Overall, we had a great time here. We both ordered the burger and it was DELICIOUS! Aside from what others have said, I wasn't impressed with the cocktails. My husband and I arrived during happy hour so we decided to try the pineapple martini; it seemed single noted, just pineapple with no other flavors to enhance. Then I went for the Mai Tai which was pretty good - much better than the martini. We had a wonderful server who was attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable! We would definitely come back for the view, service, and food. Maybe just stick with beer and wine or drinks elsewhere.

We asked for table 31 or 32 and got one right on the ocean. The view was beautiful, the food was AMAZING - taste and quality. We were so taken care of. Also the red wine we got was to be remembered- called black horse

Beautiful location. We can here after our first day in Kauai with two exhausted kiddos. We were given a table outside. This was perfect with a view of the water, live music, and a lawn for the kids to dance around in. The food was excellent and the Mai Tai's were amazing!

  • David J.

First off the Mai Tai's are the best on the island, but strong so I highly recommend getting a few. My family ordered the burgers which were great and then the other two ordered the short rib which was awesome as well with the bacon infused rice. My only complaint would be the fries served with the burgers...I'm assuming either the restaurant ran out of fries for the day and they sent a bus boy across the street to get some Ore-Ida bagged fries from Safeway or this place needs to step up their French fry game. Other than that everything was amazing.

Once again, this place ROCKS. Some of the best cocktails we had the whole week we were in Kauai. Bartender super nice. Did not stay for food this time, as we had to leave back to Poipu. But you cannot go wrong with eating or drinking here. One of Kauai's hidden gems.

I would say it was good not great - we went for lunch and we both got fish tacos and a cocktail a piece (53$). The fish tacos we small and not filling but the taste was solid - not going to be blown away. I would only come back for the ocean view.

You can't beat the outdoor setting of this restaurant! Ocean break is literally a stone throw away. The food is fresh and comes with a great presentation. The place is good for all sort of occasions, from romantic diner to a family gathering after a long day on the beach. Keep an eye on their happy hour, it's short but sweet:). I liked their catch of the day. A half of the portion with an appetizer makes it a perfect combo. Overall it's a great place to have a brunch or diner with your loved one or/and friends and family.

My husband I were desperate for an air conditioned restaurant after sightseeing. This place didn't have ac but it's a great spot! In fact I don't think any restaurants in Kauai have ac. It's a small place on the beach with a great view and an ocean breeze. It was also a great spot to take our kids. They had clean functional highchairs and an excellent kids menu. I had a pastrami sandwich with kimchi that was great! My husband had ahi fish tacos. They were on the dry side. My kids had the steak and mashed potatoes. We had the bikini blonde beer on tap which was very refreshing. Entire staff was friendly. Jenny was our server. She was attentive and pleasant. Our food came out super quick which is always a miracle it seems when dining with kids. The music was pleasant and not too loud.

My expectations with oasis were far exceeded! We were enticed by happy hour and decided to dine here as well. Everything we ordered was top notch!!! I am a big fan of the restaurant which uses atleast 90% of their product raised or grown on Kauai land and sustainable. Our server Alicia was superb and very knowledgeable and timely with our orders. A perfect example of how a server should be! :) The food was amazing. Half portions are good if you are not that hungry and sharing with others, if you are hungry definitely get the full order as you may be disappointed with the amount you get in a 1/2. Nonetheless you are paying for quality sustainable food raised off this beautiful land. Great happy hour great service , a view you can't beat with affordable prices, well worth it !

We came here for the first time yesterday for their happy hour which is 4-6pm. The place was empty and the manager/male host seated us inside, when there were 5 open tables on the patio. When we asked to be moved outside he said they were completely booked with reservations that night. We stayed and had several cocktails over 1.5-2 hours and the tables never filled up! I've worked in the restaurant industry for awhile and when you don't have a reservation for a few hours, it's common sense that you give the customer what they want then provide fast, efficient service to flip the table in time for your guests. The service was OK, and the happy hour cocktail specials was 50% off with no appetizer specials. We came back later in the evening because the other restaurants we wanted to go to were full. The same manager/male host was at the front and asked us again if we had reservations (the restaurant still wasn't full). Every couple/family that walked through the door was asked if they had a reservation because "they were a full house." We didn't see the restaurant at full capacity the entire 4 hours we were there. They would make a lot more money if they weren't sticklers on reservations. Plenty of people wanted to dine here out on the ocean patio but were denied because of reservations from people who never showed up. The food was good, not great. They have a $7 side of bacon fried rice which was 1/2 cup portion which is OUTRAGEOUS. There's plenty of other amazing, local dining options in the area that I'll be sticking to, but the view here is certainly fantastic.

Wow !!! My boyfriend and I could not be more satisfied ! This beautiful beach side restaurant could not have been better ! The fish was amazing and the drinks we're the best we've had on the island !!!!the service was absolutely AMAZING !!!! Thank you so much for making our visit fabulous and being so courteous !!!

This place was amazing. Really great feel. Know it's on a hotel property so might be a little confusing to get to. But once you do it's beautiful and the drinks and food will transform you. The mai tai I had was probably the best I've ever had. Trust me, it was amazing. My wife's pineapple martini was good too, but more of a girl drink for sure. The seared catch (blue marlin) was damn good and the okinawa sweet potatoes that came with merited us ordering a separate side of them for dessert. And my boneless short ribs were otherworldly. So tender and flavorful and perfect with the fried rice it comes with.

Delicious! From start to finish. I would never have stopped here if it wasn't for the yelp reviews. One of the finest, artisinal mai tai's on the island. Try the curry with the catch of the day. I'll definitely be back!

This place is awesome! My wife and I are visiting Kauai on vacation and we were wanting to have a dinner date at a nice, but casual place near the beach...this was PERFECT. Went ahead and made a reservation and asked for a table by the beach. Was NOT disappointed. Loved it. Beautiful view of the ocean. Ordered the calamari for an appetizer......omg.....they cook it with this pepper-honey sauce. It was amazing. We also had the special for the night, ribeye cut of Eland from the "Forbidden Island"...very good, but a little tough cause it is a very lean meat. All in all...awesome. I would HIGHLY recommend it for a date. Go ahead and make a reservation for a table by the beach outside.

At their price point the food should have tasted better. The service and ambiance was great but the chef seems to be more focused on presentation instead of flavor. Below is the breakdown: Grilled kale, whipped brie, brioche crouton, pickled shallots, roasted shallot vinaigrette- the lowest point of the night- was not good at all (over seasoned) and didn't make sense, it looked pretty but wasn't cohesive Quinoa with sprouts, farmer's market vegetables- super salty, this would have tasted better if the prep had less salt Seared catch, Okinawa sweet potato purée, bok choi, truffle vinaigrette- it was a uku fish and it tasted fine but again the overall dish wasn't cohesive. The problem was that the sides didn't change regardless of the fish which was an issue in and of itself- the puree was too sweet and the overall dish didn't make sense together. The Mai Tai was ok. I wouldn't come back again and wouldn't recommend this place

This place is awesome. Kauai has pretty amazing food, but this place takes it to another level. Amazing craft cocktails - and I'm not really a hardcore cocktail guy - and really adventurous, locally-sourced food. My wife and I were blown away and incredibly happy that this place was about 150 feet away from our condo. Would highly recommend this place and Chef Sean Smull's work. Great job all around.

This place offers a great setting and view of the ocean. My wife and I had lunch and the food/service were good as was expected after reading other reviews. Give this place a try, it definitely will not disappoint.

Great little restaurant inside a hotel. Beautiful views and good selections on kid meals. They make great mai Tais also

Really delicious food made with fresh, local ingredients and served with a smile! We ordered the burger (made from all local ingredients..even the bun!), the grilled ahi with pumpkin hash and wing beans (so crunchy and yummy), and the banana apple spring rolls. Everything was super tasty! The view, ambiance and service were also fantastic!

This is a beach bar and restaurant right next to the beach behind the pool at the Waipouli Resort. To get to it, you have to go through the lobby, then walk to the left around the pool area. We were expecting standard fare here, but the food was some of the best I ate in Kauai, if not the best, and the drinks were absolutely top notch. Excellent variety on the menu, all locally sourced ingredients, and the chef certainly knows how to combine ingredients to create a balanced palate. The burger with bacon jam and ricotta is literally the best burger I have ever eaten. The drinks also were the best mixed drinks I had anywhere in Kauai. It was wonderful to have such fine cuisine accompanied by a relaxed atmosphere and the beach just out front. Reservations for dinner are highly recommended.

WOW I have been to Hawaii several times and in the Kapaa area all the time. How I missed this place i don't know! but I will go back! The ambience was nice and eclectic like I like. The service was on point and very friendly staff. This always makes the eating experience much better. But can we talk about the food. It was the best ever. Everything I had and everyone else at our table had was superb. I would make a res if you don't want to wait but even if you do you should.

I have been to Oasis on the Beach several times over the past few years and it remains the most consistently high quality restaurant on Kauai. The view out to the ocean is phenomenal. Absolutely beautiful. The food is outstanding. Fresh, local, thoughtful and delicious. They could probably offer a few more options for vegetarians, but what they do offer such as the Farmers Market Curry and the Quinoa Vegetable plate are very good. The grass fed beef burger is one of the best anywhere. The bar serves innovative and delicious cocktails made with local fruits and citrus. They make the best Mai Tai I've had anywhere. What really stands out at Oasis on the Beach is the service. Every time I've been here, the wait staff is friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. They go out of their way to make the meal enjoyable. It feels a little odd to walk through the hotel lobby and past the amazing pool to reach Oasis, but the destination is well worth it.

When first approaching this place, in what appeared to be a hotel, I was leery. But then, the most wonderfully skilled waiter arrived at our table and so passionately described the food and its local origin that we decided to stay. Ordered the following deliciousness: - calamari (spicy, great mix of flavors and texture) - grilled kale salad with roasted shallots and whipped Brie - burger with bacon jam, Dijon mustard, cheese - SO good - pumpkin mash - bacon truffle fried rice Packed filled with flavor and great customer service. Only recommendations are the food presentation and larger portions, with such amazing flavors, some of the plates looked like they were thrown together quickly and the portions were a wee bit small.

The best on the island! We stayed at the adjacent Waipouli Resort and heard that there was a restaurant on site. Thinking it was a snack bar with fried food and beer, we were VERY happy to find that not only do they have incredible drinks, their food was amazing as well! Friendly staff that takes time to craft some incredible drinks that were tasty, strong and the perfect ending to a day on the beach. We made friends there from all over the island since they, like we went there almost every night (at least for drinks). Great happy hour drink specials---try the daily martini specials and the Mai Tai was the best I have ever had--by far! Excellent local beef and fish at prices that were far more reasonable than we expected. Just trying to find a way to get back soon!

We stayed at the adjacent Waipouli beach resort. This place is a very nice open air seating. Food is good. Place is always busy so a reservation is recommended. Got turned away the first time since they were full, second time they were full again, but they accomodated us. Staff super nice as well. Our baby knocked over one of our cocktails, and they replaced it for us -- even though they really didn't have to since it was our fault. Greatly appreciated that.

Went for Pau Hana on Wednesday. I ordered the Pineapple Martini and the Pork Wontons. Both were delicious. In fact I indulged in a second Pineapple Martini because it was so good and only $5 for Pau Hana. Our server was very knowledgeable and made the specials sound amazing with his eloquent descriptions. The view was great and we didn't feel rushed. The reason I am only giving 4 stars is because service was really slow and the server gave us a bit of a hard time when we requested separate checks.

We had a wedding on May 22nd at Oasis on the beach it was extraordinary. Leigh the banquet manager orchestrated a perfect evening with our wedding planner Kaye. It was a most special evening she designed and coordinated the food into delicious tapas. We asked for a lounge style elegant yet casual wedding. She hit the mark perfectly! We blocked off the restaurant on a Friday afternoon betweven the hours of 3pm and 8:30 pm. She and her staff worked throughout the evening making sure that our guests were satisfied and happy! It was a magical and memorable event! Thank you Leigh and Oasis on the Beach staff for an unforgettable wedding event!!

Great place for a happy hour stop if you're around Kapaa between 3-6 any day. $3 beers, $5 hawaiian drinks. Picturesque beach-side seating. I wouldn't go far out of the way to get here but if you're driving by like I was a great choice for a stop.

Certainly the best location of any restaurant we've been to in the Kaapa area of Kauai. Great variety of dishes and options to half full and half servings which is awesome. I had the short rib which was delicious, and the wife had some amazingly fresh and tasty Ahi. The service is fantastic. Don't miss out.

This was the first place we stopped after landing on the island, and one of the very few places we returned to during the trip. The beer selection was very good, featuring local beers and others from around the country. The custom cocktails were also refreshing and delicious! We had several food items that were well presented and had a great flavor profile, including my favorite which was the local catch served in curry sauce. A very surprising combination that worked very well. Good food and drink aside, the real reason to stop by here is the amazing view. We were seated overlooking the beach and waves, while still being in the shade and benefiting from the cool refreshing breeze. It was the perfect start to a tropical vacation. We came back on a Wednesday evening and had the good fortune to be entertained by someone who is apparently a very highly ranked ukulele player. Needless to say we were laughing and singing and clapping (see above referencing delicious drinks). A must-visit

We wanted to love this restaurant so badly. We just did not have a good experience from the the get go. Parking and signage was not very clear. We walked all around resort until we found the restaurant. Restaurant looked like a cool nautical/tiki hut. We waited too long to be seated and did have a reservation. They seemed super unprepared and disorganized. The bar is in the middle of restaurant and did not smell clean. We sat at table and it took a long time for waiter to come take our drink order. Lillikoi martini was not good. Mai tai was good. They were out of foods on the menu and the fryer was broken for several days so there were no French frys. The portions were extremely small and food was just not good. Our waiter was nice but we won't be going back.

I was looking for a great place to take my wife for our anniversary and this place was perfect! I called ahead to make reservations and told them the occasion and they happily reserved us a table right in front of the beach. We had a great view. The food there is 90% local meat and vegetables which is terrific! Everything we ate was delicious and my wife and I agreed we would have to come back next time we are in Kauai. Thanks for the great experience!

Happy hour is very limited. Portions are very small. Service was marginal. The food was delicious. We were very impressed by the freshness of the food and the flavor was spot on. The view is spectacular. You will have to reserve a beach front table, but almost all the tables can see the ocean.

Excellent food ambiance! In a small island with not a lot of choices in happy I found this restaurant. They offer half size portions and the burger OMG so freaking good!!! They use local organic farm to table food - the beef is local raised on the island. The calamari was eh but the fresh catch and the burger amazing!!! The ocean setting is gorgeous. It's in a beautifully maintained condo resort.

One of my favorite spots to eat while in Kauai, so good that we went back for brunch the next morning. The service was good, and a decent space. The atmosphere is nice, and the view of the ocean is stunning if you go during daylight or sunset. Hardest + tastiest drinks on the island thus far, not watered down at all! One was seriously enough. I had the awesome grilled kale salad. The croutons seemed a little strange at first but the added crunch and homemade goodness were perfect. Next up was a tasty quinoa salad and perfectly made grilled veggies. Ended the evening with fried banana w/ cinnamon + caramel sauce (mmmmmmmmm...yum!).

This review is quite late but it is worth adding.. Stayed at this hotel/condos for my 50th so it was convenient to eat at Oasis on the Beach several times. My husband and I sat outside and had wonderful meals and drinks. I knew what I wanted from my birthday dinner, but I did not see it on their menu. I actually saw it at a different restaurant and sounded wonderful. Crusted Ahi. Our server, that served us every time we came in, took my request. To my overwhelming surprise it was better then I hoped for. He said as he was passing tables, bringing my dinner, customers wanted to know what that was on the menu. We are in Kauai again and am exited to see if it is the same! Will let you know. I was so pleased

I had a great ahi with I think some super interesting mash and beans, must have been some local stuff bc I've never seen it before and it was soooo good. Huge too, I probably should have gotten the half order. Finished every bite though. Our server was spunky and I absolutely loved her. Didn't try the desserts but my friends enjoyed them (they didn't seem all that inspired to me). The cocktail game was NOT strong and I wouldn't recommend that at all.

Pork wontons, spicy ginger soy, Seared catch, Okinawa sweet potato purée, bok choi, truffle vinaigrette,Grilled catch, kabocha pumpkin mash, wing beans with chermoula sauce,Omao lamb meatballs, red pepper cous cous & mint lime sour cream, Dark chocolate and Kauai coffee terrine with an absinthe & almond biscotti, two Mai Tais and a Thai Martini. That's what we ordered. First off the food was good. No complaints there. We really enjoyed all of our food. BUT the service is why I am giving them a reluctant 2 stars. When I pay more than $100 on my meal, I do expect a service that is paced well. The servers just were in a rush to get our food piled up high on our table, so we could finish eating and they could go home.. or somewhere important. I liked the food, thank you chef! But I did not enjoy the experience of eating it. My hubby really liked their drinks and ended up ordering a Thai Martini after his first drink got over. They brought it ..alright.. but they brought it out mid way during dessert. I think, the best thing for them to do would have been to just not serve it THAT LATE. They did. Hubby could not taste the flavors of the martini as we were eating dessert. So he asked for the server to bring something to cleanse the palate.. a slice of orange, bits of coffee .. anything.. She came up with two thin sticks of biscotti and added $4 to the bill. Needless to say I was speechless. Paid up. But she lost 5% on the 20% gratuity that I usually pay and kicked myself later. Should not have tipped for BAD Service.

If it weren't for the view, Oasis wouldn't even get two stars from me. Once we decided we only wanted app's with drinks for dinner, the staff literally ignored us...not even water refills. The food was mediocre, expensive, and just not with it.

I stayed here with a group of friends. We came into oasis for the happy hour, bartender was beyond friendly. Day after day. Night crew, just the opposite. I was told not to order from bartender. (Waitress didn't appear for 10 minutes). I ordered a Moscow mule, fine but you can't have a copper cup. We asked if we gave id, credit card and driver's license. We had to get a management approval. We returned hours later after dinner the bar was supposed to be open until 10. But when we asked the staff started looking at each other , nodding heads. No we are closed. Sorry Waipouli and Oasis if this is how you treat people who spend thousands. We won't return.

We decided to try this place because we heard it was the best mai tai on the island. As soon as we arrived, we were struck by the amazing location. You are close enough to the beach to hear the ocean and feel the salty breeze. This alone makes it a wonderful experience that not many other restaurants can offer. We didn't have a reservation, but they offered us a table if we could wait 10 minutes. We spent our 10 minutes on the beach staring at the ocean before sitting down at a nice table with a beautiful view. I ordered a mai tai, which was brought out promptly. I consider myself one of the cheapest people on the planet, and this is the first time that I could ever consider an $8 drink to be a bargain. It wasn't too sweet or too strong, but you could definitely taste (and feel) the booze. I ordered the wagyu beef burger, which I was told is the best burger in Hawaii. A statement like this does not do it justice. This is probably in the top 3 burgers that I have ever had anywhere. It is worth going back to Kauai just to get this burger again. Because everything was so delicious, we decided to order dessert (we typically only order dessert at the best restaurants in hopes that it may be good enough to be worth the calories). At this time I don't even remember what it was, but I do remember that it was delicious. We got 1 more mai tai to top it all off. The final bill was pretty expensive, but well worth it. Overall, everything about this experience including the food and drink quality, atmosphere, location, and service were perfect. I don't give out many 5 star reviews, but this one earned it.

Just had the Sunday brunch at Oasis. I ordered the Loco Moco and its was terrific! Best on the island that I've had. Grandkids had the apple banana pancakes and of course I had to try some. Really good! The view of the ocean and live music is s must. Highly recommended.

We went twice. Great view. Friendly and helpful staff. Don't go to the St Regis or whatever if you are celebrating, come here. Okinawan sweet potato chips (pupu): We got it both times, 5 stars the first time and 4 the second (the smoked cheese wasn't as evenly distributed). Truffle and bacon fried rice (pupu): 4 stars, solid. Give it a try. French onion soup: 2-3 stars, no real crouton, just a few cubes floating. I'd skip it for sure. Grilled Catch with pumpkin mash: 5 stars per my wife Vegetable Curry: 5 stars per my wife, the half serving was more than enough when paired with an app and a salad. Chef's Cut - NY Strip: 3 stars. It wasn't evenly cooked (one side was medium rare while the other was well done. Not enough sauce on the plate to even really taste it. Spinach was super plain but cooked just enough. Pork Chops: 6+ stars. Simply the best pork chops I've ever had. If you eat pork, you gotta try these. I kept thinking there was some amazing seasoning on them but it is just the flavor of the pork... I was shocked to find out it only had salt and pepper on it. Easily one of the top ten meals I've ever had. Food orgasm for sure.

I forgot to do a review on this last time I stayed here. I wish I had, because as my order came out, I quickly remembered the negative previous experience. In short, the servings were paltry and flavors weird/blah/yuk. Here is the breakdown of my poo-poo variety ordered: 1. Fresh catch tartar bruschetta-ok, but probably because of the butter crusted bruschetta. The avocado puree sauce was similar to a sauce i would expect from a packet. Fish was fresh, but hard to tell from the 3 pieces mixed with a pile of onions. 2. Fresh catch crudo-not good at all. Plate looked like the spilled the food on it and threw some edible flowers around. Salsa verde was messed up flavor combo...don't understand anything about this dish. On a positive note the 3 pieces of fish spilled onto the plate were fresh. 3. Pork wontons-not sure how you can mess something up that is so easy. Wontons were bland but what little i tasted seemed to have a burnt flavor in the background...almost like the fry oil was old. Sauce was overpowering and dominated everything. 4. Crispy Okinawan sweet potato chips-surprisingly the best thing outside of the $3 longboard happy hour beer. Sliced thin and crispy. The poblano cheese tasted like something from a can, but still palatable and the best value for the $7.40. On a positive note service and scenery was great, but I could have bought a case of beer, a pound tuna poke, fried some won tons/sweet potato slices, cracked a jar of cheese sauce and sat on my lanai for 1/4 of the price. Mental note to self...don't come back next year ...except for $3 beers at happy hour...those are good.

Food was solid but overpriced in my opinion. They do offer a burger for dinner that is more reasonably priced. Interesting ingredients used. The service was outstanding. Our waiter gave really helpful recommendations and engaged us in interesting conversation.

Great view, check. Nice ambiance, check. Food, meh. My husband had the burger..he said it tasted weird hmmm. I had the boneless short rib half plate and it was like a piece of dry pot roast over some fried rice that tasted like ketchup. Not a memorable dinner and a little pricey for food that wasn't necessarily good. Also I had the Thai martini, can't say much for that one either, it just tasted odd like the mix of those liquors wasn't a good blend. Also on a side note the kitchen is separate from the restaurant and it's located in a weird little pool house..not sure why this disturbs me but it does. If you want drinks and an amazing view then this is your place, if you want dinner there are better places.

