Amazing everything. Slow pour is the way to go, and these smooth and delightful brews deserve it! Bought a small bag of beans (great idea!) for a gift. Had the lemon blueberry scone and wish I could have tried all the treats; they looked so yummy! Pleased with my purchase and will visit again next time I'm in town.

This place is the real deal for coffee and pastries in Ames. The owner really knows her coffee, the staff is helpful, and the coffee is brewed fresh every time. It takes a minute or two to get your coffee, but it is well worth it. Also, the shop is pretty small, but cozy nonetheless. I recommend this place for sure!

They have excellent croissants, certainly the best I've had in Iowa and a big step up from the (surprisingly good) ones you can get in the frozen aisle at Trader Joe's and Walmart. My iced coffee was very good too.

Not only the best Cafe in Ames, one of the best I've ever been too. Best coffee anywhere. Fantastic rum balls. World class cakes. Absolutely a place to make a trip to if you're in the area.

Great coffee and baked goods, easily my favorite in Ames. The coffee takes time - do not come here in a rush - but it's worth it and fun to try all the different varieties they stock. The breakfast baguettes are delicious, too, and also not fast. The space is cute and cozy, though the tree stump tables are not the most conducive to work. But they're fine since the scones and coffee more than make up for them!

In town for a family reunion and stopped in for breakfast. We had to search for a bit because the yelp map was off....it's east of where the map shows. However, the experience was totally worth the extra driving. The four of us had two different kinds of scones, a baguette sandwich, coffee, an Italian soda and orange juice. Everything was fresh and tasted fantastic (ok the orange juice wasn't the best but it was a minor detail). The service was delightful...friendly and helpful. We would definitely come back!

I really like that they roast their own coffee but I think it is just ok. Although I really appreciate that they offer gluten free scones, I thought it was just ok as well.

Arcadia is hands down my favorite cafe in Ames. Their lattes, both hot and iced, are amazing, their workers are super friendly, and they have great pastry options!

Arcadia is an amazing cafe in Ames. They roast their own coffee and the local owners are some of the nicest people you will ever meet! Enjoy!

These people know coffee... and make great coffee and sweets. I'll be back when I can.

Just visited here for the first time and it was great! I got the pumpkin chai tea latte and it was delicious. The place is very good for studying and relaxing and getting your morning/afternoon coffee! I definitely recommend!

I'm a big coffee drinker. Since moving to Ames, I've tried many cafes - and got a conclusion. The Coffee taste is great, might be the not the best in town, but reasonably good. Once considering price and the taste at the same time, this is good. They provide fresh roasted, grounded and brewed coffee with very reasonable price! You should try. Drive trough is possible and the white chocolate chip & cranberry cookie was incredibly great- quite resembles with the perfect Chocolate chip cookie recipe from NYT.

It would be a mistake to assume that you should only come here if you like coffee. I'm not much of a coffee drinker at all but I regularly patronize this nice little cafe because of the quality of their pastries. The croissants sold here (they usually become available around 10 AM every day) are, as far as I can tell, the best in Ames; they are almost European-quality, deliciously crusty and flaky (and pretty large, too). When I can, I stick them in the oven for a few minutes, but today my wife and I bought some to take back to the office for lunch; we had them cold, and they were excellent that way as well. Arcadia also makes excellent scones, the flavors of which change daily; you can consult their facebook page in the morning to see what the scones of the day are. (They make both regular and gluten-free varieties.) Today, for example, the regular scone was chocolate/white chocolate, and the gluten-free variety was lemon blueberry. Arcadia also sells other pastries, too, but I haven't tried any of those so I can't comment on them. In addition to the food, the people who work here are very nice and accommodating; you can, for example, as my wife and I did today, call the night before or early in the morning to reserve items for you. All told, I think this is a great place and recommend it highly.

Completely awesome! Incredible baked goods and the best coffee you've ever had. An absolute can't miss if you either live in Ames or are passing thru.

Nice little spot with great coffee. The environment is not as inviting, maybe due to the small size of the space and the fact that it is located at a tiny strip mall. They take their time to make the coffee, which is of high quality. The cappuccino was nice and creamy, with excellent consistency. They seem to bake their own cakes and various baked treats. The ones I tried were very good. Overall, highly recommended place with friendly owners and staff.

It is astonishing that we have three roasters in a town the size of Ames, when the entire Northwest suburbs of Chicago has, to my knowledge, none. Be thankful about this of you are a serious coffee drinker, because you can't get better coffee than ones roasted freshly in house. Arcadia has nice decor, complete with amazing wooden tables and chairs crafted from a tree. These are seriously the most comfortable wooden chairs I have ever sat on. But enough about the chairs. It is all about the coffee, right? Arcadia opens right in the heart of the new wave of gourmet coffee revolution in America. The first wave started in the 80s with Starbucks (yes, Starbucks - coffee in America used to mean diner coffee). The new wave is for serious coffee connoisseurs. Arcadia prominently features its awesome brew bar with 4 Hario V60s sitting in a row. The pour overs here are excellent - I am sure the fresh beans help. But really, nothing is as particular about freshness as espresso. So if you make your own at home (I do), buy their beans!

This is a new place in town with good atmosphere and excellent coffee and pastry. It's rare that I take note of tables in a coffee shop, but these are amazing. Made from slabs of reclaimed wood, each one has its own shape, its own flaws, and its own character. I'm almost afraid to put anything on them, but I've been assured they can stand up to the wear and tear of the average coffee patron. The coffee is superb. They have a lot of varieties for pour-over and each one I've tried has a distinct flavor and feel. Their breakfast blend is named appropriately as it is uniquely bright. All of this, I imagine, is due to the fact that all of the coffee is roasted in-house. They also sell an amazing array of baked goods. I've seen rustic apple muffins, cranberry oatmeal cookies, coffee cake, banana bread, a particularly delightful cheesecake, and more. Every time I've been there's always something new* It's a good spot that seems to only get better. *Against all odds it seems that their repertoire for baked goods only seems to grow. Currently there are 12 different desserts in their cart. I don't know how they do it, but I can't complain.
