Stumble upon this little cafe for a late lunch. Ordered a tuba melt panini and a turkey cranberry panini. Both are excellent panini, the bread was grilled to perfect crispiness and the flavor was just right for a sandwiches. Recommend for good panini with affordable right beside the beach. BTW, stuff is super friendly here.

Oh, Charley Young bagel from La Plage, I love you! I've been coming here since I started visiting Maui. Lovely, polite service with a charming French accent! Great bagels, and fair prices for the neighborhood...heck...the island. My favorite grab and go breakfast!
(5)Matt G.
Went to this spot for breakfast - breakfast bagels and coffee, nothing fancy. It's trending at 4.5 stars so expectations were.. Well 4.5 Yelp stars (whatever that means). The good: - friendly service early in the morning - quite a nice comfortable space (including a sofa) - laid back and chill the rest.. Nothing 'horrendously bad' as such.. But I'm flummoxed at a 4.5 star rating. What we got was a supermarket bagel (half toasted), some so-so egg (possibly real), slice of cheese, some semi ripe tomato (ok, imported, I get it we are in Hawaii) and a piece of lettuce (incidentally the upgrade to lettuce and tomato seemed to be $1.50 on the basic bagel.. My bad for choosing it I guess). Coffee - not good. Which returns me to 4.5 stars. Is this almost the best that could possibly be on offer? Serious question.. I haven't been to the other options nearby so it could be stellar in comparison. I'm giving 3 stars. But that includes a bonus for some nice AC.
(3)Brooke C.
This place would be a perfect candidate for 4.5 stars, but alas that is not possible. We came here for lunch as well as breakfast the next day. The food is fresh, and because of that it does take a little while for them to prepare it, especially if busy. I had a veggie sandwich on whole-wheat: sprouts, avocado, tomato, onion and cream cheese. The salad on side had a tasty house made dressing. My husband had a turkey panini which he said was very tasty. This morning we both enjoyed our breakfast bagels and my husbands pineapple smoothie was super fresh. They did mix up my coffee order giving me a latte instead of an americano, but it was busy so I didn't want to ask for a re-do! Definitely a good place for a light lunch or breakfast!!
(4)Alena R.
Found this cafe on a recommendation of a friend who lives on Maui. Coffee is really good, breakfast yummy and lunch above and beyond. They use al fresh ingredients. The best part is the handsome man with the long black hair in a pony tail. Love the French or Spanish accent! Total stunner! More reason to go back ;-)
(5)Brittany H.
Came here based on yelp reviews and was not disappointed. I got the "le gobble" panini with turkey, cranberry, stuffing, provolone and mayo. It is the best thanksgiving themed sandwich I've ever eaten. Definitely coming back.
(5)Matthew P.
After grabbing breakfast this morning and lunch the other day we are very pleased we were so close to this place. Just a short walk from the condo we are staying at. The food is simple but satisfying, you can sit inside or outside which was nice.
(4)Debi N.
A little hard to find, located in Dolphin Plaza, but a nice little hide-away for a quick, inexpensive bagel sandwich. We ordered the "Little Beach" breakfast sandwich, which consists of scrambled egg, your choice of cheese & ham or bacon on your choice of bagel. The bagels were super soft & fresh, making us wonder if they made them in-house, they were that soft! The gentlemen were obviously French & quiet spoken & told us to have a seat & they brought our order out to us once it was ready.
(4)Shauna L.
This place is a stellar lunch spot and has good parking too. I got the Mona Lisa Panini and I would for sure get it again. The house mayo is great! It came with a side salad which was nice cause a girl needs her greens :) My sweets and I also went for coffee one day and the gentleman at the counter saw me eyeballing the case filled with goodies. I was looking at all the yummy looking bagels. They usually do not sell single bagels since they only use them for breakfast sandwiches but he let us take home a couple. If you do want some bagels to take home you can call a couple days ahead and they will place an order for you with the bakery they use. I'm glad he was nice enough to let us try a couple cause I'm sure I will be placing an order soon. It's pretty hard to find good bagels on Maui.
(4)Cindy L.
Best iced coconut latte! In the past, I've been disappointed by coconut lattes when they turn out too sweet and watered down. In this case, you get a nice balance of coffee and coconut in your drink - best of both worlds! For those who don't love coconut, they have a nice variety of syrups that you should check out! I haven't tried their food but that's a must or next time. The service was great and the barista was very helpful and friendly!
(5)Urich J. A. B.
Translated: Cafe at the beach. At Dolphin Plaza right across from the beach. Perfect place to grab breakfast, lunch or a number of excellent coffee and tea drinks. Invigorate on hot afternoons with an iced latte inside the clean, cool air-conditioned space which invites you to linger with relaxing music and people watching
(5)Brenden G.
My wife and I enjoyed a le gobble panini. It was like a turkey dinner in August. So delicious. It tasted so good. The staff were so friendly. My wife had a latte and she said it was great and a good price. We played board games and hung out for about an hour. We love this place!
(5)Shawna S.
I am a diehard fan of the ever popular mermaid emblazoned white cup coffee, but I would take this over the famous one any day. Awesome service as well. Wishing I could take them home with me!
(5)Marygrace D.
I'm no stranger to this joint, regardless if I've only been here a few times. This is my new and favorite place for lunch and coffee. The staff are always in a welcoming mood and very helpful. They like to suggest things on the menu, which shows that they know what they are serving. I enjoy going to places like this when you know quality service will always be executed!! Love the food here too, my fave thus far for breakfast is the "little beach sandwich" (the guy working suggested it's good with the garlic bread with pepper jack cheese with sausage)!! Can't wait to go back and get another round of coffee! Keep up the amazing service!!
