Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

This food takes me back. Moved away from hawaii for 10 years. All these new restaurants, but I prefer old school.

been coming here since I was a little kid since my mom loved to eat "Chinese food". This review was for my family's visit a few days ago. The service that we got was splendid from the guy waiter/"bus boy". But there was this lady that gave us attitude and seemed like she didn't want to be there, or even for us to be there. Our food was alright. The seafood combination was perfect as usual. Love the babycorn!! But the noodles that we ordered was way too hard, I couldn't get myself to eat it. The fried rice was okay. Nothing special, just a little bit on the salty side.

On Saturday, I had reserved three round tables for my father's 60th birthday. We had a party of thirty people. Our deposit receipt had three round tables written on it. To my surprise, we were sandwiched into booths at the end of the restaurant. At this end of the restaurant, there is no air conditioning. The outside temperature was 90 but inside the restaurant was 96 degrees. We were told by the manager that another party needed all of the round tables so our tables were given to them, even though, we made our reservations prior to their reservations. We had to deal with the cramped seating arrangements, sweltering heat and bugs crawling on our feet. A beauty day of celebration was ruined by owners who only care for the "buck" and not customer satisfaction. Their word means nothing. Money talks, everything else walks.

Came here for my dads birthday since yelp revuews was so awesome lookinh but ugh so disapointing Blah didn't care for there food and the service sucked and the added $16 tip to the bill which I was confused by because they didn't check on us since we walked in and we never got refills on our water plus we had to ask for everything not once did anyone check to see if everything was fine so all in all I wish we never ate there

Disgusting in every way possible! Don't even know how to make egg drop soup properly. This place is horrible!

what: chinese restaurant located in waipahu : ) ! something good: i think the food is pretty authentic here, however, i'm no expert in the field of chinese food! we had a bunch of different items and i must say my favorite was the cake noodles! they were so yummy and perfectly cooked : ) if i come back here i will definitely have that again! the price point here is really good, each plate is really reasonable so you can really order a variety of things and share family style! something not so good: the restaurant could definitely use a little face-lift : ) something to try: cake noodle & beef broccoli

So decided to try this place as was craving some Chinese food. First off...this is in what some would consider a "rough" section of Waipahu. Personally I've never had any problems anywhere but maybe you should drop by for a lunch instead of dinner if that kind of thing worries you. Anyway this place is old. How old? I think most of the decor and plates are older than me...and I was born in the 70's! But then again it's all serviceable, just don't expect anything fancy or even nice. The one waitress that "greeted" us seemed fairly disinterested and I think she's been there since the original decor as well. I suppose that makes it a positive since they match? Hmm I'll leave that up to you to decide. At the time there were actually a decent amount of people eating for one server so it took a little while to bring over our water and hot tea but overall the speed of service was fine once you took into account her situation. OK now the important part...food! So we ordered two dishes, both were listed as specials on the front of the store. Oyster sauce chicken over cake noodle and Cold ginger chicken, beef broccoli with white rice. Both dishes were under $6.50 and I would confer them to be a real bargain. Oyster sauce chicken- the chicken is fried until the skin is nice and crispy, then chopped into several nice chunks and placed on a bed of cake noodles. Those cake noodles are done perfectly as well and are nice thick chunks...nice and crispy on the outside and not pressed too hard like most places do. The sauce is standard fare and does the job nicely. This dish is a winner, even if it wasn't so cheap and generous in portion. I had the cold ginger and beef broccoli combo. Ginger chicken was really good, what I liked about it was that the ginger topping was actually pretty salty but also very tasty. I just had to use less of it since it was so salty. The beef broccoli was just OK. The broccoli didn't look super fresh and bright green but also wasn't mushy. The beef in the dish was really tender and had great flavor. The major downside is that a few pieces were just warm instead of hot. That kind of thing bothers me. Location/decor: 2 stars- its a tired well worn place. Service: 3 stars- the lady did her job. Cleanliness: 2 stars- nothing wrong with the plates, table, utensils but the overall feel is that its lacking. Maybe unfair as its old and you can't polish a turd. Food: 4 stars- that cake noodle was awesome! Value: 5 stars- at least for the specials. Other items on the menu seemed to be about average.

