Agree with the review before I post mines! Best on the island! Very fast and fresh! They also have the combo selection which I love! Also honor military discount! Love this location and way better than genki sushi!

We're going to Costco today??? Perfect, then I get to stop by NINJA SUSHI!!!!! Every Costco trip ends with a plate at Ninja Sushi!! I don't even bother with samples at Costco because of it!!! I posted some pictures of what I eat here mostly. Ahi Lover and Negi Hama are my favorite! They always pack it with fish! What's awesome is that the price is so reasonable! I'll always be back.

Very poor quality sushi. Service wasn't bad and the place was clean. I got two specialty rolls, one superman and one Hawaii. They were both supposed to have spicy ahi in them and the ahi was mushy and not really even spicy...the ahi itself was generally bland and mushy. They didn't have avocado to put on my rolls, I'm not really upset about that...stuff happens and you run out of produce. I might have caught them on an off night but I won't be going back there again.

The best Ninja Sushi on the island in my opinion. I always get a combo w/2 different maki selections and takoyaki. At the Other locations every time I get my takoyaki it's ALWAYS super hot. At this location I always get it nice, warm and ready to eat. My rice is always perfect and sushi is always on point every time!! Never disappoints me! They are sushi gods!
(5)Jill Y.
I come here all the time for the Sakura bento. Waay better than Genki hands down! I prefer this location over Ewa. If you like quick to order take out, this is your place. Prices are reasonable and location is great.
(5)Darren N.
Decent cuts of fish and good quality. A good take out place if you want a quick sushi fix though the nigiri selection is not as varied as a sit-down sushi specialty restaurant. That being said, there are a lot of specialty roll and bento options. Courteous service and fast. Price is fair for what you get. A solid 3 stars and would go back if I were on the go.

Love this place never to pack food great and fresh. Best sushi in town I come here twice a month very clean place enjoy eating here
(5)Sara C.
Spicy ahi salad is pictured on the menu as being on a bed of mixed greens. When I got mine it was on a bed of crappy iceberg lettuce. Not worth the price and false advertising. Not happy.

Went here for lunch today around 1:30; not busy at all, possibly because I went on July 5th, so maybe everyone's at the beach. Anyway, the server (didn't get her name) really didn't look like she wanted to be there - not that friendly. I ordered a Ninja Pak 2, which consisted of spicy ahi on rice and a salad. Food came out pretty quick. Overall the food was alright, but a little on the pricey side at nearly $9. My point in comparison to this dish is the one from Ahi & Vegetable in Downtown Honolulu. IMO that dish is much better. The Ninja Sushi was was a little bland and had way too much rice. Even with the wasabi, it wasn't spicy at all (and i'm not a wasabi guy). Bottom line: average food on the go with above average prices.

In general, I love the Ninja Sushi brand because a) They put together great dishes and b) I'd like to picture my food being made by Asian assassins who can kill me but instead choose to make me sushi. The whole ordeal of ordering just feels so dangerous each and every single time. I just got back from ordering at the Ka Uka location and as I write this review, I'm eating my Superman roll. I get Superman all the time-- it's basically my innate choice when I've been standing in front of the menu for too long -- so I've come to expect a certain taste to it. For this reason, I'm sitting here a bit confused. When I initially put this version of Superman in my mouth, I got a rubbery texture and taste that just didn't agree with me. At first, I spit out a piece of rubbery nori and thought, "Well, seaweed might have that kind of texture." Then I spit out some stale shavings of fried potato toppings. After spitting out a piece of rubbery fish, I started questioning whether I accidentally ordered the "The Scuba Suit" instead of the "Superman." So, I'm down to my last piece and not satisfied. Added to that, I bought my boyfriend a teriyaki chicken donburi and received a tiny bowl of rice, chicken, and a pile of onions. Not worth $17 at all (Yes, that was the total.) At this point, I'm thinking that I'm just going to dissect this thing CSI style and figure out why it was not worth my money. I gave it two stars because this rating is equivalent to "Meh. I've experienced better." And I have. Again, I've been to plenty other Ninja Sushis that would definitely strike fear and awe in the Ka Uka location. My go-to is the one that opened up at Ward. You can see my review for it on their page: yelp.com/biz/ninja-sushi…

I'm not a big fan of Ninja Sushi. I go there when I want sushi and I'm too lazy to drive to a place I like. This one just so happens to be right by my house. They had terrible service when they first opened but I went back a few months later. It was pretty empty (around 5PM) I ordered tempura udon, spicy ahi poke and a superman. MMMMMM. The girl was really nice that I actually gave her a tip. I usually don't give tip unless I'm being served when I eat in kind of thing. Later they gave us a free tempura roll sushi because whoever ordered it didn't want green onions and they didn't know what to do with it.

