Stopped in here on a whim, and was very pleased with the service and cocktail selection here. Had the Kahlua pork tacos, and was blown away! I am a huge fan of kahlua pork, and this was the best way i have ever eaten it. The price was very reasonable and for a chance encounter with a pub/grill, this was a real gem.

Good service. Plain food. The burgers came out cold and so did the fries. The buns used are from Costco. The lettuce is too. But the ketchup is stock tomato paste jammed into a Heinz bottle. Food needs to be cooked at the same time too. Soda isn't carbonated... Probably because it's been refilled improperly. Took 30 minutes .. :( Take your money somewhere else and save yourself from the extra calories!

for the service and the bar: 4 stars. the waitress was attentive even though the place got packed (come before 7:30 on a Sunday night) and she was the only server on the floor. four big tvs to watch if you're into that. for the food: 3 stars we ordered the beer battered fish tacos and the fish and chips. the batter was crispy but thick and the fish was an ok portion. I asked for the fries to be extra crispy and it was. the slaw wasn't bad...I liked the flavor and chunkiness. the star of the meal was the chile lime aioli (5 stars for this)...we ordered extra for the fries.

Yelp you suck. Just got a review about my restaurant with 2 stars, pictures of food that we don't serve, products that we don't use and drinks we don't serve. I'm no longer a fan of yelp !!!

9th Island has my vote for best sports bar in Kauai! We stopped here after arriving in Kauai on our way to Princeville. It's a small place but they had enough TV's to show all of the college football games on that day. The service was top notch and really drove my five star rating. The bar seemed to be a local hangout with a lot of regulars, which is a good sign. The food was excellent and arrived quickly and they had an excellent beer selection. What else do you want in a sports bar?

We had a great breakfast with beverages while watching the Husky game. Yes, they do get the Pac 12 network, and knew what we were talking about when we called to ask. Our server, Cassie, took good care of everyone and made it look fairly easy. Some servers have half the tables but make it look twice as hard as she did. The breakfast sandwich and omelette we had were tasty and well priced. I appreciated the cleanliness of the ladies room. We will be back!

This was a nice surprise, indeed. We figured a sports bar with lots of big screen tvs and burgers would be kind of touristy. Apparently, if they think you're a local, you get great service! We saw reviews that mentioned waitress, Shannon. That's who we got and she was awesome. She made suggestions and helped us with our order. We had: Grilled Mahi Mahi sandwich, which was freaking delicious. The flavor, texture, temperature--everything was perfect. BBQ Bacon Burger, also fabulous. So big, we had to take half of it home. Came with fries, too. Not the biggest selection of brews, considering it's a sports bar, but we prefer the hard ciders anyway. Will definitely go back next time I'm in Kapaa!

Everything on Kauai seems to close down by 8 or 9 PM. So we stumbled upon this place because we needed dinner, and were told that they opened "late" (10 PM). Plus it happened to be located relatively close to our hotel. It's in a strip mall. Very casual place. Nothing fancy at all. You walk in, seat yourself and hope that the waitress notices you. The menu: chicken wings, burgers, sandwiches, salads, some entrees. Our waitress was friendly, our beers were cold, and our order of crinkle cut fries was hot and crispy. Husband got their "famous" chicken fried steak (came with a few dingy pieces of broccoli and mashed potatoes)....this was ok. My Cobb salad was really good (except they forgot the avocado). The DICED CHICKEN PIECES were so incredibly tasty, as was the wasabi-ranch dressing that I chose. Oh, and there was arugula in the salad mix (thumbs up). Overall, a good find for a quick meal or a cold beer in Kapa'a.
(4)Alane F.
Although I am not a big football fan, my husband wanted to watch the 49er game at a sports bar. I gave in thinking we would have to eat typical bar food. That was not the case here. The shrimp & avocado salad was absolutely awesome and hubby had an amazing burger cooked perfectly. This will be a return trip next time in Kauai.

We have been back three times during our vacation. Food is amazing. Staff and owner are very nice and accommodating to guests. Great sports bar as well.
(5)Matt P.
Great food! I had the Butterfinger burger, along with the nachos. It was interesting to note that the nachos were baked, which gave the cheese a very interesting flavor that is normally not found in nachos. However, our order took an extremely long time to come out, even though we went on a Thursday evening.

We were here three times during our vacation on Kauai. Since we were at the condo across the street this place was conveniently located. Each time we were here we found the service to be on the slow side. The servers were not inattentive, they just seemed to be overwhelmed by the number of tables they needed to take care of. I had the pastrami and swiss on rye on two visits - the first time it was outstanding but the second time the meat was dry and chewy. The onion rings were very good every visit here. However, the chicken wings are another story. For me there is only one thing worse than soggy chicken wings - breaded soggy chicken wings. Also, on one visit the medium-well burger came out with a pink center and dripping blood. They fixed the order and the replacement was cooked as ordered and was pretty tasty. They have several large screen TV's to catch a game. They always had music playing instead of the sound from one of the games. Overall the place is OK. Yelp sent us on a 20 minute wild goose chase on a remote road to a private posted property when we followed their directions. Turns out the were right across the street from the condo. So, it you want go here they are located in the Safeway plaza right across the street from the Waipouli Beach Resort.

