This was my second trip across the island to eat at Ruth's Chris Steak House and hopefully it won't be the last. Like the last time I came, the entire experience from start to finish was incredible. Our group was lucky enough to get the same great waiter (Thomas- such an awesome guy!) as the last time we came. Now, I know that the person serving you your food has no real bearing on the food itself, but I'll be damned if this guy doesn't just make the entire experience that much better. To start out with this time, I ordered a nice pina collada (yay for my first non-virgin drink I've actually gotten to order at a restaurant). As far as I'm concerned, a pina collada is a hard thing to mess up, and this one was no exception. It was great. As for my started dish, I ordered the Louisiana seafood gumbo just like I did the last time I came. I'm all for trying new dishes when I go to restaurants, but this gumbo is just way too amazing to pass up. With what seems to be little shredded up pieces of crab, full little shrimps, and a whole lot of other stuff along with the great authentic gumbo flavor, it's almost up there with the steaks for me. For my main course this time, I opted for a nice big 16oz ribeye steak, as opposed to the 11oz filet that I got last time. The filet was amazing, but this time I wanted an even bigger cut. Man oh man, did I live to NOT regret that decision. The ribeye... it was just so... I can't even. The meat absolutely melts in your mouth. It's meat so tender you almost don't even need a knife to cut it. I was able to poke lightly at it with my fork, and even then it started to sink in. Any description that I could give of this cut of meat would absolutely not do it any justice. It's something you have to taste to understand; it really is. Now, to be completely honest, after the delicious gumbo that I ate every bit of, I struggled to finish the big 16oz steak. However, knowing that it would never be as good if I took it home to eat later, I buckled under and finished every last bite of that thing. And, I must say, I'm glad I did. After my stomach had some time to make a little room, it was about time to order dessert. But, before we could even order anything, my brother and I were surprised by our awesome waiter Thomas with these awesome little complimentary strawberry and chocolate desserts; oh, and they were on fire and it was amazing. Of course, after that we got to have actual desserts, for which I ordered a raspberry sorbet. Arriving in a chilled bowl, the scoop of sorbet was a perfect way to cap off that wonderful meal. Now that I think I've found my favorite cut of beef that they serve at Ruth's Chris, I can confidently say, I NEED to come back soon to enjoy it again. This place never disappoints, from the service to the food, it's truly a 5 star experience. If you can manage it, I strongly urge anyone and everyone to come by Ruth's Chris to try it for themselves!

Outstanding food, awful service. We've eaten at dozens of Ruth's Chris restaurants over the years and this is by far the worst experience we've had from beginning to end. We arrive with a reservation, the attendant greets us, takes our name and walks away with no explanation. Another person comes up and asks if we've been helped and we say that we didn't know. We order our food and drinks and sucked them down, due to being outside in the sun all day. Waitstaff to refill were no where to be found. We finished off our house bread, no refill offered. Our food arrived and we both had empty glasses and our waitress asked if we'd like refills. Yes, our food just arrived and we have nothing to drink, so we waited for over ten minutes for refills, while multiple waitstaff and managers passed us by. Other Ruth's Chris, every time you take a sip, someone is over your shoulder filling your water glass or scraping your breadcrumbs from the table. Not here. You'd get much more attention and service at Chili's. The food was outstanding, with the exception of the baked potato, which was small and plain, similar to what you'd get at Wendy's, but you pay $11 for it here. So, we were disappointed, paid our bill and were headed out the door and the hostess looked at us and went back to playing with her cellphone, not even acknowledging us whatsoever. This was our first time ever having a bad experience with a Ruth's Chris, ever. We won't be back to this location again for sure.

We totally got duped into eating here. It was our first night at Mauna Lani and we didn't realize the restaurants within the hotel closed at 8:30! Ruth's Chris was literally the closest option at that time of night. The prices were outrageous as expected but the quality was not great compared to the Chicago location. We split the poke appetizer (which was excellent) and the t-bone. The t-bone was flavorful but pretty tough. Nothing special for the $60+ charged! We had broccoli and fries as sides. Again nothing special, and the broccoli portion was pretty small. Our desserts were pretty good- chocolate lava cake & Kona Mochaccino ice cream pie.

My husband & I ate here on our last night of our 25th anniversary trip to the big island. We were so happy with our choice. The food was awesome & the service was top notch. Our waitress brought us a strawberry flambae with two glasses of champagne on the house - what a treat!

We came for our 30th anniversary and weren't disappointed! The meal was perfect and my wife was very pleased with the whole experience. Thanks Ruth Chris! We loved the service from Stephanie!

There's no need for a long, well written review of Ruth Chris. It's a large chain that always delivers excellent steak for those willing to pay a premium. We came here because the local food on this island was a disappointment and while a visit here will put a hole in your pocket it's ok to splurge when on vacation. This location succeeds at providing excellent service and top-quality food in an upscale atmosphere where sandals, board shorts and t-shirts are permitted. Basically, if you've been to a Ruth Chris in your hometown -you'll get the same experience here.

The GM here sent me a message asking for my contact info so he could "address" our concerns. Well, it's been 14 days and still no call or email to "address" our horrible service and food. Amazing people can get away with this type of attitude and lack of service! We'll never eat at this location again.

I have been here at least 10 times over the last eight years. You can always count on them getting something wrong. Whether it's the steak temperature or the inattentive service, there's always something that isn't right. What keeps me coming back is, not only the amazing sunset and show that the ownership of the shopping center puts on a couple times a week, but also the fact that whenever they do get it right, it's a worthwhile experience. The guava margarita is fabulous, and the side dishes are excellent. The Kona Mochaccino ice cream pie is unique to Hawaii, and worth getting every time. Should you be fortunate enough to come when Mikey is serving, ask for him. He will never let you down.

Made a reservation at Ruth Chris for Valentine's Day while staying in Waikaloa Village. After a delicious dinner (standard Ruth Chris fare) we asked for a cab home, but it had started raining since we arrived. There were no.cabs.anywhere. The hostess tried for 20 mins to call various cab companies for us, and she tried everything we could think of:calling our hotel, getting tips from locals, persistence, everything! Finally, after 35 mins, the manager gave us a ride home. We could have been sitting there indefinitely, so thankful. Haven't received that attentive of service from a chain restaurant in a long time, and very happy we did. The service at this place saved our Valentine's Night from being awful, and they definitely did not have to. They went above and beyond, and that makes for a memorable night.

Worst Experience!!!!! Recently got engaged and went here to celebrate. I called ahead and made reservations, also mentioning the engagement. We did not get one Congrats from any staff in the Restaurant. I find this disturbing because I chose this place based off of a decent reputation it had. I would say my biggest concern though was the fact that I ordered a medium rare steak and received one 40 minutes later well done and unseasoned. Then lets add the side of Mac and Cheese that you can't bite into because it so hard. I forgot to mention that this meal was some 250 dollars. Huge disappointment! I know there are plenty who have had great experiences here, but I will never be able to come back. I also tried contacting them to tell them about my experience and they have ignored my message. Thank you Ruth Chris, with the exception of Capital Grille I will never eat at another steakhouse chain of anykind

For food in general, it was pretty good. For a Ruth's Chris, it was bad. Been to many Ruth's Chris steakhouses. And this was by far the worst I've ever been to. My stuffed chicken breast was overcooked and dry. The filet we got was very sub par. Very tough for a filet and slightly over cooked. We got a side of au gratin potatoes. When we attempted to scoop them onto our plates, we discovered that, underneath the layer of melted cheese, the potatoes were RAW and COLD. Not undercooked, not "not hot enough". They had NOT BEEN COOKED AT ALL. Those potatoes were literally cut up, thrown into a serving platter and then served to us. What the heck?! We had them replaced and were surprised when the replacement potatoes were actually a little bit undercooked and crunchy. Better than not being cooked at all I guess... When it came time to pay the bill, we were surprised to see the potatoes were not removed. No attempt to make a nice apologetic gesture. Avoid this Ruth's Chris at all costs. All the food was sub par. You will NOT get a Ruth's Chris experience here.
I found the staff very attentive and helpful. I liked the personalized service - they ask your name when you get in and pass it on to your waiter. The space is very nice and everyone seemed seated in such a way to ensure privacy and an intimate meal. I was disappointed in the quality of the ingredients. Our cesar salad used romaine lettuce that wasn't very fresh and even brown in some areas. My impression was that they shipped not just their steak in but maybe all their ingredients. If that is true, seems like maybe they should take advantage of some of the fresher ingredients they could get from Waimea. Bread pudding was delicious. Also got the banana cream pie which wasn't too sweet.

