Champagne brunch here is a must. I think I've discovered a new thing i have to do on Sundays when I'm on the island. Great food, absolutely gorgeous view. Can't go wrong.

Brunch buffet (10am-1pm) review Pretty solid spread overall. Enough choices to get uncomfortably full and still have things you hadn't yet tried. No complaints on service, and price at $50 seemed fair. Decent amount of Bfast items (the usual proteins, toast bagels etc. omelet station) plus some pretty decent lunch items like mushroom penne, potatoes au gratin, some white fish, etc. sushi/sashimi element was weak but as expected. Desserts were well done with a subdae bar, gourmet donuts & malasadas, the requisite tropical fruits, and tiramisu as the highlight for myself. Champagne was good with frequent enough refills, and live Hawaiian music a nice touch. Side note: Did feel a little like an anglo bourgeois dbag noticing that clientele was all old white people, and staff were all old brown people. All in all a worthwhile endeavor and satisfying maui buffet. Have a feeling the extra $ is well worth it if you're looking for a more upscale version of maui beach hotel / Waikapu golf course buffets.

Ate here twice while staying at the Grand Wailea - the only real benefit of this place is that it's convenient for hotel guests. We had a group of 6 and got easily seated both times. First we did the regular brunch buffet which was overpriced at $31 per person but the food was pretty good and the normal menu would have cost something similar with an entree and a drink. The second visit for the Sunday brunch was pretty disappointing. At $50 per person we got a similar spread but without a lot of the yummy breakfast items and with a lot of weird savory dishes that looked like they had been sitting around for hours. So I had an egg, an English muffin, bacon and some fruit plus champagne for $50... Ugh. Not worth it!!!

$6.50 for a piece of breakfast toast... Not wanting to go buffet style as I just wanted a basic, smallish breakfast, I ordered an a la carte small breakfast (2 bland chicken sausages, 1 egg, 2 miniature barely edible pancakes) - perfect amount of food but I wanted some toast to eat with my over-medium cooked egg (egg was the best thing I ate - it was cooked just the way I like it although not really warm). That piece of toast cost $6.50. Seriously. Sure, this is a mega resort and the setting is nice, and I expect high prices for basic food in a place like this, but $6.50 for toast is highway robbery. 2 stars for the nice outdoor setting and perfectly cooked semi-cold egg (and pleasant service). I don't really care that the barely edible breakfast was $17, but it really bothers me that a side of toast is $6.50. Will go elsewhere for the remainder of my stay.

We ate breakfast here 2 of the mornings of our stay at the Grand Wailea (which is just a must-stay-at resort). What a luxurious and gorgeous setting. Great service, beautiful decor (we were out on the large marble terrace and surronded by live parrots. It was awesome. Plus they serve POG (Pass-O-Guav) just like every other menu in Hawaii. In New York you ge Orange Juice, In Maui you must try the POG. Can't wait to return. While you are here - tour every inch of the grounds of this enormous hotel - the fruit garden, chapel and beach area are all magnificent - to say nothing of the water park (often teeming with kids AND adults.)

This is just a terrible, overpriced breakfast buffet that I suspected is geared for inexperienced visitors lured by their "ocean view". The "ocean view" can only be visible when you stand up from your table, otherwise all you see is the metal railing on the balcony. As far as the food, for $31++ for breakfast, I expected a lot more. The Aria hotel in Las Vegas offers breakfast buffet at $20 for a whole lot more. This hotel dares to charge this much for just an omelet station, a fruit/salad/yogurt/cheese station, and by cheese station, I mean the wrapped up, mini Baby Bells that you can get a bunch at Costco for cheap! Come on! I've stayed in a 4 star hotel (Motel One) in Germany that offers complete, real cheese spread on platters with the accompanying assortments and champagne! Waldorf-Astoria, you definitely lose to Motel One. The only redeeming quality of this breakfast buffet is the freshly juiced green concoction, whatever that is. I drank a few glasses of this, trying to get my money's worth (I failed miserably). If you want to dine with a view, pack a picnic basket and go to the beach. Much better!

Went here for the breakfast buffet and could not have been more disappointed. $31 per person for a very pathetic spread. Definitely not worth it.

Terrible "value" at $50 per person, even by Maui standards. We had Sunday brunch at noon, most of the breakfast foods were gone. I asked about getting a waffle (because other reviewers raved) and was told that the waffle iron had been "unplugged" already. The food they did have was pretty average. I guess if you take them deep enough on the bottomless champaign/mimosas it might be worth it.