(5)Wayland F.
I had the Mona Lisa panini - chicken breast and cheese with green chiles on sourdough. It was quite delicious - green chiles give it just a good flavor without the heat. Todd had their special - a sandwich with spinach and an artichoke cream cheese and bacon. He said it was really great. Servings are plentiful and service is great. Christopher is always willing to help you with menu items and also helps provide information on local spots. We will definitely be back again - and again!
(5)Jess R.
Hands down one of my favorite places to eat. I don't know where else to find delicious bagels and paninis for the prices they offer or owners that make me feel more welcome than the people at Cafe @ LaPlage. On a normal day I'll usually go to a little beach (choice of bagel, cheese, and meat with egg and some sort of delicious sauce.) or on of their rotating specials like "Le Piper" (turkey and brie panini.) or the "Oinker" (Mac and cheese and pulled pork panini. *breathes havily*) They have lighter options too, don't worry! Their house made salad dressing is so simple but so tasty it almost doesn't matter what you put it on. Sometimes I'll order one of their many vegetarian options with a side salad and still feel like I'm indulging because it's just that good. Their daily soup is usually veggie based and makes me wish my mother was as straighforward and french as the techniques used to make them. If you order one of their (amazing) brownies do yourself a favor and ask how they can make it special for you. I would advise against this if you plan on hitting the beach in a small swimsuit after, because you're going to immedietly get pregnant with a delicious chocolate food baby that might just make your damn day. I love that it doesn't matter which one of the staff makes your double-caff-half-soy-machia-latte-cinno it's always going to be good. Oh! And if you're anything like me, the decor and the presence of the trusty book case filled with board games from my childhood, books, and nick nacks just makes the whole place that much more awesome.
(5)Sheri K.
I think this place gets overlooked. Def pay a visit and get some of their delicious coffee! I had some chocolate flavored coffee and a breakfast panini. Total was $13 bucks. Also love it bc there were tables outside. This place is very good. French owned (no wonder their food is so scrumptious!) Owner was very nice too.
(5)Heidi S.
We stopped here for a late breakfast/early lunch one day. Service was very friendly and they were very patient as we read through all the options on the menu. Quick to offer suggestions - which is something I really like. Our sandwiches were great! And the prices are very good for the area.
(4)Sarah H.
My husband and I stopped in here this morning for breakfast before heading to the west side of the island. He ordered a Big Beach on an everything bagel, I got a White Rock on a sweet Maui onion bagel. Worth it. The best part, though, was that we mentioned to one of the baristas that our plan was to explore the west side of the island today, and he pulled out a map and started circling places for us to visit. For those that appreciate a local touch, it was nice getting to hear it from the horse's mouth (so to speak). TLDR; good food, super personable staff. Check it out! Pro tip: try the iced coconut latte. Worth it.
(5)Dan S.
Very nice place to grab a good breakfast. Their food is fresh and they offer a very good selection of bagels and other breakfast sandwiches and items. They have tables both inside and outside, and it is casual. Definitely consider this for a good breakfast close to the beach.
(4)Colin W.
Great lunch after a morning of canoeing. Really fresh, made to order sandwiches. Smoothies were tasty. You have to try the sweet Maui onion bagel. So tasty. And the owner was super! A little piece of France in Maui!
(4)Sarah P.
The bagel sandwiches and coffee here are very good, the atmosphere was nothing special in a strip mall, but the real gem is the Argenta bar... It may be the best desert bar I've ever had. It was sort of a shortbread cookie crust, buttery and crumbly, with a Carmel-y, gooey center and a coconut crumb topping. Really friendly staff and right across from the beach, definitely worth a stop.
(4)Jeanette L.
Great coffee and service. Christopher is amazing, he let us know where all the good places to visit. Panini is awesome. We'll be back tomorrow for more
(5)Tracy M.
If you want a cheap breakfast, this is the place to be! They have bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and coffee. They have a great coffee selection but I regret my coconut bagel since it was bland. My husband ordered the onion bagel with jalapeño cream cheese and his was the winner. The egg sandwiches look great, so stick with those. The service is a little slow so give yourself some time. Im from NY so Im a little biased with bagels and service!
(3)Lisa E.
Best coffee I found in Kihei!
(5)Travel Bug X.
Simple but good! Employees there were super friendly and there are tons of selections. We got the bagel with egg/cheese/ham and a garlic bagel with cream cheese. And 2 coconut lattes (saw a picture of it on another yelpers review, looked so good I wanted to try it for myself!). It was fast, tasty, and in a casual laid back atmosphere. It was $17 for that much food so it wasn't super cheap (think the lattes were half of that bill) but I will definitely go back :). A+++!!
(4)Hayfa A.
Great people, delicious coffee, and an amazing smoothie. I am a lover of coffee and this is a great place to grab coffee and head to the beach or hit the road. I highly recommend the pineapple, mango, dragon fruit smoothie too! All made from real fruit and tastes incredible. The people here were super nice and very personable too.
(5)Claire P.
The pineapple bagel was AWESOME! Soft and sweet. I ordered the Kalama breakfast sandwich and it was very tasty. It had egg, bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado. Very fresh and neatly prepared. I would recommended coming here to avoid long waits at other restaurants and for a quick bite.