Be willing to spend the money here, but know that you will go home satisfied! Most dishes are ala carte, but this is a classic steak house. Tempature of meats are perfect or close to. Cuts of beef are spot on. Service is classy. Well dressed, good etiquette, prompt service, good timing in the services as well. I also love to swing by for happy hour! Bartenders are a class act!!! Drinks are never empty and delicious!!!! Ron can shake a margarita like you've never seen!! Blue cheese crust on filet' Wedge salad Wine list is well appointed! Never a bad night or experience!!

Came to the Big Island for my birthday weekend and found a great happy hour at Ruth's! The bartenders (Hilary and Katie) were so amazing and friendly, the food was delicious, and the drinks were fantastic. We ordered the mushrooms stuffed with crab meat, grilled shrimp, prime rib sliders, and seared ahi. I would recommend each dish, especially the sliders with au jus. The service was impeccable. The bartenders made sure our waters and drinks were never empty, all of our silverware and dishes were promptly placed and taken away, and made us smile the entire time. Highly recommend A+++++

We had a very nice dinner here. We ordered two delicious T-bones and a chocolate cake to share. The food was great and the service was great. It was on a Monday, so a hula-show was happening below the terrace where we ate - very cozy. Definitely one of our best nights in this area.

We came here for my 30th birthday and I couldn't have been more pleased. The food was amazing as usual! The service was on point. We enjoyed steak (of course), lobster gumbo, and crab cakes. The crab cakes were ok, but everything else made up for it. Can't wait to come back when we return to the island!
I would give this place 5 stars for the quality of the food, but I'm giving it 4 because of the service. The hostess was a snob, and had a bad attitude. Our server seemed very frazzled and rushed. The food though, WOW!! Incredible! I got the petite filet, and my husband got the NY Strip. Both of us had clean plates! The steak melts in your mouth. We shared a side, Au Gratin Potatoes, which were tasty as well! The steak is the main event though. The concept of the plate being 500 degrees is neat and all but by the time I was getting to the end of my steak it was no longer cooked medium how I wanted it and was nearing well done.

I'm fed up with Morton's so I figured while here in Hawaii I'd give Ruth's a shot. Our order was simple, two (2) Cowboy bone-in rib eyes, baked potato, cream spinach. The steaks were slightly under cooked (I ordered medium rare, these came with a raw center), the steak was about 30% fat after cooking, that was not good at all and I question the quality! The baked potato advertised as a one pound potato was nothing more than average sized (do they mean with all the crap they stuff it with equals a pound?) I asked for that on the side fortunately! The creamed spinach tasted like it was from a package and not a very good package at that. One glass of wine for the wife and a check for $155.21 All in all there is a lesson to be learned here....Don't go to chain-store steak houses, go to Sparks or Peter Luger in New York, or another place like that in your town. btw: The service was adequate not outstanding, but hey! I'm here for the steak not the service.

We had two bone in ribeye's and one regular the meat wasn't really tender and one over cooked! The au gratin potatoes were not cooked had to send them back! To add to the situation, the manager came back with the re-cooked dish, and left it with the comment of "and here are the well done au gratin potatoes"... As if to imply that we did not know the difference between under cooked and well done potatoes. Lobster was over cooked and dry.... Lobster should not be chewy. I asked for a rare ribeye. The other steaks at the table came out rare, although they were not ordered so. When I sent mine back, I was told that it is how 'they' do rare... When I asked if their rare came with a cool center (as even Outback can deliver for $14.99) I was told 'Of course! Check the center' When I said "No, YOU check the center" and she quickly pulled her finger back, I knew she understood that it wasn't a 'cool red center'. I think for the money they charge, they should be able to pay for more experienced cooks and managers.

When I'm traveling to other areas outside of the greater Los Angeles area, I usually try to go and sample the local fare. However, on the Big Island (Hawaii), there aren't many choices for a good steak. Since I know the quality of Ruth's Chris, I decided to make a reservation here. Unlike the RC in Beverly Hills, the atmosphere here is MUCH different and its a good thing! It is probably due to the island's pace of life and it is really nice. You don't feel rushed and it even makes for a more romantic dinner. Anyways, when we were seated, we sat outside on the balcony while watching a hula/fire dance show. It was fantastic! I had a rib eye while my girlfriend had a filet. In addition, we had a couple of sides. Along with a couple of glasses of wine, it made for a wonderful dinner. If you're in the Kohala area of the Big Island and would like a nice dinner, I would recommend coming here. I doubt you'll be disappointed!

Visiting Hawaii with my 3 friends, this is my first visit to Ruth's Chris steakhouse. In everyday life I do not eat steak per se, but my friends love this restaurant and knowing all good places offer chicken and fish I was game. It was amazing! This is a place to dress up and dine so leave your flip flops in your hotel room and put on your Tommy Bahama flower dress or Hawaiian shirt. Our server was Katie-Belle and she was perfect for my style: attentive and friendly without being overly in our business. The food was so amazing. We had quite a variety too: I had the stuffed chicken which was the best chicken I've ever eaten in my whole life. Yes, my whole life. One of us had the ribeye and he said it was en point with one of his favorite Vegas steakhouses Del Friscos. Definatly try the grilled mushroom side and the steamed aspargus as well. All the portions here are very generous, which is great. With 4 people we were easily able to share many of the sides and appetizers with food left over. We had dessert too and my choice was the lava cake. It's warmed up and so scrumptious that I was almost sad I was sharing. Overall I had a great time and on another trip to The Big Island would be more than happy to take someone here again.

We've eaten at Ruth's Chris plenty of times over the years, mostly all very great experiences. Boy did these folks have a bad night. Very disappointing experience. Our waiter gave us the description of the special fish plate of the day, however, we were served something completely different. After waiting nearly 10 minutes without anyone checking on us we decided to eat the fish served. Our waiter never came back to check on us until we were finished. We only ate half of the dish. The fish was dry and just wasn't very good. When we told our waiter he simply said sorry but didn't offer to make any concessions. We chalked up $220 worth of dinner and a really bad experience. We won't go back to this location.

We have never been to a Ruth's Chris steak house. The staff was wonderful and helpful and attentive to refilling our water glass and checking in with us at just the right time. Joe, the manager, stopped by and was great to talk to about the history of the steak house and a few tips about the island. The Cesar salads were delicious. We both got the ribeye steaks. They were grilled to perfection. We got the mashed potatoes and mushroom side dishes and they were nothing special. We had the bread pudding desert and it was excellent. The restaurant setting is beautiful and overlooks a water fountain play area that periodically shoots water to the music. It was a Blast to watch the joy of the little kids playing.

