One of my good friends loves it here so been here for lunch about three or four times. During lunch they have a combination special for two choices @ $10.95. Choices include tonkatsu, chicken katsu, tempura, salmon, sashimi, teriyaki chicken, and tons more overall a good selection. The plates come with salad, rice, tsukemono, takuan, and miso soup. Besides the lunch deal they have a decent selection of sushi, which is nice in kaneohe when the alternatives for sushi are pretty much genki or ninja. The nigiri I've tried there has always been pretty good for the price, I've only had one roll (tempura roll with spicy tuna) it was much bigger than I expected probably about 8 big pieces, taste wise it was ok -- good but nothing special. Overall it's a nice small place where the lady is always friendly. The lunch special is a good deal and it's a nice place to come if you want to just have a casual good japanese lunch with a friend at a very reasonable price.

My boyfriend and I have eaten at other japanese restaurants in Kaneohe multiple times. We have passed by Domo many times as well, and finally decided to eat there for the first time. There are maybe about 7-8 tables inside, all of which were empty when we went 45 minutes till closing on a monday night. Our server greeted us promptly, and happily, and served us tea and water. I ordered a 2-combo with ahi & vegetable tempura, and misoyaki butterfish. My boyfriend ordered the salmon katsu. We shared food, and I have to say, my favorite was of course what I hadn't ordered myself. The salmon katsu was to die for! The butterfish, and ahi tempura are not the best i've had, but still good. All in all, Domo has a small, family-owned business feel to it. The food and service here won't have me questioning whether I'll be back again.

Domo is a small Japanese restaraunt near windward mall with the best seafood in kaneohe!! I always order the Miso soup, butterfish, grilled salmon and soft shell crab sushi! Ever since they opened the staff have always been friendly and welcoming! Its a very family oriented place good food and reasonable prices!!

Read the 4 and 5 star reviews and could not wait to enjoy the excellent service and wonderful food. We arrived @ 5pm and sat immediately, only a foursome before us. The waitress was not so happy, seemed very bothered by us. No greeting or hello. After waiting 10 minutes to order and another 20 minutes for our food we finally got to eat by 5:40. We ordered 2 tempura udons, tanuki udon and sushi. The food was average and the service was definitely not excellent. Not worth the drive over the Pali.

My folks turned me on to Domo maybe three years ago. They were regulars. (1-2 times a week) I unfortunately don't make it there as often, but when I'm 'ono for a great combo - I go Domo! And the staff is like family - always asking how my Mom is doing - They're very friendly and accommodating!

My wife's family loves to eat here. All the times I had had a chance to go, the food did not disappoint me. Service is great and has a very casual atmosphere. Good place with reasonable prices.

Food is good. Service is sooooooo slow. Only one person cooking and one person manning tables. Took 15-20 mins to get an order in and another 10 to get the drinks.

Haven't eaten here lately, but I love this place whenever I go. It's in the small strip mall adjacent to both Zippy's and Windward Mall. I usually go during lunch-- but it's still excellent. One of the BEST Japanese places on the Windward Side. :) The only problem with it during lunch is that my glass of water stays empty :/ I'm a ravenous drinker. But the food is VERY good and the service is excellent.

This has become one of our favorite Japanese Restaurant! The food is great! Love their Tempura, sashimi, oh - everything! The service is great, very friendly ladies and they remember you when you become a regular! It is a small place and they get busy, so you might have to wait if you go during Friday - Sunday for dinner. But it is well worth the wait!

Our original plan was to go to Kikuya, with no success the place was packed & no parking. The in-laws wanted to eat Japanese food so we went to Domo. A quaint little place. The atmosphere was clean & bright. The floorplan of the eating area was comfortable and tables were not too close together like other small restaurants where they try to fit in as much tables as they can. The decor could maybe use a bit more adding & touching up, it was just lacking something. Hmmm 2 fans, 4 lanterns, 2 Asian umbrellas is all that was displayed on the white walls of this dining area. The register and counter area was very clean & neat with no visible clutter (which I normally see in small restaurants like these). The service was awesome. Very warm and friendly. Our water glasses & teacups were never empty. Not once did we have to ask for water refill (a pet peeve of mine, wanting to drink water from my glass only to find out it's empty for like the last half hour) The food was great. Very tasty and the portions was good too. Prices for their combos were very reasonable. Meals come with salad, tsukemono, miso soup & rice. I had the udon w/tempura & chicken katsu combo..it was oishi! My daughter loved the butterfish & miso soup with rice. As I looked around I saw many different dishes at other tables and they looked yummy too. My only regret was not ordering sashimi like my in-laws did. I will the next time I visit. A great place for reasonably priced good tasting Japanese food. Good atmosphere, warm friendly staff, parking available. It is a small quaint place, get there early before the rush..due to it's size, they fill up pretty quickly. I will surely be coming back! Especially for the sashimi & toro