3 1/2 stars. But not enough for me to bump to a 4. We came here for a super early dinner so it wasn't very packed. However, definitely take advantage of happy hour for discounted drinks and food. Chicken nachos - good serving of nachos with cheese, jalapeños, and tender chicken. Only thing is that the nachos themselves seemed a bit stale. Onion rings - delicious, perfectly fried onion rings. Fish and chips with side of fries and coleslaw - had this with the Ono. It was a bit dry but very hearty pieces of fish with just the right coat of batter. Tarter sauce was generic. Fries were a bit too salty but very well cooked. They have a small selection of beers on tap. I opted for a blue moon since I'm not a fan of pale ales, but really great deal during happy hour. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, I'd definitely come back to try other menu items.
(3)Alina K.
We went there for dinner and had both a burger. The burgers were the worst: They were dripping with grease. It was disgusting. It's been a longtime since we haven't finish a burger but these we just couldn't eat up. In the end our plates had their own little lake of fat... The service was totally fine but the food not.
(2)Volochai V.
Fish and Chips are simply great. Liked the bar a lot! Huge variety of burgers is also pretty cool. Tried BBQ one - 5/5!
(5)Ross Z.
Best tuna melt ever! My favorite ever! The staff is awesome and we caught it at the right time as it was BYOB which made the dinner for 4 even better. We ate there twice just for the tuna melt!

My boyfriend and I quite enjoyed this super-casual (I want to call it a dive bar, but in a very good way), located in a strip mall in Kapa'a. It's a bit hard to find between the Safeway and the ABC Stores. Tip: Google maps is wrong as to its exact location. The SERVICE here was the hands-down winner. Our waitress Jenny or Jennifer, who is also the bartender, was absolutely excellent. I saw some reviews that they weren't nice to non-locals, well, she treated us like gold. Prompt, attentive, and super-friendly service. She even remembered us on our return and commiserated with me on my centipede bite. The DRINKS are pretty good...they've got you covered with just a few taps, but both some good local craft beer (like Kona) to Coors Light are available. When we got there, there was a $2 pint happy hour special on Coors Light. Looks like a decent full bar too, but we stuck to beer. The FOOD is fairly good. My boyfriend loved the rack of ribs. I was a bit nervous ordering something so easy to screw up in what looked primarily like a watering hole, but it was indeed quite good. In fact, it was much better than my "safe" choice of one of the burgers. My medium-rare burger was cooked to well-done, but no worse than what most places do when they don't ask. OVERALL, this was a pleasant and affordable place to get a bite and a beer in Kapa'a. It's a nice setting with way more locals than tourists and absolutely excellent service on our two visits.

On holiday in Hawaii. Decided to stop here for lunch from the airport on our way to the north shore (6Aug 2015). We walked in here with no expectations and had not read any reviews before going in. We decided to stop here because the kids weren't happy to be in the car. Service was very good and the food was good. We ordered a hamburger (medium rare; not often you get asked how you want your burger cooked), fish and chips (for 4 year old) and steak salad (medium). All was good. To contrast this review, see also review on Westin beach bar in Waikiki on Oahu (1 star). Summary: I'd come here again.
(4)Eric K.
Most importantly, they get blacked out west coast sporting events. Food was solid. Ordered my burger medium and got it well but it was still tasty. However they didn't have a liquor license so......
(3)Wendy C.
We went to 9th Island for breakfast on Sunday and it was so YUMMY! I had the French toast and a side of potatoes, when I first seen the French toast I thought " that is not gonna fill me up" but I left with 2 pieces not even touched since I was so full. Our waitress was so sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. I told my boyfriend that's the only place we need to ever go for breakfast:) Wendy