Delicious food, beautifully presented. Exquisite view of the beach. The restaurant is open on all sides with high-end furnishings and every table has a view of the water. 4 stars not 5 because it is very expensive and portions are tiny. Also, it can be a bit inconsistent. Brunch/lunch was awesome but we had dinner one busy night and several things were off and shouldn't have been for a high-end restaurant. Also, the servers are mostly nice but do have an attitude of "this is how we do it, you're asking too much of us if you want it differently." Would definitely go back again as the missteps were minor, not deal breakers.

I really depend on yelp and was really excited to eat here but this was one of our worst meals we have had in Kauai. The calamari was overcooked (that should've been the first sign that we needed to leave) the kale salad was bitter and tough and our fish was cold. So,we sent our fish back and said we would pass on having them prepare it again. It didn't look good, the squash purée should have been Orange and it was dark brown. Plus after the bad appetizer and salad we figured we wouldn't waste any more money. They acted as if they were doing us a huge favor taking the entrees off our bill but we never even had the entree. Everyone was very nice but nobody really seemed to care. We did have a great bottle of wine for $55. Don't waste an evening on this place.

Great casual/nice dining with a wonderfully unique bar made from an old wooden catamaran. Crisp flavors and simple but attractive presentations on the entrees. The seared catch of the day is fantastic.

12/1/13. Dinner Oasis is located in the Waipouli Resort in Kappa, right off the Kuhio Highway. Like many restaurants in Kauai, they served Asian fusion and island cuisines. But the gluten free options really make them stand out in my book. We were promptly seated at our ocean front table for our 5:30pm reservation. Jessica, our sever, is warm, attentive, and detail-oriented. After taking our mai tai and martini order, she returned to answer questions about menu, specifically how fish was prepared. Pork Wontons ($11): four envelops of deep fried wontons with marinated pork filling, like in potstickers. They were crispy and bit greasy, serfs with a spicy ginger-soy dip. Pretty tasty. New York Strip ($32): cooked medium rare and served with grilled vegetable. Let just say it's no filet mignon and it's more fatty compared to a filet mignon but it served the purpose. The BF doesn't eat fish so he always gets the beef/steak. *Farmer's Market Vegetable Curry with Fresh Catch ($29): I had an Oh-my-god moment when I tasted the first bite if the vegetable curry. It's a buttery yellow curry with diced eggplant, zucchini, taro, and bell pepper. The fresh catch was a pan-seared ahi that is pink inside but crust outside. I opted for the 3-oz fish addition but they also offer a 6-oz. Served with a scoop of jasmine rice. I licked the plate clean! The unexpected portions left us no room for dessert. So Jessica brought us the check and we were more than happy to top her the 20% we usually reserved for excellent server back home. Oasis is another gem in Kauai after the nearby Hukilau Lanai. All entrees at Oasis are available in half and full portions, with the exception of the New York Strip. Food is tasty. The house cocktails are half off drying happy hour from 4 to 6 pm. Get there early to grab the ocean front tables!

This has it all. Epic food. Incredible oceanfront view, tremendous service. Best food in all of Hawaii and beyond. I would say it is in my top 3 good experiences.

The service we received from our waitress Lee and the server Elijah was AMAZING! They went out of their way to make our anniversary dinner special. The food was perfect; we had the clam appetizer, catch of the day, Ono and the short ribs and for dessert the bananas eggrolls. I would highly recommend Oasis. Can't wait to go back.

Best meal we had in Kauai. Amazing setting, friendly staff, and great food. The swordfish was amazing. The maitais were the best we had on the island.

Came here for appetizers and drinks on a previous trip and decided to stop back on tbisthis trip, but this time for brunch. Went with the fish tacos - the fish of the day was ono and it had great flavor. The slaw and avocado on the tacos also was great. I also went with a bloody mary to drink and I really liked it because it was spicy. A great note of customer service: we ordered a dessert and for whatever reason it was forgotten and we were waiting for about 15-20 min for it to come. They ended up getting us the dessert and took care of it for us due to the wait - great touch and the right thing to do.

Such gracious accomodations for my wife and I. We dozed off the couple of times we sat on chaise lounges at the shoreline amidst shady trees, grass and gentle waves rolling in.

Came here for dinner. Ambience and location were nice, waiter was friendly and the cocktails were fantastic. The food was mediocre. Calamari was cold and chewy. Wontons were cold and sent back. One fish dish (Ono) was cold and sent back and the braised beef was dry (badly needed sauce or gravy). Sauces can make a dish. All of them were lacking moisture. We realized why our appetizers were cold, the waiter spent far too much chatting with his table, which is good service but bad for execution of the hot food to waiting tables. Maybe a food runner would help. Until they correct some of these issues I wouldn't go back.

If on my way there you had told me that I was going to order a burger I would laugh at you. As was being seated I saw that burger plate passing by... And I knew what was going to happen next. It is a en easy contender for best burger I've ever had. Pretty nice outdoor setting and good service as well.

If you're on your way to Kapaa make sure you stop in to Oasis for lunch or dinner. Don't get me wrong, downtown Kapaa is a great spot to visit, but you're in Hawaii for a reason, right? Oasis is beach front, has excellent food, and awesome service!

Great bar and restaurant on the beach. You can sit and watch the waves. The happy hour has inexpensive draught beers and foo-foo drinks. Great service and gourmet food. We had the fish tartar and the lamb meatballs; both very good.

Excellent food. They offer small portion options so you can enjoy without gorging. Waiter and hostess made it a memorable evening. Seated center stage overlooking the water we couldn't have had a nicer evening. Definitely a place we will return to.

This was our first time to visit this restaurant. We were drawn to it by the dishes described in the menu. Sorry to say the execution of the dishes did not meet the descriptions expectations. Atmosphere: Really nice. Open air concept with many tables either outside or in the expanding doorways looking out. Tables are well spaced so unless you have a party group next to you the noise level is very acceptable. Service: Friendly staff who are attentive and not intrusive. Helpful with describing the menu options and offering suggestions. Bar/Wine List: Full bar with some unique specialty drinks. The wine list is almost non-existent. Not any good selections and am not sure if pricing is fair since I had never heard of any of the wines offered. Food: This is where our disappointment shows. The food offered was fresh and well presented. I have no real complaint with quality or with the food being served matching the descriptions in the menu. The execution of the dishes has a lot to be critical about however. There was not enough salt in any dish and seasonings were not on the table. The broth in the clams dish was bitter due to using a poor quality wine probably. The shrimp étouffée was really just shrimp and rice in a broken roué. Some heat but no real flavor. The fresh catch bruschetta lacked an acid leaving it flat tasting. The one bright spot was the beet and arugula salad. Overall, it was an extremely nice time with my spouse in a nice setting eating poorly prepared food which was therefore overpriced.

What great ambiance and fabulous food! I had the steak which was cooked to perfection and had amazing flavor. My wife had the catch of the day was perfect as she described it. Drinks were great and our server, Adam, was attentive, funny and couldn't have given us better service. You never know with a restaraumt attached to a hotel or condo complex, but Oasis was fabulous. The prices were relitively reasonable and the small plate options on most of the dishes allow you to keep it a little cheaper but still enjoy a fabulous meal. If we had a complaint it was a bit chilly from the breeze off the ocean, but that was quickly solved by partially closing a door. Highly recommended!

The views will take your breath away! We dined many times here while staying at Waipouli Beach Resort and tried almost everything on the menu - everything was great. We were always 100% satisfied with food, drinks and service - made our Kauai experience more pleasant. Almost never missed 4-6pm happy hour! Would highly recommend.

This place was nice! There is a live band on Wednesdays starting at 5 I believe. We got there around that time, and sat at the bar since all the tables were taken. Their cocktail menu was pretty good (spicy mango manhattan is recommended!) and the entrees were awesome (grilled ahi/ sweet potato soufflé and ribeye) the staff was attentive and the whole place was lively and fun.

Oasis was an odd experience. The restaurant is located inside a resort. Or rather, through the lobby and past the pool. Our party of three arrived sometime between 4 & 5pm, planning to stop for dinner and drop my brother at the airport to return to school afterward. The restaurant was pretty empty; more employees than patrons. The hostess was arrogant and acted snooty when she learned we were walk-ins. I'm sure it was extremely difficult for her to seat us near a door amidst the obvious hustle and bustle. Our waiter was extremely awkward. His manner was not hospitable so much as flighty. When I mentioned we would be sharing an appetizer and then proceeded to tell him what entree I wanted, he asked my fellow diners if they wanted the appetizer brought out at the same time. First of all, hello, speak to me, I was just talking. The boys do not need to give you permission to take my request. Second of all, hello?, the three of us were going to share an appetizer and then eat our own entree. This is pretty standard behavior and I didn't explain it in any strange fashion, so... We started with a tuna crudo, which was quite tasty though not more than a mouthful and a half per person. I ordered the grilled catch of the day. What I ate isn't listed on the website, but it was delicious. I had a half portion of ono grilled that was accompanied by a kabocha puree and arugula with a vinaigrette. Kabocha, a local squash, is super tasty, with a hint of nutty flavor and a subtle heartiness. My brother had the pan-seared catch, I can't remember which fish it was, and I know he liked it. I enjoyed a signature cocktail, a local beer, and one of the dessert ports. Well, I didn't quite enjoy the port, but that is neither here nor there. Our meal (app + 1/2 portion entree + 2 entrees + 2 ports + 6 drinks + 2 desserts) came out to around $160. Two or three more small groups showed up. The bar, which is pretty cool, shaped like the front of a boat, slowly peopled with old white men (predominantly). The meal was pleasant with a sweet breeze coming off the shore. Service was just not there. That's not entirely true. One guy stood out. The person busing tables was really great, professional, and took a drink order when our wonky, cheesy camp councilor-esque waiter disappeared for a bit. Also, I liked his beard. Good beard, guy.

We took our cue from the Ultimate Kauai Guide Book and Yelp. UKGB says "they have an awesome, breezy location next to the beach in front of the Waipouli Beach Resort" and then instructs you to park alongside the resort and walk along a beach path to the restaurant. If I had known that the restaurant was actually a part of the resort I would have never gone. Waiter claimed locally sourced. Who would have known? Food presentation was mediocre. Food quality was equal to that. And for my two cents, a dinner that will cost me over $100 shouldn't be presented with paper napkins. Location was great - a super ocean view. But service was spotty. He dropped the bottle of wine on our table and never poured another glass. Dropped the check and in his world, we were out. Meh.

Such a gem in what seems like an unlikely location. It is rare to find such a cutting edge cocktail list and menu in a hotel -- but Oasis is truly an oasis! The Mai Tais are the absolute best on the island (perhaps in the world) and the food is locally sourced, showcasing the abundance of Hawaiian ingredients with a very creative, modern flair -- though still simple and not overdone. The food highlights: The fresh ahi crudo, the charred kale salad with whipped brie, the fresh catch, seared over silky smooth okinawa sweet potatoes and bok choy with a zingy, light soy glaze. The goat cheese panna cotta with candied hibiscus flowers is as beautiful as it is delightful to eat. The cocktail highlights: all of them! Honestly! Their use of house made infusions and syrups along with a modern, craft take on classic tiki, makes for wonderfully nuanced cocktails, that are dangerously easy to drink. Combine all the above with a killer, in the sand, ocean view and open air atmosphere and you might think you've landed in a real heavenly oasis.

Just okay. The happy hour is half off a few of the cocktails which is a great deal since they're about 10-12$ a pop. The pineapple martini was scrumptious. For food we got the fresh catch on bruschetta (eh), the half portion pork chop (pretty good), and the kale salad (yucky). I'd recommend going for the drinks and ambiance; can't beat the view

I had my birthday dinner at Oasis on the Beach and it was amazing. We went the family style/tapas route because we all wanted to try everything. I love that Oasis is a strong supporter of local agriculture / famers and they purchase local fruits, veggies, beef, lamb.. Our server Henry was outstanding. He made sure not a glass was dry and very attentive. Oasis offer a Half and full portion options which make things affordable. Dishes I LOVE Starters: - Clams, giner pork sausage, cilantro - This was my favorite - if youre going to choose one starter this would be the one highly recommended - Pork Wontons- very stuffed and so crispy - Fresh Catch Bruschetta - Caprese salad Main Dish: - Farmers market curry w/fresh catch - THE BEST fish curry I have EVER had in my life-** my favorite dish here** - seared catch, okinawa sweet potato puree - grilled catch kombocha pumpkin mash - Omao lamb meatballs w/ cous cous - Grilled Makaweli NY strip Desserts: -Dark Chocolate and kauai coffee terrine & almond biscotti - the dark chocolate and coffee was so rich i loved it **favorite dessert -apple banana spring roll w sea salt gelato - the sea salt gelato was the best salty sweet dessert ive ever had. i think its 'seasonal' but if they have it you should definetly try it

Great place- don't be put off by the fact that it's off the beaten trail, and what appears as you're walking to the restaurant from the parking lot to be a cheesy poolside bar at a three-star at best hotel- it isn't - it's much MUCH better than I thought from my first impression. The service was very professional and the hamburger was the best I've had on the island.

  • Peter G.

What is a half-order? The entrees here come with "full" or "half" options. Had the seared ahi. Had it elsewhere better for less. Had a deconstructed ravioli. Good interpretation, well executed. Have the burger. Bacon jam anyone? Really good. Prepare to drink water for the rest of the night though. Would have rated this 4 stars if the meal didn't dent the wallet as it did for what we got.

Best Mai Tais ever, do not go anywhere else for Mai Tais. Food and presentation is excellent. Henry provides superb service and is knowledgeable, outgoing, and made our dining experience 100x better. Love the views and the food! Best restaurant in Kauai.

My goal in writing this is to prevent people from wasting their money here. If you're staying at the resort, resist the urge to eat here just because you feel there aren't better options. Go to L&L across the street if you're really tired and hungry and get a plate lunch or dinner meal. YES, this place is oceanfront.... but you can't sacrifice the food quality or overall experience "just because" this place is on the water. Exactly 5 years ago, my husband and I were married right on the beach directly in front of the Waipouli Resort and what other place to clank Mai Tai cocktails during our anniversary than the place where it all started? We walked in after spending time on the beach wanting to partake in Happy Hour. The sad thing is our server was AWESOME with a friendly attitude. Happy Hour here is ONLY for select drinks and NO food. With this being Hawaii and all, ironically Mai Tais were EXCLUDED from HH. Say what?? 5 years ago this place served up large Mai Tais in hurricane glasses with a fresh pineapple wedge on the glass. Since then, the entire menu has changed and the Mai Tais are now served in rocks glasses with a tiny wedge of lime all for the bargain price of $12. blah Now for the food, we embraced the fact that we were on vacation and ordered a few appetizers. The catch of the day was Ahi so we ordered the ahi tartare bruschetta and fried calamari supposedly tossed in a soy-ginger-honey-chili sauce. Ahi tartare was teeny tiny... 3 small pieces of toasted crostini with very little tuna on top for $12 and the fried calamari was a joke. 3 tentacles and approximately 10 rings with no sauce on the side and no lemon.... just barely tossed in said sauce.... that was $11. The only thing this place has going for itself is it does has a great view, but you can go to Safeway across the street and pickup a bottle of wine and sit in the beach chairs provided a stone's throw away from this crappy restaurant you can have yourself a better time and not feel gipped. The dinner menu was small with just a few items and gives the illusion that it could be good, but based on our experience with HH I'm not willing to check it out. You're on Kauai, there are much better places to eat!

My husband and I dropped in for happy hour the location and view are amazing. We had a couple drinks each while sitting at the bar. We had such an awesome time and experience that we opted to make reservations for our 7 year wedding anniversary a few days later. It's like we went to a totally different place when we returned. The service was clunky and slow. Our food came out separately. My husbands steak came out much later than my food and it was cooked well not mid rare. He sent it back, he was very upset by the time the next one came out. I think they bought us a round of drinks, which was nice, but still. It was a disappointment, and our last night on the island.

We ate here a few times during our stay because of the location. It is directly on the beach! We came for lunch with the kids, drinks with the hubs, and dinner one night. Food and drinks were good and used fresh local ingredients! I would highly recommend hitting it on a night that they have live music. When we came for dinner they had a ukulele player and he was amazing! Everyone was having a great time dancing and hanging out together...even the kids had a great time. Get there early though! We got there after the performance started and had a short wait but the staff was super accommodating! Fun experience on the beach!!!

Great food. Excellent service. You can order half portions of the main dishes, then mix and match amongst a great selection of dishes. The fresh catch tartar was exceptional. The short rib was to die for! Our server, Henry, was the most welcoming and knowledgeable connoisseur we've encountered in a long while. He truly believes in his product and has a wealth of knowledge about all beverages and food items they serve. And the VIEW! An experience we will surely remember.

Oh my gosh, this restaurant was fantastic!! We had our wedding on Shipwrecks beach in Kauai and chose this restaurant to eat at afterwards. We had 15 people and our server Lee was amazing- fast service, great explanations of the menu and very friendly. We were late and the restaurant was accommodating even though we stayed past closing time. I will say some of the food, though it tasted amazing, could have been hotter. But that's a minor detail to me. Can't wait to visit this place again and I highly recommend it for large parties!

If I could use profanity I would!!! The manager is such a rude person and completely immature! Do not waste your time or money here. We tried to report this jerk with the hotel manager but this place is separate from the hotel. If it's the view you want, go somewhere else!!! The overpriced drinks are awful and IT IS NOT THE BEST MAI TAI ON THE ISLAND!!! It looks like muddy water that took way too long to make! Go to Dukes or Kalapaki Joes!!!

Appetizers are way over priced, and are tiny portions. Drink specials during happy hour are painfully limited. Although the few deals on a few drinks are decent. So why the 1 star you ask? Well, the waitress was nice and super friendly to our party of 10. About two rounds in, she came to the table with two red wines on a tray. She fumbled one and spilled it all over one of party. In an effort to grab the spilt glass, she dumped the second one on another member of our party. She was very sweet and we weren't upset. No big deal, but our two stained guests retired to their rooms in the resort for a quick shower and full change of clothes. In the confusion and cleanup, the waitress did not fully wipe the chairs properly on which she has spilled. When our guests returned, they sat, and commenced ruining shirt number two with drops of red wine in the chair grooves. Four shirts, two shorts... stained. The first spill ruined two shirts and shorts for certain. We weren't really that upset but when the manager (asst) showed up, Eric, he was not sympathetic. He offered a $50 credit. That wouldn't even cover half the damage done to clothes. Our total bill was close to $200 for apps and drinks. We aren't the people who ask for free stuff but your mistake should be covered in full as the restaurant. We explained that we understood it was an accident, but we asked him if there was a little more he could do considering the 6 items of clothing. He refused and brushed us off. The guy was a huge jerk. If you're at Oasis, you probably don't own $10 Walmart tees. So a $25 to $40 shirt is probably a better estimate. I think a $100 credit would have been fair, or maybe even comped another couple rounds. Something, anything, to show you appreciate your costumers. We did not return to oasis, despite staying on property. We think that Eric needs a lesson on being an assistant manager, or needs to chose another profession.

Food was ok, service good/people nice, mellow vibe, and location is amazing! Truly beautiful. It's price is on par with other similar restaurants in area. Recommend caprese salad and requesting wing beans with your entree. Would recommend and will likely go again. 3.5 stars.

We started off with an order of the pork wontons which were very tasty. The main entree was the catch of the day - a fillet of ono which was very well prepared. Add a friendly service staff, a few bottles of Longboard beer, and a view of whales breaching to produce one great dining experience .

The food was pretty good, but what really stood out was the excellent Mai Tai- made with fresh fruit squeezed juices, and plenty of high quality rum. They also had a local IPA on tap. They were out of the local goat cheese for the salad, so had to substitute with Parmesan or cheddar; not exactly an ideal swap selection. They also only had Ahi that day, but it was fresh and tasty. It is my new go-to spot on the way up to Princeville after flying in, now that Scotty's is (and has long been) closed... I should also add that the Ambiance is really nice; beautiful hotel grounds to walk through, nice ocean view, outdoor dining. its worth the bit of extra $ to come here rather than Olympus in Kapaa town...

What a great find! Overlooks the ocean and had the perfect breeze coming through. We ordered the bacon and truffle fried rice - DELISH! Although note that it is $7 and I thought I'd get a plate of it, but it is literally 1/2 cup of rice. Also ordered the kale salad which was a generous portion and wonderfully prepared (plus, you don't see kale on very many menus in Kauai so it was a treat!). And Gabrielle the bartender could not have been a better hostess at the bar. Chatted with us about touristy things to do on the island and where to snorkel - all the while manning a very busy bar! Thanks for rounding out our great experience!

We can for happy hour and were really glad we did. The views are stunning! We got a table on the patio with a direct view to the ocean. Our server was very friendly, informing us of the seasonal, fresh specials and happy hour items. Appetizers were half price and signature cocktails were discounted. I tried the raspberry martini and my hubby got a Caballero made with muddles mint and tequila. We tried a corn fried rice with tenderloin along with a terrine of goat cheese, both seasonal specials made with all local ingredients. Both were very fresh and tasty, artfully presented tapas-style. I loved relaxing with the serene view. They had live music that night - a really talented ukulele player. Definite worth a visit. Prices are a bit higher so I'd recommend happy hour if you just want to try out the place.

My family and I came here for dinner for the first time and were very very disappointed. I ordered the arugula and beet salad and the greens were old and browning. I could not believe they actually served this salad. And for $13!! I live here and I know what fresh arugula from the farmer's market looks like and this was embarrassing that they were presenting this arugula as local. Although I have never sent anything back in my life, I did do it this night. I also ordered the half order of fish curry and white rice for $19 and I was appalled that they served rice which was yellowing and crusty. The $16 cheeseburger my daughter ordered was also horrible! My daughter had a few bites and could not eat anymore. My husband and I both tasted it and for some reason, it tasted goaty like goat cheese sometimes does. To top it off, when we got our check, the waitress still charged us for the arugula salad I returned! Overall, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had in all my 18 years living on Kauai.

Just returned from dinner at Oasis. Party of 4 professional adults. 1. Server unable to answer simple questions. 2. Advised up front that portions are small. 2-3 ounces per serving. 3. advised menu items are best if "shared". 4. requested bread with salad - "not provided" nothing offered 5. entrees are unreasonably small. not enough to share even if considered. not enough to hardly see on the plate. 6. waiter left without explanation. there we sat - alone and hungry. 7. advised no problem to split the checks before we ordered. 8. advised after our meal - unable to split the check 9. refused American Express card 10. we left hungry - went to MacDonalds for burgers and ice cream. After hundreds of dining experiences - this was the worst. Not only unbearably small portions, but uncaring staff. If your hungry and in a good mood - go somewhere else . . . . FAST! aloha . . . . .

Beautiful view, great food, great service. We stayed at the Waipouli Resort where Oasis on the beach is located so we were thrilled when the restaurant turned out as great as other reviewers reported. I would give it 5 stars but they need a few more kid friendly bites at lunch and/or on the appetizer list to get the 5th star. (My kids did enjoy the dinner menu though.)

Hidden little gem...was referred by our hotel. Beautiful Oceanside location with a nice Romantice ambience. Food was delicious from appetizer to desert. Pretty much all ingredients were local and fresh. To add to the fabulous food the service was the best that we've had in a very long time. Would definitely go back the next time we are on island

Best Mai Tai ever. If you disagree with me you can fly to Alaska and we can duke it out. The Mai Tai has all sorts of ingredients including i believe tears of virgins. The price is on the high end. The view is great. Make reservations for beach front table, or you can walk in and get a good table with a beach view. Service was great which is hard to find in Kapaa. The burger was juicy.

