Didn't realize that there is two different menus for this place. Came here for dinner around 8pm and it was pretty empty. There were only two other tables that was here. Service is okay. It's like your typical diner they got your local Hawaiian favorites to hamburgers and sandwiches. It's a great place to try if you're just in the mood for some simple diner food.

Their bartenders Corey and Mark are awesome :] Super friendly guys that make awesome drinks :D It's a little on the pricier side here, but the pupus are pretty delish if you ask me. my top 3 go-to pupu menu items? _edamame_ : plain, garlic, or "poke style" (spicy shoyu) _kalua pig nachos_ : mountain of kalua pig on some nacho chips.. topped with some cheeeese and jalapenos _mini corn dogs_ : no need for details, its just mini corn dogs. Dart boards, yummy food, friendly staff... 4 stars in my book!

HORRIBLE SERVICE! The most simplest food took forever to come out. They charged us the gratuity for 8 people when 1 out of the 8 people were SIX YEARS OLD. If they didn't do that, they wouldn't have gotten a tip. Never have I had such horrible service and the waiters were just standing around. We had to flag them down for refills. We also asked for more napkins and only got TWO. One set of our utensils were dirty. I wish we had better service as we were celebrating a special occasion. I can honestly say I will hesitate to think about going back there again.

Love their saimin with vegetables. The Beef Stew meat was very hard to chew. Should have cooked the meat longer to make sure it would be tender!

WAITER SERVICE SUCKS! Good luck with just getting a refill on your water or even paying your bill. No customer courtesy whatsoever. But, if you have to eat here: - get stuff from the pupu menu - better selection than the dinner.

Went here after hearing some mixed reviews. Got there and ordered our food, which took a loooooong time to come out. Not to mention it took the waitress forever to refill my water. The food was okay and a little pricey

Ate here a few times for dinner. Last time I came here, I enjoyed their Kim Chee fried rice. The steak that came in a pupu combo was fatty and I had to gnaw on the meat extensively to digest it. Their mixed drinks are gimmicky and tastes like juice or just soda. I tried the Goodie Goodie and another drink that was something with cherry but it really just tasted like 7-Up soda. The Goodie Goodie as my co-worker relayed tasted like "alcoholic Calpico". My co-workers also had the Bob Marley drink and I thought it was cool that it had the red, yellow, and green reggae layers. Although the food was hit (Kim Chee fried rice) and miss (rubbery chewy fatty steak), I'd still come back because it's a good hangout and there's other food and drinks on the menu to still try.

I came here last night with a friend, pretty chill atmosphere. They have a decent beer selection with a good amount of food to choose from. We sat in the bar area which quickly became a bit crowded around 10pm. There's darts on the other end at the bar which is pretty cool. The prices are alright, didn't try anything on their happy hour drinking menu because I wasn't really into their selection. The food was good and service was quick! Our waiter was pretty awesome, very attentive and even customized us some flavored beer! Bonus! Good place to check out for a chill evening.

One of the best hang out spots for chill nights out in the west side. Parking lot is huge which only means one thing, lots of parking! Staff and waitresses are awesome and friendly. Drinks are reasonably priced but pupus are a bit pricey.

I come here a lot because it's close to home. It's a restaurant and sports bar (casual, family friendly setting). If you live on the leeward side of Oahu, it's convenient for drinks and pupus, and they're open till 2 am. The food is ok. For entrees, I like their fried noodles and oxtail soup. For appetizers, I love their spicy chicken drummettes and kalua pig nachos. They used to be known for their adobo fried rice but, something's changed over the years, because I don't care so much for it anymore. Service can be REALLY good sometimes....and not so good at other times. The waitresses always remember my drink order. That's always a plus for me. Prices are okay...depending on what you order. My drink is always a grey goose cran, and they're $8 each. I can get it cheaper at other bars I go to but, I love the atmosphere here. It's very chill. The staff is chill, and other regular customers are, too. There's a lot of parking (always a plus for me, too). They have karaoke (starts when the restaurant side closes). And of course, there's the dart boards, if you play (I'm just a cheerleader). One of the things they started (which I'm not too fond about), is that they charge a cover after 9 on Saturdays. I forgot to ask if that's a regular thing tho.

The first thing I saw on the menu was the watermelon cake thing. SOLD! After that, I chose a drink (Jack) and an entree (hamburger steak). BF orders fried noodles and beef stew. He asks them what kind of Japanese beers they have, and the waitress tells him, "Kirin and Sapporo". So he orders the Sapporo. Two minutes after our order goes out, a young waiter comes back. They're out of Sapporo. You guys are a BAR! Run to Foodland!!! Oi, whatever. Give me something else then. Our food comes in a fairly decent amount of time, and my hamburger steak was... ok. The fried noodles were...ok. Everything was ... ok. Nothing good, nothing bad, definitely edible, but nothing special. It was run of the mill plate lunch food on a nicer plate and for $3 more. The bf goes to order the watermelon cake thing since it was all I could think about...and..."Sorry, we don't have that today." End. Don't show me the picture if you don't want me to have it.

Maybe it's because I'm biased to this place because I grew up eating this food, but I love it! I always get the Hawaiian plate. I also enjoy the beef luau, pork chops, saimin, and oxtail soup. The service has been good every time I've gone. I do have to admit, however, since they renovated they could have gotten new dishes. Like the water cups and stuff. It all looks run down and old. It looks like an old hole in the wall establishment. But I'm pretty sure that's not the idea they're going for.

Great food and a nice place to get together with friends, especially those who like to sing karaoke, listen to other sing, play darts or just hang out in a local watering hole, filled with local people :) Nothing fancy, but it's clean and the workers are friendly and really try to please their customers. Gets pretty crowded after 9, but hey, the more the merrier, right? Pupus are affordable and drink prices are about the same as any drinking spot. It gives people in the Waipio/Mililani area another hang out spot other than The Shack, in Mililani. Not knocking the Shack at all, just saying, it gives you an option if you need it.

Service makes such a difference! I came here on a Saturday with a hole crapload of people that I work with. We were saying our goodbye's to our fabulous staff from the mainland who we've been working with since the summer...and it was their time to go home. Part of the reason I came was because I live within walking distance. Another reason was to say goodbye. My last reason was..for the drinks? But in anycase, our group pretty much took over the entire bar area from the darts section up to the tables. I sat at the bar because that seemed to be the best place. I could get my drinks from the awesomest bar tender and watch what was happening down by the darts and still easily pop up to say hello/goodbye while people came in and out. Now, I'm all about drink specials and during the UH game there was some beer specials going on...I don't like beer but I was trying to watch the wallet...so I had one...and then...at 9:00 Corey, our fab bartender, let me know of "frou frou" drink specials. I ended up getting a Guri Guri which tasted EXACTLY like a liquid version of the snack and got my friend a swirly temple (not exactly sure what it tasted like cause I didn't try that one) Wow. The drink was delish! and though it's not the strongest drink in the world it did it's job...i was VERY tipsy. In any case, Corey did an excellent job of checking up on the group and it was fun to watch him busy himself serving up drinks to my friends and to me. He even reads minds cause he put up a glass of water before I asked...which I was just about to. I love the guri guri drink and will probably only get it when Corey is bartending! I had such an awesome experience on this visit and will be looking forward to the next. #Yelp 365 Challenge - 065/365

Great price for good quality food and a wide selection of drinks at a good price. Local style atmosphere with great service. Darts, karaoke and sports available here also.

This place was okay. It wasn't the best looking inside (a little run down looking as a few people mentioned); however, maybe I came here on a good night. I see some people wrote about bad services and such.. I came here on a Saturday evening, it was a chill environment and the waitress was very attentive. After one drink empty, she kept coming around asking if I wanted another drink. I have not ate the food yet, perhaps that may change my perspective of this place? All I can say is, i saw nothing wrong with this place so far. :)

  • Jessica H.

So honestly...this place is pretty disgusting! The service was bad. My cup had a lipstick mark and my fork had food stuck on it! The atmosphere is dirty...I felt gross just walking in this place. I would've walked out but decided to try the food anyway. Ordered the kalua pork. It was ok...

  • Candice D.

If you're the kind of tourist that wants "real local food" with that "hole in the wall" aspect, this is it. If you were to just come upon this place, you probably wouldn't give it a second look. But something about them not trying to make the restaurant look good pales when you taste the food. For lack of a better way to describe it, the food is ono!!! The poi is great, the lomilomi salmon is not too salty but just right, and the pork laulau actually has meat (not fat) in it!!! And of course, true to real Hawaiian food, it doesn't come at outrageous prices. Great value for your money. Your mouth will thank you for this experience.

