My husband and I just spent 4 days at this adorable bed and breakfast during our honeymoon and we couldn't have been happier. All the staff was really friendly. Javed was awesome; he was incredibly helpful and gave us tons of tips regarding what to do on the island during our stay. The place was in a great location - right next to Poipu Beach, and the breakfasts were amazing. We plan on returning here next year.

Poipu Plantation feels like you're staying at a friend's house in Kauai. A friend that has an amazing guest bedroom, makes you breakfast, and knows everything you'd possibly want to know about the island. Seriously. My wife and I had an amazing honeymoon on Kauai, and having Poipu Plantation to stay at made it great. If you want a cozy, friendly, and authentic Hawaiian place to stay while you're on the island, you can't beat it.

Amazing place to stay in Kauai on a budget. This place is absolutely gorgeous, clean full of flowers and island spirit. The location is great. The people are helpful and friendly.

Yesterday we moved here from the Sheraton. They have both apartments and a B&B. We're staying in the B&B. Sally and Mike stayed in one of the apartments. Both are roomy, attractive and comfortable. Our suite is huge, w/ a pitched roof w/ a light and ceiling fan in the main room. There's room for a king size bed and assorted furniture, including a couch and large chair. It has a fireplace, although it's probably not functional. The B&B is housed in an old plantation house, I think. The apartments were built later. In addition to the main room there is a bathroom w/ a toilet, whirlpool and a shower. It closes off w/ a heavy pocket door. The sink is in another room which has a multitude of drawers for clothes storage and what looks as if it was originally a built-in china storage cabinet above them. There's also a refrigerator and a kitchen sink. The bed is comfortable and the light/fan in the kitchenette are on rheostats so we could turn the light way down at night, giving us a night light. There are flower arrangements on this table and in front of the fireplace. There are plumeria blossoms on the pillows which are replaced daily from the garden. Bottled water and other drinks are provided. No shampoos or lotions are provided but I have those in my travel kit. We have a view of the ocean from our lanai, filtered through palms and the roofs of the house across the street. This morning when we went out to the breakfast room we were greeted by the resident Irish Setter, a leggy, gorgeous girl who reminded us in stature of our dearly beloved Emily. Breakfast was excellent, w/ the best papaya we've had on Kauai this trip, accompanied by sliced bananas and a bit of lime. The main dish was French toast made w/ locally made guava bread. It has a pink color in much the same way taro bread is colored purple. Small pieces of pineapple, strawberry, a grape and melon accompanied it. We're looking forward to more good breakfasts over the next few days. We feel at home here, closer to the land than we did at the Sheraton. Nothing at all against the Sheraton. We're just more B&B or condo people than hotel people. At the Sheraton we neither saw nor heard geckos, although we did hear the deep, metallic call of a lonely frog. Here we've seen two geckos already and heard others.

Me and my boyfriend have spent in this amazing place 5 days. We fall in love with our room which gave us this unique feeling of the island. Beautiful old but well preserved furnitures. Very clean and well taken care of place. Every morning different tasty local breakfast. Everybody extremely friendly and helpful. We recommend this place to anyone who wants to feel real Kauai climate. Thank you for your wonderful service! Ada and Tom

Our honeymoon finally arrived and we landed after 7 hectic days in Oahu. After a wonderful, late-night meal at Hamura Saimin near the airport, we were extremely tired. Any fears of a run down hotel or filthy, noisy bed and breakfast were allayed following our entrance into the Poipu Plantation Inn. The grounds, even at night, under the moonlight were impeccably maintained by the staff and included mango trees, plus other local vegetation. The foyer is mainly a pleasant, open window breakfast room and sitting area. We stayed in the Alii suite, which amazed us on how roomy it was and reflected how we would have imagined a Hawaiian bed and breakfast appearing. The bed was large and comfortable. The staff left yellow flowers everywhere, on the towels, the bathtub, tables, even on the toilet paper. Water bottles were left in the fridge and enough clean towels per day. In the morning, Javed welcomed us and the other 4 guests to a shared breakfast. All of the guests sat at the same table, but it was fun meeting such interesting people. Javed was the most amazing host, made us feel at home, answered all of our questions, and informed us of the history of the island. The breakfast is something you should not skip. The food is healthy, exhibited with elegance, and delicious. We never missed the breakfast at 8 am. The property is located near a fun beach across from Brennekes restaurant in walking distance. There are turtles in the water that you can locate on your walk to the beach. The best sunsets were sitting on the black lava rocks being walloped by the ocean waves. I cannot wait to revisit this property again and would not consider any other place, but would recommend the Alii suite. Please keep it clean for everyone else, especially for me, since I will be back. Thanks.

