I would give them 5 stars if it wasn't the one time they forgot to include a meal and didn't want to walk all the way back. Great place to get a vanilla cone after surfing or body boarding in Waikiki. Can't beat the price. All meals come with a cup of pineapple. Lines are long but goes fast. Ocean view and great people watching.

This is probably the worst mcdonalds ive been to. Not becoz of their food but becoz of their customer service. This was our 2nd time to eat in this place during our 5day vacation (on a Labor Day weekend). It was the same service crew Eriko who served us. At our 1st visit, i was a little bit shocked coz its so unusual for a mcdonalds crew to be grumpy taking our orders. I thought, Oh well i think shes having a bad day. Then the 2nd time around, its her again with the same approach. I asked her for creamer and sugar and she stared at me blankly like for 5 seconds, and i repeated myself then again she stared at me for 2 seconds. I was like, was their something wrong with my face? Did she understand me? On that same time, i came again on the cashier to ask for cups for our water..this time i approached another crew but damn shes the same, she was also grumpy. And that ruined my morning! I hope the management in this location should work on their customer service. Mcdonalds suppose to be a happy place. But not this one! No no!

Super busy location! Always many staffs on duty either at the counter or in the kitchen. Service is very efficient. Store is kept clean. There is outdoor seating area too!
(4)Alexander G.
I'm not a huge fan of the McDonald's chain, but this one is the nicest in Hawaii. Located along Kalakaua with a view of Waikiki beach, it has a picturesque and bustling area. There are lots of hotels and shopping around, so it's a great place to stop for a meal or just a drink or ice cream. The building was recently remodeled and is very modern. It has ample outdoor seating, which is perfect to enjoy the ocean air and people watch. People watching is one of the greatest aspects of this location- you will never see stranger characters than while relaxing here. The food is typical McDonald's fare, consistent with other locations. They have a large staff, so the food is hot and fresh. Plenty of cashiers are also available, so lines don't get very long despite being busy. Prices are low. Free pineapple with your meal! Make sure to try the local Hawaiian items like taro pie!

This was a great day...as soon as the hand sanitation station needed more of the sanitzing wipes, she was quick to replace it and made sure that the wipes were well stocked and replinished so that people can use it to wipe their hands and keep their fingers clean when eating. I am glad to say that I got to have a great time and making sure that I am going to enjoy my meal. The good thing about this location is the self service drink station. I am glad that this location has self service drink station because you can pick and choose whatever drink you want and not worry about paying more since you already have the cup. The only thing that is needed are restrooms. I would like to see more restrooms inside in case people are in need of a restroom and not go anywhere else, which is a good suggestion as well as keeping it maintained. I am going to say that the lady was nice enough to take our trash for us, which was nice. I will be back the next time I am in the mood for a quick fix whether I am hungry or not.

I don't eat at McDonald's but I came here based on the good reviews on Yelp and the proximity to my hotel (I also wanted the pineapples). Service was great and the breakfast tasted amazing! Loved the iced coffees too. Good cheap meal if you're staying on the strip :)

Am I writing a review about McDonald's? Really? What's there to know about McDonald's that's so special? Well, when it comes to McDonald's in Hawaii, there's plenty. They don't do McDonald's like this on the mainland. First off: grease. There is none! Usually McDonald's is as oily as a beach babe working on her tan. But nope, not in Hawaii. No grease whatsoever. I couldn't believe it. Second: ultra crispiness & ultra freshness. I've never had hash browns so crispy.. so fresh. All of the food felt unbelievably fresh compared to the mainland. Third: Spam/Portuguese Sausage/Rice/Pineapple/Haupia Pie. 'nuff said. Hawaiian McDonald's definitely has higher standards of service than what I'm used to receiving. If you've never had McDonald's in Hawaii, don't write it off just because it's McDonald's. McDonald's will never be the McSame McStateside for McMe.