Meh thats what my word is about Nancy's Kitchen. Arynn I and I deceided that we should get drinks at Nancy's since she lived close by and I had never been there before. I was super excited about it. Aparently they were closed for a while for renovations but now are back up!! The floors are super nice and so is the bar area but the restaurant looks like they put old booths in there and it looks kind of sketchy. But anyways. Arynn and I settled down for some drinks and she tells the bartender to make her something good and I order the blue moon summer ale. I take a drink of mine and realize its regular blue moon. I dont know if the summer ale tastes the same or what but since I like blue moon it was no big deal. Finally Arynn's drink was brought out. Now this is the part I have to warn you. I just got my bartending liscense so I was watching him make the drink and realized he should have put milk instead of the oj in the drink he did. When Arynn tried it she almost spit it out. But being a good sport she tried to drink it. I think the bartender overheard me and then brought her a new one with milk in it. (He had originally put espresso vodka, chocolate vodka and pinnacle whipped vodka with orange juice. Yuck) The one with milk ended up tasting better. Since Arynn and I had been talking I ended up finishing my beer and by this time the bartender and I had gotten chummy so I trusted him with making me a drink. He made me a guava something. It tasted like cough syrup it was digusting. I asked him what he gave me and he told me it was their guava drink and it was the most popular. Yuck. Next time let me go behind the bar I'll make myself a drink.. But anyways Mr. Bartender you get 5 stars for being cool but 1 star for drinks. I'll stick with beer. While Arynn and I were drinking we realized something one I was the only white girl in the building. And two all the waitress' huddled in the corner and talked story with their friends and ignored the customers. Service at the bar was great everywhere else it sucked. But if you can over look bad waitresses they have karaoke with out dated hawaiian music, darts and a fooseball table. Oh dont forget those touch screen games too!!! Seems like an okay bar but not my favorite. I'm one of those hyper drunks that needs space to either dance or play sports. Haha. Oh btw don't start fights here. When walking out I saw their security was two 300 pound samoa guys. Pretty sure they could lift me up with one arm. Made me feel safe and scared at the same time.

My friends and I enjoy coming here to have a few drinks when we want to avoid the upscale dive bars of town. Great pupu menu and environment. Tons of parking available. The crowd is not as high strung as the town crowd, very laid back and mellow. The staff is great, great service and attitudes.

The adobo tasted like the pork you get in a crappy laulau. Bamboo shoots in the Adobo Fried Rice Omelette. That's like putting Bagoong in Ramen. I ate at this place because several of my Japanese friends said that they are famous for this dish. I should have known because they also told me that its the closest thing they would eat to Filipino Food. The service was good, just don't get the Adobo fried rice omelette. Unless you're still afraid of Filipino food and Nancy's is the closest you'll go to Waipahu.

Went here because my sister heard the food was good. Walked in and immediately smelled of cleaner. This little kid behind us said the same thing. Kind of an older looking kind of place. There were only two people working the lunch shift. Took the guy a while to seat us even though he only had two tables he was tending to. Once we sat down, we realized that the other person working there was the ONLY waitress. It got really crowded after we sat down too. The guy that worked there looked like he only got beverages and cleaned tables. I felt so bad for the waitress because she was doing pretty much everything else, including cashier work. Took them about 10-15 minutes to take our order. My sister and I were thinking about leaving, but just as we were about to leave then the waitress came by. Menu overall is typical...kind of expensive for the type of food that was offered. For a BLT with fries it was about $9-10 and a small saimin was about $5-6. Then we waited a while to get our food too. We asked for the check soon after getting our food so that we could leave right away, but got the wrong check. The waitress was super nice, so it was kind of hard to get upset with her...plus she was pretty much taking care of 10 tables on her own. Overall, I probably won't go back again. Food was just okay and service needs some help. The attitude of the waitress was wonderful though, so thumbs up for that.

Let me start by saying i will never visit this establishment again. I guess because they are the only bar/hangout within a 10 mile radius of mililani/waipio they automatically get the crowd that doesnt wanna head to town. Saying that, the place actually charges top dollar for all the drinks. Visited sat. Evening for a bday party. Ever drink we ordered(incl. Beer) was $6 - $10. Did i mention the place is run down & crappy? No specials, no deals, just straight gouging. Ordered a load of pupus and equally disappointing. Steak was dry and tasteless, nacho cheese was cold, and the fries unsalted. Major disappointing and overated spot. Trust me...drive to town! You'll thank me for it. I was better off walking 3 stores down to foodland to get a case. Actually, the bartender even ran there to re-stock the heinekens. Boooooo!! Employees are rude as hell and the wanna-be "security" was a joke. Any "regulars" here seriously need to drive to town and see what real night life looks like. I never did like a Nancy and i sure as hell don't like her kitchen. *SWAG*SWAG*SWAG

I agree with Kama. I will never go here again. 1) the food was cold, bland, just not good. The mini corn dogs are like the ones from Costco. The garlic soy beans were mushy and had a bad taste. The nachos is just cheese and jalapenos. Lame. 2) they automatically tacked on a 20% tip and didn't even tell us. Their checks "old school" where they hand write everything. They put the tip on the "tax" line and the actual tax on a different line. I had to ask them what the charge was for. Most establishments (in my opinion) will have an automatic 18% for 6+ people, this was the first time I saw 20% - and they had the worst service. 3) We were there for about 2-3 hours and they cut us off from getting any more alcohol. What made it worse was that they never told us, they just stopped coming by our table. Our waitress did a last call on drinks and closed our tabs because her "shift was ending". She lied, she kept serving other tables. Our whole group (15 people) had on average 3 drinks each and no one was being obnoxious and no one complained. The waitress finally told us that the owner was cutting us off. One of us went to ask the waitress why and asked to see the manager or owner. Both of them refused to come out to speak with us. At the end, the bartender allowed us to keep ordering drinks because she agreed we were not intoxicated.

My family and I eat here at least once a month. When I go to this restaurant, the Sizzling Steak Platter is my favorite. The waitress brings it to your table on a black hot plate and you can hear it leaving the kitchen. It attracts a lot of attention. With that meal is your side order rice and vegetables. I also order sauteed mushrooms to go with my steak. After a delicious meal, you need to try the Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Pie. It is the bomb! The restaurant is easy to find and for all ages. The booths are comfortable and wide and the staff is nice and helpful. No need to worry about the parking because theres a lot of stalls up front.

First trip, I ordered the Pork Adobo. It was tasty, but I've had much better. Service was so/so. Employees aren't that friendly and stand around talking to each other. I'll take my business elsewhere.

i been going to the place from when i was young, for some reason this place is getting worst. the service the food not the same. even my dad said lets just leave and he been going there i dont know from when. its sad when a place with history can lose it self.... i think the only thing that keeps this place open is the bar area...i work in the marketing field.. no marketing for you..

Came here for lunch because the the place we were going to in the shopping center wasn't open at all on Mondays. It was warm outside because of the vog so I didn't bring a jacket and since it was sort of cold and empty because it was a bit after lunch anyway. The staff seemed really friendly and talked very casually to the regulars who were already in there. I even heard the lady tell this couple by names, saying for the guy to take care of his cold and that they'll see them next time. Anyway, my friend had her sights set on a shrimp omulette and I was about to get a sandwich but adobo omurice sounded soooo good since I haven't really been eating rice a lot lately. Well, it seems that the shrimp omulette is no longer served and just hasn't been taken off the menu. So she had to change her order which was probably no big deal. When we got our food, hers was covered in gravy~! She kinda slophed some of it off and it was good for her. My adobo omu-rice was absolutely great~! warm, and savory and sour... I topped it with so much pepper though, haha. Come time to order desserts, and another thing thats no longer on the menu, yet a tempting picture shown right at our table... watermelon ice cream cake. Oh well, We got some irish ice cream cake with pistachio and two other flavors instead. It was heavy drizzled with hersheys syrup so it kinda masked the ice creams flavor a bit. I liked the oreo crust~ for the both of us and sharing dessert, it was just at ~$25 total Bar and Restaurant: I wonder what this place is like at night. The TV screens on the walls seem to be new enough for HD. "All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt." -- Charles M. Schulz

The food was typical plate lunch type food. It wasn't anything that made me want to jump and get excited about. The food is kind of pricey and the portions are so-so. For the price we paid we could've ate at Outback and got a better steak.

Came in on Tuesday night to listen to friends DJ and drink! Support your local DJ!! *_* It was crowded. Lots of workers from the surrounding businesses. And it seemed like the rest of the crowd was 21-25 years old. Yah i felt old. LOL. I told my bf, aren't they supposed to have good food here? He's like yah I think so let's order some. So the FOOD. We ordered the french fries, onion rings, and a steak combo. French fries were blah. Nothing special. Onion rings were big and crispy. The steak combo consisted of steak, calamari rings, and shrimp with onions and mushrooms. The steak was cold and cut in skinny strips with a string of fat holding them together. I was done with that dish. Also there were bar flys, fruit flys, or some bug that landed on our food. It just hung out. And they were also in between our napkins. Awesome. I asked the waitress for a water. OMG. When I got it, i took a sip and it tasted funny. I put it down to inspect it. There was a bunch of "stuff" floating at the bottom. And on top it was all bubbles. Interesting. Everyone started smelling it and stirring it around. No idea what it was. Didn't want to know. I was ready for the check and ready to get out. Got the check and the waitress didn't charge us for a few things. I ain't gonna complain. Hey waitress, Thanks!