(5)Chirag P.
Free wi-fi, amazing breakfast bagel sandwiches and breakfast paninis. And the owner couldn't have been any friendlier. Try the Kalama bagel with the garlic or onion bagel... very tasty, of course trying to eat a bagel sandwich that's like a foot high is kinda tough. They have some fun board games (battleship) to kill the time with as well.
(5)Robyn R.
By far, one of the greatest coffee shops on the island. The proprietors are sweet, awesome, hilarious, and warm; the food is terrific; the atmosphere lively and yet subdued enough to do a little work at one of their charming tables. I can't recommend this place highly enough.
(4)Jerome S.
Super local and amazing bagels. A wide selection of sandwiches and coffee to choose from. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Being a smaller bistro the seating is limited. This is a place I would recommend to anyone!
(4)J D.
Nice clean setup. Nice atmosphere for coffee. South American deco. Good selection of bakery goods, coffee. Shares a menu with neighboring restaurant which makes it convenient.
(4)Karen D.
Pretty tasty little deli spot! Come early if you want their good breakfast bagels before they run out or if you want soup at lunch time. I had the Olowalu turkey club. Recommend their multi grain bread. Very nice
(5)Heidi B.
A hidden gem in Kihei. Coconut latte is the bomb! You should also try this drink with chocolate added. Comfy, laid-back ambience, a sofa to sit on and table to set up your laptop. A quiet place to hang out/work for a few hours in the afternoon. Barista who made our coffee is very friendly and personable. Three little piggies on the floor has its story - one of the owners of this coffee shop is from a pig farm in France. How cute :)
(4)Felicia S.
Portions are large, people are very nice. I only wish we didn't find it on our last day in Maui. I would have came here every day for breakfast.
(5)Eric Micha'el L.
Like they say in the movies, personality goes a long way... Over the two years or so that my wife and I have been frequenting (and I do mean frequenting) Cafe A La Plage, we've probably gotten to sample just about every bagel and panini sandwich on the menu. And at this point I can honestly say that if this place were to pack up and head elsewhere, we would probably pack up and follow them. CALP oozes not only genuine character but genuine flavor and *aloha* to boot. The level of care and attentiveness that these guys (and Julie!) provide day in and day out has been nothing short of a godsend during our time living in South Kihei. Favorites include the Kalama / Keawakapu / Big Beach sandwiches (consider subbing sprouts and/or red onions for lettuce on these guys), the tuna melt & Charlie Young for fish days, and let's not forget the turkey & brie "Piper" sandwich on the Daily Special board - not to mention the ridiculously delectable Chicken and Mushroom panini, if you're lucky enough to be there on a day when they're making it. Oh, and no meal would be complete without a homemade French "secret recipe" brownie to top it off - but don't tell Naor I've succumbed. Merci beaucoup, La Plage family!
(5)Trenton V.
Nice service. All I got was the tea, which is Tazo, but the place had a cozy couch and some board games to play, so I'll give it 5 stars.
(5)Oscar V.
Great spot for a lunch meal. I ordered a panini sandwich it was really good. All the ingredients were fresh. The sandwich comes with a side salad and house dressing. Really clean restaurant under $10 for a meal that I ended up splitting with my wife. Great choice.
(4)Caroline L.
This place was decent and the servers were nice. I had an egg and cheese on a toasted bagel. The cheese wasn't melted and the bagel was dense. Not bad but could have been better. My husband had a breakfast panini. It was okay, but nothing special. My latte was good. Bonus was that they had board games to play.
(3)Jennifer M.
Wasn't too impressed by this place. Maybe because I came in the later afternoon when pastries were pretty much depleted, and not a time for serving food. I tried their coffee, which was mediocre. Thing that turned me off the most was their service, which was a bit cold. The place also smelled like cleaning agent. Didn't stay long, just got my caffein fix. I hope they have better service / food than my experience there.
(2)Renee B.
Delicious coffee! We walked here from Our resort every day (sometimes twice a day) to enjoy an iced coffee. Good prices, friendly service. Will miss this when we go back to Cali.
(5)Meghan R.
This cafe has it all, delicious food, amazing coconut latte and very friendly service. Every single thing we tried here was absolutely delicious. We had breakfast and coffee here 6 days out of 8 here on Maui and for future visits I know we will return. I highly recommend the Maui sweet onion bagel and the Maui panini.
(5)Angela C.
Good breakfast sandwiches if you like bagels. Really no other options so if you are gluten free or just try to avoid bad carbs like bagels, try another place for breakfast. Coffee is really good though so worth the trip just for coffee. I didn't find the staff very friendly. We had our two small kids with us and they seemed somewhat annoyed by them.
(3)Emerald B.
Delightful service by charming French men in Hawaii??Yes! But all pleasantries aside I had a Kalama Bagel which had avocado bacon egg tomato and lettuce on maui onion Bagel. It was delicious, the cafe is also charming and cosy with wifi and a appropriately placed t.v with equally appropriate volume.
(5)Justen B.
This place is awesome. Really really great food and best bang for your buck. I will here every time in Maui. Without a doubt.
(5)Eric P.
Meh. Decent but very overpriced sandwich (price silently jacked up for a requested substitution). They've also assiduously hidden all the electrical outlets in the place --though you can certainly pay them to use one of their machines.
(3)Renee Z.
Love this place! The freeze latte and the breakfast sandwiches were delicious! Extremely reasonable prices and superb service. The staff here are so friendly and fun!! We had breakfast and smoothies for 4 for $35! All homemade deliciousness with maui charm!