As someone who relies a lot on Yelp to help guide me to a good dinner, I try to keep things mostly light and positive. It takes a lot for me to take the time to negatively review something. That being said, I wanted to update my review of this particular McDonalds because as time has gone on, they have become much more fluid and consistent. I think once they got a handle on the increased business it was all uphill for them. Thank you!
(4)Brian M.
We stayed at the Pacific Beach Hotel and this particular Mcd's is right across the street. What can one say about Mcd's? Well this location being in Waikiki is pumping with a lot of tourist, but the staff is well trained and handles the large volume of customers well. They sure can get those orders out quick. One thing I noticed about this location was there was a few dogs that were in the dining area, animal friendly location? You're not going to see me complain about it. I thought they were so cute! *3.5 Stars
(4)Anthony M.
While in Oahu I had to have a plate with rice at the arches! Place was clean and service was very good. Place gets busy but food is served quickly. For a quick bite I would go here again.
(4)Maile N.
I like this McDs as it's in a great location on Kalakaua, and they have Hawaiian local foods like spam and portuguese sausage for breakfast and saimin the rest of the time. They don't have saimin listed on the menu, but it is available. I missed out on the haupia pie - I need to try that next time!
(4)Jenny L.
Review based solely on the TARO PIE. If you find yourself lucky enough to be in hawaii, make sure you get your ass to a McDonald's ASAP. The taro pie is fried (!!!) and the filling is just sweet enough, gooey, warm and delicious. YOU HAVE TO TRY IT. BEST $1 YOU WILL EVER SPEND. That is all. Disclaimer: If you don't like taro, you probably won't enjoy this. Don't try it and expect some miracle pie that doesn't taste like taro #duh
(5)Karthikeyan M.
Went to this mc-d late night and saw a long queue. I thought it will take more time to get my order, but the service was really fast and got my order quickly, and its one of my favorite place :)
(5)John P.
Its your mainland Mcd's but with local favorites. First off this place is open 24 hours 7 days a week. In addition they offer spam and Portuguese sausage with eggs and rice plates for breakfast. Also all their combos come with pineapple. They used to have taro pies but when I came they had a coconut pie which wasn't as good as the taro pies. I also noticed some mcd's in Hawaii offer the mc rib...but I don't believe this one had it.
(4)Gio L.
McDonald's food will always be great. The clerk was just staring at us, no smile, no good morning at did not ask if we are ready to order. On the other hand, the other clerk was real helpful.
(1)Ed G.
Ok it's a 24/7 McDonald's in the beach. You know its gonna be a s*** show. It's packed with a plethora of esl tourists during the day. Standing room only at times. But you know the saying the freaks come out at night. This place turns into a crazy homeless camp after 2am with the occasional confused foreign tourist. These cats camped out should really learn to ask for change in other languages. They would make a killing. The homeless folks in my hometown are far scarier but I wouldn't walk down any dark alleys with these guys though. That said where else you going for a quick cheap bite to soak up the beer at 2am. Here.
(3)Cj S.
Decent. I like the new and improved Mcds. Too many drugies sitting and taking up all the seats though. The girls working the register like to chuckle at customers when they ask certain questions. I see it enough to bring it up. Young kids. Food order used to get messed up a ton, but not lately. It's not bad. Nice and convenient if your headed to the beach.
(3)Jenny T.
Worker coughed into her hand and wiped her nose before making my soft serve... Which she served to me with the same hand and not even with a napkin. Two stars because the location is clean and pretty (and next to the beach) but that is some serious healthy risk. Luckily (for me) I'm already sick so it doesn't seem to have affected me.
(2)Jason A.
This was the only McDonald's that I visited when I was on vacation here about a month ago, and actually, it's been recently renovated to include patio seating and is now a white facade (judging from the earlier photos here and online). I only went here for a quick breakfast before going out for a hike on Diamondhead. Not surprisingly, this Micky D's was quite busy at the early hours, despite it being the middle of the week. I guess if you're a tourist or visitor, it doesn't matter what day of the week it is, really, and, chances are you may be from the mainland, which is advanced in time anyway. Anyhow, I recall that this particular McDonald's was one of the cleanest and sleekest ones I've seen. The automatic doors were a nice perk, since most of them on the mainland don't have such luxuries. Also, the electronic menu was massive, animated and on high definition monitors, nearly wall to wall. I remember mentioning to my brother who was with me that we (as a society) have come a long way from the time employees would have to physically change the menu from breakfast to the regular daytime menu. Since I was here with my brother, our combined presence meant that we would soon have a tsunami of people following us closely (loyal long-time readers would understand this phenomenon). And sure enough, a minute or two after placing our order, we got a crush of people coming in and fighting for a table. My brother and I ended up eating quickly so as to free up our table to another patron. I know McDonald's adapts their menu to different countries, but the Golden Arches also changed it up a bit for Hawaii, despite technically being part of the United States. My brother was able to get Portuguese sausage, rice and eggs, whereas I got the traditional Egg McMuffin combination, with an added cup of pineapple slices. I initially questioned internally why my bill was slightly higher than what I expected after my credit card was swiped, and then it dawned on me that it was because they added the cup of pineapple with the meal (another $1.59) without necessarily telling you as a visitor that that's what they do 'round these parts. (You automatically get a cup of pineapple, and I couldn't remember if it was somehow built into the price of a value meal). The pineapple was surprising very sweet and actually good for what you'd find in fast food, though I found it an interesting flavor contrast to my usual coffee and sausage McMuffin. Anyhow, if you're going to Waikiki soon and have a hankering for some old fashioned McDonald's for breakfast, be ready for that cup of pineapple whether you like it or not.
(4)Shigeru Y.
A newer, shinier McDonald's situated perfectly to service tourists, beach goers, and late night shoppers. It's extremely convenient, but the electronic menu board is a pain to read, and it's missing items they offer like saimin. Still, a reliable, quick, CHEAP place to grab a drink or bite to eat!
(3)Kathy L.
Had to come here to try their special taro pie- that I have never seen anywhere else. Picked one up for cheap to have while enjoying the sunset one evening. Was similar to the standard apple pie (packaging and pie) with the deep fried, crunchy golden crust but with a different filling inside. Was surprised to see pale purple chunks of taro in the warm liquid. A unique flavour- worth giving it a go, if you feel like a warm pie or like taro. Good place to dine in if you need free wifi and very close to Waikiki beach which is also ideal. Standard McDonald's burger/ salad/meal menu.

