Well, it is a seafood restaurant. I don't know why I ordered a burger. Well anyways, I think it was overly priced for what you're getting. Come on, for a ready made patty? It's like going to Burger King. Skip this one people. Just do the happy hour with some pupus.

I took the family here during our recent vacation. We were purposely trying to stay away from the touristy/resorty restaurants and go with a more locals feel. This place is definitely more for locals, which is not to say unfriendly. We found this place and the people to be very friendly. I wish I could recall our servers name. She did a great job with us. We got there just before happy hour ended and she let us buy our second drinks at happy hour rates even though it had ended 15 minutes earlier. Food is good and portions on the medium sized scale. I think their menu could be updated a little bit. The only negative is the fact you are across the street from a refinery and working shipping harbor. No bad smells, the view is just not good.

Great food & service. The number listed here is wrong! It's 808-880-9393. Must try the Mai Tai's & anything with fresh fish! Don't whine about the view as it's located in an industrial harbor area... I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to get away from stuffy resort atmosphere.

Enjoyed this place so much - we came by FIVE times while we were on vacation. Happy Mai Tais and Calamari are the best on the island. Their poke is served warm on rice - so amazing. Ask for a side of wasabi mayo with it - you won't regret it. They have a few fresh fish selections each day - so delicious. Great service, nice atmosphere, great price and value and definitely great taste! We can't wait to come back!

This came up while searching for a local place to eat at. The reviews were positive so we gave it a shot. Finding it can be hard since the iPhone gets confused. Don't turn right at the main intersection - go left towards the water and harbor. As you go down you will see the port, keep going and look for a green building on your right with tanks on the left. The restaurant is upstairs. The service is fast and friendly with very good specials. Happy hour is awesome with $8 appetizers. We got the fried calamari which is mind blowing. It is not the small ring type but a big slab. It was perfectly cooked with a peppery seasoning and crunchy batter. The texture was smooth and not rubbery. We ordered the black bean seafood and fried rice seafood dishes. Both were excellent. The flavor were apparent although not over powering. The food was piping hot and quickly served. The portion size is perfect and more than what you typically get in an island area. The restaurant had several locals which means it is off the beaten path. Small seating area so go early (before 6) if possible. The food is reasonable priced - we got an appetizer, two main dishes, and a beer for $50. Not bad at all. The only small downside is the view is a challenge, but don't let that deter you. It is worth the drive and food quality.

Terrible service. Surly waitress incredibly unfriendly. Not how'd you'd expect to be treated in such a lovely place.

It's a pretty typical bar & grill: a range of different dishes to suit all tastes, lots of them with fries, and even more of them on buns. Most of the dishes I tried were good enough, and there's lots of seating and a great outdoor veranda. So, the Harbor Grill may make sense if you find yourself passing through, but it's probably not a destination in and of itself.

Smoked Prime Rib Sandwich was amazing. Since Tuesday's are Prime Rib night, Wednesday's are leftover sandwich days. Sliced Rib, swiss cheese, grilled onions on a Hoagie roll. A side of fries and 3-4 steins of milk....

Amazing drinks with a relaxed atmosphere. The bar is iconic not much seating area, but very happy to Eat outside, it is Hawaii( not the stelar view but really stay for the food, it's worth it) The waitress was Great, she gave us time to review the menu and take advantage of happy hour. First Highly suggest getting the pineapple slaw with anything that you order! It came with one persons order, but I had it as a side & had to fight off the rest of my party from stealing it! Thoroughly enjoyed the coconut shrimp it wasn't over done , nor was it over coated. Another person In my party had the short ribs , and that really did live up to melting your mouth or fork tender(however you want get it) . The final person in our party had the lobster and crab soufflé. Word to the wise it is Very good - such sweet meat from fresh seafood & local produce, NOTE * it IS very very rich so suggestion order that as a shared dish, & try some more appetizers! Love the food was amazing fresh perfect if we had more time we would've had dessert!

