I usually dont give bars 5 stars because they seldom sale good food and cheap beer at the same time, but, Rock Bottoms has been consistent the last four or five times I went. First, the alcohol, their happy hour is pretty much all day and includes 1.50 pints of steinlager, $6 coors light pitchers, $2 wells etc. Pretty damn good place for you alkies. Second, the food. They have a decent sized pupu menu and several specials of the day written on the board. I especially liked the garlic cheesy bread which is about the size of a buca di beppo pizza ( yet tastes so much better) for only $5. The cheese layer is thicker than the bread, its like a heart attack simulator covered with garlic. Their phillycheesesteak is huge, also an artery clogger, but a deal at $12 (def. share with someone, or be a fat ass). Parking is behind the bar, or risk parking in burger kings parking lot. oh yea, pool table, darts, internet jukebox, touch screen, and another bar upstairs.

The bar isn't so bad when it's not super packed, but this place can get crowded really quick! The pizza is a little soggy here and not all that great. But they've got a good beer selection and is a nice change from Anna's and the Varsity.

Cheap drinks...charge you a cover charge...the bartender needs to be more personable...cockroach on the bar...Ok....something wrong...I hope it did'nt come from my food.

Best bar in town! Cheap drinks and really good food. They have 6 dart boards and 4 pool tables both upstairs and downstairs. They even have a private karaoke room! Party! Service is what's best there. Both, bartenders and servers, are always attentive and have positive attitudes . I would highly recommend this bar to everyone. PS their bands on thurs through Saturday are the bomb. They have 3 groups already in the record making level, Hang 11, 82Fifty, and Unique. In addition they have many other regular bands that rock including Missing Dave, Pimpbot, Friendly Fyre, and my favorite 50 Dollar Eights. ****Don't forget AGN's Beer Pong Parties on Wednesdays. Rock ur bottom!!!

You want the YELP on this bar?? Alright.. Hmmm a friend and I went to HI for our birthdays last year. We were going to Ruth Chris for dinner but we forgot about the time they open. We had about 2 hours to play with so we went downstairs to "Rock Bottom" for a few cocktails while we wait.. Hmmm the drinks were cool, I forgot the names of the first drink we had but the bartender gave us 2 free shots.. Man they were bomb.com . They were oatmeal cookie shots and man we had about 5 of those and were nice and toasty after that. :) hahahaha. We tried the food another day and no bueno. It was alright but nothing to write home about.. The oatmeal cookie shots were by far the best on the menu.. Yes indeed. Hope this helps. :)

This is the usual place my husband and I go to watch the UFC fights, which seems like once a month these day. The food is pretty good, it is bar food, but it is good. The usual we get are the salt and pepper chicken wings ( you must have beer with this.. otherwise it will taste too salty, but with beer, it is perfect)! The spicy edamade is also our usual. I have tried to make this dish at home, but never really got the right flavor.. i think it is the chilly pepper water that creates the heat.. but let me know if you figure out what it is!! I also like their rib eye, it is nice and soft, usually the garlic and the mushroom topped off is the key element and the creator of that awesome flavor. i am also a fan of their Nachos! I am a no bean kinds gal, and this one .. or the one we order has no beans. It is very filling and yummy!

Typical hole in the wall (my kind of place depending on my mood). Wings are super good. Bartenders very friendly. A few sketchy characters at times but that's to be expected when drinking at a dive bar. Mostly filled with hardworking friendly people. The only thing I don't get is the dirty bathrooms.... Even the toilet scrubber is just thrown in the corner. To me, those are the little (and easy) things that show owner pride or lack of...

Yelp Challenge 365 # 27/365 Am I getting old? Do I live in a shoebox? I never knew of this bar until I saw some of my Yelper friends make comments. So a few of us gals go for a pau hana. Parking! What luck!!! Street parking for me directly in front of the entrance and a couple stalls behind me was my girlfriend. Upstairs are the pool tables and electronic games. It was not open when we were there. I am guessing its for the late night crowd and students from the nearby UH Manoa Campus. Commenting on the food= the hit with us was the pork chops. Surprisingly, I liked it better than the Charthouse lounge and Sidestreet's pork chops. their calamari meh! I think the oil was old.... no next time for the calamari. Asked for the spinach artichoke dip? out! none that night. Oh, pizza, can't forget the pizza.... pepperoni I think.... thin crust.... I've had better. The ambience was simply- like a sports bar. The drinks were okay I guess; I had some beer (from the bottle). Oh, we did try one of the shooters as our last drink. It was called "Hello Kitty" and priced at $3.50 Not bad for a shooter price. The floor is painted black; no carpet and that's indicative of the type of crowd.... Will I go back? I think so.... if I'm in the area and they are not crowded... If I had to pick one thing I liked of Rock Bottom? It would be their friendly staff and cool t shirts

University bar, totally! Complete with beer pong tourney! lol Stopped in on aTuesday evening recently, so it was a slow night. $1 pizza slice, but no choice of topping. Pepperoni it is! It was actually decently good, although very small slices. Beer was cold... yay! The girls behind the bar were attentive... the gentlemen there, less so. It might be worth another try if I'm in the area... 16/31 Yelps Challenge

If nothing else, Rock Bottom's name is a good description. While I was at UH, I came here twice when I wanted to go somewhere close, but wasn't feeling like going to Varsity. First occasion, the kitchen was no longer serving food at around 10:30 pm. Second occasion, came down in the evening with a coworker to get a beer after Manoa Gardens had closed. Halfway into our second round, a cockroach ran across the bar. I realize this is Hawaii and roaches happen, but come on. I don't care how cheap the beer is, there's no excuse for that. Come here only if you've already reached... Rock Bottom.

