Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Bland food. Overpriced. Small menu. I was expecting so much more base on the building/ atmosphere... It just wasn't the "authentic" taste I'm used to. :(

We've been to the other locations without issue, however we tried this location for the first time and it was less than appealing. My husband ordered the chicken enchiladas which were good until he found a fly cooked in the meat. We understand things like this happen, but it's difficult to stomach anything after seeing that. Manager took food off the bill which was nice but we will not be back.

We are here eating at Habaneros for the first time. Awesome good. Cold beer and outstanding service. Very nice atmosphere, definitely coming back here in the future.

I really enjoyed Habenero's and for this out of towner, the best in the Quad Cities. I think we have tried almost all of the Mexican restaurants in the area. FRESH, FRESH, FRESH! Feels like Mama is cooking in the back room. And, Mama knows how to cook! The only tip, ask for the "Mexican" margarita, so you can get a traditional drink. For people who know margarita's, you know what I mean. They will take care of you. Also listed under this link for the same location: yelp.com/biz/habeneros-b…

This is a great little mexican joint in a building that has some real character, especially in the bar area. The servers have always been exceedingly friendly and welcoming. Great salsa (ask for some of their "Habernero" on the side) that they bring in little carafes. I have had the tacos which are quite a meal as well as fajitas. I would like for the guacamole to be a bit more chunky, but the ice cold frosty big mugs of beer always on special more than make up for that little hiccup! So happy to have this gem in Bett!

Walked in to order take-out.... 110% ignored me. Absolutely would NOT even make contact. Totally bizarre and completely unprofessional. Menu did not look good anyway.

Food here sucks!!! Pretty sure everything is out of a can. Not real impressed with the service either!

Nothing special. Food was lacking in flavor although the portions were big. Service is okay, not overly attentive. Azteca and Los Agaves are still the best places in the area for Mexican food ...imho.

Quick and tasty, Habaneros delivers quality Mexican food at competitive prices and unparalleled convenience. Taking a recorded 5 minutes to get my food, I was immediately specious. I had never had such rapid service at a Mexican restaurant and a passable meal. My initial suspicions, however, proved to be unfounded as I received nothing short of quality food and exceptional service. 10/10 would eat again.

The ambiance was nice. Esthetically speaking the restaurant looked really nice and clean. The plate presentation was beautiful. But the food... It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I started out with the Caldo de Pollo. It was the best thing I had there. It was a very simple chicken broth with boiled shredded chicken breast, chickpeas, cilantro, diced onion, a healthy portion of avocado and a squeeze of lime. It was so simple but so comforting. It could have used some spice. Their salsa was pretty bland, it needed salt and spice. I had the Enchiladas Poblanas. Very simple chicken enchiladas covered in mole. Same boiled shredded chicken was used in this. It was very bland in this dish. It basically served as a delivery device for their mole. Mole was ok. Definitely on the chocolatey side but like the salsa lacked spice. Had some flan for dessert. Worst thing I ordered there. Very bland egg custard topped with Hersey syrup. My service was good and it was nice to see everyone helping each other out. I appreciate seeing the teamwork. All in all I'm probably going to go back for a margarita special I saw on the board but I'm still looking for good Mexican food in the QC.

Still trying to find a good Mexican restaurant in the quad cities. The service was friendly and that was probably the best part of the restaurant. The pastor and carnitas SR Burro were ok but lacked the flavor that both carnitas and pastor should have. Just left feeling somewhat unsatisfied. Eating here I found myself comparing it to la michoacana in Iowa city. I will probably move on to other items on the menu if I go back.

This restaurant is the newest in the Habanero's chain, already located at Northpark and Southpark. It moved into the old "Beach House" location just south of 53rd on 18th St. My biggest criticism: The music was way too loud... it was hard to hear each other, and there weren't that many people inside at the time we visited. The food was good. Very tasty. The service was very good too... the servers were clearly bilingual in Spanish and English. The meals I saw at my table: Senor Burro: Gigantic Burrito, filled with flavorful steak and chorizo, along with melted cheese and lettuce and tomato on the side. I thought it a tad dry to start, but when I hit the center, it seemed I found all the flavor... sour cream, seasonings, beans... I could only eat half, but I look forward to my leftovers. Steak/Chorizo Torta: Hubby was very happy with it... he said it was different than his favs at La Primavera, but still quite satisfying, and really, no torta is identical to the next. Chicken quesadillas (technically this was on the appetizer menu, but more my kiddo's style than the kids' entrees listed on the menu): I didn't try them, but my son seemed pretty content, opening them up to add the guacamole and sour cream on the side. Flautas: Ummmm... this one was a tad odd... it was essentially some taquitos, smothered in cheese and sour cream... which made it a bit weird to eat... it was pretty crispy if you wanted to use a knife and fork, but otherwise, you'd have to dig into the cheese and sour cream with your fingers to pick up a messy taquito. Taste was good though. I liked it. I will likely return. 4 of us for lunch, without using lunch specials, totalled at just over $40. Not too bad.... :)

Pretty authentic! 100 times better than Azteca! Love the pozole and sopa de fideo. You can't order those soups any where in the QC area.

The wife and I along with two friends just finished dinner at Haneneros. We had tamales, enchiladas, sopas, and a taco salad. All were pronounced very good. Service was attentive without being intrusive. This was our second visit since the restaurant re-opened in this location. I certainly hope they stick as this place has had a revolving door since it opened years back. Great place, beautiful bar, good food. It doesn't get better than that.

Great food! Service was fast and professional. I had the ribs on the recommendation of the Tommy (owner?). They were tender and delicious. Salsa was good and I would have liked a little bit more spice. The decor was interesting yet not my style and the only thing that kept this from 5 star.

Ok..a base hit.

Nothing special. Music was very loud. Service was pretty good. Food was bland and came out too quickly... seemed like it had just been heated up. The chicken in my dish was good quality but the rice and beans were plain and tasteless. Kids' meals (chicken nuggets) were pretty icky. One kid wouldn't even eat them, and he likes most breaded chicken. Salsa and chips were the highlight. We won't be back. Just tasted blah and left us feeling disappointed.