Wow. Laid back and exquisite wrapped into one. From the escargot to the petite filet and fully loaded one pound potato, our outdoor patio experience was delicious. We also found Paso's Mountain Zin on menu which was very fun. The only reason we're not at 5 stars, is because of the spendy check: just under $300 for three, and that's without dessert and with one wine bottle at 25% off.

This is an update to my last report about Ruth's Chris Steak House. The next day, I was looking over the receipt for the absolutely lousy excuse for a dinner I experienced at Ruth's Chris Steak House. Come to find out, they charged my credit card for the dinner - but I left $500 cash in the check folio that was intended for payment. So I called the management of the place, and he said that the waiter received a $100 cash tip. So what has happened is, the waiter STOLE the $500, claiming that I left him a $100 tip. He pocketed the $400 cash (all new $100 bills), told the manager that I left him a $100 tip, and then charged my credit card for the entire amount. Today, I am taking the Police Department over to the Steak House, and we are going to file a complaint and get a police report. I will also be suing the waiter in court for the $400, if he doesn't cough up the money tonight with the police officer there. I'll will keep this spot updated as I progress. THEFT AT RUTH's !

Once again an excellent dinner. We had to be firm about getting a booth, which was much quieter and intimate for our party of four. Service was as expected, prompt and precise; I'm embarrassed to say that two weeks later I cannot recall his name.... Doug or Greg? At any rate he delivered a first class evening for which we were grateful. My mother in law loved this restaurant, and she had passed away recently, so we were celebrating her life in a way she would have appreciated, and our waiter brought an extra glass for her champagne; a touching gesture that was greatly appreciated. We feel lucky to have Ruth's Chris on the Big Island!
Who eats at Ruth's Chris during a trip to Hawaii?? We do! We researched luaus and I found out about the free show for Te 'E'a O Te Turama Hula Halau that they hold at the Mauna Lani shopping area every Monday and Thursday. The reviews were good and we checked out the shopping area to see what the possible views were like. Ruth's Chris is right in front of the stage and they have balcony seating that overlooks it. We made reservations for 6pm and requested balcony seating. The seats they gave us were right up against the railing so we had the most perfect, unobstructed view. We also made it in time for their Prime Time 3 course meal menu. My husband and I shared a rib eye (and they didn't even charge us extra for splitting one course). It was DELICIOUS! Perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. As a tip, their steaks are served on 500 degree plates, so the steak does cook while you're eating, so order accordingly or else you might end up eating an overcooked steak. We also upgraded dessert to the chocolate lava cake. All in all, total cost of our meal would have been the price of one luau ticket. But my husband had several drinks that night that brought our check up. Fantastic food, fantastic view, fantastic show = a GREAT night!

Ate here after a day at the beach because there really weren't a lot of other options other than at the hotel. Steak is not my first choice, however everything here was outstanding. I had the shrimp cocktail which was chilled jumbo shrimp, creole remoulade sauce, and new orleans style shrimp. I ordered the 8 oz petite filet which was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. We also had garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. We did not make it to dessert!

Met friends for happy hour and a light meal consisting of prime rib sliders and a shrimp appetizer with one drink each. $60 plus tip. Little pricey for what we got especially for Happy Hour.

This kills me to leave Ruth's Chris steakhouse with a review under at least 5 stars but the time has come. They didn't look overly busy and there were plenty of tables open. We had reservations at 6pm and was seated promptly so that was nice but after we were seated we were waiting at least 10 minutes before even getting our drink order taken. Then service just went downhill from there. Our server was Dan and multiple times we had to ask other servers to get him for us. I am from California so maybe service is just different in San Francisco than it is here but it was terrible here in Hawaii. I would probably go back but hope for better service in the future.

We came here on 4/15 after our disaster at the Kona Inn. I ordered a Ribeye. We also ordered carpaccio and lettuce wedges for appetizers. They gave us a special treat since this was our wedding/honeymoon, strawberries covered with chocolate and rum sauce lit on fire! The food was great, service was excellent, and we can't wait to go back!

Called ahead to set-up a special meal. Was told by someone claiming to be the manager that they had set everything up with the chef. We asked what time the place would not be busy, so we could make sure our special requests didn't cause problems with the kitchen. They told us when to show up. We show up, they didn't have any notes for our special requests. Our waitress took over 10 minutes to check in with us about drinks. She didn't know anything about our special requests. She said "the kitchen is super slammed, I don't know if they can do this for you. Besides the executive chef is off tonight." We asked for her to send out the sous chef, who immediately took care of everything we had arranged the day before. We're now 20 minutes into our seating. We didn't end up ordering for almost 30 minutes, and when the food arrived, my wife's steak (a supposedly USDA Prime Filet) was tough and my sides were cold. To the Waitresses credit, she tried her best to fill in the gaps created by her team. But, when you expect to pay $100/person for a nice meal with great service, you expect both great food, and great service. We got OK service, and 'meh food. They failed to come close to the expectations they set with their reputation, and their commitments via the telephone. We'll try them again next trip, but I'm wary...

Hot bread with whipped butter-yum. Got the early bird special for $55 it included a choice of main dishes, one side order, a salad, and dessert. We got the 16 oz ribeye, Caesar salad, creamed spinach, and local tropical dreams chocolate brownie ice cream for dessert. The bartenders were friendly so we ended up eating at the bar. We also got the crab stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer. All the food was of the same quality that I usually get at Ruth Chris. I liked that the bartender thanked us for choosing their restaurant among others.

I was fairly disappointed by this meal as was my boyfriend. I had expected RC to be on par with the great steakhouses like the Seattle Metropolitan Grill, but unfortunately, it is just overpriced and lacking in service. For appetizers we had the seared ahi tuna and a Caesar salad. The Ahi was overpowered by a sharp strong mustard sauce, and the Caesar salad dressing tasted like it was poured from a bottle - neither garlic or anchovy was detectable. We chose to share the 20 ounce Tbone. The steak was delicious and perfectly cooked, however we were surprised when our server plunked the entire steak in front of my boyfriend and then handed me a very small "share plate." I've never had that happen at a steak house before. I've always had it halved in the kitchen or table side. We had also ordered the pecan sweet potato casserole as a side, which is supposed to have some sugar added, but this casserole was saturated with sweetness. All told, two appetizers, a shared steak, two cocktails (no wine) and three sides (the casserole, corn and steamed white rice) came to just under $200 including tip. A meal like this should be sublime, not hit or miss with each item. One last note - we asked our server at the beginning of our order if the prawns were from Hawaii. All he said was "no" without elaborating, making us suspect they must be frozen and/or farmed. A restaurant with this type of reputation and pricing should have servers that are passionate about the food they are serving - they shouldn't be reticent! We won't be going back to any RC restaurants. There are too many restaurants and too little time to risk a repeat of this meal again.

Arrived and the host had our reservation after using open table. We where waiting for 20 min to take our order before our waterers came back. When we finally got our food my steak was over cooked and my spinage was Luke warm. My grandma had the fis and was still hungery after doto the lack of fish on the plate, there was mostly bone and fish parts. She also felt sick after like the fish was bad.

