Our experience at Wallaby's was spoiled when the management refused to accept our $50 gift card, citing a change in computer system as the justification. Not only was the excuse weak, but the management demonstrated a complete disregard for customer service. The manager was "too busy" to even talk to us and the hostess was downright rude. Really unfortunate, as our first time outing to the restaurant had been positive up to that point.

The best advice I can give you: order the sweet potato fries. This isn't so much for the actual fries, but for the delicious basil ranch that the fries are paired with. I've never had a sweet potato fry/dip combination that was better. If you enjoy sweet potato fries at all I recommend checking the place out, just for that reason. The food is average, not bad but not great. I've tried several wraps, a burger, and a chicken sandwich. The chicken has been my favorite so far.

The place is awesome until you order. The size of the bowl of white cheddar balls was comical in comparison to the serving. Nachos were a single story affair; I don't know why they didn't call them a flatbread. Overpriced and under served. Margaritas were like the color drink you got from the plastic barrel from Donky Kong! We paid our bill and went to El Azteca to reboot.

The menu is much smaller than it was at the other location. Should have added more rooftop seating, it is always busy and full up there. Seems like a cross between a nice restaurant and a sports bar. Overall the food is good, pricing is a bit high for a sports bar.

My wife and I were excited to check out the rooftop patio last Friday. That excitement quickly faded after receiving our $10 appetizer that consisted of 7 chips and a little beans and cheese. When I said something to the waitresses all I got was an I'm sorry. Not feeling satisfied. I went in search of the owner who we found DRINKING at the bar. I politely explained our dissatisfaction at the food proportions. I told him 7 chips wasn't enough for one person let alone two. He was quick to point out there were 7 1/2 chips in that 10$ basket. I compared the serving size of some of local competition to what we got and was told maybe those other places would appreciate our businesses. I left feeling berated and was made to feel like We weren't good enough to be in his restaurant or worth his time. We have been faithful customers to some of his other businesses for years. We are at Dublin Bay one to two times a month with a $50 dollar or more tab each time. We will no longer support any of his businesses. The owner is a rude little man that should spend less time sitting drunk at the bar and more time caring about the experience his customers are receiving.

Poor customer services. Was brought my burger with regular fries instead of the sweet potato that I order. Server took the whole plate back in order to get the right fries. Wasn't given my food back until after the rear of my party was finished eating. Everything was very over salted.

We had been to Wallaby's before, but this was our first time at their new location, and I was so impressed! The interior is so awesome! It has sports memorabilia and TVs, but done very well and in such a way that it still feels upscale. We sat in the bar area, and it wasn't too noisy. I did see some other nice seating areas outside of the bar area as well. When we got there, there was a wait, but they did offer to text us if we wanted to leave while waiting - which I thought was nice. We decided to wait it out, and our wait ended up being shorter than expected. They had a great mixed-drink menu and decent beer selection (both on tap and bottled). Their menu consists of typical sports restaurant food, but all done well and with a personal twist, and it is all decently priced. Our salad was very fresh with good quality greens, and they have some unique dressing choices, too. I had a buffalo chicken wrap and fries, and both were great - especially the fries! So good! My husband got the fish and chips, my sister-in-law got a bacon cheeseburger, my brother got the tuna melt, and my niece got chicken nuggets - and we all loved our meals. The service was also great. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and checked-in with us for our food and drinks just the right amount. We also asked if they could make broccoli and cheese for a side for my niece's meal, and she cheerfully obliged. All in all, it was a great experience. I may update my review after a couple more visits, but I don't expect it to go down. I can't wait to try out the rooftop in the summer!

Had some spare time on my hands yesterday afternoon so I headed to Wallabys to watch the Dallas game. I was highly impressed with the amount of TVs available to watch games on. The bartender was friendly and fairly attentive. I tried the original Hawkeyes wings and were highly impressed. They had the right amount of seasoning to wake your taste buds without burning them off. Paired nicely with the carrots and celery...oh and of course Coors Light. 3 drinks and the wings were around $30.

Both my friend and I have been servers for years, so we get it that sometimes servers get busy and things don't go right..but this was possibly the worst service I've ever had. We waited 20min before grabbing someone to get our server for us and after over a hour of being there, all we had was our apps. Our water was empty numerous times as well. She didn't seem to mind or care that she hadn't noticed us for the 20-30min we were waiting, even though she had passed us numerous times before. I give 3 stars only because the environment and food was great! Service on the other hand was way too disappointing. Getting good service is what I believe makes going out to eat a treat. I've heard nothing but good things about Wallaby's, so next time hopefully the service is opposite of what was received today

I was very disappointed with our overall experience at Wallaby's tonight. We have eaten at the old location several times and loved every time. Tonight was a different story. We waited about 15 minutes before our server stopped to say hi and get our drink order. When she brought our drinks I started to order and she informed us she was training and needed her trainer present to take the order. That was fine but it was another 10 minutes before the trainer stopped by. It didn't take an abnormal amount of time to get our food which was nice. The trainee refilled our drinks and the trainer checked on us once. We were down to our last few bites when the trainer asked if we wanted more to drink. We said no and she left. Another 15 minutes went by and the trainer finally came back and very hurriedly asked if we wanted dessert, which we did not. She didn't take any dirty plates when she left and we waited another 10 minutes for our ticket. I agree with a previous review that sometimes things get crazy with serving but as a former server myself I know you also don't ignore tables for any reason. The good part of our visit was the trainer as she was very attentive. I was disappointed in the changes Wallaby's made and will not be back!

The new Wallaby's location in Somerset is beautiful, and in addition to the upgraded digs they've also upped their game in all other aspects of their business. The food is terrific and presented beautifully and the specialty cocktails are fantastic - the Smash is the best gin/basil cocktail in town. Despite the fancy new digs, everything is reasonably priced, and service is good. I'm looking forward to checking out the rooftop patio this summer. Wallaby's is back on the map as one of the best spots in Ames.

Wallaby's is your a-typical Sports bar with fun local and national memorabilia on the walls, aka local sports legends staring you down as you eat your greasy blooming onion! I used to go here and watch vikings games! I love that they have speakers on the tables so you can hear the telecast of the game you are watching! Total plus! Beer prices are good, Food is pretty good, Surprisingly they do have quite a bit of Veggie stuff including a good veggie burger. This is the place to be during ISU games, and it will be hard to get a seat! But on normal Sunday NFL days, you will most likely get a booth and they don't mind you sticking around for the whole game even if all you are doing is downing Diet Cokes! Nice staff, and a fun environment if your a sports fan!

My wife and I each had the my Mahi Mhia fish tacos. The fish was overcooked, the taste of the fish was overpowered by the cabbage slaw and $40 for two fish tacos and one beer seems quite extreme to me. A pretty ho-hum lunch, overpriced, left a sour taste in our mouth.

Traveling through Ames I was looking forward to taking my college son out for a nice meal. Service was not that great. They did not check on us throughout the meal and forgot about the some of side orders but still charged us for them. Their Wally burger was messy to eat and my sons tenderloin was on the edge of burnt. Might be awhile before we come back?