Food was great; service friendly. Note to Yelpers: no liquor/wine/beer license, but brown bagging available. General note: born-again Jesus music was played the entire time. Personally, not my cup of tea.

This is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants when we visit home. Their delicious butterfish keeps making us return for more! We had dinner there the night before Thanksgiving and the place was so packed that a few groups actually left after waiting for awhile. So glad we made a reservation in advance! We waited for over an hour to get our food, but it was well worth the wait.

We tried going to Kenko-ya which was closed for some reason and ended up here. Similar food choices; sushi, donburi, udon & soba, & combo meals. All very tasty & normal pricing but a little pricey for a hole in the wall type place. Tonight was very busy, we're guessing because the other restaurant was closed. Service was good but slow because there seems to be only one person in the back and one waitress in the front. Most likely because they were extra busy on this Monday night. I had a combo meal that's not available at other places - mini udon & shrimp & vegetable tempura with rice, salad, & miso soup. Delicious, we'll probably end up there again.

I love the butterfish here. It is really good. I also like the salmon dish. They have great service and great food. If you are in the area you should really try this place out. I think they are a little expensive but Japanese Food in general is a bit expensive. But you can't argue with good quality.

After hanging out at the beach in Kailua we were hungry and craving sushi. Based on reviews we decided to try Restaurant Domo. The staff was very friendly, especially to the 2 year old we had with us. I was highly impressed by the quality of the Nighiri sushi- very health portions of fish, good cut and very fresh. We don't eat out often on the Windward side but I know we'll return before too long.

OK, so I was mis-informed. Domo is not Japanese-owned; it's Korean-owned, BUT there IS a Japanese lady that works there. Anyway, it doesn't matter who owns this place or what ethnicity the ladies are who work here - everyone I've encountered has been very polite and attentive. AND they're still waaaaaay better than Kikuya (you blow!). Sticking with my mini-steak/tempura and mini-steak/teri chix combos. This place has gotten more crowded, though, bummer. I wonder if people are converting to from Kikuya to Domo...hmmm? Shmaht peepo!

I am so glad that I tried this place. Apparently it's been in Kane'ohe for awhile but we never discovered it until recently. It a tiny place with only about 10 tables and two people we saw serving tables but the place was crowded and the service was fast and excellent! My husband who had never had butterfish in his life snagged a piece of mine... And boy oh boy is he HOOKED! He has been raving about how much flavor the butterfish is and recommending it to everyone! Definite Yum!

Surprised about the great reviews. No sake - no combo plates - and we're the only people in this place. The roll that we ordered was really good, but poor location.

Only second time eating here. Usually go to Kenko-ya down the street. When my boyfriend & I walked in, we weren't greeted by anyone nor were we told where we could sit. The restaurant isn't very big (about 10 or so tables), so we just found a spot right by the door. We were in the mood for sushi, so we somewhat knew what we wanted to eat. We were given our menu, and we decided to eat: - California Roll - Alaskan Roll - Spicy Tuna Roll - Rainbow Roll The food itself wasn't too bad. The spicy tuna was just spicy not much flavor. The Alaskan Roll was odd. It was my first time eating sushi with cream cheese in it. Rainbow Roll & California Roll were standard. There wasn't anything spectacular or wrong with it. I don't know if I would eat there again. Maybe if Kenko-ya was too packed.

This is my favorite Japanese place to go to. We usually order the 2 or 3 combination dinners. I often order the salmon, sashimi and tempura. The tempura is light and crispy and not oily tasting. We also order the mini steak which is a teriyaki rib eye. The restaurant is cool and clean, just the way I like it. The service is great and the ladies are very nice and friendly. We go here about 2-4 times a month. The katsu is good, Tried the sukiyaki, had nice big mushroom pieces, it was a lot of food, so couldn't finish it all. I like this place better than Kenko Ya or Kikuya. Everything is consistently good. And on Wednesdays you can walk off your dinner at the mall at the Farmer's Market.