This place isn't a 3 star Michelin joint, and it's not trying to be. At first glance this looks like any other plain Jane bar in a strip mall. You usually walk into a place like this and expect the food to be crap. Man, was I wrong. The Philly sliders had a fresh bun and my goodness the meat/cheese/onion/pepper was fantastic. We also had the bbq pork sliders, which again completely blew away our expectations. Chicken wings: this is what I expect to get at a wing joint. Crispy, tasty without that nasty frozen nastiness that is often with a chicken wing. Onto the service. There was one lady tending bar, waiting tables, & bussing tables all by herself. There were about 25 people in the place at the time and the service was great. I was in awe at how efficient this lady was. She didn't appear rushed; she just got the job done with a smile. I told my wife that the waitress needed to be cloned so she can replace some of the other waiters / waitresses we've encountered lately.
(5)Sara T.
At first glance, this place doesn't seem like it would have great food. It's a bar in a strip mall. The store front doesn't catch your eye, but man...this place had the best fish tacos I've ever had in my life. You get three huge tacos, good amount of fish, tons of flavor and a side of coleslaw (super fresh, crisp and homemade). Service was great, and the waiters were tentative to us even though we weren't seated at the bar. When I think of fish tacos from now one, this place will be the first to pop in my head.
(4)Shawna M.
Still love the onion rings! My favorite place to watch the football and basketball games. Its kinda small, but its better than a huge noisy sports bar. If you do plan on watching games, make sure to get there early. Like while another game is playing. You'll be left to stand if you don't. Most people will clear after their game is done which is good to snag a table. Multiple tv's so there are always multiple games on.
(5)Joyce M.
One of kauai's hidden gems. A great place to eat. Best food on the island, and we have eaten at most all of them. Have never had a bad meal there. Prices are decent, and the staff is EXCELLENT Tho it may get busy at times ,the wait staff does a terrific job of taking care of everyone. If you want to have a cold one and watch a game, there are plenty of TV's. Its also right next to starbucks, and an ABC store, so your wife can shop and you can watch the game. Would recomend this place to anyone.
(5)Kristin B.
This place is across the street from where we are staying for a week and we've been here twice already! Kalua pork tacos are so good! Definitely a place we'd recommend and will visit again I'm sure!
(5)Kitt H.
Super-convenient sports bar, my wife and I came here to watch a college basketball game. The bartender was very nice and the food was good. I had a pastrami on rye and my wife had a kalua pork sandwich (which was enormous). I also had a Wailua Wheat beer and a shot of Fernet-Branca, which I didn't expect to find here! My wife had pineapple juice + rum. The food and drink are not particularly cheap, our check was about $60. But we had a great seat at the bar, the bartender happily switched the sound system to the game, and our team won! Definitely a good place to come to watch a game.
(4)Will A.
Ok food....tweaker waitress...horrible service.....obviously has never been a server before ....and shouldnt be....typical owner thinks he a "bigshot" dive bar place
(2)marc o.
Not bad.. Was not expecting much, but they delivered solid "bar food", cold beer, decent service..will definitely come back over next few weeks if craving bar food
(4)Jeff M.
Tried to walk in. People working would not acknowledge us. They don't care about you. Stay away and go somewhere else. Can I do less than 1 star.
(1)Megan T.
Terrible place! The waitress was very rude and clearly hates her job. The food wasn't even that great. I do not recommend this restaurant at all.
(1)Shannon S.
My wife and I stopped in on a Sunday night. We were looking to have a couple of beers and dinner. Our expectations are never high with the food selections at sports bar. We were pleasantly surprised with the food menu. I had the grilled mahi mahi with rice and my wife had the pork nachos. Both dishes were really good! The bar had quite a bit of locals, which I always like to see. The service was awesome! When my drink was halfway finished they came by asking if I'd like another. That was refreshing versus the glass is empty and you are waiting for service. I'd definitely come back to this place again.

I wasn't going to post a review here but after some of the actions of the Owner/GM of this restaurant on Facebook, I want to make sure that everyone is able to make an informed decision about not just their food but more importantly their customer service skills. About 2 weeks ago my family went in to place a takeout order that included two teri burgers w/o onions. We stupidly didn't check the order before leaving because our waitress promised that she had checked with the cook twice to make sure it was right. When we got home, we saw that the burgers were covered in onions. Rather than going back, we just took them off and tried to make do. Unfortunately, the onions apparently contained all of the flavor as well because the burgers were dry & tasteless without them. My husband called them to let them know and they were nice enough to offer to put our names on the register for two free teri burgers at a later date to make up for the mistake. Well on Monday (4/20), we decided to take them up on the offer & give them another chance. My husband went in & placed another takeout order, again asking that they be without onions. Before leaving, my husband checked the burgers and did not see the onions so we thought it was all good & went on our way. When we got home & opened them up to start eating, the huge slab of onions were hiding under the lettuce. Again, we took them off & was planning on eating the burger anyway and just never going back. That was until I cut my burger in half and saw that it was completely raw in the middle, they were ordered medium-well. My husband took the burgers back & was given his money back, end of story right? Not so much. I decided to go on Facebook & post a review and they didn't like that. Rather than acting like adults & dealing with me directly, they commented on my review by saying that people make mistakes & I should have just taken the onions off & gone on with my life (completely ignoring the RAW MEAT part of my comment, by the way) & then they also commented with "GBTTFM" which means "Go Back To The F'n Mainland". The funniest part about that is that I am a Native Hawaiian who was born & raised on the island of Kauai. And they didn't stop with that, they then posted a status to their page about the incident with my husband & I that was a complete lie to get sympathy for their restaurant & make me look bad for giving them a not so nice review. That post has since been deleted which is what motivated me to post here. I understand that people make mistakes & that not everyone is perfect. I didn't expect perfection. What I expected was for my order to be correct and for professionalism when it was brought to their attention that it wasn't. I got far from that. I also expected an apology at some point, but that has never happened either. They would like to just pretend that the whole thing never happened. And that is why I chose to tell my story here so that everyone would read this & understand that if you decide to eat here, make sure that you don't ever complain about anything because you will not get professionalism & no matter where you are from, you might get told to GBTTFM.