I have never liked Mai Tai's, until now. Housemade orgeat, lillikoi from the farmers market- unreal! Had the curry with the fresh catch & a glass of Gewurtztraminer that my server recommended- perfect!

We truly enjoyed our dinner at Oasis on the Beach. They are working hard to produce lovely cuisine prepared with beautiful, local ingredients. Our server was also one of the farmers working to supply the restaurant and his passion was evident. The portions are not huge (which was fine with us) as we were able to try more items. We took advantage of the $35 per person tasting menu, which allowed us to choose three items from any part of the menu. I chose a wonderful grilled kale appetizer, the grilled catch of the day and the lamb pot pie. All were delicious with clean, pronounced flavors and wonderful balance. We shared the s'mores dessert and it was sublime. We would definitely return; this was one of our favorite meals in Kauai.

I will prefice my review that I am a caterer and VERY picky about food and service that I am spending my hard earned catering dollars on! Ryan-bar manager-absolutely great! Funny, personable, great cocktail maker and service extraordinaire!! Chef Zack...one of the most talented young chefs that I have ever seen! Almost everything on the menu is from Kauai and you can taste the freshness. I saw a tuna that was in the cooler that was caught that morning...FRESH! Food was awesome, service was even better!! DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE!!

First thing to know is that Everything is small plates, so you need to order two or three items. If the server doesn't tell you that, you will be mighty disappointed. Oh, but those two or three things are soooo good. We were there a couple of months ago, so I don't remember everything we had. So sorry. There were six of us so many different dishes were tried and everything was great. I had the beef cheeks and carrot flan and it was excellent. I am a sweetaholic and the ginger creme brulee was to die for. Mmmmmm. You can't beat the location. Right on the beach with a postcard or movie view. Speaking of movies, I just saw a special on ABC about Hawaii and the movies and they did a piece on this restaurant because apparently Johnny Depp ate here while filming the last Pirates movie. They said his favorite dish was the charred Ahi. Anything J.D. likes is mighty fine to me. Just sayin'.

What a treat! My wife and I took a chance with drinks and appetizers (we stayed in the resort). The food was amazing! Per their menu, 85% of the food originates in the local community. We had the Kauai Shrimp Cakes, a 3 oz beef special, and house salad. All delicious. We brought our young kids there last night, and they enjoyed the kids menu while we had adult food. Dessert was three creme brûlée. Kona, Ginger and liliquai (sp) and all were fantastic. The only knock is the very limited wine list, and all by the glass. The wines we had were ok, but not the quality we're used to. Atmosphere was nice, with live music, beachfront setting, and breezy open setting. Worked well, except during sudden downpour the second night. But, the closed the glass doors and all was well. Will be back on our next trip to Kauai.

Stayed at the resort where the restaurant is located and we went to Oasis 4 out of the 5 nights we were there. Popped in for a drink to check the place out and the service/friendliness of the staff caught our attention first. They treated us like we were regulars even though we were mere tourists from the mainland. ; ) The food is outstanding. We had a great time slinging back some yummy cocktails while the bartender and manager gave us the lowdown on where to visit on the island. We had our 2 year old and 13 year old niece with us on the trip and even THEY approved! We will soooooo be back...can't wait to be treated at the Oasis again soon. And for all the folks complaining of small portion sizes?? C'mon....learn to control your portions and enjoy really good food. If you want a large plate, hit up the Applebee's or TGI Fridays on the mainland. This is how we all should eat....delicious food in portions that don't make us want to forego the bikini the next day. I ordered 3-4 plates of apps with my hubby and we were both perfectly content.

This is a locavore paradise. Oasis has been around for a little over a year in its current form. 85% to 90% is local produce. The restaurant is right on the ocean. Amazing food. Favorites are the pork belly and anything that is local fish. The Thai Martini is delicious.

We went there for my birthday. The bartender Ryan made us some amazing cocktails and suggested some really yummy wine. Everything is Tapas style and incredible! We WILL go back!

We made an unexpected dinner stop at Oasis on the Beach on our way back to Poipu after completing the Hanakapi'ai Falls hike. Needless to say we were pretty tired by the time we arrived, but we were immediately seated at a table for two with a tiki torch and an ocean view (it was dark, but you could kind of see it in the moonlight!). This would have been an incredible table in the daytime but we were pretty happy with it at night too! The food was better than expected. It started off with two great first courses in the fritter and brie salad. So tasty! The other courses were good as well, but not quite as special. I'd definitely recommend checking this place out in Kauai!

The Okinawan Potato Puree was amazing and their gelato was delicious. We went at night so we could not see the beautiful view clearly, but nonetheless the location is great! The only problem is that our meals took extremely long to be prepared! So that was annoying. But overall, I would definitely go back.

This place looks a lot better in the reviews than it really is. The bar area seemed a bit wore down. The happy hour snacks were kind of a joke. I had the ahi trio. Tasty but very small! It is still a decent spot to stop for HH, but go to Olympic Cafe instead.

Stayed at the Waipouli Resort for 12 days and visited the bar at the Oasis. The best Mai-Tais in the world. Cannot say enough about the view and the bar staff there.

One of the top 3 restaurants my wife and I have ever eaten at. Small plates made with 85% local ingredients. Impeccable service from Doole and amazing drink list that offers drinks/beer/wine you'll only find here. We both chose the 3 items for $35 and absolutely loved every dish. If you appreciate excellent quality food, awesome presentations, and unique flavor combinations then you will fall in love. So many good things to say I'll just keep it simple. Go here now!!!!!

Friendly and informed staff. Small plates of mostly locally-sourced food. Very high quality, but small portions for the money. Come for the quality, not the quantity. They serve Piraat, which is a mighty fine Belgian beer. Very nice views of the ocean, when it's still daylight.

Touristy? Yes. Excellent food, drinks, and atmosphere? Absolutely. This place rocks! The seared fish of the day paired with a Ginger lime mojito totally hit the spot for me. Will definitely be back!

Excellent tapas style meal with an incredible (although windy) location right on the beach. I'm not a huge Tapas fan because I like a bit a more hardy meal, but the tastes were excellent and very well prepared. The staff was very attentive. Only wierd thing was that a guy came out to fill our water glasses and says " Your waiter will be right with you" and then a minute later shows up as the waiter".

Beautiful location. Pretty small menu, but what we had was excellent! Don't bother getting your kids a virgin daiquiri (etc.) as same price as a fully loaded one!

Now that I'm leaving the island I can write this. Yikes, this place is good. Intimate, beautiful view and breeze, nightly music at the right time (not at the wrong time), what's not to like? This place costs a little more than most nice places ($30 for ahi entree), but the quality is so much better that is worth it (85% of their stuff is local). Try the beef appetizer and the cucumber/basil drink. Ono.

Amazing! Everything was so fresh, down to the sprouts! Loved the shrimp curry and the caprese salad. And the fresh Osaka sweet potato chips they served as appetizer.

What started out as an evening of great promise quickly turned sour. We arrived on time for our reservation (6:30) and were seated at a nice table with a view. It took a while for our waiter to arrive. When he did we ordered cocktails and he explained the restaurant's small plate format. He mentioned 2 dishes he was out of. He also suggested we share. Finally, he said that they had a special -- three plates for $35 -- a real value. After telling us he would be right back to take our order -- he left. Someone else brought our drinks. The server did not come back for a long, long, long time. In fact we had to flag down another server to ask for our waiter. We had been studying the menu for some time, and were informed that since we'd been seated, they had run out of two more entrees (that we were planning to order)! Nonetheless, we decided to order the three plates for $35 and share since this was, ostensibly, a tapas format. We also each ordered the sommelier's "special" wine pairing -- matched to each dish. We did not see the waiter again until nearly the end of the meal. The food was interesting and well prepared. However, each plate was presented with no fanfare. They were actually "dropped" on the table. And, each plate was delivered by a different person. We actually received the most consistent service from the bus girl. The wine pairings were interesting and delightful. The biggest problem seemed to be getting everything out at the same time. The sommelier was knowledgeable and brought each wine himself so he could explain the selection and its nuances. A very nice touch. However, he was hard pressed when he needed to move from table to table. Also, he did not welcome feedback on his suggestions when we wanted to talk about some tasting notes. Interesting, as we have been drinking wine longer than he has probably been alive! At the conclusion of the meal -- lo and behold -- our waiter returned. And, as we had actually enjoyed the food (if not the experience), we ordered two desserts. They too were delicious. When we received the check, we noted that the special 3 for $35 pricing was not applied. Again, we could not find our waiter. Again, our bus girl to the rescue. She got the manager for us. Yes, you guessed it. The harried sommelier was also the manager. We were told you can only get the special pricing -- 3 plates for $35 -- if both people at the table ordered three plates! Well, we are not "little" eaters and there is no way we (2 of us) could have eaten six small plates, two desserts and two wine flights. Also, the special was never presented as being conditional. They did adjust the bill. The restaurant was not busy. There was no reason for the service to be this poor. All in all, it was a LOUSY experience for a $150 price tag.

Avoid this place. Service was SO SLOW and the food portions are dumb. They talked us into the ridiculous 3 portion gimmick for $38 each and 90 minutes later we finally got our 2nd plates. One dish was literally four slices of a small tomato with a teaspoon size clump of cheese. We decided to leave rather than wait for the 3rd disappointing dish / appetizer. I don't understand the concept and the food options don't seem to match the feel of the resort. Oh and the oxtail pastry thing was gross! The manager offered to send our third dish with us for free but I had had enough. The restaurant was only half full at best so I couldn't excuse the delay in bringing out these tiny portions of food.

This place was a delight! We came here for our last night on the island, and after 5 days of Kauai's so-so food, this far surpassed our expectations. The decor was cozy and casual without approaching kitschville; service and food were both excellent (extra credit for locally sourced). In particular, I would recommend the ginger mojito, Mai Tai (of course), ono, and the creme brulee.

oasis on the beach is literally one of the only restaurants on Kauai that is actually right on the ocean. the food portion are small, but the food quality and flavor fusion is fantastic. Leigh treated my dinner party like family. her knowledge of food and wine in extensive. oasis seems to usually have a chef special cooking you may have to ask for. always a great surprise. the whiskey selection is best on island

Delicious food! Way, way, way good food! I would compare the chefs preperation to one of the best in swanky San Francisco! The portions are very small, like, bite size small, but again, very tasty! Also, the drinks were impressive as well, especially the signature martinis. The place is on the beach and they had live music played by a couple of very tallented 18 year olds. Everything was really great...except.... I thought the waitor looked like a druged up tourest, besides that, he was very nice and professional. The music, although very good, was too loud for our table sitting next to the speakers, and when we asked to move to an open table further away from the band, the dull orange haired hostess told us NO, and then sat the next party at the table we had wanted to move to. We then asked our waitor if we could move tables and he said yes of course, but then declined to do so and we lost out again on another table further from the band. Unfortuantely we were unable to stay and eat more at the restaurant because our table was just too close to the speakers, and we couldn't hear each other talk, we had no choice but to leave. If our table had been just a bit more quiet, we would have stayed all night and eaten and drant plenty.

The beef taco was soooo good. Was kinda skeptical at first since we're in Hawaii but soo glad we did and def the best taco i've ever had (seriously). Drinks were so yummy and strong, after one drink i felt a little buzzed ( yeah i know i'm weak). We were seated outside facing the beach and OMG it was heavenly. Oh yeah the restaurant is located next to our resort which is a plus. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Kauai.

Do not go to this restaurant if you are really hungry and unless you have 3 hours to kill. The concept is a good one, but the service was really awful. We had time to digest our food in between each course brought out. In the end, the server forgot that we hadn't received our last course and thought we were ready for dessert. The server also disappeared for 30-45 minutes.

The Oasis is exactly what everyone else is raving about. It's nestled in the back of the Outrigger Hotel, but what a great find. We had a waiter named Sam (also a professional photographer that was in the paper when we visited) that completely took care of us and we couldn't ask for better service. We initially stopped in for happy hour and stayed for a three course meal--completely due to the awesome food, service and just the groovy atmosphere. The food combo's are edgy and right up our alley. The drinks were right-on and not watered down. You MUST go here if in Kauai!

Oasis on the Beach was one of our favorite meals on Kauai! There were no seats with a view available when we first arrived, but we sat down and ordered, and the owner came by to move us to a table with a great view as soon as it opened up. Totally above and beyond! And the view really was beautiful! We both got really interesting cocktails - mine was a beet infused gin and tonic with a touch of balsamic - yum! The menu is tapas - small plates great for sharing. They had a special going on where you can order 3 for $35, which turned out to be a good deal. We got 5 tapas and 1 dessert between 2 people, and felt great afterwards - not too full, just perfect. Everything was fresh, delicious and interesting. Our favorites were the tuna tartar, the seared tuna, the oxtail risotto (really great portion on this one!), and the beef tenderloin. And the banana spring roll with caramel sea salt gelato - oh my gosh, so good! Would very highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back if we're fortunate enough to visit beautiful Kauai again.

We were enchanted by the beachfront location, the live music from a ukelele master, and the excellent food. The mission of the restaurant is to use locally sourced, fresh ingredients. The food is served small plate/tapas style, allowing you to savor all the wonderful flavors. Our favorites: arugula served with papaya jam and brie filled pastry; Charmoula prawns, perfectly grilled; and tenderloin and bleu cheese fondue. Highly recommended if you are anywhere near Kapaa.

Great food, very knowledgeable (though a bit slow) service staff. Tapas style smallish portions meant we ordered 3 tapas items for 2 people. Right on the beach and our table was out in the open air - wonderful. Overall we found the pricing to be commensurate with other higher end restaurants on Kauai. We will be back!

-4 stars for the setting and atmosphere ( would be 5 but it's just a bit cheesy) -5 stars for the quality of the ingredients used (except the asparagus) -3 for service Overall a pleasant experience but I felt like this place was trying a little too hard.

Quick Hit: clean flavors, unique twists on standard items, great views, average portions, average prices (for Hawaii) 5 days into our honeymoon and have say this has been the best quality food we've had on the island. (been to 7 places total including Merriman's Downstairs Cafe for lunch) Stayed at the Waipouli Beach Resort so this was really a convenience visit. My wife and I ordered the fish tacos and the fish and chips. The fish tacos were fresh and flavorful (make sure you put the pico de gallo on them). I really enjoyed the fish and chips. They fried the fish tempura style so it was really light and highlighted the flavor of the fish. Their tartar sauce was unique too. Can't really describe it, but not your average tartar sauce - very good! Portions seemed kind of small compared to some of the other places we'd been, but by the of the meal, we were both satisfied. I give it a 5, the wife gives it a 4. Good thing I'm writing the review.

The location was lovely and I liked that the restaurant was so open and exposed to the beach (though as the evening progressed, the breeze off the ocean was a bit cold). The presentation of the small tapas dishes was attractive enough. The service was friendly and our water glasses never went dry. BUT... For one, we sat there for 50 minutes before getting our entrees. The service was sloooooooooow. Fortunately, we have a good sense of humor and were able to crack jokes on the slow service to keep ourselves entertained during the long lags between dishes and waiting for our bill. I decided to forego dessert as I didn't want to have to wait for yet another course, as we might have had to spend the night at the hotel to wait for it. And that says a lot, as I was pretty set on wanting to try one of the desserts I'd seen on their menu - and I'm not want to let go of a sweet easily! And in addition to the slow service, the food was just not all that impressive. The menu made it sound like it would be really something special. I had the oxtail risotto with tomatoes and parmesan, which was okay. I also tried the Beef Cheek with carrot flan and mushrooms, which apparently won the Taste of Hawaii's People's Choice Award. The meat was very gamey and dry, though the mushrooms (the two of which were on the plate) were tasty. I will say, though, that the "carrot flan" was pretty divine. I'd forgotten what it was and thought I was eating some kind of gingerbread pudding. I put that on the meat, which helped to take some of the gaminess out and moisten the bite up a bit. So this restaurant was a bit hit or miss for us. It may have been overshadowed by the all-around five-star experience we'd had at the nearby Hukilau Lanai earlier in the week.

Oasis on the Beach was the surprise restaurant of our trip. It was recommended to us by our inn owner, and we were not disappointed! We were given a seat right by the windows, overlooking the beach and ocean -- beautiful view, and frankly what we had been hoping for every time we ate by the beach in Hawaii. The service was top notch and the food exceeded our expectations. We split the Kale appetizer as well as the Clams, and both were absolutely delicious. The kale was one of the best things I ate in Kauai -- grilled and served with melted brie and pickled shallots - really fantastic. We also had the burger which was absolutely delicious, as well as the fried fingerling potatoes which were addictive. We also had one of the best drinks we had all vacation -- the Cabellero: tequila, ginger, lemon and soda. Amazing! We were lucky enough to catch part of happy hour, so the drinks were even half priced. It's hard to believe this place has a few negative reviews, as we were so pleased by the quality of the food, ambiance and service. We even considered coming back for another meal. Definitely a must try if you are looking for a reasonably priced restaurant with a great view and food.

Lets make this review short... this place sucks. The food is bland, the service is slow and the price is ridiculous. Everything is served tapas style so done expect to leave full unless you have money to drop and buy like 5 plates for your self for $15 a plate. The food is totally hyped and for no reason. The food is not seasoned well and the only reason why this place is still alive is bc/ they are located in an awesome resort! If you are staying there dont bother eating here. Save your money and go across the street and buy some food at safeway to eat.

  • Ilo K.

For me, now, "small plates" means "total rip-off". This place serves food in the "tapas" mode, and the server suggested that this promoted "sharing" of flavors, blah, blah, blah. I really question how "sharing" is encouraged by serving miniscule portions, literally 2-3 bites at $16 a plate. The food is tasty, it's true, but the whole concept just leaves me feeling abused. $$$$ to leave the table hungry and grumpy. Meze, tapas, dim-sum are all traditions that allow you to order a bunch of different tastes to interest you and share them over drinks and conversation with friends and family, but that is not likely here unless your wallet is overflowing with unwanted cash. Someone mentioned the "lamb pot-pie" in a review, but what you get is literally, no really, literally a large spoonful (not a ladle-full) of lamb stew with a "crust" that is one small strip of puff-pastry, like 1"x4", artfully laid across across the top. A palm-size serving on the bottom of a huge bowl. Ridiculous. Tasty, but ridiculous. Food really good. Value? Elsewhere.

probably one of the few places you can dine right up on the ocean on the east side of Kauai. sat at the bar a few times- LOvEd it the bartenders there are creative and fun. menu items are awesome- chef is innovative and isn't a afraid to step outside of the box. food is local, fresh, and the quality is noticed. the few late night events I've attended were fun as well. stopped by for their "brunch" menu- options were limited and a little pricey but good I must say, I think the only thing missing was interaction with the staff. too much workers in the corner talking story, drinking coffee, and stuff- not a good eye teaser there.

Our experience on a slow Monday night at Oasis failed to meet even our most modest expectations. First the pluses: Ambiance (right on the beach) and overall look and feel inside were excellent; multiple seating options - while we had reservations, we didn't need them (max 20 people in the house during our time); very pleasant reception; excellent concept - locally grown, mostly organic dishes. On the other had: the service, while friendly, was deadly slow - as in s-l-o-w. We like a slow to modest pace, but this was way beyond slow. We arrived at 7:00 and were not finished with dessert until almost 9:00. There seemed to be plenty of wait staff...maybe it's a kitchen issue. Even with the nice ambiance, 2 hours is way too long; the menu, even with the organics, was all tapas and while this was fine the menu lacked coherence. The portions were tasty, but very small, even for tapas. Wine selection was interesting...all local, which was nice, but expensive - to wit: $10/glass or $50/bottle - those are your choices...no middle ground. My wife ordered a Thaitini and it came unaccountably with a cumin-like coating on the rim (she asked to have them change it for wine - they did, but it took 15 minutes!). Pricey; the server said two people usually share 5-6 dishes (we shared 6), we each did a dessert and we had 3 glasses of wine between us. Total: $130, plus tip. Value for our dollar and the quality of experience were very low. We will not be back and unless you are just dying for small portioned, locally developed tapas and have 2 hours to kill, plus about $70/person to spend, then look elsewhere. Our best meals over 2 weeks were at Casa di Amici (near Poi'pu) and Hukilau Lanai (in Kapa'a).

Let me preface my review with the fact that we didn't know this wouldn't be a complete meal. Other tapas bar type restaurants have always been conducive to making a meal from the "small plates" menu. Oasis on the Beach had no real salads on the menu which would have made the small plates into a complete meal. My mother and I visited because of the great reviews. The food was good, but ordering multiples of shrimp, veggies, etc. still left us with an appetizer meal. It ended up being the most expensive meal we had, with the least amount of food and the feeling that we needed to go out for dinner afterward. My mother would not return because she isn't much of a drinker, and the prices of the food seemed exorbitant. I would return for drinks (the wine by the glass prices were ridiculous) and appetizers, but would know better than to expect a meal. The service was good, and the surroundings nice. I love the fact that everything is fresh and as local as possible, but would have loved a real meal.

Awesome place right on the beach! Went for Wed. night Happy Hour, Beers and Martini's half off, and chef picks 1 each of selected tapas style small plates. the two of us had 3 Martini's, 2 orders of corn fritatas (excellent), ceviche (cubed w/ super good sauce), and filet w/ blue cheese fondue and sweet potato fries, Yum- heavenly. Banana- pineapple Sorbeto (pretty good if you like fruity sorbet) to top it off. All together $45. Very good deal, We were extremely satisfied, and the service was excellent, very attentive. Oh...the BIG apple Manhattan was amazing, bartender used his own special concoction of apple infused bourbon. Next time we are in Kapa'a on a wed, we will definitely be back. Happy hour every night on drinks, but happy hour on food and drinks, wed only 4-6 pm.

Small plates of wonderfully prepared Hawaiian and coastal cuisine. Ingredients are fresh and of high quality and mostly locally sourced. A welcome break from some of the heavier Hawaiian meals that we had been eating. Service was great and the price was reasonable. Expect to pay $120 or so for 2 (5 plates, desert, drinks) and don't forget to order the ginger creme brulee for desert. Bottom Line: The next time I'm in Kauai I will make it a point to revisit this restaurant.

Awesome restaurant recommended by Chris, our kayak guide from Rainbow Kayak Tours (another great experience on Kauai). The atmosphere and setting is very romantic being right on the beach with an open air design and a nice little bar to boot. Chris recommended the Ono, which is a nice delicate whitefish. The night my wife and I were there it was served on top of anise scented risotto and grilled fennel and was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. My wife and I both had the same but my wife had the half size portion as she wasn't that hungry and it really kept the bill down. Even with two glasses of wine the bill only came to $63 so it's reasonably priced and you just won't find a more beautiful spot. We definitely recommend this restaurant which also supports local food providers so everything is very fresh. After reading some of the other reviews, my only caveat would be to stay away from the Mai Tais. Apparently it's an issue. Enjoy!

