Not. A. Fan. It took me a long time after our vacation to sit back and think about our experiences while in Hawaii. This. Was. The. Worst. We arrived, on time, to the Honeymoon Chalet, and were unable to locate the key, which was promised to be in one place, and wasn't. Once we FINALLY got in, I was impressed with the actual "bones" of the house. It was beautiful and private. And that is about the only positive thing I will say about our stay. Once we were settled, it was apparent that even though you are charged for a cleaning fee, it's NOT clean. Aside from the obvious stacks of junk everywhere, there was dust accumulating and cob webs. What exactly are they cleaning with this fee? I appreciate the fact that there were magazines/movies/board games. I just wished it didn't look like someone else lived there. We went out for dinner, and couldn't WAIT to get back to jump in our private hot tub to ease our sore muscles from hiking all day. So, we got changed, and went out back. Exceeeeept...there's no light. No problem, we'll grab the flashlights. All of which were dead. We're crafty, used our cell phones and right when we opened the hot tub, we realized something was very wrong. The water level was WAY low (so low that the jets weren't working properly), the chlorine dispenser was EMPTY, and the water was a boiling 75 degrees. I'd already had enough and called the property manager, who advised me that "batteries for the flashlight weren't included". She offered to come over that night, but to be honest, I didn't want to get into dirty water, seeing as she wouldn't be able to fix or test WHAT SHE COULDN'T SEE. All that, would have probably gotten her 2-3 stars. But no my friends. There's still more. There's a wood burning stove, which was fabulous. Except, the fire alarm, is in the kitchen drawer. 1 fire alarm in the whole house, and it's doing a TON of good DISCONNECTED in the kitchen drawer. When the lovely property manager came the next day to fix the hot tub, I asked her about the fire alarm. "Well, it goes off in the middle of the night, and people get upset, so we just disconnected it". Problem solved. Annnnnnnd lastly..... I enjoy when there are addtional things to utilize in a B&B (we stayed at one 2 days before this one, which was amazing. Plenty of fresh snacks daily, coffee, granola etc.) HOWEVER, I'd rather there be NOTHING free in my room/cottage, than having expired everything. Coffee creamer? Salad dressing? CANNED GOODS? Expired. Eggs? Cracked. Washer and dryer? Good luck paying for the detergent at the general store. Half eaten pint of ice cream in the freezer? Disgusting. Bust out the bowls. I want someone else's half eaten ice cream. I don't care how nice the "bones" of the cottage were. We left disappointed, several hundred dollars broker, and more than ready to move on to the next leg of our trip. DON'T MAKE OUR MISTAKE.