Wish I could give Nancy's 3.5 stars. I'm not exactly a fan ALL of the time because it's a hit or miss kinda place. My family and I have been coming here for yeeeears. The service was always pretty crap, especially when there was an older woman serving us. She was just kinda brash and unpleasant. No smiles, no greeting, no thank you's or anything like that. Haven't seen her in a long time, so meh. When we first started coming here, I would faithfully order the fried noodles and know that they would be kick-ass. Lately, though -- and we're talking maybe the last year or so -- the food has been sub-par. There have been two instances where I have ordered my main squeeze -- fried noodles -- and they weren't even warm. It's like they were never even thrown in the frying pan! Had to send that sucker back. And yeah, I'm always nice about it. Even sheepish! Another time I ordered the fried noodles (and this is when I brought my BFF here and insisted that she would LOVE the fried noodles, so she ordered the same thing) and when we got our order, there were like less than ten itty bitty little pieces of meat in there! It was like a plate full of noodles and nothing else! My friend looked at me with this "WTF?!" look on her face. We asked to have more meat and when the plates were brought back, they looked EXACTLY the same. True story. Sigh. I really don't know why we keep coming back. Convenience, I guess. There have also been instances of not getting our food for nearly an hour. And the place ain't *that* big, folks. I guess we're just creatures of habit. On another note, the adobo fried rice omelette is pretty good. My grandma really likes the Hawaiian plate. And we all like the different bar-style pupus. Sigh. Oh well. Need to find another place nearby for when I get my fried noodle fix.

Don't EVER order their French Dip. It is dry as hell and that au jus sauce is HORRIBLE! Worst part of it all was that I got food poisoning! :\ (I only had crackers and cereal that day, so I knew this was the culprit)

I'm giving this place 5 stars because I've never been disappointed with any of my visits. I frequent mostly the bar side with the 5 dart boards & well I'm completely happy. The bartenders are friendly & will make me anything even if I refuse to order a "drink" , on the plus side there's always a dart board ready. The spicy chicken wings are my favorite & I recently discovered that they serve ice cream

  • Jackie M.

Better than I thought it would be. I had the sauteed chicken because I don't eat meat and everything else is deep fried. The chicken was dark meat (ew) but I devoured the veggies. My kids loved the grilled cheese (so did I) and the ultimate Saimin bowl that my husband ordered was pretty good, if just a little bland. All four of us were eating it and didn't finish it! Service was average. We might come back just because it's kid friendly and very close, if I'm in the mood for fried food, and I'll try some different menu items.

This review is for the restaurant. Went to Nancy's for lunch on a Saturday. First thing I noticed when I walked in was how dark it was. Realized I had my sunglasses on, took them off....yep, still dark in the restaurant. Next thing I noticed was a funny smell--a mix of ammonia and old grease. The place was relatively empty, just a few diners and one big group of about 10 people. We stood there a few minutes before we were seated. The hostess/waitress didn't even bother to walk over to us, she asked us, loudly, from across the restaurant, "How many?" I ordered the hamburger steak; boyfriend ordered the pork chops. He was satisfied with his food; I wasn't. I don't mind eating steak that's still pink, but I hate when the hamburger in hamburger steak is undercooked. Mixed with the lingering stink smell...let's just say, not too appetizing. I also tried some of my boyfriend's pork chops. I've had better--including my own (and I'm no cook). I'm not rating this place on their service. This is the kind of place where it's no-frills, so I wasn't expecting top-notch service. However, I do appreciate good/decent food. In my opinion, the food is mediocre, at best. I don't think the price is worth it. Whenever I'm in the area and want good food, I'll go to Big City Diner. Because even though I've been there a million times and have exhausted their menu, I know I'll get good food for my money.

Get the chicken cutlet -- the gravy is winnaz. Seriously wanted to lick the bowl clean! The wonton min was pretty good too. If you order the large with veggies, you will definitely leave feeling stuffed -- they definitely pile on the veggies! The wonton are WAYYY better than the crappy wonton you get at zippy's, but the broth isn't as good. The pork adobo fried rice is okay. It lacked a bit in flavor and it's pretty expensive for what you get. They do put a lot of pork adobo and shiitake mushrooms in there, but it still lacks the depth of flavor you'd normally get from these two components.

Came with my cousins and their kids. First time. There were other families there with their kids, but it didn't seem like a kid friendly joint. The bar was close to dining and the crowd was kinda loud. The food was okay. It isn't the worst thing I've had. I wouldn't want to have a tour of their kitchens though, if you know what I mean. Service was to be expected. All in all, an okay experience. Would I come back?. . Only if I was incredibly hungry and it was the only place open. If you wanna chill and have a few drinks, I would totally choose this place. Having dinner with family however, not so much.

A really good menu item ordered once was tako (octopus) poke. The meat was very very tender and not chewy at all. Best I've had on the islands. Other than that, you'll be served typical bar food. The mini corn dogs, nacho fries looked good. The drinks are inexpensive, but not cheap..normal as to any other bar. I get a very similar feeling as Chez Monique in Westridge, if you question the ambiance. Dart boards, karaoke available. Bathrooms are clean and lots of parking available.

I don't review often, but when I do, it's usually to warn others. I used to go to Nancy's Kitchen 10 years ago and always enjoyed my time there. Fast forward to 2011 and a few very noticeable changes became apparent. First off, the ambiance was still fun but it really felt like you had to be "in-training" for the UFC in order to fit in. Unfortunately, that's not what this review is for. I had gone to Nancy's kitchen with a cousin to have a few beers and to get a bite to eat. We were greeted very nicely and were informed that they were only serving offerings from their pupu menu. We were totally fine with that. We ordered the pork won tons, calamari rings, and pipikaula. Surprisingly, the food was delivered fairly quickly. I went to pick a calamari ring but it immediately crumbled in my hand. No biggie! I put it back in the basket and went for some won tons which, by the way, are one of my favorite foods. I love won tons!! I'll get them from the manapua truck, the Chinese restaurant, the manapua factory, anywhere!! I even make them myself. I'll still eat them even if they don't have great flavor. I've never had a won ton I didn't like.......until 2 weeks ago! I picked up a crispy, slightly more "golden browner" than your typical wonton and took a bite. The familiar initial crunch assured me that all was good in the world. Then, as my teeth closed towards the middle of the tasty morsel, there was an unfamiliar chewiness and softness unlike what I was accustomed to. A slightly bitter aftertaste soon followed and I immediately and politely grabbed a napkin for me to place the almost eaten wonton into. I looked at the almost eaten wonton in the napkin and was surprised to see that the wonton wrapper was not cooked thoroughly. Ok, it was raw. The ground pork was kinda cooked as it had heat exposure through the outside of the wonton. The inside of the wonton, where there is no exposure to heat or oil was, at best, warmed and raw. I immediately inspected 4 pieces by dismantling them and came to the conclusion that the oil was too hot and the cook had not given enough time for it to cook properly and that the wontons were not assembled correctly for optimal hot oil exposure. Our waitress ignored our table for about 15 minutes and passed us by twice looking at my plate of dismantled wontons. When she finally came I explained to her that, although the pipikaula was fine, the rest of our food was raw. Her immediate response was, "That's how it's supposed to be!" (by the way, peeps! I was a short order cook while attending college and cooked in a fine dining restaurant during my midlife crisis) I smilingly and politely asked for the wontons and calamari to be cooked a little while longer. She agreed to my request and informed the cook, who immediately came out of the kitchen to identify the snobby epicureans who dared insult his deep frying mastery. The refried wontons and calamari took longer to come out the second time around. Sadly, the improvements were minute. The 1 star rating Is being given for inattentiveness on the waitress' part, her laziness by bullshitting her way on an inferior/potentially sickening product and not calling a manager, the fry cook and his high horse, and the overall experience. Farewell Nancy's Kitchen. It used to be a pleasure!!!

I'm actually surprised with all the other reviews. I thought Nancy's was really good. However, it was pretty slow when I went saturday night so that may be a reason why. The service was really friendly and our waitress was really helpful. It's a great place to go eat especially if you want to watch the game. Hawaiian Plate - This comes with lau lau, lomi salmon, kalua pig, onion & salt, and haupia. It was really good. Everything was hot and the proportions were all very satisfying. I especially like the haupia. It wasn't too sweet and the texture wasn't too soft or too hard. Fried Saimin - Super good. I didn't order this but I wish I did. Fried Chicken - The inside was really tender and juicy and overall very flavorful. I would definitely come back again and hope I have the same experience I had the first time.

Pretty much the worst service I've experienced on the island. I don't know if it was because we were white and not locals or if the waiter just didn't care, but the service ruined it for me. My buddy and I were planning on having a couple beers, some desert, and playing darts, but after the poor service and so so food we decided to leave. If you're in the area and you're hungry save your self the trouble and go to big city diner or Acapulcos. I left like the worst tip of my life $2.

My wife and I ate at Nancy's. She had the Hawaiian plate - very good. I had kalua pig with white rice - excellent.