I've eaten at several RCs in California (LA and OC) many, many times because this is THE restaurant to go to for steaks. (MUCH better than Morton's in my opinion.) So when we were in Kona, we had to try out the RC there. We went to Kona for a golf tournament so there were 12 people in our party dining that night. Everyone ordered a different dish and NO ONE was disappointed. I think this is quite impressive and speaks volumes for RC's food. Because with that many people, there is bound to be at least one who did not like their dish. This was not the case for us. I ordered the veal entree (bone-in) and it was the absolute best veal I've ever tasted!! So flavorful and tender. Definitely order the island sweet corn side dish if you're going to dine here. We ordered several of them and they were devoured within minutes!!

Ya it's a chain restaurant, and it took me having been in Hawaii to finally try it out when I've passed them a countless amount of times here on the mainland. My family and I however are frequent customers of Fleming's and Lawry's...we like steak. My moms old fashion, and called to make our reservations. She called around 11am and left a message because they weren't open yet, but they called her back and we made our reservations for 5:30pm that night. Great! Got there a few minutes before, and they were able to seat us right away, wasn't that busy at all. We decided to eat outside cuz it was cooler out there, then it was inside. There weren't too many people inside, but actually more outside, and I saw there was more flow in waiter/service responsiveness outside were the people were. The hostess was very nice, and a great conversationalist, asking how our trip was going, how we were enjoying ourselves etc (I personally like this, and it's not like she just wants to seat us, and forget us). James was our waiter, and was very good at recommending items (although we already knew we were going with the 3 course set Prime Time menu from 5-6pm), Sonny delivered our calamari appetizer, and our salads was very nice and gracious, and Jasmine was awesome...she kept our drinks flowing and chatted to us about the island. Be sure to bring in the local travelers guide magazine for the free appetizer(up to a $15 value)...we used it for the calamari which was $18, so only had to pay $3 for it. It was good, came with a traditional cocktail sauce and a sweet asian chili sauce...the sauces were good, the asian sauce is exactly like Gladstone's (another seafood restaurant chain) asian sweet chili sauce they also serve with calamari....wonder if they are owned by the same people? Anyway, for $3 the calamari was good, but think I'd skip it we didn't have the coupon. Me and my dad both got the Prime Time 16 oz. Ribeye special for $52 each. For that price we got a choice of salad, I got caesar, my dad got the steakhouse salad with ranch, both good average quality not horribly in anyway. We both ordered medium-rare and my dad liked it, but thought mine was slightly over cooked and wasn't as pink as I'd like it.....still flavorful none the less. I got sauteed mushrooms as my side, and my dad got the creamed spinach..I loved the mushrooms but the spinach was awful IMO....just super different then every other creamed spinach I'd ever had, and just didn't seem fresh. My mom just got a steakhouse salad, and a loaded (butter, cheese, bacon, sour cream, chives) baked potato, was good...which we shared along with the other sides. They also gave my mom a hot plate with the butter/seasonings as well, and my mom and I actually sort of split my steal because it was pretty big. Then with the preset menu my dad got the whiskey bread pudding, he and my mom liked it...I didn't try it cuz I don't like raisins. I payed the extra $4.95 to get the chocolate lava cake which was not on the pre-set menu, and that was pretty good...reminded me of the kinda lava cakes you can buy at the grocery store and heat up our self, but it tasted good with the berries, cream sauce and ice cream (possibly vanilla bean?) that they added along side it...good but I wouldn't have paid the full $12 for it. Over all yes...it is a chain restaurant and has it's food flaws...I believe it is over priced for this, however with the Prime Time special, along with the (almost) free appetizer I did save money........total bill for 3 people was $212 including the tip (expensive!!!) I would probably go back (not all the way to this one in hawaii, but at least I know what to expect on the mainland)...but only for some special occasion, maybe. I believe the prices could definitely be lower, for the quality..not exactly up to par with Fleming's or another equivalent steakhouse of that caliber.......If it wasn't for the free show from the top of the balcony which was very cool, the overall great time at dinner, and the excellent service...I would have easily given a lower 3 stars.

Butter, butter on everything. Even the delicious pink snapper was swimming in a pool of butter. Mashed potatoes were more butter than potatoes. They need to learn to cook so you can taste the food and not just butter

One of the best dining experiences, hands down! I love a good ribeye steak! Welcomed by a host and hostess. I had not told my boyfriend that I let them know it was his birthday and he was quite surprised when they greeted him with a "Happy Birthday". Thoughtful gesture of the host and hostess. We sat in a booth table and was served by Rayce(?) he is local guy so that made it even more comfortable for us. He was attentive and his timing of courses were on point! I had a glass of Pinot Grigio and my boyfriend had a Mojito. They had an extensive wine menu and their bar was beautiful! We also had the crab mushroom appetizer, which was so flavorful. Both of our entrees were Ribeye Steak (MR) with a baked potato. I swear, that was the BEST steak I have had in my entire life (Also speaking on my boyfriends behalf). The seasoning on it was just right and it was cooked to perfection. By the time we finished our entrees, there was no room for dessert. Rayce(?) insisted we take something home for my boyfriend since it was his birthday. I spent money$$$ but it was wellll well well worth the splurge for the quality of the ENTIRE meal and service. It was so good we went back three months later for my birthday, his treat this time :)

This is our favorite location for a good steak! The large filet cooked medium rare is the best. They have a great dinner deal between 5:00pm - 6:00pm only, starter (soup or salad), entree with a side and a dessert included.

Ruth's Chris never disappoints. Even in the middle of the Pacific, they can get it just right. They were even able to accommodate two strict vegetarian with partly off-the-menu items -- salads, grilled/steamed veggies, baked potatoes, etc. The waiter we got was also great -- Scottie. Enjoy.

I have been looking at the photo of the filet in their newspaper ad for years and finally decided to eat at Ruth's Chris. The steak was prepared to perfection just how I ordered it and the hot plate it was served on kept the meat warm until the last bite. The service was also fantastic, but the price was just too hard to swallow. My dad can prepare a filet that's almost as good or just as good as Ruth's for a fraction of the cost. We took advantage of the early bird special and it was still not worth the price. Our bill was $123 for two people with no drinks or extras- before the tip! I was also not impressed with the mashed potatoes, which were prepared with way too much butter, and my husband found the butter on the plate with his ribeye unnecessary. It made for quite a fatty meal. Overall it was a great experience, once. With these prices we will never be back.

Great service. I was a bit disappointed as I thought the food wasn't as good as usual. We literally went to RC in the mainland two weeks prior and had an amazing meal. I thought the steak was a bit bland and that the sides were just okay.

I don't think there is too much to say about Ruth's Chris steakhouse that hasn't been said already. The steaks are good (and pricey) and you have to order sides a la carte (also pricey). Maybe I'm old fashioned, or cheap, or both, but I much prefer to have the sides on my plate with the steak as opposed to just having a lonely expensive searing hot piece of beef all alone on a plate looking at me. Accommodating a gluten allergy is no problem especially since there aren't all that many options to choose from and everything is a la carte. The restaurant was located in a high-end mall right near the Waikoloa resorts - very convenient. We also found a coupon for a free appetizer in one of those countless tourist brochures that you find everywhere at the airport. 3 lonely scallops are much better for free than they would be for $14.50.

I and my girl posse were in the area doing a 'spa day' / overnight trip and decided to hit Ruth's Chris for dinner. We were aiming to get there in time for the early bird special then decided it wasn't worth the stress. One posse member had Costco gift cards which offer a 20% discount. We started with wine and escargot. OK. I don't know when it became fashionable to slather the tray with cheese, but I'm not diggin' the trend. Except for the cheese, which I clearly don't like, the escargot was good. They either have a good supplier or someone who knows how to clean the buggers (maybe both). The petite fillet was fantabulous. We shared a side of creamed spinach. The waiter was a little on the snarky side, but we didn't let it ruin our dining experience. This is a high end chain restaurant. They sell a great product. They charge accordingly.

