This place was truly paradise! We loved every minute that we spent here. Sam, the manager, is just fabulous. The rooms were so clean and charming! The pool was a perfect temperature and it felt like a little oasis even though it's only one block from the bustle of Lahaina. The breakfast was delicious, the ambiance was so wonderful, and the other guests were all so pleased with this hotel. I would absolutely recommend this place to any of my friends and I truly hope to come back again! We also really enjoyed fresh mangoes off the huge tree and the little geckos that greet you by the poolside. A little slice of heaven!

I LOVED staying at the Plantation Inn!! So glad I chose this place. It's located right in town just a block away from downtown Lahaina with all the resturaunts and shopping. I had one of the lanai's on the bottom floor which opened up to the pool. It was so cozy, spacious and had lots of charm. The breakfast offered daily was great, service was great, location was great and the 24 hour pool and hot tub was great. The fact that kids were not allowed was just amazing alone. I will definitely be staying here again if I'm ever back in Maui!

Our first stay here. Second floor room overlooking the pool area. The room was large with a king bed, lounge type chair, desk, refrigerator, balcony with wicker chairs overlooking the pool and patio area. It is very centrally located one block from Front St. in Lahaina. Staff was friendly and the breakfast which was included was flavorful. Not much more you could ask for.

We live on Maui. Wailuku! The place where people who work live! And twice a year, we drive to Lahaina to spend a weekend at the Plantation Inn. We imagine ourselves driving from SF to Yountville just like when we visit California. But this is even better! We're going to the PI right in the heart of Lahaina where the people are friendly, parking and breakfast are free, and Gerard's French restaurant is part of it. On one of our stays, we dined there the two night we were there. Why? Superb French food and service and we were too tired to walk out of the hotel. How convenient to just walk downstairs into a beautiful French wonderland? Waking up in the morning is stress less as they serve a free breakfast until 9:30am. No French press but decent coffee. We bring our own Chai tea bags and use their cream. But it is super relaxing at breakfast by the water fountain and pool. It's quite because there are no children's voices running around the grounds. I did say I drive. When we want to explore Lahaina, we love to visit the few remaining Barnes and Noble stores on earth, then dine at Honus, then drive back to our quite room at the Plantation Inn.

My husband and I stayed at the Plantation Inn for five days. It was such a nice change of pace from the insanely huge resorts that house hundreds of people throuhout Maui. The B&B owners are French and run Gerard's - a french restaurant in the first floor of the B&B. Guests get a wonderful coupon when dining there and the food was the best French food I've ever had in my life. And I've been to France twice! I've seen some complaints about the breakfast on yelp. But in our experience, each item we had (and we had them all) was wonderful. Attentive service poolside was such a great way to start each day. Our room was a "value" room but was spacious and well-appointed. AT around $160/night, it was a steal compared to almost anywhere else in the Hawaiian islands. We even had a small balcony overlooking the Lahaina downtown and could see a bit of the sea. I loved that we had a small refridgerator to store leftovers. The Plantation Inn was ideally located in the heart of Lahaina. And though nearby beaches were "meh", a very short drive on the highway takes you to multiple public beach access points where parking and showers are plentiful. One other very nice service they offer is that we could pay $60 to keep our room until 6pm the night we were to take a red-eye flight back home. This kept us from having to wander around for hours with our luggage before going to the airport. The only way we could do this, of course, was that our room was not booked for the next day. We will definitely come back to the Plantation Inn!

My husband and I loved this B&B on our honeymoon. We got upgraded to a poolside room. It was clean, quiet and welcoming. The free breakfast by the pool was delicious. Anytime we are back in Lahaina, this is our new must stay. The location was perfect for walking to shops, restaurants, and the beach. We stayed in 3 different types of hotels including a resort and this was by far our favorite.