Service with a smile. Delicious food at a cheap price. Everything you want out of a fast food sushi joint. Spicy Ahi is off the chain!
(5)Marc A.
Food was very good. Love the Superman maki.
(4)Alan K.
In the strictest sense, this is not real sushi, it is a bastardization. If you can accept that, there is decent eating here if you need a break from the routine. The simplest way to discribe this place is a cheap version of Doraku in Waikiki. Various types of maki or nigiri top with different sauces or toppings with the goal being a fusion of flavor. From what I've tried, the ones with spicy ahi topping seem to taste the best, probably because the slight kick tends to liven the taste up a bit. An example is the Volcano. The ones with unagi tends to be merely okay. Unagi needs grilling or tasting just before forming, otherwise the meat is soft and unremarkable after drowned in sauce. Such is the case here. One thing I always get is the Tako Yaki. I've tried it in different Ninja Sushi and the quality tends to vary, even from the same shop. A good attempt will rival those found in Shirokiya. The key to eating here is not to think of this as Japanese food.

Went to the Ka Uka Ninja Sushi with the expectation of getting the same quality service, great tasting food, and cleanness I have had at their other locations such as Windward mall, Mililani and near the airport. This Ka Uka Waipio location is the worse I have experienced. First, the portions are 2/3 the size than the other locations. Ordered a donburi teri chicken because they were out of tonkatsu and chicken katsu. When we got our food my donburi was in a little container with just teri chicken and rice. There was no namasu or tamago and even no small plastic green grass. Other locations include all the above in a bigger bowl and with bigger portions. Secondly, cleanness was another negative at this place as we had to wipe our own table. All the tables were dirty except for a small round table. Of course the small round table was clean because no one would want to sit there since it was next to the overflowing trash can. While ordering I seen one of the food preparers in the back wearing gloves and feeding their mouth with fried chicken or some other finger food. I bet those same gloves feeding his face touched my food. Not acceptable at all. Lastly, the service and overall ambiance was horrendous and very unprofessional. The staff was blasting the radio and attempting to sing along with the songs. Don't think they know that they are working in a restaurant and not a karaoke bar. And the singing was very bad on top of that. Another negative was the amount of horseplaying going on between the four employees. Overall I would not be visiting this location ever again and whoever owns this place or is the manager should be embarrassed. I will be taking my business to the other locations regardless how much more time and gas I may use in doing so. Love Ninja Sushi just not this location.
(1)Nicole K.
I come here when I'm really craving sushi, and I don't feel like driving to Mililani or Pearl City. It is a tad bit expensive, but you do get kind of a lot of food. More rice than fish though. I like the tiger maki and the superman maki. I fit the WHOLE thing in my mouth! :) chee. The sauces they put on top of the sushi is great. It tends to be salty, but it's a nice hint of spicy. I do like that they sell the melon cream soda :) It's always empty when I go in, so I get my food really fast. Sometimes, I bring some homework here because it's quiet ... and I study better when I eat.
(3)Mike F.
I love this place! Been here many many times and the quality is consistent, and the prices are always fair. My favorite is the spicy ahi salad!

And the awful customer service continues as SIERRA, supposed supervisor of Ninja Sushi Waipio, continues to email me over YELP, as she tries to back pedal on the rude customer service she gave me over the phone. And may I remind all of you, she called ME up after I had paid and driven off to harass me about a 2nd free donburi another one of THEIR EMPLOYEES credited me for 3 nights earlier. Posted below is what she wrote. I'm over it. I took it to the BBB. Sincere, I think not. Siera M. has sent you a message on Yelp: Re: Don. "I called you regarding the incident but before I came to conclusions, I told you I would confirm with Lala, then return your call. Not even a minute later, you call complaining. I was simply just asking, I wasn't there when you received a hair in your don, I wasn't there when you got your credit, or there to hear what Lala told you. I was simply going to ask both parties first. So who's jumping to conclusions? I apologize for the hair and if we seemed unwelcoming, but my family owns a pretty well know restaurant on this island and even they know, that the customer is not always right and I feel that you were the one to jump to wrong conclusions. I called to ask about the situation, that is all."

