Now located at 1805 Liliha Street as of February 2014, I can say the following about the food. First, note that I ordered one food plate--BBQ beef. Fresh - freshly made and served food. Taste, I would give 3 to 3.5 stars. Somewhat tasty but I would prefer more flavoring from the Korean sauce. The plate says it comes with daily vegetables, meaning 4 servings of different types of vegetables; however, you don't get to choose them, and one of the selections was a macaroni salad--hardly a vegetable. The rice to me was perfect! Pricing is slightly high, perhaps 15% above what I would normally have paid elsewhere for takeout Korean food. I think the facility needs a ventilation fan in the kitchen because the smoke filled the tiny dining area. Parking is excellent with their own lot that is shared with the craft store next door, Creations By You. Sitting inside it is bearable now in February--the tail end of Winter. By May you will know if it becomes unbearably hot to sit in there by the mid-afternoon. The location photo that is presently up there needs to be updated because it depicts to old location that was on the next block. Their menu selection is pretty broad. Sushi, Korean plates, Local plate lunch type dishes and some sort of cold tea fruit flavored drinks. Just an observation, but that is an impressively broad selection for such a small location. What I really object to is having gaming machines in the eatery which seems to attract the wrong crowd. I would not bring children there because of the presence of these machines. This alone made me choose two starts instead of three. This seems to be the 2nd location for Ono Sushi which used to be located the next block down next to the Chinese takeout place Hoy Tin Chop Suey. As always I the entrepreneur well in their endeavor. Would I go back there? Probably. There is no other Korean food place in the near area. The prior proprietors of Mama'S Korean BBQ in that same area had food which to me was tastier. At that price I can go down the street to Jane's Fountain and sit down to eat better tasting food. These are my opinions, and YMMV.

I really wanted this place to be good. The location is great for me, I love sushi, and the owners/workers were great and personable. Unfortunately the sushi was terrible. The rice had no flavor and was hard and not fresh. I always worry about eating sushi/seafood from places that might not have high and quick turnover........don't want to get food poisoning! Luckily, I did not get sick from eating the sushi......the seafood (fish, shrimp, etc,) wasn't fresh but it also wasn't slimy or fishy smelling or rancid tasting..... I always think about the commercial....don't eat sushi from a gas station convenience store....... As much as I want this place to succeed, I can't go back. Sorry......

Ono Sushi is located on the corner of Liliha and School. This is the old Mama's BBQ location. The lady owner was very nice and she makes some delicious food. Here's my take: I ordered two dishes - The first dish was the Kalbi Plate ($11.99) and the second dish was a combo of Kalbi and Bulgogi ($11.99). The kalbi here is delicious and TENDER! Loved it! They used the fancy large bone short ribs (not the thin sliced 3 bone LA style kalbi meat) and they pre-cut the meat into cubes to make it easy to eat. The second plate of Kalbi and bulgo gi was a generous portion of each meat. The bulgogi meat was very thickly sliced, which is not typically what you expect from the typical thin sliced bulgogi. I didn't care for the bulgogi as much as I did for the Kalbi. The menu board says taht you will get 4 choices of the daily kimchee / veggies. It is THEIR choice of side panchan dishes. I got pepper bean sprouts, cabbage kim chee (very bland with little taste), 4 slices of yellow takuan (daikon radish) and macaroni sald (not a favorite - it was mayo and macaroni with little flavor). I would think that the $12 you pay for a plate is a little pricey. But the meat used on the Kalbi is quality. I wouldn't mind paying $12 if the panchan was better. Food Grade: B Service Grade: B Worth the Money Grade: C Oveall Impression: B-

I like this place, they are friendly and their food is yummy. Their Unagi and Spicy Ahi donburi is awesome. You have to try their bubble drinks too. Happy customer

Awesome! New Liliha eatery and it's sushi! The owners said they opened a week ago and they seem really nice. I purchased a spicy ahi roll which was good. Definitely going to try their bubble drinks next. I think their prices are a little higher than average but I wouldn't mind trying more of their items when I'm nearby.

