Really really great food. I love their short rib and shrimp combo. Sub for fried rice! Totally worth it.

Not a real Chinese restaurant. I think the employees here are new in the business so they weren't too geared for service. Better to do take out than eating in. Would not eat here again.

The seemingly "hole in the wall" type place hides deliciously prepared Chinese and classical Hawaiian food. I ordered BBQ short ribs, my daughter ordered two kinds of chicken (mochiko fried and otherwise), my son-in-law ate a BBQ mixed plate of three different meats (teriyaki beef, BBQ chicken and BBQ short ribs) which was excellent. We all decided the mochiko fried chicken was the best! I personally think this macaroni salad was the creamiest on the island.

This restaurant was OK but I've had better. The Hawaiian take on Chinese two scoops of white rice and macaroni salad , no veggies and soo many carbs is why I wont be back.

Dined in, water tasted like soap. One of the people that worked there was trying to kill a fly with his bare hands. Never dining in again. There were two flies chilling by the window probably nesting where we were sitting. The people that work there have staring problems, which makes it an uncomfortable environment to eat in. The prices are cheap, and the mochiko chicken is pretty good. They need to take cleanliness seriously because it's really unsanitary in there.

Kings is awesome. Good food, cheap prices. Yes, the service isn't THE BEST, but usually the tourists are the only ones complaining about that. Locals know the staff is straight from China to learn how to work in America and to practice English. This is the place to go for cheap, good-fast local food. Honey walnut shrimp, a cakes and breakfast specials are my favorites!!!

I'd give it zero stars, if there was an option. I want to start that the staff were not friendly when I ordered my food. Cashier not very helpful, along w/ cook looked mad after ordered my food. I ordered the Seafood special, rice, mac salad, fried fish, shrimp, & BBQ chicken $9.99.Portion looked big until I noticed a lot of shredded cabbage underneath of it all. I was also charged $1 extra to sub wht. rice, for brown rice. Plate & glass smelt like dish washing soap. I did not bother to finish my plate. I will not eat here again.

The service is not friendly. They don't seem to really want to help you. They charged me extra for sauce. The meat quality went down. The short ribs on the bbq platter was poor quality of meat and hard to chew with lots of fat. I used to like this place but not anymore for the hawaiian BBQ.

I really like the food here! Their combo fried rice is delicious and moist, just the way I like it!! Price is reasonable as well. Probably the best fried rice on Maui. (for me of course) Great part is whenever we visit my husband's friend we can eat here since its literally down the street!

They have a $2.99 breakfast that is tasty and filling. I got 2eggs, 2scoops rice and 5 strips of bacon for $2.99 plus tax which is a steal! I had the choice of Portuguese sausage, mochiko chicken, lup chong, spam, pork link or Vienna sausage instead of bacon too. Definitely caters to the local palate. Friendly staff will smile and are responsive and quick. Looks like they have a good selection of Chinese food and plate lunches under $10 as well.

Oh King's how I love thee! I was staying at the Noble Travel Hotel right across the street...for business. Open til 10 P, i think. They start getting antsy for you to place your order by 930. All I wanted at the end of an extremely long day was a delicious hot meal..and fast. If I called them for a take-out order, it would literally be ready for me as soon as I walked across the street. And there was a lot of food. I stuck to Kalua pork/pig, because that is my weakness. In heaven, I will die, and that's all that will be available. King's BBQ food. So good. I actually miss it. The sit down service is a bit slower..and there are flies in the front..take-out is the way to go. As for their customer service, yeah, that one girl is there and she doesn't smile a lot, but maybe she does that only to strangers. And it's not in a mean way, the more she saw me come in, the nicer she got. I'm sensitive to people and how they interact with me, and I didn't catch that snobby mean vibe (see my review of Mana Foods beauty section..now that is another thing). There is a really nice boy who works the register and he even opened the door for me entering and exiting! How nice. King's is great and it's cheap. I have yet to find an O'ahu equivalent that serves up choooke delicious, hot, and local food.. ::wipes drool off keyboard::

The food sucked, the service sucked, and they gave my friend a vitamin water that was a year past it's expiration date. Don't go to king's. One star is highballing.

This used to be a favorite place to go, but we haven't gone for a while because of the inconsistency in taste. For the price, you could never go wrong, but it seems after they opened the kihei restaurant, the taste of the food changed. Maybe the cook moved to the other place, not sure. We used to love the cake noodles, but it started getting saltier each time and the noodles seemed overcooked, sometimes burnt, along with the sauce. One of the cooks used to also come outside and sit by the register and just stare at us as we ate. It got awkward. There was also always different servers, so when you asked to special order something that you ate last week, it became a problem. Wish they would be more consistent, and we'd be back all the time. Good for the prices, prices though.

I wish i could have tried this place but when i walked into a empty restaurant and the girl working the counter didn't acknowledge me. My Pet peeve! After what seemed to be an eternity I asked her a question, " does the bbq chicken come with Rice?" she stuck her finger in the air at me. Oh I am sorry is my question disturbing your reading? No thank you! I walked out. If the staff cant be bothered to issue a hello, aloha or hi i will be right with you then i cant give you my business.

This is a breakfast review. We found this little local treasure 3 years ago. We have a place like this in Santa Cruz where only the locals go to. Every time we are in town, we go by for breakfast once or twice. the Fairmont its not. Nor is this a Denny's. This is a local beach-town, most likely family-owned Asian food diner. This week we saw more locals there than in the past. My favorite is the Loco Moco. My wife loves their eggs with spam. The kids ordered the 3.99 specials. Again nothing fancy - but the food was local, good fare. The eggs were so fresh! You can't buy eggs that fresh in the store. If you want to pay 10-12 bucks for your breakfast - don't go here. If you want kind-service, good basic breakfast food, a local flare, go here. If you want the tourist experience, don't swing by, it will never make sense to you. If you want to sit, fit in as a local for an hour and watch life go by, give it a try.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