We loved this place so much we came twice during our vacation. Fresh fish is the best. Salads are terrific. Ambience is like a Tiki Room. Great props all around the ceilings and walls Cocktails are delicious. Service is very friendly and your orders are fast. Topped off dinner with out of this world Chocolate Macadamia nut ice cream!!!

Good food. Location: We found this place kind of tricky to find. The address seemed to be wrong on foursquare & yelps seemed a little off too. They are across the street from a factory (on the ocean side) and if you've passed a gas station, you've gone too far. They're on the second floor, above other shops (a ice cream & coffee shop, etc) Food: The sandwiches we ordered were pretty good and the drinks were also refreshing. I really enjoyed my French dip sandwich with a side of onion rings. Parking: There's parking up front or if you go to the right, once you're in the lot, and follow the road back. There's more parking behind the building. Enjoy!

This place is ok for lunch- just went to the grill not the seafood bar. At the grill, there isn't much seafood on the menu. The parents wanted seafood- actually mom did and dad does what she says. We had to drive an hour up here from keauhou for the second day in a row since it had been closed on Saturday for the triathalon. The servers were super nice and doted on baby bean who ran around the empty restaurant for most of lunch. Portions were huge- share people! Or be prepared to take home for later. We were headed to the beach so didn't really want potato salad and fish in the hot car! Mom got a Hawaiian salad with the fish of the day- a huge grilled filet of Ono on top of what resembled a greek salad- tomatoes, olives, pepperoncini and celery but with yakisoba noodles and pickled Ginger added to the mix. Kind of odd but lots of food for the money. I ordered teriyaki short ribs with rice and potato salad- I think they gave me half a cow. A little fatty but great flavor, like kalbi. The potato salad had bacon- what a naughty treat that made for great flavor. Dad got the fish sandwich. Another big piece of Ono with bread, tartar and fries. Overall, lots of food, good service and prices but I would prefer smaller servings and more variety- the menu is small.

We ate at Seafood Bar twice this June on a trip to the Big Island. It was recommended highly by a local. Awesome imaginative food, reasonable prices for the Big Island and this area, super fast and friendly service. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Hawaii.

this is NOT closed. I had dinner there last night. Theyndid combine the downstairs and upstairs restaurant into one, upstairs. Dave isnwonderful, makes every customer feel special. We had drinks, appetizers, oysters and fresh "catch of the day" fish and everything was fantastic! The ahi was amazingly fresh and the calamari steak ap was perfect, served with wasabi mayo. I'm afraid we all looked like we hadn't eaten in weeks! The decor is classic hawaiian, kind of retro, loved it! This is a hopping place and it seems like a local hangout.

YES! just yes! came here twice while visiting the Big Island last month. the first time i had the island salad with poke. it was so delicious, with a plentiful portion of fresh poke, a variety of veggies and soba noodles in the salad. And the creamy oriental dressing - so good! this salad is the reason we came back a second time. my husband had a burger the first time, but at my insistance, he tried the salad on our second visit, and he too liked it. i dare to say, this was my favorite meal while on HI. we also liked this place because it was away from most of the tourist traps you find in kona and waikoloa. the ambiance isn't great - the inside has a fun island feel, but it's a little dark. we sat on the outside terrace both times and just ignored the view of the industrial plant across the street. service is laid back, but not slow and the people here are nice. prices are fair (by hawaiian standards). and they have happy hour! harbor grill is definitely worth a visit. get the island salad with poke! you won't be sorry. i don't see their website posted here, so here it is: seafoodbarandgrill.com

The only reason for 4, not 5 stars, is because of the view: nothing to brag about. But the food was excellent and we liked the local atmosphere. We thinking of returning tonight; our 17 year old son is hankering after the coconut shrimp. Excellent Mai tais. Fresh catch of the day was priced affordably. Perhaps our favorite Big Island dinner place. Now, if only they could move the harbor tanks...