I must be a fan because whenever we're having one of those days of "where do you want to eat?...." we end up at Nancy's. Okay, so it's not gourmet food, their new floor cleaner is a little pungent and their hard wooden chairs are not the most comfortable.... but it's an old school Hawaii "local food" restaurant - hamburger steak, liver & onions!, Hawaiian plates, chop steak, pork cutlet, saimin, oxtail soup, FRIED seafood, etc. etc. A 25 cent gum machine by the cash register. TV broadcasting "Wheel of Fortune." If you're from Hawaii, you know what I'm talking about. My Mom loves the senior menu as the portions are just right for her. Dinner plates come with rice or mash and the standard diner veggies - corn, mixed veggies or beans. A complete meal will come with a drink and dessert. The pork chops are hearty - you get two nice slabs, but it's one of the more expensive items on the menu at $10.95. Steak will come on a sizzling platter that will fill the restaurant with smoke. The restaurant also has a bar area with darts. There is a 3 drink minimum during live telecast games. The restaurant is usually filled with families. ( I believe they also have kiddie selections) It's a good place to come after the kid's soccer games across the street. They can also accommodate groups for baby/wedding showers. The place will range from rowdy sports bar during games to nice family casual restaurant....all in all, a reliable neighborhood joint that I've been frequenting for over 10 years!

Easy parking Restaurants clean Air Conditioned Staff friendly Menu = good selection Prices = affordable (not dirt cheap or expensive) Bathroom clean Eggs Benedict is better than anything in Waikiki. Teriaki Hambuger Steak. Hawaiian Plate = tasty with plenty poi In the area of Kapolei to Waipio (Families with young children) Nancy's is a nice change from Zippys (Also a good restaurant)

Came here for lunch with my mom. I've actually been here years ago, going out for drinks in the bar section with friends, however, I can't remember anything specific since it's been so long, this review will just be for the time I had lunch here. We ordered the Hawaiian plate special and shared and also got a side of Chicken Long Rice, which btw, was $7?! Crazy. Anyway, compared to Highway Inn, their hawaiian food was much better. However, their chicken long rice was more like a soup and lacked taste. I've never seen it served this way ever, maybe they were doing it "Filipino" style?! Who knows!? But word to the wise, skip the long rice. The service was okay. The food was expensive, probably won't be back here to eat. Next time we'll just head on over to Big City Diner right across the lot. I don't remember my experiences at the bar being bad, and whatever food we had, I remember being good.

Over priced. That's all I can say. But they do have good dishes. Their oxtail soup is so Ono. Plenty flavor. The adobo omlette is winnahs too. Service can be junk, but that's just life I guess. It's also really dark in there

Don't let this old school place fool you....food is winner, you should go there for breakfast for sure...get the pancakes... Haven't tried lunch or dinner but go for some late night drinks if you are in the mood for karaoke, reasonably priced drinks, good and reasonable $$ pupus and a bunch of people just having a good time. This is not your normal "get decked up" kind of place and I like it that way. Shorts and tshirt if you feel like it or stop by after a dinner for some drinks. Always some kind of beer pitcher special or a drink special on point and the wait staff is friendly and helpful even with a PACKED house. You might have to wait for your pupus so order as soon as you get there. Ask for Taysia, she is happy, friendly and helpful. If you are in Waipio and want to go somewhere for some kick back, enjoyable, good time, go to Nancy's Kitchen....I will update when I eat a lunch or dinner there!

Home cooking right here. I had the curry beef stew, which taste just like homes. It was kinda pricey though for what you got. The waitstaff is young so not always the best at manners but they're working.

Great local spot. Looks a bit run down, however, the service and the atmosphere are great! The servers and bartenders were very attentive and friendly. The people here are really open and welcoming and just there to have a good time. I came here at night with some local friends and everyone was all smiles and having a good time. (of course, a couple of drinks later, and i was all smiles too) Good music and I heard the food was pretty good! This is a normal local bar at night, so no need to dress to impress. Just be yourself!

Second time coming here with my cousins and we swore we would not come here again after the first time. We should have listened to ourselves the first time!!!! Local angry mokes spitting on the wall inside near restroom, blood in women's restroom, rip off karaoke!!! Nuff said! Don't waste your time or money here, unless this your kind of thing. : )

I've frequented this establishment many a time with family and friends, and I feel like this restaurant really is the epitome of hole-in-the-wall local style food. I've never been disappointed as far as service or flavor of food goes, but I couldn't resist writing about my last experience. I ordered a small won ton noodle soup with vegetables, and usually save the vegetables for last. As I bit into my won bok cabbage, I noticed it was tough as sandpaper. Upon closer inspection, it was a wadded up paper towel! I immediately alerted the waitress where she promptly apologized and took the item off our check. Had it not been for the apologies and comp, I probably would've given this place a 1 star. Word to the wise: Check you saimin noodles and its garnishes thoroughly before consuming!!!!

Went here twice first time we had bad customer service, but everyone has there bad days so i tried this place again. I went here on a date on a friday and it was one of the worst customer service I had in a long time. We came in sat down and waited for our server. After a few minutes a couple came in and not even 2 min. of them waiting a young waitress went to get there order. After about 14 minutes still no waitress. We finally stopped one of the waitresses and ask if we could order. She said "no one helped you guys," she seemed shocked and apologized and took our order. We ordered a pitcher of beer and some poke. It took them another 15 minutes to get us our beer and another 20 minutes to get the poke. When it was time to pay we asked one of the waitress if we can get our bill and she said sure. We waited 10 min and i looked around and saw her walking around talking to tables, I guess she forgot to get it. She even was talking to the table next to us I think it was her friends because she was kissing and hugging everyone and dancing. After another 10 minutes she said she was going to tell our waitress because we were not her table. Finally we see our waitress and stopped her and asked for the check. 10 minutes later she comes with the bill for us to look at and leaves until we stopped her again 10 min later. All she could say was "I Forgot." If we didn't give her our card to start a tab we would of left and saved us an hour of waiting. My advice pay up front because these waitresses do not know the meaning of helping each other out or customer service. A discription of these two is one had long fake eyelashes and the other dyed blond hair cant miss them. I'm never coming back here.

i'm from town... how do i find myself drinking in waipio? anyways, this place feels like home... nothing really spectacular or out of the ordinary... kinda like any other bar with darts, tv's, karaoke, bar food, alcohol... BUT... for some reason i like it here... i think it's due to the bar staff... very friendly, funny, like-able, and on it... if you know me...then you know that i HATE having to wait a long time for my next shot ;) oh! and i love their won ton mein... it's not on the menu... but if you order their won tons (steamed) and order saimin...then ask them to put it together...voila! won ton mein :D ahhhh...the brain of a drunky :D

This review goes for the after 9pm bar, not the restaurant. My friend and I were happy to enter Nancy's Kitchen at first, it's conveniently located on the leeward side, very local atmosphere, $1 karaoke, cold beer, pretty waitress and attentive bartender... THEN 10pm hits and more people start coming, the friendly waitress and bartender now look extremely overwhelmed. It took FOREVER to get a follow up beer, the pupu menu, our order taken, the karaoke book, our karaoke songs taken, our songs in the rotation, we were NEGLECTED. The waitress looked like a deer in headlights. It took literally 2.5 hours for us to even get to sing a song and let me tell you, the bartender is fast to chase you down for your $1, but gets huffy when you ask where your song is. The pupus were nothing special and definitely not worth coming back for. I realize it was Saturday night and they were understaff, but note to Nancy's Kitchen, hire more waitstaff and get a new system for your karaoke rotation. I still had fun because I was with good friends, but the service was IRRAS!

Nancy's is one of my favorite pubs to grind and unwind when it comes to a local pub that is close to home. The beer is always cold and they've got a lot of my favorites on tap. I come here for their Ruben or French Dip which is super tasty. It's not cheap eats, but the atmosphere is always fun and the karaoke during late nights is always entertaining. I love their Pipikaula, but gawdamn it's expensive!

This was the first time I've been here for dinner. I have to say.. I won't be back for dinner. Probably won't go for lunch either. I give it two stars because i still think the drinks and most of the food is decent. The service was extremely slow. There were 5 in our party and it took 45 minutes for the last person, my nephew to get his food. Everybody else's food was ok. My nephew who waited 45 minutes for his honey dipped fried chicken was extremely disappointed. The chicken although hot on the outside, was refrigerator cold on the inside. After waiting 45 minutes? Are you kidding me? So obviously were' going to ask if the chicken was freshly cooked? The waitress says "yes". I believe she believes what' she's telling us. Then we ask her to poke her finger into the supposedly freshly fried chicken, and she says, oh yeah, its cold? And i'm not talking room temperature cold either I'm talking refrigerator cold. Now how can the outside of the chicken be warm and crispy but the inside is cold? Its probably because the chicken was precooked in the refrigerator which is why it was warm and crispy on the outside but nice and cold on the inside and took so long. So no, the chicken wasn't freshly cooked. Drinks and stuff is okay, but meals, i'll pass.

Pretty good choice for food/drinks in Central Oahu. They are known for their pork adobo fried rice omelette. It sounds like a mouthful, and it is. They also have a pretty good Hawaiian plate. Their tako poke is above average as well. I also like the fact they have a decent sized bar off to the side, where you can go and watch a football game or throw some darts while you sip your beer. Do not get the oxtail soup here. It's kind of nasty, and they leave way too much fat on the meat. I literally cut off a small bowl's worth of fat, and that only made the soup passable. Food overall is good, but the service can be a bit spotty.

