I went to this place after seeing good reviews on Yelp but was fairly disappointed. I ordered Rock Shrimp which the waitress told me was one of the more popular dishes but it was lousy. I was there with my uncle who didn't even finish his food because it wasn't very good either. Maybe we just caught them on an off night or something because it was not like the experience other people claimed to have. For seafood in the Des Moines area I recommend going to Splash downtown, it's pretty classy.

If it's in CA, I'd probably only give it 3~3.5 stars. But hey, it's Ankeny, Iowa, you should be grateful to be able to find sashimi, oysters, and sushi rolls here. The seafood are overall fresh and decent here. Alcohol level is a bit strong on the oyster shooters, but it's all good. Sashimi is mediocre but fresh enough. I have to admit that the sushi rolls looked and tasted a bit weird compare to the ones I am used to, but still acceptable. I had tiramisu for dessert and it was way too sweet & dense for my taste. If you are ever in the area, make sure you try the local river fish, Walleye. It was tender and pretty tasty. I've never seen it anywhere else. Beggars can't be choosers. I was happy that I still sort of get to be choosy about my seafood in Ankeny thanks to Waterfront.

Great seafood restaurant for the Mid West. Good dining, reasonably priced.

I love Waterfront Seafood Restaurant. Had my first sushi experience here and enjoyed it. I am a big fan of the tune steaks. Great stuff!

Not exquisite but good food. The decor lacks style. It looks like an old Bakers Square on the inside.

Thanks to Yelp, we found another gem! Appealing exterior. Overlooks a small pond/park with lots of geese and swans. Great views from the dining room. Friendly staff. Nice selection of fresh seafood. Nice to see a seafood place with silverware and linen napkins. There is a full bar and an interesting sushi bar, which we did not utilize. The two of us had the sockeye salmon special, and it was delicious. Kyle was our server, and he was exceptional. Seating capacity is 260, and on this Friday evening at 6:30, it was about half full. This restaurant is located to take advantage of the economic upturn. Hope they can wait it out. We'll stop again if we pass through Des Moines on I-80 or I-35. We're concluding a 10-day driving vacation from Indiana to Yellowstone and back. We ate at local restaurants along the way, based on Yelp info. And we did not once visit a chain restaurant. There are some wonderful eating places out there. Unfortunately, with a couple of exceptions, they are not aware of Yelp, so we educated them. They were amazed at what people are saying, and more amazed at how the information is being used by people like us. So, please do your part to educate the restauranteurs on your travels.

Quite simply the best seafood in Des Moines. The ankeny location's atmosphere is a bit bland, but the same high quality food we've all come to expect from them for all these years.