This review is for Sunday Champagne Buffet Brunch. It was pricey but definitely worth it. Our waiter was so attentive and really generous with the champagne and let us stay after the buffet closed. The best part was the view and our waiter and endless guava mimosas :) No rush, just aloha. The snow crab legs were anemic but still just amazing to have crab legs at a buffet! The prime rib at the carving station is delicious, I went back for seconds. The other cooked entrees were yummy, I think it included mahi mahi and chicken. The sushi was so-so. The dessert section was delicious: carrot cake, make your own ice cream sundae, chocolate mousse cake, creme brulee, the list goes on. I'd give this a try if you're feeling lazy and want to stay at the resort to soak in the sun for a day with bottomless mimosas and food to last you through the day.

This review is for the sunday brunch buffet. Food is good but I would expect more options since its the Grand Wailea. The ambience and the panoramic views are spectacular. Service is top notch and impeccable. Waiters are pouring juices, champagne and coffee left and right. We felt like royalty having lunch there. Make reservations in advance and download the Maui dining guide app and you can get the buy one get one free BOGO deal. 77.00 plus dollars for me , my wife and 10 year old.Awesome deal considering the location. GDR closes at 1 but they let you lounge as long as you like.Tour the grounds after to walk off your lunch.

As far as restaurants go at the GW, this is the best "deal." The breakfast buffet varies slightly each day so it doesn't get old until the 5th day. They have a good selection of the traditional american fare (eggs, bacon, ham) and a mix of hawaiian/Asian inspired foods such as the fried rice, miso soup, and the best malasadas around! If you have kids under 5, they eat free, so it's an even better deal. We ate off property and spent the same amount for less food. We typically skip lunch after eating a hearty breakfast here.

The wife and I hit this place every morning for the breakfast buffet. Decent selection, decent quality. Love the local strawberries and pineapple. Throw in some fresh made taro malasadas and a kalua pig/goat cheese omelette and the morning becomes an event. Oh, and the included miso butterfish that you order separately is yummy.

This is a gorgeous dining room with a stunning panoramic view of the beach and pools. We came for Sunday Bunch, and it was one of the best bunches we have ever had. Champagne, sashimi, shrimp, crab, fresh fruit, a variety of salads, fish, pasta, and an amazing selection of desserts. There was also live Hawaiian music. Reasonably priced at $49. Only on Sundays 10:30 to 1:00

This review is for the breakfast buffet. I appreciate the variety and the many choices. I prefer the food that isn't cooked on site (bagels, pastries, fruit, etc.) but some of the food they make (the waffles!) are very good. However, the service is pretty subpar and the waiters are often hard to get a hold of. What really drives me nuts are the birds. The staff does not do a good enough job of clearing the tables in a timely fashion, which attracts so many birds to start eating the leftovers. It's really not how I want to spend my meal, particularly because I'm a little bit afraid of birds, especially the ones in Maui that fly right in front of your face (one even landed on my leg one day... NOT OKAY!) I'm not sure what the solution is... maybe more servers or people to bus tables?

Not worth the money. The food was probably not that different from the regular buffet. You're paying for the view(which is gorgeous) and the unlimited champagne. Out first table was so overtaken with bugs that we had to move, no problems after that.

Best buffet I've ever been to! Have gone for Christmas, Thanksgiving and Sunday... Loved it every time!!!

My typical caloric intake for breakfast quintupled at the Grand Dining Room, but only because there were so many great options. Highlights for me at the breakfast buffet were the watermelon & fennel salad, Malasadas (Hawaiian version of the beignet), Belgian waffles, kimchi, grilled vegetables and scrambled eggs. We were seated on a balcony overlooking the water, and despite the demonic baby screaming like it needed to be exorcized at the table across from us, we had a lovely time. The best part was our waitress kept pushing the coffee to the point that I though she might get a commission based on how many mugs I drank, or she had stock in the bean company. We finished our meal as the buffet was closed for the day, but her encouragement to "stay and relax, take your time" made me think of those Grimm fairy tales where the children eat something, grow sleepy, then wake up in a boiling cauldron.

Great value for Sunday Brunch. Family of 4 was $100 including tip with BOGO coupon on Maui Dining Guide app. This included champagne as well. Woo hoo. 4 stars for value, view and 5 for service from Debbie as she rocked!! Food was average 3 stars but good for value. Only problem I experienced was they ran out of clean plates and several dishes and it took a long time to replenish. What? Gave up and used two dessert plates. Maybe they were just short staffed at 11am.Next time we will make reservations for later in the afternoon.