Came here with my aunt for dinner. We started with hot chicken wings. They were delish. She had the Rueben sandwich and it came with fries. I had the Ice Pik burger. Comes with 3 types of cheese (cheddar, provolone and Swiss). Also came with fries. My aunt's sandwich was excellent. My burger was delicious. Well cooked and seasoned. Will be coming back again ;)
(5)Luke E.
IPA, OSU Buckeyes, baby back ribs that literally fell off the bone. Stay away from the tourist traps and get your ass here and get a burger, ribs and a brew! NOW! The server had the entire doing room and part of the bar and KICKED ASS! I offered her a job on the mainland but kauai was a little nicer weather than my poor state of OHIO. Job well done!
(5)Kristina V.
I am extremely disappointed in the service we received one Saturday afternoon. My grandma, Boyfriend, and I stopped I'm for a quick take out, after reading the reviews I figured, what the heck? We read the menu, that's posted on the door, and they strictly serve bar food, which is my favorite. We walked in, looked around and realize, there was a lot of local guys huddled around the TV having brews, we managed to catch a server. We immediately ordered since we knew what we wanted. We took a seat to wait for our food and watched some TV. As we waited, I could not help, but notice how unprofessional the wait staff was. There were two servers, one looked like she just rolled out of bed and the other server (who took our order didn't even give two sh*ts to check in on us). I understand the whole laid back -life style as I am from the Westside of Kaua'i, I know what it means to cruise, but I feel your servers are the face of your restaurant and if you're looking sloppy or not even checking in on your waiting customers, really turns me off as a customer. As time ticked, I looked down at my watch, nearly 30 minutes has passed and our food is not out yet, keep in mind we ordered a cheese burger, a fish sandwich, and nachos. I think the server seen the look on my face when she finally came by, she proceeded to tell us there was an order of 50-something plate lunches. I was pretty upset because our server did not tell us this prior to taking our order, if we knew this we would've skipped on eating here and gone somewhere else. She then told us it would take an additional 15 minutes, for our cheese burger, fish sandwich, and Nachos!!! mortified, we asked for our money back and decided to eat at Subway next door. I am SO disappointed in the service we received and I could not believe the lack of professionalism of the wait staff I will probably never stop by again, there are much better eateries in Kapaa so I know I won't be missing out.
(1)Richy D.
I love this bar! The burgers Are to die for. I love the butter finger it's my fav. The baby back ribs are so awesome. They fall of the bone..... You have to eat here. The service for the most part is pretty good. Kid friendly. Always a ton of food! Oh and the fries are awesome to! So long it's not the shoe string ones.
(5)Martha H.
Went for happy hour which is from 4-6 most nights. $1 off drinks. Every person in the place was a local which was great to get away from the tourist places. They have special happy hour menu for $9.99 and we ordered the chicken nachos. They were great and very filling for us two big eaters. Had to cancel our dinner plans at another location as no need for dinner after these nachos. Would recommend if you want a reasonably priced no nonsense place with good food.