I don't know how we all ended up here, but we did.... I blame my Aunt. Apparently this was my grannie's favorite Chinese restaurant. So my aunt decided to have the family get together here. Also she had her wedding reception here. I hope it was nicer in the 70's cause it's a total dive now. Food - 2 stars - all the food tastes the same Decor - 1 star - seen WAY better days Service - 2 star - didn't even bring us all enough water. But I give it 2 stars overall because it was my grannie's favorite

If you're looking for cheap eats, this place is pretty good. I was pretty hesitant at first, I'm not a fan of Chinese Fast Food. But this place provides a satisfying meal. The food is pretty tasty, I highly recommend the Walnut Shrimp and Salt & Pepper Pork Chops. We ordered a hot plate and although it sizzles for the first fifteen seconds, food was still cold. I was also disappointed in the taste, the Mongolian beef is a dud. It was drenched in a hoisin, ketchup like gravy. Five pieces of beef and a mountain of vegetables. The only problem I have is the service and cleanliness. Food is high in sodium, the water refills are a tad slow. I judge a restaurant's cleanliness on the state of their restrooms and I don't think I'll be back for a bit. If you're excepting authentic five star Chinese cuisine, head down to Chinatown. Overall, if you're looking for a meal at a reasonable price, this is the place.

This has been our family's celebration spot when the group was larger than my immediate foursome. Since I grew up with this stuff, it's what I love and compare to. I love their crispy gau gee. It's the perfect size...not too small and not too big...and perfectly brown. I always feel like those white ones at other places are not "real". Their cake noodle is a must-do for me. Ginger Chicken...always decent pieces with actual meat on them. I rarely get to come here to eat, but always have them in mind when in need of a potluck dish...and they're always busy!

Patronized Far Eastern For take out lunch today. Got cold ginger chicken & beef broccoli lunch special and a lunch plate. Our order was ready within 10 minutes. ONO!!!
(4)Kathleen B.
Other than Panda Express, this is the only place I will ever eat Chinese food from!!!!! You gotta try their pan fried shrimp/squid as well as their seafood combo. And don't forget their fried rice and vegetable soup! The restaurant doesn't look as attractive inside or out but the food makes up for it!
(5)Bridget M.
This by far is our famines fave Chinese restaurant. The food is always consistent and it is always served fast and hot. The chow fun with black bean sauce is Ono! Also the cake noodle with minute chicken. They also let you substitute items when ordering the dinner plates and stuff!

We usually do to-go for this place, but you can definitely get a taste of their overall service based on how they act at the register... FOOD: Gotta love their calamari! It's fried, and then sauteed with a mix of paprika and other spices, and garlic and green onions. Super grinds. This is my mom's fave. Kinda expensive ($7.95 + tax), but is a must try. Can eat as a finger food, or with hot rice. Yum! Oyster chicken cake noodle is also a nother family favorite. $5.95 + tax for a plate lunch size. Not bad if you wanna share this with family! SERVICE: They are relatively nice if you don't ask questions. I asked for a receipt and they gave me stink eye because they had to write out a receipt on their notepad... They take credit cards, but don't print out receipts... Confusingly low-tech. Overall it's good. Based on the restaurant, I wouldn't want to dine in and eat. However, the food is pretty good and close by us. So if you're in the neighborhood and need to pick up food, go check them out.

Looking back at the year, I reminisce on all of my culinary experiences, good and bad. Even months after, I cannot forget what happened to me here. We went back to this spot because despite the rough locale, I had fond memories of eating here when I was a kid. We were greeted somewhat coldly, but I didn't think twice about it. We sat in our booth and I look to the left of where we sat, there lie 2 dead cockroaches laying flat on their backs like overturned turtles. After the waitress took our order, I noticed she looked down and saw these two cockroaches. She then reached into her pocket for a napkin and picked them up. Mind you, I think she was doing it discreetly, but I saw it all. I've never lost my appetite so fast.

The food was absolutely delicious. I was thoroughly satisfied. I had the Pork & Watercress soup, Yang Chow fried rice, and crispy gau gee. Yum yum yum! I believe this is my comfort food cause I was so happy and content! The price was very reasonable too.

I've been going to this place since I was in middle school. This isn't my favorite Chinese restaurant, but I'll eat here. Some of my favorite thing is the salt and pepper shrimp! There are other things I like too (but I will spare myself the embarassment by trying to spell them out LOL).