Amazing food. Ate the filet and it was delicious. Downer= high prices but totally worth it.
Great service and good food. Parking wasn't an issue. Used the Open Table feature and had multiple choices at short notice. Had a short wait at the Maitre D' station due to a few parties requiring some help with the rest of the staff but were seated in a nice quiet corner booth. The staff was very attentive while not being over-bearing, checking at regular intervals for drinks and food quality. Steaks (petite filets) were done perfectly to order. Crab cakes were a little bland, which was surprising, but they were ok. Just not much seasoning to make it interesting enough for a repeat. For a splurge steak experience, we'd definitely return to this location.

We were told this location of Ruth Chris had a good bar menu and it didn't disappoint. We came here twice during our stay. Between the two visits, we had Caesar salad , the prime rib sliders, seared Ahi, stuffed mushrooms and 1/2 rack of lamb. The lamb was so good, done with a berry based reduction sauce, we each had one order to ourselves when we came back the second time. All of the bar menu items are done with high quality ingredients as you would expect from Ruth Chris. Makes for a very happy, Happy Hour!

Boring steak house... the epitome of a chain restaurant. If you like the Ruth Chris steakhouses on the mainland, then you will like this one. If you hate them, expect nothing different here. Ruth Chris formula: steak with a pat of butter, flash broiled. While the quality of the meat is good, almost everything else is boring... including the sides. You are in Hawaii... you can do better than this... they would do well if they made the place more Hawaiian... embrace the local dishes... fight corporate and do something special!

Second time dining @ Ruth Chris on the Big Isle: Service excellent, quality of food excellent, prep of food excellent. Ask for Thomas for your waiter. Best Tahitian vanilla ice cream I've ever had. Worth dining here.

It's much as you would expect from a chain steak house, but the food is really quite good. Conveniently located in the Mauna Lani shops area. Plenty of food. I recommend sharing a steak between two people because it's simply gonna be a large slab of meat for one.

I have been to many different Ruth's Chris locations but this one is my favorite by far. Of course the setting is one of a kind but my meal has been amazing every time I go. If the weather looks nice ask to sit on the patio area for sure. If you get there between 5pm and 6pm they have a $39.95-$49.95 3 course price fixe menu.

This is the place for Happy Hour!! The prime rib sliders are just so good. Homemade potato chips, oh yeah. We also had the chopped salad. Sit on the outside portion of the bar area and enjoy the breeze. Some additional craft beer selections on tap would be great, but wine list is superb. You can eat great small plates for the price if one of the steaks!! Super casual, Love it!!

Read menu on Internet and planned our order. Menu had lobster from main and bisque. That was no longer on the menu. Our steak was full of gristle. We complained about the menu change with the manager and nothing was done to appease us. Costco offers better quality meat. I hope they overcome the tourist he will not be back attitude and take care of the customer.

OMG - fabulous! We have been to so many Ruth's Chris locations over the years and always have a great meal... But this one was over the top. The veal ravioli appetizer was to die for, the Caesar salad was crisp and flavorful, the fish special (pink snapper) prepared Japanese style was one of the best fish dishes we've had in recent memory, the filet was sooooo tender - like butter, and the t-bone was perfect. We had the roasted island corn (ah-may-zing!) and cheesy potatoes (always decadent and worth every calorie). To top it all off, the service was excellent. Scotty, our waiter, is a local who shared great stories and provided superb service.

Reliably great steaks and service in an upscale setting. You pay for all of this but if you feel like splurging it's a good choice.

So good! We had to come a second time in one week - our servers were great - big shout out to Lisa and Noah! Chocolate Lava Cake is to die for. Steak = perfection. Potatoes = perfection.

Great service and entrees. We went with a big group so ordered everything! The calamari was over cooked, but otherwise everything else was delish! Recommend the steaks, and seafood. And the sides were an extra bonus!

Being located within the Mauna Lani premises which is one of the nicest resorts in all of Hawaii, Ruths Chris sits in the shopping mall which creates a real nice ambience as you walk through there. I went to the one in downtown SF the first time and really enjoyed the experience there. Being served steak sizzling with tasty sides. However when we saw on Sundays there was the 3 Course special, we thought it would be a good opportunity to try. The sign outside didn't say anything about the time the special was over (ex. 5-7p). We went on a sunday night to find that the special was already over for the night. I was disappointed any felt conned by the fact they didn't state what time it was over by. Perhaps this affected the taste of the food but I didn't find it to be as good as before. I would much rather go to a different establishment like Forbes Mill. This experience doesn't mean I would never go there, but be weary of this on Sundays.

I would not put Ruth's Chris into the category of "Chain Steakhouse". I'd say it's more of a Steakhouse with multiple locations. Ruth's Chris is not some "slab of meat" joint like Black Angus or The Sizzler. It get's 5 outta 5 from me. The steak I had was exceptional. It is ranked 3rd of all time best steaks I have ever had. It was the Cowboy Ribeye, rare, with a side of mashed potatoes and barbecued shrimp. They serve their steaks on a 500º degree plates so it continues to cook throughout your meal. So you start with a rare, and end with medium. There's point you reach when eating a good steak turns into an orgasmic, steak eating experience. I call it the triangle. It's the part of the steak where you've cut yourself a little three sided chunk of steak, vacant of any grizzle or fat. All you get on your fork is a juicy bite that you'll want to chew forever. Once I hit that point, my vacation felt fulfilled. Nothing existed at that point. As for the location, dress code, etc... you're in Hawaii. The surroundings are amazing everywhere you look. I came in shorts and a t-shirt. They best not expect me to be sporting fancy gear on an island!

Food was top notch. Exactly what I have come to expect from Ruth Chris Steakhouses all over the country. Service was lacking for a restaurant of this caliber and price point. I frequent the Ruth Chris restaurants, and have become accustomed to a certain level of accommodation. I shouldn't have to wait till my drink has been empty for 10-15 minutes to be asked if I want a refill. I really shouldn't have to hunt around or leave the table to have to flag someone down to order a drink or dessert or ask for the check. Again, the food was phenomenal and exceeded my expectations. The service, while not horrible by any means, just didn't wow me. Although, of all the places I've travelled, the service collectively at all the restaurants I've tried has been THE WORST on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Ordered their "sizzilin special" which give you a choice of 3 menu items and desert. I ordered Salad, Petite Filet, Mashed Potato, Mushrooms, and Bread Pudding. The salad was swimming in dressing which I don't personally desire. The filet was cooked perfect but the flavor was not on par with some of the other high end steak houses I have enjoyed. In fact, I would prefer a nice Filet from Costco over the cut I was served. My wife had the same thing and agreed with this statement. Perhaps it was the seasoning (or lack thereof) since the meat was tender and juicy, just lacking some flavor. The mashed potatoes seemed like it was made from a box of freeze dried mix and contained no texture nor any flavor. I can state these were the worst mashed potatoes I have ever been served. The mushrooms were OK, not as good as others I have been served and I would rate these as acceptable. Both my wife and I also had the bread pudding and the desert was quite good with one exception. The pudding was swimming (literally in a bowl) of sugar frosting sauce. This glaze was so overpowering that it took away from the bread pudding. We both removed the pudding from the sauce and enjoyed the desert without the sauce. All in all, I would not rate this as an exceptional dinner from a high end restaurant. The special was a great deal and the food was enjoyable but not something I would rate as a memorable meal. PS- The service and ambiance of the restaurant were up to high standards.