3 cheers, no 6 cheers, for Shannon and the 9th Island. Good food. Good beer. Let me watch hockey. Thank you. Thank you!
(5)Michele C.
While I did not fly to Kauai from LA to sit in a Las Vegas themed sports bar, but sometimes you just want some good beer, good food, and good sports bar ambience. Tha prices are not cheap buts that's because the portions are large so best if you share. My husband and I shared the pulled pork sandwich, small side salad and onion rings. All delicious. Nice service and good bottle selection with standards on tap. Great place to get good pub food and drinks.
(5)Lisa M.
Fun place, kinda Cheers vibe, locals and visitors. Had lunch and watched NHL playoffs two days in a row after stopping there our first night in Kapaa. Shannon is awesome bartender and waitress. Salad with shrimp and avocado was the bomb! Fresh fish tacos were excellent. Plenty of TVs for the sports fan.
(5)Anine C.
Great service, cold drinks, great atmosphere that is simple, but welcoming. Nothing fancy here- just a nice place focused on treating customers right. Bonus is the food is outstanding. We came in just for a drink after some shopping and ended up staying all night. Blew off our fancy dinner reservation for Valentine's Day dinner and ate here instead after seeing what the others were being served. We were not disappointed. Excellent Mahi, perfectly cooked steak, fresh asparagus cooked just right. Also, best sliders on the planet. We will be back.
(5)Mandi P.
Bruschetta was amazing! Service was good along with the philly sliders. Very impressed for a sports bar.
(5)Katie S.
Great sports bar! We were staying at Pono Kai just down the street and needed a place to watch the USC football game. The service was fast and friendly. We sat at the bar and Eric the bartender took care of us all night. We enjoyed yummy draft beer and football. The food was great too. We had the calamari and two different types of burgers. We ended up taking half of our burgers home because the we stuffed ourselves silly with the calamari. We're here for six more days and my husband already wants to go back!
(4)Beverly H.
We stopped in for dinner and we're happily surprised. The drinks were excellent they had crown Apple that my husband likes. The food was great. The owner came out and even visited with us to find out he is from Minnesota also. Definitely recommend this place
(5)Sara O.
On vacation you should mostly be out hiking or on the beach. But if you need a break from that and want to catch up with your favorite sports team head to 9th Island. We stopped here once for dinner and once for breakfast in a three day span. Both were great but the breakfast was amazing. Huge portions, great bloody mary, and plenty of TV to catch all the NFL games. Bar was dominated by NFC North teams that day but probably because the Seahawks had a bye. Tap selection pretty good as well. Prices were reasonable and service was great. Highly recommend a stop here!
(5)Cameron M.
Came in, noticed a few tables were not wiped off as i seated myself. Only one waitress working (as it was about 2pm), but wanted those tables by us to be bussed. Never got bussed the whole time i was there, and the worst thing was, THERE WAS NO BEER ON TAP!? Literally BYOB... Waitress told my brother and i that the IRS took their alcohol license away, why the would the IRS have anything to do with that? I think they jus gave out too many drinks to the locals/friends, and at the end of the month the numbers just didnt add up for the kegs taxing. Although that wasnt such a bust, (As hawaii has crappy brewerys anyways, never had a decent IPA as we were in Oahu and Kauai for a couple weeks), because they absolutely changed my mind about the place when i tasted that California Club sandwich!! Outstanding food, very delicious. Took more than expected for our food to come out though, as the bar was basically empty, took about 35 mins for a couple of sandwiches to arrive. When i was done munching on some of the most mouthwatering and addicting fries ive ever had, nature called!! Mens restroom had no soap, or paper towels, BUT had a few posters of some very nice booties on the walls lol. Very delectable food, although nothing on the menu was under $12. (Again, as expected in hawaii!) overall, crappy service, nice TVs, and some amazing grub! I would definantly come back for the food... Lets just hope the 'IRS' doesnt take away their chicken next...
(3)Leah F.
Food was alright. Nothing spectacular. Asked for a mojito.. didn't have. Our waitress told us about happy hour and then came back after 5pm and said that its full charge now. One of our party demanded the half off which she reluctantly gave. Good spot for watching games, tons of TVs.
(2)Dara A.
Here on a short vacay with the husband from O'ahu & there are few watering holes not overcrowded with tourists. Perfect local atmosphere, clean, amazing service by bartender Eric, & great food. Best place for sports watching, especially if you're a UNLV fan. We've come here twice in 2 days - not normal for a couple who likes to explore, so that only means this is the spot!!
(5)Karen E.
Enjoy their burgers immensely..especially the bleu cheese burger with lettuce tomato on a ciabatta bun and fries...and their drinks are great..Love their maitai
(4)Pinnace Z.
This sports bar caters to locals, tourist should avoid... Visiting from out of town I was quietly watching a Bengal game. The game was over half over, when a regular came in and asked to have the channel changed. The wish was immediately acceded and I was left high and dry. No other options in the area, that was that. ------- Update: after the channel was changed, I couldn't just leave as my son's game was still on. I was quietly waiting. For the record, I had one Bloody Mary and a beer with my food. The food was good, the drinks adequate. I tipped 25%. While I was waiting I but did mention to my waitress, I had written an unfavorable review... Bad idea... A lady came out from the back and told me I was "86ed". I had no idea what that meant so she repeated it louder several times ... I got the hint , I was not welcome. I left. I got in my car and we drove back to the hotel With so many choices on the island, leave this one to the locals.
(1)Aaron C.
Best burgers on island. Almost too big for one person. The menu is Vegas themed and the portions are similar to what you would get in LV. It's a small dive sports bar so don't expect too much but the friendly staff makes up for it. The food can be slow to come out at times but it always arrives hot and fresh. When you order a $13 burger that's exactly what you get. I hear people rave over the coconut shrimp, portobello sandwich and salads but I can't stop ordering the burgers. They have happy hour, lunch and dinner special. Stop by and try something new. Look for it next to Safeway.
(5)Jared R.
I've been on island for a little while now and it's hard to find a good, thick, juicy burger. But 9th island nails it. In my opinion, 9th Island has successfully brought a simple Las Vegas atmosphere and traditional bar food to the island. No short cuts here. Fat, juicy, local beef seasoned right with fresh ingredients for a decent price. It hit the spot for me, I hope it does for you. But before you order, My gf had the 3 cheese burger and she claims she didn't like it. I remember seeing it after about ten minutes of being on her plate and there wasn't anything else on it but cheese and it looked like a dried up British crumpet. She may not have enjoyed her first time there but I personally think it was a few different determining factors that led her hopes to be squandered. All in all, if your visiting the island, it'll bring a piece of the mainland back in your day. Hope you enjoy!

A very nice addition to the Kauai food scene with good food, cold drinks and a surprising number of flat screens for a place of it's size. The Oldest and I stopped by to watch the Oregon v. U of W game and get a bite to eat. Now, I'm a French Dip fan and most places offer pale versions of the classic dish. I'm happy to say that 9th Island does not! Their dip has a good amount of very well seasoned beef on an interesting bun instead of the traditional hogie roll. It was the best dip I've had in over 10 years! We also sampled the BLT which wasn't as successful due to it's still soft toasted bread. The French Fries are OK but the Onion Rings are more successful if not maybe a bit too browned in the fryer. The service was friendly and efficient despite the crowd. The only thing I had to really complain about were the overwhelming number of Duck fans in the place. Go Dawgs!
(4)Shadow L.
Lots of big TVs, good food. Good atmosphere. Reasonable price. Great place to catch the game.
(5)Braxten T.
Not gonna lie, definitely met the requirements for a sports bar! Big food portions and had the major games on at all times. Couldn't ask for a better place to watch the games.
(4)Alison M.
I had high hopes for this place while staying close by for 9 days during football season. It was just ok. I think the ac was broken, it was sticky in there. Sure the beer was cold but as a sports bar junkie, I was just not that excited about the place. I went once had a couple beers, watched a couple quarters of FB, passed on the food, and did not return.