(5)Sarah C.
Wow what a gem this place is! My fiancé and I live around the corner and have heard good things about this spot so we thought we'd check them out. We went for a late breakfast and coffee and it was wonderful! Christopher took very good care of us! The art and decor is cozy and hilarious and everyone there was friendly and happy. Prices were good and food was delicious. This is our new spot!
(5)Bryan T.
Quick and simple, Cafe @ La Plage offers a quaint menu of bagel and panini sandwiches and standard coffee shop offerings as far as drinks go. Courteous and helpful staff are friendly and efficient. Worst stopping by before heading to the beach!
(4)Kris D.
Just ate here, wonderful breakfast sandwiches! Very reasonably priced, and very nice staff. I had the big beach bfast sandwich on a coconut bagel, yum! Bagels are soft, not hard. Do yourself a favor and eat breakfast here at least once!
(5)T T.
The bagels are really soft and tasty. Went there every day for breakfast. The highlight was the iced latte. One of the best I've ever had. Also tried a regular latte (not iced) but it was too hot for me. The iced one is perfect though. I think they use local Ono beans.
(5)Ernest S.
Okay for a fast food type breakfast. It was priced fairly for Maui and the employees were very nice. The bagels were too soft for my liking. I tried the pineapple bagel but it didn't really have any flavor.
(3)Samantha P.
The BEST breakfast sandwiches. They are all named after beaches here and you get to choose the bagel you want. Delicious! The guys that own the place are really nice! Great coffee too! It's just a small cafe so it is a unique experience. I love it!
(5)Cheryl R.
Found this unique little place on yelp! My husband and I weren't uber impressed with the breakfast place down the street so we decided to try La Plage out. So glad we did! I ordered the Chicken bacon ranch panini and it surpassed my expectations! (Thanks guy at the register for the recommendation!) Okay...so a chicken bacon ranch panini isn't exactly what pops in your head when you think of 'breakfast', but try it. It's delish!! The staff even checked in with us while we were eating to make sure we were enjoying our food. :-) There are some really eclectic decorations and pieces for sale. It's fun! If I'm back in Kihei I'll definitely come here again!
(4)Ganesh V.
Love this place - cheap, healthy and tasty. They are perfectly located in front of the kam ole beach and have very good sandwiches - fresh and tasty. And the guy who took our order on the first day was super helpful as well. We tried a number of things and loved all of it.
(5)Ann B.
This is a quiet little cafe at the Dolphin Plaza opposite Kam I, as the locals say. I came in here nearly every morning I was in Maui and had a coffee and bagel. They give you "real" mugs and you have your choice of Maui roasted and/or grown coffee. I liked their French Roast style the best and then their House Blend. Both great choices. Bagels are soft and chewy. I gravitated toward the Coconut Bagel a lot since I love coconuts and don't see that bagel flavor at all back home, so it's a treat. Pack lunch. I told the guys with their sexy French accents that DH and I were going to an all day hike up in Haleakala and they set us up with a great sandwich and chips. They even went so far as to not recommend this sandwich or that sandwich bec it wouldn't travel well and eventually get soggy. Great job! They have internet access, little kitchy(sp?) magnets and snarky birthday cards that my friend says "are a riot!!" when waiting for your order. Their brewed coffee imho, is up there with Starbucks and Peet's. No wimpy coffee here. I would not say this place has a restauarant feel. You could order food in a light lunch atomosphere that is freshly preparied for you. And tasty. But the atmosphere evokes more of a coffee cafe place where folks can get their coffee and read the paper or watch the news. Great place. Would go back again and again if I lived Kihei.
(5)Elissa C.
The coffee was fine. But I came to do a few hours of work and they don't allow you to use their outlets to plug in electronics. Bummer.
(2)Ralph L.
Bottom line, Great Food, Great Sevice!
(5)Kate P.
Can't wait to go back - friendly service, comfortable atmosphere, and the food is very good. I got a tuna melt with a salad on the side, it was very well made, even had capers in it :)
(5)Richard M.
Great selection of sandwiches and coffee. They are highly recommended as a place the locals actually go and I found the food to be excellent. The staff was nice enough and there are enough cards/magnets/stickers to amuse you if you don't mind some crude humor.
(5)Mei W.
Great little cafe serving up fresh sandwiches, super delicious Paninis, fruit smoothies, and iced coffees. The owner is really Nice and friendly, and the servers are the same. It's new tough, Finding good food out here in Kihei, so we are really glad to have Found a place that we would come back to. We had lunch here two Days in a row, and got their sandwiches for our flight home on our Last day here.
(5)Jay S.
Amazing, friendly, and delicious. Get the Kalama bagel sandwich! My wife and I have been starting ALL of our mornings with breakfast and coffee from here. It has made our honeymoon more enjoyable. Great people! Merci!
(5)Michelle W.
Okay, I was in Maui AGAIN. It's a rough life I know. When we woke up in the morning this was the first stop we made for breakfast and as usual it was superb. In fact our friends who were visiting Maui for their first time said "Holy Crap this is THE BEST bagel sandwich I have ever had!" No you can't go in there and get a bagel toasted with cream cheese...tough...you aren't on the mainland. Get over it. Trust me...you want the bagel sandwich....specifically The Kalama or Little Beach. Do it. And yes once again I placed an order for my two dozen coconut bagels to be picked up on my way to the airport on a Tuesday and you know what? They remembered me from my review that I originally wrote here three years ago. Boom. My only suggestion...change the name of the Kalama Bagel sandwich to the Coconut Bagel Girl Sandwich and send them to me monthly...nom nom nom.
(5)Pari S.