We'd been to this restaurant once before, and I was not that impressed; so I was unenthusiastic when my husband insisted we eat here for his birthday. Well color me surprised. We had a GREAT dinner. We arrived in time for happy hour. We ordered a couple appetizers - coconut shrimp and calamari. The shrimp was just as you would expect it. The calamari, however, blew us away. Not deep fried ringlets, but a beautifully prepared piece from a calamari steak. We each ordered different main dishes. All delicious and nicely presented. The restaurant brought out a chocolate lava cake for my husband's birthday which we all shared. Warm and heavenly. Not inexpensive but reasonable prices for the quality.

After seeing the other reviews we decided to try this place because it was close to where we were staying. This was the correct decision. We walked in @7pm and were offered an inside table right away. The place was hoppin'. Our waitress was right out to the table, and quick to fulfill our request for water. She recommended the poke (seared medium), and it was delectable. Wife and I each ordered the burger, well-done. It was the correct decision. Often, well-done means dry and hard. These burgers were juicy! And large. The accompanying wasabi mayo ruled, and the fries were good too. Just like the Kona brewery the day before, Harbor Grill was out of root beer. However, the kid rated the grilled cheese with "ten-million stars." It is a bit pricy, but it is a cool, casual place that we'll go back to in the near future.

We went here after reading some of the other reviews. Overall very good food, especially if you are looking to get away from the local resorts to get a taste of local cuisine. The seafood is excellent and the Hawaiian preparation is especially good. The tuna sashimi was fantastic. And they have good kid-friendly options as well. Service was good and friendly and even though this seems to be a locals hangout, everyone is very friendly and outgoing to people from out of town. The atmosphere is very casual - clearly a place for locals. Eating on the deck is fun although the view is of the road and large petroleum storage tanks. If you are looking get away from the typical resort restaurant atmosphere and get some good local food in a casual environment with friendly people, this is a good place.

A day at Hapuna beach left us famished so off to Harbor grill and seafood bar for dinner it was. The hubby and girls each had the grilled fish sandwich served with lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, wasabi sauce, served with French fries. They all liked it very much. The fish was described as flakey, tender, and flavorful. I had the black bean seafood soup which was a small portion of scallops, shrimp, and chunks of fish in a creamy, white wine sauce topped with cilantro and scallions. I also had a a side of rice to fulfill my starch. A refreshing Mai tai was perfect with my fish. For dessert we split the macadamia nut pie served with chocolate-macadamia locally made ice cream. Should have had the Tahitian vanilla ice cream, probably paired better, but my chocolate addiction got the best of me. The ice cream was delicious and can't wait to go to Waimea for more ice cream flavors. The server was friendly and service was prompt.
(4)Blake S.
So so. Really nice server. Decor is tourist dates. Food was a touch disappointing for the price. View is of the industrial harbor so don't go for the ambiance. Coconut shrimp was overly coconutted and the pineapple sauce made the whole thing too sweet. Seafood quesadilla was probably worth $9-10, not $13. Wouldn't come back unfortunately.

Living in the area, we know where to go for the best burger and fries. Great service, outdoor patio dining or sometimes we sit in the bar for the sports games on their huge TV. They have delicious specials with fish, crab legs, and don't forget the ribs and Mai tai's. This is where the locals go. The owners offer great food, service, and plenty of Aloha. And it is in beautiful downtown Kawaihae

My family and I drove from Waikoloa resort area on a Tuesday night when a prime rib special is offered. We sat down outside and were disappointed with the view of the big oil tanks. Probably the only restaurant with this view. The service was really nice and we were seated right away. The inside decor was also nice with a large bar. I ordered the prime rib special which was slow smoked with Hawaiian wood. Very nice flavor but was so salty around the outside edge that I could not finish. My wife had the seafood combo with shrimp scallops and fish cooked in wine, butter and mushrooms. Nice sauce but it did not come with any vegetables or starch and baked bread was not included. Nice place with good service but not a place I would drive to.

