection is rather excellent, with many local (Midwest) beers. The food is good, but a bit on the pricey side. The atmosphere is good and there is a West Coast feel to the place which seems to work even in Coralville, Iowa.

This is probably the 4th time I've been here and it was the best. Had the Lucky Peppers, amazing, Sweet frites, delicious, and the Sriracha Burger was so amazingly delicious, I can't say enough good things about it! Great beer, great atmosphere!

Great selection of beers, nice interior, service is good and the food is above average. Some of the dishes, like the miso black cod, fish and chips, salmon and short rib are excellent and fresh. The burgers, in my opinion, are average. Made from preformed patties with previously frozen fries, I wasn't too impressed. Overall, it was solid for the price and I would return, especially a nice option for dinner if staying at the Homewood Suites.

Went there twice while in town for business... Underwhelmed both times. Tried the bulgogi beef sandwich, great cut if beef but had an American tasting barbecue style sauce - a shame they didn't have a nice spicy / tangy Korean sauce. Second time I went I got a lamb burger which was as dry as pressed sawdust - two bites in I sent it back. Bartender recommended the 30hop burger and that was on point, really moist. Unfortunately when I got my bill I was charged for both burgers... I noticed this solely by realizing that my meal was way more than my colleague - who ordered the same amount of drink and food; they don't give you an itemized receipt unless you ask for one so you have no clue what you're being charged for unless you ask - bad/shady business. We also split some appetizers - the chicken satay has a great sauce and large pieces- I want to say generous except satay really works well with thin cut breast - not chunky chicken. The lucky peppers are fun for he first bite however you realize quickly how bland and boring they are. They could benefit by having more than one sauce or more seasoning. Lastly, the beer nuts are great - however these should be complimentary or ~$2, not the same price as other apps. The beer offering is awesome - great selections! I'd recommend that if you go to just grab 2 brews at the bar and then have a meal elsewhere.

I am not one to eat veggie burgers but theirs came highly recommended and was much better than expected. Busy atmosphere but good food overall. Definitely use the call ahead seating.
Nice looking place, and decent beer selection, but the food is pretty bad and overpriced. The only thing decent on the menu seems to be the shishito peppers. The tuna in the tuna avo salad was definitely seared at some earlier time, then refrigerated and robbed of any flavor other than pepper, then served on a bed of greens drenched in dressing. You get hints of good flavors, but it's obvious the kitchen is just trying to make it through the night with everything they serve. Coming here twice was once too many.

I heard they served a lamb burger and I was sold so we headed to this hot new spot to see if it was worth the hype. The menu was pretty limited and definitely had that big city vibe with lots of interesting additions to your entree. So the lamb burger came with arugula, mushrooms, caramelized onions, and goat cheese. As a customer, I have never had to justify my desire to withhold certain things from my entree but was informed that the chef did not like to modify the food. I've worked in various jobs that deal directly with the public and have learned that despite what people think, the customer is not always right BUT when the customer asked for a burger without something, in this case, a topping, it is just plain bizarre to refuse. Our waitress was nice and apologetic and seemed unsure how to tell us that the chef was incredibly anal about his precious creations. I would have accepted a simple "The chef is a jerk," but obviously I can't expect someone to be that honest when their job is on the line. She also seemed a bit intimidated by him. I have dealt with those types before and they are typically terrible human beings. So basically, I could not order the burger how I wanted and we decided to leave. I have never dealt with such an arrogant business that has this take it or leave it attitude but I decided to leave it and encourage others to as well. When I came home to look up how a business that is that clueless actually makes it through the "painting the walls" stage I learned that their rooftop patio doesn't even have handicap access. While something that size is not required to by law, I figured that the year 2014 and this hot new Coralville development would necessitate such a feature. Now, I may not be handicapped myself but I would never presume that it is OK to exclude someone from enjoying the benefits others do just because we wanted to save a few bucks. Then again, I would never presume that the way I prefer to eat my food is how everyone else should. If Chef Dick wants his menu to have a big city feel, get out of Iowa. People with such a pompous attitude don't belong here. Then again, I've spent a great deal of time in plenty of big cities and have never dealt with such an arrogance on this level.