This place made me smile :) Cafe @ La Plage is a small cafe that has a pretty extensive breakfast sandwich menu and great drink choices as well. In Kihei, it's located inside a shopping mall and not very visible from the main street. We were hungry and both ordered sandwhiches. I have forgotten the names of the sandwiches but essentially I got a BLT without egg on a Maui Onion bagel (deliciously fresh, just amount of bacon and wonderful crunch). My date got a chicken+bacon+peppers panini (very hot, fresh, and unique); he was very happy and scarfed it down all in about 10 seconds. He ordered the coconut coffee and I had hot tea, which was a good wake-up for an early morning. Overall, we had a great breakfast experience and would recommend visitors to check it out!
(4)Rach K.
Yay! 12 of us trekked over here for our first breakfast in Maui. There was plenty of seating but the staff was definitely overwhelmed by our order. Everyone got some sort of bagel sandwich, except for one person who got eggs florentine panini, and the bulk of us agreed that the bagels left a lot to be desired, but we're all NY bagel snobs. I had the Charley Young, which was a bagel (I asked for Maui onion) with cream cheese, lox, tomato, onions, and capers. The lox were amazingly fresh, not too salty, and really good and I really enjoyed it. I also shared a blueberry bagel with cream cheese which was just okay. I would give the food here 3 stars but I'd give the staff 5+stars for their cooperation and patience. They had to make 3 batches of coffee to sate our needs and it took a lot of effort, I'm sure, to try and make that much food all at once. There was a French guy who helped us out a lot and he was really gracious, happy, and kind. They did kind of hop out of their usual mellow Hawaiian attitude and hurried up and worked quickly to get us what we needed, which was really nice of them because we were all starving. There is wifi here, so it's a nice spot to *surf* before you surf.
(4)Paula B.
I ducked in for a latte and it was deliciously cool inside. coffee was yummy and so nice to be served in a mug. the owner is super friendly and has lively conversations with anyone who comes in. i wasn't needing food, but they had quite a menu of sandwiches and salads!
(4)N H.
Great food, friendly service!
(4)Aimee R.
My boyfriend and I were on our way to get a burrito, but our place was closed so we decided to try Cafe A La Plage. We've lived in Kihei for almost 6 months and had never seen this cafe. It was open on a sunday and looked happy and heathy, so we popped in! What an adorable place! I was so excited for the menu because I've found being a vegetarian it can be challenging do find delicious food near by... Everything we ordered was fresh, delicious, and the service was great. I'm sure well be regulars at this bright and cheerful Cafe.
(5)Nancy B.
Simple cozy coffee cafe. The bagel egg sandwich was delightfully tasty and quite filling. Loved the soft sweet onion bagel. Could use some updating as it's a bit run down but that didn't stop us from going three times for a quick and cheap breakfast!
(4)Annie C.
We got the coconut bagel and pineapple bagel. So fresh and delicious!!! Very friendly staff that will even help you with great places to go!
(5)Rado S.
Super chill place to have a great breakfast and coffee. Chris and Christopher (the owners) are awesome and so is the rest of their staff. Good coffee, awesome Paninis, nice pastries and well done smoothies. Their French Roast Coffee (local Kona Bean) is the likely the best coffee on South Kihei Rd. and their Maui Melt (turkey, cheese, bacon, avocado, jalapeno, sriracha aoili panini) is da Bomb!!!
(5)Corey C.
Finally -- an affordable place to get a delicious breakfast and coffee on Maui! It's open by 6:30 and convenient to my daily walks along the beach, so I got to enjoy my breakfast post-Flossie to-go. I didn't taste much fruit in my pineapple bagel, but maybe that's because the jalapeno cream cheese isn't kidding around -- by the time I finished, I was sweating! That's just how I like it, though. The coconut latte tied a bow on my Maui vacation. I'd return in a heartbeat.
(4)Bobby D.
Love the guys who run this place. Fantastic coffee and yummy sandwiches. Right near da beach boy!
(5)Emmy H.
Just stumbled across this place randomly. Love it! The guy working gave us great recommendations and was really friendly. Great service and surprisingly reasonable prices. The interior is kitschy and cute; the greeting cards really cracked me up. We ordered two sandwiches from a really vegetarian friendly menu ! Both of our sammies tasted great and we were really happy we could get a side salad with our meal. Will go back soon!
(5)Tammy W.
A little dicey looking from the outside and the decor inside is maybe not to everyone's tastes, but the food was super delicious and the service was awesome! :)
(4)Mike M.
Cant do breakfast for under $20 in most places on island. You can here, so they get points for that. Something about the texture of the bagel didn't do much for me. I received my order as requested buy my wife got mayo after she asked them to hold it. Wasnt a big enough deal to wait another 10 minutes so she ate it.
(3)Emily N.
We just moved right down the road and I had to check this place out after my friend brought me a yummy bagel sandwich from here. Went today and got a panini with cheese, turkey, cranberry and mayo. It was really good. Good quality and fair price. Can't wait to wake up early enough to try a breakfast sandwich (though they do serve breakfast all day, there is a limited selection of bagels later, we got there around noon). Very friendly service from the two guys working there... Maybe the owners?
(4)Cindy G.
Nice coffee spot and Internet cafe. Latte was excellent. Great place to stop after your early morning walk. View of the ocean from outdoor tables. Good breakfast sandwiches. It is really close to two other little malls, so you can do a little shopping if you want. They also feed the "mall cat," who will greet you in the morning. Quiet, relaxing spot.
(5)Vivek V.
Fantastic coffee. Their maui red brand is amazing. I just had breakfast here and I loved that as well. I tried the panini florentine.