I went here on the recommendation of work colleagues. I wanted a relatively inexpensive place to hang out, have a few cocktails and have some food. They all pointed to this place. It's very local. The staff seem to know everyone that walks through the door. I'd say it's a hotell workers hangout which is a very good thing. I went with my partner for after work dinner and drinks. The Mai Tai's were awesome. I ordered the Flank Steak, coconut shrimp and a Mai Tai. He had one of the seafood entrees but I can't remember which one. The food was very decent for the price. While I wouldn't say it was amazing, it was decent and the service was very friendly. I loved the Tiki motif. It's a local hangout. I'll be back. I think I've found a new hangout that's close to work and is very relaxed and reasonable. I hope to be a regular. High Point: The Mai Tai was pretty damn good.Service was friendly, food was good. Low point: I might know too many customers...I like to me more low key. ;) Chances I'll be back: For sure. I've found my Mai Tai hangout.

After finishing Mauna Kea we decided to come and eat here since it is on the way back. We were all a little bit exhausted and just want to eat anything good. I guess the best thing was we came during their happy hour time. We ordered everything in there happy hour menu however it taste okay. I am not sure its been almost 2 month now on what we order but we were all saying its okay. Perhaps our taste bud were turn off from the high atltitude while in Mauna Kea. I would prob give this place a 2 star however since they were one of the few which are open around 10pm i have increased a star.

I thought this place was fabulous compared to the overpriced food that is common up and down the coast. Definitely worth the drive if you're at one of the larger resorts to the North; Fairmont, Four Seasons, Hapuna Prince, etc. Charming environment, friendly service and finally, affordable prices! I had the lunch special: asian noodles with terriyaki beef and vegetables and it was awesome and under $12! That seems to be the magic number here. My friends had a fresh fish sandwich and it arrived on a fresh whole-wheat bun. The accompanied fries were awesome, too. Apparently their brunch is excellent but we never made it up for it. Oh, and what's better than a $6 cocktail? Compared to the $12 resort ones, this place is an absolute steal...! If you're lucky, Paula the Rooster will say hello to you as you eat on the porch. She's adorable and very friendly, cock-a-doodle-dooooooo!

Posting is in response to Stuart E. from Reno NV. Harbor Grill has been closed for awhile, it has been replaced by Sabrosa Grill, the former owners of Tres Hombres. Seafood Bar upstairs is still going strong! Dave the co -owner is GREAT, food is the best of any on this part of the island, prices are good, drinks are great, lunch and dinner everyday with breakfast Saturday and Sunday and live music on Sunday Night. Drink specials and featured entree every day. For me its the one place that I take all my visiting guest when they come to the Big Island.

I stopped here out of hunger and curiosity. I went upstairs. The sign was for 'Seafood Bar.' The ambiance is nice inside. It's air-conditioned so you need to cool off, it's a great place to grab food and drinks, if you'd like. Outdoor seating is available. There is an adequate breeze that will be enough to keep you cool if you want to go for al fresco dining. The view, however, leaves a lot to be desired. The restaurant is 'ocean-front' but huge silos (or whatever they are) and the unsightly array of port equipment takes away from the scenery. Service was good at the beginning. I was seated right away and my food arrived hot and fresh promptly. It was fairly busy when I got there around 3:30 pm. There was a large group in the corner inside and a few couples outside. By the time I was done, most everyone else left. I had two different people waiting on me, then they were gone. I sat waiting for my check and a to-go box for a while. I ordered the Black Bean Seafood Combo. Not very many black beans in sight but it was loaded with seafood - scallops, shrimp, salmon. It also contained onions and mushrooms. The creamy sauce was really tasty. I didn't want anything else but the waitress talked me into getting parmesan cheese bread with it (extra charge) but it was a great idea. It was good to use on the sauce. I had a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, too. I wanted a Syrah but they were out. They had a small selection of whites and reds but enough variety for a casual drink with lunch (or dinner). The prices on the wine were pretty good. I thought the food was excellent but a bit too pricey altogether. I might come back for a drink or two, and maybe try other dishes since what I ordered was very good. Maybe. Service deteriorated at the end. I waited for a while then I had to wave for someone to bring me my check.