During the vacations of my childhood, the endless stretches of road and never-ending loop of Barbara Streisand were broken up every two hours when my parents would stop to stretch their legs - usually at a McDonalds. So, McD's has become a sort of tradition whenever I'm on the road. This trip was no exception. The short version: Seating is terrible. Many seats are taken up by people texting, simply sitting, and otherwise using space without buying anything. Get your food to go. The long version: The service was exceptionally friendly. The food was what you expect from McDonalds, albeit more expensive than you might expect on the U.S. mainland (but if you live in Canada, like me, the prices seemed average). It was difficult to find seating. Many of the outdoor tables were taken up by random people who hadn't patronized the restaurant and were ready with a threatening glare if you so much as glanced in their direction. It wasn't much better on the inside, where lone people took up an entire table, sometimes two, as they texted, did whatever it was they were doing on their laptops, or read. I'd go again (I still haven't had the SPAM breakfast!), but, like I mentioned above, I'd get my food to go (and maybe go during daylight hours when it's less sketchy).
(2)Brenda A.
Its ridiculous how a billion corporation can't have a restroom for the customers are guys kidding me ! This deserves no stars but without one star I can't review there food is trash anyways
(1)John E.
Greatest McD's in the world. Clean and organized like none other. 4 stars because it's McDonalds
(4)Tia D.
Yet another breakfast dining experience outside of the "Resort Hotel", gotta love those golden arches, even in Hawaii. I had the portuguese sausage, rice and eggs (can't get that where I live). They also offer a cup of fresh pineapples with your breakfast meal, delish, to top things off I had the banana pie, it was delicious as well, I still crave it! We dined inside a fresh, clean and modern location directly across the street from the beach where we headed for a stroll afterwards. The service was cheerful as well, beware, the lines can get long my only issue was the employee calling out the orders was hard to understand, otherwise a pleasant dining experience with a lovely view.
(4)Chris C.
This mcdonald's is definitely busy because of its location so expect a wait for your order and unable to toss your trash because they neglect to staff someone in the eating area to take care of the cleanliness of the tables and get the trash cans emptied.
(2)Mary N.
plenty of seating. convenient place to stop for a soda. Taro Pies were delicious!
(4)Shaun E.
Great atmosphere generally filled with a lot of tourist traffic passing through to get a classic mcdonalds meal on the go. Very busy yet the flow of business is continually moving. There's a dollar menu even is the area of tourist traps unlike airport mcdonalds. Highly recommend this area if you're in the mood for some mcds.
(3)Mike F.
I never, ever figured I'd go to Hawaii and even entertain the thought of stepping into a MickyD's! But thats just what I did a couple of times. As much as I love Waikiki, it can get very pricey there very quickly. There were a few occaisions during the trip when we just wanted something quick and cheap to slam dunk so we could carry on with the day activities. This fit the bill perfectly without breaking the bank (unlike some of the other fast food places located near the beach..$10 whopper, are you kidding me?) Plus they have a few items here that you can't get at a McDonalds on the mainland. One of the breakfast meals has rice and portuges sausage! lol Rice at McDonalds! lol My friend got that on one of our visits and said it was better than Eggs N Things! They do have free Wifi available here as well. That can actually be annoying when looking for a place to sit down and you've got a number of people just chillin on their laptops and not eating....because this place is always busy! Like crazy busy...but with the prices it's easy to understand why.. other than all that its a standard McDonalds. The employees were nice enough and the prices kept us coming back...because sometimes you don't want to have to drop 30-40 bucks just to get a quick breakfast. 3 stars A-OK
(3)James B.
The food is crap and shouldn't be consumed by people who can afford a healthy sandwich
(2)Eily S.
I usually don't write reviews on fast food places but I had to for this one. Located right across the street from Waikiki Beach it is an easy trip for a snack after a few hours at the beach or to start your early morning with something quick but good. Also, all their meals come with fresh pineapple!
(4)Kelly L.
* Price: $, 5 star. * Ambiance: recently remodeled so it is quite clean and modern than typical Mc donald. 4 star. * Location: right across the beach, out door seating. Convenient after a long fun day! 5 star. * Meals: typical burgers, fries. Some local fare s like taro pies, fried rice, eggs and Portuguese sausages. 4 star. * Service: well trained staff, fast, 4 star. This is averaged to 4 star in fast food category for me! We can always rely on Mc donald for good breakfast or midnight snack. They open 24/7. The food is consistent! You know what you get here! In stead of waiting in line at Egg & things for breakfast, we came here... got our oatmeals, rice, eggs, sausages and coffee in less than 20 minutes. It is slightly charged more than main land's but not significant (we talking about quarter and dime here). So, if you are traveling on a budget or simply hungry and want a quick grind, this is the place... and we are glad there is Mc donald on waikiki!
(4)Mel L.
Close to our hotel and still serves DEEP FRIED apple pies - enough said
(5)Emma K.
Food here always seems stale to me. On top of that, they don't keep up with keeping the place clean - tables and seating areas arent wiped down immediately, my orders are consistently wrong, and really overall it just doesn't seem like they care. It's too bad the place is run quite poorly, because a lot of money was put into the renovations and this location gets a lot of traffic being on the beach side
(2)Erik H.
With all these computer systems at food establishments, how do you "lose" an order with just a few dollar menu items? After hearing what looked like a manager call for a couple taro pies numerous times, something that was on my order, I finally asked after 20 minutes where my order was. No apology given for having to wait so long. But I did get my food although it was somewhat cold. Never coming here again. I'll let the tourists deal with the incompetence at this McDonald's.