**GOOD B&B IN LAHAINA** Great location. Checked in. Staff member escorted us to room. Room #17 looked like a vintage plantation room with a canopy bed and lanai. Somewhat dark. Sheets were not Egyptian cotton soft. However, expected from a 3 star property. LIKES: *Free parking *Free WI-FI *$50 Food Certificate to onsite restaurant, Gerards *Free Beach Towels *Helpful Staff *Walking Distance to busy Front Street *Quiet and Peaceful on Residential Street *Awesome Breakfast (try the French Toast) *Instant hot showers DISLIKES: *Internet connection went in and out *Rough sheets (hey, sheet burns hurt) *No elevator for second floor rooms *Hard beds *Not ocean-front It was boutiquey and priced reasonably for under $200 a night. Again, free full breakfast, parking, and wi-fi was worth the price tag. RECOMMEND for those who seek romantic, non-resort, and centrally located lodging in downtown Lahaina.

Everybody is raving about the food here and the service. Well I couldn't enjoy the food because of the crappy service. I go downstairs at 9:28, say hi to the other patrons eating their breakfast to see the staff eating a bowl of cereal standing up. I ask "are you guys still serving breakfast?" One lady says no. I ask what time they stopped serving. "At 9:30". I point to their clock on the wall showing 9:28. "Well I have to go to my other job now". Wow. Really??? So I raised this issue up and another staff eating the cereal says "fine, I'll serve." I said "no need, lost my appetite but I will talk to management about this". The lady laughs and says "fine". Not cool.

Loved this place! The location is a few blocks down from town and from the beach. It's not a fancy beach like Ka'anapali beach, but we enjoyed all aspects of the location of this place. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room we got was at the back of the plantation. I recommend renting those rooms as opposed to the the rooms connected to the restaurant and office, as these hallways were stuffy (pos. from the laundry room and restaurant being in that wing as well). The back of the plantation rooms were very clean and nicely decorated and very spacious! Loved that they had a private lanai. One thing that I didn't like about the rooms at the back was that you had to walk outside of the courtyard to get into your room, which made it feel a little separate from the Inn. Their breakfast was decent, but nothing special. I was a little disappointed considering Gerard's is rated highly and breakfast was not part of Gerard's offering. I heard a lot of microwaving going on! This place was perfect for us bcz we were secluded from the hustle and bustle of the tourists but just steps away and a drive away to their sister property of Ka'anapali beach. We stayed in either room 18 or 19...It was modern and updated, the room next to us didn't look too updated but it was still nice.

Quaint and quiet. Stayed in suite 14. A/c nice bathroom and Hawaiiana style room. Bed was so comfortable. Desk clerk was do informative and sweet. Even showed us to our room. Breakfast staff were professional and nice too. Love this Gem of an Inn.

Late check in was a breeze! We were told to see the maitre'd when we arrived. He took out an envelope with our name on it. Map, keys, car parking voucher were all included. Even though we had a late arrival, we were able to park in their 3 spot lot for the night. We had booked a lanai room which happened to be discounted for our stay! The room included a beautiful queen poster bed, couch, tv, desk. There was a double door that swung open to a decent sized lanai that faced the pool. He said the decorations reminded him of a southern styled room. Jaccuzi and pool can be used 24/7. Gerard's breakfast is included with your stay. Seating is outdoors and right next to the pool. Their menu is simple, offering about 6 items daily - Egg Florentine, Bagel and Lox, French Toast, Croque Monsieur, for example. Tea, coffee, juices are also included. During our stay we were able to taste the egg Florentine, bagel and lox and the French toast. Everything was delicious! Location also cannot be beat. Lahaina area is a cute downtown setting and the Inn is walking distance to all the stores. Highly recommend staying here, rather than the resort conglomerates further up north in Kaanapali.

Perfect bed and breakfast for our honeymoon! It is a charming little place, no more than ~20 rooms and no kids, which is great for newlyweds looking to relax. The pool was beautiful and very clean too. Amenities included: - free wi-fi - beach towel service - free parking - complimentary breakfast by the poolside (from Gerard's french restaurant) - $50 gift certificate to Gerard's - good location (close to front street, but far enough away for it to be quiet) Would highly recommend for honeymooners.