When my family goes to Hawaii we always go here. The steaks here are some of the best I've ever had, and the portions are huge. The restaurant has a nice seating arrangement, with the outdoor seats looking over the entire plaza. If you plan on eating here though, you need to be aware of two things: reservations are a must (unless you plan on eating at the bar), and the food is very pricey. Even though the place is expensive, it is definitely worth going to at least once.
Fantastic food, fabulous service, wonderful atmosphere. Noah was our excellent waiter. Thanks for a great evening here in paradise!

Comes with all of the fabulous meals any other Ruth's Chris delivers but the bartender single handedly brought the experience down to three stars. We were told that although we had a reservation there would be a short wait. Not a problem! We are in Hawaii! So we cozy up to two spots at the bar and there were met by the most unfriendly bartender you might meet in a big city. Not sure what is his issue was but he grunted his way into getting us a couple of drinks and it was clear he was in no way pleased to do so. So at least I THOUGHT I was in Hawaii. Thankfully, our table was immediately ready so we transfered our drinks to our table. Once there we got the service one would expect from this chain and our server Jason saved the night.

My Husband and I celebrated our 19th Anniversary in Hawaii, and we decided to try Ruth Chris Steakhouse. We made reservation's, we were about 15 minutes late, no problem, they had our table waiting by the window as I requested, great customer service from the time we walked in till the time we left, the service is excellent I must admit. However, the food isnt as great as I thought it would be, considering the price of the beef alone, I would expect a better cut of beef and better taste, it wasnt great. I read alot of reviews and maybe my expectations we're a little to high, but, when you pay over $200.00 for two people to eat, a salad, a ribeye and potatoes, with no desert, I would think the beef would be outstanding, but it wasnt, infact I was disappointed, my steak had alot of gristle, now I like marbling in my beef, but not thick hard gristle, which is what it had. My suggestion, if you want a good steak meal, head over to Hapuna Prince Resort and try the Coast Grill for half the price. Save your money for something fun.

pretty standard - ruth chris on the island. since there aren't many options around the area, ruth chris would be a good place to dine. we ordered late and they screwed up our order (as a result?). we tried allen's table and it was a much better experience, local and tasty. venture out if you have a car... if not and you don't want to get some foodland, you'll be okay here.

After seeing this soooo many times in the airline magazines, I was so excited to finally try one. I had the petite filet, topped with blue cheese - yummmm. And be careful about the sides - I thought they would come on the plate, but they come separately, so I think we would've done better just ordering a couple to share with the table - we had a lot leftover. Ok, so this place is expensive, but you only live once!! Enjoy!

One of our family's favorite restaurants during a week on the Big Island! Every mouthful was a delight. The filet mignon was the best I've ever had: tender, juicy, flavorful, and with a perfect crust. The sweet potato casserole was to die for. Excellent, attentive service. A wonderful treat!

What a shocker... Wife and 2 kids wanted to finish off our 4 day retreat with steak dinner from RC and it was almost completely lousy Good parts: - salads - ravioli - fillet Terrible: - ribeye - mashed potatoes Ravioli came first, good. Both the house and cesar salads were good. Wife got the fillet it was good. She enjoyed the mushrooms on the side. I had such a bad ribeye it brought my 4 star experience to 1. I have never experienced such a grizzly mess. This is not marbled meat, totally a junk cut. Tasted terrible, not like aged meat. My complaint netted me a 20 coupon. What a joke. Now I got to spend more at RC? Doubt it. Where's the manager? And.... wheres the waiter? We got 2 young kids and after you take our dinner plates we don't need 30 minutes to decide dessert. Shocker.

i knew it would be phenomenal as usual, but this time it was even better- we did the 3 course early bird special, which is about $42-$52 per person depending on your selections. for starters we tried the ceasar salad and seafood gumbo, which was good. We selected garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach for our sides- delicious, but it was overlooked because we were focused on our main courses. my ribeye was flavorful and tender and cooked to perfection as usual. I also tried veal for the first time, it was an amazing melt-in-your mouth savory experience. We did a bottle of Simi Cabernet Sauvignon and it complemented our meal nicely. The one thing i would skip here is their dessert, we had bread pudding with whiskey sauce and a lava cake that looks like it came out of a box, nothing impressive. Our friendly and knowledgeable server Thomas had impeccable timing and was not overbearing at all, which made our dining experience so enjoyable that I'm excited to return again.

After a previous bad experience at a Ruth's Chris Steak House in Michigan, I was skeptical to try this location out. I was so glad we did. We walked in at 7pm without a reservation and was seated within 5 minutes of our arrival. We were hoping the outdoor seating had an ocean view, but it didn't so we opted for the indoor seating. Our server, Thomas, was friendly, entertained all our questions and knowledgeable about the wine and food menu. We settled on oysters Rockefeller and scallops for appetizers: We were amazed and awed with the presentation of the oysters. We had never seen them set ablaze before. There were 5 large clams were set on a bed of course sea salt. After the flames died down we dove into the clams and enjoyed each delectable morsel...some of us more so than the others. The clam lovers among us loved it. As for me (not much of a clam lover), I enjoyed one tasty clam covered in spinach and coated with cheese. It helped to cover the texture of the clam. For our main course we had the ribeye, crab cake entree and the cowboy ribeye. My girlfriend and I split a 16oz ribeye and the 3 crab cakes. It was definitely enough for us. All three men in our party ordered the cowboy ribeye (22 oz with the bone inn) medium rare with extra sizzling butter. We all shared the sides of asparagus, creamed spinach, sweet potato crusted with pecans and island corn The ribeye was juicy and tender. The bluecrab crab cakes, were a lightly salty for me, but delicious. TI paired my meal with a glass of Prisoner red wine (a wine composed of several different red wines). It was perfect match for my meal, but at $19/glass, I won't do it again. The cowboy ribeyes were also cooked to perfection, juicy and more than enough for one person. They almost melted in my mouth and definitely had me yearning for more. The creamed spinach was creamy and smooth, the island corn was sweet, crisp and delicious (but it was $9 for the side, I would skip it next time). I devoured almost the whole side dish of the sweet potato crusted with pecans. It was sweet, smooth and creamy. That mixed with the texture of the candied pecans made it worth the money and all the extra calories. We were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary and Thomas brought us a tasty, beautifully presented, decadent dessert. It was a chocolate lava cake accented with 2 strawberries and a side of I don't know what it was, but it complimented it wonderfully. He also brought us each a glass of Kava. I had never tried it before, but it was like a white wine, but with more body and sweeter than most whites.

Go early to have an amazing meal at a fairly reasonable price (for a steakhouse, and for the Kona area). My hubby and I took advantage of the Primetime Dining Specials, which are available from 5 to 6pm (Hawaii locations--not sure about the others). We each had a salad, enormous ribeye (I would've ordered a different cut if I had known how big it was), one side dish, and dessert for $47. That's the best fine dining deal to be had in the area, and one of the best meals we've had, too! They have other choices that come in under $40 (petit filet, etc). Everything was delicious. Ambience was nice, albeit not unique. Service was very attentive, though our waiter (nice Canadian gentleman) was laying on the charm pretty thick. This was my first time at a Ruth's Chris. I was very impressed, and will definitely go back next time we're in Hawaii.