  • Randi J.

Good only when they have special bands playing. This is where I come when I'm feeling too ghetto for Varsity. Haha. Worst case scenario bar. Food here sucks. Sorry. Only tastes good when you've already had (more than) a few drinks. Service sucks too.

So I am biased because I do DJ here. In my defense, I've been here for a few years when it was under different management. Edo and the crew have been making strides to better serve the college crowd with awesome drink specials and great food. Tuesdays the Level H/AGN fam drops Slice, a great party with an awesome pitcher and pizza special! Beer Pong tourney every week and live djs! Thursdays goes off with myself in the video mix with mini pitchers ($4.50/$5.50 domestic/import $6.00 AMFs/flavored teas) on special as well as $3.50 hello kitty shots and $1 tacos!! Free parking, free Wi-Fi and great food make this a great spot to just han out with your friends to play pool, darts or just watch the game.

Went down to check out Missing Dave. The food sucked - small menu and a long wait. Waitress was frickin' awesome! (Of course, it helps when you're tipping well.) Shots were under 1.5 oz . Parking is pretty bad. And the beer pong table made me laugh. It was so small. Would I go back? Only if the buddies are playing music again.

One or two months a year, Rock Bottom becomes a highly frequent hangout due to the kickball season organized by 808 Sports League. It's a place I would generally not find myself. It's a dive, complete with pool tables, dart boards, wobbly tables and chairs, and Primo beer specials. Don't get me wrong, it's a hell of a lot more hospitable than, idunno, say, THE VARSITY, but it's still not my bar of choice. Despite this, there is a lot to come back for. The beer specials are (expectedly) great values, and there's always a "secret shot of the week" stashed in an unlabeled bottle, for any poor sucker that wants to throw caution to the wind and take a cheap buzz. Somehow, there is even sushi available upstairs, and I still haven't convinced myself to try it out. But, the food is amazing. Oh god, the food. We can start at the pizza - simplistic, and yet notably amazing at this bar. There's garlic cheese bread with marinara, incredible pepperoni, and a couple of other options. It's doughy, served hot on a paddle, and the cheese flows off of each slice as if it were pulled from a TV ad for Pizza Hut. And now we can talk about the sizzling ribeye, garnished with what seems like a half cup of chopped garlic and flanked with onion and mushroom slices. The smell alone will turn the collective heads of all bar patrons, and the sight of that fatty beef will convert any vegetarian to the sinful ways of the omnivore diet. Garlic fries and garlic edamame are slightly above average, and always a crowd-pleaser. The food generally runs between $10 and $20, but feeds an army. If stricken with "which dive bar should we go to tonight?" syndrome, pick Rock Bottom. There's AC, there's a staff of more than two people, the seats don't feel dirty and sticky, and the food is good. The Varsity? Nah, not so much.

This place is alike a hole in the wall bar. My friend and I got the cajun garlic fries along with the bbq chicken pizza. The pizza was alright, I've tasted better, but the fries were good. We also got a pitcher of beer. You can never go wrong with beer unless you don't like drinking beer.

Want to relive your college days of gritty bar hopping and late night sloppiness? Check in at Rock Bottom. It's not glamorous, it doesn't boast fancy concoctions made up of 5 different types of alcohols you can't pronounce, and it most certainly isn't one of those places to see and be seen. It's cheap drinks, decent food, and a good time. Rock Bottom is one of the sponsors of the sports league I play kickball in. (yes, I said kickball and no, I'm not 10 years old.) Happy hour after games alternate between RB and the Varsity. Rock Bottom has always proven to be fun times. We guzzle pitchers of Longboard, scarf down pizza, fries and nachos, and wake up the next morning wondering why civilized adults turned into college crazies at RB. It just does that to you. They offer a happy hour everyday from 2pm to 8pm: $2. Domestic Drafts, $3. Import Drafts $6.5 Domestic Pitchers, $8.5 Import Pitchers $3. Domestic Bottles, $4. Import Bottles $3. Wells Daily specials are offered from 8pm to closing. There are darts, pool tables, karaoke and a few fun games to drunkenly test your manliness, aka the punching bag game. The last time I was at RB I unwillingly tested my skill at mentioned game and, just as I suspected, I am not very manly at all. I'd like to think that I have personally outgrown bars like this, but it's always fun when going with the right group of people.

Rock Bottom aka Kimmy's Cantina aka Red Lion, you will always hold a special place in my heart. Back in my college days, I visited you quite often then stumbled to Star market then home. Yes, you are ghetto, but you have a way of winning over broke college kids with your Dollah Ballah Thursdays and live music. Now, 2 years after my last visit, you are still the same (without the Mexican murals and Donkey Show signs painted on the walls). Even though there is no more Star market and I don't live down the street anymore, you still treat me well with good times to be had by all. A friend of mine described it best, "When you play here, you are playing and drinking with friends". Go here, have fun, get wasted then stumble home...safely.