The Plantation Inn is a quiet oasis in the busy town of Lahaina, Maui. We have stayed here four times in Room Number 9, the Lahaina Suite overlooking...the town. I know it sounds funny, but the 2nd floor porch here is so peaceful that my wife and I keep coming back to this inn and this porch. Don't get me wrong, I love ocean-front properties. We've stayed in Wailea and we love the Halekulani, too. But the Plantation Inn is special. The place is never crowded so most days we have the pool and jacuzzi to ourselves. The breakfast is delicious and prepared by the chefs at Gerards (real French toast, poached eggs, fresh yogurt). The staff is friendly and been with the Inn for years. From here we can walk around Lahaina to shop and eat in restaurants like Kimo's and David Paul's without driving. While the water is only 1 block away, it's really not a spot for swimming. Instead all the restaurants line Front Street. When we want to go into the ocean, we drive 5-10 minutes up the road to their sister property, the Kaanapali Beach Hotel. We go in the ocean, walk around Whalers Village, lounge at the KBH and then make our way back to the Plantation Inn for more relaxation. Btw, room 9 is right over Gerard's and we have never heard enough noise to bother us. Rates are very reasonable for Maui, with specials available and discounts for returning guests.

We stayed 4 days in Lahaina at the Plantation Inn. It was great not to be in a resort but in a human size hotel... Really nice hotel. We could enjoy the pool in the afternoon, it was soooo quiet. The location in the city is perfect and Lahaina is touristic but really good spirit (people are nice, good quality food, nice art galleries... does not feel like a "trap"). The staff of the hotel is very friendly. The bedroom was basic but charming. We've been upgraded to a bigger bedroom. The 2 negative points would be: a noise coming from the kitchen of the restaurant early morning (ventilation or something, probably only one or 2 rooms impacted) and the choice for breakfast is restricted; I was surprised about that because it is the chef of the best French restaurant I had in the USA that is taking care of it (Chef of Gerard's restaurant, see my review) but somehow, it was lacking something, when you order a french toast, you cannot just eat a big french toast with a small fruit salad, you need a bit of variety... I was gonna forget, as a guest, you have a $25/pers voucher for Gerard's restaurant.... EXCELLENT! Also I had a package room and wheel (room + rental car), I did not really like it because you still have to pay lots of fees and taxes on top of it and you loose visibility on the costs... I think you can have better deals on priceline... to be checked!!!!

Got room 9 right above the restaurant Very noise and too far for the wifi to work.

Restaurant initially intimidated us because it was located in a fancy. Country club. However the prices are very reasonable and that was extremely gracious. We went back twice in a week. The tropical fruit, French toast, and coffee were delicious. They're a million-dollar views of the ocean from the table.

I love, love, love this place! This was our second time staying at The Plantation Inn (the first time we stayed in the suite for our wedding night) and it was just as relaxing and awesome as the first time. Here is why I love this place....The friendly staff, the free breakfast by the pool, the pretty courtyard with the perfect pool and hot tub, the huge room with king size bed (room #10) , the newly remodeled rooms in the style of an old Hawaiian plantation house, the private lanai and being so close to town but not exactly in town so you can enjoy the nice and quiet atmosphere. Did I mention that all this goodness comes at a very reasonable price? We could have spent mega dollars staying at a resort but it wouldn't have been so relaxing plus it allowed us to save some money and apply it to fancy dinners and more activities.