Very good food and service was decent. We visited three times during our twelve day stay and found everything to be mostly just fine...NOW, understand that, even though this place is located a bit on the tourist strip, it IS an after work watering hole for the locals as well. Thats actually a good sign sort of. It gets real busy after 6pm and to top it off very loud. Especially if its Friday night and some high profile game is on TV. Back to the food. Very good Philly. Try it. Burgers are damn fine. Wifey worked through a couple of the salad entrees and commented that they were fresh and chilled, not served at room temp. No bar food type cooking and presentation. A good menu where you have choices and not everything goes in the deep fryer. My son, always the top shelf diner when the meal ticket is on someone else (me) ordered the local seafood and raved each time. Clean plate club award for him. Service was good for the sometimes overwhelmed waitresses. They were workin' it. Now, one bit of negative: I dont know what the local laws are in Hawaii about over-serving but on a few occasions we watched the wait staff pouring liquor down people one after another at a steady pace.. The glasses were being kept full and I'm not talking about with light Beer either. People were getting flat out hammered and then heading for the parking lot. It wasnt the whole place, just what looked to be mostly some regulars who came in from work. A few times it made the dining part of the visit a bit much to handle. F' bombs and eehaaa's now and then. You found yourself hurrying up your meal so you could escape back to less chaos somewhere else..

This place is great! Located in a strip mall, ABC store and a Starbutts a couple stores down. Went looking for a place that was showing the Dodger game and this place was! Friendly staff, great fish tacos, and ice cold beer. No complaints here. Go Dodgers!

Salads are awesome. Also had their pulled pork and french dip sandwiches. Easy stop on the way to the airport, too, if you want to take something on the plane home.

My boyfriend and I visited Kauai on 2/19-2/24. He knew the owners Jeff and Tina back when they lived in Vegas. What a top-notch bar! Exactly what the island needed -- a great sports bar with amazing food and friendly people. I ordered the fish tacos. Boyfriend ordered the BBQ burger. SO DELICIOUS! The owners told us that other restaurants are taking notice of their food, which is a big compliment of their menu since the other local bars have been in business for over 30 years. During the entire trip, every local I ran into had great things to say about the Ninth Island bar and suggested a favorite dish. Congrats to Jeff and Tina on your successful bar! Expect me to be back soon!

It's just ok... I've eaten here about three times and never was it memorable. Had a burger recently that I felt was very plain, as in they needed to season the meat better. The food is decent but not great. I would choose the Pau Hana Grill across the parking lot instead next time.

Need a place to watch World Cup while in Kauai? This is it. Owner was kind to open early for us (Doesn't open at 9 during the week)to let us watch World Cup. Low key and accommodating. Good food and drinks at reasonable prices!

I only gave 1 star because I had to. Worst service ever. I was here for the playoff games and they were full. Two people let us sit with them which was awesome. After the game began, the owner came up to our table and told the people that we were with if they didn't order anything he would ask them to leave. He said, I'm trying to make money here." They didn't even have the check yet, had just finished breakfast and we hadn't seen our server in about 15min. Maybe if they had more than 1 server on people would order more. Not to mention our food was very disappointing and we sat with empty glasses several times. If this owner had thought ahead, staffed appropriately and had any business sense, maybe he wouldn't be so concerned about the $5 beer they may order.

Would give them a five if service was quicker but it took way too long to order not to mention receive the food. We walked in by accident thinking we would be eating at the other place across from this one. However, for bar food, they earn a 5 despite high prices for the area.

Awesome food nice cute bartenders I like chick bartenders good breakfast but open to late for me most of the time .steak seafood great local greens and fish . Bar is to small when busy overall food great, location sucks but what can you do in Hawaii no bars on the ocean why? None that I know of with a great view of the water on the water where the beach is part of the bar.

Hidden gem for all those staying on the east shore! Best California Chicken sandwich I've had in a LONG TIME, two chicken breasts covered in provolone with fresh avocado on a fantastic bun. Fries were decent, nice crisp, but then I prefer steak fries over the run of the mill so take that with a grain of salt. The atmosphere was fun with big screen tvs everywhere and the service was great. Very hard to find anything open on the island after 9 let alone a place as great as this! Good solid food.

Ah-mazing ribs! Meat falls off the bone. Great service. Cold beers. Phenomenal ribs and burgers. What more do you need?
(5)Nancy R.
This place was recommended when we arrived on island. A must go to place when you come to Kauai. They have a little but of everything!!

My brother-in-law and sister visiting from the mainland absolutely loved this place: best calamari ever! Happy Hour starts at 3, perfect time for mainland-timezone for sports! Go Miami Heat!!! Best prices on drinks and food - and excellent coffee wow! Just as good as the Starbucks next door. Brittney, our server was so great I had to mention her name to give her kudos! I'm sure my brother-in-law misses the place.