  • Dawn G.

We got there right when they opened and I was glad we beat the crowd. I had the combo with mini Teri ribeye, sashimi, shrimp & veggie tempura. Everything was good and reasonably priced. The steak was a little overdone for me but not tough at all. I like steak really rare so next time i will request it that way. They gave 7 pcs of sashimi which is really generous. Will go back again for sure.

this the best mom and pop japanese restaurant ever!... if your mom and pop were really nice koreans who made awesome Japanese food (lucky you, mine aren't probably why we eat at domo so often) this would be your home! :) They have a yummy combination plate, so you can have your sashimi and eat your tempura too & they have most importantly MOCHI ICE CREAM!

Love the prices here. Good portions for the price. Always filling. Staff if friendly and usually very attentive no matter how busy they are. Recommend the Teriyaki Beef.

Was going to go to Kikuya but couldn't get parking. Saw a review about Domo so decided to try it out. I'm do glad I did the food was fantastic the service was great and there was a lot of parking. Very child friendly owner brought our 16 month old a free miso which she devoured. I had the chicken katsu and tonkatsu combo portions were perfect and tasted delicious. I will definitely be back.

Stopped in for lunch and got a bento with ahi sashimi and chicken katsu. Ahi was fresh and tasty and the katsu was delicious. Perfectly cooked and the sauce is really good. $10 for a delicious lunch is ok by me anytime.

Domo is a great place to go if you're craving good, relatively cheap Japanese food. We visited a few days ago, and I had Chicken and Vegetable Curry and Beef Teriyaki. The beef was tender, and packed with flavor, the sauce was a perfect combination of sweet/salty. The Curry was a bit looser than I would expect, and it definitely isn't cocoichibanya curry, but it was a nice compliment to the teriyaki. All meals there come with salad, tsukemono and miso soup. All of which are great. The salad comes with a house ginger/peanut dressing which is light and tasty. The restaurant though, is known for their ribeye steak with teriyaki sauce which comes with onions and sprouts sizzling on a hot iron skillet. the aromas are enough to make me salivate, and the tender ribeye is done just right. We've been regulars here for our weekly night out on Fridays, and chances are we'll keep going back!

This is without a doubt my favorite Japanese restaurant ever! I usually get the mini steak (but they've temporarily discontinued it) and assorted tempura. There is only one chef for this small restaurant, but he always cooks the food to perfection. It is always fresh and never under/overcooked. Always generous portions too. My mom had the sashimi and it was super fresh!! The waitresses there are always so friendly and welcoming. This shop is worth every penny!

Second time here and first time for my husband. They have a nice clean interior that's not overdone or gaudy. We went there around 1pm on a Saturday and even though I called ahead to reserve a table they weren't crowded at all. Other than ourselves there were two other tables with parties of two and one table with six. I ordered the lunch combo ($10.95) of grilled salmon and shrimp & veg tempura. The salmon was about a 4 or 5 oz. portion perfectly grilled with a crispy sliver of skin served over shredded cabbage and a lemon wedge. The tempura was light, tasty and generous - 2 pcs shrimp, 2 green beans, 1 eggplant & 1 kabocha squash. I ordered all tossed salad vs. having the rice its usually served with and ordered a side of cold soba ($7.00 ish) which is served with their soba dipping sauce, grated ginger, daikon, wasabi and green onion. The soba was tender with the perfect amount of chew and was nicely chilled. Id get it again in a heartbeat! Husband ordered the tonkatsu don ($9.00 ish) and had only great things to say about it. He said he'd definitely get it again and had enough leftover for dinner that night. Even though my initial thought was that they could give more salmon with my combo in reality it's a good amount of food for lunch time and the price. The combo is served between 11-2:30 and you can choose two different items from a list of 8-10 dishes. Domo also serves complimentary miso soup (tasty and not watered down) along with a serving of tsukemono which is not too salty and still has some crunch. Good middle of the road Japanese food at pretty reasonable prices. If you need a tempura fix this place'll scratch it! On a previous lunch about six months prior I had the spicy tuna roll (basic w/ avocado) and soft shell crab roll (tasty & not oily) for and entree I also had a combo but with teri beef and ahi tempura. The teri beef was thin slices marinaded in a sweet shoyu based sauce that was ok and the ahi tempura had 2 pcs fish, 1 eggplant, 2 kabocha squash served with tossed salad and rice. Again, good portions for lunch and pretty reasonable prices. Service was great and quick!