The crowd: My stay was Mon-Thurs, and the crowd seemed to be older retired folks. Starting Thurdsay and checking out Friday, younger people showing up and some families started arriving. Pros -clean -quiet -$25 coupon to Gerards ($50 for a couple) Note: I didn't use this, because I wasn't around during their dinner time. -adequate FREE parking -awesome location (walking distance to Front Street/Beach and a slight walk to Maui Grown Coffee) -Spacious Room (a single queen sized bed on the first floor with Lanai) Cons -Their Free Wifi did NOT reach my room. ---I know it existed because it popped up once during my entire stay, but not a big deal for me since I used a 3g iPad that got signal there -It can be a little *too* quiet (which would be perfect for couples or those wishing for the quiet) -This is NOT a resort, so whatever conveniences you expect from there won't be here (no gym, no free waters, not on the beach, no drunk cougars knocking on the wrong hotel doors, etc) -The cube fridge in my room would get loud sometimes -The air conditioner unit could get slightly loud (if only because the rest of the place gets dead quiet) Other: -Not many guests during my stay, so I was able to use the outdoor jacuzzi for half an hour all to myself -Wow, reading the other reviews I didn't get a chance to take advantage of a lot of the perks this place gave and kind of wish I did (like the sister hotel in Kaanapali) -Free breakfast, but I didn't go since there's not MEAT on the menu. Others seem to love it though. -I think I saw a lizard on their grounds (not sure if that's a good or a bad sign)

Amazing place to stay. We were so pleased. We booked through Exepdia so you never know what you might end up with, but we were stoked. The pool is beautiful and warm. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. So close to Lahina, like a block so we walked there the whole time and left the rental car parked in one of the spots at the Inn. So close, yet far enough away, it was extremely quiet. Just about perfect. Breakfast was awesome, you can't beat free and they are ALL so very accommodating. The room was big and the 4-poster bed was lovely. Big flat screen. The only thing I have to stay that could have been better is the air conditioning. It was fine, but it's like a window unit on the wall, it didn't really give off a lot, but enough and there was a ceiling fan in the room. We went the end of May.

I wanted to find a cross between a B&B and a little more privacy so when I found this place with such great reviews I decided to give it a try, and after staying several days here, I couldn't find any complaints. The room was very clean and accommodating, including bathroom & shower. Private entrance in both sides of the room made it easy for us to get in & out w/o disturbing other guests or being disturbed by others. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. But really, the best part about the stay was the breakfast - French toast by Gerard's! It is also conveniently located within walking distance of Front St, and parking is free for the guests so you won't even have to worry about parking in Lahaina. The only regret is that we didn't get to try Gerard's Restaurant during our stay.

Very nice B & B in the heart of Lahina. We stayed in the Luna Suite which was very comfortable and plenty of space. The B & B appeared to be newly renovated and very clean. The only problems was climbing the stairs to get to our second floor suite. No help with our luggage so us old people had to strain. The other issue was being right above the restaurant. Noisy during closing at night and opening in the early morning. The good overcomes the bad. The bed was very hard and we mentioned the problem the the manager. When we got back from our activities that evening there was an egg crate mattress installed which made the bed very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was very good each morning with very friendly staff. The entire staff and mangement did everything possible to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Well worth the price.

We have stayed at the Plantation Inn twice and are going back again in December and I can't wait.. this place is a little gem smack-bang right in the center of Lahaina town. Perfectly located and a very charming and laid back ambiance with a lovely interior courtyard with a pool and outside hot tub. .. and we love that it is an adult only facility. It provides a haven for both single couple and parents needing a much needed break for some relaxation.

