Wow! Longboards Legends is amazing! This really is the best pizza place I have found on the island. You can get a HUGE slice of pizza, a side salad, and a drink for a little under $10! The people are also amazing! They are friendly, and are super helpful. Even the cooks were laughing and having fun with us during our visit. I think I will be coming back often!

Delicious! Great pizza, limeade, mud pie. Yum!

Offensively expensive for product size/toppings, and quality. First time in, the pizza was burned badly. They gave us 2 cards for a free slice but wouldn't remake the pizza unless we paid for the remake. Came to pick up an order for two pizzas today, spent $35 and got the equivalent of two gas station pizzas. Girl just shrugged when I asked if this was the right order. What a joke. 1 star for the girl who was training at the register. At least she gave a shit. You're better off spending the money on gas and driving out to pats in captain cook.

I eat a lot of pizza but I just didn't care too much for it here. I got the Hawaiian. It was mostly a thick layer of cheese- not much ham or pineapple. I picked it up and got home within 10 minutes, it was already soggy. Sorry Longboard Pizza, I won't be back.

Best thin crust on the Big Island! Great salads and cozy outdoor seating. Get here soon cuz this place is gonna be packed before you know it!

As we had seen numerous posts about Longboard Legends Pizza by many friends who live in Kona, we planned to include a visit here before we left our home in Calgary, AB. We stopped in after spending the day hiking in Volcano National Park. We definitely brought our appetites. We ordered the 28 inch Brazilian Steak pizza. Off. The. Chain! My taste buds rose up and called the chef blessed. You're welcome, taste buds, you're welcome. The TARO pizza dough is the perfect foundation for the amazing garlic sauce. All the toppings married together perfectly. Topped with fresh arugula. I just gave myself chicken skin thinking about it!!! Did I mention how hungry we were? We left fully sated and with almost half a pizza! Can't wait for leftovers tomorrow at lunch. Even though it was a rainy night, we were cozy under the awning. Busy place too. Lots of take out orders walking out the door! One guy had enough food to feed the entire Duggar clan...yup, all 19 of them, or whatever number they're up to now. Staff are super friendly and service was lightening fast. Great value for your money. $57 for dinner and soda, and tons of leftovers. Ono nom noms!

By far the best pizza in Kona! I have tried every other place hoping it will solve my craving for some good pizza and finally Longboard did it. I'm from NJ so I'm pretty picky about my pizza if ya know what I mean. Sauce was good, cheese tasted high quality, and crust was perfectly chewy but crispy. The prices were reasonable and staff seemed friendly too. Can you get better pizza in NY? Yes. But this is the best I've tried on the island so far so make sure you give it a try!

The pizza was incredible and the service was even better. I guess it's easy to be happy when you're working at a pizza place in paradise, though :D. I got the garlic lovers. SO GOOD! Whole cloves of garlic, dripping with olive oil, and a ton of yummy, fresh arugala. My friend and I split a 20inch. We got a half garlic lovers, half whatever she got. Don't remember, sorry :/. It was huge!

We had two individual pizzas here and both were very good. The pizza crust was pleasantly chewy and the toppings fresh and plentiful. The smell of the pizzas baking in the oven was fantastic and we couldn't wait to dig in. Prices were reasonable and the staff friendly.

I saw some negative reviews on this place and according to a local they had issues in the past but now have it down. Have had their pizza now a couple of times and while I am a thin crust fan this is more of a medium crust and it was cooked really well. Now their sizes are kind of weird 10 inch 20 inch medium, 28 inch large just be warned when you order. The first night we got it I told my daughter to get a large and was surprised as I expected a large to be around 16 inch. Nope 28 inches biggest large I have ever seen. Had the Hawaiian this time and the ham was excellent nicely spiced. So don't be put off by the negative reviews and if your tired of eating seafood and want a great pizza in downtown Kona give it a try. Folks behind the counter were friendly as well guess I am not as self conscious as the one review where the person did not feel " welcome" :) 4 stars here.

Burnt our pizza on the first time around. Ended up waiting another 20 minutes for another one. We waited a total of 1 hour in their oven of a restaurant for a 10 inch pizza that was 40% crust and a soggy salad. Gave'um a break with 2 stars since their new and working out the kinks.