I revisited Restaurant Domo on Wednesday. I had the Katsu Don and Teishoko: Tempura/Rib Eye steak. OMG, the Katsu was soooo tough and it had pink kamoboku in it (yuck-don't expect to find that in a Katsu Don!!!) . The ribeye steak was tough and overdone! We informed our server and she only made excuses as to why the Katsu and Steak WAS TOUGH and replaced the steak (only) with TOUGH Teriyaki Meat. Too many excuses as to their tough meat!!! Ridiculous!!! Ok, this was finally our last visit to this place. I don't want to pay to eat TOUGH MEAT. By the way, the food took 25 minutes to come out. (I timed it). **Also, since I recently visited Kikuya, on Kahuhipa Street, and had their Katsu Don, I was able to compare the two and Kikuya's tops Domo's Katsu Don by 5 stars. I'll stick to authentic Japanese food at Kikuya in Kaneohe.

We come here for our sushi date night a lot, it's BYOB, like all of my other favorite restaurants. I love the salad dressing, it's simple and goes good with shichimi pepper, I think it used to have peanuts in it but it's still yummy without. The soft shell crab is awesome, I prefer the whole crabs (2 per order) but they have a roll too. We had the Hamachi sashimi last time and it was very fresh and a generous portion, melts in your mouth like butter. I've had their butterfish teishoku, and it was real butterfish and cooked to perfection. My only gripe about this place is the lighting, it's super bright fluorescents and they don't make for much ambience. But their great food and service make up for the bad lighting.

My mom, husband, and 2 son's went to eat lunch today and my mom went to pay the bill well the lady didn't see a tip on the table and came running after my husband saying where is the tip. SO RUDE. It's not expected it's earned. What was she thinking. My husband was so shocked. I am writing to let everyone know just what kind of customer service they have. WE WILL NEVER BE EATING IN THERE AGAIN !!!!

Love, love, love this place! Everything is sooo delicious and reasonably priced....the owners are soo nice. My partner treated me to lunch there last week...he told them it was my birthday...they were so nice, gave me mochi ice cream...ha ha. So cute ya! Love the bento lunches...2 choices and only about $10. I really want to go over there for dinner....kind of a long drive for us, but I think it's worth it! Let's support great local businesses! Can't wait to go back!

Found ourselves in Kaneohe looking for a t-shirt - shorts - and slippers casual, and no-raucous-Seattle fans quiet place for dinner. This small restaurant is tucked away in a little shopping plaza on the Kahuhipa Street side of Windward Mall. Clean and tidy. Our food took a little long to get to us. Understandable as the cook-owner mans the kitchen by himself. There were just 2 other couples besides the 3 of us. But a phone order was filled while we were there so he can get quite busy quite fast. Had the 3-choice combo dinner for $20.95. Broiled salmon, assorted tempura, and sashimi. The fair sized piece of salmon was overcooked and under-seasoned. Also, the wife's teriyaki steak was well-done; not the medium-rare she ordered. Maybe both were left on the grill a bit too long while the cook was attending to the more demanding tempura. Tempura good with a flavorful batter. Assortment included 3 shrimp, 2 green beans, and a slice each of eggplant and kabocha. Tentsuyu too light for my taste. In Japan (Shinagawa), my wife and I experienced a hoidy-toidy tempura restaurant that didn't even serve a sauce with its tempura. The tempura was meant to be enjoyed with nothing more than a dash of sea salt if anything at all. Maybe that was the intent of Domo, but the batter wasn't THAT tasty. Nor was there any sea salt at hand. Sashimi was ahi and fresh, but sinewy. Properly cut across the lines of sinew, the 6 bite-sized pieces were no problem at all. All in all, a decent place for decent Japanese food. Domo, DOMO.

Great food.. This was my first time here; I had the chicken karaage, mini steak, sushi rice combination and it was delicious!! I also had side of California roll and it was just okay.. I've tasted better at other Japanese restaurants. I love the Asian decor and the workers are nice and friendly. Prince is reasonable. If I'm ever down in the windward side again, I'll definitely come back here!!