I've gone back several more times with my friend and sister as well. Christoper is so awesome! He went out of his way to make sure that our food was delicious and that we were MORE than 100% satisfied. Great management/ownership. Also, great staff; Karina is very friendly and nice. Much appreciated. Mahalo nui loa! By the way, the cinnamon honey butter is to die for! :) This cafe adds little twists like this here and there (also the house [garlic] mayo, etc) that make your food even more yummy!

A great place to stop for a bagel and coffee before you start your day. Employees are super friendly. Sandwiches are great too, grab one and head across the street for a beach picnic at Charley Young.

Delicous breakfast bagels! So soft! Service was friendly and attentive - good coffee. All around good option for breakfast.
(4)Dan M.
This is my morning place! The coffee is always perfect. My favorite are the bagel sandwiches made with fresh local ingredients. It's a must!
(5)Sandra H.
Great breakfast bagel, very good coffee at a great price for Maui. We ate there several times during our recent vacation it was a very good option to the 30 dollar per at the big resorts. The owners are super nice, lots of locals who are very nice as well.
(5)Stephanie P.
Solid 3.5 stars. $5-$6 for a bagel sandwich; quick, easy and good food for the value. I choose to round up to 4 stars because it's one of the more reasonable priced options available in Maui. Service was friendly and quick, smoothies are pretty good. Bagels are not like NY Bagels - but not like bread either. I'm not sure I would like the bagels themselves all that much here, but they make for good breakfast sandwiches.