I've been frequenting this place for lunch, simply because its probably makes me feel like I'm eating healthier than if i were to choose the other locations nearby. They give you a lot of food for the price, especially with the bento sets, which to me is a great deal. They do have a large variety of different items, including some choices of hot udon (haven't tried it yet, so not sure how good it is). Overall, the sushi is decent for a take out place. It's obviously not going to be the best sushi ever, but it's pretty tasty and fairly fresh for what i expected. Ive tried the lion and dragon roll, both which were yummy. The service is nice, friendly, and quick.

I used to not be a fan of Ninja sushi since they are higher priced than Kozo, Kuru kuru and Sushi Bay, and they were skimpy on the amount of spicy tuna in their maki and temaki rolls. However, with the crazy hot summer, we've been hanging out at the Starbucks next door so I decided to give this Ninja sushi a chance again. I'm happy to report that it's much better now. The service has always been friendly, the combo maki deals are good, and best of all, the food is very freshly prepared. If you like rolls with tempura shrimp inside (ie crunchy maki, tiger maki, etc), then you'll be pleased that their rolls have nice hot crunchy tempura shrimp. Places like Kozo and Genki are always cold and soggy. They do lose one star for a funky smell that always there. My wife really dislikes it but I tolerate it and eventually don't notice it. I think it's a mixture of floor cleaner and BO. Tasty food though!

I've come here before & like an other ninja sushi place it's been good until last night when I ordered the spicy udon. It's was unbearable. I couldn't even taste anything at all. I had to take out the noodles & was it out to actually eat my noodles. No soup was enjoyed at all last night. Yeah I ordered it to kill my sore throat but I didn't expect it to be like this! Ordered the garlic salmon & it's supposed to be cooked not raw. Maybe it's because there is a sign that says sushi maker wanted.....I guess we'll have to try again when there are sushi makers back there & not front staff trying to make orders.

Usually it's hard for me to give a place a less than good review, but after eating here I couldn't avoid the fact that the quality wasn't very good. We eat at a variety of sushi restaurants and decided to give ninja sushi a try while running a few errands. There wasn't a line and the staff were friendly but because the ingredients didn't look fresh we sadly will not be visiting this location again.

Ninja Sushi is my second go-to in the Waipio/Waikele area in terms of take-out. I usually order from Genki Sushi, but my phone call never went through (even after three calls). They missed out on a $50+ order, but that's okay, we visited Ninja Sushi as my family was craving sushi. Ordered a few items off the menu: the ahi lovers, two teri chicken, and a sakura bento. So-so price for the amount of food that we received. Waiting for the take-out took FOREVER (20 minutes+), but no matter, we were still hungry and needed food fuel! When our order was called, I decided last minute that I wanted to get a drink to-go, and the cashier gave it to me on the house due to the long wait - so generous! The food itself tasted okay, but not top notch sushi as expected. The spicy ahi in my bento was a bit stringy and the food that was supposed to be hot was luke warm, and the cold food was luke warm as well. May or may not chance going back to Ninja Sushi at this location, but the customer service here was wonderful! Kind and attentive, could one ask for better service?!

Spicy ahi inari was pretty much just siracha on inari. We couldn't see or taste any ahi... It was just siracha mush.

Ate this for the first time with my brother in law for a quick and close dinner. I had not been here before but I enjoyed the variety in the menu. The restaurant was very clean and staff was friendly. I ordered the kalbi-chicken bento and they were able to substitute the nigiri for spicy ahi nigiri. It was a slight additional charge but well worth it! The kalbi was slightly saltier than I would have liked. I LOVED the chicken. I didn't finish all my rice because I had 3 spicy ahi nigiri, california roll, and inari sushi. But everything was very tasty and very fresh. I liked the decor, a little much with the giant picture on the wall but I liked it. :) I can see why this can be a favorite place! #Yelp 365 Challenge - 007/365

One of the best things about living in Hawaii is the abundance of cheap sushi! Everywhere you go, be it busy downtown street corner, food court or strip mall, there's bound to be a budget sushi shop serving up tasty nigiri and maki rolls. It's not the freshest sushi, but it's a healthy option to fast food and plate lunch! Or that's what I keep telling myself... It was $7.99 for the hot udon with shrimp tempura. The shrimp were crispy and although fairly small in size, they were very tasty! I liked that the batter was dense because it made my tempura very crunchy. I prefer this over an airy batter that retains more oil. The udon noodles and soup weren't anything spectacular, but I honestly ordered it for my baby Isabel. It would have been nice if there were cabbage or some type of green veggie in the soup. I also ordered a spicy ahi handroll which was a bit small in size for $3.29. The restaurant itself is fairly clean and the girl cashiering was very pleasant! I gave an extra star just for her genuine smile. She even brought my food to our table on a tray which I thought was a nice touch. No one has ever done that for me at Kozo Sushi! Not anything I'd go out of the way to eat, but we'll be back when we're in the area as it's healthier than a slice of Costco pizza. Perhaps next time we'll expand our ordering to something more adventurous... Yelp 365 Challenge: #243/365 (The Love Of Budget Sushi)