#100/365 Ive been meaning to come here and I finally got my chance when my friend brought me here for some lunch. We arrived around 1230 and the place was fairly empty with a few other tables with diners and a couple other people doing take-out. My friend has been here many times so he already knew what to order. He ordered a bit too much but I guess those are his usual's when hes with his friends. Anyway, he got the lemon chicken, fried rice, i think a house noodle?, and a sweet and sour beef?. Anyway everything was pretty good and it was cheap because for all of that it was only $21! Overall, I'd come here again if i'm craving for some tasty chinese food.

i have been eating here for years. My mom used to take us here when I was still in elementary school as a treat so it's been well over 20. My favorite is the pan fried squid. It's labeled hot n spicy but it's not super spicy. It's always super tender, well seasoned, and crispy. The pan fried salt and pepper shrimp is super ono too. Shell on but it's fried so crispy you can eat it with the shell on. The fried rice can be a little salty sometimes but very flavorful. We are a family of four but always order dinner for 3 because its way more food than we can eat. The Honey walnut shrimp is $12 and I didn't care for it. The shrimp had a weird taste to it. I prefer Kunia Chinese restaurant or Ewa Beach Chinese restaurants one over this. The egg rolls were ok. Very very oily and not as full as I would have expected. It looked a little skimpy as far as the filling goes. The scallop soup was ok. I didn't notice any scallops so it just tasted like a plain egg drop soup. We paid $62 for dinner last night. That was for the dinner for 3 plus an order of honey walnut shrimp and pan fried squid. We took home 3 boxes of leftovers. So we had enough food to feed us one more meal the next day. The food is good. The service is good and the wait time for the dishes to come out is very minimal. I will continue to come here but mostly for the pan fried squid and shrimp. Oh, and it's a good place to have small parties. The dining area is pretty big.

Grew up eating here! I love lunch plate A LOL! $7.95 cant go wrong with the price. Always had good service except for last night 01-04-15 at about 6:45 p.m. We sat, were served our water and tea but shortly thereafter some friends of the wait staff came in. The young waitress went directly to her friends table and took their orders first. Her attitude was horrible as she made it seem we were a bother but I shouldn't feel special because she treated all the other tables the same way. Our food was received in a timely manner but she never came back to ask if we needed anything else and when I asked for anything she wasnt happy about it. AND when her friends left, a table of 4.....they never went up to pay nor did I see money left on the table. I hope their management reads this or hope they appear on Mystery Diners because I would not want this place closing down for inappropriate conduct like this. 5 stars only cause I love their food! The young waitress can and should take a hike!

I can't believe I'm the first person to write a review of this place. Driving by in the Waipahu area, we noticed a few of these dive Chinese places. We met our distant relatives here for lunch as they said it's known for won ton min. Not being a fan of won ton min, I again had a hankering for oxtail soup for the 3rd time in one week! It was pretty good. The food overall, looks good. However, I was too full to try anything else. This place has a homey touch to it like you're eating at your Auntie's place. The place seems like a popular place with the locals and older set. If I happen to be in the Waipahu area again, I would check it out again.

2 thumbs up! Love it here....onolicious chinese food to soothe my hunger!
(5)Shantel V.
1970's prices!!! Love it here. Seriously, this place has great prices! i can feed a family of 6 for just a little over $30. with some to spare for lunch the next day. We found this place on accident. We were originally heading to another Chinese restaurant, but to our surprise...it was closed. So we were just driving until we hit the next Chinese establishment. I always order the same thing so i can only tell you about those things: Oyster Chicken w/ cake noodle - cake noodle is crispy just how i like it! and when you order it to go they keep it separate from the sauce so it doesnt get soggy in transit Egg fuyong - like any other egg fuyong, but none the less...good shrimp canton - not too oily like other places, and i like the pieces small and its perfect sized here crispy gau gee min - again, not too oily, and not too big so you can enjoy one without ruining your appetite for the main course beef broccoli - nice and soft, the broccoli literally melts in your mouth.. i haven't dined in so i cant tell you much about their service, but when i do call i dont get a grouchy chinese lady taking my order. :)

This place has been here forever, and the food is still really good. Some of the best shrimp i have ever eaten. It isnt the classiest place, but the food was great, prices were good and the service was good.