Sunday Champagne Brunch Hard to get a reservation but definitely worth it. We made reservations for 8 and lucked out with a wonderful view of the pool and ocean off the balcony. Everything about Sunday brunch was perfect from the ambiance to the presentation to the quality of the food and staff. Menu grandwailea.com/pdf/GDRM… We started with a Guava Mimosa and fresh pineapple that melted in your mouth like a pina colada. The papayas were bursting with flavor and the other fruit were exceptionally sweet. Guava juice in one hand, we moved quickly to the shrimp cocktail, smoked salmon, and snow crab legs. They were firm, succulent, and fresh, not the farm raised limp tasteless shrimp that's popping up everywhere and definitely high quality lox. Then we moved to the prime rib, smoked Kurobota ham, and omelettes made to order. All very excellent. Outside in the lobby, fresh malasadas came out so we dug into those, made our way to the sushi bar. That was probably the only disappointing part of the buffet. Sushi was just not the right rice, the sizes too big and the flavor off. Dessert was heavenly and the Laperts ice cream sundae sealed the deal. One thing we really appreciated after the fact, The Grand Dining room tries to keep the crowds out so they space out the seatings so you don't feel like there are too many people. Hence, the hard time making a reservation.

The breakfast buffet here was just "ok" ... the hostess' in front don't really seem to have it together and there is always a line to get in even when there are lots of open tables. It's $100 for a family of 4 with 2 kids and it just wasn't that exciting. The only thing made to order were the omelets. It is a great buffet if you're comparing it to a regular hotel breakfast but staying at the Grand and eating there daily I was expecting something a little bit more exciting. It was a lot of the same foods rotated day to day, some days were great and the hot items were all especially tasty and other days were just ok. The malasadas were really good. It was good enough to go back if it was included in the hotel package but we were a little surprised that even though we had a package for room and breakfast, that didn't include our 5 and 7 year old children so we were charged $32 extra every day for them during the first week when we had that package with the room. We thought that was a little cheap as they are not huge eaters and they were in the room with us but it's all good :)

We ate here every morning of our stay! Lovely buffet and excellent service, in fact all of the staff was wonderful. Nice selection of food, and very yummy!

Service and view are top notch. The food however was pretty poor. Food quality and taste were sub par to most Hilton's in the mainland. Too bad as this hotel has one of my favorite restaurants. It's interesting how the food quality differs between the two.

This is a review for the Sunday brunch. I am also a local, so take this review from a non-tourist point of view. You have to make a reservation even though the dining room is almost never full. We showed up without one but luckily a party ahead of us cancelled and we were told we would be seated. After waiting 45 minutes, I asked the hostess what was taking so long and she told us she didn't know because our ticket had been waiting on the host desk. I asked the hostess (a different one) who eventually seated us and she said she called us numerous times. I was standing right next to the hostess the entire wait, so I call BS on that one. The original hostess I spoke with later came by to apologize, but we never saw the hostess who's fault it actually was again. The buffet had the most questionable setup I've ever seen at any buffet. The only available plates are under the buffet itself, meaning you awkwardly have to reach by other guests' legs to get your plate. One of the food holders was broken and I overheard many guests complaining they had been through the line numerous times for a food item that was always out. Red flags started flying. The food itself was pretty good - standard nice-buffet food though, nothing special. The unlimited champagne was nice and the view is beautiful; unfortunately, those don't make up for the other questionable events throughout the dining experience. It was a mediocre experience and other waiters indicated this kind of stuff happens every Sunday because of the lack of organization. All in all, not worth it, especially for locals. There are many other fish in the sea and this one isn't worth it.

2 words... nutella malasadas... whaaaaaat?! Nice spread, seafood offerings could have been more but I'm not complaining. Sashimi was good, shrimp was good. Omelettes were good and so was the prime rib. Free flowing champagne with pog, guava juice and oj. Amazing view.

This is a review for the Sunday Brunch ONLY. Food - 2.5 of 5 Service - 3.5 of 5 Birds - Horrible The food was nothing to write home about. The shrimp had no flavor and the sashimi looked as if it was sliced with a weed eater. The carving station was good and the desert selection looked good, but I could only look. The birds eating off the tray made me lose my appetite. The bird situation here is horrible! The birds eat items right from the buffet line!! It is disgusting. As we checked in, i observed the birds eating from the desert table behind the hostess. Then someone picked one of the items that the bird had already pecked at. Don't ask me why at that point we didn't say "neve mind" and walk out. My Husband left the table to get something from the carving station (not out for the birds to eat) and a bird tried to eat from his plate! As soon as people left, the birds swarmed on the table to eat the scraps. Bird poop on table and chairs. If I am going to pay $45 each for brunch, I would like to eat something that was not first pecked at by a bird. Go somewhere else!
