This is one of the sweetest B&B's on the island! Ken is literally one of the nicest and most genuine people I have ever met and he runs a really beautiful and MAGICAL spot! The sound of coqui frogs are just perfect to lull you to sleep, the koi ponds and waterfalls, both beautiful and relaxing. The morning breakfast was served by some extremely sweet and loving people...I could taste the love in the food! The lanai for coffee in the morning and to just listen to the birds feels like it is out of a dream! I really felt like I stepped into a different world and am extremely thankful I was recommended this spot! I usually go for the more mainstream hotels. This was a huge treat!!!! I felt like family leaving and didn't want to go! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

We were lucky enough to accidentally find this beautiful spot and spent 2 nights (during the big Hawaii islands hurricanes 2014 ridiculousness) and had a wonderful time. The property is beautiful, the large cottage gorgeous, the food excellent and the staff fantastic! I don't think I could have enjoyed myself any more.

We were visiting friends from the mainland and stayed here for New Years. When we first arrived the place looked somewhat dark and damp. Our room was clean and very comfortable. The next morning we realized that we really were in a little oasis. The sunlight brightened up the place and because our sleep had been so comfortable we realized that we had made an excellent choice. The breakfast is a made to order...you order it, you make it!!! All of the ingredients are on hand to make a delicious breakfast: omelets, waffles, toast on homemade bread, fresh fruit (already sliced), juice and coffee. Dining is outside where you are frequently entertained by birds or chickens. Reminds us of this song..." There's a sweet, sweet spirit in this place..."

Friendly, conveniently located, beautiful building / felt fancy for the price, free WiFi, comfy and relatively quiet. It would've been handy to have a mini-fridge in the room, but no big deal. We didn't end up trying the breakfast options, though you-make-it sounds handy. We'd stay there again if visiting Kona, though we actually did more things in Captain Cook.

Perfect for those who like convenience of being near Kailua and the beach but don't want to be in the middle of all the tourist stuff. (It's a five minute drive away.) It's not the most luxurious B&B but I'm giving it five stars since it's a great value -- their cheapest room, the Japanese teahouse cottage, is $68.50/night (separate bathroom in the house, which is a minor annoyance, but the room is quite large) to the $168.50 Banyon cottage. We stayed in the Japanese tea house cottage and the small Maile room ($78.50). The tea house cottage is perfect for those looking to save, and it has a lot of character. We'd originally signed up for the Maile room for three nights but due to a confusion with their reservations system only the tea house was available the first night. Despite the inconvenience of trekking outside and downstairs to access the restroom (which is specifically designated for just the people in the room, though since it's off the kitchen I wouldn't be surprised if others occasionally use it) we liked it so much we stayed there an additional night. As an added bonus, they give you a box of chocolate covered macadamias your first night. Breakfasts were excellent. There's coffee and tea available starting at 7 a.m. and food from 8-9ish. There's always fruit juice (sometimes a fruit shake too), fresh cut fruit, including pineapples, apple bananas, papaya, and maybe kiwis, fresh bread, a self-serve omelet bar, and something else (first day cinnamon rolls, second day waffles, third day croissants, some with Nutella inside). There's also a koi pond and a jacuzzi (they heat it on request) that we didn't take advantage of. Lots of Canadians and Europeans stayed there (including a couple who were return visitors) plus a number of East Coasters. It's not the place to go if you want the high end luxury of the Fairmont, but it's great for those seeking comfortable accommodations for budget prices.

Excellent place to stay while in Kona. Very peaceful and quiet. Lovely breakfast and setting. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. Definitely would stay there again.