You will find friendly service and tasty Japanese cuisine. We got spider, super Cali rolls and 3 double combos for dinner for 84 greenbacks before tip, no drinks. Somewhat tucked away location.

We live in Kaneohe and were looking for a new place to try. Restaurant Domo received so many positive reviews, we thought we'd give them a try. My son had the butterfish...he said it was one of the best fish dishes he'd ever had, my husband had the shrimp tempura and it was delicious as well, and I had the pork tonkatsu which was perfect ( I am a tonkatsu connoisseur and it definitely passed the test!) We went on Monday at 5pm when they opened at which time there was plenty of parking. The service was very good as well. We will definitely be eating here again.

My bro and his girlfriend invited the girls and I to dinner. My bro perused Yelp and suggested this place because a) they'd eaten here before and b) I think they secretly wanted to see what I yelped about after the experience. See whenever we go out, they always tease me that I better get good service or I am going to Yelp about it. Which is true...however, I also yelp about places that offer EXCELLENT service as well, not just the bad stuff. So we arrived and they'd already ordered food. This place is a hole-in-the-wall behind Kaneohe Zippys and near Boston Pizza. If you aren't familiar with Kaneohe I can almost bet that you wouldn't be able to find this place, it's that discreet. Inside is fairly simple and basic. A bunch of chairs and tables in a quaint setting. Nothing fancy. The bro and his girl already ordered sushi when we arrived. We checked out the menu and a teishoku-style combo with 2 choices was around $16.99 and $19.95 or so for 3. The girls had udon and I ordered a grilled salmon and tempura teishoku combo. The meals came quickly and the food was tasty. The salmon was moist and grilled to perfection. The tempura was lightly battered, which I like, and not soggy. The miso soup was hot and tasty with a few small bits of tofu. The udon came in a large noodle bowl and was filling for the rugrats. As for the sushi it was not bad and tasty. The waitress/cashier/hostess was a really sweet Japanese woman and she expertly maneuvered her way through the restaurant managing to fill water glasses, take orders, place orders, deliver meals and cash out patrons single-handedly. She was amazing, to say the least! She also gave fruit snacks to the girls when the meal was over as a nice gesture, sooo sweet! Overall loved the service, the food and the place, excellent choice!

Went here by accident......looking for Kikuya. Remember seeing a review on cheap eats about a good Japanese food restaurant in Kaneohe. This place is clean and the food is tasty and fresh. You have to wait a while for your food (my 5 year old was bouncing off the walls waiting) as a result of everything being made to order. I had the tonkatsu/sashimi, the misses had the udon/Unagi, and the oldest child had butterfish/sashimi. While the portions look small, it fills you up. For some unknown reason, the tonkatsu tasted awesome the next day (usually leftover tonkatsu taste like cardboard). Definitely will come back here again. Need to support small, quality mom and pop establishments like this!

We went here on a Wednesday night and to our surprise it was completely empty. There were about 10 tables or so but everything was nice and clean (well, it better be if no customers are present). Moreover, maybe since the absence of customers, body heat was minimal and the AC dominated the atmosphere. Anyway, bring a jacket just in case. Other than that, the food was of moderate quality. And, as a big fan of spicy tuna, their roll tasted rather bland to me. The miso soup and green tea were both tasty and hot though. In addition, their menu displays a decent array of bento meals, combination plates, and desserts. Lastly, even though we were the only ones in there, the service was prompt; everything came out in a timely manner.

Great restaurant to go to if you're looking for some good Japanese food. I had the 3-piece combination of mini steak, chicken karaage, and sashimi. The food was really good and I can't wait to go back next time i'm on that side of the island. Only reason that I give this place only 4/5 stars is because it took around 30 minutes for the food to come out (with barley anyone inside). Regardless, if you don't mind the wait, then it's worth it.

Tiny Mom & Pop restaurant in a strip mall behind Zippy's. Had a great meal at a decent price. Wife and I both had 3 choice combos. It was immediately obvious that my tempura was freshly cooked, hot and nicely crispy. Butterfish was excellent. Easy parking, BYOB, and good food put's this place on out "return to" list.