Meh! I have had better steak. The waiter kept filling up the men's wine and skipping me (the only woman at the table drinking wine). Side dishes are an extra charge. Lame.

Another phenomenal Ruth's Chris. The location is easy to get to, but by car not by walking. Service and waitstaff were very attentive, and of course the food was perfection! We had the filet and the ribs, they were bother wonderful. Wine list is sensational, better than any other island hotel. Desserts were delicious, especially the apple pie. Can't recommend this restaurant enough.
(5)

Wow! What a huge disappointment! "Service" was practically nonexistent! I guess the economy is such that bread, water, a refill on iced tea, silverware, and any semblance of service is gone, even from an "upscale" restaurant. Pair terrible service with an $89 Porterhouse that was half fat and you have a really crappy, expensive dining experience. Never again!

The best steakhouse in Hawaii. Period. Check out the bargain early bird specials.
(5)
Jen C.
I'd expect a steakhouse to know how to cook something medium rare. What my husband got for his filet and I got for my prime rib, was something closer to medium well. For a steakhouse, that's just unacceptable. The waiter was also not knowledgeable about the kids menu, and took forever finding it. Ruth's Chris in the mainland is much, much better.

I passed the sign showing the local specials when I was shopping at the Grocery Store and decided it was time to give Ruth's Chris another shot....and I was not dissapointed! This location was running a "Prime Time Dining Special" where for either $39 or $47 (depending on the meat selection), you can get a full three course meal - Salad, Entree, Side, and Dessert. These prices are on par or lower than most of the dinner choices in the surrounding resorts. The food was delicious - the steak was good grain-fed beef (hawaiian beef tends to be tougher) and probably the best I could find on the island. One warning if you haven't eaten at a Ruth's Chris before - butter is used in cooking the steak, so you may want to go with a leaner cut of beef (Filet, Strip) vs. a well marbled cut. My Ribeye was good, but the steak was very well marbled and then butter is used to cook it. My wife's Filet was better than my steak and I'd probably order the Filet next time. In conclusion, this probably would get 4* if I was back home in Atlanta with 20 high end steak choices or if I'd paid full menu price, but at $39/$47 full meals in a resort area, this place is absolutely a 5* choice.
(5)
Margaret N.
Excellent meal on outside deck. Between 5 and 6 pm they offer a special of three items including entree for $39.95 which is very good. Good choices. Wine Wednesday's mean 25% off any bottle of wine ordered. We also found a coupon for $15 off any appetizer. Gregg our waiter was exceptional. Definitely will make this a favorite stop when vacationing anywhere!

12/14/08: First time at this chain with my wife and friends after a long day at the beach. Excellent courteous service that matched my expectation for an upscale steakhouse. The restaurant is located on the second floor of the shopping strip mall at the Mauna Lani resort, there were many people in the dining room when we arrived, all taking advantage of their early dining special (prix fixe menu that included appetizer, main course and dessert), we should have come for this. Most of the restaurant cleared out when the special ended at 6pm. I ordered the ribeye, it was served on a hot platter sizzling in a pond of butter (yuk!) - the steak was alittle more marbled than I would have liked (not too keen on grain fed beef). We ordered several sides; mashed potatoes (served with a healthy dose of butter), steamed broccoli (very nicely done) and sauted spinach (also good taste). I enjoyed the experience overall (except for the steak), this certainly satisfies my carnivore needs for the month. No problems showing up here with shorts and slippers, the hostess didn't mind at all!

What a week! First Roy's, then L & L followed by The CanoeHouse and rounding it out with a trip to Ruth's Chris. I've been to a couple of them in San Diego and this one twice before and the one thing I can say is they are consistently fantastic. Ruth's chopped salad, sautee spinach, creamed spinach, shoestring fries, mushrooms and a petite filet topped with bleu cheese. Not a speck of waste on the steak. Cooked perfectly medium an served piping hot. Complimented by a nice Malbec/Cabernet blend it was the perfect meal. I had to pass on dessert because the kiddos were petering out and I had to get them back to the hotel. The also have a kids menu-choice of a kid size filet or chicken or fish. I love Ruth's Chris-especially knowing that I'll get up in the morning and hit the beach.

First time to Ruth's Chris....let me sum it up: outstanding experience! We sat at the bar and bartender was friendly, efficient, and genuinely interested in making sure we had a great dinner. We hit the 3 course dinner promotion: salad, filet & side, and dessert. You can switch out the steak with fish or chicken if you prefer. Wife and I both ordered filets; our two sides were broccoli and creamy spinach. Hands-down this was the best steak I've had in at least two years. Extremely well prepared and tasty. The sides were outstanding. For dessert, we split a bread pudding (also good) and took the other home; we were stuffed. Overall, a great experience. Compared to Roy's, Ruth's is a way better deal (about 30 bucks cheaper--you can def get out under $100 with drinks) and significantly better tasting and service. Also, the restaurant is on the second flood of a building which gives you an excellent view of the sunset and a little performance area below where they have performances (nightly?). We saw some fire/hula dancing. The bar area is great as well---open air feel--either sitting or facing outside. I highly recommended this place at least one night while you are in the area.

We had a fabulous meal. The steaks were cooked to our liking and the Red Snapper was partilcularly delicious. The steamed clams were very good. One of the things that stood out was our waiter, Greg, brought a hot plate with butter where he put the cooled sauteed onions on it and reheated them to point where the aroma was irresistable. An expensive meal but worth it.

You can count on having a reliably good experience at any Ruth's Chris, but this meal was extra memorable. Went on a Saturday night, about 7:30, and were glad to have made reservations because the place was packed. Despite the crowd, the service was impeccable. The mainstay apps, steaks, and sides were all present, but they also featured some locally-sourced specials. One that we enjoyed was a caprese salad made with local Waimea tomatoes, which was really special. The rest of the meal was delicious, as always. Since were were in Hawaii for our anniversary, our waiter offered us complimentary desserts but by that time it would not have been possible to eat another bite. Instead he gave us a $25 coupon for a future visit, which was appreciated.

The food was fantastic, the service was even better. Wyatt went above and beyond to make our experience memorable.

Great food, decent service. Ordered my second drink and the server never brought it- probably the only negative here. Creamed spinach, creme brûlée were both highlights of our two four course meals. Happy Hour is the way to go. With excellent parking being a huge bonus in the lot.

(5)Suzanne N.

Omg. I had never been to Ruth Chris before but my brother-in-law is always talking about it. We came to Hawaii on a belated anniversary trip and discovered that there was a Ruth Chris nearby where we were staying so i convinced my husband to come here for a belated anniversary dinner. And boy, am i glad! It was awesome and beyond expectation. I may never be able to have steak anywhere else again! My 8oz filet came perfectly cooked on a plate that was still sizzling and simply melted in my mouth! My husband had the Macadamia-encrusted Swordfish with Lilikoi reduction, which he loved.....and it was so hawaiian too! :) We both had the louisiana seafood gumbo as a starter, which was absolutely delicious! Because it was an anniversary, we got a special dessert, strawberries in chocolate caramel rum sauce flambéed (lit on fire). So nice! My first time at Ruth Chris but definitely not my last!

Our waiter was outstanding n food was excellent as always. Love the rice side only avail in hawaii. Cheesecake was better than most other ruth chris but banana cream pie was not the same as other ruth chris Also they gave us the room for our party of 10 so it was a wonderful dinner

(2)Marina R.
Sweet potato casserole with vanilla ice cream!! It's heaven on a plate. Great happy hour awesome service!
(5)Michelle F.