My business is just across the street, and we love pizza, so we were very excited to have a real pizza shop open up a few months ago. We have not been disappointed! They have a slice of the day each day and I have yet to get the same pizza twice. The variety is wonderful, and the ingredients are top-notch. It's like pizza should be made. Nice Costco size slices. Today was spinach, feta cheese and red pepper; a few weeks ago it was pesto and chicken. I have yet to have a bad slice. The salad and slice come to about $8--a good deal for a nice takeout lunch.

Here's the deal, went in and ordered a pizza to go with I'm assuming the Owner's daughter. Waited like 45 minutes on the patio. Went back in, spoke to same lady who gave us a number and said it would be ready soon. She came out with pizza about 25 minutes later, gave us an apology about how she forgot to give slip to the people making the pizza and didn't realize it until we went back in. She gave us cards for a free slice of pizza but it was our last day of vacation and couldn't go back. That being said, we got the Hawaiian Pizza. It was good but not good re-heated. Wished we would've just gotten cheese. The crust tasted good and cheese tasted fresh. Nothing to really rave about.

Nothing but praise for this pizza place. Hot delicious pizza, amazing salad, and a very friendly staff!! To boost, homemade root beer and lime-ale - yum!! The best pizza on the big island!!

  • Lauren B.

I live in NYC, where there is no shortage of delicious pizza. Still, the pizza at Longboard's was some of the yummiest I've had! The veggies were fresh, and the crust, sauce and cheese were all just right. I wish we had leftovers! Yum.

Stopped in here the other day with a friend for a quick bite to eat, and am so GLAD that we did. The staff were very welcoming, and their pizza and salad were very appetizing! I had the house salad, and got to personalize my own pizza. I chose spinach, italian sausage, and feta cheese; which were so tasty together! They also have a cute and spacious outdoor sitting area too. All their ingredients are locally grown and organic, which is a plus for me!! Prices are definitely affordable and I will be back soon for sure!!!

Opt for Big Island Pizza or Kona Brewing Co for excellent pizza, if your looking for mediocre at best this is the place. Pretty disappointed.

I just picked up a 20 inch endless summer pizza to go. Wow it's huge and that's not even their biggest. I really like the crust but the toppings are a little sparse but very tasty. Although I carrIed out I looked around and saw that they have created a very nice outdoor area. I'll definitely go back and try other specialties but will probably get the 10 inch next time which should be plenty for 2 people.

Really good pizza. A bit pricy but they are big. Two mediums feed a two families (8 people) and we had left overs.

  • Yes S.

Thin slice chewy crispy crust. So good. Sauce and toppings are on point Had a single slice of pepperoni and a large supreme pizza. Sauce cheese toppings crust the four criteria for pizza. They hit the ball outta the park on all four Probably best pizza on big island. Fast fresh delicious.

  • Kim K.

Really good just too large. We ordered a medium and it was 20". The small is too small to share with two people and the medium is way too large. Maybe something along the order of 14". Service was good. Just smoky inside if you want eat it there.

Was there for a business lunch shortly after they opened. Fresh spices helped to make an excellent pizza. Plastic utensils could use an upgrade. Very friendly. No beer license yet. Back garden area very relaxing. Substantial promise and will check back to see how they develop.

Ok, we liked the crust, the sauce...but not the combinations we had, including the canned jalapeños rather than fresh ones. Son said cheese pizza he had was Da Best ever. The limeade and the ginger soda were also not a hit. We will try it again but in custom combinations we prefer. The back patio seating was nice.

I wrote a review for Longboard Legends Pizza last March 2014 soon after they opened. My husband and I loved the pizza. I returned this week with two lady friends and we all ordered their slice of the day. It was a delicious thin crust with red sauce, cheese, onions and artichoke hearts. It was cooked perfectly, crunchy but not dry. Just the right amount of sauce, cheese and topping. All three of us loved it. It was a very large slice. The service was friendly and good with two employees taking orders and serving that I had not met on previous visits. The price for the slice of the day was only $5.50. A real value for the size and quality.

I have eaten at all the pizza places in Kona and this place was awful. The service was great but we couldn't eat the pizza. They make their own pepperoni ( which sounds good) but tastes terrible. We actually threw it out, which I have never done. Perhaps it was the pepperoni that threw us off, and the other pizzas are good? All I can say is the homemade pepp was gross.

This place will open on March 6th. We happened to stop by and they offered us a slice of their thin crust pizza. The pizza delicious! They make a lot of their own ingredients including the ham and sausage.