We needed to use a bathroom before our drive back to Waikiki. As a bathroom, this McDonald's was adequate. I ordered french fries because the bathrooms "are for paying customers only." It was the only McDonald's visit I made while in Hawaii and it was what I expected, which doesn't say much.
(2)Ksenia C.
Very very busy. They seemed to get the like to go down, but had a lot of mistakes and people complaining for wrong ordered ect. Ours was simple. And wasn't wrong. But couple different people before us were complaining. The sandwich seemed to be put in a hurry and a mess
(3)Mike N.
Ha! I love how people are giving certain stars to mcDonalds. It's McDonalds. It's the same everywhere. This one is on the beach and has fast service. I always get 2 cheeseburgers and small fries for $3.40

First day in paradise. Stopped at McDonald's on the way to surf for a quick breakfast with the family. Service good and food good. The front deck area was full of homeless people just taking up the tables, smelling and digging in the garbage. Not a homeless issue but a cleanliness and customer service issue. Body odor does not go with eating. People digging in the garbage and then touching tables, doors and counters is unsanitary. McDonald's needs to clean their act up.

Gotta love a McDonald's that serves Spam as well as Portugese sausage plates. And no matter what you get (white people's breakfast or what I listed above), they still give you a complimentary serving of pineapple. The best $9 I've spent in awhile :)
(4)Nick L.
When it's getting later, there aren't many places open for a quick snack. McD's thankfully fills up this space nicely. We noticed that the nuggets and fries tasted a bit different compared to the mainland but that didn't stop us setting a new record for downing them! I also noticed that from midnight to 3am (perhaps they close for a few hours) they serve theme breakfasts with Portugese sausage/spam dishes supplementing the usual suspects. Pineapple too?! Nice. There were a few sketchy people inside at this later hour but as there were still so many people around it didn't make any difference. Busy all the time this place.
(4)Sandwich Y.
I walked through the doors to be over come by the sour stench of urine and homeless people but luckily the five cash registers cleared the line quickly. I ordered a banana pie which I shipped back to the mainland for my friend to enjoy. Then I filled up a two liter bottle full of powerade and left. As I walked out I saw a homeless guy peeing in the corner and realized where the smell came from.