Being I live in the Leeward area, I wish I could bring myself to go here more often but every time I go I experience lengthy wait times for my food and lack of service. The vegetable saimin is a definite favorite of mine and the greasy bar appetizers are nice with a drink while watching a UH football game. But I can no longer stomach the wait and constantly having to ask the server for something when he/she should be checking if everything is alright. Come on!! I understand this isn't a 5 star restaurant where I expect to be waited on hand and foot....I do expect for my food to come out in a timely manner and the server to check in every now and then...not just take the order, bring the order, and hand me the check.

Went tonight with a couple friends and waited for 13mins at a table and no waitress even greeted us or even came to the table for our drink orders... Oh my... It was pretty horrible... All their Waitress would walk right pass our table and not even say anything to us but would look straight at us. I finally just asked a waitress if we could order and she said.."oh I'll go and get your waitress." we ended up waiting a total of 20 mins... And left with no drinks at all... Not even water! We were jus looking to have a good time but ended up having a terrible time...

Everytime I go to Nancys I swear I run into someone that I went to high school with, whether it be an old teacher, classmate, or ex bf. Even still, I enjoy this place. It's nice and clean, with drink specials, dart boards, and $1 songs for karaoke. If the bar gets too full, they'll sit you on the dine-in side. I'll review the food next time I actually eat there. Lately I've only been hitting up the bar.

The Hawaiian plate is great: lots of food, very tasty, nice price. This place was a lifesaver the day some mainland friends were in town but Highway Inn was closed. Plus, there's a Dave's Ice Cream Parlor in the same complex! :o)

While I agree that this is a locals only type place its not worth the drive out to Gentry if you're in town or a tourist. The food is good, but there are better places for Hawaiian food in town - like Ono One Hawaiian Food. That said, I would caution that apparently the portion sizes have shrunk a bit of late so while its reasonably priced if you're a big eater you may want to order an extra entree. That said, the place is quite homey, the prices are reasonable, and the have a large menu with a wide range of items available so there's totally something for everyone here.

Got the Hawaiian Plate here and it was pretty good....Da poi was fresh and the kalua pig was tasty. Da pork laulau was skimpy and seemed to be missing the traditional butterfish. The lomi salmon used salmon that was already cooked.....which seems to be more and more of the case these days. So 3 stars for the food. This place is also fun to throw darts or just cruise late at night. It's usually not too packed and the crowd is pretty chill. One bonus star for this!!

Came here on a monday after finding out that our original destination, acapulco, was closed =( and I wanted some mexican food too. O wells, I always wanted to give nancys a try and I got my chance. My friend and I came here at 2p and the place was empty, with only 2 other tables taken up and another couple walking in after we placed our order. The menu is your usual local kine grindz with hawaiian usuals like laulau and kalua pig. I wanted to get the shrimp omelet but the waitress said they dont make that anymore so I was a bit disappointed. So, now I had to make a quick decision and got the hot turkey sandwich with mash potatoes and gravy along with corn chowder (which was a choice between soup, salad or mac salad). When the chowder came, I thought it was a really thick, congealed like. It was okay, but I prefer a more soupier chowder. When the entree finally came and I was surprised that the WHOLE thing was covered in gravy, like seriously, almost spilling off the plate! If only i'd known then i would have gotten it on the side or just on the mash. Overall it was pretty good. The turkey was deli type, and would have been better if it was fresh and with some cranberry, like thanksgiving all over again...mmm. For dessert my friend and I got the irish ice cream cake which came with a top layer of pistachio ice cream, a yellow layer (idk the flavor) and vanilla on the bottom all on top of an oreo crust and drizzled with chocolate syrup. It was good and satisfying. Overall the food and experience was a okay, theres no food out of the ordinary so idk if i'd be back anytime soon.

A solid choice for the Leeward side. Nothing is really going to blow your skirt up here but you won't be disappointed neither if you just want some local style food and reasonably priced beer. The quality of the food isn't really great but on the other hand there are suprisingly few places serving the local fare in that neighborhood, so it's tolarable. The bar has some TVs and they do Karaokie on some nights. They have nightly $4 shot specials and just barely enough beer selection so that everyone should be able to find something. I didn't have it but the Ox Tail Soup looked ono. I've had their pupu steak a couple times but never again.

Great local 'comfort food'!! Been here for bkfst/lunch/& dinner, all good! Within the last month they seemed to have kicked it up a notch regarding flavor which is always a plus. Don't worry about not having enough because their plates will fill you. Staff is great. All around great casual family place and if your looking for a watering hole this bar with it's pupus are on point. And the after hours karaoke/bar patrons are usually well behaved....usually!?!!?

Google Navigator took me to the front of some church instead of here, So that was an adventure within itself. I just remember sitting at the church going "Hmmm, this does look like a bar." I never really travel over here much, but I know this place is in the shopping center so its just further down. After a long day at the beach and bbq'n (and drinking) few friends wanted to go here. Lots of parking since it is inside a shopping center. Pretty big place, we took a seat away from the bar, in a room that had a dart board. So, got to play darts! It was happy hour, though the happy hour prices seemed like normal prices to me. They do have a huge selection of drinks though. I just got a big draft beer. Friends noted that the mixed drinks were average. Service is good though, and the waitress took care of us constantly checking on us. Drinks never made it to empty as she kept them coming! Don't really know how the bar setting was because I did not venture over there, but it was crowded, people were singing drunk karaoke and seemed like a good group of people. I did not get to eat any of the food here either, maybe next time. Seems like a nice place if you are ever in the area to grab some drinks and food. Not the cheapest places. Darts is a plus though. And for a Sunday night on Labor Day it did not get to busy.

Service is average, food is average, drink prices are average. Atomosphere is great though. Overall it's just an OK bar. I like going because aside from the Shack in Mililani (which is 2 min from my house), Nancys is the next closest bar, and the only bar that serves 22 oz Heineken.

I ordered the pork adobo fried rice omelette after reading the reviews. They had it all day, not just for breakfast. It was a huge portion, but I thought the flavor in the fried rice was slightly boring. I suppose it couldn't be like having real adobo over plain, white rice. Husband ordered a plate (don't remember the name) of Hawaiian dishes. They tasted quite authentic, and we noticed the other customers (both couples and families) seemed to be "regulars" and pleased w/ the atmosphere, service and food.

This evening was my first time here. I've seen it a dozen times and hesitated on trying it out (looks so dark from the outside). First walking in I noticed how clean and spacious it was. Area for bar, area for dining. Looks like it can accommodate nice sized groups. Seated promptly and drink orders taking pretty timely. Food came out in pretty good timing, but main meal came out same time as the appetizer did. I should have clarified I wanted the wontons as an app. They were crispy, maybe just a little too, but okay none the less. I ordered the mahi plate, side salad, and kailua pork. The mahi was nothing special, but the tartar sauce made it tasty. The pork was good. I would come back for the pork. The side salad....hmmm, I was thinking it would be more than lettuce, but I had so much food I forgot it was on the table. They had Blue Moon on draft which surprised me. The bathroom was super clean which is a plus. Seemed like a good atmosphere whether you're with fam or just kickin' it at the bar.

The food was nothing great. We came to eat and drink but because we came around the time they were going to stop serving food from the menu. They IGNORED us till after the kitchen closed. Then our waitress was just rude, she seemed to be having a bad day but it does not mean you act like that towards your customer. She kept forgetting to give us our change back. She also kept double charging us every time we ordered pupus or a drink. The worst part was when we ordered onion rings. After she picked it up from the cook and saw that it was ALL BURNT as in BLACK she still gave it to us like we were going to eat it. This is the WORST service I have ever had. They don't even have good phone manners. I called to see if I left my eye glasses there and the lady just forgot about me and hung up after I waited for 10 minutes.

My friends and I have been going to Nancy's regularly for about a year now. Last night, about 9 of us were there, having a few drinks and enjoying ourselves. I guess we were having too much of a good time, the manager walked by our table and shushed us! I couldn't believe it. Then he kept looking at us with a mean face and we all felt uncomfortable, we closed our tab and left. We will not be going back again.

The kids and I give Nancy's a 4. They say it would've been a 5 if not for the squid luau (not good at all). My son (7), loves the Kalua pig, chicken cutlet, and the teriyaki steak. My daughter loves the adobo fried rice with some Lomi salmon. The hamburger steak is always Ono with some side of fries. Service is friendly, not always the quickest but good atmosphere.

No stars should be given to this unprofessional place. Here's the story: We usually sit at the bar but it was full so we sat at the restaurant area. ordered 2 drinks, monster vodka and a regular iced tea, total price $15.50. I looked at the waitress and asked her how much my monster vodka was and she said $9.50. godamn! drinks don't even cost that much in waikiki! anyway, second round came and instead of another iced tea, husband ordered a cranberry vodka, total amount $17.50. So I thought okay, it went a little higher because it's a different drink. third round came, ordered same exact thing, monster vodka and cranberry vodka, total amount, $21! I looked at the waitress and asked her if tips were included. she said no. Asked her how the fuck my drink prices kept going up and she said with attitude, "like me print out one receipt for you?" bitch i know you can make up any thing on a receipt! GTFOH! never gave her tip for i know the bitch is probably pocketing the money anyway. So when we went to the bar to get our fourth round of drinks... total amount: $12.50. Never going back to that place.