I go here weekly. Amazing spot. Great staff and an incredible dive bar. If you like dives, loads of TV's, pool, darts and beer pong, go to RB. There are some places that need to be updated, but all in all it is a great spot. Ample parking in the burger king lot. GREAT SPOT...GO GO GO!

Management did their best to fix the problem, but it was ridiculous!!! We started off the night ordering off the happy hour menu, at 7:40 pm. Nachos, Garlic Chicken, and a pitcher of bud light. The two entrees were supposed to be $5 each. Happy hour ended at 8 pm. At the end of the night when I tried to close my tab I noticed that my tab seemed high. I asked the bartender for a breakdown. He offered me receipts of only the charges and not what was actually ordered. (no big deal, as I didn't order that much). I noticed that they overcharged for the food and pitcher. I told the bartender that we ordered the food during happy hour. He pointed to receipt and said that it was rung in at 8:16 with a smirk on his face. I asked if I could talk to waitress that was still working at the time. I thought that it was great because my fiancee and I talked to the waitress when she brought our food and I was pretty sure that she would remember when we ordered, especially since the bar was almost completely empty at the time. I confronted the waitress and explained the situation, she apologized and said that she would take care of it. Hooray! I thought... boy was I wrong. After a brief conversation with the bartender, he smirked at me again, as if I was trying to get away with something, and said "the waitress said that you came in after 8, why would we lie to you?" ... "you're trying to tell me that we placed your order a half hour after you ordered your food!?" After being betrayed by the waitress that told me she would take care of it, I responded by saying "no, we ordered before 8 and got our food a few minutes later. We even received our food before 8." After trying to summarize what we talked about earlier to the waitress to clear the record for the misguided, over zealous bartender, she stated to my face that we came in after 8 and told me that I had to pay the entire amount on the bill?... OMG, are you serious? How could she be so sure of herself when I was certain that we ordered before 8. Feeling like I have nobody on my side and only having my word, as well as my sober fiancee to substantiate my claims, I felt absolutely helpless and victimized. I told her to forget it and that it was okay because I just wouldn't tip her... I turned around to low and behold, my sober fiancee to the rescue!!! I briefly explained what was happening and she said "oh, I took a picture of the food and posted it on instagram." YES!!!! Evidence!!! the time stamp proves that the picture was taken before 8 pm!!! Mind you that I had a fair amount to drink... I felt disrespected and chastised by the rude bartender and delusional waitress... I stole the phone from my fiancee and asked the bartender if he wanted to bet me about what time we got our food. He said "No!, but we can take it outside!" (wow, reallly?!) Keep in mind, that the back and forth of me trying to plead my case was quite extensive, the whole time with him being extremely rude. In the mean time the waitress grabs an off duty bouncer, some big samoan dude and he grabs me in front of the whole bar, repeatedly yelling "what mfer you got a problem!?" The manager notices and asks what the problem is. He instinctively reacts by saying that the waitress that rung up the bill was gone for the night and there was no way to know for sure what happened... but that is quickly dispelled when we tell him the waitress was actually still working. I explained the problem to him, showed him the proof on my fiancee's smart phone instagram post (thank you instagram!) and he looks at the picture of the dish and he says "what size did you order?"... I responded, "we didn't order a particular size, we ordered off the happy hour menu, I didn't even know, nor was told there were any other size options." He said "yeah, well I can tell by the picture that you got the bigger size, that's why we charged you for it." I said, "well don't you think that should have been disclosed to us when we ordered?" He agreed and apologized by saying that the waitress was kinda new there, I didn't feel whole again, not even close. I had a rude bartender, a rude waitress, a bouncer grabbing my shoulder and threatening me, and an manager who was quick to come up with a story to make excuses. He said "well sometimes, customers are wrong and sometimes employees are wrong, you know?" LOL, whatever, doesn't explain or justify the way I was treated. He reached into his own pocket and handed me a $10 bill and said "this should more than cover the difference and also to please delete the facebook post." My fiancee responded by reassuring him that nothing bad was written, (not yet at least) that she just took a picture of food and posted what she ordered. He said okay and apologized again. Despite the drama, I thanked him for helping us and we closed the tab and left. Could I have handled the situation better?, yes, I certainly could have. But, all things considered, they messed up on too many levels. Never again!

Came to see the ufc fight, they had a sign at the door advertising. No one to take cover so I walk in and see some prelims. At the time of the fight they turn the channels and text busy bartender says they are not showing the fight and I should have known since I didn't pay cover. Wow, I come to spend money and you make me feel bad? the worst mannered help...

Rock Bottom doesn't look like much when you first walk in, but the friendly and consistent service is sure to win you over. Many first-timers think the bar is the place to be, then they discover the upstairs area and think THAT is the place to be. The REAL "place to be" is to the left of the entrance next to the punching machine. You get a few patrons who've had a good amount to drink, challenge them to see which of them can get the highest score, and apply a steady flow of drinks to said crowd- you have yourself a winning night. By the by, BEST GARLIC FRIES EVER. The garlic is fresh and plentiful and has a better flavor than other places that are known for their garlic fries.

