Stopped in for lunch the other day. Wanted to use a coupon before it expired. I ordered a Mondo chicken burrito on flour tortilla with sour cream and guacamole. I ended up making it a combo for $2.89 more. That gave me a side of chips and salsa and a fountain drink. I brought the food home, and it was okay. Nothing spectacular, but still good. My one complaint is the shadiness on what I got charged for. I usually check my receipts, but didn't do so until today. I noticed the bottle beverage 5 cent fee, when I ordered a fountain drink. A few lines up, the cashier had upgraded my beverage to bottled water and had charged me more, when I did not order a bottled water. I know we're only talking about $0.35, but if you multiply that amount by all the unsuspecting patrons they may be doing this to, that's a lot of extra money they're pocketing for items not purchased. Not cool!

All I can say is horrible, horrible, horrible! We ordered a 2 chicken taco combo and a super meat nachos as take out. When we got home the bottom of the plastic bag was soaked with, I'm assuming chicken meat juice, and the flour tortillas just fell apart. The nachos were stale and tasted bad, and the sour cream was extra sour. The texture of the rice was off, seemed several days old to me. Pretty much everything sucked. This is definitely the worst I have ever had anywhere. I don't know how they passed the health department review. Very bad.

The employees are smoking right by the entrance as we enter. She comes in and doesn't even wash her hands and asks to take our order. No thanks. Food is okay, other girl was clean and nice

Should be Zero stars!!!! Wow. What a joke! First, the young employee's attitude was less than desirable. I was the only person in line and she was rushing me on a large order. She asked me if I wanted sour cream and guacamole and I said no but she proceeded to put on anyway in a rush. I let it slide. Keep in mind I am the only person in line. She should not be in customer service!!!! As far as the food......again what a joke! Their version of enchiladas is crazy crap. Two heated corn tortillas with a scoop of meat rolled up and sauce poured over it. Come on! Really? The burrito was bland no flavor. Never again. Taco Bell is better! Don't waste your time!

I was in the mood of pico de gallo and I didnt want to go to Taco Bell due to past experiences. I got a Baja bowl and it was pretty good. Ingredients was more fresh than TB so I didnt mind. Includes rice, cheese, pico de gallo, and they give you a choice of beans, meats, and your sauce. The workers were generally friendly, service was fast. For almost $8, I wouldn't...maybe another time but not until a few months.

I was so sad to find out that the Waipio location closed because it was a minute drive from my house... then my boyfriend told me there was a Taco Del Mar in Kunia and my heart lit up with joy again! :) I love Mexican food and I was glad there was a location that was kind of close. The portions here are huge and I have a hard time finishing my meal. I'm the kind of person who orders the same thing every time once I've found that dish I absolutely love (which, in this case, is the enchilada platter). They always ask me what I want and the guy and gal that helped us recently worked quickly and listened very well. ALSO, if you're using a credit card have your ID ready because they do check.

I don't ever recall this place being crowded, I came in around 8ish and it was empty as usual so I was able to get in and get out. It ain't every time but the girl that made my burrito tonight knew how to scoop the damn ingredients! Not bad, not great, but also not chipotle.

  • Bianca V.

My favorite off the menu would have to be their fish tacos done "traditional" style. I go every Friday for their "Fish taco Friday" promo. You get 2 for under $5. Its absolutely a must!

  • Lofa L.

Daym why is good Mexican food in Hawai'i not possible? Yeah I knew I wasn't gonna get good food going in but I just wanted a burrito. I can make good burritos at home, why can't Taco Del Mar? This location was way better than the Kapolei one. They were nice and friendly employees at least. That helped make the food that sucked seem better. Also putting lots of hot sauce helped make the food better too!

  • Z L.

This is the worst Taco Del Mar I've been to. These servers are so stingy with their portions. I asked and paid for extra sour cream and guacamole on my mondo burrito and it was still such a tiny amount! This is the third time I've eaten here and each time I was disappointed with their portions. Next time I'll find a differnent store when I want to eat a mondo.

The most terrible service I've ever experienced! I have never been at Taco Del Mar before so I thought I would give it a shot, BAD IDEA! Worst customer service ever! The worker was really cocky, squeezed jalapenoe juice all over my food & I asked for those two pieces of jalapenoes nicely!! But that dumb ass had to grab a whole bunch & squeezed the juice all over my plate! Just because my one enchilada turned into a platter he got errked! WTF?

Horrid, horrid, service. SO disappointed. I just wanted a burrito! I ended up ordering a mondo burrito and tried to ask a question about it, and she ignored my question and very rudely tried to speed through the process of making my burrito. The lady was middle aged and just rude. I wish I had gotten her name. The other teeny bopper brat in there didnt want to be there and stood in the corner and text on her cell phone the whole time. When I asked for her to make my burrito wet (as she was rolling it so it's not as if she had already foil wrapped it) she rolled her eyes at me and said "sure" ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! Never in my life did I expect that. Not to mention I ordered a kids meal quesadilla that comes with rice, beans, and a bag of chips. she didnt give me my child's rice and beans and ended up putting 3 bags of chips in my order and charging me for all three even though I get one free one with the kids meal and ordered one extra. That being said bringing my order to 18$ for a burrito and a kids meal and an extra order of chips that got screwed up and got over charged and didn't even receive my whole order. BS. I tried to say something about the chip mistake and she looked at me and said, "that's what you ordered" NOT going back.

I ate here long ago. My husband absolutely hated it and I wasn't that crazy about it either, so even though we live in the area, I never went back. Recently, my husband surprised me and said he had eaten there and he liked it! What?! He said maybe the first time was just a bad combination or something, but now he likes it. So he wanted to go again tonight. It took me longer than usual to figure out what I wanted. I ended up ordering almost the same that he had, which was a steak mondo burrito. I think he put way more stuff in his than I did, since his looked like it was on steroids. My husband also ordered a kailua pork quesadilla, which he swore our 4 yr old son just loved. So after trying my burrito.....I have to say that I haven't change my mind. I'm just not crazy about it. I love Mexican food and this was just wrong. My husband still likes it, so we can always stop by for him. My son and the quesadilla?....yup....no sale...didn't touch it at all. Paid an extra $2.60 for chips with salsa, which he ate, but honestly should have held out and bought the whole bag at Walmart, which was our next stop anyway. They would have been fresher. Staff was friendly. For everything, drinks too, it was about $27. Hmmm.... Taco bell anyone?

  • Krysalf H.

Walked in and was greeted with a warm welcome. I ordered the platter and got it with enchiladas, pinto beans, rice, pico, and lettuce with chips and queso and a drink. From the first bite it was heaven. The employees here were very helpful and friendly.

My husband and bought Mondo burritos for dinner tonight. Two ladies helping us (one gas my order and another has my husband) both making the burritos side by side and the out come? My husband burrito came out smaller than mines. His one looks more like a Mondito. Not worth the $20 paid and definitely not coming back. What happened taco del mar Kunia? You guys were great! Now, your service sucks and you're ripping us off? auwe

  • Chanda L.

First and last time here. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Employee was smoking right outside of the place. Came in, didn't wash her hands and asked to take our order. We politely declined and waited for the other girl to help us. Smoker girl was also walking around with huge hickies on her neck. C'mon man, cover that sh*t up! On to the food. I ordered the taco salad. Meh. Got medium heat salsa and it had no flavor and no heat. Carnitas looked like fish and was bland. Never coming back here again! I will gladly take my money to taco bell.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