I have now been to 30hop 3 separate times, 2 of which were during happy hour. They have great rotating beers on tap and all of the bartenders will give you some tastings to help you decide what to get. I personally loved their cocktails the first two times I went (the cherry blossom is not to be missed) but found that it is bartender dependent (some make it better than others!). Their food is not your standard bar fare and much better than Red's food! Their truffle fries are delicious with just the right amount of truffle oil and their wings have a great sauce! This place gets packed on Friday and Saturday nights but I have been lucky with timing and have never had to wait. We also came on a Sunday to watch the Giants game. The heat lamps and fire pits upstairs keep you warm enough to comfortably enjoy the game, but they only serve food downstairs so we transitioned at half time to eat. The staff is friendly, and many participate in fantasy football leagues to add some color to your game watching experience. I would suggest sticking with a beer or cocktail and their wine pours are on the smaller side! If its happy hour, definitely go with one of their specials as they usually have some great options to save you a few bucks!

Prairie, La Fin Du Monde, some of my Chicago faves, and local brews like Confluence...love this place for the great beer selection. All served in a trendy, soothing, modern space with a spacious bar and knowledgeable staff. 30hop has burgers. Hubby likes the siracha burger because he hates his taste buds and is always trying to kill them off. I, being a purist, am all about the beef and their regualr old burger highlights the good beef they use perfectly. Of course, the easy parking is pretty cool in a town like IC, where parking on the street can be a pain in the rump. The only thing I would ask from a place with such a great beer selection would be to beg them to carry Three Floyds because I sure miss the happiness their huge hoppiness brings.

This place was pretty solid right after it opened about a year ago, but now it's pretty inconsistent. Great beer selection and patio, though! The 30 Hop Burger, Calimari, street corn and sweet frites are always very good.
Fun place to casually drink with friends, especially during fall night on the rooftop with the fire pits. I've only had food once but it was not great. The chicken sandwich with lemon sauce had a weird, plastic taste to it. I would try the food again since the other dishes looked better but I'm not in a hurry.

Alright, The place is located in up and coming Iowa River Landing. They have plenty of seating, small menu for food and a large selection of beers, mostly local crafts. Sounds like a place to go for a nice dinner. Except they need some more experienced staff! When we arrived for dinner, we were asked to wait for 30-40 minutes. It was after only 5 minutes, they had our table ready as we had requested. It took them 5 minutes to take us to our table! The waiter was knowledgeable about the menu choices but a little confused about the specific ingredients. Appetizer (hummus) was tasteless at best. They could have warmed up Pita bread at least! Main dish was also okay, nothing special about the garden burger or mac and cheese. We didn't try their desert because it would have been another expensive dish that we could have had in any american food restaurant. Ambiance, location and seating is nice for a romantic evening or a family group but nothing special about the food here!

Not quite a 4 star, but above a 3.5 so I'll round up. Love the beer selection, and the rooftop deck. One thing I would like to see more of on the menu is local/Iowa beers. As of this review they have 10 beers from the state, which is better than when they first opened though. I do like that they rotate frequently, keeping the beer fresh and they don't get too heavy on a certain style for too long. Their food has mostly been pretty good. The chicken satay was tasty, but overcooked so it was dry and a little tough. The 50/50 burger was delicious. It's 50% bacon, how could it not be? It was cooked medium well though which was past what I requested, and I found the bun to be too sweet. Sriracha burger was probably my favorite of the burgers, but again cooked past what I ordered. Guess I should order mid-rare next time. The outdoor areas are great places to enjoy the late spring thru early fall Iowa weather.

Part of the new shops/restaurants in coralville near the marriot, they have a great beer list, over 60 beers, and organized by style of beer, i got the 50/50 burger which was really good, tho to be honest i felt they skimped on the fries, tho the waitress did give us a free bowl of potato wedges since they werent initially ready, cool atmosphere, id def go back

A consistent hang out in Iowa City located in a lovely part of Iowa River Landing. The food is consistently tasty and they have improved the menu to include more. The burger with blue cheese is indulgent. Lots of local brews on tap!

Give me some sunshine, beer, and 30 Hop's patio and I'm a happy gal! Service was friendly and didn't feel suffocating, happy hour prices were better than expected, beer selection was of course unbeatable, and those truffle fries?! oh. my. goodness. I especially appreciate how well organized the beer menu is considering the massive selection.