This place is as good as it gets in Kauai. Food is better than any other place that I have been on the island. Definately better quality and creativity. Fresh and locally sourced. Cool bar. Great location - on the beach. In my opinion, no better place on the island. Met the owner and he is a really nice person. If you are on the island, check this place out and you wont be dissapointed.

Called for an anniversary dinner reservation and had one for 3.5 hours later. They sat us at a "reserved" table near the beach. It was great! We had super service (Henry) and ordered drinks and the arugula salad app. The Mai Tai ($12) was the best I have ever had, not sweet, just perfect. I love that they serve it in a low ball glass not some crazy shaped feminine flower vase. The salad was really good we just wished it had a bit more goat cheese on it. Dinner was the special Rib Eye and grilled catch of the day. Both were very good. Great location, great service, perfect night. If looking for a great location and great food this is the place in Kapaa.

My family group of 12 dined here 6/23/14. The setting is beautiful; right on the beach with the ocean breeze flowing. However, on this particular night the breeze was rather strong and many of us were freezing throughout dinner. At one point, we had to ask them to close the doors some, which did help. The waiter was very knowledgeable and explained the menu and specials well. We started off with a couple orders of calamari which were delicious...normally calamari comes with a dipping sauce of some sort - and this one didn't; however it wasn't needed and I didn't really miss it. Even the kids loved it. Most of our party got the gourmet burger and liked it (however my brother said it wasn't anything special). It didn't seem to come with very many fries I noticed. I ordered the NY Strip which came with steamed spinach and mashed potatoes. I ordered my steak medium well (because usually that ends up being somewhere between medium and medium well) but mine came out well done - which was disappointing. The flavor was good and if it had been cooked as ordered, would have been really good. The potatoes were yummy but the steamed spinach was awful. I've never steamed my spinach before but assumed it would taste similar to sautéed spinach. I was wrong. It was bland and flavorless. Two of us ordered the pineapple martini which was beautifully presented, but I did not care for it and either did my stepmother. I blame myself though, I had forgotten how strong martinis are and when I heard pineapple, I convinced myself it would be sweeter and not taste like grain alcohol. So that one's on me. Dessert however was a highlight!! The banana spring roll with salted caramel ice cream was to die for!!!! Several others got desserts and all raved as well!! Morale of the story - go here for the atmosphere and dessert only!! And bring a jacket or sweater!

We had dinner here last night with 6 in our party. I was impressed with the reviews here on Yelp. Local fish and produce prepared in an Asian fusion style appealed to me. So I recommend it to our group. We had several different dishes among us. One couple shared a fish starter and full portion different fish dish. And two of us got the burger. The dishes were unique, well plated and delicious. Even the burger wasn't just a burger it was different and super flavorful! Everyone else exclaimed about their food also. While pricy they do offer 1/2 portions at reasonable prices. While they do add a 20% gratuity to a party of 6 they were willing to split our bill for each couple! All the staff was friendly helpful and accommodating. I would recommend this place for dinner to anyone looking for a great dinner.

Good food, didn't like the drinks though. My husband and I were staying at the resort so we came down here for some dinner one evening. The vegetable curry was delicious and he dined on the burger that they offered. I tried the pina colada - tasted horrible. The alcohols didn't mix right at all. I'm not sure what they were using but it wasn't good at all. We treated ourselves to the banana spring roll for dessert. So good! Tiny, but delicious. The ambiance for an evening was amazing. We had dinner with a cool breeze overlooking the ocean. Gorgeous.

Hubby and I are entering a newly-discovered phase of our lives together. The-kids-are-almost-grown-and-we-can-take-date-weekends-together-phase!! I'm liking this phase. A.LOT. I joined hubby for the weekend while he was working on Kauai. Oasis on the beach was high on my list of date night dinners and boy-oh-boy am I glad it made the short list. It was our favorite meal this trip! We went during a downpour of a weekend. Word of warning... If it's raining you will get wet getting TO the restaurant. However, once you're there, it's covered. Hmmm, wonder what they do if it's super windy... It's all open air! We'll, we didn't have that problem. We sat just under the eves and watched the rain splatter and the waves Churn. It was wonderful. PLU the rain had the added benefit of deterring people from venturing out! So the restaurant was not crowded at all. Hubby started with the shrimp appetizer thingy that came with this spicy red sauce. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. It was incredible. This was the first thing we fought over... I had the arugula sand beet salad... Very yummy... Between bites of the sauce infused chunks of bread dunked in hubby's appetizer!! I ordered the farmers market curry and practically licked the plate. (Ok, maybe I did lick the plate...I was in Nirvana, I can't be held accountable!). Since it was vegetarian, hubby could eat some too and we fought over the last bites of this too. He had monchong with puréed sweet potatoes.... Oh so heavenly! Oh, note to locals... No rice served with the curry (what's up with that??? I stole the leftover from hubby's appetizer so I was ok... But still... Who serves curry without rice??...in HAWAII?... Minor infraction... Not worth a star removal... Just a little grumble) For desert we had the chocolate terrine and vanilla gelato. I gave him the last bites of these... Give, give, give. Aren't I a nice wife? (Ok, truth is, I was so full I almost exploded) Needless to say I had to be rolled back to the car.... But so worth it!

We ran across this place on the last day of our trip before heading to the airport and the food was the best of the trip. The Ono tartar appetizer is fresh and so tasty. The entrée we had was the seared catch with sweet potato purée and bok choy (so good) and lamb dish with goat cheese made on the island (my bf loves it so much he wished he ordered full portion). We tried the fried banana spring roll with homemade gelato, can't go wrong with it, the gelato is especially good! We left with the feeling of wanting more, we'll be back!

Every year, our first place when we arrive in Kaua'i is Oasis. And the last place before we leave is Oasis. And maybe one other time in the interim. The location cannot be beat. It's a cantina on the beach with sophisticated food and beverages made entirely with local ingredients from the islands.

Oasis is a great choice for an intimate setting on the ocean, Eastside of Kauai. Their menu is often fluctuating, but only because they offer new, revised dishes. They are a farm to table restaurant, and offer high quality food that supports the local economy. Although the menu isn't extensive, the food choices are really great, fish, chicken, steak... with a well-paired wine menu. Just remember to bring a light jacket, bc sometimes it gets a little chilly after the sun goes down!

Food was great! Short ribs especially were out of this world with the Truffle Fried Rice. Our bartender Vanessa was a blast and made our drinks to perfection!!!! Our server Terrance always had a genuine smile on his face and went above and beyond in his recommendations for menu items. You can tell that they both love what they do. We will be back here FOR SURE!!!! Note that this restaurant/bar is NOT at the Aston hotel in Kapaa... it is in the Wiapouli Beach Resort which is across the street from the Safeway shopping center. Bonus points for having the AWESOME ukelele/guitar duo playing cover songs and their own songs. Never thought I would hear Jimi Hendrix on a Uke... MIND=BLOWN.

The service here was very warm and our dinner was quite good but not worth what we paid for it. The menu seems inordinately full of itself, and its futile promises of flourish and finesse fail to find fidelity with the kitchen's fabrication. Overall, a fallow fine-dining fallacy, but fair enough for a fancy vacation feast.

A prime example of a resort beach bar and grill done RIGHT. Fresh catch fish tacos were perfection, and the BLT (with bacon jam and avocado mousse!) hit the spot for lunch. Could have a better selection of draft beers, but the Longboard is cold and they don't skimp on the mai tais. Best of all is the spectacular beach view and constant breeze. This place is well worthy of your lunchtime.

Loved the location of the restaurant....right next to beach. Overall facility and grounds including pool looked great...clean and well maintained. Wife and I had a burger. Excellent! Great drink prices during Happy Hour. Did not stay at resort overnight but asked about price to stay. Sounded very reasonable but does depend on time of year.

Great fresh food. Great fast service, very profesional. Fresh fish every day, and amazing side dishes. I've been to many restaurants in Kauai, none of them are fancy, and usually takes a while to get your food, but this place is fast. Drinks are amazing as well.

My husband and I first visited this restaurant in 2008. It had wonderful food, service and atmosphere. There was live music on the weekend. It felt like the place to be to relax and get great food. The shrimp skewers were amazing. Last night we returned to find a very different place. While the food was good. The service was just ok. It felt like a stuck up version of the place we used to know. They were slow and seemed to judge us for ordering half portions. (Which the full portions aren't that much larger). The atmosphere isn't there. So bummed we spent over $50 for a dinner that was just ok. Id suggest saving your money and going some place else. Please bring back the old place!!

Doesn't get much better than this! Oceanfront dining. Cocktails are pricey, bug generous so don't be put off by that. Remember, you're paying for the location! Service is very good and they don't seem annoyed if you only want drinks and an appetizer. Calamari is excellent. Lava Flows are HUGE! Nice wine and beer selection, as well.

Excellent food and service. They have tables on the patio that look right at the ocean which was beautiful. Ribeye and burgers were both amazing

The best meal we had on our trip! The ambiance is very relaxing, dim lighting, soft contemporary music playing and a gorgeous view right on the beach. Our waiter was extremely friendly and very attentive. Our meals consisted of; ranchers cut steak with mashed potatoes and spinach, and a seared Opah fish served over sweet potatoe purée and bok choy. Our main courses were excellent! All the different flavors of the items on our plates complemented each other perfectly. The steak and fish were cooked to perfection. For dessert we shared the apple and banana spring rolls which tasted much like a churro-also very delicious. Definitely recommend coming here!

Way overrated. Food didn't arrive timely and sure wasn't worth the view either. We happened to be staying at the resort all week and decided to give this place a try. Disappointed.

My first question is can grilled pork chops be cook medium rare or medium? I know pork loin can but I don't think pork chops can right? Correct me if I'm wrong but that's what the waiter asked me. I was a bit skeptical considering he didn't tell me what the catch of the day was. Overall I would say not very good service by the waiter however the food and the view weren't half bad. I ended up ordering the striped bass which was well made with truffle sauce and what I think were sweet potato or yam mashed potatoes. I also ordered the bacon truffle fried rice however there were no truffle taste but surprisingly the fried rice looked and tasted better than some Chinese restaurants. Anyway all in all, it's an average experience. I think I would have been better eating at the Courtyard Marriot where I was staying.

Nicely separated from the resort, we enjoyed our dinner, paper napkins and noisy crowd not withstanding. Our table was perfect, right on the ocean, and the service (I've forgotten his name but never his laugh, ha ha) excellent. We had the local fish prepared in a unique way which was tasty. Nice meal, nice evening.

It was okay. The food was okay and the service was subpar. The thing that killed the ambience was the Euro-disco music they played the entire time. It was very odd. If only they hadn't played that kind of music, the experience would have been so much more pleasant and less awkward. My partner really enjoyed his entree. Mine was okay but the appetizers were not that great. Food looked like it was just thrown together so I don't think it was worth the cost.

We visited this restaurant three times during the week that we spent on Kaua'i. We ate at a lot of other places too, and the competition was either very pricey street food in a hot closet one step up from a shack, or even more pricey resort food. The whole point of our vacation was to sit on (or near) the beach and chill, so we wanted a place with an ocean view and good food. Oasis delivered on both and surprised us by aligning with our own personal philosophy about food, which is to stick with local, fresh ingredients, and prepare them in a way that showcases them, and doesn't mess them up. We made sure we had a reservation each time, and we ensured that the reservation overlapped the tail end of the happy hour (4 to 6) and the sunset (usually around 6:30.) The reservation ensured three things: 1) that we secured a table facing the ocean, 2) that we'd at least get in one half priced round of happy hour drinks, and 3) Henry would be our server.

3.5. Service was ok. View was nice, not amazing, just nice. Little walk on the beach after. Sweet potato chips wit hollandaise was best thing there. Had salami sandwich and fresh catch with beet/goat cheese arugula salad. Both good, not amazing just good. Only thing is if I ask for my soup to be hot and u bring it out cold, that's a no no!

The restaurant is located at the Aston hotel across from Kapaa shopping center (safeway, longs, etc). Hotel has free parking. The night we went, there happened to be a power outtage that afternoon that had killed their computer system. Although the food and service were slower than usual, service was still friendly and the food delicious. We started off with the pork wontons - crispy and delicious, and the truffle potatoes - I wish they had given extra truffle aioli on the side, but still crunchy and yummy. I had the grilled catch, which came in a broth with saimin noodles. Most entrees have a half or a whole portion option - 3oz vs 6oz of protein. My fish was a little pink on the inside but overall I enjoyed the dish. Dessert was a warm brownie and apple banana lumpia. For those of you new to kauai, apple banana are a local type of banana that are firmer in texture and not as sweet as normal banamas so don't expect apples AND bananas in your dessert hehe. The accompanying ice creams were well made. Gorgeous view, but keep in mind it's on the east side of the island so you won't get much of a view of sunset.

This is one of the best restaurants on kauai if not the best ! I am basing this on the quality of food, atmosphere and service. The Menu is inventive and creative, incorporating a lot of the local ingredients and flavors of kauai blending and fusing unusual things which really make the dishes unique and tasty! The restaurant is beach front with great views and breezes. The service is timely and unpretnentious. This is the perfect place for a leisurely lunch beginning with their awesome cocktails (liliquoi martini a must!) listening to the ocean and simply chilling in paradise. Prices are reasonable and most entrees come in half or full portions. A hidden gem!

Went there for lunch on Saturday, very nice view and ambiance. The food gets 4 stars, but the service we had sucked!!! Our waiter, pretty much took our order, brought us what we ordered and that was it! I had to go to the bar and ask for extra napkins since our table top was wet from the condensation of the drinks ( no bar napkins for the drinks). He never asked us if we needed anything. Waved him down from the bar where he was watching TV to ask for salt. Also needed to flag him down for more ice tea and another drink. Worse service I have had in years! I say if this not your gig find another job! Especially since your job depends on tips. He had the personality of a slug. I think we were just unlucky, because the other staff there seem friendly and professional. I hope the owner reads this and has an opportunity to work with this individual.

Good food (if you like fish, stick with the catch of the day), good drinks, and...ok...service. Sat at the bar. Bartender was great. Kitchen (which apparently is out by the pool (?!?!) was slooooow. Liked the grilled kale salad. Glad someone finally figured out that you can't serve raw kale in a salad. It's too chewy. My fish was outstanding. The lamb meatballs were the only disappointment. Dry, overcooked. Wouldn't bother again. One of the better Mai tais around, which for $12 it had better be. :-)

Oasis on the Beach was awesome. They have a farm to table local market motto. Amazing food. Hubs had a pork chop with kale and mash potatoes. Pretty standard dish that was executed well. I had the local catch ahi with sweet potato puree and bok Choy. Delicious! Service was awesome and friendly. Cocktails were delicious and strong. can't beat the Happy hour price. Loved Doreen and Henry. Super awesome peeps!

This place is nothing to write home about, I'd it weren't for their outdoor feel and view, but sure if they would have such a good rating. We had lunch there, u had their "local" hamburger which was supposed to have goat cheese, but had swiss instead, it was kinda salty, and I had ordered it med rare, but it came out well done, too the point where the meat was kinda flaking off, it tasted over salted. My gf had the cous coud wrap, she said it was bland. With so many other options in kapaa, and lihue, I wouldn't bother unless you were staying at the hotel.

Not staying at the hotel, but this was the first place we stopped on our way from LIH to Princeville (thanks to yelp). Service was prompt and very friendly, and the food was great. Highly recommend the pork chop with barley risotto, kale salad, truffle and bacon fried rice, and the dark chocolate and coffee pot de creme dessert.

The manager mike "magic mike" they called him. Was rude, tried to make us leave because we did not reserve. They forgot our bread and butter, we asked them to cook our steak with no pink they cooked it twice each time it was bleeding. Never go here. Oh and mike does not wash his hands after the bathroom. I saw him take a piss and leave.

Good service, great place for happy hour, great tasting food for foodies, but very overpriced. I was especially upset when I had dinner here one night and I ordered half a lamb meatball and couscous dish. It cost $15 for 1/2 cup of couscous and 4 small meatballs. That is no way to show a customer value in a half order. I asked the server for more couscous and told him that that was certainly not enough for a half order. Thankfully he had the manager on site bring me another 1/2 cup of couscous, and I did get an apology, but I think the restaurant should take half orders off the menu if they choose to plate such a small portion for such a hefty price.

My favorite place to take first time visitors and good friends for an oceanfront dining experience. Happy Hour on Wednesday is packed, and with good reason. Special appetizers that usually end up being my meal - sometimes I get 2 of a favorite. My favorite drink is the Island Connection. And Wednesday from 5-7 they have an amazingly talented duo of ukelele/guitar and singing. Happy Hour is always a good deal, but Wednesday is amazing. Island fresh food, beautiful oceanside venue, and give Henry a hug and tell him I sent you. He'll take great care. And he is a foodie! Actually, the whole staff is wonderful, service consistently good. A treasure tucked away in back of a resort.

My wife and I were initially put off by the flossy exterior. How ever the Bar and Grill is right on the water, open air construction, with a great ocean view! It is cooled by the ocean breezes and thus is a pleasant place to pass the time. We had the breakfast wrap which was first class and quite hardy. Our starter was the won tons, which also were quite good, but not off the charts. Nice romantic ambiance for those so inclined. .

The fact is like other yelpers have stated, the portions are small for the $. The food is fantastic, though. They definitely use organic ingredients and local products which are the freshest of quality. We had pork chops. the flatiron, the mahi mahi, scallops, the arugala salad, and some other salad. The taste was undoubtedly absolutely scrumptious. The last time I had such small portions/price disparity was circa 2000 in NYC at a restaurant in SoHo where during the day the establishment was a furniture store and then turned into a restaurant downstairs at night. This place was A-OK...but didn't blow my mind.

I will start by saying that I never take the time to write a negative review, so if you're reading this...heed my warning! This was one of the WORST dining experiences I have ever had! The service was awful and the waitresses giggled when I complained. I will admit that I am from Texas and perhaps my expectations may be a bit higher than what Kauai is able to offer; however, this was by far a terrible experience and a complete waste of time and money. My family of four waited almost two hours for items that were ordered straight off the menu (no special requests). We saw our waitress twice in almost two hours. My medium well steak was served bloody and rare. It took an act of congress to get ketchup for my daughter's hamburger. We were offered 20% discount for our "inconvenience" and we were told, "I hope this makes you happy." ****ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!*** I have dined at nice restaurants all over the world. DO NOT waste your money or time with this one. The only reason it gets so much business is because there isn't anywhere else to go at the resort. The drinks are overpriced and we had the worst service imaginable. I was extremely disappointed, because, not only was I "saving" our last night in Kauai for this restaurant, I had sat at the bar and had cocktails, left generous tips, visited with the bartenders/managers for a week....and then had this AWFUL experience. I was so disappointed!! I had such high expectations for a beautiful departing dinner and I was beyond crushed!! Save yourself the time, money and trouble. You'd be better off going across the street to Tropical Dreams and having Ice Cream for dinner! BTW- The guy that owns TD Ice Cream is a CLASS ACT!! Best business on the island! Oasis was a HORRIBLE experience!

The food is alright, the MaiTai is good, the only thing that was alittle annoying was the blond bartender with the gauged ears, he had his hat sideways, and just didn't look professional. He just looked kinda dirty and like someone you would try and sell you drugs. For sure will not come back here if he is working. I didn't like his attitude and the way he kept touching his face.

We were surprised that there was only a $65 pp menu for Valentine's Day. The lobster bisque was watery and a disappointment. The filet mignon was okay and was accompanied by a small baked potato. Dessert was not memorable. Our waiter was mediocre at best. We askef for a wine list and he returned when we were about finished to see what our choice would be. So after all the rave reviews .... we were disappointed. The ocean view however is quite lovely.

Very close to 5 stars. I have to start by saying their Mai Tai's were the best I've ever had. I've gone years telling anyone that would listen that the the deconstructed Mai Tai's at the Waikiki Edition (now known as the Modern Honolulu) were insatiable. But this was better - they use fresh macadamia nuts in the mixture. Amazing. The restaurant was surprisingly not crowded (we went on a Monday night). We had reservations, but that didn't matter as there were only 5-6 other parties in the restaurant. Our waiter was excellent and had exquisite knowledge of the menu and probably could make a plain piece of bread sound appetizing. We ordered the catch of the day (seared ahi) and the brisket. Both were great but just slightly overcooked (hence not the 5 star rating). The portions were small-ish but reasonable as we ordered the half servings. We also had the kaffir lime creme brûlée as desert which was great. Bottom line - this restaurant was great and other than slightly overcooked entrees, it would deserve 5 stars.

We ate here for dinner twice and lunch once during our vacation, the food was excellent and the view is beautiful. The restaurant is on the ocean side of the resort, so you are looking directly into the waves. The food is farm to table, delicious, and beautifully presented. We had seared ahi on a squash purée with bok choy, a spare rib over truffled fried rice, and lamb meatballs with cous cous and a creamy mint sauce as entrees, they were all exceptional. For appetizers we had clams with sausage in a cilantro broth, ahi crudo, shrimp étouffée and pork wontons. The étouffée and wontons are not to be missed. The staff recognized us when we came back and were very attentive. On our second night, the chef brought us an amous bouche (sp?) which was beautiful and made us feel like they really appreciated our business. Our main server is exceptionally skilled in his craft and made sure the evening was a success. Highly recommend!

New Year's Eve prix fix dinner - came highly recommended from locals - we should have passed. $59 a person, 3 courses View and location: beautiful Manager: EXCELLENT! Food: flavorful but.... While menu was interesting, the portions were tiny - I mean really small as in a 4 oz steak and 2 lamb chops as entrees, with hardly anything served with it? The food arrived from the kitchen barely warm - they carry the food, uncovered, from the kitchen about 150 feet away, breezes blowing. The plates were even cool. We tried again. 2nd servings were no better. coffee - same thing, not even room temperature. We ordered champagne: waiter poured into the flute so the bubbles broke and amlost overflowed the class. So the champagne seemed flat. The Waiter, while nice, needs more training. Also, we ended up speaking w/the manager more than our waiter. This was a real disappontment especially at this price. Should have gone back to Chicken in a Barrel!

My wife and I decided to end our honeymoon by eating at this restaurant since we were staying in the resort. Gorgeous views as we were seated right at sunset. We both ordered the catch of the day for the seared fish and the grilled fish. Our orders came fairly quickly except the minor hiccup with my wife's order. She ordered the fish well done and it was medium-rare. The waiter and general manager were very apologetic regarding the error and offered to give us desert on the house. When receiving the bill, the GM did write off some of the drinks and appetizers for us. The food was really good but as others noted here, the price they charge certainly doesn't match the portion size they serve. For ordering a full portion it certainly looked like a half portion to me. Nevertheless, I enjoyed on time and the seats we had in the restaurant.