This is a true story: we ordered a 20 inch pizza to go. They did not put on the cheese, sauce or chicken. Other customers that night, March 28, 2014, also complained that their orders were late, MIA or messed up. Too bad, because the menu looks great. Execution was demented, to say the least. Either all employes need to be fired or new owners need to take over. Or everyone was seriously high that one evening. Kona needs more great restaurants, not a place that confirms we are stuck in the 50's.

Visiting from California and came across this restaurant. Pizza was great. Fresh and tasty homemade dough and the crust was a good consistency. We also got the garlic bread which my kids also loved. Friendly service too.

It may not be the right thing to give five stars as often as I have been giving them here on the big island, but this pizza place exceeded expectations on many levels. The interior of the restaurant is comfortable, with nice wood surfaces, a nice pizza oven, comfortable tables and chairs, nice lighting and ambience, in a laid-back sort of way. I'm not sure why people would complain. We're not gonna' call this authentic Italian or Sicilian or Chicago or New York...or whatever, but the crust is really good, the toppings and sauce are fresh and flavorful, and it is indeed real pizza, not "chain" pizza, not pizza-ish or pizza-like. This is good. It is more expensive than boutique, or family-owned pizzerias on the madland, but the quality is there and the flavor and texture is very good. The large is very large and very expensive at around 50 bucks, but it will feed you and your wife and kids and your kids' friends too with slices to take home. If you're just a hungry dude with or without a girl on your arm, just grab a couple slices with your favorite toppings and you will not be disappointed and will pay a very reasonable price for two good-size slices and a tasty chilled salad - around twelve bucks. The staff are friendly and do a good job. Pepperoni and mushroom, an old standard, very good. "Hawaiian", with ham and pineapple, can be hit or miss at other places, sometimes just plain wrong, but Longboard Legends' version is damn good. The crust is important, and it is crisp and just the right thickness at the edges and in the center. The toppings are also important, and the toppings here are fresh, quality, delicious, and generous. Don't settle for some chain that you're familiar with. Come here and have a highly satisfying, freshly made slice or whole pie and enjoy every bite. This pizza is delicious food, not just some round, cheesy product with red sauce. Been here a few times already and never had a problem with service or anything else. I'm not in any hurry to go find some other place in Kona to eat pizza. I like Legends just fine. Thanks for making us feel like Ohana (family).

I haven't been impressed with the food in Kona, but this spot was a pleasant surprise for a quick bite. Staff was friendly, service was great, and the pizza by the slice with a salad was tasty.

We ordered some pizza by the slice last night. It was the best by far in Kona. I look forward to going again next week.

The pizza here is really good. The BF and I got a medium 20' Kealoha's garlic lover and added Italian sausage to it. It was SOOOOO good, albeit a little greasy from the sausage. Their pizza's appear a little on the pricey side, but they try to use all local ingredients and when you take into condsideration we got 4 meals out of it, it really ISN'T that expensive. There's no A/C so if it's one of those rare days that it's super hot and muggy (like the day we went), opt for the outdoor seating on the back patio. It's much cooler out there and there's also a big fan out there to keep the air moving.

I have been here maybe a dozen times and the pizza and other menu items are excellent. My family loves going here. But you have to eat in the outside patio/lanai or take it to go as it is very hot inside the small interior.

A member of our church told us to try it. We looked at the reviews with reservation. We went anyhow! Awesome. We had the pizza slice of the day (SOD). It was Hawaiian Ham, green peppers and black olives. The slice was 5.50 and a side salad was 1.99. The salad alone was a meal, great portion and delicious. I had blue cheese crumbles with balsamic vinaigrette. There was a unique smoky flavor to the slice which was so large I could barely finish it. It covered a normal size paper plate with plenty of toppings. We found out they SMOKE ALL THEIR MEATS and a smoker sits outside. COOL! That's why it was so good! So for 5.50 plus 2.00 we ate like Kings for 7.50! My kind of dinner! Vern is the owner and we know him from Livingstone's. His two sons were doing the cooking......were super friendly. I highly recommend it. I am from NY and it lives up to any expectation I haven't I've had the best! I watched pizzas carried out past us that were huge. There are three sizes 10-28" and three priciest IF you purchased the large its larger than any pizza I know of in Kona....and obviously feeds a family. So in reality if you spend 24-29.00 for the super large size, you get your moneys worth! The other competitors (Kona Brewery and Cafe Pesto) are good, but expensive and no where near that size! (for the same price). A SLICE WAS PLENTY! They have only been open for less than two months. I think that horrible review posted was when they just opened and had not worked out the bugs. Great food! The back yard was fun, relaxing, outside, plenty of out door patio furniture that was comfortable with great ambiance. Great for groups! Bravo. LongboardpizzaVern.JPG