Iowa City's food scene has been lacking for me, maybe because I moved here from a very foodie-centric city, or maybe it's just that the Midwest is chain restaurant heaven. Either way, 30hop is the closest thing I've found to the restaurants I've been missing from Austin. Hip decor, an inventive menu, a great craft beer selection, and the area's first rooftop patio are what make this such a hot spot right now. I've had great service at both crowded lunch hours and busy weekend nights, and the food has been delicious each time. I'm a fan of the 30hop burger, which they make in house with three kinds of tender meat. Ask for the baconaise (mayo blended with bacon) on the side--a little goes a long way and the burger is already flavorful enough. The fries are really nice and crisp, but I'm eager to try the additional side items like the chorizo street corn. Parking is free and there are street spots, as well as a garage. (Or "ramp", as they call it here.) The restaurant is located in Iowa River Landing, so if you don't have room for the sweets selection and need a breather, there are plenty of places to shop or grab coffee and dessert within walking distance.

I've mostly enjoyed my visits to 30hop. It's a beautiful building, great beer selection and mostly decent food. In my experience 30hop's patrons seem to vary and thus the mood of the place seems to also vary from night-to-night. I've been there a few times where it seemed quiet and hip and other times it's seemed like a noisy sports bar. The rooftop patio is excellent and definitely worth stopping by 30hop for a beer.

Really like this place and as of now, it's the place to be in the area! We've been a half dozen times now for everything from a quick drink to dinner with friends and each time they get it right! The open concept with lots of different seating options really sets a nice mood. High ceilings, big windows and lodgey/rustic/farmy feel set the stage and with 60+ beers on tap, even the most pretentious of beer drinkiers will find something they like! The food here will not blow you away, but there are some gems. Our go to on the small plates menu has become the Brussels - totally the food that places are playing with right now and they get it right here. Excellent flavor with just enough meat! The firecracker wings are excellent as well. A lot of places are working on Asian inspired wings and these are a good rendition. The truffle fries were excellent as well. One item we're bummed about was the Sisig - it reminded us of a take on pork fried rice - it wasn't flavorful and had way to much heat that didn't do anything but burn. Heat for flavor or flavor with heat is solid, but this dish left something to be desired everywhere. We've tried most of the burgers here and they're always good, not great. The lamb is solid as is the Bulgogi beer sandwich. We've also had the crispy skin salmon - it too was good, not great - we're from the NW though so it's hard to impress us with Salmon. For dessert, we've had the Strawberry Rhubard Crumble and a couple types of ice cream. Everything is as expected and they haven't played with this menu much so it's good for what it's there for. Overall, 30 hop is great place to go with a group for some legit beers and a great atmosphere. The appetizer/small plates menus hold some great dishes and the burgers and main dishes are good, but won't be the best you've ever had. 30 hop is a great addition to the area and somewhere we'll be going on a pretty regular basis.

Love this place. BUT... Their website says the balcony opens at 11 on the weekends... Yet we are here at 1 and it's closed. Hmnnnnn... That's kinda why we came... Anyway, the beer selection is awesome and the food is tasty. Never had something I didn't like. Great addition to Coralville!

Just moved to the area and took a friend here - we loved it! The rooftop deck is awesome, along with the overall ambiance and outdoor seating. Beer selection was good and the food was super tasty. The 50/50 burger was delicious! I would definitely recommend it if you're in the area.

When I first heard about this place, I was fairly excited. In one of their earliest press releases, 30hop said that they wanted to bring a "big city" dining experience to Iowa City. That, plus 60+ beers on tap and a rooftop patio sounded pretty enticing to me. They've been open (on what I believe is still a soft open...?) for about a month, and last night I was finally able to check them out. This place has a ton of potential. The downstairs space is large, with comfortable booths and a nice bar that spans the length of the restaurant. They have a big chalkboard above the bar with all of their selections, which appear to be rotating constantly. First, and most important, the beer. They have an extensive beer list nicely organized into flavor characteristics (see the pic). They cover their bases style-wise--so this place appeals to more than just hop-heads--but I didn't notice anything particularly rare or difficult to find elsewhere. Not sure if that will change, but opting for a few rarer selections might draw in the beer nerd crowd. Highlights of my visit included Two Brothers Atom Smasher (Oktoberfest/Marzen), Surly Bitter Brewer (English bitter), and Jolly Pumpkin Oro de Calabaza (Belgian-inspired saison). Another nice feature of the menu is that they do multiple sizes of pours. The food menu was a bit smaller, focusing mainly on burgers. It's a shame they don't have a veggie burger option to pair with the interesting toppings for their hamburgers (such as kim chee). They do have a "veggie mash" sandwich, but from the waiter's description it sounded like mashed potatoes and veggies on a bun, which personally doesn't sound very appetizing. Last night, we started with the "lucky peppers"--shishito peppers with ponzu dipping sauce. Every one in ten is supposed to be spicy rather than sweet; sadly we didn't have that experience--we did have a few that were bitter, but none that were spicy. We also had the crab cakes (billed as a small plate), and although they were slightly dry, they did showcase crab meat as opposed to bready filling, always a nice touch. Customer service was excellent. Next time, we'll have to try the rooftop--they currently do not serve food on the roof, which is why we stayed downstairs. It would be nice if they had a tap list on their website, so that customers could know what to expect on the menu when they come in. But all in all, this is a nice addition to the Iowa City area!