Okay, shame on me for coming here on Valentine's day but we wanted to get away from our hotel and this restaurant was recommended to us. Unfortunately we were stuck with the Valentine's menu, which started with a "love shot." I don't remember what kind of liquor was in here but I could have done without it. I started with the split-pea soup with egg and caviar. It was mostly tasteless, but not horrible. My husband started with the grilled oysters which were actually pretty good. They were really raw with just a little bit of the grill flavor - perfect. For our main course I had the mahi-mahi with roasted vegetables. The vegetables were really flavorful and the fish was good but a little overcooked. My husband had the filet and he just wanted to go back to the kitchen to teach them how to cook a piece of meat properly. He did like his mashed potatoes at least. Finally, for dessert we had the chocolate "panna cotta" (we had no choice as the other option had sold out) which I've taken to calling the "panna notta." There was at least three times the amount of gelatin in this as there needed to be. My spoon stuck straight up in it and held there for 20 plus minutes - that is not a panna cotta. The flavor was okay but it was just so thick! I knew I wouldn't get their best on Valentine's, but I would still never come back here. Fine, it is on the beach so its pretty but pack yourself a picnic instead.

We went here our first night on the island because we got in late and were staying at the Waipouli Beach Resort. It is right on the beach and offers both inside and outside seating. The wife and I both had the filet mignon and Mai Tai's. Both the drinks and food were very good. I think we stopped here almost every day for happy hour. If you are on the east side of Kauai you have to make this one of your stops.

Wow, stayed at The Waipouli Resort for 5 nights last week, and this place was the lowlight of the whole experience. It is too bad that such a nice resort would have such a cruddy place at their location. I am going to give the resort the benefit of the doubt and hope that this place is independently owned and they cannot currently correct the situation there. I am giving it two stars for location only. Front and center, on the beach connected to the resort which has amazing pools. I will be honest and say that locals warned us that the bartender, Joe does not put any or very little alcohol in the drinks. I ignored them and hoped for the best. I ordered one of their Martini Specials. I don't drink martinis because I do not like the bold vodka flavor in most, but the fruit flavors were too tempting. Well, no worries here...it was probably the most beautiful non-alcoholic martinin I have ever seen or tasted for something like $11. The fruit juice flavors were great, and the swirl presentation was second to none. I am pretty certain that my shot of vodka went to the 21 year old girls at the far end of the bar, or his buddies sitting next to us. Well, I was ready to continue on with the evening, based on he fact that I was forewarned...but my glass sat empty for 20 minutes while he conversed with the now tipsy 21 year old girls. When he had to calculate a check, the profanity started, seemed to be baffled by the calculator. We pressed on and got his attention to order a beer along with the check, fearing this could be our last opportunity to catch him in the next 40 minutes. Beer was poured, but no check. We had plenty of time to check out the menu, really, Shepard's Pie in Kauii???? Could not even bring myself to eat here. Went down to a great sushi place in Kapaa instead. Next time I will listen to the locals. And I hope that the Waipoli Resort can do something to clean up this place.

Wow! Not only was this place gorgeous, right on the beach, but we felt like royalty with the service by Lee our server, and just because we used open table for our reservation, we were served an extra appetizer and had a perfect view of the beach! The flavorof all our food was perfect. App pork wonton yummmm!!! Special mahi with this pumpkin flavor mash potato was awesome, hubby got seared ahi, amazing, desserts banana apple wonton mmmmm seriously best experience on kauai!

We just randomly found this place and were truly amazed. The food was spectacular, service was top notch and the view was perfect. My wife had fish she described as the best of her life while I had the short ribs which were flavorful and complimented by a tasty rice. Drink prices were on happy hour and the best we saw while on the island. We even saw a whale breaching viewed from our table! To finish it off, they brought us a complimentary dessert after my wife expressed how much she loved her dinner. We ate out numerous times all over the island during our stay and this was clearly the best by far. Will come again..and again!

I loved it because of the nice people and good food. Interesting things they have: 1. Good loose leaf tea in french press 2. 1/2 portions. They are still big enough to eat well, but you do not need to share =)

Come here for a romantic date night dinner! They take reservations on open table. The service was wonderful, ambiance was great (open to the beach), and food was delicious. We started off with island cocktails. The pineapple martini was my favorite. I also ordered a spiced rum cocktail, which I wasn't too much a fan of but it was strong! I had the grilled mahi mahi over five spice risotto. It had an Asian fusion flare to it. The fish was cooked perfectly. The bf had their grass-fed burger with fried egg on top. It was very good. Their menu is based around all local ingredients so everything was fresh. They also give you the option of ordering half or full portions. Highly recommend. Price was also very reasonable for a resort.

Wonderful Mai Tai's best I had in Kauai by far! Food is good and reasonably priced. Plus, it's on the ocean!

Great setting for dinner on our last night on the island. The mai tai was a perfect blend of fresh juice and rum. The grilled fresh catch and pumpkin mash was delicious and the banana spring roll topped things off nicely. A large group came in toward the end of our meal and that pulled the attention of our waiter away...significantly delaying check delivery and payment...the only negative in an otherwise enjoyable evening.

We stayed at Waipouli Beach Resort and got a few lunches for the kids by the pool. But it was dinner that blew us away. A few thing in particular: farm to table - most of their food is grown locally. Half portions - a winner! It allowed us to sample more without feeling bad for wasting food. And finally - the taste! Every item tasted heavenly. Highly recommended! Location is great too, easy parking at the resort, beach and pool are beautiful at night.

Ambiance was nice. Service was ok. Food was barely warm with rice half cooked in two seperate dishes served to our table. I wouldn't go back for the food.

We dined here on January 3rd, 2013. Service was slow that night. It took 15 minutes to get a drink, nearly 30 for our appetizers. The food was warm at best when it arrived at the table. They don't actually cook the food in the restaurant, they cook it at a little grill house next to the pool then have to carry the food outside probably 50 yards to the restaurant then through the place to your table.

My fiance and I ate here during our vacation in Hawaii. The food was delicious!! We decided to splurge the last night and eat at this restaurant. The atmosphere was nice. We sat at a table by the window we had a great view of the ocean. There was a live band that played some relaxing music. We ordered the Shrimp Cakes for the appetizer, and the rib eye and the fish of the day for the entree. We had no complaints on the food. I ordered the rib eye medium rare and it came out just the way I liked it! The service was good also. The waiter was attentive and my "diet coke" was always filled. I would come back to this place on my next trip to Kapaa, Kauai!!

Good God...the best mai tais in the universe, seriously! Joel is the Man, and he knows exactly what he's doing behind the bar and the distillery. He distills most of the spirits he uses in his wonderful concoctions as far as cocktails go. He's very knowledgeable and doesn't mind "talking booze." The only other mai tai I've had that comes in as a close 2nd is from "House w/o a Key" in Honolulu. What makes this one stand out is the crushed ice and fresh flower and sugar cane garnish. But really, Oasis serves up the best mai tai. They're pretty pricey @ $12 a pop but afterall, it is Kauai. All the other cocktails (believe me, we tried most of what's on the menu) are superb as well. Catch happy hour when all signature drinks are $5 instead of $10. The mai tais, unfortunately, never dip below the $12 price tag. At least go and have one...if you can control yourself. Good luck!!

Very delicious, great quality food. We had the pork chop and the short rib, both were incredibly tasty. The sides were quite nice too. I have to ding two stars for the following reasons: first, the portions are not great. Since this is a bit pricier being a resort beachside restaurant, you would hope for a bigger meal, but alas the large cuts of meat are in the neighborhood of 6oz. Not that great if you're a big eater like me. Also, we didn't care too much for the evening dining experience. It's all open wall so you can feel the ocean breeze, but it was as if there was a tornado blowing through. The silverware blew off our tables! And they keep the dining lighting so dark, I couldn't even identify who was our hostess because we couldn't see her face, nor could we see across the table very well either. In the end, we enjoyed our visit but wouldn't try it again.

We ate here on New Years Eve with the prix fix menu. It was about 50/50..really rushed and poorly seasoned. We decided to try again for happy hour and feel it lived up to all the reviews. Really fresh, tasty and great cocktails. I'd definitely try in again and recommend going while its still light out so you can enjoy the view.

It was totes. The gf and I enjoyed a great dinner right by the ocean, at prices that were much less than I'd have expected given the ambiance and great view. Watch out for frogs, large ones, on the grass lawn in front of the restaurant. They are anathema to us. The food was great; I had the burger, and the woman had fish. We did not have either dessert or alcoholic beverages, so I can't speak to those. The food is good, but the setting is great. I'd go back.

Happy Hour is a great deal if you go with the beer, because you'll know you are getting alcohol...... and I like alcohol. My father, husband, and I felt that the drinks were a bit on the light handed side. After having two rounds of drinks at the bar we orded pupus. Purple sweet potato chips with a hollandaise sauce drizzled over it were excellent and the portion was fitting. My parents got the fresh catch tartar bruscetta which was an ahi poke on bread- three slices which didn't seem like a good value but had a good overall flavor. We then moved to our dinner (we had reservations for 5pm). There weren't many people around at 5pm so we took our time to order. I got the hamburger which was local grass fed beef, arugula, bacon jam, and local goat cheese. I asked for my burger to be made rare. Hubs and mom got steak with purple sweet potato and spinach. Both asked for thier steaks rare. Dad got the short ribs which came with rice and bacon. If you've seen some of my other reviews you will know that I expect a rare burger or steak to come out classically rare. Rare as in what culinary schools will classify as RARE. I fully expect that any chef, especially the ones at fine establishments, who charge $32 for a steak to be able to cook a piece of meat to the same or better calibur than I can at home. I suggest that this chef brush up on how to cook beef by checking out this visual chart. xmb.stuffucanuse.com/xmb… All of our beef was cooked medium well. After we openly discussed how dissapointed we were in the level of rareness our waitress said she would get us a round of drinks..and then changed it to dessert. While the steak and burger were seasoned nicely and weren't dry, it significantly depreaciated the value of the meal. I mean seriously, if I can cook my own steak better than a chef I'm paying, then I might as well stay home! I'm not a professional by any means but I can cook a rare, medium and well done steak. I watch master chef like everyone else. $32 per person for overcooked meat and you're going to give me two scoops of gellato? Thanks. On the flip side, my dad's short ribs were great. He really enjoyed the flavor- I think there was a hint of star of anise that really made the meat sing. All I have to say is, if the drinks were stronger I would have walked back to the kitchen and told the chef in my best Gordon Ramsy accent that this was ' WOW, WoW Wowo woow dissapointing! How can you put this out? Who told you that this was rare?" and then thrown the plate in the trash with a dramatic crashing of plates. Dinner has a nice view but I thought that since someone else got their medium burger raw, that I would at least get a rare burger. I'd say that if you have to eat somewhere and your car breaks down in the parking lot...or you just can't eat anywhere else...or maybe you like short ribs.... go there. If you like rare burgers then stay AWAY!!!! Take your money, go to the grocery store, and cook your own Dayum food.

If you are staying on Kauai, go to Oasis on the Beach. We kept talking about going here, and ended up waiting until our last night in HI since it was almost an hour's drive from our resort in Princeville. Boy, was it worth the drive. We were seated at a beautiful table looking out onto the beach, and had a wonderful meal. Everything is fresh from the island and while the menu is limited, there is something for everyone. I had one of the best caprese salads of my life here! The Mai Tai's are excellent, too. To top it off, our reservation was 1,000 points on OpenTable. Doesn't get better than that!

My wife and I went here for a "date night" (a break from the family trip to Kauai) and we had an excellent time. The location of the restaurant was absolutely fantastic; right on the water with a gentile breeze blowing in. The restaurant focuses on locally sourced products, and you can tell that it takes pride in that fact. To start our meal, we split mussels served in a tasty kimche broth. The flavor of the broth hinted at the spice of the kimche but without the fermented taste overpowering the perfectly cooked mussels. For our entree course, my wife ordered the filet mignon rare, and that's how it came. The steak was well seasoned and accompanied by some excellent mashed potatoes. I ordered the seared Ahi (the only fish they had that day) and it was exceptionally fresh. The fish came on a bed of risotto with marinated fennel bulbs. Both dishes were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. We split a creme brulee that will go down as one of my all-time favorites. The custard was a coconut and kafir lime custard. It had a taste I've only experienced in thai soup, but this was perfectly suited for dessert. Too often I've been the victim of a chef's excessive creativity, but this dessert was excellent. Our waiter was fantastic. He was attentive and clearly knew his way around the menu. Although the appetizer course was a little slow in coming out, we never felt ignored or forgotten. And, for a date night, we appreciated having our meal served at a more relaxed pace. My only knock against the restaurant was its Mai Tai recipe. It tasted great but it was made using some kind of cream (which caused some minor curdling due to all the acid in the fruit juices). I was hoping for a wonderfully made traditional mai tai, so this wasn't exactly the highlight of the meal for me. Looking back on it, this was our best meal on the island. We would definitely return and would encourage others to give it a try.

note: Anyone who reviews this restaurant less than 10++ wears 40 grit sand paper for under ware... Service - Very friendly & knowledgeable waiter I've ever seen! Our waiter Steve knew more about the menu than any other waiter we've ever had. Food - I ordered the curry fish dish and my wife and I shared the zucchini cake for an appetizer (it taste like the best crab cake ever - but w/ no crab in it). Totally awesome!! Price - Fair/Good. We certainly didn't over pay. They even offer 1/2 orders for 1/2 price and our waiter was kind enough to be honest with us and let us know that 1/2 orders are pretty generous portions if you're getting an appetizer too. So that's what we did. Ambiance - Best location on the island - cool little tiki restaurant, nicely decorated, plenty of seating, right on the water. Ever seat in the house has a view of the water, 50 feet away is the ocean. Plus there is a really cool bar if you just want to grab a nice drink. Overall - 12+++out of /10!! Out of all the places we tried on the island, this one is by far the best! We are definitely going back. Great place to grab lunch, dinner or a cocktail. I'm not sure if they do breakfast but I'm sure it's good if they do. Joey is the executive chef and the guy kicks hawaiian a*%!!

I ate here a little while ago for the second time. This time with a friend & her girlfriend and we each had the 3-course "tasting menu." What I loved about their tasting menu was that you could choose any three dishes off of their menu! How fantastic! I started with the beet salad...fresh, local, roasted beets with Kauai Kunana Farms goat cheese and a li hing mui dressing. It was so good, my friend, who hates beets, loved it. I followed up with a steak katsu, which was also great. My friend got the filet mignon and her girlfriend the risotto, which was the surprise of the night. It was perfect. I never order risotto because so few places get it right, but this one was flavorful, creamy, and the rice was a good texture. I finished with oysters. That's right. A half-dozen oysters with accompaniments & it is now my favorite dessert. I would definitely eat here again. I've heard they also have a fantastic brunch, but I've never been.

Great spot for a nice dinner on the east side. Local ingredients and simple Hawaiian fusion with great service. I opted for mahi, but the strip steak from local beef was tempting. The fish was grilled to a point where it flaked perfectly but was still soft and the other parts of the plate were well arranged, seasonal and delicious. Lots of veg and other protein options as well, but why bother when the fish and meat are so delicious. One thing of note for travelers- this restaurant is in a resort and not a stand alone spot, so don't look for it on the side of the road. Park in the hotel lot and walk through. The server and his team were well versed and very attentive but not on top of us. I will go back. In Hawaii- I am told you measure yelp stars from the front instead of the back. So five star Hawaiian= Four star mainland. Ono.

Really great food made with fresh ingredients from island farmers market and the catch of the day. The curry I had was better than I've had in many Indian joints. Crispy fried fingerlings with truffle hollandaise? Amazing. The service was great; the friendly staff pride themselves in their venue, and they should. The drinks are amazing. Fresh ingredients, homemade infusions and concoctions from a pair of mixologists. If Joel isn't busy, get a drink at the bar off menu. We had a doppleboch/chocolate ice cream drink... it was insane. He has a very developed mind for mixing. It's fascinating. Best food I've had on the island I'm the week plus I've been here.

We stayed at the resort and ate here four nights out of 9 days! We tried 5 different entrees, 4 starters, and one of their deserts in all. There wasn't anything on the menu that we ordered that disappointed. The place is directly on the beach with fantastic views of the ocean. Each night we watched whales breaching in the background while eating dinner. We always chose the half course and chose to eat during happy hour (4p-6p). The live music on Wed evenings is very good. You really can't go wrong with any of the meals on the menu. The service is great and there is usually no problem with seating at this time. Dinner on Wed evenings does require a wait, but you are fine any other evening and time. I highly recommend it.

So hot and cold! We were staying in the condos at the Outrigger (amazing BTW for the price) and went here 3 times during the week for dinner. Each time was a different experience that only seemed to progressively be on a downhill slide. Maybe we were just enchanted with the island when we had dinner the first night, but I thought everything was great. Happy hour half price drinks, great service, amazingly fresh tomatoes in the goat cheese/caprese salad, wonderfully presented entrees (half order options were nice), buttery ono, perfectly seared ahi and the malasadros? (lightly battered donuts with chocolate sauce) was the perfect ending. Wed night they have a couple of talented young guys playing live music. Great vibe and energy. The place is packed and understandably the service takes a hit. They forget the details. Water glasses go unfilled, it takes forever to get another drink, no bread and no steak knife with the tenderloin. I had to get up and go find my waiter a couple of times and found a steak knife on my own. The last night was the worst. Took 10 minutes for the server to take drink orders, but by then we were ready to order everything because we had a 5 year old that couldn't wait an hour for dinner. Well, the dinner took at least an hour. I know its island time, but an hour waiting for the dinner entrees when historically it takes no longer then 15-20 minutes is ridiculous. The waitress apologized every time she showed up because everything took a long time, but made no attempts to explain. Im not sure why because they were not particularly busy. We finally asked them to take it to go. Another 30 minutes later, we took our dinner home luke warm. An hour and a half!!! They made no attempts to compensate despite talking with the manager. We will be reluctant to return except to sit at the bar for happy hour or grab some lunch.

where do i begin. i was recently on vacation in Kauai over the weekend. this place was recommended by our hotel Kauai Beach Resort (which was amazing). We decided to try the place out. First off the place is gorgeous right outside the beach, music was wonderful, great energy. *one star* When we first walked in the manager or front desk man seemed a bit frazzled, but we were in no rush. Finally we sat and our waitress came over, as she began introducing herself this rude lady walked over and interrupted her from another table, right then and there is set the tone. its not the waitress fault, and she apologized they were very short staffed. we ensured we were in no rush. We asked what the catch of the day was and what she recommend, she was very knowledgeable. Ok, my husband ordered his steak medium, the steak came out rare, bloodiest stead i have ever seen, on top of that it was all FAT. he had maybe 2 bites, i had the ahi tuna, which was ok. we ordered a side of mash potatoes which was freezing cold, and extremely bland! we asked for salt n pepper and some sort of gravy to pour over. this place is definitely NOT WORTH the price. you are better off trying food places off of highway 56. this place was not a good place to end our trip with, we felt extremely taken advantage of. the food was horrible, way over prices, took about 35 min to even get our main course, and it was cold. unfortunately i will never recommend this place to anyone. we did not complain the day we dined. looking back we probably should have.

The dinner I enjoyed here was one of the tastiest, and most interesting, I can remember having. The restaurant's dedication to fresh local ingredients, drew us in, and did not disappoint. I highly recommend dinner here for those with adventurous palettes, or just about anyone who doesn't always opt for the mild salsa. Note that since it is a "tasting" menu, 3 of their plates together are about the size of an entree. Do not be misled if Yelp still rates it at only 2 dollar signs. Dinner for two was in the ballpark of $150 (I forget exactly, check their menu online for prices) for two salads, two fish dishes, a steak dish, two desserts, a cocktail, a glass of mead and a cup of coffee. The Thai martini woke my taste buds up as a starter. I was shocked at how the handful of dominant flavors worked well enough together in this beverage. I enjoy the pepperiness of arugala, but I had no idea how lively it could taste until I had the arugala salad here. I asked our enthusiastic host if there was additional spice in the salad, but he claimed it was simply the flavor of the greens. I believe him, and will be searching for arugala like this in the future. I don't usually care for beets, even when they are lovingly roasted, but the roasted beet salad won me over. The goat cheese went beautifully with them, but their delicate flavor and texture was great alone. The flavor of the seared ahi blew my mind. The seared part was intensely savory, and a little spicy. Each piece was exactly as tender as I would have liked it to be. We ordered another ahi special that was similarly packed with savory flavor, but more buttery in texture. The two ahi dishes complemented each other, without being more if the same. I ordered a glass of mead on a whim; I'd always wondered what it was like, and I've never seen it on a menu. I was disappointed at first, until I paired it with the spice of the fish dishes. Sweet wines (although usually grape wines) are often recommended for pairing with spicy food, like Thai, and they really can go beautifully with one another. I reluctantly tried the tenderloin with Bleu cheese fondue, since my girlfriend was enthusiastic about it. I usually like my steaks with minimal preparation, and the "fondue" sounded over-the-top. However, the cheese flavor did not overwhelm the steak, which was a perfect medium rare; the sauce was presented in just the right amount, not the hot pot I had imagined. The apple banana spring rolls were crunchy, fruity, and not too greasy. The Carmel gelato was smooth and rich. It might have been interesting to have the salt be more detectable with the carmel flavor, but I've had overly salted carmel ice cream before, so I can see why it might be better to keep it low key. The strawberries and cream in the shortcake were delicious, but the "cake" had more of a tough cookie texture, which made it difficult to eat (probably the biggest disappointment of the night, but no huge deal) Decaf coffee can be an afterthought in many menus. Luckily, it was packed with excellent flavor here, and it made an excellent complement to the desserts. We dined under the stars, by the ocean. It was beautiful. The staff were especially friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I wish them great success.

We were looking for something different and had not been to the Oasis restaurant before, so we met our good friend Lucy at the restaurant for what turned out to be an amazing evening. We were greeted by Don, the manager, when we arrived. Don took us to Table 33 (you have to try to get this table) which is an open air table and only has the beach and ocean in front of you, There was a perfect sunset and the tradewinds were very refreshing. Our waiter ,Tyler, said, when I told him that I wanted something unusual, to try the burger with Cheve and bacon jelly. When have you heard of bacon jelly?? I have eaten many, many burgers in my life and this was the best. My wife and Lucy both had the fish of the day prepared in different ways and they said several times how much they enjoyed the fish. A bottle of Zinfandel wine made the dinner very smooth. For dessert we had the Salt Pond gelato, which was so good: caramel with a salt kick. It has been a few days since our meal and I can still taste the bacon jelly.

Great restaurant. Hadn't been back to the island in 5+ years first place we ate at... after settling in. Never been. Has nice ambience yet quite casual. I wore tank-top and flip- flops. Had the Thai seafood curry. Was really nice. Good service - Adam was great. Would definitely recommend and return.

I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt. I will think that since they literally opened the doors as we got there, that maybe we just hit them before they got into their stride. The service was slow and distant at first, then another young woman took over and it got a little better. The food was ok but they forgot our side order of french fries. Everything was a little overpriced and the lunch menu is extremely limited. I've seen better reviews for dinner, so maybe that would be worth a shot. But by no means would I suggest trying to eat lunch here before they're ready for you. It's too bad, the location was gorgeous and the weather was nice. We probably would have sat around for a couple hours and blew some real cash on food and drinks had it seemed like the place was worth it....