Came here on a Tuesday night and they have great prices. You can get 2 pitchers of beer and a pizza for $20. That is a great deal, they also have $3 pitchers. They have pool tables upstairs and a small dance area. Not sure if it is legal but parked in the burger king parking lot for free. Honestly we spent $50 bucks Tuesday night and left with a pretty good buzz. The pizza was surprisingly good and for our beer we were drinking blue moon, it is however $2 extra per pitcher for the imports. Still its not that bad for the beer. We also ordered the Calamari and fries and the calamari sauce was awesome. It had just enough kick to it and was really good with the fries as well. Not sure about the other nights, but Tuesdays are definitely a good night to stop by here.

Came here to listen to a friends band. They were excellent! $3 red stripes, can't beat that! cheap college bar and late night hang out. didn't order any food since we just came from dinner. TIP: not a lot of parking, so be prepared to street park!

I've passed by this place over the past few months and didn't really consider going in - it didn't look appealing. I remember when it was Red Lion, I only went there once. As the name goes - I just don't get it - but the food was good and the drinks and drink prices were excellent! I watched the table one over from us get a sizzling plate of ribeye steak and shrimp ... it smelled delectable and with the way it disappeared so quick - it probably was. I ate a veggie pizza which was just right - thin crust which was so very DEEEElicious - and the even spread of vegetables and cheese made me share it with others. So, then I had to order the garlic cheese bread - which is a cheeze pizza with garlic and cut into rectangle slices instead of triangles. Again, really great taste and went well with my patron margarita. Good food, good prices - good place!

Grimmy is the first adjective that comes to mind when I think of this place. Although there are 2 floors it still feels relatively small. I've been here several times after a group kickball game. It's always great to hangout with the team; however when its EXTREMELY loud that kind of takes the fun away because you find yourself yelling across the table or sitting packed like a bunch of sardines just to hear one another. I guess that's what you get when you go a a bar though right? Food, I've had better at other establishments. One other thing which I'm not sure how this.establishment gets away with is paying a cover fee after a certain hour. I can understand some other clubs and bars downtown but not RB. If I had a choice I'd rather be caught at Varsity.

Came here to watch the girl-on-girl-on-girl action here last week Friday. Three bands, all fronted by female singers, came together for one night here to rock da place out: Stinkeye, Vice Vicarious, and da resident band, Friendly Fyre. It was 21+ and over, thank Buddha, and the $5 cover included one drink. What a deal! No having to deal with newly-minted "adult-children" (18-year-olds) getting their party on, and got to watch some great live music for a steal. Yup, the old Red Lion Waikiki and, if you're as ancient as I am, it was Bedroq back in the early 2000's. Reasons to come here: - Cheap cover! - Drinks and pupus (appetizers) are reasonably priced. - Parking is available in the Burger King parking lot - just take up the two lanes of parking FARTHEST AWAY from the fast food joint, or try street parking in the area, or in the lot across the street. - Supporter of live music! Their resident band, Friendly Fyre, plays a mix of cover rock/alt/ska stuff and some original fare.

Not the best place if you want good drinks. But their service was good and their bartenders are friendly. Drinks here are fairly cheap also. This place is located down a back road behind Burger King on Beretania. It's in the area of the Varsity bar near University.Parking is hard to find but we were told if we came in after 5 PM that we could park in the Burger King Parking lot. It's not the nicest place but this dive bar has great food. Only thing I can complain about is that they don't know how to make certain mixed drinks. I asked for a Soco and lime and I got a warm shot of Soco with a lime wedge on top. Who drinks a shot of Soco and lime warm and why wouldn't they mix the lime juice in the shot before? That makes more sense to me and I've always had my Soco and lime shots like that elsewhere. They have darts upstairs, beer pong, and pool. It's perfect for a private party if you are looking for something relaxed where you don't have to dress to impress.

This review is directed at the pizza, if you're looking for a place with pizza , beer and a relaxed atmosphere, I would recommend rock bottom, happy hour from 2pm-8pm has $7.50 pitchers which is perfect for splitting! Their pizza is $8-$10 dollars and surprisingly really good and light! Go to any night when you just wanna chill!

This use to be called "Red Lion" university, but they just changed their name to Rock Bottom. What can I say about this place? They usually have Fosters for $1.50, "Taco tuesday" $3 corona, $1 tacos, $2 tequila shots. Basically the same things you would find at red lion university with a different name on the door and new paint job. They also have a different food menu.

This place is pretty great. Good vibs and great music. They have a punching game, dart board, beer pong, pool, and of course mini kegs. There are so much to do here and with the right crowd you can have one night. They stay open til 2AM every night and its a good place to go with no other options. They have lots of taps and a good selection of beers and hards to choose from.

Disclaimer: I'm a fan of dive bars, and RBs definitely qualifies. It has the ambiance of the type of place where they put the chairs on top of the tables at the end of the night and hose the place down. That said, I enjoyed my evening there. They have a surprising amount of beers on tap (somewhere around 10 I think), and the prices are good. We got a few pupus to share: sizzling steak, sizzling mushrooms, seasoned fries, nachos. I thought the nachos were as to be expected at a dive bar (just that yellow liquid cheese, canned jalapenos & black olives), but I was surprised at how good the sizzling steak and mushrooms were. Would definitely recommend them. Overall a great spot, and I would definitely go back!