I live nearby so I tried this place for the first time. The first thing I noticed was the man sitting at the front didn't greet me with a smile, since I'd just interrupted his watching TV and listening to music. I ordered the Spicy Ahi Temaki and the service was relatively quick; my hand roll was in a small plastic container and I was offered no shoyu or anything with my order; just a single old and cheap napkin. The Spicy Ahi roll is unlike any other I've had; the rice was not cooked well and it was DRENCHED in spicy sauce. So much so that I felt like they just put Sriracha in there for the heck of it. There was a good amount of Ahi but honestly it was just way too hot (even for me being a spicy-food lover) that I couldn't even taste it. Talk about overkill. And the price for it was just too expensive. My mom ordered a party platter from there once before and it was average at best. I won't be eating sushi from here again.

We went for a stroll on Liliha on a quest for bubble tea after working up a sweat exploring Foster Botanical Garden. I was really excited to discover Ono Sushi, which advertised having "fresh bubble drinks" in a variety of fruits. Score! I ordered the mango bubble tea, as well as an ahi tuna roll for my boyfriend. While waiting, I took a look around the place. I noticed a sign that said in handwriting, "We sell cigarettes," which I found odd. The small store has scarce seating and almost no decorations. It also has a very "new wood" smell to it, which makes sense because there is a lot of bare, cheap-looking plywood constituting this place. My initial impression was that this must be a cute mom and pop place that just opened up that would undoubtedly have something ono to offer. Unfortunately, I had no such luck. My mango bubble tea was not made with real mango, but some sort of powder. Ick! I could barely taste the mango flavor. The consistency of the drink was also pretty icy and there were even a few pea-sized chunks of ice hanging out in there. Even though the smoothie struck out in the consistency and flavor categories, I was certain that the tapioca pearls would be the redeeming quality, but this was the third strike. The pearls were everything I don't want: tough to chew, hardened by ice, too large to fit into the straw, totally flavorless, and sometimes crumbly. Yikes. My boyfriend's ahi roll smelled very fishy and he said it was just okay. He noted that fast food sushi places like Genko Sushi clearly have fresher fish than here. Even though my smoothie, the only thing I consumed here, deserves one star, I've decided to award Ono Sushi two stars because 1) service was quick and cordial, 2) the place is new and they're probably still figuring out how to run a good business, and 3) they must not have many customers yet, so they can't justify the expense of purchasing all that fresh fruit for smoothies. I wish this place luck for the future and hope that they will eventually be able to offer fresh fruit bubble teas with tapioca pearls that have been properly prepared!

This place is really great! I've been here a few times and I love how cozy it feels. So far, I've had three different flavors of bubble tea: coconut, mango and papaya made from fresh papaya's. You can really taste the freshness. Their unagi bowl and a few rolls. I'm an unagi (eel) fan which means it needs to taste great and fatty. The closer to the belly, the better. The only bad thing is parking. Since I live down the block it's not a problem but for those that want to try this place out. You'll need to find street parking wherever you can find it.

I like their food but I was a lil put off tonight by the loud men that just kept drinking. He called the woman to the front but it took awhile for her to come out. It would have been a lot better if he had acknowledged us in English and told us she would be with us shortly. I thought that was a lil rude so even though I like the food, I had to give them 3 stars today.

Parking is really bad. There is only one parking stall available in front of this establishment. On top of that, both the foods and prices were horrible. The sushi we bought didn't taste fresh and the prices for them were too high.

Only tried the garlic chicken plate, which was pretty good. The place is small and is more for take out, but they do have one table inside. They apparently have lunch plate specials and have prepared sushi pre-packed for quick snacks. The prices are a little higher than the normal plate lunches and the portions a little small, but I have a soft spot in my heart for hole in the wall places. The staff was also very friendly. I will be back.

Place was pretty empty. Prices kind of pricey. Ordered curry with chicken and it was just curry with dice carrots. Don't think I would go back.

i decide to give this new place a try. What a mistake. We stopped and see how reasonably price it was. we decided to order a few hand rolls. When we got our rolls the rice was warm giving the rice was fresh. In consuming the rolls, we all agree the rice was undercooked and probably not fresh. We felt it was a fluke and was going to give it another try until a friend told us they experience the same problem. They seen them nuke the rice before servicing and yuck, old nuke rice. I won't return until I hear better comments from friends.