Thought we would try a new Japanese restaurant in Kaneohe, so went here. It wasn't very crowded, only one other couple at 6:30pm. A Korean women came out and tried to explain something on the menu. It was very hard to understand her. We ordered miso soup and rice and udon for the children, which they ate. One daughter said shes had better (guess who?). Hubby and I ordered the spicy tuna roll and salmon sashimi. The sashimi was about two inches thick (I'm exaggerating) with some remnants of skin. The sushi was typical. I was going to rate a two but rated a three because maybe we just ordered wrong. It looks like the box sets are better but it's back to our favorite, Kenko-Ya next time.

Very good food, friendly service. Teishoku, saimin and udon. The tempura was light and crunchy, not oily. Noodles were cooked well and dashi was very tasty. Our senior parents really enjoyed their meal. Miso Butterfish and salmon were good choices for us. Reservation is recommended since the place is small and a steady stream of diners were coming during our entire meal. The restaurant is clean and well lit too with free parking.

I was very impressed with this restaurant. It is a small hole-in-the-wall restaurant, but don't let that turn you away. The food was fantastic and well priced. The service is amazing and I would definitely go back. From what I could tell there are only two employees; a woman who acts as the hostess, server, and busser, as well as the cook in the back. The hostess is very friendly and appreciative and seems very passionate about her job, as well as the restaurant. I can honestly say this is the best Japanese food I have ever eaten. Definitely take a trip to this restaurant if you have the opportunity to do so. Note: They don't take American Express.

Our absolute fave place for chicken katsu curry!!! It's a small and humble establishment near the mall but their curry isn't cheap with already added meat. It's made from scratch. Most curry places use beef or pork broth but real authentic Japanese curry is veggie based broth with no pork or pork broth. I was told by my Japanese mates that they usually use left over meat scraps to make the curry when it is cheap so I know these guys are the real deal. Tastes sooo good!!! And the family that runs this is so helpful! They always give us extra rice with tofu miso for our little baby. We just keep coming back!

This restaurant never fails to disappoint. You can tell the oil is fresh when you taste the chicken Katsu, tempura or any other fried items. Their steak, in my opinion, is one of the best choices! It comes out sizzling on a stone-like plate. Everyone stared when I got it hehe. For a small restaurant, they seem to use high quality ingredients and have a large variety of different dishes. As for the staff, they are very attentive. My glass has never been empty; they always refill your cup. During the day, there is only one waitress. They have two waitresses during dinner on the weekends. For a small staff, they do the work of probably 3 or 4 waitresses. You are never just sitting at the table. They bring out the tsukemonos miso soup and salad to keep your mouth busy while you wait for your food. I personally love their salad dressing. It's homemade apparently! Overall, I would come here again and again. They never fail to disappoint. And it seems to show how popular it's getting since they have people waiting outside to get seated. Oh! And of course the price.. It's worth the money for the quantity they give. I think it's quite fair.

My family of five went there for dinner and received excellent service from the entire staff. The food was superb and exceeded my expectations. My mother especially loved the unagi and the sushi was excellent. The fried tofu was fantastic, and it was a reasonable price. The side dishes was very tasty as well. My only gripe is that the location is far from downtown Honolulu. So that I cannot go as often as I wanted. My mother highly recommend the unagi donburi.

Placed a take-out order this evening, and after picking up the order, noticed that they gave us the wrong order. When I returned to the restaurant to alert them that what we were given was incorrect, they didn't offer to remake our order. Instead they told us we had to wait for the people who took our original order to return with the food. I have never heard of anything so ridiculous. I will never patronize this place again.

Wife and I and our visiting relatives came here after trying to go to Pah Ke's which was closed. Arrived here at 8 pm and the place is packed...good sign. The waitress was friendly even though it was close to closing time. She was helpful in directing my brother in law and his wife from Germany who are unfamiliar to Japanese food. After frustratingly going through the menu 3 or 4 times, I ordered for him. I got the a la carte chicken katsu which is the closest thing to German weiner schinzel I could find. His wife was more adventurous and got the dragon roll. Wife and I got the two item teishoku. She got saba and I got the sashimi. Food comes out and portions are HUGE. 7 pieces of Ahi for sashimi. Saba was tasty and prepared well. Germans were happy with their meal. At the end 80 bucks for 4 people. Domo.....arigato!