(4)Mark R.
Waiter was very attentive stash was cooked to perfection as always and the banana cream pie was to die for.

3 out of 5 is a strong Yes. I love RC and I appreciate their quality of steaks and prep style. Came for the early seating where they offer a starter, entrée w/ limited sides and a dessert for $47-60. It can be a good deal since the petite filet starts at $47 for ala carte steak. I love the house salad, I ordered the blue cheese dressing and it is awesome. Mom had the cesaer and loved it. We both ordered the petite filet and it was delicious (not the most tender I have ever had but good flavor) - although ordered medium rare and it was more medium. We upgraded to the asparagus side and they were generous and perfectly cooked - definitely enough to share. The hollandaise is very lemony (not as traditional as I like) but still wonderful with the vegetables. I ordered the sautéed mushrooms and they were excellent. Very delicious! But dessert was just so-so. As a matter of fact the caramelized banana pie was horrible. Hands down. Bananas were not caramelized, they simply had sugar on them; crust was so tough and thick that it could not be cut with a fork. Stay away. Bread pudding was ok, but the sauce was lukewarm and runny. Service was competent. They do a team service which for this place doesn't work in my opinion. After paying that kind of $$ I would prefer to get one-on-one service. About 4 different people waited on us. Tacky really. But I like the place, so I would go back.

(5)Sherry J.
(5)Janet P.
Met friends for happy hour and a light meal consisting of prime rib sliders and a shrimp appetizer with one drink each. $60 plus tip. Little pricey for what we got especially for Happy Hour.
(3)Autumn S.
(3)Do Y.
(5)Bruce H.
(2)Melissa G.
(5)Teresa M.
(2)Brian S.
(3)H.ot A.
(5)Joe K.
Another great meal at RC. Excellent service by the lovely Katie Belle. Steaks cooked to perfection, sides pretty good, but the Dessert was just so-so.
(4)Howard T.
We come here every year and we love it. You can't get a better steak anywhere and the service is always excellent. We will be back again and again.
(5)Stephanie O.

(3)Mariel S.
Great service. I was a bit disappointed as I thought the food wasn't as good as usual. We literally went to RC in the mainland two weeks prior and had an amazing meal. I thought the steak was a bit bland and that the sides were just okay.
(3)Andrea A.
Food was good not the atmosphere I was thinking but the food was pretty good
(3)Brian W.

This was the first time i tried Ruth Chris Mauna Lani. My husband and i decided to give it a try to celebrate our wedding anniversary! We were pleased with our experience and was glad we had gone. The receptionist was very friendly and was able to get us a table in time to take advantage of the sizzlin prime rib special from 5-6pm. Being that we went with the special, i was thinking we would get smaller portions but everything was full size! The special came with a salad, choice of main entrée (from list), one side, and a dessert. The sides were big enough for us to share, so we ordered mushrooms and mashed potatoes! The mashed potatoes melted in my mouth! A definite must. My husband got the Rib Eye (16oz) and he loved it. He can't stop thinking about it! Everything was great. Compared to Oahu, the ambiance and restaurant as a whole was less fancy. Customer service and quality of food was still great!!
(4)John B.
(4)Lisa T.
(5)Matthew C.
(3)G P.
Second time dining @ Ruth Chris on the Big Isle: Service excellent, quality of food excellent, prep of food excellent. Ask for Thomas for your waiter. Best Tahitian vanilla ice cream I've ever had. Worth dining here.
(5)Julia F.
It's much as you would expect from a chain steak house, but the food is really quite good. Conveniently located in the Mauna Lani shops area. Plenty of food. I recommend sharing a steak between two people because it's simply gonna be a large slab of meat for one.
(4)Scott G.
(5)Greg H.
(5)Bill B.
(2)Monique R.
(5)Byan B.
Reliably great steaks and service in an upscale setting. You pay for all of this but if you feel like splurging it's a good choice.
(4)Leo V.
So good! We had to come a second time in one week - our servers were great - big shout out to Lisa and Noah! Chocolate Lava Cake is to die for. Steak = perfection. Potatoes = perfection.
(5)Maylee H.
Great service and entrees. We went with a big group so ordered everything! The calamari was over cooked, but otherwise everything else was delish! Recommend the steaks, and seafood. And the sides were an extra bonus!
(5)Kyle Y.

(5)Jessica A.
(4)Ryan J.

Never tried Ruth's Chris anywhere, so this was my first time. Thomas was our server. He was really nice, knowledgeable (about wines), and patient (we kept changing our orders for dessert because there were so many options). Yes, this was a pricey restaurant, but they had some great promotionals. Wednesday nights, you get 25% off the wine. I highly recommend Obsidian (smooth dry wine). Second promotional is a 3 course dinner for $39.99 a person between 5pm and 6pm. First, I highly recommend the Rockefeller oysters. Beautiful in presentation and very tasty. For the appetizer, I tried both the Caesar salad, and the Jambalaya. Both were good, but I recommend the jambalaya over the salad. Thomas told us it was made from scratch. I liked the presentation. They put a scoop of Hawaiian rice in the middle of the soup, so the rice isn't overcooked. We ordered the prime 8 oz. I got mine rare. It was slightly done than expected, but it was really good. Creamed spinach, mushrooms and garlic mashed potatoes were all great sides. My favorite were the mushrooms. I did try the fish of the day... Hawaiian sea bass. The fish was phenomenal, but the pepper sauce kind of tasted like Siracha sauce. I think I would have preferred the sauce on the side. nevertheless, it was delish. If you order the "butterfly" but you want rare, I would not do the butterfly. The only thing that I was kind of disappointed with is that the cows are fed corn, and not grass. I think it is a matter of preference. Cows that eat grass then to be softer from my own personal experience. The meat was very lean. Anyway it was good, and though it looks small, I think I overate. For dessert, the option was bread pudding with brandy sauce, Vanilla ice cream (with option of Hershey's chocolate syrup), and mango sherbet. I was going to get the bread pudding, but it was too much. I still tried it, and it was good too. Thomas highly recommended a chocolate delicacy called "Lava" something. It sounded to good. He also offered 3 types of crème brûlée. I will try it next time. Ambience = As classy as it gets on an island ;) See my photos...

(3)Sandy M.
(3)Anthony i.
pretty standard - ruth chris on the island. since there aren't many options around the area, ruth chris would be a good place to dine. we ordered late and they screwed up our order (as a result?). we tried allen's table and it was a much better experience, local and tasty. venture out if you have a car... if not and you don't want to get some foodland, you'll be okay here.
(2)Suzanne A.
Enjoy!
(5)Joy S.
(5)David W.
Best steak i've ever eaten in all my years of eating. :) Get the filet!

Shocker.
(1)R A.
Excellent service, food very good. A tad noisy.
(4)CalaMari A.
i knew it would be phenomenal as usual, but this time it was even better- we did the 3 course early bird special, which is about $42-$52 per person depending on your selections. for starters we tried the ceasar salad and seafood gumbo, which was good.
(5)Duane Y.
Great Food and Service. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and the waitstaff was very responsive

(5)Anjyl J.
ABSOLUTELY SUPERB!!! The food, the service ...no other place can compare! Never a disappointment!
(5)Amy S.
Meh! I have had better steak. The waiter kept filling up the men's wine and skipping me (the only woman at the table drinking wine). Side dishes are an extra charge. Lame.
(2)David P.
(5)BS F.
(1)Magnum P.
The best steakhouse in Hawaii. Period. Check out the bargain early bird specials.
(5)Jen C.
(2)Robert C.
(5)Margaret N.
