About Taco Bell
Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.
The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.
Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Don't let the lack of stars fool you. We were a bit surprised. Due to the reviews, we were apprehensive in driving through for a late night snack but we're so glad that we did. Everything was freshly made. The nacho chips were crisp, better than most sit-down restaurants. It was a perfect start to our late night arrival here in Kauai. The attendant was super friendly too. Aloha!!

Ok Taco Bell employees, food was good...but the wait was 45mins!! My husband and I patiently waited for our order: 2 cheese roll ups, 1 steak quesadilla, and a beef nacho. Since we were visiting from out of town and a cab is cheaper, our cab driver came in to make sure everything was ok, since you know we were waiting 45 minutes. The staff needs to focus on their time and walk in customer rather then just the drive thru.

D H. (below) got that right! Had to bang on the window at 11:24 p.m. to get an explanation from shift manager Jaypee as to why the place was closed when the Drive-Thru is supposed to be open until Midnight. Jaypee seemed a little scared and said that, "They changed the hours." This has happened to me four times in the last six months, so I'm guessing Jaypee closes an hour early every night. I've also seen people get kicked out of the dining room at 9:45 p.m. even though the posted hours say it's supposed to be open until 10:30 p.m. What gives?

Its average fast food. It's not real Mexican, so don't expect anything on that level. We drove up, there was a sign on the speaker that said they were out of fruit punch, lemonade, and raspberry ice tea. If you know my bf, he loves his tea. So he did ask, just to ask. She said they did. And so I proceeded to ask her if they had lemonade. She said they did. I told her there was a sign on the speaker. She didn't say anything. We ordered, and she told me to pull forward. I asked if she wanted me to take the sign down. She was silent and then told me to pull forward again. We pulled up and she gave us the wrong size drinks. I wanted a regular size lemonade and my bf wanted the large ice tea. She also asked me if there was a sign on the ordering speaker. And I told her yes. She didn't say anything after that. She wasn't too friendly. I man, yes, you are working at a fast food place, but be a little more nicer.

I know it's a fast food joint, but there's nothing really open after 9pm here on Kauai. Taco bell needs to step up there game....or maybe just train their employees better. Ordered at the drive thru and the lady does not greet me, although I can hear her talking in the background. I order two salad. One steak and one beef. She puts two beef taco salad on the screen, then says "uhh oops wrong one". (Okay, you didn't need to say that to me? Lol) she fixed the screen (charged me 2extra for the steak salad) after she asked me to check the screen if everything was right, I said yes.... Pull up grabbed my order and still gave me the wrong salads.. Really, not a big deal or anything it's just Everytime I go here they can't get my simple order right.

ZERO STARS!! In fact, this place gets a whopping FIVE DEFICIT STARS from me!! Seriously, this place has problems. Gave them one last chance, and they blew it. Screwing up FOUR out of FIVE times within six months, management might need to get a clue. Recommendation? Stay away! Not even worth it.

This place is lucky to get one star. The place is filthy and the staff is very rude. The food was very poor quality. They have no idea what they are doing. The kitchen had garbage and food bits on the floor. When I told them about an item that was not eight I was told that is the way it should be. Stay away from this place if you want your order right and good food.

My daughter wanted to try Taco Bell for breakfast this morning. We got to the speaker, they asked if we wanted to try the newest promotion. I said no, we neededba minute to look at menu. Well, she never came back! I ordered, no answer. I tried again, no answer. I'm like Hello? No answer. So we drive forward. Now we're behind two other vehicles. There is no one at the window. The one car actually shut off it's engine. FInally she shows up to take first cars money. Then disappears again. We wait, because now we're stuck in line. My daughter's upset because she's afraid she'll be late. When we finally get to window, the lady doesn't even have our order. We left and my daughter went without breakfast.

This is joined with a Pizza Hut in the same building. My wife was craving a 7 layer burrito something fierce so we stopped in. The staff was fine. The burrito was as expected. This food is just plain bad, thus the bad rating. It's Taco Bell. What do you expect?
(2)N A.
Had dinner there with my family...and my son really loves their cheesy roll up and pog slush...
(4)Gordita B.
I thought I was being punked, which is the only reason why I'm bothering to write this review...yes on a TB. I have no shame (and a crazy craving for sour cream at 10am) so I waited patiently at the drive thru for my TB breakfast. And waited. And waited. She was there because she greeted us when we drove up, but after asking for a moment to read the menu, she never came back on. *eye roll* We drove up to give her our order (she was just standing there, talking to her coworkers) & received the nastiest TB order i've ever tasted. The actual "meat" (soy mix? ha) tasted completely off. Oh well, it's TB in paradise. That will teach us to have fast food on the island!
(1)Jill D.
I really wanted to like this place because I'm only slightly ashamed to admit I have a love of Taco Bell. However, I just wasn't impressed at all. The service was fine, maybe even better than average but the food was not as good as most Taco Bells. My bean burrito had too much onion and not enough cheese and red sauce and my taco salad had chunks of rice in it instead of separate grains. Rice is something Hawaiians know about so I'm not sure what happened there. In any case, I was bummed and doubt I'll be able to go back.
(2)Tamara P.
Last week we decided to pick up some dinner at the drive-thru before heading to the airport and settled on Taco Bell for our quick meal. The line moved pretty efficiently and the worker at the drive-thru window was actually pretty friendly and patient with us as my coworker asked her what was in their cheesy fiesta potatoes and most recent crunch wrap supreme special. We both ended up settling on a burrito supreme and crunchy taco each. We actually didn't indulge in our meals until after returning the rental car and checking in at the airport, but everything was still pretty tasty (as tasty as Taco Bell can get). It was a nice treat to sit in the Hawaiian Airllines lounge and enjoy our dinner after a long day of work. Food: *** Service: **** Ambiance: *** Value: ****
(3)Drew M.
Drive thru totally got my order wrong! Not impressed with this visit. I will try going in next time? But most likely just going to the one in Kapaa
