I really wanted to like this place. It's close by and more of a local spot than a chain. The first time we came we waited 20min at a table to be waited on but finally just gave up and left. The second time I was handed a menu that was obviously sticky with crumbs and stains all over it. The waitress had to know because it was still wet from whatever she dropped it in. She didn't care enough to go back and get a clean one though. Gross. The burgers tasted like cafeteria burgers nothing great there. The fries were actually pretty good but if I'm going somewhere just for fries I'd go to checkers instead. Crossing this one off our list.

Boneless chicken wings are frozen Tyson nuggets. Not impressed. The WINGS are really good according to my husband. He orders them on a regular basis. This place is more like CHEERS, where everybody knows you're name. The beer is cold. Blue Moon on tap

Came here for a family dinner. We got here at six pm, our server took forever to get our drink orders, we finally got our drinks and then had to wait another half hour for her to come back to let us order food. We finally complained to a manager who didn't even apologize and used the excuse that they were a "full service restaurant" and really busy. Aren't all restaurants full service? I've never waited an hour and a half to get food. Oh and only mediocre food it was. They never asked how it was. There are a lot of good places to eat around here don't waste your time here.

In Bettendorf this weekend for a wedding and we were looking for a place to eat on Friday night. Since we're not from the area, we asked some family members where we could go and they recommended Governor's (3470 Middle Rd). "They told us they had good food and a nice selection of beer with a friendly atmosphere." We didn't really experience any of that on Friday night. We were quite disappointed with our entire experience at Governor's. Let's just say barring a slip in judgment or a divine intervention, we're not going back there again. First off, we arrived there at about 8:30 on a Friday night and had to wait for almost five minutes before anyone even acknowledged that we were there. Once they did finally come to seat us, our server said that the reason they were so slow to seat us was "because we're busy." We looked around and they weren't what I would call busy. They have a nice beer selection and I was impressed with the variety that they had on tap. It looks like they have quite a few local beers and bottled in addition to the favorites. Can't complain about that part of our experience, but that was seriously the only positive on the night. We took a few minutes to look at our menus and made our picks. Half of the food that we chose off the menu was "out of stock," though my wife said one of the items she saw delivered to another table nearby, yet they supposedly didn't have any in the restaurant. Either they're lying about it or they ran out of it at a convenient time. Either way, not good service. When we finally did get our food, it was greasy and crappy. I had a Reuben sandwich that had sauce so dreadful it could be used to jumpstart a vomit. Not impressed with the lukewarm cheese, fatty corned beef or the canned sauerkraut served next to a plate of microwaved French fries. We told our waitress that we weren't very impressed with the taste and quality of the food and she just seemed to act like she didn't care. No offer to get the manager or the cook out there to make sure we were getting better service, just a laissez-faire attitude towards their guests. The experience was so bad that we were looking for the escape hatch. Finally, after making us wait at least another twenty minutes for our ticket, we overpaid the bill for crappy, cold food that I could have gotten from any dive restaurant for half the price. Surely there are better places to eat in the Quad Cities than Governor's and I guess the relatives that recommended this place must be regulars and are used to their crap food. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone... even a prisoner that just arrived in the US after being detained in a Turkish prison for a decade. We gave it a try and they failed. This place needs a serious change in management or else it won't be open much longer. If only I could give it ZERO stars.

We live really close to here, but we've always been reluctant to try it out due to the reviews. Honestly, Now that I've been here to eat, I think the reviews are pretty harsh, and it's not nearly as bad as the reviews make it seem. Fried pickle spears. Yum. If you read my other reviews, you'll see this is a fondness of mine... and theirs were as good as any I've ever had. Beyond that, they have a wide variety of sandwiches, burgers, soup and salads, and more. There's a lot of beer to choose from as well. Service was just okay... the waitress was nice enough overall, but nothing special, and the service was hardly speedy... but in general, it wasn't horrible, and the food came out tasting fresh and tasty. There's no kids menu that I saw, but the selection is wide enough where I think my kids would have been happy there as well. I can imagine this place getting very loud and crowded on a sports night. However, on a Wednesday for lunch, it was just about a third full, and the noise level was moderate at its worst. With its low occupancy, our lunch still took about an hour for two sandwiches and an appetizer. Fortunately, we weren't in a hurry, and I've certainly experienced worse at other places. I can see myself returning. It is a great location in its proximity to where we live, and there's nothing wrong with the food... in fact, it could really satisfy a craving on one of those nights where I just want bar&grill-style food but I don't want to go far for it. It looks like they have a lot of specials in the evenings. They have a beautiful outdoor wood patio. Lots of tv's so you can enjoy the sports events while you have something to eat and some bar drinks or beer. BTW... Not sure what is up with the Google map on this... This place is on the corner of Devils Glen and Middle Road. There's also another listing for the place under Governor's

Love the place but little too dark for me.

Great place to have a beer and watch the game. Food service is slower than most, but it is always good. I love the popcorn with my beer.

WON'T GO BACK. took family of 5 to celebrate a family event with a Sunday brunch. Made a reservation 6 days in advance. We arrived on time and we're seated by the hostess at our reserved table. The manager Dave McCracken rudely appraised our table and we were told to move. No apologies just said "you gotta move". We obliged and moved to another table. Our server came to the table and informed us that they didn't have clean dishes and we were served on Styrofoam cups and plates. We were sitting next to the bar and could see the food coming out of the kitchen. The dirty foam plates with food were being stacked up next to the food coming out if the kitchen....GRO.SS. I think management needs to be evaluated and the health department needs to do an inspection ot he hygiene methodology used in food handling and restaurant management. Until these issues are tesolved....we won't be returning!

Was there today and I have never seen a total cluster in my life. Really? Wtf? We had a large table on the patio. They were not extremely busy inside, maybe 30% of tables inside with another 40 on the patio. The server should investigate a different career path. She was pretty, the experience not so much. 1. Did not keep track of orders. 2. My niece received her food to go as it never came. 3. One hour ticket time 4. The server played the blame game. She threw the kitchen under the bus. 5. Greek salad? The only thing Greek was the dressing. Mystery meet plus black olives and tomatoes. Where are the pepperoncini peppers, onions and kalamatas? 6. Orders delivered incorrectly 7. Bills charged to wrong credit cards. Did not see or hear from a manager at our table nor did we see one working the floor.

Enjoyed the patio seating. Excellent reuben and spinach salad.

The food is really great and the atmosphere and decor is lots of fun. I was pleased at the prices, and was happy to leave feeling full but not stuffed. The service was good and we didn't have to wait long for our food even though there were mltiple football games on.

The burger was just ok - although me and tums had a date later in the evening. The french fries were horrible - dry and clumped together. About the only thing worth it was a cold beer - fortunately they didn't have to make that. Service was adequate. Bathroom was average for a restaurant. They have a patio so if you just want to relax with friends for a beer you probably won't have a problem.

This is your average neighborhood pub. Fairly priced. Nothing special on the menu. Better than most. Service is above average normally. The deck area is a great spot to waste some time.

Slow evening about 9 pm, waited 20 mins for food after ordering and then the waitress comes out to tell us they are out of "Philly mix" and can't make our phillys. Wow. Re-ordered, took a long time to get and wasn't worth it.

Food is average and nothing that special. If cheap is your primary goal, the burger baskets are ok but the fries are not that good.