There is a reason this place is called Rock Bottom (RB). We came here for a local fundraiser and to meet up with some friends. This was my first time here and possibly my last. It is a definitely a college dive bar, so don't expect anything fancy. Also, bring plenty of hand sanitizer. Besides the santitary issues, this place had great drink specials! We got mini long island ice teas for $8!

I go here all the time and they only charge cover when they have bands playing, it's their Tuesday beer pong tournament nights, or they're showing UFC events. I know for a fact that when they charge for a cover they always have sick drink specials. If you can't pull $5 out of your ass you might as well just stay home and play with your 8 cats.

Waaaaayyyy hidden in some corner, alley, behind Burger King, and around the corner from Bubbies's homemade ice cream.... this place serves some yummy bar food! The yum-yums: Calamari, french fries, sizzling mushrooms, Philly's cheesesteak. The topping to the yum-yums: happy hour beer! And hanging out on the 2nd floor sort of makes you feel like VIP.... or almost. Parking is at Burger King. No happy meal required. And they sponsor 808 Sports League Kickball.

Yelp 365 Challenge 2015 #19/365 I've been to this bar a few times now, and I like their drinks and drink specials, but the place is really raggedy. If you're looking for a clean, high-end bar with lots of people and expensive drinks, then look somewhere else, because Rock Bottom is not it. I don't necessarily mean that in a bad way, though. Besides the fact that this place is kind of dirty and not super well maintained, it really is a good time. I like that RB has two floors, both with a bar on it. The bottom floor has a bar plus the load of dart machines, TV's, one of those punching bag machines that measures how hard you can punch while you're drunk, and even a beer pong table! Don't drink out of the cups though, unless you want to drink dirty water mixed with beer pong balls from the dirty floor. The second floor has three pool tables and another dart board. I think that they actually have karaoke rooms for rental, because I saw a sign about one and I saw the waitress go outside to another area that I've never seen before. Cool. Their drinks are usually pretty good, most notably their mini-pitcher specials! The first time I went there they had these AMF mini-pitchers, boy did those hit the spot. This last time I went, they had Heineken mini-pitchers for $6.50, well worth it. On my last visit with my brother and cousins, it was a Saturday night, and surprisingly not busy for the entire evening. That was cool, because who actually likes crowds and waiting in line for drinks? Not me! We sat downstairs but eventually made our way to the second floor for some pool, where we spent the rest of the night. Only $1 a game! All in all, I always have a fun time at RB, because I'm not a super-high maintenance guy when it comes to bars... I can deal with the ghetto-ness and stinky bathrooms if there's a good price for drinks and things to distract me from its flaws. Cheers!

Went in. Got carded. And after we were set, the bouncer leaned in and said something. After we were carded. "I'm sorry?" "Five dollars." "I don't want whatever it is you're selling." "It's a five dollar cover." Before 11pm. At a fucking bar. For what? I'm gonna pay you $5 for your permission to drop exponentially more for your food and drinks? Idk how I was supposed to have fun after experiencing those vibes, so I left. He looked like he was going to pocket the cash if anything. I'd feel loads better with a girl and a register nearby bc seriously, are you pull out my change from your ass? I don't want whatever it is you're selling. I put an extra star bc I probably would've had a blast there based on how chill the place looked. It had good vibes. Had. There was a huge sign outside advertising all their specials and no inkling of a possible cover. Even after perusing all these yelp reviews, I had to really look in order to find any mention of a cover. So do you or don't you? Make it consistent otherwise your patrons are going to feel wronged, amiright?

RB is the regular spot for a bunch of us. Probably what brings us back again and again is our favorite bartender, Leah. She treats people right--acknowledges you when you come in, or belly up to the bar to chat, order pupus, or ask her to make you something different in the way of drinks. It doesn't matter if you're a girl or a guy, Leah is there for you. Oh yeah, and the Cesar salad is pretty good too.

So I just read a review about this take out order for this guy that came in for the 49ers vs Seahawks game that was on December 14 on a Sunday and he just posted about his service on three days ago... I come here all the time on Sundays for my games and obviously if you order take out then start to eat at a table and not address to the waitress that your going to din in then you won't get your water unless you let her/him know. .. I tired to order the NFL package at home and realized what it costs which was something I could not afford so I come down to RB SPORTS BAR to enjoy the food and atmosphere here on Sundays.. so to say that you didn't have service on a take out order that you wanted to sit in a watch the game for is a misunderstanding to the bar and waitress that busts her ass on Sunday to satisfy her costumers that come in ... P.S .. A take out order is s take it order

I've gone here on numerous occasions, at various times and days of the week, for planned events and random, spontaneous stop-bys. And I'd have to say that this bar never fails you. There's always a non-asshole bartender working, a bouncer whose not a jerk, yummy beer on top, drink specials and crinkle fries! I've never been bothered by obnoxious patrons. Everyone just seems to be there to have a good time, chill and relax. Often, there's a live band playing that take requests and attempts to play songs they have to look up on their iPhones. There's two floors to this bar, with pool tables and a separate bar upstairs. And they serve food! Not just pupus. All in all, this bar may not look like much when you walk in, but it surely makes up for it when you sit down, take a breather and chillax.