Very disappointed with this place. Just got a medium margarita pizza for take away and it was legendarily bad. Was pretty big in size but very expensive. Biggest complaint is the cheese only covered about 30 percent of the pizza. Unacceptable rip off. Huge patches with no cheese at all. Not sure if its normally supposed to be like that or they are just cutting costs or something but don't understand how this tomato bread justifies the $27 price tag. The parmesan cheese that was listed in the description on the menu actually just meant it came with little packets of parmesan. Was cold when we got it and was mostly flavourless. Not to mention, while we were waiting for the pizza the waitress walked by muttering swear words under her breath at other customers. Counted her doing this 6 times and have never seen something like this at at a restaurant in my life. You're better off with Domino's or Pizza Hut (buffet), or better yet, Kona Brew Pub.

Best pizza by far in Kailua. After we lost Pizzeria Zachinni I had lost all hope for true Italian style pizza in town. Now Longboard Legends has taken up the standard. Love the SOD (slice of the day): the plain cheese is sublime, and the combinations are often perfection. Service on every occasion has been helpful and thoughtful and welcoming. Their 28" seemed a bit expensive until it arrived. It completely covered a small table, and it fed six hungry people with several leftover slices to take home for breakfast. My only cavil is not quite enough chocolate in the mud pie, but hey. I went for pizza, not dessert.

I absolutely love Longboard Legends Pizza as it so delicious and it is worth every penny! I mean have you seen the LARGE pizza? It is totally HUMONGOUS and it is such conversation piece! Talk about having to create a custom box just to hold this beast too! Once you go to Longboard Legends Pizza it is hard to go back to any other pizza! The best pizza in Kona or maybe in Hawaii! My daughter and husband also love this delicious one of a kind pizza especially the Taro crust. So unique.

it's a shame because i really like the pizza. the flavor is there, the toppings are quality. but the service is horrible. i called to put in a togo order and got hung up on on accident twice, and the order was wrong when i got there. and the one counter girl was super short and rude the few times i have been. this pizza is SO expensive. insane. just no. how hard is it to have regular sized pizza and regular pizza pricing. $40 for a medium(which is actually a large) with only two toppings, which were limited. the toppings were really sparse i'm sorry but did mick jagger sign this pizza? why is it $40? the small is so small, its a personal pizza size. and it costs $18! insane. why isn't there a size between the super small small and the too big medium, and then there is the big mama jamba the "large" come on, really? the prices are grossly inaccurate on their website. and when i questioned the girl at the cashier her response was "i don't really know what to tell you. but that'll be $18 for your small pizza." unless they make changes to the pricing and/or sizing i will not be returning. the website is not to be trusted.

Came to Kona again for the Queen Liliuokalani race. I had seen this pizza place last year and wanted to try it, but didn't have time. Around 7 pm we ordered our food at the counter. After sitting there for an hour we're asked if we're waiting on an order. We've only been sitting there while the waitress passed by us 3 or 4 times to check on the people having their dinner outside. After they apologized about the situation and put our order in, it only took 10 mins for our pizza to cook, but we had to wait over an hour because they forgot to place our order.!! Don't know how they could have forgotten about us when the restaurant wasn't even busy, waitress placed our order number and plates on the table, and we were the only ones inside and a few other patrons ate out on the patio!!! Maybe we should've ate on the patio in order to be seen since obviously sitting at the counter in front of the cooks wasn't good enough. They tried to compensate us with a 20% off coupon for the next time, or to give to someone else that would eat here. After waiting over an hour, why take our chances next time? They ended up giving us garlic cheese bread and a couple bottles of water. The pizza was okay. Garlic cheese bread was yummy. I would've given this place at least 4 stars. Bummed that this was my first experience here and got treated this way.

This place was totally legit, come here for your pizza when visiting the Big Island! We ordered the largest pizza available, and we had to turn the box at an angle to get it into the backseat of our SUV! Now that's a pizza people! Big Pizza on da Big Island! It is also very good left over, we couldn't eat it all in one sitting since it was so big. The owners are super nice and take pride in their pies. Can't wait to visit again!