This place is consistently good. Had ordered an aloha platter a few weeks back and it was a hit at my work picnic party at Ala Moana. Today I got the combo roll. I don't like the skin of the eel so note to self don't get that next time. Otherwise all is well. And don't forget to show your military ID for a discount!

Strike one...... My wife had ordered a platter for her work and I was sent to pick it up. No, I didnt have a receipt with me so that was a mistake on my part, but still doesnt excuse what happened. I went in, and asked if a platter was ready for pickup under my wifes name for the time that it should have been picked up. The cashier says that we have NONE for the day! I asked her if she was sure, she said yes so I exited the restaurant and called my wife. After arguing with her about which location it was, she said that it was the Waipio location near Costco which is the one I was at. I told her to call the restaurant and to clear it up. So I went in, and the cashier says that theyre making it right now and she goes in the back to help (hide) the chefs in the back because my wife says that she yelled at them about it being on time since the staff was on a limited time lunch break. I ended up waiting and was given the platter without apology by any of the staff. For a non busy weekday, how does something like this happen? Obviously there is some procedure in place for party orders......someone dropped the ball on this one. Even if youre a ninja, I can see you. 2 more strikes and youre out!

Ninja Sushi... what can I say... The sushi itself is still my favorite, but the service the last time I went was lacking. I ordered 2 Superman maki's which is my current fav, after waiting about 15 minutes they brought it out to me and it was missing the main thing that makes this roll so special... the potato chips... The person then tells me they ran out of the chips and asks if I still want the sushi, I tell her that the chips make the roll so no. She takes it back and then comes out to tell me that if I want to wait 2 minutes they'll have more. Why they didn't just wait for it to be done to bring out the completed order in the first place or at least offer the the chips if I waited a little longer before pretending that they are actually out blows my mind. =0(
(2)Eric Y.
Ok so I posted a review on foursquare a while back and it basically said the food is good but definitely sub-par customer service. The workers seem more interested in their personal conversations and/or loud music. I've also waited more than 25 minutes for an order during a peak period. A few times, I've attempted to visit and they CLOSED early. I sat outside and one of the kids answered the phone and said they're closed already. This happened twice. Thank you I'll take my business elsewhere. I'll only return if I'm in the area.
(2)Jerico P.
If you're looking for plastic trays with decent sushi inspired foods thaan you've found the place!
(3)David C.
I usually get the tofu salad because I'm a fan of the dressings it comes with. One is wasabi based and the other is sweet with some heat. The salad is meant to be dipped into the dressing. I think they need consistency when they create the salad because sometimes the salad comes with won ton chips and other times not.
(3)Kat D.
I had to pick up my mom, and since this is close to her office, and she raves about it all the time, I decided to try it. Got the Superman roll, inari, and spring rolls for us to share. Everything was good, but not the best I've ever had. I know, inari and spring rolls are pretty basic, but I have had pretty bad versions of both...The Superman is basically a spicy tuna roll topped with more spicy tuna and crunchies on top. I thought that it could have been spicier and that it was a bit expensive ($8.95). Overall a decent experience. My only complaint is that the trash was overflowing...probably from the earlier lunch crowd. There were maybe 3 others in the restaurant, so there's no reason that it couldn't have been emptied. I might go back if I need to pick up my mom again and I need a quick bite to eat, but definitely wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.
(3)Kalani C.
Been to this location a few times and the one in Mililani (for lunch today). Fast, efficient and friendly service. Have tried the combination meals, the Superman maki, the poke salad, the vegetable tempura maki and enjoyed them all. Only thing, I wish they would serve on reusable plates when dinning in instead of those plastic containers. Otherwise no fuss experience.
(4)Priscilla G.
best superman maki!!! its huge
(4)Scott C.
I really like the curry here. It's better than Genki, Sumo, and others IMHO. My daughter's favorite is the udon. She also likes it better than other ramen places. It must be the broth. The Waipio location has menu items that other locations don't. They have spam udon and chicken katsu. Make sure to call ahead though. The katsu sells out quite frequently. Chicken katsu curry is yummy though. The only thing I don't like is the price here. The food is really good. But for $7-$9 there are lots of options for dinner. The portions are on the small side too. Don't expect to get full for $10 here. Other than that, the food is tasty.
(4)Isa R.
I love Ninja Sushi! It's completely different from places like Genki, in the sense that the rolls are much larger. At Genki, you can sample a bunch of different sushi since the plates are smaller and cheaper. Here, you definitely have to pick and choose what you want to eat. In terms of sushi rolls, all I've tried are the Superman maki and the spicy ahi hand rolls, both which I highly recommend. Since I'm low-carbing, I've now discovered the amazing-ness that is the ahi tuna salad. The white colored dressing that comes with it is so delicious, and they give a really good portion of spicy tuna. The fresh won ton strips also really complement the salad. I want one now. :(