We came here after a long day kayaking and checking out different beaches on the island, we sat at the bar in our beach attire but felt completely comfortable even dressed as we were. Everything we ordered had such a unique taste to it and delicious! We ordered the ahi tuna in a soup broth with ramen noodles and the burger and both were excellent. I recommend oasis for a Fairly quick bite and also a nice sit down meal, it somehow manages to blend casual with fancy food, perfectly.

What a wonderful place to have a meal. Just yards away from the ocean with a choice out outdoor or inside dining. Tiki torches blazing away as folks come in to sit at the outrigger shaped bar and Hawaiian music being played by a duo. The interior design of this place is just lovely! At night it becomes very romantic. The food? I had a very nice ceviche followed by a local beef rib-eye steak that was served with the most incredible corn side dish. The restaurant takes pride in local sourcing and it shows in the freshness. Service? Not as good as the food. Lots of minor things that just add up. Empty plates sitting too long, dessert menu forgotten about, etc. Service really needs to tighten up to match the food and location but don't let this stop you from giving it a try. Even if it is just happy hour, you should give things a try.

Good find! Went for dinner and made a reservation through Yelp/Open Table. They brought us a complimentary appetizer for doing so! The beet salad was absolutely amazing. I also love that they're a farm to table restaurant. We sat in the open air, so if you go later in the evening and you're always cold like I am, bring a light sweater because it can get breezy, but if you're a normal person, you should be fine. We had just enough room to split dessert and it was worth it as well. Would go back next time I am on island.

FOOD POISONING - STAY AWAY. Ate there last night for the first time. 2 people got food poisoning in my group while still at the restaurant, one severely sick in bed today with chills. On top of that, the service was just awful. Everything came our slow - even the drinks took half an hour, and the waitress promised to bring some items that never came out, and never checked back if everything was OK. Besides the toxicity of the food, the food was marginal. I come from San Francisco where the standards are high, but I have eaten at many restaurants on Kauai and never had food so marginal and had so many things go wrong. I am used to small portions, but high quality in SF. This was just stingy and not very good preparation. It took 1.5 hours for my food to come out and it was cold. I was floored when they served the fish, the pumpkin mash and arugula in one pile together. The fish and 8 pieces of arugula were covered with pumpkin mash, so everything tasted like cinnamon pumpkin. The fish they served was 4 bites and had stringy inedible rubbery material throughout.

We were staying at the resort and wanted to stay in, so went to Oasis for dinner. We were seated right away and taken care of by Lee(Leigh). My wife and I stayed at the Waipouli Beach Resort in 2007 for our honeymoon and we ate at what this restaurant used to be and loved it. It was open during lunch and dinner with meals ranging from simple burgers up to complex fish dishes. There was plenty of local beer on tap (this is where I discovered Kona Big Wave) and the prices were reasonable. The service was great and it was nice to eat lunch/dinner while basically sitting yards from the sand on the beach. We ate there more than once on our honeymoon and the food/service was consistently good. We returned to Kauai in 2011 and we've had two bad experiences so far. My wife ordered food to bring back to our room (we're at the Waipouli Beach Resort again) and we ended up with tiny portions of mediocre-tasting food at very high prices. Also, our order was incorrect and we were missing a piece of fish (the container only had garnish)! We figured it was a fluke and we returned one afternoon just to have some drinks after swimming in the resort's pool. There were several other folks at the bar who were still in their swimsuits. We waited at the bar for several minutes and we were ignored. I even put down a $20 on the counter after a few minutes to get the bartender's attention and it didn't work. We left without drinks and found it was easier to get a beer from a bottle in the Safeway across the street. Some of the other reviews have mentioned it, but the prices at the Oasis are *exorbitant*. $9 for a bottle of beer is insane. When a 6-pack of that beer could be purchased at Safeway across the street for $8, it really puts things into perspective. Want a Mai Tai? You'll pay $12 for a very small drink. Compare that to $7.50 for a larger, well-made Mai Tai down the road at Hukilau Lanai and you'll wonder why you ever walked into the Oasis in the first place. My recommendation: bring this place back to what it used to be. It used to have better food selections, better hours, better prices, and better service. It's really frustrating to see what's happened to this well-placed restaurant.

Even if the food was mediocre, I'd want to come here at least once...but, it's not. This is a great place right near the sand to gaze out at the ocean with a tropical drink in one hand and a fork with tasty food in the other. The only thing that would have made it better on my visit would have been happy hour and sunset. Next time!

What a disappointment! We went there twice and the first time it was excellent. The waiter (man with a small beard) was super friendly and the food was great. We had the Fresh catch tartare bruschetta as a starter and that was delicious. I recommend the half portions if you go for a 2 or a 3 course dinner. The pan seared catch was also sublime. I asked for a second white moscatel wine which I never got. But then I thought it was just an incident. But the second time we went there we were served by a waitress who didn't want to work in our opinion. We asked for the main course for our toddler together with our starters and they couldn't manage that. Then we got our starters (which was the same as the first time) and we had to asked for bread. Everyone else in the restaurant got it straight after being seated at the table. So we got the bread after our starter. The cocktails the first time were great, but now they were too strong. There was also a hair in one of the cocktails (!) which I mentioned to the waitress and she didn't even apologise....My husband asked for a Chardonnay wine which he never got, again. And I had to ask for mine twice. We will never go back and that is a shame as we stayed two weeks in the Waipouli Beach resort so the Oasis is a 2 min walk for us. Well, we rather go to Safeway and buy our groceries to cook our own dinners instead!

Food was ok, portions were on the skimpy side. My amberjack was nicely cooked, but I wound up having to dig in to my kids' fries because i was still hungry. Drinks were a bit weak and left me thirsty.

This place is great, our waitress was helpful and friendly, good atmosphere over all the only downside was the food are in small portion; perfect if you are in a diet :D.

Hands down the best meal I had on Kaua'i. The service was great and the food was excellent. I had the fresh catch tartare for the appetizer, a tenderloin for my entree, and the apple banana lumpia for dessert. Three amazing dishes that you must try! Pretty much everything on their menu is locally grown/caught. If I ever come back to Kaua'i, I'll definitely come eat here again.

Delicious! Do not miss the beet salad. Even my husband who doesn't like beets enjoyed the beets with chevre and dressing. The three menu deal is great and really displays the menu. My clams and pork chop were fantastic. My husbands lamb pot pie and tenderloin were equally delicious. It would be five stars with two minor adjustments: 1. The waiter sharing thing doesn't work. We seemed to either have a lot of attention or nothing. Had to flag a waiter down for a refill and the check. 2. Fairly uncomfortable seating. The hatching on the chairs dug into my thighs, but maybe that's the sunburn talking.

This review is for Sunday brunch only. After reading the reviews online I decided to make brunch reservations, the reviews made it seem like this place gets packed so I wanted to ensure we got a table. We got there at 10:30, the place was empty. This made me question our visit already. We sat down ordered some drinks, I got a spicy watemelon cocktail, and it was ok, nothing special a spicy club soda basically, my husband got the bloody mary and that was really good. I ordered the short ribs eggs benedict and my husband got bacon and eggs with a jalapeno biscuit. My dish came out, i got two tiny portions of short ribs about the size of the poached eggs that sat on top. No bread underneath, no other food on the plate, this plate was half empty. And it was under seasoned, if your giving me a small portion, it better be delicious, and it wasn't, it needed salt and pepper, but no tables had salt and pepper, I asked for some tabasco and that helped a little, by the time I realized salt and pepper might help, my plate was almost empty and I gave up on trying to salvage my tiny brunch plate. My husbands dish on the other hand was a lot better in portion and in taste, his jalapeno biscuit was stuffed with sausage. The sausage wasn't described on the menu description, and I thought his dish was great, so great I had to eat it to get even slightly full. So if I ordered what my husband got it would have been good, if you got what I ordered you would be disappointed, by the time we left, there were two other tables, and the rest of the place was empty. As we left I saw the little building near the pool which seemed to be the kitchen to the restaurant, I thought that was kind of weird. On the bright side our server was really nice and brought us two small flutes of champagne as a thank you for making a reservation online. That was a nice touch, but I still wouldn't recommend this place.

We just returned from Kauai and ate at this local restaurant in Kapaa three times. Every experience was amazing. BEST restaurant on the island. You can't beat their location, view, service or food. Each visit was awesome, fresh local caught fish and the wait staff really knows their food. Everything is farmed locally - if ever you are in the area stop in you won't regret it. And if you are celebrating a special event (we were celebrating our 30th anniversary) try to reserve table 22 or 23. Ocean front at sunset, amazing !!!

Everything here tasted so good...I got the pan-seared fish (ahi today) with okinawan sweet potato purée and bak Choy. It was amazing...the ahi literally felt like it melted in my mouth, as (only) fresh-caught fish was used in the dish. It was seared on the outside and raw on the inside. The combination of the purée on a slice of ahi was a brilliant combination of texture and flavor. The bak choy added on top was a bonus, as it complemented the soft bite of ahi with a bit of toughness/chewines of bak choy. I think the best part was that the fish was very fresh. That made a whole lot of difference.

The three stars is for the ambiance. The food was just OK and the service was very low. We stayed at the Waipouli beach resort so it was convenient, but I wouldn't make a trip out of my way to go there.

We came into Oasis on the Beach for the Sunday Brunch after a disappointing couple of breakfasts on Kauai. First and foremost, the view was gorgeous! I mean, it IS Hawaii, but the view in the open-air dining room was 180 degrees of beauty! I loved sitting in the shaded dining room, but with all sides open, feeling the ocean breeze and hearing the waves on the shore just beyond the restaurant. Side Note; J was also happy that he could watch the Sunday Football games on the TV over the bar in the same room. I was happy I never once noticed it. The service was among the best we've experienced in Kauai. Our drinks were always refilled without ever having to ask. Now onto the food... I ordered the Loco Moco w/Cognac Gravy. I LOVE Loco Mocos and try to order it anywhere I can. I've never seen a "Cognac Gravy" anywhere else and this gravy was definitely unique and top-notch! I like my Loco Moco soggy, so I did ask for more gravy on the side. No problem! The hamburger patty was cooked well - medium pink inside. The rice was the only problem I had - but it's been a reoccurring issue on the whole island. I guess Kaua'i folks like their rice kind of hard (like 2 days old style). J ordered the Brisket Hash w/Sunny Side Up Egg and I have to say this dish was THE BEST breakfast item I've tasted yet on the whole trip! If you like savory dishes, this is the one for you! The brisket was sooo flavorful, tender, and delicious! Mixed with the "hash", which was more of a soft, chopped potatoes and the runny egg yolk, I have to admit I enjoyed J's dish more than my own! I did end up eating like half of it! I wanted to come back another day to order the Brisket Hash for myself. Alas, the waitress informed us that most of the Sunday Brunch menu is not available any other day, and the restaurant is only open for lunch and dinner on other days. I can see coming back here for a sunset dinner to enjoy the view. I'd highly suggest making a reservation to get a good spot. I used Open Table from their website and it was a breeze.

Great service, awesome staff, owner Stephen takes care of his guests.. What more can I say? I've never once had a bad experience, and the food is always phenomenal. They serve the best mai tai I've ever had (and I lived in Los Angeles). They use fresh, local ingredients, and they support local farmers markets. I've been here far too many times to count, and every meal of the day is to die for. You won't regret grabbing a meal here.

This place was fantastic on all levels. Service, ambiance and food. Our server, Leigh, was great. So sweet, attentive and knowledgeable. My husband and I started with cocktails, a Mai tai and grapefruit martini, I recommend them both. We had a late lunch, so weren't starving, so it was great that they had half portions. We shared the soup, which was a ginger carrot and then he had the half grilled fish and I had the beet salad. All food is sourced locally, which we love, so everything was very fresh. The banana spring roll for dessert is a must! And if you go early, you can't beat the view...right on the ocean! Overall a great experience...I definitely recommend.

I came back here in the summer of 2012. I sat outside a few times, the view was awesome. They had a band playing one of the nights, it was pretty cool. I was staying here at the hotel, so I would stop in every happy hour for a couple of drinks before going out to dinner even though my hotel room refrigerator is loaded with cocktails. I love this place.

There is something really special happening at Oasis, and it is difficult to know where to start. If you want the short version, know this: The chef at Oasis really loves food. He is a master of understatement who treats his locally-grown ingredients as Mozart treated the notes of a symphony. Perfectly placed, consistently-themed, fastidious attention to structure. If you love food, do not miss an experience at the Oasis. It was an evening of firsts for me. Yes, I heard Led Zeppelin played live on a ukulele. Martini with a sugar-salt paprika rim. A wine from New Mexico (liked it), an IPA from Japan served informatively by a young man who looked like a tanned version of Puckerman from Glee. We sat outside in the middle of the lanai (open patio), just a few feet from the ocean with a warm wind making a perfect complement. We were told up front that the menu is "small plates" - or "tapas" as we know them elsewhere. They are intended to be shared and ordered in sets (2 or 3 per person is perfect). They are not courses, per se. Last night, 85% of the items on the plate were from farmers and ranchers on this island. Given the variety of plates, and the variety of items that comprise those plates, it is an amazing feat. We opted for a prix fixe menu ($35) that, when combined with per-course wine pairing (a $15 add-on), was only $50 per person (though it actually ended up costing a bit less). First courses had grilled kale with Gruyere, taro wontons with cheese and sea salt with a lovely coconut dipping sauce (wow!). A Grilled blue marlin came next with Polynesian greens and lentils, Fresh Ahi served two different ways - one seared (kissed by fire, really) and sliced paper thin, the other served tartare in a chili sauce marinade topped with beautiful purple and green baby watercress-like sproutlets. The final big fork was brought out for a local tenderloin served on succotash and their (signature?) beef cheeks (which are, I understand, just that) that have been slow cooked to tender succulence and served with a stunning purple heirloom carrot flan that conjured half a year of holidays in my mouth, from Thanksgiving to Easter. Artful. The apple-banana spring rolls were clearly the work of someone who at some point loved the simple gracefulness of Cuban food, but knew it could be much, much more. My sweet corn panna cotta was genius, served with a basil-infused sweet cream and "candied bacon", which were absolutely perfect and left me near tears. As for the wine pairing, I found it admirable, but it could use a bit more work. We were not always clear what we were drinking with the courses, but they were nice choices (New Mexico sparkling, California cabs, Rhone-style blends and a Termpranillo). If you are remotely wine-curious, you'll find it certainly worth the $15 charge. The plates came out promptly, though with a nice pacing that allowed to fully enjoy the restaurant and it's beautiful surroundings. It is a well managed house that is clean, attractive, and fortunate to have a staff of people that love what they are creating there. It is both fun and serious food that will be cherished by us for some time to come.

This is a must when you visit Kauai (Wailua-Kapa'a). Expect $100+ (dinner for two, cocktails to desert) and it is worth every penny. It starts with the service, ask for Henry; his recommendations are spot on. The food is delicious; take your time, you will want to enjoy every bite. It IS farm to table fresh. Fish doesn't get any fresher here, tonight the Ono tartar appetizer and seared Ahi were stellar. The pork chop was moist tender and delicious. Like an after dinner drink? I was introduced to J Vineyards (Sonoma, California) Pear Liqueur; this brandy is delightful. The pear notes are wonderful with a warm buttery taste and texture. Thank you, Henry. The view is great, ambience excellent and very romantic. Need some economy with that view? Happy hour 3-6pm, half price signature drinks and more. If you can have only one dinner on Kauai, make this the one.

Ok folks this is a complicated review, so let's get started. First the view is incredible so if your only after a great view and can't get to the beach house then eat here. Sunset isn't great... The service is terribly slow and pompous. We wanted to order fish and they only served one fish Ahi. Grilled, Raw, or Seared. We ordered it grilled as we were done with raw and seared. It came seared. For a salad we ordered the Capress and it was 4 med slices of tomatoes and a teaspoon full of a strange soft cheese. Was expensive for what we got. Also ordered a beat salad. I love beats. These things where hard as a rock and may have just been pulled from the ground. Not impressed at all but was hungry so I ate it all. Ordered the Cow's Cheek for a main course. This and the Ahi took a total of 87 min's to bring out from a remote kitchen not attached to the building. Be aware the food is brought in from somewhere else and not the building your in. This just adds time and helps your food cool off before its brought to you. The meals are intentionally small so your encouraged to order 3 items per person. This would be ok given they had nice options. Not the place for a vegetarian to go at all. They will just laugh at you. My wife won't eat meat. We had to ask for water and then for refills each time. In a nice place like this I expect service. They don't have any bread but do have little bread plates on the table. I asked for bread. Told they don't offer it. Had the Gin and Tonic but made thier way with Beats. Was like drinking a gin and lime drink. Was terrible and not very tasty. I would not recommend that. They don't take Amex as I figure they are too cheap to get the merchant account. They also couldn't take my Discover card. Claimed it didn't work yet I had no problem at the next place I went too. All in all we ran from this place as fast as we could and went to another place that offered a much better selection of food and service. We trust the Hawaiian people much more then the Main-landers trying to run this dump. I bet next year this place will be something different. Hope this helps folks. To sum it up, Waste of time.

My first visit was just for drinks and pupus. I loved the fingerling potatoes with the holandaise sauce. Every potato was crisp and delicious, with just the right amount of seasoning. The sauce was delicious and citrus-y. There was enough sauce for every potato, but not so much that there was a soggy puddle at the bottom. The presentation was terrific. Drinks were great, staff was very friendly. Will be back for sure!

The location of this restaurant couldn't be better, right on the beach - gorgeous. Additionally the food is wonderful, everything we ordered was delicious, local and creative. Unfortunately, you need to order at least 3 entrees for each person dining - really everything on the menu is an appetizer. The entrees we ordered for the kids were really dumbed down and overcooked. If you go there with children, do yourself a favor and just order them food from the regular menu. The waiter was S L O W and quite frankly, arrogant although the bartender was very charming, down to earth and really made sure we were enjoying our drinks, which we were! If I hadn't been so hungry and had been made aware of the fact that you actually need to order as though everything is an appetizer I would have been able to ignore the young-pompous-ecofoody-know it all waiter who treats everyone as though they normally dine at McDonalds and The Olive Garden. Thank you for gracing us with your edification.

One of my best friends and I would come to this place once every couple of months to catch up on "girl" time and we usually have a blast. This last time dined in was last week Saturday 7/21 and I was so disappointed at the food preparation and customer service that we will not be returning. I ordered the fish with risotto, and instead I asked for my fish to be seared instead of grilled. Because Oasis stressed on local ingredients, I love to get a fish dish, and this was the first time I got the risotto with my fish. My friend always gets the braised beef, so she got it again. The presentation was beautiful, but my fish was really really cold in the middle, which is understandable being that it was seared, but it was almost icee. Being that I've lived in Hawai'i all my life, and ate at almost all the nice restaurants (it's my job, I work at a local resort), I know how seared fish should be served and this was not it. The fish being freakishly old was not the worst part though, it was my risotto. Half of my risotto was crunchy, it was so bad I had to leave the table to spit it out and pick it out of my teeth. Because we had an bread, an appetizer and I already ate the outside of my fish and half of my risotto, I didn't really want to eat more. I did tell the waitress about my risotto being under done and I usually don't complain to the staff, but I was just really shocked that they would serve that. I asked if they could take it back because of the rice and I was done eating. Five minutes later, our waitress brings out another plate of what I ordered, but told her I couldn't eat any more because I was full. She insisted to pack it to go. What really did it for me was that I STILL HAD TO PAY FOR MY MEAL. After I saw my entree on the bill, I decided to never return and not recommend the restaurant to our hotel guests. My friend was planning a party for her mom for about 20 people and she also decided to take business else where. The customer service could have turned this situation around, but passed up the opportunity to make a few more bucks that night. It ultimately lost them our loyalty and potential business from others. (Oh and my friends beef had more fat than actual meat. Some people love fat, but my friend was a bit put off by her dish as well)

I am giving this five stars for what it is...high end, high priced, social & eco-minded gourmet. If that is what you want, this is as good as you are going to find. The atmosphere is spectacular. It is on the beach. We sat outside and it was pretty breezy. Both kids took them up on an offer of a shawl to cover their legs with. I just loved the warm wind. The server was the best we have had in Kauai. Very personable, very attentive, and very knowledgeable about the unusual menu. Personally I love unusual unique foods. My kids each got mac and cheese. My hubby just told me to order (pretty sure he was humoring me by eating there). All the food is meant to be "tapas" style, which I love as a nibbler. This means however that there are no huge meat and potato kind of portions. We tried the ceviche, taro felafel, satay, and beef cheeks. I loved all of it. My hubby had never had ceviche and he gobbled it down so fast I hardly got a bite. I had never tried beef cheeks and they were a beyond tender braised delight. The carrot "flan" (why they called it flan I don't know) served with the cheeks was also unique and yummy even if it was more of a puree. The satay was pretty rare which is how I like meat, but my cook it until it resembled beef jerky husband was not a fan. The felafel was also a very unusual treat we will never see again. Portions were small but perfect. We also tried four of their signature cocktails. One was some kind of beet thing that was highly touted...it had an odd taste to it. My hubby had a maple manhattan that was actually really good. The second round he tried some kind of elderberry sloe gin fizz that was really flowery and delightful and I opted for the Thai martini. I like the martini better than the Beet drink. I had high hopes for the beet one...I really love beets. The other nice thing is that they are all about (did I mention ALL about) locally harvested foods that are eco-friendly. My little shrimp eaters wanted a prawn dish we saw on line. They told us they disagree with the way they are harvested so they have pulled all the prawn/shrimp from the menu. It is nice that if that is their schitck...that they really are sticking to it.

in terms of ambience and environment...you're in hawaii, and in a resort...kinda speaks for itself! Now to the food. I wish I could give this place a better score as it seems like so many people like this place, but in terms of my food experience, it really wasn't all that great. Appetizers...went for the tartare bruschetta...good, but not anything special. Pork wontons, honestly I like the frozen potstickers Ling Lings from costco more. Entree...Ordered the seared ahi tuna...go to Kilauea Fish Market, their tuna is better. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either, and a portion of it was stringy and chewy. Came with the family so tried their dishes too. The beef tenderloin was overcooked, and pretty pedestrian overall with mashed potatoes and green beans. Also tried the brisket, which was my least favorite. It was a bit on the dry side, and was saved by their sauce (which was a sour sauce, which was good, but was too overpowering in the green beans served with it). Overall, it wasn't a bad meal, but wasn't a great one either. Don't think I'd really come back, I'd rather go to hukilau lanai.

Five big stars for Oasis' happy hour visit. I went with my husband and two friends and we had a fantastic time. First off, if you book with OPEN TABLE, you get a free "amuse bouche" cocktail in lilikoi skins, so DEFINITELY book on Open table, even if you're going over there in an hour They also give you a bowl of homemade taro chips that are very addictive. We ordered 3 bowls after that. During happy hour, their signature cocktails are half off, and they don't use like absolut or other lower-quality stuff, they use like grey goose pear vodka, etc. 6 bucks for fancy martinis that are delicious are my kind of thing! They also have $3 draft beers (you can get longboard!). The food is regular priced, but delicious. I highly recommend the oxtail risotto, corn fritters, falafel, beef cheek, ceviche, and choco banana bread. All super high-quality but pricier than other places (not too bad though - any place that serves a meat dish for 13 bucks isn't pricey to me). One of my favorite things about the restaurant was the service. Everyone was super friendly and down to earth. The bartender was very talented - like poured 4 drinks at once - and the host guy & dish guy were cheery. The view, like other reviewers said, is breath-taking. Usually, restaurants with this kind of view have crappy food, so it was a nice surprise. If you're on the island and are looking for happy hours with high-quality drinks (for a lower price), definitely come here!