The first time i ate here a year ago it was amazing...the 2nd time mediocre and the pizza we ordered last night to go was a disaster!!!! We called in a to go, got the Pe'Ahi. OMG this poor pizza was burnt to a crisp, and was so dry we couldn't cut yet alone chew through this thing. It was also overdosed with sun dried tomato's. In fact it was a burnt to crisp sun dried tomato pizza. Th poor older woman on the phone was a little unprofessional as well. You guys, please if you burn a pizza that bad make a new one. Do not send it out the door. This place is unconsistent. I will be forever searching for the first pizza we first ever got, but am calling mercy!( I have pics of this thing but can't figure out how to download them on this review.)

I came here for a good 'ol American pizza and it hit the spot. The first one came out slightly burnt and they made a second one because they didn't think it was good enough. What perfectionists. Both were yummy.

Ordered two medium pizzas that would have been larges back home. If you like good NY style pizza... then this will be a good place for you. Flavors were distinctive but I would ask for extra cheese since that is our family taste. Very friendly staff when we went in and a lot of locals buying. I would recommend getting th Hawaiian but add their jalapeños. .. they were very good.

We ordered 2 large pizzas to go a few days ago, the large pizza here could be an extra large other places. (Large is 28"). I liked the Pizza Margarita, it wasn't the best I've had, but it was fine. I was not in love with the Brazilian Steak pizza, however. The meat was not recognizable as steak and had a spicy flavor that did not appeal to me. If I eat at Longboard Legends again I will not order this one again. It's a cute place to eat and there are tables in the back out side of the very hot restaurant/pizza oven.

Was starving, service was slooow. Took Waaay to looooong to get pizza and cheese bread. Thought they would serve the cheese bread first to have something to munch on. Nope, brought cheese bread with a very small ten inch pizza that was mediocre. No real spices or flavor to the pizza (ordered the Greek pizza). I have had a better Greek pizza - Nothing to write home about!! Not worth the wait!

This is a Good pizza place. We ordered take out. Stephanie, who took our order over the phone , was very friendly. Ordered a small cheese, small Margherita, and a vegetarian. Even though they didn't have a vegetarian on their menu, Stephanie created one for us. She said it would be 35 to 40 minutes. Got there in 40 minutes and they were just packing it up. Plenty of parking at 6 pm. My daughter loved the Margherita, the cheese was perfect for my other daughter. The 20 inch vegetarian was hugh. It was very tastie and not olily. I would go again next time I'm in Kona.

March 19, 2015 8:15pm We walked into Longboards from the back parking lot. There's a nice, relaxing, outside patio seating area. Inside, the main part of the restaurant seemed clean. We (The Hubs, boys and I) grabbed a table and waited for a server and menu, since there wasn't a menu on the wall. All we got, was a female worker behind the counter, telling us we need to order at the counter. She slaps the menus down on the counter, then walks around our table to check on another family already eating. Immediately, I thought we should walk right out and head to Bianelli's Pizza or even Domino's Pizza. We didn't need that type of attitude, especially on our 1st visit (probably only visit after tonight's dinner). How hard could it be for her to hand us a menu on the way to the table behind us? Handing us a menu and informing us we need to place our order and pay at the counter would have been a better way to treat customers. We got the menus, sat back down and browsed their large menu. They offered a variety of pizzas in 3 sizes. 10", 20" and a really large 28". All are hand tossed (thick crust and thin centers) taro dough. They also have calzones, salads and garlic cheese bread. Desserts too. We ordered a large, but the girl said it's too big. We wanted to take leftovers home. But with her attitude and constantly checking her watch, we went with the 20" pepperoni and 2 orders of garlic cheese bread. The menu said it was 4 slices, so we ordered 2.lol The worker didn't tell us, but there's no fountain drinks. Just a jug of disgusting tap water that's self serve (Lemon slices did not help) and bottled soft drinks by the main door. The hubby bought a few after the water was so gross. We moved to the outside patio, for more breeze and so we didn't have to be around the attitude of the female workers. Pizza came out about 30 minutes later. Garlic bread took an extra 15 minutes after the pizza. Pizza wasn't too bad. The outside crust was soft and thick. The sauce wasn't that great and there was very little of it. Cheese and pepperoni were also sparse. Half of the pizza was a bit burned, charred pepperoni. The taro dough was different, not over powering, but it had a distinct taste. A side of sauce would have been perfect with the thick crusts. Garlic cheese bread actually came in 6 slices. We should have only ordered 1, instead of 2. But the menu said 4 slices... At least we had something leftover to take home. Restaurant cleanliness was 5 stars. Staff and service -5 stars. Food 2 stars. Likely to return to Domino's Pizza, Bianelli's Pizza, Pizza Hut, Kona Brew Pup and Humpy's before we ever come back to Longboard Legends.

