I tried the Veggie Omelette (no cheese) and multi-grain pancakes. Omelette was a little undercooked, but it came out pretty hot. Vegetables seemed fresh, although I wasn't a huge fan of their salsa. Pancakes were solid, definitely a must for your health conscious breakfast (ask for no butter). The rest of the family all enjoyed their choices as did I. Service was fairly attentive and polite. Food came out in a reasonable time frame too. Definitely worth a breakfast stop if you're in the area.

What ever happened to the old greasy spoon diners/coffee shops I used to know. Where the waitress is a over worked and underacknowledge worker who despratly wants something better that her job? Why when I'm on the road do I have to put up with places like this where they try to "hip" the place up by adding funky chairs and paint on the walls that no one in their right mind would ever want to look at. Call me low class but where's the white counter with the spinning stools that have the stuffing falling out. Y'all see what I'm getting at? The food here was very average as well. Pancakes with little flavor and really bad eggs. Its hard to mess up eggs but it is possible folks. I kow this is a chain and I hope for their sakes the chef had an off day cause I don't see myself darkening VI's door any time soon.

The food is consistently average meaning that it is good and is clean and not foul. However, were I to compare this to some of my favorite breakfast place, village inn seems more average than exceptional. However the service is excellent with quick coffee delivery. I really have never had a bad meal at this restaurant and highly recommend it. pricing is inexpensive to moderate. Typical tab is $20 to $30 for a load breakfast for two. I most recently visited on May 20th. The village inn was great at accommodating our party of 8 and did this quickly. Plus they handled the two party tab really well. overall - highly recommended for a reliable inexpensive breakfast and lunch experience.

One really exceptional thing about it is that they have several low-fat options to choose from, like an egg-white omelet, oatmeal, and fruit and yogurt. It's all a very good value - the complete deal plus drink is less than $10. They also have a similar deal for dinner with sandwiches, salads and pies (which are kinda their specialty.) The place reminds me a lot of Shoney's back before they started hiking their prices and changing the menu every few months. Not a place full of fancy ambiance, but it's clearly a hangout for locals. And the staff is incredible. They are very attentive and get the things that you need quickly. Yes, it's a chain, but it has the hometown touch and food you can depend on.