Wow, I was pleasantly surprised. Billed as a mostly-local food restaurant (they try to source their food almost entirely from the island of Kauai), Oasis on the Beach turned out some very sophisticated and delicious food. It's location on the beach is unbeatable, but they are tucked away in the back of the Outrigger resort in Waipouli, so it's the last place I would expect to serve such delicately flavored and well-balanced dishes. On Wednesdays from 4-6pm they have one dish from every section of their menu at 50% off - an awesome deal. I highly recommend the braised beef cheeks w/ carrot flan, the ceviche, and the desserts. I wish it were closer to my hotel so that I could have eaten there more often!

Wife wanted to take me out to a "nice" (read dressed up) meal, and Oasis on the Beach was suggested. The restaurant was a mix of couples with the same idea and beach goers. Service was stellar (5 / 5).. The food left a little to be desired.. Pork Wontons were a bit over fried, dip very salty (2.5 / 5) We both had the Ahi, grilled and seared. The Ahi Tuna steaks came out close to rare (vs a solid medium which the wife requested and prefers) but she didn't notice in the dim lighting and I enjoy rare. Additionally the tuna it's self was a bit bland. (3 / 5) I enjoyed the freshness and flavor of the fish taco truck "Al Pastor" more for a quarter of the price.

We were looking forward to eating here because of their use of locally sourced ingredients but were a little worried about the recent yelp reviews. We agree with comments that it was hard to find, better signage after the lobby would help but knowing it was on the beach we just went that direction. Decor felt very much like the hotel restaurant that it is, tables were very long so we felt really far apart even though it was a table for two. Remedied that by moving a chair to the side. Food was ok. Nothing was bad but there were more fried choices than we would have liked. We had the sweet potato chips that they automatically bring, the beet salad and caprese salad, the taro wontons, and the fish tartar. For dessert, the apple banana spring roll was delicious. Service was fine, somewhat "precious" if you know what I mean. The waiter felt the need to "explain" everything, what small plates are, where every ingredient came from, but also pressured us to order everything at once which is not typical for small plate restaurants and we told him we would rather order one or two things at a time. The servings were average size to large for a small plate restaurant. We would not make this a go-to restaurant when on island.

the server I had - Taryn - was really friendly and nice and informative. i overheard her with other tables and I think she's a great server who definitely caters to each of her table's needs. The bartender I had tonight - Ryan - was amazing. He was really friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. The restaurant is amazing and the food is fantastic. I had the corn fritters (really good crunch with the right batter to corn ratio) with a good dipping sauce, the ahi poke (also spot on with the sesame oil to shoyu ratio/ ahi to avocado ratio), the oxtail risotto with local island tomatoes; the tomatoes had a fresh tang that balanced the earthiness of the oxtail, and finally the beef cheeks with carrot flan and mushrooms. the beef cheeks had a great tenderness to them and a great crisp on the outside of the meat. and the carrot flan was truly incredible, including nutmeg and cinnamon, balancing out the salt and beef of the cheeks with the sweetness and spice of the cinnamon and nutmeg. as for the bar, i drank my own personal standard drink, but the bartender made me a signature drink from the bar with vodka that had been infused with lemongrass & kaffir lime leaves and a chili/sugar rim. beautiful drink with literally nothing else that i would change about or add to the drink (and i'm an extremely picky drinker). there's nothing bad i can say about the restaurant or the service and i truly hope that other people find time in their trips to enjoy the restaurant and bar as much as i have! my biggest worry is that people won't appreciate oasis for what it is: hands down, flat out amazing. the service and food are truly above par and expectation for kauai and most of the islands, in general. having traveled all over the states and overseas, oasis is truly doing something different. not only has oasis created a menu that is truly different, but they've recruited people who truly believe in and love what their doing and what they've created. oasis is the first restaurant that compelled me to write a review, after being a yelp member for well over a year. the food is outstanding and they're giving back to the island and its farmers, which is truly incredible and special and worth a night at the restaurant!

Maybe we've been spoiled by two nights of really great dinners elsewhere, but Oasis just didn't stack up. To be fair, the location & the view is 5 stars. Right on the beach & a cool atmosphere. The food is actually good, but way over priced & the portions are appetizer size. My wife & I spent over $70 before a tip, and left hungry. Granted, we both had 2 beers, but it was happy hour & the beers were only $3 each. Now, $3 for a beer is a good deal too, but they only have 2 beers on tap... So any bonus points for cheap happy hour beers are quickly taken away for lack of selection. Bottom line: great ocean front atmosphere, but way over priced food. Skip this one. I'd rather have spent $25 at a local burrito shop & bought a new pair of flip-flops.

First of all...go on Wednesday night! The chef chooses one item from each section of the menu to discount half off! Can't beat that on Kauai! The half off deal actually made the prices reasonable. The tiny portions normally are overly priced. I guess sometimes you have to decide if you want amazing, inventive cuisine or large portions. Save Oasis for a night when you aren't starving and want to try a little bit of several different things. We started with the caprese salad and the ahi appetizer. SO wonderful. I liked how the caprese salad had a local goat cheese as opposed to the run of the mill mozzarella which really made the dish a standout. I have to add they use local ingredients which is nice when you are traveling. Next we ordered the sliders made with Kauai raised beef which was so good we had to order another round. The restaurant itself is open and airy and has a resorty feel. It is right on the beach and has beautiful views. The bar is nice too and our barender, Joel, was very attentive. My one little gripe is they serve Sailor Jerry instead of Captain Morgan. The bartender tried to tell us that Sailor Jerry is superior, but I think that was nonsense...they serve it because it's cheaper. Lame. We ended up skipping dessert and hijacking a luggage rack to ride across the street to pick up some macadamia nut icecream from Safeway...but that's a different story.

Update 8/2015: Eclectic menu, very well prepared. Happy Hour is a very good value, with most drinks and many pupus being discounted from 4pm to 6pm. Ocean side dining our friend/family loves, and a near perfect location. Be sure to leave room for dessert! Great Aloha Friday/Pau Hana stopoff!

Location, food, service -- the trifecta! 5 of us savored every bite & sip. I particularly liked the option of ordering 1/2 portions, which were actually perfectly sized. And the 3 desserts we split were crazy good! Grapefruit bread pudding? Oh, my!

On our week long trip on Kauai, my wife and I decided to pick one night for a nice dinner out. We were planning on going to the Bull Shed but after reading some reviews on Yelp that the place had gone downhill, we decided that Oasis on the Beach might be a better stop. We were not disappointed. All of the food from the complimentary Sweet Potato Chips to our Chocolate Mouse dessert were great. I had the Rib eye, while the wife ordered the Tenderloin. She likes her meat medium, while I'm a medium rare guy. Both steaks were cooked to perfection. Our daughter ate more of her chicken strips than she usually eats when we go out so I'm guessing she liked to food as well. The best part was that everything on the plate tasted great. My rib eye came with a taro croquette, some creamed corn w/ crab and mushrooms. Everything was gone by the time I was done. No garnish was left standing. As far as ambiance, the restaurant is an open air dining room on the beach so if it is breezy, like it was tonight, bring a sweater or jacket and use your cups to hold down the napkins. The beach and tiki torches add some nice island flair. Our server was very nice and our dishes came out quick except for the dessert which seemed to take longer than the entree. Since we weren't in a rush and not particularly hungry anymore, this really didn't bother us. Our dinner for 2 adults (plus one glass of wine) and a keiki came out to about $100 so I don't know about the two $'s that this place is rated. Seems to me that it should be three $'s but still very much worth the price. Oasis on the Beach is a highly recommended place by me.

The setting is beautiful and makes for a perfect dinner spot for a couple. My wife and I had the ahi and curry with brown snapper. Both were delicious. The ahi came with mashed purple sweet potato. It was a great combination with the rich ahi. The curry was a yellow curry with mixed garden vegetables. I had never had brown snapper it was significantly better than any red snapper I have had before. It was anice match with the curry and a firm fish that held up well to the spicey curry. I started my meal with the clams. They were good but not great. The dessert was a banana stuffed spring roll with salted caramel ice cream. It was very tasty and rich. Overall I would recommend Oasis for dinner.

Lovely Resort if you have bucks to burn. The drinks here will send you packing. $12.50 for one short MaiTai at happy hour!! Yikes !! Poorly made at that. Milky, no fruit, no umbrella, with a lime. (someone needs to tell them MaiTai is not made with lime. At that price it should have Carmen Miranda dancing on top of it. Unfriendly atmosphere; not for me.

Truly an "Oasis" for food! We ate there on Saturday February 12, 2011. It was fantastic! From the Ahi with Truffle and soy to the Waimea prawns, Kevin's Catch and Pau'uilo tenderloin - it was all conceived and prepared perfectly, and the wine pairings while limited were spot on. The wait staff were well informed and genuinely interested in our experience and the food. The young chef, Zach Sato, showed an amazing sophistication across the entire menu using almost all local foods. Really a treat!

Went here for happy hour, the food was so so... The drink specials were their bartenders own concoction. The waitress insisted on them and told us that they were so good because they were made from local fresh ingredients.... Now as a bartender I know there are a few healthy ways to make drinks were they taste even better than using pre-made mixes, but this place should probably stick to the basics. We drank every special drink they had and each was worse than the one before. If I were to judge them on appearance I would probably give them a 5 star. But I would rather drink something I could drink not just take pictures of. Dinner here must be better than happy hour by the looks of the reviews, stick to what you know when ordering your drinks! ;)

This was the best meal we had the entire week we spent in Kauai. The restaurant is located on the grounds of a hotel with an amazing pool. Dinner was fantasic, very fresh fish that was cooked perfectly and my husbands pork chop was fork tender - no knife needed. We started with a Mai Tai which was $12 and not the Mai Tai that I am used to but it was good. Far less sweet than a standard Mai Tai and a bit stronger on the rum. I would not order one again, just not my taste for $12.00. I had the appetizer of the taro won tons with coconut dipping sauce. Won Tons did not have much flavor but the sauce and the won tons were fantastic. Hubby got a salad with arugula and some fancy cheese from Spain and it was very good. I had the grilled ono on a bed of lentils with some other vegetable I never heard of that comes from a Filipino tree of some sort but it was all delicious. Hubby had the pork chop and it was also delicious. Dessert was homemade s'mores and a banana/apple roll with salted carmel gelato. Wow, those made the whole thing. The plates are small, tapas style plates so there are no heaping mounds of food on these. They are meant to be shared and we did share and enjoyed every bite. The prices are high, we paid around $100 with a tip for 2 drinks, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 1 dessert (one dessert was complimentary from our hotel) so this is not cheap eats Hawaiian style. The food was excellently prepared, fresh and delicious and well worth the money in our opinion. The ambiance was also great since you are seated in dim lighting with tiki torches burning and the ocean just beyond your table.

Simply amazing. Located in the Outrigger Waipoli Resort - you have to walk through the Resort, past the giant fish pond, swimming pool, and then the pool grill. Initially it seems like it is colossally out of the way, until you realize the reason you have to walk so far is because the restaurant is literally on the beach. As in half the seating is outdoors, overlooking the water. AWESOME. And, if it's cold out, they can bring you blankets so you can still enjoy being out along the shore. The menu is pretty small (only a handful of appetizers, salads and main courses, all fitting on a single half-sheet of paper), but the food is of really exceptional quality. The ingredients are locally sourced ingredients, almost all from Kauai. We had the ceviche, which was fresh and nicely seasoned, the beet salad, which was enormous and crisp, the catch of the day, which was perfectly cooked, and the apple-banana spring roll, which came with a nicely crisped wrap and a perfectly sweet, soft center. All in all, I would definitely come here again, and I'd say this is a must visit for any foodie in Kauai!

I dont usually go to a place with only 4 reviews (that's how many they had when we went about a month ago) - especially if they're all super positive- gotta be friends of the owner right? But after 6 days of so-so food in such an amazing setting we really wanted to find some undiscovered gem with great locally sourced food and a fabulous view. Found it! Sure, it's a bit worrying that it seems to be connected to a big time-share/condo/hotel thing but it's in a separate little building and if you sit facing the water, you can forget that monstrosity is behind you. Simply put, the food is fantastic. Every dish we ordered was unique and very very tasty. Another star for the service. I have to say, most of the service we encountered on our vacation was lacking in one way or another - from nice but clueless, to blatantly bored and disinterested. We were sick of it. So we were so happy that at Oasis, our server was enthusiastic AND knowledgeable about the food and wine, attentive but not annoying. The view was wonderful and we even enjoyed a brief rain during which they simply closed the glass doors so we could still enjoy the ocean view. Oh and they had a band. We got there early while the band was setting up and we were a bit worried they'd be really loud but they weren't. And although they were definitely catering to a boomer sort of crowd with Neil Young covers and such, they were really good so it was fun. If only we had discovered this place before our last night on the island!

We had an amazing dinner at Oasis! Don't get turned down by the fact it's difficult to find and looks very casual: food us local and if the menu is small, creativity is there. We had the prix fix 3 course menu with wine paring ($35+$15): veggies were ok, we had the taro falafels. But the entrees were amazing: oxtail risotto and beef cheek were a true experience. For dessert, the basil panda cotta with candied bacon and ginger creme brûlée were sooo good! I will definitely recommend.

You really can't get any closer to the beach when dining here, so the views are fantastic. Our waiter who's name I can't remember was very nice and provided us with excellent and attentive service. The food was pretty excellent, we shared the Caprese Salad and Prawns. The Caprese Salad had very fresh tomatoes, served with goat cheese and pesto. I was slightly disappointed with the pesto as I love fresh basil. Nonetheless it was still tasty. The Prawns were good but came with their heads attached, something I wasn't expecting. The food was over priced for their tiny portions. I wouldn't recommend eating here for dinner but a nice and pricey place for Happy Hour.

My wife and i came to hawaii for our honeymoon. We visited kauai and oahu. We went to this place on our first night as a recommendation of the Enterprise rental car agent of all things. I honestly couldn't have been more pleased. While this restaurant was not mentioned in a single guidebook that we had looked at, it provided one of the best meals we had on either of the islands. The shrimp cake appetizer was amazing, the mai thai was the best we had and was the only one that wasn't overly sweet to the point of tasting like candy, and the entrees were on point. My only complaint with the whole meal was the creme brulee desert, which was overportioned and not necessarily to our taste. Though not to say that some others might enjoy it. We had a great seat overlooking the ocean, the service was a-ok, and the "live entertainment" was not overly obtrusive. If you are staying in Kapaa or nearby I highly recommend checking this place out.

Our kids were looking forward to their food that we ordered to eat at the Waipouli Beach Resort pool that the restaurant is located on. We ordered 5 keiki (child) plates with appetizers and food for the adults. We waited 30 minutes only to be told that we had to wait another 25 minutes. We overheard the Cook swearing foul words interspersed with keiki food on the phone. The cooks do all their cooking in a hut next to the pool and away from the restaurant., that's how we overheard the cook. We told the manager what we heard and demanded our money back. We did not want any food cooked for our kids that was being heavily sweared at! We are people born and raised on Kauai with Aloha, this restaurant does NOT HAVE ALOHA OR CLASS. Would never go back here again.

Eck. Wouldn't go back if you paid me to. The food was tasty, but we had to wait a good 50 minutes to see any of it after ordering! I don't know if they were having an off night or something, but the communication in this place was terrible, and it's not like the place was slammed. We were one of six occupied tables. We'd repeatedly ask for bread, no bread would come. We'd ask if the door could be closed to stop the cold breeze from hitting us in the face, no one would do anything. They seemed well staffed, but no one seemed to be doing anything. Our server was sweet enough and tried to make small talk but what we really wanted was for someone to tell us what the feckin malfunction was! I'm sorry, but if you're going to charge this kind of money for extremely small-portioned food, the service had better be spectacular.

Upon arriving at the resort, my wife and I headed down for the 2 for 1 appetizer special. The seating by the ocean is magnificent, and the server was very knowledgeable. The best item we had was the ahi poke. The drink were also well done. Easy place to recommend, especially if you are staying nearby.

The location is wonderful, although hard to find (no adjacent parking) and the food is well prepared, but the restaurant had run out of several items on the menu at 7:30, and only two dishes really wow'd me (the short rib & the apple banana desert) . I was glad we went, but don't plan on going back.

Some of the BEST MEALS I'VE EVER HAD!! Me and my girlfriend just spent a week on Kauai and ate dinner at Oasis twice. By far the best food we had on the island and probably some of the best meals I've ever had. The service is AMAZING and the food is even better. We had the ceviche and pork dish the first night. The ceviche is a little different than what I'm use to, but the fish was really fresh and tasty. The pork loin was probably the juiciest pork I've ever had. They use as many local products as possible and Kauai must have some really good pork running around the island. The other thing I had, which the waiter recommended after I ordered a beer, was this Japanese beer called Hitachino. Really good beer!! My girlfriend had the Layer Cake Malbec which she also really enjoyed. After hearing that Kauai has one of the largest cattle ranches in the US with 100% organic grass fed beef, I just had to find a place to try some. But when I asked around, no one could recommend a good steakhouse. So I noticed on the first night at Oasis that they had a ribeye on the menu. So we go back the second night for the beef. We ordered the Big Island Filet appetizer (special for the day) and the ribeye medium-rare. Talk about some good, juicy, tender beef. This also rivaled any steak I've had on the mainland. This time I tried the Hitachino XH which was much better than the Hitachino JCA I had the first night. Needless to say I walked out with a full stomach and pretty buzzed. This place is NOT TO BE MISSED if you're in Kauai and looking for a good meal in a beautiful restaurant overlooking the beach. And I forgot to mention they have live music every night. Both nights we were there, the music was really good.

Very nice setting a good menu. The food was really fresh and very good. The service was quite slow - one waitress appeared to be waiting on all tables, with servers and bus boys. Food took a long time too. Good place, but you need to have patience.

A great setting right on the beach but not a place to go if you're really hungry. My wife and I spent $110 and left hungry. That's makes it extremely over priced. A single lamb ravioli is $15- absurd.. However, our cocktails were great. Oasis is an obvious choice, if youre staying at the hotel, to have some cocktails, gaze at the gorgeous ocean views, and have an appetizer before your dinner destination. But im not sure id go out of my way to visit otherwise.

Had dinner with my fiance. They serve half portions so you can try several dishes. Had the curry, grilled fish, and beef tenderloin. Great place to get dinner on the beach in Kapa'a. Great Hawaiian-inspired cuisine. Great atmosphere and great service. Very quiet and spatious.

Awesome atmosphere, great food, cool guys. We met a resident in Lihue who told us to try it out because it was new and had not started advertising yet. It is on the beach within the Waipouli Beach Resort (across from Safeway Shopping Center). The food is QUALITY and the drinks are good. Neat local place.

We went to dinner here the first night because we stayed at the Outrigger. This restaurant overlooks the water so definitely sit outside. The food is a bit overpriced in my opinion but they use local products in a lot of their food which is great. Our server was very knowledgable of the good and gave us some recommendations. When the kitchen messed up on our dessert order, she brought us what we ordered and apologized. The drinks also used natural products from the island which is cool but it shows in the price too. The Mai Tai was good but worth 12.50? No. I then settled for the happy hour beer. I got the pork Chop which was good and had lots of flavor. For small eaters, they have half portions too which is awesome. Definitely try the white chocolate lavender gelato! That was my favorite part of the meal.

I'm not sure how this place gets such great reviews. We went here on our first night on the island, we rented a condo at the resort and it's in the same complex with decent reviews, we figured we were good to go. There was a couple that were stumbling out as we were on our way in. Seriously, they were wasted, the guy had no shirt on and could barely walk. It's a weird mix in here, they try and bill themselves as upscale but then they have people in bathing suits wasted stumbling out. It was around 8 pm when we got there, so past happy hour and well into dinner time. There were a few tables of older people, one with a family and then us. We got seated, waited several minutes and no one ever came to take a drink order or anything. Finally the guy that seated us noticed this and came over. He seemed very confused and ended up taking our drink order. We each got the pineapple martini which was tasty. After looking at the very small, limited menu we decided on some food. We started with the won ton's which were your basic fried pork won ton. They were good but nothing to write home about. My husband got the tenderloin (full size) and I got the kale salad. Neither were that great. Don't get me wrong, they were alright, but totally over priced for what it was. Finally our server showed up, not sure where she had been or what was going on but she took over once our food was delivered. I ended up getting the lemongrass martini which was disgusting. If you like to drink something that tastes like pledge, or pine sol then this is your drink. It took both of us to choke it down. We got the apple and banana dessert which was good, but again small and over priced. I've had many very good meals. I don't mind paying for good food and service but this place misses the mark. I think they bet on having a somewhat captive audience here, which is why they serve and charge what they do. I've had stellar dinners in Vegas for the same price at Delmonico. I guess I was expecting too much from this place. So, if you go, know that the menu is very limited and over priced. The drinks are hit and miss, but the service is decent once everyone shows up for work.

Great restaurant and great location. We had the Tenderloin and fresh Ahi. The view is lovely, and the restaurant was one of the nicer ones we'd been to on the island. Apple Banana spring roll dessert was divine! Only thing is to relax and be on Island Time as the service was slow even by Hawaiian standards. Otherwise, it'd have been five stars!

I was really excited to visit Oasis since it publicizes Farm to Table cuisine. We had a reservation, but they clearly were overwhelmed even from the moment we arrived. We were seen to our table immediately, which had a lovely view, but were told no menus were available. It took about 10 minutes to even get water. When our waiter appeared finally, he said that he would go find menus for us. 10 minutes later, he gave us menus, ran through the specials and was about to run off again when I asked if we could order a drink. 20+ minutes passed before we had a drink and we were at our table about 45 minutes before the first course arrived. We are on Island time, but even this was ridiculous. We went for long stretches of empty drinks and waiting for someone to come by that we could ask for salt/pepper (which weren't on the table.) etc. I enjoyed the flavor of my spicy mango manhattan, though toward the end it was quite thick and pulpy. My husband said he liked the MaiTai. We were given a tiny bit of bread, which was fresh, but hardly enough to serve 4 people. My husband ordered the Ahi Tartare " Bruschetta" on crostini. It was obvious the fish was not very fresh, so they were using it in the appetizer to mask the flavor. He also had a huge sinewy piece which couldn't be eaten. (and I mean, like the WHOLE piece on the crostini.) My lamb won tons were well seasoned, but quite greasy. The server plopped our main courses down in front of us, all in the wrong place, without even asking. He disappeared without even asking if we needed anything, even though our drinks were empty. My son ordered the short rib with truffled fried rice and green beans. He loved the green beans. But the short rib was also truffled and was served dry. It was not very good. My daughter had Grilled Ono with Saimin Noodles in Dashi Broth. She enjoyed it. I also had the Ono with sticky rice and curry. It all came in one bowl, but it was all so congealed, you couldn't mix it together. The Ono was good, but the curry was disgusting. So congealed and mushy...it was like taking some left overs out of the fridge 3 days later. The flavors were there, but the texture was gross. I love curry, but this was not like any curry I've ever had. The breaking point was when I suddenly realized a hair was in my mouth after my last bite. My husband had the 14 oz steak with pureed mashed potatoes (which were just regular mashed potatoes) and spinach. It was ok, nothing special. Definitely not grass fed, but quite tough for grain fed beef. When we finally found our waiter again and told him about the hair, he offered free dessert, but by this point we had been there 2 hours and not really in the mood for dessert. To his credit, he took our drinks off the bill. But it was a case of too little too late. So disappointed.