I really wanted to like this place. I was so excited about it opening, so my less than stellar first experience was chalked up to it being new. However, I've been back a few times since then and the food just always seems to be lacking in flavor and execution. The ambiance is wonderful, so if you just want to grab a few beers and enjoy the outdoor seating, this is great for that. But I have yet to have a memorable dish here.

Loved this place. Great beer selection. Good music. Friendly servers. Upstairs balcony is great - fire pits were awesome.

4.5 stars! My waiter josh Buren was phenomenal I highly recommend him. I have not enjoyed myself this much at a restaurant in a while. Foods great, lots of beer, and a beautiful outdoor patio.

Finally the manager came over and in a snotty way told me the only thing I could eat on their menu was a salad - and that was not guaranteed to be prepared in a kitchen without flour!

amazing food. amazing service. our server didn't miss a beat. the decor is amazing. I got the 30 hop burger and fries. cooked to order. fresh taste and high quality ingredients . lots of space and a great menu. I will be sure to visit again can't wait to try other items...

Cheers!
(4)Jen P.
The chicken satay came out cold and dry from sitting under a heat lamp and the $17 fish and chips where brunt to a crisp with stale chips. Even the truffle fries could use a makeover. The only saving grace was a good server and descent beer selection. Wouldn't go back for the food.
(2)Mark G.

(5)Jay D.

(2)Jamie B.
(4)Lauren D.
(3)Jess B.

(3)Mike L.
Second time in...first time fish and chips was great! Tonight a little lighter had chicken satay...six nice little skewers done perfectly with a tasty peanut sauce. Great beer selection. Good service! Will make this a regular on my trips the Iowa City!
(4)Audrey S.
I loved their 50/50 Burger, best I've ever had. There was actually a lot of flavor to it. Loved the beer selection, 60 beers on tap, a rooftop bar available for the spring time and it's such a pretty area! They did a great job with the place.
(5)Jen O.
Incredible brunch, patio, beer and cocktails! A must for anyone in the area! Make sure to try the rooftop patio as well!!
(5)Angela D.
(2)J C.
Nice restaurant. Trendy, young atmosphere. Food is very unique for a town in Iowa. Their burgers and appetizers are great, but be sure to try out their chocolate cake!
(3)Vanessa A.
(1)Tammy H.
(3)Chels I.
Love this place! Very trendy with a nice atmosphere! We had the truffle fries, wings, and crab cakes!! All very good and highly recommended! We had a few cocktails but I cannot remember which ones. But they were all good!! :) great addition to the Coralville area!
(5)Hap P.
3 stars only because of the beer selection, food is extremely marginal to poor (1/2 a star), some of the worst in Iowa City/Coralville. If your in the mood for beer, 30hop is your place, just plan on eating somewhere else.
(3)Liz R.
Good beer selection and atmosphere but the food is not that great. I'll come back for drinks only next time.
(2)Paige P.
All I heard was great things about this place. The best I can say is, "french fries and toe pull bathroom." All three of us had the worse meals ever to the point we almost said something to the waiter or threw up but, alas, I wait to post the slightly passive post on Yelp.
(1)Nick G.
Good food, service was fine, great view of the Cards putting the Dodgers away!!! Had the chicken burger and the strawberry rhubarb for desert. Both were good. The person I was with said it was pretty impressive food for a bar type place. I'd go again.
(4)Jessica A.
Great menu, great service. We have been 4 times since they opened and it gets better every time. We have ordered the house greens, truffle fries, veggie noodles, short ribs, one of the burgers, the chicken sandwich and all has been delicious. Great selection of drinks as well. We will continue to go back.
(5)Trill B.
Terrible service and food. They give u a menu with no options. Not impressed. I don't know if I will be back. Nice indoor atmosphere
(1)Robynn S.