Thirsty Thursdays is where it's at! This sports bar might be a little beat up on the inside, but I am rating it strictly on the drinks, service and how much fun I had! Came here with a couple of friends to take part in their thirsty Thursday specials... That means "mini pitchers" for $6! You can get amf mini pitchers or long island iced tea mini pitchers. They were delicious too!! If I had to describe the taste, id probably say it tasted closest to lemonade. Couldnt taste the alcohol at all. And for $6? So worth it. We also tried the twilight and rumchata shots. Go for the rumchata, everyone. The twilight shot had an after taste of cough medicine (in my opinion). Good thing I had a mini pitcher to help wash it down :D! Our server was really nice too. Always checkin up on us and asking us if we wanted to order another pitcher.. haha. OF COURSE WE DO! She was the one who introduced us to the rumchata shot because we told her how we werent in favor of the twilight one. The rumchata one is delicious!!! It tasted like milk. Sweet milk. The bartender was very nice too! Spent practically the entire night playing darts. The dart machine made some errors but at least those errors were in my favor, right? (I suck at darts). Our group and another group were also the only ones in the back area of the bar and that was nice. I dont like it when bars are too crowded. It also meant no one was waiting to play darts so we could hog the machine! I havent been here on any other day besides Thursday so I cant say I know what the atmosphere is like on any other day. Heard the live music is cool though! This place is definitely worth being my 100th review. I would describe it as the phrase "never judge a book by its cover." It may look janky, but I had so much fun!!

Stopped in to catch the first half of the Niner-Seahawks game and lunch before work. My job is nearby and since I was really looking for a mellow atmosphere RB seemed like the logical choice. The place was dark really grungy looking with about 10 people watching the games. I didn't mind the vibe at all because all I needed was some food and a flat screen TV. I ordered a hamburger steak plate to go that took about 10 minutes, not long at all considering the game kept me occupied. There was only one bartender on duty at the time (bad sign during football season) Communication between myself and the bartender consisted of 1.) placing my order 2.)paying for my order 3.) receiving my food and 4.) being ignored (twice) when I asked for a water and the bartender failed miserably. I stayed to watch the game about 10 minutes after finishing my hamburger steak (7.5 out of 10 btw) and the bartender came by and said that if I want to watch the game there was a two drink minimum after I just spent $8 for lunch. I understand that there's a good chance that someone placing a takeout order may not tip but I believe in tipping. I was about to break her off a few dollars just before "the two drink minimum" comment. Maybe not tipping on the initial check turned her off, IDK. Judging by the emptiness of the bar she probably could have used it. Tipping shouldn't determine how much adequate service someone gets. Adequate level service is the bare minimum customers require most times. It's one thing to be busy, stressed or completely over it at work. That happens to everyone at one time or another. Still, It's best to take care of your customers that you have at least at a "C" grade level, fake it if you have to. Especially when the place isn't even busy. No wonder the place was empty.

I'm part of a kickball league that does their post-game celebrations here. Not too bad! There's two stories with plenty of space if you're here with a large group. Pool tables both downstairs and upstairs. I only had drinks, which were good, but the food looks REALLY good. It looks like they serve a lot of typical bar food (chicken wings, nachos, etc.), but the portions are huge.

I really like this place..m.. I enjoy dive bars which offer plenty of parking...fairly priced pupu's, a kitchen which is open late and decent waitress service. Small details don't bother me.

it previously was Red Lion... and before that, a Cantina of some sort.... but now, its Rock Bottom, or "RB Sports Bar and Grill".... guess they've changed the name yet again. on a weeknight, this place is not bad at all. mainly b/c, most bars are pretty dead on weeknights, but damn, come on a weekend, and good luck trying to find parking! if you're coming here to eat, be sure to get the "Off the menu" fried hamburger loco loco, or their garlic chicken. the chicken katsu is good too.... but damn, that loco moco was delicious! they have $1 pizza slices every tuesday 8pm - 2am, beer specials by the glass and pitcher, but i imagine this makes the place crazy busy b/c of the cheap eats! they also make 1/2 pitcher long island iced teas O_O not here for food? they also have TV sets around to watch whatever, beer pong tournaments, dart boards upstairs and down stairs, and 3 pool tables upstairs: yelp.com/biz_photos/rb-s… not bad! we'll see how long "RB" sticks around before it changes hands and names again....... :P

Really cool bar. Very close to a five star rating in my opinion. Just a few points to make me knock off a few points. It is a competitor to the very famous Tropics bar and grill across the street that many university students frequent on multiple occasions. However if you are looking for very very cheap beer and a place to make the same amounts of mistakes as an expensive bar then come here. The beer is cheap, the atmosphere is lively with video games, pool, and beer drinking game sections. There is an upstairs and a downstairs (obviously) with plenty of real estate and not too many people. There are a lot of televisions and modern music so be ready for a young crowd and a lot of dudes. Haven't tried the food and I have yet to come here for a sporting event but believe you me I will be back for the two one day. I definitely recommend this place! Almost five stars!!!!!