We are from San Diego so we went here to watch the UNLV/SDSU game. The food was excellent-the bartender was great. Our waitress was one of the worst we have ever had! She was surly and unfriendly. Every question we asked seemed to annoy her. As I mentioned, the food was excellent, but she brought our entries out two at a time with a five minute break between each delivery(there were 6 of us). We would definately return because of the food and the bartender-but they need a new waitress!

the girls always take care of us and now it seems the food is tastier keep up the good work, mahalo

At first impression, I didn't think much of this place. The decor was pretty simple being that it was your basic sports bar: A solo worker double dutying as bartender and server, 3 flat screen televisions mounted to the walls, about 3-4 bar tables, and 2-3 regular height tables. Super casual. Super mellow. Draft beers, some wines, and a selection of sandwiches, greasy pupus, and burgers. Slow service, but I couldn't complain considering that there was only ONE worker. She was doing the best that she could, and managed to check up on us 3-4 times. I chose the BUTTERFINGER BURGER, which came with a choice of fries, side salad, or (i think) coleslaw. For something like $14, I got a HUGEEEE Teriyaki burger that came with swiss cheese, carmalized onions, fresh lettuce, and tomato. I was super surprised at how FRESH the produce was, including my sidesalad that came with carrots, croutons, and other fixings. Now, I'm not a huge fan of beef or burgers but the beef was phenomenal. I was expecting something similar to the "Mays" patty burger quality, but the quality of the beef tasted fresh, lean, and CLEAN. I almost felt like I was eating grass-fed beef. Next time i'm going to ask where they get their beef from because I'm sure as hell that their beef came from the back kitchen freshly butchered from some organic farm in their backyard. (just kidding, sorta). If you're ever on Kaua'i and craving a beer and good ol' american food, I highly reccommend this place! Even more convenient because It is located in the same shopping area as the Kapa'a Safeway. High accessibly and friendly to tourists and locals alike. Yum Yum MOOOOOOOOO.

My hubby and I came here after a day of hiking and beach bummin and loved it! Wings, burgers, mojitos, and the staff here are AMAZING!!!!! Especially, Vilma:) You will not be disappointed. We will totally be back! Awesome place:)

My hubby and friend liked this bar for the food and atmosphere. We went here for lunch since it was directly across from our hotel. The parking is tight and it can get crowded. They had the wings and burger. I had the calamari. It was the regular ring calamari. The guys liked that it was good bar food and they could watch the college football game as they ate. If you are looking for a laidback place with good standard bar food, this place fits the bill.

This eatery is located within a shopping center with plenty of parking which includes Starbucks Coffee, Subway and a Longs Drugs stores. This eatery upon entering was welcoming. The host greeted us and welcomed us to our seats. Upon looking around, I noticed they had four high definition televisions. They all had baseball games on and were showing the San Diego Padres on one of them! Way to go! Upon receiving a menu, the options were an average set of choices. Sandwiches, burgers, wings, salads, coffee, beer and domestic beer. I don't drink beer. I ordered a French dip sandwich that was filling. Happy hour was occurring at the time of our arrival so we ordered buffalo wings-mild for $2.00 off regular price. After receiving the food, took a bite and over time food was average. The wings on the other hand were tasteful and strong in spice. I could smell the "mild" spice right before I would bite each wing. Overall, the place was not crowded, clean and the prices were overpriced from $11-14.00 each item, but still a good place to relax and tune into some sports.

Amazing Place!! Great Food Choices(love the menu names) Had Chicken Rio & Fish Tacos!! Would highly recommend. Flat Screen TV's. All sport games. Cold Beer. What else can you ask for! Very friendly staff. Owners Jeff & Tina are fantastic people. Scotty & Carrie Vegas

*** 4 1/2 stars *** Walking around the ABC store sure can work up an appetite, so we were lucky to run into a guy who said we should try the sports bar just a few doors down. He said it had just opened, but he'd already been there 30 times. If that's not a ringing endorsement, I don't know what is. Mom and I shared a DELICIOUS turkey burger. It wasn't really one that was on the menu - my mom just told the waitress what she wanted, and she made it happen. It took quite a while after ordering to get our food, but it was worth the wait. The place itself was clean, nicely decorated, and felt like an upscale sports bar. Nice addition to the little strip mall there.

While I understand that the place is brand new, I'm disappointed that the interior is so far from "sports bar" that I thought I was sitting down in a remodeling project. I also understand that it may be hard to train wait staff at a new place, but that's no excuse for our waitress, who was rude and dumb as a brick. (Not to mention that we had to take our payment to a bartender because our waitress had stepped out to smoke ten feet from us, when we were her only table to take care of.) That said, the food was great for a sports bar. The buns on the burgers were probably the best I've ever had. If I could make a suggestion for a better dining experience, I'd say order food at the bar and get drunk reaaally fast.

We stopped by here to watch our Oregon Ducks play in the Fiesta Bowl. Chicken Wings were excellent as was everything else we ordered. Service was attentive and friendly. Good atmosphere. I appreciated the free drink from one of the owners when my Mojito wasn't able to be made correctly the first time.

My new favorite place for football, breakfast, lunch! 5 tvs, great location. The chicken fried steak was amazing! Great service and the bloodys were delicious! Finally Kauai has a great sports bar!
(5)Grace B.
The Kawaiian Iced tea is strong! Wouldn't recommend this if you have to work the next day...The butterfinger burger and fries were really good. Had the calamari but can't beat Kauai Pasta Kapaa.

