Now offering lunch! I think the menu changes but I actually ate there twice lately. I had the portabello sandwich and homemade potato salad the first time, both were delicious! I then had Potato Gnocchi the second time. Portions were perfect for lunch and everything was reasonably priced. Sandwiches were $6-$8 and entrees were $12. I don't think this place has caught on for lunch like it has for dinner considering it's been mstly empty when I've been there. Would be a great place for a business lunch too!

Great concept and ambience. Loved the live music and the food. Fav was the mushrooms. Didn't have the best service. All the staff seemed a little grumpy and unhappy we were there but I'd try them again

Went there last night and found it very enjoyable There were two of us and we ordered 7 plates I think, they came out at different times but much, much too fast for tapas in my opinion- we had 4 different plates at one time and they just kept coming at the same fast pace. thats why they get 4 stars not 5, we felt we had to rush to eat our food before it got cold, tapas should be eaten at a leisurely pace. all the plates were delcious though, we had the aspargus, lettuce wraps w/out chicken, edamame, fried avacado, risotto balls, sweet pototo gnocchi, and margherita pizza. I highly suggest trying the avacado and gnocchi, they were wonderful. the 7 plates were a good number as we left feeling satisfied but not full or likewe had overeaten great food, fun atmosphere, but the food was served waaay too fast

Had a great night here, even though it was a business dinner. :) We were with a customer who had been here before and he suggested that we sit at a table with a lazy susan on top...genius! There were six of us for dinner and we ordered 2-3 small plates at a time until we were done. Very easy to share (scoot the turntable around) and fantastic food. My favorites.. Beef & Shrooms Lamb Kebabs Pan fried sprouts ( Yes Brussel Sprouts!!!) Duck Quesadilla Try it, you will love it!

This is a good place to go out and share a few dishes with a group of friends. We tried several dishes. We started with the lettuce wraps, which came out right away. i was a bit disappointed that the meat on the wraps was cold just like all the other toppings; the flavors, however, were very good. Next, came the hummus. It had a strong lemon flavor that overwhelmed a few bites, but the fried pita slices were amazing. Being at a "tapas" restaurant, I had to try a Spanish staple, paella. It came out just a little bland a lacking salt. We tried the truffled chicken macaroni and cheese. This dish was the worst we tried. It lacked that truly cheesy flavor and had a gritty texture. We also had the pommes frites as a side. These fries were great. Lastly, we had the Grand Marnier flourless chocolate cake. It was very good, but the orange flavor from the grand marnier was a little much after a few bites. Overall, it was a good experience, and I want to go back to try other things because it had a lot of promise. The service was great and the portions are huge for a small plates restaurant.

I have to say that my recent foray to Trostel's Dish is at the top of the list for memorable and enjoyable dining experiences. The tapas style dining, done with the right group of people, is nothing short of an adventurous food safari. We tried no less than 15 different menu items among our group and I can honestly say there wasn't one item that I didn't enjoy. The food comes out in parcels over time, which is great if you're into relaxing while trying new things, though is probably less desireable if you're in hurry. Choose Trostel's Dish when you have some time to really savor the experience. Better yet, go with a fun group of friends and try a little bit of everything. You won't regret it.

The food and service were excellent. There are variety of unique items, not your traditional tapas menu. Even though the food is slightly "fancy," anyone should be able to find a few things they like. A little expensive. The fries were among the best I've ever had.

Trostel's Dish is one of my favorite places in the Des Moines area. They offer a wide variety of different types of cuisine served as small dishes, giving you an opportunity to experiment a little and share with your group. They have an impressive wine list and a full bar with a cocktail menu. The cracker crust pizzas are excellent.

Small plates, interesting martinis, great wine, and decent atmosphere. The menu is categorized into European, Latin, Asian, Spanish, and American. With cheese flights and dessert as well. The service could be improved at times. But we were in love.

Trostel's Dish serves all sorts of small plates from Spanish to Asian to American along with an extensive wine list. When we went a few nights ago, the stand-outs were the shrimp enchilada, the tilapia and the chicken mac n cheese. The Thai shrimp pizza and the sushi were mediocre. The Concha y Toro Cabernet Sauvignon was great; it had a fruity, full flavor.

The food was decent and the menu was exciting, fresh and not too overpriced. The service was hands down the worst service I have ever received at this type of establishment- on par with bad service from a Perkins. Paul Trostel has a habit of employing good looking female staff- going so far as to place more strict dress codes on male staff versus female staff. Our server was definitely hired because she was pretty.. Our order was insanely wrong and our waitress was noticeably absent for most of the meal.. It's also loud in there and fuses sports bar with trendy upscale joint as people yell and cheer whenever a point is scored...

One of my favorite places in West Des Moines. Great menu that changes at times and great drink choices