Got two medium pizzas......... the 20 inchers, as other reviewers say, are huge. The combo was just ok, we found it rather bland. The bbq chicken was not very good. These were takeout pizzas. When we were finished there was a greasy patina on the wax paper in the boxes; not sure what that was about, definitely unusual. I really wanted to like this place as it is fairly close to where we live, but I'm back to driving the 15 minutes to Bianelli's or the closer Kona Brewing Co...... sigh.

Great little pizza place located a few blocks from Kailua-Kona's shops and galleries. The girl working at the counter was super sweet and patient with us as we debated on what to order. We'd had a long day and were disoriented so deciding on something as simple as what type of pizza to get, was a chore-lol! For my boyfriend and I, a 10 inch pizza with two side salads was a simple but yummy and filling dinner. I can't remember the name of it, but it was vegetarian with roasted tomatoes, onions and two types of cheese. The crust was thick but not too heavy and the tomatoes were roasted to perfection. Spices, which I couldn't quite place gave the sauce some kick and for $24.00-including the pizza, salad and drinks- it was all a delicious value. Nice patio out back with plenty of shade and seating to sit, and a private lot. Nice staff and a great option for a quick and simple dinner in the area.

Service is non existent. Franks hot wings were inedible and pizza was sub par at best. What kind of restaurant has you tip a server at the start of your order? Now I know why. If it was at the end no one would give a dime. I feel sorry for all the tourists who will blindly go here, spend a hundred bucks for 2x 20" pizzas a salad, wings and soda.

Odd setup. You walk in un-greeted. Dont know if you should order at counter or sit at a table inside the 95°degrees kitchen/restaurant area Or attempt to find a spot outside on back lanai to wait on service. Had to go to counter to ask. We ordered and paid. Thankfully Found a spot outside. Forget it on actual service! The waitress was clueless. And brought us our salad with NO salad dressing. And hadn't brought our drinks yet either. Almost spilled the huge pizza in my lap. And my beer as well. She's probably not meant to serve. Poor thing. The BBQ had an overpowering chipotle cheesy drizzle on top. It was too Hot and overpowered the BBQ flavor and where was the chicken!? They skimped BIG time! And btw, it's not cheap. And we had no water. I had to go To counter again to ask. Cause my mouth was on fire from the supposed "BBQ chicken pizza"Just for her to tell me it's "self-serve, over there" why can't they say this from the start? And put on their menu that the BBQ chicken is spicey? I was highly disappointed . mainly because i heard it was good. And it's so not.. Hate to complain. But this is not worth the $. Seriously

Best pizza on the island! Service is top notch. Very friendly staff. Excellent place to stop by after a long sunny day at the beach or as a quick pick-me-up before you head out to the water. Trust me... Just. Go. There. You won't regret it. ;)

So we may be a bit starving, but we popped in here for a snack to tie us over til dinner. One 3 cheese slice and a garlic cheese bread set back about 8 bucks. Delish! Being the cheese snobs that we are, I liked that theirs has flava! Nothing fancy, but when you're hungry...go for it!

Went there because of the great reviews, left pretty disappointed. The establishment sucks (tables and chairs are uncomfortable and cheap, hot as hell, plastic cutlery if requested, dirty tables, etc..), the kitchen people don't use hairnets, gloves or aprons.. Just a couple of sweaty dudes making pizzas (poor guys, I wish the owner would buy an ac). Service was slow - 1 hour (!!!) for two pizzas (they said it would be 30 min) and the pizza was mediocre at best. You know when you're really hungry you could eat anything and call it gourmet food. I was extremely hungry and I ate some greasy heavy salted pizza and thought it was just sub par... And expensive relative to the quality, establishment and service. I really don't get it.. Even the deli pizza at my local food co-op which takes 10 minutes to cook kicks longboard's ass. Either I got a bad shift or the island standards are low (a bunch of local kids were talking outside that this is the best pizza on the island)

Fresh ingredients. Pizza by the slice (tomatoes base with cheese) starts at $3.50 per slice. Each topping is an additional $0.50. A slice of pizza is pretty decent size. In addition, they also serve sandwiches and salads. Overall, fantastic deal for someone who wants a quick affordable bite to eat, or just wants to order a whole pie.