Staying close by and decided to give it a go. The guys running it are French, which explains the name :) great food I had the breakfast Panini and my wife had the little beach bagel. Both were excellent and washed down with a super creamy and foamy cappuccino. Will be coming here again

Come here for fast Internet , PCs, good coffee and snacks. The staff is very helpful.

My cousin loves getting this off menu "Linh Coffee" It is delicious..It's a Vietnamese coffee...sweet but good. 4 stars because it is quite pricey here.

I really like this place. It's walking distance to the hotel we stayed it. The breakfast bagels are so yummy. I came back two day in a row. Their lattes are yummy too. I wish i found out about this place sooner so I could get breakfast and coffee here every morning during my vacation. Prices are also very fair. The lattes are better and cheaper tha Starbucks. I will come back again next time I am in Maui.

Their food is fresh and well made, and creative. The staff (owners?) are helpful and pleasant. The coffee (espresso) is over roasted and bitter which is a disappointment since it would be great to find someone or someplace focused on great coffee. Perhaps it is a conscious choice to make espresso this way, but I'd vote for a lighter roast and a ristretto pull to actually highlight the flavor of the coffee.

Teehee, a French owned cafe in Hawaii. It was so cute. They had a nice pineapple smoothie and ice coffee.

Great breakfast joint

Attitude kills. This one will die an early death. The owners paid more to have the word "Bagels" included on their sign in the window than they'll ever make running this place the way they do now. The whole dialogue is boring and typical. I walked in to buy 3 bagels to bring home. The selection was pathetic - 1 everything bagel, half a dozen sesame, and maybe six other bagels. And they did not look that good. But choices are limited on Maui. As I tried to order, I was instructed by an owner-type 30-something that they do not sell bagels. He said they save their bagels to make bagel sandwiches. But he magnanimously would allow me to have three, with the understanding that I could not again just walk in and expect to buy bagels. I'm to call ahead and ask, and if they feel they have enough he'll take my order. Up yours buddy! Any bets on how long these losers stay in business?
(1)Michelle G.
Loved their pineapple bagels and the price is very good for Maui , bagel toasted with cream cheese was $3. Their bagels are soft and not chewy which I love. Deff try this place out for a quick tasty breakfast.
(5)Nimmi O.
Quite decent place for breakfast ..
(3)Ryan D.
This place has the best coffee I've had on Maui. We came in almost everyday, and one day we came in a second time. Maui Onion bagel is delicious. Bagels come w/ a small wedge of fresh pineapple, mmm. Coconut Lattes and the regular coffee (Chocolate Macadamia Nut) are t he best. The owner was super nice and we would sit inside and chat with them as we ate/drank.
(5)Michelle S.
Great food, great service. Yummy bagels and sandwiches. Wish we found this spot sooner for breakfast. This is the only fairly priced food we got on the island.
(5)Jeremy E.
My favorite breakfast joint on the go in Maui. We went here 3 times and all of their sandwiches were great. They get their bagels delivered every morning fresh and I would HIGHLY recommend the sweet maui onion bagel as your bread on any sandwich. Also, the guy and gal that ran the place were really cool. Something that can be lost on restaurants on the island. Made me want to go back and support their biz!
(4)Justin O.
I am here in Maui in vacation. My GF and I have stopped by here twice. The coffee both times was great, with the coffee of choice being Chocolate macadamia nut. Our lunch we ate today was pretty good, nothing special but good. I has the breakfast panini...not bad a little juicy.
(3)Jessica H.
Delicious bagel sandwiches and great friendly service! Nice atmosphere!
(5)Kate O.
Tasty bagel sandwiches. I was actually surprised how soft and fluffy the bagels were. Guy at the counter was super nice and helpful.
(4)Candace E.
Excellent breakfast sandwiches. The coconut bagel breakfast sandwich was amazing, and the coffee was perfect and piping hot. Really great fresh local find. We will be coming back again during this trip to sample some other menu items.
(5)Bryan M.
Great food at a really good price, especially for Maui. I own/operate Maui's Private Guide and I often buy lunches from these guys for my clients. They take my orders over the phone and have it ready when I arrive. Everyone loves their sandwiches.
(5)Jeremy L.
Closest thing you can get to a bagel shop in Kihei. They have internet, sandwiches, smoothies, and coffee drinks, etc. More or less a typical cafe. It's not the greatest cafe I've been to, but it serves a niche purpose in Kihei that isn't otherwise met
(4)Jennifer M.
After stopping at Boss Frog's to pick up my snorkel set, we decided a little caffeine was needed before hitting the beach. Spotting Cafe @ La Plage we decided to head in for a quick cup of coffee. Their coconut latte was absolutely delicious, and a great way to start the day. Next time I'll have to try one of those coconut bagels the other reviewers raved about.
(4)Sophia M.
Well, basically, we ended up here almost every day. The panini are delicious. Sandwiches are so sophisticatedly good, I think I'm addicted. I can't even recommend my favourite because all of them are heavenly. The staff are adorable. Can I bring them back to Seattle? My favourite sandwiches: Pa'ia: chream cheese, avocado, roasted red pepper, lettuce, tomato & red onion Ho'okipa: hummus, roasted red pepper, black olive tapenade, red onion, cucumber & marinated tofu My favourite panini: Caprese: mozzarella, tomato and basil pesto Tuscan sun: goat cheese, roasted red papper, tomato Mediterranean melt: tuna with swiss and tomato Mona lisa: grilled chicken breast with roasted green chili and jack cheese Please, don't come here! Let it be my own little perfect morning spot for the rest of my vacation. *smirk* P.S. Dear bagelphile Dennis S. from Chicago, who gave the one star review to this sandwich heaven! This is a sandwich place, where they also serve BREAKFAST BAGELS. Get it? Breakfast bagels. Bagels with eggs. Why on earth would you try to purchase bagels from people who serve breakfast bagels? Do you go to sandwich places and try to buy their bread?
(5)Hana M.
Fresh bagels, delicious sandwiches and freshly squeezed OJ. Be prepared a wait a few...its not the fastest food- but it is well worth the wait.
(4)Jim W.
Just read a very unfair review from Dennis S. Cafe la Plage (French, the owner is French speaking) for Beach Cafe is in a former Bagel Shop. They are a restaurant now, not a bagel shop so to complain about them not selling you bagels is a bit unfair. Do you go McDonalds and ask to buy hamburger buns? I've gone here a few times and always had pleasant service and good food. No, it is not the Four Seasons but there is a fresh soup every day, good salads and good sandwiches at a reasonable price. Is this my impress a client place? No. Is it where I occasionally meet friends and have a pleasant meal? Yes. Oh, you order at the deli counter and they bring your food to a table when it is ready. No liquor.
(4)Jack K.
Great coffee, soup & bagels plus ambiance on the stereo and great service.
(5)Happy C.
Do NOT go here for breakfast. Mediocre coffee, and no real breakfast selections, just bagels and sandwiches. The sandwiches were Ok. The bagels aren't made on site. Kihei cafe is a much better bet for breakfast.
(2)Patricia Gail M.
Always very good. Tasty sandwiches, salads and maybe best of all... a staff that remembers what you like and cares enough to give it to you. The lady there today remembered that for salad I only like plain lettuce, and served it that way without me even asking. The prices are reasonable and food quality is excellent. Right across the street from the beach and plenty of parking. Check it out!
(5)Victor M.
Love the coffee, best place for breakfast. I visit Maui often & keep having most of my breakfast there.
(5)Angela P.
Service was terrible . We ordered a panini and salad. I was never asked what type of dressing to go on salad. When I remembered to ask him he said it was on the salad already . Take out salads should have dressing on the side. When I asked him to rectify this , he said I was unreasonable ? What small business would not want to make a customer happy for a 5.00 salad . This would of been a repeat sandwich place for us, although the panini 's were nothing special , but good ,we will not go back . If you like watered down coffee , have one here.

Breakfast or lunch is great. I had a killer, monster-size sandwich here with the gf although I cant remember the name of it

This was our cafe when in Maui. Super friendly service and excellent shave ice. In fact, it was the best I've found thus far! The outdoor seating area is quiet and pleasant. Can get a bit windy once the afternoon breezes pick up though. Have yet to try the food, we usually just came here for coffee, which is good, and the shave ice. They also have board games! I can get addicted to Connect Four, so I'm glad they had that. The Internet costs $3 for 15 mins. That seems to be the going rate in Kihei. They close a bit early on Sundays (at 3:00) and on other days it is at 5:00. So plan your cafe outings accordingly! We got let down a couple of times, being so used to Starbuck hours!
(4)Jude L.
Awesome coffee and the best coconut bagel ever. Chocolate Macadamia Nut Coffee was fantastic! Very friendly ownership and staff :)
(5)Laura J.
This is a review of their coffee drinks. We went there twice while in Kihei--the mochas were always very good--I'd definitely recommend. The only negative, is that most people were ordering breakfast, so that slowed down the line for coffee. But complaining about "slowness" while on vacation in Hawaii seems kind of lame...oh well.