My husband and I come here every few weeks for dinner for a few years now. We have to show up by at least 6:30 or else the place is packed, and it's not too roomy. Although we have gone there one night and it was so empty we had the place to ourselves. We couldn't get over it, so wierd. Between the two of us we have tried: *Misoyaki butterfish (my personal fav) *Ribeye steak (comes out in a sizzling platter) (mini with the combo) *Beef teriyaki (sliced ribeye) Salmon katsu (good but I like other stuff better) *Tonkatsu (one of the best I've had, good size pork lion) *Sashimi (I dont eat raw fish, but my husband says it's one of the better places to get it) *Chicken curry (yum) Yakiudon (double yum!) *Mini Udon (it's ok) *Chicken karaage (eh I've had better) Note: * are the ones you can get in the combo, although you can buy it as a one item entrees too A 3 item combo is $19.95 and a 2 item combo is $16.95. While the one item entrees range between $13.95 - $19.95 (I might be a few dollars off, I cant remember since I usually get the combos). Lunch specials are 2 items for $10.95 (you just don't get the butterfish) - this is an awesome deal, I need to do this more! Drinks: I'm not sure if they have many choices. But the stuff I have gotten so far: Coke, ice tea, ice green tea...are all sold in cans around $1.50-2.00. A little steep for a little can you can buy from the store for a lot less, but hey if you wants it, you wants it. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and have brought my mom here, and she is the pickiest person with food. She's also a fantastic cook so she thinks eating out is not as good as her cooking. She's right 98% of the time. ;) I would give this place 5 stars, but I minus one star because the service is extremely slow and some days I get edamame coming out with my miso soup and some days I don't. Usually there is only one lady (I think she is the owner) and less often another lady, I just started seeing her this year. Then one guy that cooks in the back. So this is definitely a Mama/Pop operation. It's more expensive that some other places, like Kenko-Ya, but it's a for sure good meal!

A typical mom and pop Japanese Restaurant. Basically found this place on a whim and because of Yelp. While being in Hawaii, I was honestly craving sushi and was hoping for some fresh sushi. Was basically looking for a sushi joint that was fairly priced and had fresh fish. Restaurant Domo turned out to be decent for me. It's a pretty small restaurant, but luckily we got seated right away. We beat the lunch crowd!!!! Looking through yelp, I thought they would have more specialty roll options, but they didn't. That was a bummer. I ordered the specialty combo items and got mini udon and sashimi and it was delicious! It also came with a side of Edamame, Miso Soup, Pickled Stuff, Salad, and Rice. I didn't even know it came with all that stuff, but I wasn't complaining. The edamame didn't come with an extra plate/bowl and I was lazy to ask for one, so that was disappointing. The rest of my family got Sashimi, a few rolls, and a lot of unagi! Who can't go wrong with Unagi?? Overall, this place wasn't so bad, but I would rather go to place with more options of specialty rolls. I would give this place a 3.5, maybe a 3.75 if there was that option. There was only 1 waitress working and I guess 1 cook, so service was somewhat slow. Wished all of our food came out at the same time, but it took them awhile with my brother's order, and it was only sashimi... I would recommend this place if you are in the area! The name is cool sounding too! Haha

Growing up in Kaneohe, everyone knows, there isn't much variety. You got the mall, some restaurants outside, oh my favorite... Zippy's. You get the idea. After a friend raved about this place, I just had to give it a shot. Went around 7:30, and it was completely EMPTY. I believe it has a lot to do with its location. It's located directly across from Zippy's, in a very small, and I mean very small, shopping center, right next to wholesale unlimited. Just a warning: It's located right next to a nail place, and the nail salon leaves their door open, so sometimes Domo can have that really gross nail odor. Now the food. I ordered the tonkatsu. They gave A LOT, or at least in my opinion. It also came with miso soup, served beforehand. The tonkatsu was breaded very nicely, and the meat was very tender. The only thing that I didn't like was the sauce. It was just different so to say. It was a lot darker than your normal dark red katsu sauce, this one looked almost black. It was very tangy. I just wanted to add some sugar, but that would of probably been pretty disgusting. They also have sushi on their menu, but not a lot of variety. But I definately want to try the chirashi, looks so good. Second round is needed!

I love the food here! I've been here twice and it's always been great!! I like both Domo and Kenko Ya, but I think Domo may give you more food. Their tonkatsu is delicious and so is their chirashi.

