Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I Looove the freshly pressed tortillas here! I've never seen this done before. They have balls of dough sitting snuggly together and a machine that presses and cooks them into the most delicious flakey tortilla you'll ever have! The blue corn chips and cheesey queso is a must! They also have bottled beers! What a perfect BURRITO accompaniment! There would be no better BURRITO in all the land if only Panchero's marinated meats and fillings were nearly as flavorful as Mr. Burrito's. But... did I mention they have beer? :)

Love the burritos at Panchero's. Can't go wrong. The staff is also very friendly.

Definitely tastier than yucky Fighting Burrito, but doesn't come nearly as close to Chipotle quality and freshness. Tasty? Yes! Especially the queso and the tofu. Good tofu is all about texture and their tofu rocks. You will get full on one burrito and might even need to loosen your pants. I'm a fan even though this is the sole Pancheros I've visited. Their guacamole isn't anything to write home about, I would skip it.

Why are you mixing up the contents of my burrito, Pancheros? Put the paddle down and step away from my burrito. I don't want the contents to be homogenous. I want rice, pork, and salsa regions. Salsa mixed with sour cream mixed with guac is just gross. GROSS. Also, too much tortilla to contents. The ratio is off. While the tortilla was pressed on the spot, it was chewy, yet spongy, and smelled of raw dough. Lousy burrito aside, the service here is painfully slow. Probably won't eat here again. There are far better burritos in town. On the plus side, the hot salsa is actually hot.

Looks like Panchero's has undergone yet another revamp, or style change or make-over. It had been several months since my last visit here and it looks as if they've consolidated some items on the menu and now seem to dice everything in to small pieces. Panchero's has been synonymous with burritos for me and my central Iowa friends and family for years, and it has taken a disappointing turn. 3-stars for acceptable satisfaction and value, but the legendary burritos that once bore the name of Pancheros are long gone. All meats and "grilled" veggies are now diced to the size of 1cm cubes. Perhaps this is more conducive to their insistence of "bobbing" the burrito to churn the ingredients for consistency. I think it has cost a lot of texture and personality.

I tried it again NEVER going back. Even the second time there the food was literally lukewarm seriously! I received a attitude when I asked if they could heat it up. Enough. There are far better places to spend my money.