There is no place to stay in Maui other than the Plantation Inn. I have nothing to sing but high praise for a place that treats every single guest like a superstar. When I originally planned to visit Maui, I booked 4 nights at the Inn. However, due to a very bizarre and unfortunately series of events (think Lemony Snicket), I ended up missing two of those nights. A freak thunderstorm hit NYC and the only way I made it to Maui was by spending another $1,000 for air tickets and making FIVE connecting flights (Delta Airlines: you're on notice). I had to keep calling to make last minute cancellations. Any other hotel would've given me tons of crap: "Sir, our policy states that you have to pay 100% of the room rate if you cancel within 48 hours of your reservation." Guess what, even though these guys had that policy as well, the manager signed off and said that as along as I showed up for two nights, he wouldn't charge me anything. At most, he said he was willing to only charge $25 if I completely bailed on him. I felt terrible that his fine establishment, with only 19 rooms, would potentially lose 4 nights of business during the peak summer vacation season for reasons far beyond his control. And this guy STILL insisted on bending over backwards and helping me out with my situation. This sort of class is rare in any industry, and has easily won over my adulation and loyalty. PROS: -Great location, it's far enough away so you can rest and relax in complete isolation, but close enough that most everything is within 20 minutes (except Halealaka and Hana, but those would take hours to reach from ANYWHERE) -Free breakfast! And it's pretty good too! -The inn also hosts Gerard's, the highest rated restaurant in Maui. It serves French cuisine, and when I stayed, they gave every guest a $50 off coupon for dinner with Gerard's. I didn't get a chance to try it, but I will the next time I go. -Did I mention how awesome the staff is there? Very laidback, very accommodating - no words can express my gratitude for their helpfulness. After dropping an extra grand and missing 2 days of vacation, nothing feels better than to have a guy insist on making your stay better even though you kinda screwed him over (by accident). CONS: -I've never said this before, but I literally cannot find anything to complain about this establishment. This is the golden standard everyone should strive for in the hospitality industry. My only regret was I couldn't stay longer and give the guy more business, but I hope to remedy that the next time I visit Hawaii. FYI: For a one queen bed room, I spent $179/night, a very good rate at a hot vacation destination. This price is typical for small, independent establishments like his. Also, he has some pretty awesome package deals. That $179/night INCLUDES a car rental (it was only a $10/night add-on), so booking a stay here literally comes with everything. And you WILL need a car in Maui, so why not just do it here? However, given the immense quality of the facilities and the staff (plus the perks like the dinner certificate and free breakfast), I feel like the manager is easily undercharging compared to his competitors. If you're heading to Maui (and you should, because it is far superior to its over-commercialized, traffic clogged cousin Oahu), you have to stay here and experience a wonderful, completely worry-free getaway.

I really don't understand all the good reviews for this place. The quality and value of the rooms must really vary. My experience was extremely disappointing. Most of the Inn's rooms are either "standard rooms" or "lanai rooms". When I was there, the lanai rooms were offered at about $175. However, there were no lanai rooms available for one night of my stay. The young lady taking my reservation -- who really wasn't a font of information, friendliness, or good diction -- told me a suite was available and that it was well worth the extra $85 per night. I don't know if the Lanai Rooms are worth $175, but I can tell you the suite was ridiculously uncomfortable and overpriced. My bed was a full, not a queen, and a really cheap and hard full at that. I had a backache the whole time I was in Maui. The shower (no tub) was very uncomfortably designed. There was no bathroom counter, just a pedestal sink. If I had dropped my contact lens case on the floor one more time, I think I would have cried. No robe or slippers. No coffee maker or even instant coffee, though the suite comes with two burners, a couple pots, and a microwave from circa 1985. Getting to my room required walking through the employee smoking area, past some creepy looking people, and up a dark cement staircase. Front desk help was unfriendly and seemed to resent taking my money . (Bad enough there is no one to help you with your bags, but no one even showed me to my room.) As far as the breakfast, well, it wasn't anything to write home about. I considered skipping breakfast and going to Starbucks. At least at Starbucks the coffee is the right temperature and you have more of a selection than four items. For $265, in the slow part of January, I could have had a great room in one of the big hotels on the beach in Kaanapali. It's really a pity, because I loved staying in Lahaina. I could check out the art galleries, have a nice meal and a few drinks, and walk home. The Inn was a 10 minute walk to the wharf, which was another plus if you're interested in whale watching. I just really thought the price did not match the quality of the room or service.