Been on the big island for a week now and this was the most "unsatisfying" meal we have had. First question to the waitress was do they have a kids menu and the answer was no. So if we ordered pizza for my kid it would have even $17 . Bottom line to the owner - if you want family business offer kid portions and prices. I ordered the Black Bean seafood combo and it arrived in this tiny terrine almost like a curry. It needed some rice or something to complete the dish. I left completely unsatisfied. The other fish dishes we ordered were light on the fish. In an area where fresh fish is inexpensive at the retail and wholesale markets don't short your customers on the fish when charging $24 plus for a meal.

Luckily the food and our server were great because we were first greeted by a snarky guy wondering what we wanted. We had made reservations and I walked in with 9 others to an empty place, so... Most ordered something different and there was not a complaint about the food. From the poke to the fresh catch burgers and even quesadillas, the food was pretty awesome. The atmosphere is typical bar/resto and the view is awful, but good food for decent prices if you happen to be in the area.

When you're desperate to see your old college team play in March Madness and your luxury hotel offers $15 hot dogs on room service menus, and no Fox Sports West, you really appreciate an oasis, with a most accommodating wait staff, bartenders and creative cooking. Their hamburgers are excellent, as are their onion rings. The real surprise was a seafood curry, as I absolutely love Indian and Thai food, and this was, after all, a sea food bar. Not to worry! This dish would be a standout in Singapore's best restaurants. The drinks were excellent, the spectators respectful, and I had a thoroughly wonderful time with the dessert, a mud pie, that offered comfort to this disconsolate Bruin. I can't wait 'til next year.

There are two restaurants here - one is Kawaihae Harbor Grill and the other is Kawaihae Seafood Bar. The menus are similar but different. The hostess of the Harbor Grill made it clear to us that they were run by two different chefs and the dishes were not the same. The Harbor Grill is downstairs and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We went to the Harbor Grill for lunch. The food was good - their seared Ahi poke was THE BEST poke we had in town. It was our first time to have the poke with seared Ahi and it was REALLY tasty. I had the crab cakes as the dish said that it would come with homemade kimchi - the crab cakes were fine but the vegetable on the side was not kimchi. My husband had a grilled fish sandwich, which was also very good. They have about 15 tables with only three people working there during lunch time - the hostess, the waitress, and the chef. As a result, the service is slow. Both places are located on highway 270. Once you get on highway 270, go north for about 5 minutes until you see a two story building on your left and three big white tanks on your right, next to the seaside.