This place sucks! I walk in to a dead dirty bar to eat dinner with my girlfriend and sat for the better part of 15 mins and the waitress/bartender didn't even greet us or care to take a drink order. She even went as far as walking to the table of ppl next to us twice and still nothing. I'm not a hard ass about restaurants most of the time. This is actually the first review I've ever posted about a bar. I'm sittin in here right now cuz my girlfriend actually wants to stay and eat since we took a $15 can to try this place. It's now been 28 mins since we got here and still nothing. My girl went to the bar to order the beer and when the bartender brought them she literally just sat them down and walked away. I have my menu wide open. This place isn't even busy. Just epic terrible lack of service. #barrescue

I've always wondered how this place was and finally got a peek inside. On a Friday afternoon they had a good amount of blue collared customers relaxing after a long week. You can see that their beer pong special is popular since the table sits out proudly by the window. Prices are great for drinks and food! Would definitely come back and try to hang out before the college crowds gets in.

So far its ok. I don't get what the $5 dollar cover charge was for. Maybe beer pong equipment? I don't go out to bars much, when I do, I usually don't get charged for cover, unless there's a special event there. Clubs on the other hand, totally expected. So specials on "beer pong night" Tuesday. $1 pizza slices, $3.50 creamsicle shots, $6 tea pitchers (longisland, tokyotea, etc.,) $5.50 heineken and Heineken light mini pitchers. I had a mini pitcher of long island, i enjoyed it. It gave me a buzz although it was super sweet! It would probably take two to faze me. Not a mai tai to brag about. Didn't try any of the appetizers. Jukebox music, song selection wasn't bad the night i went, accompanied by an MC. surrounded by flat screens playing football. Round tables for groups, upstairs was a bit smaller, I noticed there was a patio area, but i think it was closed off at the time. The upstairs seemed a bit smaller. The entire place wasn't anything that wowed me. It looked a notch lower than the typical local bar, if i were to compare it to joints like home or mai tais. The highlight of the place is probably the nice clean, bar set up. I would come back if i was hanging out with a group of friends that enjoyed hanging out around another group of drunk college guys playing beer pong that drank pitchers of over sweetened maitais after getting charged $5 for cover.

We came here to watch Monday Night Football. Would I come here again? Sure, but I hope to get the seating I want. I was there well before kickoff, and the bar was not busy. I got my pick of the seating and chose tables in front of their biggest TV on the ground floor. There are two floors but only one bartender/server for the entire bar until 8pm; therefore, better to stay on the ground floor as it is quicker to approach the bar to order more drinks/food. If I can't choose the few prime seats, I would be stuck watching on the smaller screens. RB could probably use some larger screens and perhaps a better audio system for the sports events. As I mentioned, only one bartender/server until 8pm. On this Monday, we had Alana, and she was great. Of course, with the bar so busy, if I wanted to get a drink, I had to go see Alana at the bar. She would take my order and swiftly deliver the drinks to our table. Fast service! The food is pretty good here, and I don't have much complaints. we ordered the garlic chicken, nachos w/chicken, and the kahlua pork quesadilla, hamburger steak, and chicken katsu. The pork quesadilla, hamburger steak, and katsu were good: I would order these again. The nachos had a healthy serving of shredded chicken but I thought it could've used more of the other toppings--more salsa, more sour cream, etc. The salsa was served on the side in two small cups, but I think 2 cups isn't enough for the amount of chips served. It wasn't exactly fully loaded, but I have had worse--2.5 stars for the nachos. I really liked their garlic chicken. It had a good flavor and the pieces were sizable chunks of chicken. by comparison, other bars would offer chopped chicken bits while RB gave chunks. I would take chunks over bits anyday. Also while not crispy like some eateries make their garlic chicken, RB's wasn't overcooked, stiff, or gummy. 5 stars for the chicken! On MNF, they had specials on drinks that my group took advantage of. $4.50 mini pitchers for bud & bud light. $5.50 for other draft beers. A mini pitcher will serve 2.5 pints so that basically comes out $2/glass--a pretty good rate. Good food, fast service, and cheap drinks makes for a good bar!

I like this bar. It's really close to where I live, it has air-conditioning, and lots of seating since there are two levels. There are dart boards in different sections of the bar, also available on both floors. Upstairs, there is a private room which is also used as a karaoke room. I haven't seen many people go in there (more fun for me) and it's $1/song. There are also three billiards tables, which is $1/game. The bouncers are weird. I don't know why they try to intimidate me or size me up, of all people, like I'm going to start some crazy bar fight or use a fake ID. However, I like the servers, they're pretty nice and consistent. I haven't tried any of their mixed drinks yet, so I can't comment on the bartenders. The prices are reasonable (from what I "remember") as far as shots and pints go. There are only two flaws I see in this bar.... One is the leaking air-conditioning on the left side of the pool table on the left. There used to be a bucket that caught all the water, but I guess it got in the way of people's games and now they just let it drip on people and the carpet. Sometimes there is live music (wacky music) or a sporting event, and you have to pay a cover charge. Sometimes it isn't worth it but if you're willing to deal with big loud crowds or music that doesn't make sense to you, go for it.