Never been here before but friends recommended this place. Our party was seated very fast. Waitress came to take our order. We had 2 separate checks. She forgot to get 1 persons order though. We also got 3 appetizers. Our main meals came out before our appetizers. An appetizer is a small dish of food before the meal to stimulate one's appetite. Also called a " Starter " or a " First Course ". The meals came out first then the appetizers came out 5 to 10 minutes after. When the server dropped the check, she didn't let us know the "Service Charge" aka Gratuity was added on to the check. A 20% Service Charge / Gratuity is s bit much to expect from parties. Gratuities added to checks are illegal but the server says they call it a Service Charge. It's the same damn thing, you just word it differently. By adding in a 20% , the server probably didn't care that the appetizers came out last because she already knew she would get a 20 % tip whether she did s good job or not. She ended up taking it off the 20% "Service Charge".

Sung to the tune of "Unforgettable" by Nat King/Natalie Cole Forgettable, that's what you are Forgettable, though near or far Like a margarita that has no booze And the service is a total snooze Never before has the waitress been more Forgettable in every way Forgettable that's how you'll stay I am never ever coming back And I'd rather eat a paper sack Coz the paper sack probably tastes better too Forgettable, in every way And Forever more that's how you'll stay That's why food there is inedible And I am totally credible So trust me when I say, its totally forgettable too. -------end of my song-writing career ------ $10 margarita that tastes like 7-11 slush? No one coming around to fill waters? Our friend had 3 double Cape Cods and her bill was $52?! The atmosphere is totally cafeteria. Food is cafeteria fare complete with congealed gravy, frozen Crinkle Cut fries and frozen veggies (some local hospitals have better food than this fry-zap joint). Drinks suck. It was so bad it was unforgettable.

First time and might be the only time. Not because they're a bad place. We just happened to be in Waipio area and wanted to get food and have a drink. Stopped in around 4pm and it was pretty empty (normal for a Sunday in my perspective) so we were sat right away. For me, I don't particularly enjoy menus with too many choices and this one had way too many. It is well organized but I just felt overwhelmed with choices. Another note on the menu, no sign of alcoholic beverages on it, kinda just asked for a regular name brand, didn't even know they offer pitchers. Must be something for those that are regulars or those that sit at the bar. For my boyfriend, he ordered the honey dipped chicken, which he didn't feel tasted very 'honey' or sweet, more salty if anything. There was a misunderstanding with the side orders and that just frustrates me. I'd go back for the bar, dining is not the attraction for me. But a trusted friend recommends it and I will go back with an open mind.

If I could go to Nancy's everyday, I would. Half bar, half restaurant...the food is great, and so are the drinks. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus whatever cocktail you want. Did I mention booze? Lol. Anyways, I love it here. Staff is very friendly, and I'm here so often, they feel more like family. Got kids? That's ok... Restaurant is perfect. Got a babysitter? That's awesome too... Go to the bar. You'll love it. Ps. Best chicken wings on the island.

I'm a little surprised at all the negative reviews of Nancy's Kitchen, and in fact after seeing them, was a little worried about going there. However, my friends and I wanted to stay on the leeward side of the island so we ended up at Nancy's. It wasn't very crowded when we arrived around 8 pm so we were able to get seated quickly. Food: I ordered the hamburger steak ($10.25) and my friends both ordered the pork adobo omelet ($10.50/10.75?) (which they let me try). For the price, I'd say the food was good! We also tried a couple of their most popular drinks--the guri guri ($7.50) and the bob marley ($9.00). We weren't disappointed. They were really yummy! Nancy's has pupu specials after 9:30 pm and drink specials after 10 pm. We also ordered garlic fries off the pupu menu, which was tasty but kind of oily. Service: The wait staff brought out our waters promptly and refilled them periodically. Our server was also very friendly and patient as the menu is quite extensive. We needed additional time (twice!) because we couldn't decide what to order and he was very nice about it and would come by to check on us periodically. We ordered drinks and they came out pretty fast. Some reviews also said that the food took an hour or so to come out, but our orders came out relatively quickly. Then again, there were only three people in our group. We stayed past dinner service and were still hanging out when Nancy's became a "bar." The staff changed over so we had a new waitress. Another friend joined us and ordered the garlic fries. We waited for the fries and finally had to follow up with her because she had forgotten about them. Other than that, she came to check on us periodically to take additional drink orders. It became a little busier after 9/9:30 pm, so the water refills slowed down considerably and we had to flag down the wait staff for refills. Overall, I thought Nancy's was a pretty chill place to just hang out. It's no five star restaurant by any means, but served our eating/drinking/hanging out purpose. We would definitely come back!

The bf and I chose Nancy's kitchen because of the great food and relaxed atmosphere. We were not disappointed, we were kindly and promptly greeted when we walked in. Someone quickly served us water and our waitress was also quick, kind, and attentive. The food was tasty and well cooked and fairly priced. We had a great dinner date thanks to Nancy's!!

I have been here once before. a very long time ago. I tried the local style fried rice. I recommend staying away from this dish. It is literally fried rice (like at the mainland Chinese restaurants ) with no sauce on the rice, char siu, fishcake, Portuguese sausage, green onions and LOTS of added salt. I did not like it at all. I also ordered a Coke which I had to flag down a waitress to bring because our waiter was talking story with the other employees. Will not be going back again.

Thank you Nancys for the hair in our food. Check your food before eating it. Ours was cooked in the food. Check the picture for details. The one person in our party looked sick after seeing it, didnt eat his food, and was still told to pay for it.

We waited almost an hour for our breakfast, when the waiter brought our food to the table it was cold! We had to ask the waiter to go back and warm it up. My brother ordered oxtail and for the price he paid, it wasn't even worth it! 4 small little pieces of oxtail rip off! I'm never going back there again. I can't even rate this place if you ask me, zero.

Onion rings and breaded shrimp were way over cooked. The pork cutlet used to be awesome and well worth the trip and the money, not anymore. Looked like pork cutlet but when I took a closer look the meat was paper thin. My husband had the chicken cutlet and it too was paper thin.

The waiter was very good we had no problems with him, although the food was not that good. The seafood platter was ordered and the fish batter was undercooked. It was slimy under the batter and the steak and shrimp i ordered, med rare and it came almost well done, hard the meat was..the service is quick and the desert was excellent.

Went there for breakfast this morning at 11am. Had a white hair in my rice. I pulled it out thru my lips. Notified the waitress who took the plate away, and told her I would still pay for my meal ($8), but wanted you to know. Period. She then comes back to tell me, it wasn't a hair but part of my scrambled egg that fried like a string, and also added that no one in the kitchen had white hair, and left. WOW! now I'm pissed! I know what a hair is, that was no egg. How STUPID can this server be? Now I want my $8 back. But now I won't ever go back there, and yes I will veto any ideas of the gang eating there again. Ordered the Portuguese Sausage eggs and rice. The Portuguese Sausage was greasy and fatty. Not tasty at all. Not worth $8

Lots of free parking and the food is very good. I have liked everything i have ever gotten there and have never had a problem. Casual and friendly atmosphere is the norm. The local food is usually my go to meal.

I got the hamburger steak plate with onions and mash potatoes. - I asked for gravy on the mash potatoes also- they didn't do it. - Good thing bc the gravy is super dark and salty. - potatoes are dry and pasty ( like they used powdered mash potatoes) - Only had maybe 3 little rings of grilled onion and it was smothered in the salty gravy. :(

Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones that hasn't had a bad experience at Nancy's?! I've been here so many times with my family. It's one of our "go to" family spots. It kinda reminds me of a not so trendy Zippy's or a better Dot's. If you're looking to satisfy your local comfort food craving, Nancy's is the place. In my most recent visit, I ordered the small saimin with veggies. ...It definitely isn't Shige's saimin. I was warned by the server, but it was good for me. I hoped for more veggies, but I was overly satisfied with the amount of noodles in it. I felt like I needed to unzip my pants walking out of there because of all the noodles I ate! I tried the sizzling steak off of my Dad's plate. ...Sooo good! I was not expecting that at all. I love a steak that's red on the inside and has just the right amount of fatty pieces in it to satisfy the inner fat girl in me. I would definitely order that for myself during one of my next visits. My mom had the Terri Beef Sandwich. Yum. I'm not usually a meat eating kind of person, but my parents ordered the right things for my taste buds that night. There was so much flavor in that sandwich, I'm not even sure how to explain it. It was perfect. And the fries with it were nice and crispy. Not one soggy fry on the plate. I may have to order this AND the sizzling steak my next visit! And bring someone to share it with! ...or just east it all by myself. Ha! And of course, I had to have a Gnarly Bob Marley drink. All I have to say is, it's a must try! Just order it. If you like sweet stuff like me and don't like to taste alcohol in your drink, this is the drink for you. All in all, everything was great! Our server was very helpful in deciphering the mass menu they had. Food came out really quick and we enjoyed ourselves! I definitely will be visiting Nancy's again very, very soon!