I was lucky enough to eat at the Harbor Grill for breakfast, lunch and dinner during my last Big Island stay and I am happy to report that each meal was as extraordinary and well priced as the next. First was dinner and how amazing it was! I went for Maine Lobster Monday (locally grown Maine lobster, who knew?) and a perfectly broiled entrée with sumptuous and creamy mash potatoes and farm fresh roast vegetables. For Lunch try the Korean Chicken! Oh my god I could eat this everyday from here to eternity; It makes my mouth water just thinking about it! Served with rice and potato salad. I had about everything on the breakfast menu but would highly recommend the Fresh Catch Moco Loco or Orange Blossom French Toast (topped with orange cream cheese spread, yes!). Please try this place out. The staff is stellar and is probably the best deal on the island. You get the same quality food of any resort at 1/2 to 1/4 the price!
(5)Angelo D.
Take-out, Catering, Casual Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner. We've done it all and every time I was blown away. Very friendly staff, fresh and delicious food. I'd say the french toast and fruit are my favorite for breakfast but everyone will find a fantastic dish they love here, be they a tourist or local. Stop by and see what you're missing, the Best Food & Drinks on the Big Island!
(5)Charlie P.
The Harbor Grill was recommended to me by a co-worker who did her undergrad at University of Hawaii, Hilo so I figured it would be excellent. It was not excellent, it was just okay. If you want better seafood on this side of the island go to Pine Tree Cafe just south of the airport.
(3)Jennie M.
I personally enjoyed my breakfast here but I stuck to a bowl of fruit and a cinnamon roll with a side of bacon. The bowl of fruit was freshly cut, good-size portion and really tasty. My cinnamon roll was just what I was craving. My co-diner thought his eggs were too greasy and he got so much bacon with his that my side order was a bit of a waste. The portions are large and the service is efficient. There are only two people working the dining room so don't expect a lot of interaction but you will get everything you need so just be patient.
(3)Patrick D.
We arrived with grand expectations after these glowing reviews. Yes, the view is rather industrial. can't say we were wowed, kinda like my golf game lately - sub par and nothin worth talking about. I ordered the short ribs which were tough and impossible to cut with a fork. Wife's crab crusted fish of the day was better but not worth a return trip. Service was very good.
(2)Alissa G.
We ate at the Harbor Grill for lunch last week and had a positive experience. I had the mahi mahi fish & chips and it was super delicious! Very quick and attentive service as well. Husband had the loco moco and was not too impressed - mostly because it wasn't served in the common plate-lunch style. Still we would certainly go back. I think I would like to try the burger next time.
(4)Bill M.
There are two restaurants here, I think. The Seafood Bar is upstairs. That's the one we hit. Located just north of the HI 270 / HI 19 intersection (head north on 270 rather than east on 19), I had trouble finding this place yesterday, but thanks to my man Tim at the Kona Pool Bar in the Hilton Waikoloa Village, it was easy. The décor is very cool, beachy, tiki bar, Hawaiian casual. There is seating both outdoor and in, but the views outside are sadly limited to mostly the large storage containers, warehouse buildings and a parking lot. The weather is out there though, so we sat outside. The menu is limited, but diverse in options. We had the Coconut Shrimp PuPu. There were 4 large butterflied shrimp, lightly breaded. The Pina Colada dipping sauce was a little too sweet for my taste but I dipped anyway. The wife had the Poke Ahi Tuna Burger. As far as I can tell, this is the best item on the menu. You can stop reading here if you're looking for a recommendation. It was very good. If you need further cajoling to get the burger, the wasabi aioli sauce that is served with the burger does double duty as a spread and a tremendous dip for the fries (substituted for the potato salad). Don't put it all on the burger, save enough for the fries. I had the grilled swordfish special. It was good. It was served on a bed of rice with a side green salad. There was a gravy over top that I could have done without although it wasn't bad. Service was excellent, but rather slow. Ask for Leilani, she is very good.

Have eaten our way down the kona-kohala coast from four seasons to blue dragon, but the Harbor Grill is our favorite. Best ahi poke in town and the pupu steak with onion rings is a happy surprise. Reasonable prices, great people and atmosphere. Locals eat there, so you know its good.
(5)Rick G.
Yay! Favorite place on the island so far. Dave, Leia, Tim and crew are really great people and very very nice. If you are looking for a local style place with great drinks, food and super friendly people be sure to stop by the Seafood Bar. We also had breakfast downstairs on a Sunday morning and found it to be great as well. Try the Paniolo Breakfast with Portugese sausage. Mmmmm.
(5)Francesca m.
This place is one of my favorites when I visit Hawaii. Lots of locals. . Awesome spot for drinks and appetizers or just a casual dinner. Nice too if you want to watch a game on TV. We always have eaten upstairs (I do not think the restuarant downstairs is as good from what I hear). I never EVER eat fried food, but the only exception I make is for their coconut shrimp....BEST I ever had. Everyone at my table always is happy with thier food. Service is consistantly good, cold drinks and cocktails come quickly and they are excellent. I can't wait to go back during my next visit to the Big Island!!
(5)Ken S.
Great atmosphere, wonderful food, and an outside covered deck with a really lousy view of a petroleum tank farm and the harbor, but worth the effort. We were staying in Waikaloa and wanted something different and local. Harbor offers great fish, a well priced happy hour with mai-tais and pupus. On Tuesdays they have a mesquite (kiawe) smoked prime rib that is to die for.