Sitting on the expansive lanai, I feel the breeze waft through my hair, ruffling my sarong pleasantly as I gaze out across lush vegetation, cute rooftops and out to the dark blue ocean. I take another sip of kauai coffee and tune in to the ever-present crazy songs of local birds flirting with each other. In the evenings we watch the sunset from our lanai, exchanging coffee for fruity cocktails we make in our kitchen. We talk and listen, both to each other and to the sounds of Kauai. This. Is. Vacation. Poipu Plantation Resort offers a variety of housing options, from B&B rooms to condo rentals with differing prices depending on the view (garden, scenic, ocean) and upon how long you stay here. We booked the least expensive of the condos ($135/night garden view, 5 night stay), but were pleasantly surprised to find upon our arrival, that we'd been upgraded to the fabulous ocean view condo. Damn, this is mighty fine! There are beautiful, exotic flowers and lush, leafy trees all around the well-kept grounds. There is a coin-operated laundry facility ($1 for washing & $1 for drying - cheaper than San Francisco!), which we have used. We are about a 5 minute slow amble from the famed Poipu beaches. As an added bonus, the guys who are at the front desk are exceedingly pleasant and helpful regarding any touristy info you can dream up to ask about. Not only that, but one of the guys helped us out of a major bind on our arrival day when we were having difficulties lining up a rental car. After trying for several days to rent online, we finally learned that every single rental car agency was flat sold out of cars for the day we were arriving to the airport. This Poipu Plantation guy managed to sweet-talk someone at Hertz into getting us a car. Seriously, folks, this is above and beyond the call of duty when the hotel staff picks up the slack from our procrastination! I'm just going to stop myself here, before this review gets out of control. Just know that this is a lovely place to stay. I would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks Toni M. for your review, which directed me to this marvelous place to stay!

Friendly, accommodating, quite and affordable. If they remodeled the rooms I would totally give them 5 stars, but don't let that deter you from staying there b/c it's a wonderful place that's perfect for couples.

An amazing stay at Poipu Bed & Breakfast. Easy check in and check out! All the staff was welcoming, nice, energetic, and they even bring their dogs to office :) the breakfast was delicious, fresh, and different each day! The Maile Suit was extremely spacious and perfect for us on our honeymoon. They provide a ton of supplies of you want to go hiking, beach, or any outdoor activity. Definitely recommend staying here at the Bed & Breakfast!!!

Awesome vacation rental near the beach. My boyfriend and I stayed here for only 3 nights after hiking the Kalalau Trail. We very much enjoyed our stay. This review is a 4.5 star review, rounded up to 5. PROS: --The Location: Excellent. It's a short 5 minute walk to the edge of Poipu beach. There's great snorkeling there both with fish and sea turtles. Quiet at night. --The Rooms: Well-furnished and comfortable apartments. Comfy king-sized bed, speedy wifi. Very clean. Nice lanai. A/C if you want it, although the trade winds are quite pleasant. The kitchen is well-stocked in terms of cookware (pots, knives, blender, microwave, etc.). --The Property: Very nicely landscaped with lots of flowering plants and trees. Great BBQ area with comfy seating. Laundry room is nice to have, albeit a bit pricey. --Amenities: Beach towels, guidebooks, etc. in the main office. --The Staff/Owners: Very nice people who went out of their way to tell us about the beach, grocery store, snorkeling, hidden gems. Javed, especially, was incredibly patient and warm. And we wanted to steal their beautiful Irish Setters. CONS: I'll just say the cons are pretty minor and are more just helpful suggestions. --Lack of kitchen items: We were a bit stymied in our short visit preparing food by the complete lack of things like oils, spices, foil, condiments, etc. in the in the kitchen. Providing a few more basics would really help those visitors that aren't staying 2 weeks. --Lack of pool/hot tub: It would be so nice to have a hot tub here in the evening or perhaps negotiate free or discounted access to a nearby pool. OVERALL, this is definitely a great place to stay, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others or stay here ourselves. A NOTE: There are a lot of fake Tripadvisor reviews out there in this part of Hawaii...their competitor in Poipu seems to have faked almost all of their Tripadvisor reviews. Yelp's filtering algorithm makes it much more reliable in this case.