This was one of the finest Japanese meals I have eaten in a long time. Quality, Taste, Presentation and Service were all outstanding. When you have a restaurant that is located a little bit off the beaten path they have to be really good to survive. I will definitely be back to Domo.

My dad is visiting from CA this week and he asked to find somewhere with good chicken teri. I've been living here less than a year so I, of course, defaulted to the vast knowledge of my fellow yelpers. I was a little nervous when we arrived - the place was almost EMPTY. It did start to fill up by the time our drinks came though. Whew! Chicken Teri: Good tender meat. Nice portions - but the winner for us was the SAUCE. I don't even care if it is OR ISN'T bottled, it was damn tasty! Beef Teri: Same ^^ + a decent scoop of rice, not so much as to cheap out on the meat, not so little as to make you ask for more. Spicy Tuna Roll: A healthy sized 6 pieces. I had asked if they could dip the roll and make it a spicy tempura roll (since they already have a tempura roll) and she said "NO". An answer I'm not accustomed to at sushi places. I also wasn't crazy about the actual tuna, it wasn't bad by any means, but I've been very fortunate to know some very respected sushi chefs. A little more spicy in my spicy tuna woulda been nice. But I digress.... Beef Yakisoba: Again, SUPER healthy portion! It was tender, well seasoned and served nice and hot! Hubby said it was, "So delicious!" Beware of the one way parking and the secuuuuurrrity guard!

Really good Japanese restaurant in Kaneohe. I was a little skeptical but I've eaten here a few times and have enjoyed the food. The teishoku's are reliability good - my husband gets the saba teishoku which gives you three big pieces of saba, a salad, rice, and miso soup. My mother in law got the spicy tuna with nato on top don which is pretty good - lots of fish on top of good rice. I got nigiri - maguro, hamachi, salmon, and tobiko. I was not expecting much but I was really pleasantly surprised by the fresh quality of the fish. The hamachi and salmon were especially buttery and fatty. The maguro and tobiko were just ok. The atmosphere is a bit lacking as the fluorescent lights make you want to kill yourself, but, overall, I think this restaurant is a good value.

Kaneohe is not a real foodie town, but it has a high concentration of reasonably priced, good quality restaurants. Places like Pah Ke's and El Mariachi are good examples. The hubby was craving some sort of soup to go with this crazy weather we've been having and with the help of yelp we found Restaurant Domo. Domo has sushi, udon, domburi, and other typical Japanese fare. They also offer combination teishoku specials. You can order 1 choice for $16.95 or 2 choices for $19.95. Each combination comes with miso soup, salad, and tsukemono. My husband got the tempura/sashimi combo and I got the grilled saba/tempura combo. The portions were big! Sashimi = 7 pieces of fresh ahi, no sinew. Most places only give you 3 slivers. Tempura = 3 pieces of shrimp and several assorted vegetables. The batter wasn't light and crisp like traditional tempura. It was more like local okazu-ya style, kind of doughy with a slight crisp, still pretty yummy though. Saba (mackerel) = A whole half-fish fillet. Who does that? Most restaurants serve a small card sized portion. As long as you don't burn saba, it is pretty much hard to screw up, and in this case it was cooked perfectly. Miso soup, salad, tsukemono = Soup was salty (in a good way) warm and comforting. The salad was nothing fancy served with some type of ginger, mayo and sesame dressing. The tsukemono was pretty standard, nothing fancy, just pickled cabbage. I'd definitely come back for some Japanese comfort food. Good food and great price. It's nice to have an easy place like this on the windward side.

Small place near Windward Mall. Visited after reading a few yelp reviews and looking at the photos. Pretty good Japanese for the price. My husband and I each had a 2-choice combo dinner. He chose the mini-steak and grilled salmon. Steak was a good size (6 ounces) and very soft. I selected the tonkatsu and shrimp tempura. Good size portions.

Domo Arigatto! Domo is a nice small local styled Japanese restaurant in Kaneohe. Its decor and staff are well presented and fits into the mold of Kikuya, Hifumi, Kochi, etc... You know the places, reasonable prices, decent food, and local flavored dishes. Domo doesn't stand out in any way. The food is solid as is the prices, but it is a good to eat place that fits a niche. Kikuya's is usually pretty crowded with people sitting in the dark at 445, waiting for them to officially open. Domo is just as good, although Kikuya's combo dinners are a better value. Overall, Domo is a nice place to eat for families in Kaneohe.