Delicious drinks. The pineapple martini was sublime! The fresh catch was quite the catch indeed! Hebi...never had it before tonight but I want a lot more of it so long as the Oasis chef is preparing it!! The steak was cooked exactly as it should be and the side dishes were out of this world!! The staff was so sweet and really catered to us and even took time to write down places we should go. The view was perfection and if it wasn't our first time in Kauai we would eat there every night all week!!!!!!

We had one of our nicest, or maybe THE nicest dinner, here during our trip to Kauai. We were out for the day and in the area, and decided to have a bit of an early dinner at this restaurant and it was a great choice. We actually got there during happy hour and enjoyed some cocktails (at happy hour prices...nice!). They made a great martini with raspberry and...not sure what else was in it. They also have a nice wine selection. We ordered appetizers and fish entrees. Everything was super tasty and well prepared. The ambiance was nice and we ate with a direct view of the ocean. The servers were very friendly and had great personalities. I highly recommend this restaurant and would DEFINITELY come back.

Me and my family checked out Oasis on the Beach on our first night in Kauai, and it left us quite satisfied. The service was punctual and the entire wait staff gave a kind and welcoming vibe. The manager even made it his business to come over during the meal to ensure that our food was good and that our service had been punctual. I ordered two small appetizers for a meal and both were delicious. The calamari was perfectly cooked and served in a delicious tangy sauce. The pork potstickers were also very good and they complemented the calamari very well. However between both of the appetizers, I left feeling underfed. This may have been due to what I ordered, but other members of my party also felt similarly towards their entrées. It also leans toward the pricey side, but the quality of food does seem to make up for it. At the end of the day, the pros heavily outweigh the cons and if you are in Kauai definitely set aside a night to enjoy the food that Oasis on the Beach has to offer

Great food. Great service. Good cool breezy seating. My husband had great ahi curry and I had ahi with sweet potatoe purée. Loved them both. They specialize in farm to table ingredients. They only offer a catch of the day and ours was just ahi. Wish there was more fish variety. Try the Macadamia hot buttered rum! Delish!

Very good farm to table restaurant. Most items were locally grown. Really pleasantly surprised by the food, tasty and fresh. Our server was friendly and very informative. We had the pleasure of staying at the resort that the restaurant shares a property with so it was super for convenience. They also serve brunch on Sunday and have a happy hour with occasional live music. My other half has a mobility scooter which easily rolled into the restaurant without being in the way at all. Would definitely recommend to others.

This was hands down my favorite dining experience on Kauai. I feel like we hit the dinner trifecta with the atmosphere, food, and service. Every aspect of this meal was enjoyable. Our table was located on the front patio facing the ocean. We were greeted at the table with a complimentary appetizer of edible flowers filled with a goat cheese mixture. It was a lovely surprise that was both beautiful and delicious. It actually made us want to single out things on the menu containing goat cheese just so we could have it again. We started with the fresh catch tartar and clams. The fresh catch tartar was made with uku (grey snapper) and was definitely a highlight of the evening. The fish was delicate, tender, and buttery. My husband and I both thought it had potential to be the new favorite fish. The clams were delicious as well. You could not possibly go wrong with either of these appetizers. For our entrees my husband had the burger which he said was excellent. I went with the half order of short rib with bacon and truffle fried rice. It was fantastic. The short rib literally fell apart when I put my fork to it. I also love that I could get a half order. More restaurants should pick up this trend! I really think the best part about Oasis on the Beach was the service. Our server was very friendly and knowledgable. All of his food and drink recommendations were spot on. He took the time to explain the locality of the ingredients to us and also gave us some tips on other places to visit on the island to experience some of the same. I only wish I could remember his name so I could give him a shout out! You will not regret your decision to eat at Oasis on the Beach.

The service was simply awful and our food was overcooked and cold. I found out later that the kitchen is far away from the actual restaurant, which is likely why it was so difficult for them to execute our brunch service. We were a large group, but did not have complicated orders. Our food took nearly an hour from the time we ordered and had clearly been under the warming lamps for a bit. Sadly, our server didn't keep us updated and did not check back for refills on drinks after our food finally arrived. So sad, seemed like a good menu. I was glad that they served the two children in our group first and the setting is lovely.

Wow! Amazing food, outdoor seating, and great service. First class all the way. Thank you Oasis!

Oasis is fabulous and Henry is the best!! We had dinner there on Tuesday nite and returned Wednesday late afternoon for their Entertainment and appetizers. Both were fantastic and such a fun way to spend the evening. We will definitely return every time we are in Kauai. The performers are as good as it gets...a must see. Also the food is superb.

Don't waste your money. My husband and I were in Kauai on our honeymoon and we were given a gift certificate to Oasis as a wedding gift. The service was terrible from the moment we walked in the door. There was no hostess, so we had to wait for our waitress to pick up the phone and talk to someone for an eternity. Finally somebody noticed we were just standing there and came over to assist us. We were taken to our table (which is the only thing they did right, we asked for a good view when we made the reservation and we got one). So of course our waitress was the one who was too busy to help us. That continued throughout the evening. Their menu is unique and not similar to other restaurants we had visited on the island. So we had a few questions but she wouldn't even look us in the eye when talking to us. Her attention was elsewhere. She even walked away from us when we were trying to ask her a question. So no time for us, but she had plenty of time for the table next to us. She talked to them, loudly, about animal abuse, for an extended period of time. Talk about a mood buster. Our food took forever. They keep saying the chef this, they chef that. Don't be fooled. They make your food in a cook shack by the pool. The menu reads like a bad episode of Chopped. I ended up getting the burger and my husband the steak. Not what we thought we should get, but it sounded edible. I asked for my burger to be medium. I got well done. It was literally half the size of the bun. Tiny, overcooked, flavorless burger, on a giant bun. I've had better fries at McDonald's. My husband's steak was OK, but not worth $30. We had to hunt someone down twice to refill our water glasses. They weren't even busy. When the bill finally came it was $72 for 2 people, no alcohol (we don't drink, but the gift certificate explicitly states that it isn't good for alcohol). We had a certificate for $100. It was our last night and even if we had enjoyed the restaurant we wouldn't have been able to come back. So we asked if we could just leave the rest for gratuity. Way more than what she deserved, but what else were we going to do with it. She very rudely told no, we can't. I asked her why not, because it is not excluded on the gift certificate. She grabbed it out of my hand and went to talk to the manager. Eventually he came back and dropped the gift certificate on our table, he said you have $18 left, so now you have to come back for lunch, and walked off. We were so confused. $18 wasn't the correct balance nor was $10 the right tip for a $72 bill. The entire event took an hour and a half. Ridiculous. If you want a nice dinner in Kapa'a go to the Hukilau Lani 3 min away. Delicious and excellent service.

The food and service are pretty good but the portions too small. We had a party of four and everyone felt the same way. If you want a full meal, you may be disappointed.

This is a hotel restaurant that has a great location, friendly service, but can be pricey for what it delivers. It is farm to table so everything possible is sourced locally which is nice. My dining companions claim to have really good meals (steak). I got the Kauai grass fed burger which wasn't impressive on any level. I asked to substitute the fries with bok choi and they upcharged me and only gave me 4 tiny leaves. I was a bit disappointed but it's possible I just completely ordered the wrong thing too. The mai tai was strong and made well though.

We had our first experience at the "Oasis on the Beach" tonight. What a delight! We were told about the Oasis by a waitress in Poipu when we requested some suggestions for dining on the East side of the Island. We were not disappointed. The location and view is not to be topped! Great cocktails and icey cold beer for happy hour followed by a memorable Arugula Beet salad. We enjoyed Seared Ono and a fabulous Spicey Curry special for our entres and the Apple Banana Fritters for dessert. Our server, Alicia was a delight and very knowledgeable. The live music, The "Knights of Acoustica", Aldrine and Aaron were so enjoyable. amazing musicians, both of them. Aldrine did the vocals and very, very good. We hope to be able to catch up with the, again soon. We are so pleased to have been able to find a "new" favorite on the east side. We will definitely return many times!

Our server, I cannot remember his name, I think it was Will, was knowledgeable and was really good at having an idea of what we would like based off of the poke appetizer we ordered. He suggested another tuna dish that was in a light oil (truffle maybe) and thinly sliced radish. Heaven in my mouth! We then shared the short ribs, which were a little salty but tasty none the less. The ambiance was good, the service was great and when in Kaui we will be back!

Oasis happened to be a myth, what a disappointing experience. We came after a long day and expected a relaxing evening in a good restaurant, but our hopes were crashed with the unfortunate reality. The service was really slow, it took about an hour to get the food out. I was surprised to find out that half a meal was only slightly smaller than the full portion. My husband is a vegetarian, and his quinoa dish resembled more of an appetizer than a meal. He asked the waitress about the size of his dish, and she took it back to the kitchen where the plate seems to be rearranged without any additional food. I ordered a full Shepherds Pie, while our friends had a half portion of the same dish. My plate was different, but the size of the food on the plate was almost equal. The dish itself was tasty, but I expected a better balance between dish, size and price factors. To get a better deal with a wider range of food I suggest to take an appetizer and half portion entry. You'll pay less and will get more food. Overall, I was disappointed, there are better places to dine in.

Incredible meal. Excellent service. Marvelous ambiance. Romantic atmosphere perfect for a date. Authentic, old school cocktails, expertly prepared. Locally grown ingredients. Don't miss this dining experience while on Kaua'i !!!

A fabulous locally sourced restaurant. I had the fresh catch with okinowan sweet mash and bok Choy. Not too much food and not too little! A triumph of flavors! I do wish the service was a little faster but it was really not bad either. I'm going back for brunch very soon!

Went in tonight without a reservation and was quickly seated. Our server Doreen was great! She was friendly and suggested really yummy dishes (especially the dessert). We tried the bruschetta with raw fish and it was amazing, very light and the flavors all mixed together well. For the main course we had the short ribs and the seared catch of the day. Both were excellent! The short ribs were tender and moist and the friend bacon rice was something else! The fish was so fresh and the perfect combination with the squash puree and baby bok choy (never thought bok choy would make my tastebuds excited!) Finally for dessert, based on Doreen's recommendation, we tried the wonton apple/banana with caramel gelato and boy are we glad we got it! Overall great experience, great location (wish it was lighter so we could actually see the water and view), great service and great food!

Definitely stop in when you're in Kapaa ... Oasis bar has an awesome beach view and the bartender is super knowledgeable about their farm - table concept and great mixologist! Loved the calamari and okinawan potato chips w hollandaise ... Short ribs were yummy too! Recomm ordering the half size and share! Had a great old fashion and dirty martini here!!

I have to report this place, I'm so sorry! I wanted to go because of the great Yelp reviews... I called to make a reservation and was told it was completely full. Perhaps they could accommodate us for dinner at 5.15 in the afternoon? I was a bit shocked but agreed and turned our day around to fit their schedule. Imagine our surprise when we got seated and more than half the restaurant was empty!!! I honestly felt cheated and a bit offended by the bad marketing technique. How stupid are we supposed to be for this place? We just had to leave. Just be careful and have lower expectations. We ended up in the Bull-shed steakhouse next door for a quarter of the price and the service and food was great!

Outstanding customer service, beautiful ocean view, delicious food, fun drinks--it was a perfect meal. We were greeted so warmly and our server went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. (Thank you Benny!) We loved that they focus on locally sourced foods. The salad greens were fresh, the curry was excellent--very flavorful. The mai tai shot was delish. Dessert of the apple banana spring roll was a perfect end to our most enjoyable dinner during our time on the island. As vegetarians, we really appreciated that there was an outstanding entree (the farmers market curry).

Our buddy Ryan from Oahu recommended we eat here. It was a romantic dinner right on the beach. My steak was excellent... and huge! My girl's burger was super tasty. The mai tai was so stiff it took me a while to down it (and thats a compliment). The staff was very friendly and our server (I think his name was Tyler... the cool younger guy with a funky mustache) was superb. THANK YOU! Almost forgot.... the BANANA lumpia desert is to die for!

I had the good fortune to visit on a Weds night at about 8pm, after dark, and the families staying at the Outrigger Resort (home to Oasis) had put the kids to bed. That meant the frenzy and noise of the evening had subsided, and I was seated at an outside table with a beautiful full moon shining over the glistening ocean. There is no highway signage, but my GPS got me to the right address, and a phone call to the host station got me the rest of the way. The hospitality from the staff was outstanding. Henry was my server. He trained as a chef at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco prior to answering "the call of the surf"and moving to Hawaii twenty-some years ago. I appreciated his knowledge of all of the ingredients and how everything on the menu was prepared. Oasis is one of the few restaurants on Kaua'i whose menu is 90% island-grown produce and meat. Even the goat cheese is local. Every dish I had was outstanding. The "seared" Ono was browned on the outside edge, and moist and tender as each layer yielded to my fork. Another reviewer mentioned the Okinawan potato puree - a delicious treat that was new to me. Everything about the service was prompt and gracious. No restaurant can always hit the mark when it's full to capacity, so I don't doubt some may have experienced delays at peak times. My experience, however, was not lacking in any way. Staying at a resort like the one that houses Oasis is beyond my means, but the meal I enjoyed at Oasis was was a great value. The main dishes are available as full portion, or half-portion which Henry described as "tapas" sized. Great for light eaters, or to share. BTW, the kitchen is in a separate small building by the resort pool which you will pass on your way out. I stopped to give a good word to an appreciative chef. Go when it is not super busy and you won't be disappointed. And please say hello to Henry.

If you're in Kapaa, stop in! Especially take advantage of their happy hour. Longboard pints for $3! Cocktails were around $6. My boyfriend and I had the Okinawan chips, Short Ribs with truffle fried rice, and the burger with bacon jam. Everything was AMAZING! We wish we would've stayed at this hotel, it looked really cool. We enjoyed a Pineapple martini which had pineapple infused vodka, it tasted like candy. I ordered a spicy mango martini (not spicy at all but that's ok) it's very heavy on the Makers Mark so I hope you like your whiskey! Over all, great place.

Amazing place!! Great food and staff, definitely is a restaurant that you can't miss in Kauai. We had a pleasant dinner, the fish was fresh and the salad was great. You can enjoy a beautiful ocean view and an excellent meal.

I love the setting of this restaurant. I am usually not a big fan of Hotel restaurants, but this place is overlooking the ocean and is an open air restaurant. Don't be surprised if some swimmers from the pool saunter in in their swim suits to pick up a beer or margarita. The fish is fresh and the meet is great. As always, on Kauai prices are going to be high. It is Hawaii you know. There are other places that are cheaper, but you just can't beat the view and ambiance.

Very nice view of the ocean. Great drinks (the Mai Tai is the best I've had anywhere) and great food. Their seared ahi with Okinawan potato puree is one of the best dishes on the island. The Okinawan chips is to die for. Staff is friendly and wonderful and is knowledgable of anything on the menu. Fresh ingredients and straight from the farmers market (I've seen some of the staff during my visit to the Wednesday market in Kapaa) Would come here often.

There is nothing special about this place. The food is ok. The service is ok. The overall experience was ok. The burgers flavor was mediocre at best. The pulled pork was better than average. The drinks were more ice than anything so in the heat the got watered down quick.

Had dinner here with our 8 and 10 year old kids tonight as we are staying at the Outrigger Resort that Oasis is located in. Good meal (loved that you could get whole or half meal portions!) and had a kids menu. Most items on the menu are prepared with ingredients found on Kauai (the beef, fish, goat cheese and veggies were all local). Service was a tad slow but that was countered with the amazing outdoor atmosphere with this restaurant being on the beach and the surrounding resort grounds are beautiful

Had our first dinner here in Kauai! Everything was perfect!!! We had the Antelope to start and it was amazing, I had the market fresh curry (half order .. which was huge!), my husband had the fresh ono .. wow.. so yummy!!!! Everything was great!!!

We had an excellent experience at the Oasis. After reading many reviews we thought we'd give it a try and were not disappointed. The food was excellent along with the view and environment. My wife and I both had fish we were familiar with but never prepared as good as this. Yes it is pricey, but not more than expected. Can't say enough good things about the customer service too. The host worked hard to find us a nice table and our waiter was very attentive, friendly and helpful. Not something we'd do every night, but a great place to celebrate. We used Yelp to get a reservation. I'd recommend it.

This place is a little expensive, but the ambiance and the food was great. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I literally had the best burger in my life here, but I did! It was so good, my mouth is watering now. We also loved their Ahi tuna tar tar bruschetta. I had a Mai Tai as, well, it was ok, nothing too special.

Fantastic! Food was spot on, service incredible (ask for Lee), and the ambiance of the setting Kauai sun into the ocean was magical. NY Strip was perfectly prepared and locally sourced. Almost cliche to say but the Ahi was incredible. Sides to compliment were a highlight rather than an after thought and perfectly balanced the meal. Guaranteed a travelers culinary memory.

Knowledgable staff. All local. Hidden gem in the rough. This place should be at a 5 star resort in a hotel. Best food we have had on the island and we are staying at the St. Regis. The chef is totally underutilized for his talents! Food was great. Portions were good. Not overpriced. Win for everyone!

Just finished an above average meal. Funny that much like the ocean on which Oasis sits, it ebbs and flows. Sometimes, it's amazing and sometimes it's crap. Tonight it was quite good (except it could have been warmer). The service was prompt and courteous, the food was quite tasty and cooked as ordered. Overall, we were pleased with our meal.

Went here on the recommendation of some local guys. Waited over an hour for our food. Waiter was non-attentive, did not even return after taking our order to refill our drinks. When the food finally came, there was nothing on any of three plates that was even warm. Salad fell off of the plate as the waiter dropped it on the table, he walked away quickly least he have to do something about it. A couple with little kids at the next table was having the same experience with the long wait which was made more difficult by the kids growing restless. Be warned that they do NOT have a kitchen here, the food comes on a cart from the hotel. I told the manager it was terrible as we walked out after one taste of the cold dry fish. Left the food sitting on the table. Bad service, cold food...we walked out UGHHHH. We went to the Safeway across the street and got a sandwich because we were so hungry from the wait. Oasis on the Beach was a very big disappointment. Seemed like a nice location otherwise.

My girlfriend and I must always get the corn fritters and beet salad with li hing mui dressing. I am especially impressed with their wine by the glass program. I am a wino but usually never touch wines served by the glass at most restaurants. There are so many deals and great selections any wine geek would appreciate. Last night I had a Jorge Ordonez Old Vine Muscatel for dessert and it was awesome. The menu is derived from 85% local ingredients which far more than most of the other restaurants on the island. The GM, Collin, and staff are warm always makes us feel like VIP's. For those commenting on the prices I find them to be fair considering the quality of what you are getting as well as the locale which is unbeatable.

Drove 45 minutes from Princeville to Kapa'a to eat at Oasis for my 40th birthday. Well worth the drive. After starting off on the right foot by confirming I was over 21 prior to serving my Asahi Black ;), the restaurant proceeded to knock it out of the park on the ceviche and grass fed tenderloin. Finished it off with chocolate mousse, French pressed coffee and two complimentary ports (red and white). Service and cuisine were excellent!

We found Oasis on Yelp while on a recent vacation. We decided to try and find closer restaurants to where we were staying on the island. Based on reviews we chose Oasis and were not disappointed! First the location is great, and the overall decor, etc-this is not always matched up to the food quality. In this case it really all comes together. The fact that they source local and change up the menu from time to time is great. I travel to try new things and eat more local. We are also gluten intolerant and they were very accommodating and knowledgeable. We had the caprese salad which was served with goat cheese, beet salad, pork belly, and catch of the day. Everything was very fresh and full of flavor. Of all things the Caprese salad which is so simple, but it was so fresh and delicious! We also tried a few of the martinis which were designed by the bartender. The Thai one was my husband's favorite. We went back on Wednesday since we enjoyed it so much. They have music and a pretty good happy hour. I did notice a small difference in service and quality-not enough to change my mind-but something they may want to pay attention to if it gets busier. All in all, a great choice and did not feel like the typical tourist type restaurant. I would become a regular if I lived here!

The menu is small, appetizer sized dishes meant to be shared. Local, organic, funky cuisine. The food was fine, but it was not our style. Nice view of the water if you sit outside. Friendly staff.

not sure why this place gets such great reviews. okay, the service was good. but the prices are ridiculous. and the serving sizes are really small. we all went to mcdonalds after dinner because we spent $200 on a meal for 4 adults and we were still hungry. the view of the beach is nice i'm sure during sunset. after that its dark and you cant see anything anyways. our party of 4 was very disappointed in this place, such high prices and so disappointing. the food we did order was good, but too small of servinngs and too expensive for what you get.

Service is their strong suit. The view is their ace in the hole. A goregeous setting on the beach with subdued and very comfortable decor. A fascinating menu with locally sourced foods, all small plates style. Inventive without being weird. Loved the sweet potato chips amuse buche. My butternut squash risotto was sublime. My husband's filet was out of this world - tender, tasty and cooked to perfection. Tried an oxtail dish which had a tasty sauce but just not quite to my liking. What did the waiter do? Adjust the bill accordingly. Though he did not need to apologize, he did and his gestures were much appreciated. He was gracious and accomodating with this and my husband's food allergies. It is so wonderful to go somewhere where the staff truly wants the experience of dining to be a pleasant one. For that, we will be back, and maybe I'll try some other inventive items?

Ok folks, this is a must visit spot on the eastside. The view is amazing, right on the ocean. The food is even better. The Chef is trying to use 90% of his ingredients from Kauai and rest of Hawaii. Why does that matter? Oh my, the veggies, fruit, grass fed beef and lamb, and of course the amazing seafood available here is unlike any other. Remember folks, Hawaii is the most isolated island chain in the world and food brought in from the mainland, for the most part, is shipped by boat and can take 2 weeks from the mainland to our island. If you had the choice, where ever you lived, to eat veggies that were picked within 24-48 hours of hitting your plate or veggies picked maybe last month, what would you choose. Now, aside from the pure joy of eating locally produced and picked when ripe fruit and veggies, the Chef here is amazing. He is creative and his menu reflects the island and what it can offer. The flavors are intense, the presentation beautiful, and the service matches. Yes it is new, they have not even had a grand opening yet, but count me a big fan who can not wait to see what this guy (Zack) does as he has time to develop the menu. This is a must dine place for locals and visitors and I am very picky.