This was recommended to us and after reading some yelp reviews, we weren't sure but went anyway. Our reservations were for the Harbor Grill but we wandered into the Seafood Bar by mistake. It was dark, divey and old. After being redirected, we entered the Harbor Grill. The appearance is funky and old. The service was very friendly. We started with the seared tuna poke. Not my cup of tea. I felt the flavors were lacking and the warm raw tuna a little weird. My husband liked it but I have had better. The hit were the entrees. For the ambiance - $35 per fish entree seemed a little pricey but the flavors were spot on. My husband had the Opah with a chili lime beurre blanc, rice and vegetables. The fish was super fresh, cooked perfectly and the sauce was amazing. I had the mahi Island style - steamed with ginger, green onions and cilantro, finished with hot peanut oil, served with rice and vegetables. Wonderful, flavorful and perfectly done. The wine list is limited but the Spanish Albarino was perfect with the fish.

We were staying at the Orchid and were pretty sick of the resort prices at the restaurants so went looking for an alternative. We'd gone diving in Kawaihae earlier in the day and it was only 15 minutes away so we gave the Harbor Grill a try. It was fantastic. What a relief to find a good restaurant at tolerable prices. Ended up going back twice more during our 10 day stay. Each time, we got the fish specials - Ono, Opah and another one that I can't remember. They were definitely the best meals we had on the island. So happy to have found this place and to have a break from Resortworld. Granted, the ambiance isn't the same as when you are sitting seaside at the Orchid, but for half the price and just as good of a meal, I can't complain.

We ate at the Seafood Bar twice during our trip to the Hapuna Beach/Mauna Kea area. It is just two miles up the road from the resorts and so nice to find a great local place. The food is great-- we love to try calamari and compare the preparations from restaurant to restaurant. The seafood bar has an awesome calamari steak!! It was wonderful. Each time we were there we had the fish special of the day-- once a beautiful mahi-mahi dish and the second time ono. Both were great. We will definitely be back the next time we are on The Big Island.

Bad service..nasty servers. Big time attitude, everyone around us in the place was complaining. Food was just 'eh'

Our family found this little seafood place on the way back from the tip of the big island. The seafood fried rice had lots of fish and shrimp ..yum. My daughter had the saimin and said it was the best. The view stinks. Overlooking a treatment plant is not very great, but you can eat inside and avoid the view.

Interesting location....its on the harbor but right across from a cargo area, so much of the waterfront atmosphere is lost. The interior is pretty nice with a nautical/beach thes=me. We had late evening sandwiches that were pretty good. The grilled chicken club was nicely prepared and full of flavor with good fresh cut fries. The fish sandwich was somewhat disappointing. A fairly small fish fillet on a very average bun with lettuce and tomato left us wanting more. Prices are a bit high ~$15 per sandwich and ~$5 for local beer.

Disappointed! The view was less than mediocre, with power lines and the ass end of Kawaihae Harbor view. Our waitress was impersonal and unfriendly. No aloha. We had the feeling that they wanted to turn tables and get us out as politely as they could. My meal was also mediocre and all prices, i thought were high. I think they figure they could charge the higher prices for "Ocean View" and they are one of the first restaurants you see in Kawaihae. I ordered the Black Bean Seafood Combo. I love black bean chinese style but i'm not sure what influenced this dish. Blah, won't be back.

This is truly the best place we ate while in Hawaii. The seafood dish I ordered is the same dish in the photo. It is in some kind of gravy with a little sweetness (maybe it was coconut. Not sure) LOVE it!

Great calamari, good seared poke, way too many onions in the Thai beef salad, cold mashed potatoes. Lots of dishes seem to involve hollandaise sauce. Oysters were sandy.

We drove up to this restaurant twice during our stay at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. The bar inside is a great place to watch sports and has a good atmosphere. On our second visit we sat outside which is also nice. Service was great on both visits as was the food. I had the swordfish special which was fantastic. Wife, not being a seafood fan, ate the short ribs and she reported they were delicious as well.