Okay so we wanted to shower after the beach and then get dinner, oops, now it's after nine and almost everything is closed. This was the third place we tried, and that's not counting all the places we drove past that were obviously closed, and it was Saturday night! First things first, this place was open, thank goodness, and I could bring my kid in, hallelujah. I would not say bring your kids here, however, in a pinch like we were, this place was very comfortable for my eleven year old. The patrons were not over intoxicated and our waitress was great. the food was good, we starred with bruschetta and then had burgers. The bruschetta was real good. The burgers were excellent, very big, and good patties. They didn't taste cheap or frozen. The beer selection was decent enough, I would definitely come here for a big game. All in all, we were stoked to find this place given our circumstance and their late menu was better than we could've hoped for.

I really enjoyed my first meal here and can't wait to try my 2nd. Last time I ordered their French dip and it was awesome! It came with either Mac salad, French fries, or toss salad. I chose the toss salad and it was a good portion! The French dip was very flavorful and the a jus sauce was yummy!!!!

Came in for a quick bite. Service was good, as well as the food.

Mother's Day, a lil past noon. Most major eateries will be busy. Where to go? Road trip. 20 minutes and we're in Kapa'a from the town of Kilaue'a. Food trucks closed, kind'a want a beer as well. Seem's to narrow the choices down. Wife mentions a place she heard was good. We head in the direction, kind of hidden, construction in the area. Park, *Bucks, and ABC store, find the place & push through the door. COOL!! Bitchen Lil pub type bar, tables, chairs, stools & tables & we head for the bar.Bartendress is cool, polite, suggests some beers. We both go for what's on drift. MENU: Comfy selections, different spin.Hungry! French Dip w/ fries. Pastrami / swiss for the wife. "Couple-a more cold beers, please". Done deal. Nice service. Folks walking in. Tables busy. Waitress & bartendress only. Smooth flow.Food arrives. Looks good! Au jus (the dip) is good, basic, but what I really Really liked, was that my sandwich just didn't implode/explode on me and turn to mush. The beef was stacked between two pieces of cibata bread (sp) that never got too soaked and mushy. Filling, for sure & with the fries, I asked for a hammock & pillow when I was done. My Honey said there was so much pastrami in her sandwich. Ha! I ate the last of her sandwich. Pretty dam good! Bar service was fun, informative on menu, comfy surroundings, & our sandwiches, really good. Having a nice cold beer in a cold glass, was a nice bonus. ( just a couple of locals looking for a good sandwich & beers)

Amazing little bar and grill! They were able to cater to my dietary needs and did it with style. The food was awesome and priced well. The wait staff was excellent and very personable. We plan on visiting a couple of more times on our Kauai vacation!
(5)Petrea H.
GREAT burger and black and blue salad on Superbowl Sunday. We definitely will come back just to eat whenever we are in Kauai. The best food on the island, and we hit The Beach House and Merriman's, too.
(5)Blake H.
Went here for breakfast several times, good food, love the green onions they put on the eggs.
(4)Lee F.
Great place for good food. The prices are a bit high (especially a non-happy hour glass of draft beer). But overall a good choice.
(4)Kevin C.
I love the hot wings here!!! The service is attentive, great new place.
(5)Matt M.
Cheap beer (domestic), new HDTV's, and outstanding fish tacos - Overall I was impressed for this strip mall type pub. All the decor is new, and relatively cheap, but the prices are reasonable, and I cannot say enough about the fish tacos. I can't give a five star review having only been there once, but I'm hopeful.
(4)Keith O.
You want a sports bar where you can actually watch the games and sip a coldie? The 9th Island Sports Pub is your go-to place. Variety of cold draft beer? check Multiple big screens with actual sports on TV? check Volume up on the game you want to watch? Check! Solid assortment of burgers and similar pub food to enjoy while watching? Check! Cute bartenders/waitresses? Double check.
(5)Cass R.
OMG - delicious REAL food, great place to watch your games. The service is stupendous. The best food in Kapaa, right next to Safeway. The Cobb salad was the BEST! Best calamari ever too. Wish we could have tried everything on the menu but we were only there a week. Try 9th Island - you'll want to go back!!
(5)Robert N.
9th Island. Comfortable haven for all tired souls in Kauai on vacation. Clean. Great food and staff. It's a sports bar too! Loved it. I took my family and all were pleasantly surprised. This is the quintessential place for anyone. I had a patty melt. The burger was tender and delicious. My wife had the seared ahi with mashed potatoes (ask for wasabi and mix it with the potatoes - Yumm!). My daughter had the fish and chips made from fresh Mahi Mahi and my granddaughter had the French dip (beef was tender generous portions, and the French roll was tasty). Make you way to this gem, you won't be disappointed.
(5)Marie B.
We had a party of eleven . They made space for us and we had the nicest server ever. I thought the decor was OK and very cool with the big TVs and all the sports showing. The food was AMAZING! Yes, it was that good. Fair prices and very clean inside. We just found our new favorite place to eat! We loved it. We had burgers and best frys ever! I had the grilled chicken and bacon pineapple burger! AWESOME! The staff is always moving and taking care of your every need. This will be a must when we come next time. Oh and great beer battered fish and chips! You gotta go here cause your friends and family will thank you!
(5)Cathy B.