Stopped in while driving from Kansas to Chicago, figured we'd take a chance on something nicer than the usual hurried fast food while traveling. Nice ambience, fantastic beer selection - although since we had 3 hours yet to drive and in what we knew would be bad weather my wife and I did not take advantage (okay, I confess, I had a Founders All Day IPA). My 30hop burger was excellent, the fries were merely okay. Wife's salmon was good. Menu was a little fancy for our purposes (ginger noted in almost half the entrées!?), but as noted earlier the whole point was to do something nicer than usual and take a break during a long drive. We got in just ahead of the dinner crowd and our service was quick and attentive. As the joint filed up it got quite loud, a product of the glass, steel and concrete construction and spare decor - cool but noisy once it was full of patrons talking. Also, the choice of up to date rock/alt rock/pop was a welcome change to the generic choices one usually runs into on the road.
(4)Alex S.
(5)Katherine P.
Great food and love the beer selection. Happy Hour is fun. Love the outdoor patios and rooftop patio.
(5)Tim C.
(5)Melissa T.
(1)Tony V.
(4)Andrea S.
Awesome burgers, friendly staff, and great atmosphere- not too mention a huge selection of beer. They don't take reservations but you can call ahead and get your name on the list, so it was pretty easy to get a table. Overall a great experience, can't wait to come back and try all the other burgers!
(5)Katherine K.
(1)Jenna B.
I guess
(3)Nick N.
(3)Mary D.
This is probably the 4th time I've been here and it was the best. Had the Lucky Peppers, amazing, Sweet frites, delicious, and the Sriracha Burger was so amazingly delicious, I can't say enough good things about it! Great beer, great atmosphere!
(4)Geoff E.
(4)alove L.
Drinks and upstairs patio great....the food on the other hand i would not go for.. i have tried several different things and have not like anything its a bimmer cause the atmosphere is great

(2)Brandi R.
I am not one to eat veggie burgers but theirs came highly recommended and was much better than expected. Busy atmosphere but good food overall. Definitely use the call ahead seating.
(3)H M.
I don't want to be too harsh because there are always growing pains with every new restaurant. But my thought so far is that I wouldn't go out of my way to go here for the food...maybe just the rooftop bar. I've ordered the BBQ pork each time I have gone and each time it has been different. This last time it had pieces of carrot on it...odd and it didn't add any flavor. The side salad has ginger dressing but the waitress should tell you that or ask if you'd like something else because I don't like ginger at all. The beer is good! I also think, like any new restaurant, the waitstaff needs some work. After waiting for 30 minutes we were sat outside at 7pm and the temp was about 55 degrees. I asked if we could sit inside and the waitress said no, there wasn't anything open. I saw that they continued to seat people outside past this time and each person complained that they were cold and asked to sit inside. Probably a no brainer to take the temperature outside into consideration when seating guests. In addition, our waitress decided that writing our order down was too much work for two people, so she just memorized it. As a former server, this is always a red flag because unless you are going right to the computer you usually forget something. And she did. I asked for my salad early and she forgot and my fiancé asked for sweet potato fries and got regular fries.
(3)Jens Z.

Loved this place, went back again, and loved it again. Excellent salmon dish, perfectly done. Fun to eat at the bar too...

Still new so they are working out the kinks and menu but this place has real promise. Beer selection is phenomenal. Rooftop patio is awesome. Food was very good as well. Kids Mac and cheese could use some work. Hope this place continues to rise.

Have been there twice in the last 10 days. Service was good. Atmosphere was Industrilal Chic. Lots of beer offerings. Food was better than the average chain restaurant/ sports bar. Would go again when in Iowa City.

Pleasant environment but the service is terrible and the food is mediocre. Clearly understaffed in the kitchen. Nice place if you just want a beer,

i had the wings (they are ok nothing special about the wings) the sweet fries (very good ) and a burger also very good. would go back again. my husband had the lamb burger and liked it as well as the beet big selection.

First trip here. Let me start off by saying the property is very nice. We elected to sit inside because of the summer humidity. Very happy with the service; fast and very courteous. Had the ham & bean soup and the chicken pasta. My fiancé had the chicken salad. Everything was very good.