Good Eats.. Cheap food.. Not too salty but just right!..

Food is decent and cheap. Had a bad experience with our waitress. Long story short, I didn't realize my order came with two choice of meat until after i received my food. So i assumed that my plate only came with one choice. so i told the waitress that I'd like to order sweet n sour spare ribs as my second choice and she tells me that she doubled up my order on the Chinese sausage, "you weren't cheated" exact words. I then told her that i didn't know my order had 2 choices and had I known I would of ordered sweet n sour spare ribs. Then the Waitress tells me that its not her job to tell me what my order comes with because I'm suppose to read the menu myself and know. So I told her well I didn't finish my sausages can you take them back and bring some sweet and sour spare ribs and she said OK annoyingly. So she picks up my sausages with her bare hands!!! And I'm like....EW!!! You're putting your hands in my plate!!! By the end of THAT conversation I ended up with a new plate of fried rice, the leftover Chinese sausage she didn't touch and the broccoli that was from the old plate. My appetite was gone by that time =|

This Is the Best place to get Chinese/ Cantonese food on the island! I've been going here for 20 years and it is worth the drive!!

This reveiw is based on the food and service. Our family would always have my grandparents birthday dinner here and it brings back alot of funny childhood memories. Therefore, I was looking forward to coming here for sunday dinner yesterday. First off as our not-friendly waiter seated us, our table was not set, nor cleaned up from the previous customers. It took her about 5 minutes to finally wipe our table, then after another 5 minutes she finally gave us the menu. Ofcourse in my mind im thinking, "*bleep whats up your ass today?"...TEN minutes go by and we get water with no ice and is fairly cold. A couple minutes after that she took our order. She did not seem happy that we orderd so much, her facial expression was quite obvious. The food took about 15 minutes and it was oh sooo good! Packed with flavor and at a cheap price. But our table wasnt even set with the proper utensils or plates yet!! By that time we were starving and mad at how unorganized she was! When she passed by i pleasantly asked if we could get some plates and forks and she replied in a mono tone voice i'll be there. Another wasted ten minutes go by, and my daughter is hungry and fussy. And when shes fussy, so am I. Hungry and irratated I walked to where she was standing looking at the menu and told her if she was able to bring plates and forks to our table before they close. I got them right away after that. Thank god because my daughter would be screaming bloody murder by then and i'd probably be dead of starvation!! Anyways, the food was so yummy! Everything had so much flavor. We got beef brocoli over cake noodle which was absolutely delish! The cake noodle wasn't overcooked, it still had a crunch to it and was somewhat soft on the inside. We had roast duck which was also really crisp and tasty. We orderd shrimp canton which I was a bit skeptical about eating because I wasnt sure if it would be dripping with oil like other places, which to my surprise, it wasnt oily at all! And the crispy gau gee mein was like any other crispy gau gee mein, good. Overall I love the food here and their prices. Portions are somewhat big and their prices are cheap for what they offer. The service aint all that great, so dont expect much outta them. You might wanna bring your own pupus waiting on the waiters lol. Or just order take out. But I'll be paying this place another visit when im in this part of Waipahu, but i'll just take my food to go.
(4)Kalani H.
Been eatting here all my life and still to me the best Chinese food on the island only down fall you got ask for refill your drink.
(4)Gio P.
All the food has tons of MSG. My family ordered dinner #1, but I didn't want any food from that dinner, so I asked my mom I wanted sweet and sour pork, so she asked the waiter to subtitute it with the shrimp canton, so the women did and after that the woman said, "you happy now yea" with a smirked on her face, seriously! With attitude. When we got all our food, i was dissapointed, the sweet and sour pork was soggy, the noodles was soggy, the roast duck was rubbery, the broccoli in beef and broccoli was bitter-_- I didnt enjoy it! When the women gave me water, she tipped it by my plate, and she didnt even say anything or a sorry? I stay by the table where you can see the kitchen, when I saw it, I was disgusted, the grills were black, the walls are black too, and they left food uncovered for a long time, wow! Last thing, the atmosphere was dead, it was so boring, it made me want to get out. I wouldn't go back here again ever!