The staff here is great, doesn't matter if you are in the dining room or at the bar, you'll be treated to smiling faces and happy employees all around. The areas are all kept clean and well lit giving you a welcome environment. For the type of restaurant Nancy's is, it is great at what it does. Local food, cooked very well and served up quite fast. Or if you favor the bar side they have talented bartenders waiting to serve you.

Definitely has become a favorite spot for me to get drinks and relax. Good pupus, pretty good service. Nice, mellow and comfortable. Always clean every time we go. No need to dress up, but you can if you want to : ) Plenty of parking, and DRAMA FREE lol love this place and you will too.

My husband and I LOVE THEIR OXTAIL SOUP. So much flavor and the oxtail meat is cooked soft/tender. I haven't really stayed for the late night hours but I know it gets pretty crowded. Just looking at their menu they served a variety of local dishes and they do have daily specials you just gotta ask them.

Love nancys ! I usually go at night in the bar area. It's like a neighborhood bar so most people know eachother. Atmosphere is great. The bartenders get to know you as well. Corey is great! Very personable person! He really gets to know you as a person. Pretty chill spot. Not crazy like town and it's close to home.

Bring a lot of friends so you can sample a little of everything! Between our party of 6 I got to try the squid luau/rice/poi (great start to the meal, the squid luau was a bit sweet, but pairing it with the poi harmoniously counteracts that), fried zucchini, a small portion of my sister's chicken long rice, and a few bites of my auntie's pork chops (good flavor but a little dry)--all on top of what I ordered. I've been feeling over-indulged after the holiday season, so I definitely wanted a side salad. You can add it onto any entree for $4 OR.. you could get the 2 entree combination plate for $17 and it comes with a side salad. I got the kalbi and fried shrimp. The kalbi was perfectly marinated and cooked so it practically melted in your mouth. It was hard to share! I don't have high expectations for fried seafood, so I was pleasantly surprised with the shrimp, which was a perfect companion to the beef. Long story short, no leftovers means full bellies and content customers. Only downsides: they were short staffed tonight (one waitress, one cook) and their happy hour is pretty much just 50 cents off a beer...

I use to love coming here when I lived in Mililani a few years ago and the other day I was in the area so I decided to stop by. The parking lot is fairly big, making it easy to find parking and there were only a few tables occupied in Nancy's so we got seated right away. Service: Our waitress was really nice and had great suggestions for my indecisive boyfriend. Although she did forget about the french fries we ordered, in the end it was okay because we were too full to even finish our entrees. Food: Meh. It's...meh. I had their adobo fried rice and there was a lot of adobo and a lot of vinegar....but the rice just seemed like regular white rice..? I also ordered their squid luau, which was pretty good. I think with some poi and lomi salmon it would've been a lot better. Ohhh but their chocolate pudding was really good! I guess I would come back here if I were in the area and wanted hawaiian food, but it's not worth coming all the way out of town for.

I love the Hawaiian Plate...but it's way too much food for me to eat by myself. But I try!! Now that my office is literally right up the road, coworkers and I can share a plate and add sides like pipikaula to this delectable masterpiece of lau lau, kalua pig, onion & salt, haupia and poi. Don't forget dessert!!

Since Nancy's is only a five minute walk from my house, I feel inclined to write a positive review for Waipio's only bar, but I just can't do that to you hard workin yelpers. I've gone here many times since my last review and I have nothing truly positive to say about the food. The Lau lau along with the rest of their Hawaiian food tastes bland, like one of those TV dinners you get at the supermarket...the sandwiches are dry, Ive tried the French Dip and it was more like a French Brick ( I know, those dont even exist). A bright spot at Nancys is their bar side which comes with 4 dart boards for all you throwers out there. Its always buzzin with good vibes and good drinks like their Bob Marley and BJ shots. The bar food is decent, but then again, its really hard to mess up Garlic Fries. If you get drunk enough, you can sing your heart out on their karaoke system for $1 a song. My one request I have for Nancy's is that they get a new TV for UH Sports! If i'm going to pay a high price for "meh" food then at least have a big screen that doesn't make me feel like I need to bring my 3D glasses to help adjust my eyes to the double image it produces. Conclusion: This place is good for big groups who are looking for a place to hang out/drink/throw darts/watch sports. But if you are craving for good food, try somewhere else in the Waipio Shopping Center.

It was my first time here and the service here was crappy! It took 20 minutes to be seated when the dining area was pretty empty. Probably only occupied by maybe about ten people, Max. When seated, they took forever to get our order (my mother & i) and the prices weren't worth the wait or food. I got the Hawaiian plate which consisted of lau lau , Kalua pig, slice of haupia, rice , and lomi salmon. My mother had gotten fried shrimp with fries. Our order didn't come until an hour later. The staff was just standing around talking story while I'm here wondering where my food is. When I did get it, I wasn't interested in eating anymore. Really...I'd say the food was mediocre. The waitress apologized for the delay and said she'd give free desserts. She gave a half filled cup of watery jello & a half filled cup of chocolate pudding. I'd say the cups were the size of like the sauce they give you for chicken katsu at L&L. I don't recommend this place at all.

Took forever and a day to get kalua pork anchors which 1. Didn't have any pork in it and 2. Was cold...and 3. Looked like my 6 ur old twins made it with bagged cold chips and microwaved cheese sauce and jarred picante sauce...we left it was horrible! Maybe if you're drunk and its 2 am it would be okay but that's just about it

Used to come here every few months but haven't been here in a couple of years. Nice to see that they are still doing well. I ordered my favorite, the pork chops, and was not disappointed, although it took awhile to arrive. My daughter got the beef tomato and enjoyed that as well. Nancy's is located in the Waipio shopping center where there is plenty of free parking. Great casual local place with good air conditioning!

I've had the craving for some kalua pig and lomi salmon. My boyfriend's dad chose this place for dinner in Waipio. I've never heard of this place before. Usually you'd have to wait for someone to seat you, but not us. Walked to the bar area and sat ourselves. Interior of the place isn't anything special. It took a while before someone came by with menus and later to take our orders and give us water. I thought about ordering their "Hawaiian Plate" but I didn't want everything that was on it. Just ordered the lomi salmon, kalua pig and two scoops of rice. One scoop wouldn't have been enough. Along with that, we ordered ahi poke, fringes (sp?) --it has both onion rings and fries and boyfriend ordered the kalua nachos. As our order came out, we started to realize how much food we had ordered. It was a lot. Their kalua pig was so good and so filling that once I got home I went straight to sleep. Didn't like their ahi poke, and I didn't try the nachos but boyfriend liked it. As we were eating though, two dogs, NOT ONE, TWO. Came from the kitchen area. Were they dinner? (I hope not) or someone's pet? I won't know. I just know you wouldn't want to have dog hair in your food!!! --I would have given a four star if it wasn't for this. They have darts and a big iPod looking thing on their wall.

Worst service ever!!!!! We were sitting at a table for nearly 20 minutes without any service. No menus. No water. Nothing!! Seemed like the servers were trying to avoid us like the plague. We had to ask three different employees if we could order, and they kept telling us that they would get our server. I only saw one miserable looking waitress serving a large table who didn't bother to help us. I overheard this waitress (who's name I found out later was Jessica) giving attitude to other employees refusing to serve our table for whatever reason. Apparently, since our friends went to the bar earlier and was served by one of the bar waitresses, she didn't want to take our table. By the time another waitress came around to us, she told us it was too late to order anything from the dinner menu. It was too late to order because we were waiting for over 30 min to get anyone's attention!! I don't even write yelp reviews, but felt inclined to warn everyone about the shitty service this place has. The owner needs to hire new staff because they all seem to hate each other there, and that animosity among them is really affecting the way this business is run. Never going there again!!!

Most comments seem to focus on evenings at the bar. This review is pertaining to service during breakfast or lunch time. We went to eat here for Mother's Day. It wasn't as busy as I thought it'd be (tables were available and we didn't have to wait to be seated). The food was good, but the service was very bad. Our order was taken, any questions that we asked, it was answered with one-worded answers and was not offered any other selection if they didn't have what we were looking for (which we found a similar item on the same page). Water was not re-filled and they didn't bring me sugar when asked. No one came by to check if we needed anything or if the food was ok. And none of the workers had a smile on their face. We weren't sure if they brought the bill to us or if we had to go up and pay. So we were sitting at the table until we spotted someone to ask. What a Mothers Day service :)

I hope the owner see reads this cause they should. I go here almost every week only because it's so convenient to watch UH football because it's very close to where I live. But they really need to improve the menu big time! How can they own/run a place when the food is so bad? Don't they have any pride in their business? They should hire Gordon Ramsey to revamp it cause they need serious updating. Everything is super expensive for the quality of the food you get! $3.50 for a side order of rice?! The workers are lacking too. There's this one waitress who is always in the restaurant who is by herself all the time but they got an enormous amount of busboys working the same time. The waitress should not be working in any capacity in the service establishment cause she is slow and she never ever smiles! She looks so solemn and sour that she should just quit! Intially she came to our table and asked if we were ready and we said not yet. She never came back! We had to ask one of the busboys to say we were ready to order and that was 45 minutes later! The stuff I tried so far..... Buffalo wings - bad! very bad! Chicken cutlet - not bad! calamari - bad! very bad! steak - ok sometimes, others dried out poke - previously frozen kine Teriyaki beef - this was ono and the best thing I ate here. desert, ice cream pie - expensive and junk Honey chicken - bad and salty! wing dings -- not bad! adobo omelet - worst adobo I ever tried! alii nachos - that was pretty good!