So I've seen several businesses come in and go out of this location. When I first started it was just a bagel bar, then an internet cafe, and most recently it's become a sort of deli style sandwich place. The menu includes bagel sandwiches, panini, and normal sandwiches. I ordered a Chicken Caprese (chicken breast, tomatoes, pesto, cheese) and my dad ordered a Maui Melt (bacon, cheese, turkey, tomato, and jalapenos). The sandwich was the best panino I've had on Maui (that's not saying too much), and I really appreciate how Cafe @ la Plage is adding to the culinary diversity of Maui. The sandwiches were served with a side of green salad topped with a house vinaigrette. The vinaigrette was very very mild, I could hardly taste it at all. I was a little disappointed that it was only lettuce that looked like it came straight from Costco and didn't have any tomatoes, carrots, or anything to spice it up. The service was a bit slow because there were only two guys working there. Although they were really nice and friendly to all the customers who came in while I was there. The quiet atmosphere around the outdoor seating was really relaxing and everyone in the area was really friendly. Also, watch out for the prices because a three panini, two Arizona Ice Teas, and an iced coffee amounted to $36. Overall, I'd recommend this place for a quick bite before heading back to the beach. It also makes a great stop for an early breakfast on the way out of your condo before heading to your daily excursion.

This place makes my soul feel better. It's true they don't make enough bagels to sell you a dozen but, this is Maui they don't get enough trade to make that economically viable. They will make them special for you if you ask ahead of time, fair enough. The coffee and sandwiches are delightful and it makes the whole trip to the office worthwhile.

After reading my initial review on Yelp, one of the manager/owners - Christopher - contacted me, expressing concern about my experience. He was very apologetic, recommended macadamia nut as his latte suggestion, and invited me to come in to get a refund. I really, really appreciated his reaching out to me as a sign of a well run small business, and truly enjoyed the delicious coconut latte he made me when I returned. Thank you Christopher!

My friends & I tried this place a few years ago on our first trip to Maui as it was right near our rental place and loved it...we came back this year and were delighted to see that they are still in business and still as good as ever. We started every morning off there, and the owners and staff were just so helpful and friendly! The location is great too - right across from Kamaole Beach I. Coffee was great, and I was excited to be able to get an awesome cup on iced coffee somewhere locally owned (without having the resort to a Starbucks). The fresh squeezed orange juice was also fantastic! As far as the food goes, everything I had was excellent. The paninis are their specialty, and have to say they are better than most I've had Italian shops back east (the Mona Lisa and the Maui Melt were my two favs). The salad was just greens, but the vinagrette dressing they used (or maybe even made?) was really good. If you're staying in Kihei or even just passing through, I highly suggest stopping in for coffee or for picking up a panini to enjoy on the beach. PS, And for Dennis S: it ain't a bakery and it ain't Manhattan. It's a beach side coffee shop in Hawaii! If you need a bunch of bagels, go to the Safeway down the street! The fact that they even offered to let you call ahead next time just shows you how accommodating they are...the "losers" comment is just plain rude. Good to see that Maui vacation wiped the big city Chicago attitude right off ya...ahem.

Four stars for the super friendly guy and the funny signs and displays Three stars for capucino, it just didn't taste right. Five stars for price - two shot cappucino for three bucks?!? Their breakfast items looked economical as well, have to try it sometime. And they have this amazingly comfy leather sofa that can seat 6 people at least.. Always lovely in a coffee shop
(4)Kristina M.
This is a great little sandwich place in Kihei. The food is good, and the staff is really friendly. My favorite is the Hookipa and my fiancé LOVES the Tuscan Sun. I gave only four stars because it takes a while to get your food or coffee drinks. My fiancé would give them five stars, but he's not writing this review :) plus for the locals they have frequent buyer cards which is nice. Always a good place to stop for a bite to eat, I would recommend it.

Yummy. Very fresh, big menu. Great place for lunch.

so this is my first time here, it's a cute place! the couch is so comfy! the service was good and helpful, i just came in for coffee and didn't know exactly what i wanted. thank goodness he was helpful because they apparently make a whole bunch of different coffee drinks that i didn't notice on the menu! he mentioned that they make a blended drink with caramel, white chocolate, and mocha. i am not one for white chocolate or caramel so i asked if he could make me a mocha. he obliged and was gracious about the request. he brought it to me on the couch, and it's delicious! i'd come back again, and next time i'll come hungry!

Excellent service and Delicious sandwiches! It's so authentic here. I swear I am in Paris. From the humorous decor to the french workers, this place is amazing! This have to be one of my favorite sandwiches spots! Each sandwich was relatively inexpensive! Trust me when I say you will not regret coming here. We ordered a panini which had pepper jack cheese, chicken breast, jalapenos, and what ever else was on it. It was magnificent! Okay refreshment time... I am not a fan of anything that is caffine, but I needed a pick me upper, since I am on vacation so I ordered their white mocha blended drink and it was literally to die for. It was so delicious in my mouth I swear it was almost like swallowing a fluffy cotton candy. It literally melts in your mouth and travels to your tummy, which creates a tender smile on your face. It was so addicting, from that day on we kept coming back. haha!! DAMN coffee!!

5th time in Maui...and we just love this place. The staff is lovely and friendly (giving a shout out to Christopher:)!) Great bagel sandwiches! It's also great to support a locally owned cafe (not a chain, not a big hotel...). It's also very affordably priced. We will continue to visit on our visits to Maui:)...thanks guys!