Not my cup of tea, but I'd pay this place another visit. I went here after some friends' kickball game. I was a little reluctant at first, but ended up having a great time. The food / pupus that we had were great. Garlic fries and garlic edamame are always a hit no matter what; however, these seemed a little better than average. They were very garlic-y, without being overly oily and gross. I'd definitely get these again. The nachos were pretty generous in terms of toppings and size. The chip-to-topping ratio was portioned out well and there were two small cups of salsa. As for service, it looked like there was only one bartender upstairs, but the place was PACKED. The bartender did a great job with running out the food and serving up the drinks. Definitely not my scene, but I feel like it could grow on me. I'll more than likely be back... But with friends. A lot of them. LOL. Yelp 365 - #327/365

It's definitely a "local" spot with an interesting crowd. They have a karaoke room in the back that is pretty cool. Rent out the room and $1/song karaoke. They also have 3 pool tables which can be turned into beer pong. We had a few pupus and the garlic chix was really good and smelled up the joint. I will be back for a chill night.

Five stars for a cheap dive. We Love. Love. Love. This dive. Yes, it smells a little funky. Yes, it is a bit dirty. Yes, it can be empty on a week day, BUT it is amazingly cheap! I was order Kona Longboards for a $1! I used to come here in college, then law school, now whenever I visit home. It's walking distance from our apartment. I highly suggest looking at the board for specials because they have some great ones. I tried the food when I was in college, but haven't eaten there since. So, I can't really give an accurate account of the food, but it smelled good as it passed by!

I love this dive bar. The drinks are cheap, the bartenders are cool and it's super casual. With that said, it's not the cleanest , it's tiny and the parking sucks. But dive bars are supposed to be "not the cleanest" and tiny. There are a bunch of TVs, they get some good bands and DJ's and they show UFC fights and Sunday morning football. There is a pool table, 2 dart boards and certain nights of the week beer pong. The food is pretty good. I would suggest the fries or the steak. Skip the chicken wings! Some time there is a cover, this drives me nuts for a dive bar, but I haven't seen it more then $5. The cheap drinks make this place good, the staff makes this place great!

Rating: 3/5 Date visited: 9/20/2013 Food: 3/5 Service: 2/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 Price: 3/5 Parking: 3/5 If this establishment didn't have the awful stench of beer on the floor that has never been bothered to be cleaned properly, I would definitely be a regular. This place has much potential. Food: I was surely surprised with what I had ate. The nachos were pretty good. Service: Servers were somewhat attentive. Atmosphere: I like the layout. The position of the stairs reminds me of an old "Western Saloon." Great location, but it can be so much more. Price: Okay. Parking: Street parking and a Pay Parking lot across from it.

I always cringe when people talk about coming here. This bar has changed it's name so many times over the years but the vibe remains the same. It's basically a bar you go to while you're in college. Can we say beer pong? Yes, there was actual beer pong happening inside! I came here last night to have a few after volunteering at the Moili'ili Summer Festival. They were charging a $5 cover to get in because they were showing the fight. We were like forget this, let's just go to the Varsity bar. Apparently, the Varsity bar was closed? That was strange since it was a Saturday night. Did they close down permanently? Anyway, we went back to RB and paid the stupid cover. It wasn't as bad as I remembered it, but I still wouldn't come here if it was up to me. It's still shabby and dirty, but they have pool tables, darts and lots of TVs. Menu is typical bar food and you can order beer by the pitchers.

A cool bar close to UH that's perfect to drink, eat and play games. My friends and I normally go to tropics across the street, but since the line was long to get in, we figured we would try rock bottom. There's a beer pong table, darts, & pool tables up stairs. The atmosphere was chill with a bunch of college aged people. They seem to cater towards younger adults, buts it's not limited to only the younger crowd. It wasn't too crowded and the bartender was very friendly. For the Thursday specials, it was definitely a good deal and the bartender did not skimp on the alcohol. There was also a menu for food that looked good. Next time if I'm there, that's what I want to try.

being the kind of renegade, outcast nerd that i view myself as, was looking for a loser bar to go where i can wallow in misery and pretty much just get messed up. Rock Bottom.. not really a place for the pitiful. i would describe it as college scene. the music is good XM radio i think with jukebox, a pool table, flatscreens all around for sports. they get plenty local celebrities ranging from local band performances, models, tattoo artists, racers, mma atheletes, triathlets, and is chill even when theres no events either. as live as it gets, its not anywhere close to cancoon or something like that but hosts a internationally diverse crowd. we usually just party in clicks because anything can happen in hawaii: opihi man from maui might offer u the freshest catch, a tweeker could shake flees from his head onto u (i not talking about just a little either), u might buy auto, home, & life insurance from an allstate agent, or might meet another fellow on rock bottom and share problems. i'm telling u transactions goes down and the haters can't stop it. the thing about locals or asians at least, we love to gossip so if u do something stupid, u could end up on the front page or word could get out to someones grandma or authority figures. but no worry. lets just say if i was 10 years younger going to college, Rock Bottom is a decent bar to party it up... if its not past your bedtime....=P