This is a good place where local people gather. The service is good and the food is not bad. I ordered off the senior menu. I had the Chicken Yakitori. The price was very reasonable for this dish. Our waitress was very friendly. And I always appreciate good service...

This is a review for the bar side only. I've never eaten at the restaurant and haven't ordered any other food besides pupus that you'd share between friends out for a few beers. There's a few good things about this place. One of them is the location. It's in a prime spot. It also has a very nice bar and clean looking interior. Finally, parking is never a problem. That's about where it ends though and none of those things is enough to save Nancy's from being anything other than a one star review. The bar food is worse than most bars with small portions and the service is absolutely terrible. Even when the place is empty and you're sitting at the bar in front of the bar tender, it's very difficult to get another drink. This place is just not my crowd and not my scene. An absolute waste of a prime location for a sports bar due to its terrible service. It could definitely use a change in direction and a change in management. For now it's just wasted potential.

My go to spot for a fun night! Great prices and great fun! First of all the staff here is AWESOME Renee and Heather is the coolest bartenders! They always come around to see if you're ok. Not like some other places where the bartenders just stand around and talk stories. Second the food here is great! The pupu menu is good. I'd recommend the kalua pig nachos! Also the saimin there is amazing! Also need to ask the "specials" on the drinks there. Every night Nancy's had a special on drinks. Finally id like to say the atmosphere there is so friendly! Every worker there makes u feel like your at home! I like how everyone there has a smile at all times. So if u guys are on the Westside. I'd suggest u guys check it out!

Bar comments. Beer us cold. Service is poor. Food is barely..meh. we sat at the bar. Waited 5 minutes for someone to come by. No menu. 5 more mins for DIRTY menu and drink order. 10 minutes for drink. Another 10 for food. Calamari aweful. Wings barely meh. No napkins no plates. Waitress did not come by after food delivered. We got thru 75% of the food to get lemons plates and napkins. It was not busy. Waitress was cute but not enough to compensate for poor service food dirty menu etc. Because it was so bad I need to mention again SLOOOW service poor service and food was barely meh. It also smelled like HEAVY windex was used to wipe the table. People have bad days but this is the 4 time at the bar and nothing changed much.

Nancy's Kitchen is a great spot to go to chill and dress down "just a lil" compared to the town bars and such. A lot of the west-siders go here so you'll see a lot of familiar faces all the time. The food is affordable, but I don't think it has much "quality." I think they serve more Hawaiian food... but when I say much "quality".... i'm saying it's super fatty ya know, the whole fast food ordeal. A lot of my friends say the drink prices are expensive, but they are girls lol. We think EVERYTHING is expensive when it comes to drinks. I don't know though... I swear I saw like $5-$6 beers. So I'd say that's pretty average. This isn't really my scene, I probably hit it up if that's where the boys decide to go and I'm not all about dressing up that night. Hmm I guess I need to become a "regular" to really feel the "nancys kitchen" demand. It does remind me of those "regular" bars you see on tv, like some main bar that everyone goes to to hang out... Most say it caters to the younger crowd (for a bar on this side) 20's, early 30's... but you'll see a good mix. It's not your fancy shmancy but it's a really cool place to "beat the stress" and unwind. They also have a darts and .... oooh KARAOKE!!!!... it's awesome cuz the entire facility will hear your belted tunes! oh & SCORE... parking is FREE and plentiful.

The food is getting worse every year there in business. I had to reverse my food charged on my Visa card cause they don't care if you complain about bad food quality. Very bad attitude. Food prices are expensive and not worth it. Stay away from this place. Nancy should go back to culinary school to learn how to cook.

Being from waipio it is definitely my choice for a bar close to home. I've became a regular at this bar, the bartenders are cool and the prices are decent. They also have karaoke for a $1 a song and dart live boards and leagues every Tuesday.

DISCLAIMER: If I could rate a restaunt solely based o the food this place would get a 3-4 star easily. If the hiring manager were to do a massive lay offs and hire all new employees with proper etiquette, manners, and a broader sense of customer service this place would thrive. The staff just brings down the professional bar that customer service employees are supposed to keep high. For one, my server was seen exactly three times. Once to take my order and another to put the tood down, which by the way was a task her could not complete on his own (someone else brought our remaining dishes) and last to tell me how much I owe. He also needed to be reminded MULTIPLE times to bring back a straw. Such a simple task to have to be reminded of on different occasions. Had it been busy, I'd be more understanding. But it wasn't. It was actually pretty slow considering it was a Friday night. But no, oue waiter had better things to do. Like prance around frolicking with hia co worker, who turned out to be his gf. He even had the time to walk her outside to give her a goodbye kiss while my wife and I choked on our food because our waters had not been refilled. But its okay, as long as he was able to twll his gf bye. Asshole. I guess he did do something right though.... he didn't tell me his name. If it were otherwise you can beleive I'd have included it. Oh, and lastly I was born and raised in hawaii so I know all about being "moke" but please STOP IT. If I were to record you and make you listen to how STUPID you sound I'm pretty sure you'd want to slap yourself. "SHOOTS" and "kk" are not valid responses when being told something. Staying silent would be more acceptable.

Thinking about breakfast? Stay away from here!!! My husband and I try to choose a different place to dine for Sunday breakfast dates. Bad choice this week. Instead of NFL Football on Sunday, they have Fox News on the TVs with full, loud, disturbing audio. I don't appreciate hearing the analysis of Obama's apology for the Obamacare website woes during a date. Would you? I ordered the fried rice omelet. It was pretty much just white rice thrown in a pan with ham, Portuguese sausage, and kamaboko. Not seasoned at all. I couldn't stand it until I added shoyu and pepper myself. And even then, it still wasn't good. The egg wasn't even fully cooked, I peeled it off and didn't eat it at all. My husband had the hungry man breakfast which tasted like it was cooked on a dirty pan, which is weird because we were the first on only customer during this time. While we ate our crappy food, our server and another woman was sitting in a booth watching their Fox News and chit chatting in their foreign language... C'mon people! Sunday morning... FOX SPORTS!!!! And it's rude to speak in another tongue in front of your customers. Near the end of this meal, where we are now disgusted by the food, environment, and service and think it can't get any worse, they start vacuuming!! Yes, vacuuming! WTF?! Hello! You have diners in your restaurant! Would you start vacuuming your home when you have visitors for a meal? Nothing about this place was good. There's a reason why there was no wait for Sunday breakfast and why no one entered the restaurant the entire time we were there... This place sucks!! My one star rating was not earned; Yelp doesn't allow me to rate any lower than that. I would never recommend this place to anyone; and I will never return. If you are in this area and want breakfast, stop at Big City Diner. You would even have a better meal at the fast food joints. Nancy's Kitchen is horrible!!!

We're here for breakfast. Food was decent. My French toast didn't seem that they soak it and my eggs were not cook right. Saimin was good. Food is not bad at all though they could be better at customer service. Nothing was really asked or offered. One question and you get one answer. Place looks gloomy and dark so I think it'll help if the employees are more lively and interact with the customer more. Need better lighting. They're like robots. Lol

Not gonna lie, this place is awesome. Amazing food and no matter what, I'll go back. But the employees who work during bar hours are only nice to those whom they want to be nice to. They tend to ignore other customers and the get all pissy when the songs they want to hear don't get played. Not to mention they skip songs that are already paid for.......

Kalua pig nachos are horrible. Drenched in oil and overly salty. The menu says to "trust them" on that dish....DONT

The food is killa. But while i was at the bar i noticed that songa that i had paid for on the jukebox kept being skipped so certain people can hear their own music. I feel thats bullshit because my friends and i pay money to hear music as well. Its disrespectful to skip someone else's music who has paid to hear it. You guys need to fix this problem or reviews will keep getting worse

I've lived in Waipio all my life and I've been to Nancy's about four times. That's not a bad thing, but I guess I'm a faux townie. Nancy's Kitchen is located in the Gentry Waipio Shopping Center. A lot of townies know where Costco is. Nancy's is not located in the same place! It's at the older shopping center, where Foodland is, closer to the Central Oahu Regional Park. My friends and I came on a Friday night this most recent time for dinner and drinks. The have a variety of local food choices, and my friend said that this place reminds him of a Denny's with local food. I ordered the fried chicken, and it was just alright. Overall my friends said the food was just alright, but hey, we were primarily there to drink. Prices aren't bad either. They had pitchers of Blue Moon on special for $15. They also had $5 shot specials. A lot of people who live on that side of the island typically come here. There's also a security guard there, just in case any funny business happens, if you know what I mean.