We stayed at Poipu Plantation back in October and I realized I never wrote a review. My husband and I hadn't been on a vacation for over two years and we finally booked a trip to Kauai. We found Poipu Plantation on trip advisor and it as exactly what we were looking for. We got a condo, ocean view, and it was really cute and clean. It is in a great location, you can walk to the beach and brenneke's and is a short drive from where that shopping center Keoki's is at. The kitchen has all the utensils and cooking things you need, the bed and pillows were cute and are comfy. It really made you feel like you had your own little apartment in paradise The view from the room was awesome. The one drawback is the towels. They were musty the first time you used them and you had to wash them yourself at the coin laundry or pay 10 bucks for them to get their housekeeping to come and wash them for you. They do give you more then one towel each but you really don't want to use these towels twice. So your going to need to wash them and this is your responsibility. I understand that there is humidity that could be a factor, and it could be a way to keep your costs down and keep rates affordable but when your on vacation musty towels are not cool! This is my only negative. The people that worked there were really nice and very helpful, while we overheard an older couple saying their goodbyes and it seemed that they come back to poipu plantation whenever they visit kauai so I thought that was really cool. Would I come back to Poipu Plantation? Yes I definitely would!

I stayed in a lot of places during my three Kauai adventure but this place was my favorite. It just felt like home. It was private and beautiful and reasonable. I honestly wish we had just stayed there the whole time. The staff is amazing and helpful and courteous. The bed is comfortable and just seeing the picture on yelp just now made my husband and I gush about our time there. Such a sweet place!

We loved staying here! Javed was so helpful and knowledgeable about everything on the island. The service was impeccable, right down to the fresh flower blossoms placed in the rooms each day when they were cleaned. The breakfasts were delicious with beautiful presentation. We are already planning our return trip to Kauai next year :)

Can't say enough good things around the PPR! We were there for 8 days in early December and stayed in the two-bedroom ocean view apartment. First off, the view from the lanai is fantastic! You can sit and look left towards the ocean and right towards the mountains. Each bedroom had its own bathroom. (I always scoffed at the people on the House Hunters shows that wanted two-sink bathroom. Well this apartment has two two-sink bathrooms, perfect for two couples. But even better for one couple!) Chris and Javed were amazing! I don't think I've met friendler, more charming, or more helpful hosts. In the mornings, I'd go into the office and tell them our itinerary for the day. Chris and Javed would make suggestions, like "that beach is very crowded and busy these days, try this beach instead". Or "Kekaha beach is very similar to Polihale without the 5-mile ride on an unpaved road". Through them, we found out about a hike we could take along the coast starting from the resort. We'd start at 6:30am and walk for 2-1/2 hours and be back before the temperature and humidity rose. One of the best memories of our vacation! They were always very careful to suggest safety around the water, especially with the 40 and 50 foot waves on the north and west shores. What we also liked was the free use of beach towels, chairs, books, and the sun tan lotions and bug sprays leftover from previous guests. The laundry room was a definite plus, since I packed a lot lighter knowing it was there. We were glad to have stayed there the whole eight days and most definitely would stay there again!