Watching the two guys in back playing with their hair over the food prep area! And NO HAMACHI! Not coming back
(1)Melissa L.
Idk,i like this place.. its alittle pricey considering what you get for your money but the girls are always super nice and the food comes out fast. They dont charge for ginger and wasabi like cheap A$$ Aloha Sushi.

I wish I started yelping much earlier oh well. I've been coming by Ninja Sushi's once in awhile. By first thought of them was "heh..., just a new fast food sushi place," boy was I wrong. So when I actually visited a Ninja Sushi being the Waipio location my first I was quickly impressed on how the environment was set. It was a kinda modern flashy kinda of environment with nice graphics made to present menu choices. The service is also good. Now, let's move on to food. I love places with free refills so this place got an automatic 3 stars for that haha. Now for the actual food. I really enjoy the tempura don; however, I did notice slightly different tastes with this location and the one in Mililani. However, they are both very tasty, but there is just something slightly different. Anyway that is my normal choice to eat. Today I decided to get a Maki-mono combo with the Tiger and Sunset choices. I wish I could describe to you the exact make up of these rolls; however, I really have a bad memory, sorry. I believe both contained shrimp tempura, the sunset I think had a seared ahi or mahi on top. Both are ono, just try it yourself XD. I was starting to get sleepy and very chill since the a/c was up. So I decided to order some warm stuff. I ordered their Ninja Green Tea which is not bad and then I ordered their tempura udon. Now this was my first time having udon and I really like whatever sauces they use with miso, very tasty. Okay, I was settled to give them 4 stars for the food, service and environment. However, as I ordered the hot stuff to wake up I saw a sign that they offered free wifi. OKAY!!! They won me over. I decided to give them 5 stars. So I am actually writing this review right now while using their wifi haha. I can both enjoy their food and work on some stuff on my laptop. Awesome, I think I'd rather go here to study than at Starbucks hehe. Let me end saying that today was a good experience because when I checked in here I also earned the Global Domination Yelp Badge hehe. Okie..... if you decide to eat here I hope your experience is just as good or better.
(5)Shanley R.
Tiger Maki. YUM. I really should try more of their sushi, but the Tiger Maki is my favorite. I've been to another Ninja location (I already wrote my review) but I have to say, that I prefer the Tiger Maki at this location. It seems like they give a little more spicy tuna on the top and the roll is bigger. The location is very convenient as it's right next to Costco, so you can always go take care of your shopping after a great sushi meal. The customer service is very good. We call in our orders a lot but when we do order in the store, the food comes out quickly. Glad I have this place to satisfy my sushi cravings. :)
(5)Shel M.
Always enjoyed their salads until I got an inch worm in my meal...YES and it was still alive crawling in my food. What a kill joy because wit was craving it and very hungry. My husband tried to offer me his meal but he also had salad. Yuck: it wasn't washed before being prepared. Never coming back ever, didn't even bother to call to inform them. Just watch what you eat or get cooked food so nothing crawls down your throat!

Ahhh. $16 for 2 Spam musubis for the kiddos, one shinko maki and one spicy ahi don. Spicy ahi wasn't anything special. More filler than fish and fish wasn't so great anyway. Spam musubis looked tasty but at $2.50 a piece it's for truly lazy days. I'd go back for convenience but not anything else. Oh, service was good though. The guy at the front was really helpful.
(3)Mac J.
Sushi was decent. But their wasabi needs improvement. Customer service was also good. The drink fountain was definitely refreshing on a hot day. It was a little noisy because the dining area music was not the same as the music coming from the kitchen. They are definitely military friendly. This place is a great location for lunch if you're in the Waipio-Ka Uka area.