Few come to Hawai'i for the food, and even fewer for the pizza. Suffice it so say, the quality of the pizza here is about what would be expected: bready, under-seasoned, tinny (like it came from a tin can) sauce. Nothing that would pass for pizza anywhere else. Anyone who dares to compare it to NY pizza has clearly never been--much less lived--in NY. Ok, so you serve a crappy product. That can be forgiven. Couple it with horrible service, and there's a problem. Total and utter confusion is perhaps the best way to describe the service. We waited over 20 minutes to get our drinks, Our wings never arrived, and our pizzas were delivered to the next table, before we had to correct them. I don't like tipping before receiving a service--and this was a perfect example of why. I gave a cash tip, which I wanted back. Truly horrendous service. Definitely not worth it.

Over my vacation in Kona, my family went not once but twice to Longboard Legends, it was that good!! Honestly one of the best pizzas I have ever had. We got the Islander, Mr.Pipeline's Combo and the Big Island Hawaiian. All three were fantastic. I think what makes this pizza so great is the crust. It was the perfect combo between crispy and doughy. The sauce was delicious and you can taste how fresh the ingredients are. So great.

Still giving 5 stars... But... one of the older employees has a stank attitude... If I ask "do you have a restroom" don't walk bye me and say "yes we do"... Tell me where it's at... Sorry your busy carrying plates but don't be rude... Pizza is bomb!!! Amazing!!!!just don't be rude to customers that live here in Hawaii and come and spend 50 bucks a visit... It's bad for your business.

The decor is nice, the staff is nice. Maybe I'm rating this too harshly. I wish there were more star options. The pizza just isn't very good. I want it to be because it seems like they're really trying. Maybe they'll get it eventually. The crust just isn't quite there and toppings don't go well together and some of the toppings just aren't very good. Marinated canned artichoke hearts from a can should not be polluting a pizza in my opinion. I could see how someone would really like it if they like that kind of crust (hard-ish) and got the right toppings.

Nice, family run restaurant. Taro dough pizza dough is a nice twist on tradition. Ordered their medium size pizza and it was huge for two but allowed us some great leftovers which reheated very well. Nice sheltered, outdoor patio in back is relaxing place to enjoy your meal. Looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu

Stopped here for lunch this past Sunday and the 3 of us really enjoyed our pizza choices. My brother had a meaty pizza, sister had a margerita pizza and I ordered a margerita with spinach on it. Unfortunately they seemed to misunderstand me and swapped my basil for spinach. It was still good but would have been a lot better. No biggie. The lady taking orders was so sweet I couldn't fault her for one little mistake. It was the first time having the thin crust type pizza for my brother and he is such a fan! Would I go back? Yes Would I recommend it to friends? Definitely!

This place was good, but unless you have like 6 hungry people sharing a pizza, stick with a slice. The medium was gigantic!

I usually don't write reviews but...the first time we got a 28" pizza from here it was good!..the crust and toppings were tasty and chewy. We called 20 minutes before closing and they made it right away. We decided to try a pizza with different toppings this time. When I called in the order the woman who took the order shouted out to ask how long a 28" pizza would take, she came back on the phone saying it will take 45 minutes...we went in in 45 minutes. When we brought it home and opened the box, it was obvious that they threw the pepperoni on at the last minute so they all fell off and also by how cold and hard the cheese and crust was, the pizza was ready way before 45 minutes and had been sitting for a while..a long while. $63 for this pizza...I wouldnt risk going back and getting another crappy pizza.

Second time eating here and got the same salad, the cob. When it was first opened the salad was a lot better. They didn't underportion the chicken and the lettuce was fresh. This last time the lettuce was rusty. There was minimal chicken. I think with tax I spent $13. The person that rung me up wasn't super friendly. As I was picking up my order I was watching flies buzzing around the pizza dough while it was being worked. I will not go back and won't recommend it.

After a loooooong and strenuous hike to go snorkeling in beautiful Hawaii pizza sounds really good. I would have settled for sub-standard pizza. Any pizza, really, but I'm so glad we found this place! The pizza is great and spiced perfectly. The ingredients are high quality and the people there are so friendly! It's a little more expensive than your average chain pizza place, but I think the taste is worth it. Just a tip: the pizzas are huge (which I personally love), so keep that in mind when you order. A medium pizza will easily feed a hungry group of 4 or 5.

