Two stars for the pool tables. Otherwise I would have given it one star. Shitty food, even shittier service. Try again.

Always had a good time at the Korner Bar. Great wait staff and always good cold beer. Foods good too, great fried zucchini. Mostly a locals hang out but seem to welcome visitors just the same.

Here's what you'll find: a clean, well-kept local pool bar with about 10 restaurant tables and booths. A well stocked jukebox. Friendly staff and a "standard" menu. I had a mahi sandwich, which had plenty of tasty fish (if a bit too much sauce). My wife had a Caesar Salad, which was beyond generous. A good place to stop for lunch.

You'll be fine if you stick to the burgers. Great neighborhood bar!

There aren't a lot of places up mauka to get a drink, so that alone gives Korner Pocket a good start. Extra bonus points for having Guinness on tap, and at reasonable prices. As previously stated in other reviews, there are a few pool tables as well as a digital jukebox and dart board. All of the bartenders and wait staff are friendly. I have never had bad service here. Dive bar, yes it is, but it's very welcoming and they serve up the best prime rib in Kona. If you haven't had it before, you would not believe it, but once you try it, you will be sold. This time we ordered calamari for pupus, it was pretty disappointing. $8 gets you about 12 pieces, mostly rings, and not very good. Skip it for something else. The other half ordered a pasta dish, which I also did not care for. I think the prime rib is so good, nothing else lives up to its level. The prime rib comes with a loaded baked potato, slice of garlic bread, steamed veggies and au jus. All in all, a great place to get a cold drink, and even better for an amazing prime rib. I cannot say it enough.

Heard about this place from Kona Boys surf shop. What a find! Great burgers. Cold Beer. Great customer service. I will be back!

As long as I've lived in Kona and right below the Hospital, I have NEVER been to the Korner Pocket. My mom frequents this place for the good food and hospitality and I wanted to start my Hawaii vacation with a bang! This place is in the same location as the Kealakekua post office, McDonalds, HFS FCU and West Hawaii CC. Take a turn down the hill and you'll see this joint on the corner of the 2nd left turn. The place is not the most promising, I can say that. When you enter, you'll see a pool area, a restaurant past that and a bar area to the right of that. From the neon signs, the hanging xmas lights and dim lights, this place is definitely outdated. Big screen tvs and projectors playing some of the sports games brings some life to the joint. Although I don't remember our bartender's name (Nalani?) she was the owner of the joint. Her entire family ran the place: husband was the cook, daughter (who lived in Montana) helped as a server in the restaurant. I'm always a good fan of family owned businesses. The bar included a few options for brews on tap. Super cold and refreshing, I chose to drink the coors light for around $5. For a podunk kind of place, they impressed me with the selection of beer on tap. For my meal, I decided to get the pasta stroganoff for $16.95, based on my mom's recommendation. I'm glad I did! This dish is prime rib slices and mushrooms in a sour cream sauce. The prime rib was more like chunks rather than slices, but I'm not complaining. The dish was absolutely delicious! The pasta was a flat fettuccine, there was a plethora of prime rib meat. Man, so flavorful and juicy! Lots of chopped button mushrooms all in a super rich dark gravy sauce. The dish was topped with a dollop of sour cream and served with two toasted pieces of French bread. I HIGHLY recommend this dish. Listen, in a place like this, things can tend to be hit or miss. It's a big area for just 2 people (or 1) to run, so be patient. Look around and remember where you're at. You're on one of the most laid back islands, in a joint that sits in the middle of podunk USA, Hawaiian style. At the end of the day, the food was delicious and the people made me feel like I was at home, literally! This used to be my home. Like I said, for the many years I lived here, I can't believe that I've never been here. Certainly coming back on my next visit!

Nalani, best waitress ever! Wicked margaritas. Helpful. Friendly. We picked their brains for local stuff to do and they were very patient. Must get asked a lot but didn't seem to mind.

The Korner Pocket holds the dubious distinction of serving up the worst meal on our recent trip to Hawaii. It was one of those rare instances when asking a local for a recommendation didn't pan out so well. My husband are all about "island time" but, honestly, our waitress forgot about us. We were the only people sitting in the dining area and she gave us menus... and then disappeared for a long, long while. So... before we had a chance to sneak out the back door, she arrived at our table with those drinks we ordered a half-hour ago. She seemed truly bothered that she needed to wait on us, as this was taking time away from chatting with her friends at the bar. My husband and I both ordered the same overpriced grilled ono sandwich ($10.50). Fifteen minutes later she brought one microscopically small sandwich on a Wonderbread bun and a small bag of crisps to our table. She had misunderstood our order and thought we'd wanted to share. If we weren't absolutely starving, we would've done just that, before having a second lunch at another cafe up the road. But our growling stomachs made us order a second overpriced ono sandwich, which took another 15 minutes. Unapologetic, our waitress never checked back with us until it was time to settle the bill. Learn from our mistake: don't waste your time or money here.

This place is pretty sad. We went there on the recommendation of a guy from Kona Boys after a wonderful morning kayaking and snorkeling in Kealakekua Bay on our second anniversary. I told the guy we were looking for "sandwiches and beer" and this is the best recommendation that he could muster. Gee, thanks. Apparently, "sandwiches" translates to "bland fish and some chopped iceberg lettuce on enriched buns" to these guys. I don't drink beer, but my wife's brew seemed okay. My drink (a Tanqueray and sour) was watered down and nasty. There are three or four pool tables, which is cool, but the only person playing was a grizzled old local guy who looked as short on luck as he was on hair. It was a rather sad scene watching this guy pay for pool with rolls of pennies. The service was horrible. The gal working the bar was also the waitress. She sent us to the back room by ourselves, far away from the bar, and then waited 20 minutes to take our order. We were about to sneak out and go somewhere else when she (unfortunately) appeared and took our order. Sweet lord, this is a dismal review. I swear, I'm really a happy guy in person. You should meet me someday. But this place was really sad. Do yourself a favor and go to The Aloha Angel Cafe up the street instead.

I love this Lil dive bar! The bartenders are super nice and on it! Great service with awesome food! The swiss onion soup is to die for and is made from scratch one of the best onion soups iv ever had! Pool tables, juke box, on Saturdays they got karaoke and $2 taco Tuesday's! Along with other specials. Korner pocket is what's up!

Unfortunately we have nothing good to say about the meal we had. The service was average. Nothing spectacular but the soup was canned, meat tasted like it was frozen and so were the veggies. Nothing was fresh or tasty. This was a $20 meal well overpriced and just not worth what we spent.

After waiting an hour for our food, we get a completely black burger, and ice cold tacos.

New owners. So far it isn't great. We are going to wait a few weeks before going back. The old owner was at least reliable even if it was just bar food.