Just moved to the big island and it's a bit of a culture shock but great pizza makes it better. This place is awesome. I love the rustic crust and better than average toppings. Friendly owner operated business Gotta love it

I was pleasantly surprised with the yummy food, although expensive. We tried the BBQ Roast Beef sandwich w/ side salad ($9.95), Build Your Own Calzone where you pick your own sauce, cheese, premium toppings, and meats for $12.95. The sauce served with the calzone was the best we've ever had. I could see service being slow, because everything is hand made, luckily we went about 4:30pm and were the only ones there initially.

We came in at 6:30 mid week and it was not busy but it took over 45 min to get Hawaii pizza served. The pizza was very large and feed three of us very well. The quality was good too, not great but good. Nice outdoor seating, typical Hi pricing, nice staff.

Can I give ZERO STARS? The first time we came here, I think they had been open for a week already. The atmosphere when we first walked in was beyond uncomfortable. Like, why was every single employee staring at us, refusing to say anything? Hello, you work in a restaurant where your interaction with customers is part of the business and first impressions are important for new businesses, especially restaurants. Our cashier was oblivious to everything and made ordering a pizza similar to telling your 50 year old doctor that something is wrong "down there" but you don't know what it is and you've never been to this doctor before and his hands are cold and omg stop touching me. When we got our pizza, it was completely burned. I think there were two or three slices that were edible. "Oh, it's a little burned, so here are two free slice cards. If you want a new one, since it was our mistake you will have to pay us to make you another one." Well, since they were pretty new when we first went, we decided to try them again since my parents were in visiting and craving pizza. This was our only option, other than Pizza Hut. We ordered two 10" pizzas. Having seen a 10" pizza before, we all knew that it would be enough for us. What did we get? Something closer to a Barbie pizza. Grand total? $35!! "Should we go ahead an add a 20"?" We did! The result? Something a giant would have ordered. Did the people who opened this place and trained the staff graduate from elementary math? Are they using their own ruler? Did Longboard Legends create a new form of measurement? Go to Patz Pies. It's worth it, unlike this ripoff pizza joint.

Yuck. I really wanted to like this place because the staff were super friendly and the pizza was expensive and took FOREVER to make. We paid $27 for 4 slices of pizza and a side salad. Unfortunately the pizza sucked.

After a week on the island enjoying bowls of poke and all sorts of amazing seafood, all my husband and I wanted was a big pizza. Enter Longboard Pizza which was exactly what we wanted. Service was excellent (friendly and helpful), pizza was delicious and ingredients were fresh. It was just what we wanted and we will definitely return. Yum.

The pizzas are huge and INCREDIBLE! Second trip in 3 days. Loved pizza the first time, but owner was not happy with how it turned out so she gave us a FREE pizza certificate. Came back and AMAZING! The Hawaiian Ham is smoked in house and is delicious! The garlic cheese bread is great too!

  • Joyce F.

I would go again next time I'm in Kona.

it's a shame because i really like the pizza. the flavor is there, the toppings are quality. but the service is horrible. i called to put in a togo order and got hung up on on accident twice, and the order was wrong when i got there. and the one counter girl was super short and rude the few times i have been. this pizza is SO expensive. insane. just no. how hard is it to have regular sized pizza and regular pizza pricing.

I really wanted to like this place as it is fairly close to where we live, but I'm back to driving the 15 minutes to Bianelli's or the closer Kona Brewing Co...... sigh.

So unique.

Definitely!

The pizza is really good and the mud pie is the best! I love the little patio on the back, it's the perfect place to sit and enjoy good company and great food.

We came in at 6:30 mid week and it was not busy but it took over 45 min to get Hawaii pizza served. The pizza was very large and feed three of us very well. The quality was good too, not great but good. Nice outdoor seating, typical Hi pricing, nice staff.

This place was good, but unless you have like 6 hungry people sharing a pizza, stick with a slice. The medium was gigantic!

First timer! I ordered the limeade and a slice of Brazilian steak. It was delicious! Good price too! I recommend you go. P.S. the limeade is tart, not sweet.

  • Windy S.

  • Stefania C.

I have been here maybe a dozen times and the pizza and other menu items are excellent. My family loves going here. But you have to eat in the outside patio/lanai or take it to go as it is very hot inside the small interior.

  • Coño G.

  • Bob N.

Yum.

  • M S.

    (5)
  • Kim K.

Really good just too large. We ordered a medium and it was 20". The small is too small to share with two people and the medium is way too large. Maybe something along the order of 14". Service was good. Just smoky inside if you want eat it there.

  • Frank G.

  • Jen W.

  • Nabil A.

  • Neato T.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