Wednesday, June 13, 2012. My buddy Paul P is a huge Mickey D's fanboy, and he said they had FRIED apple pies here -- they don't have that back in Cali anymore. I thought for a minute and could not recall having had a fried apple pie. I needed some coffee for a mid-day boost, so we decided to step into the long line. Being McDonalds, it moved pretty quickly. Of course, there were a lotta tourists at this location. I got really excited about the haupia pie, having loved haupia... Unfortunately, the haupia pie was a let-down. The coconut flavor just could not cut through the cinnamon crust... but the gooey apple goodness sure did. The deep-fried apple pie did hit the spot. I wouldn't say I'm as big a fan as Paul P, and wouldn't know when the McRib is making a comeback. But I will make an effort to stop by McDonalds in every country I visit to see their specialty items. Yea, it's fast food, it's quick, and if you have a the Asian metabolism, that 400-calorie item is "just a snack." I'll have to come back and try the spam and Portugese sausage! Tip: Keep your sunglasses on so you don't accidentally check out a girl to realize she's there meeting her high school friends and you are caught as that creeper/pedophile. Paul P, not me, I swear.

Hearing about all the hype of having to get McDonald's when we visit Hawaii, my boyfriend and I decided to give the breakfast plate a try! We had spam, Polynesian sausage, rice, eggs and a side of the coconut pie! I have to admit, there is nothing special to the food. The sausage was dry. Best part of the meal was the pie. This McDonald's is very packed due to the location. It is right in the strip where most tourists are!
(3)Jaimie M.
They are SUPER sweet for making a total of 50 Haupia pies for us (to take home to our families) even though we waited there for almost 2 hours they still were able to make the pies for us.
(5)Harsha G.
Canoeing across the road can make you really hungry! We walk into this McD and get dazed by the long lines and then request a veggie burger (yes, they don't have one :() and what they offer is a burger without a patty which however includes 2 slices of cheese and some tomato and lettuce. The bun is so tiny that you are done eating in two bites and did I mention they forgot our order for fries. We realized that if God forbid you are vegan/vegetarian and hungry, all you can eat here are the salads without the meat. Got myself a southwest salad and you may not believe it but it was watery and the salad was soggy!!!! I understand this is a hot spot and the staff may not be able to take orders right or remember them, but one can't go wrong with a simple salad.
(1)Jason P.
How long does it take to make a small oreo mcflurry after ordering? 7 minutes. At least 8 other people who ordered after me got their food, shakes, mcflurries etc before i did. In a mildly busy McDonald's this is unacceptable. I was literally the last person standing there waiting to get my order.
(1)Nanea L.
I'm always at this McDonalds due to the closeness&convience of it being sooooper close to my job. Most of the time I forget my lunch at the crib, so I hit it up for $1 chicken sandwhiches, cheeseburgers, hamburger, or small fries. Being the broke, single, independant bitch that I am hahaha I hate hella wasting denero on food exspecially McDonalds. :p Plus, the McDonalds in Waikiki are slightly pricey....why you ask? In the value meals they reluctantly leave out after approaching the cash register that ALL VALUE MEALS* except breakfast comes with a dam side of Pineapples! If you want your value meal to be slightly cheaper, tell them to leave those pineapples OUT! Haha Also like what I mentioned earlier, the McChicken Sandwhiches, Cheese Burgers, Hamburgers, & Small fries are the only $1 items and its not even listed on the menu, so you have to tell/ask them homies! The service is whatever, at least their fast. They try&fool you with the "Aloha" & by writing your name down for your order somewhat like a boot leg Jamba Juice/Starbucks. Whilst 99.9% of their employees are FOBs & cannot spell. On 8 different occassions these MFers spelt "Jen" wrong, the easiest name in the book. Bwahahaha
(4)Krysten I.
I love McDonald's, and this location has lived up to my expectations. Things may be a bit more pricy and the happy tourists will enjoy the pineapple that is served with meals in the Waikiki locations (dear happy tourists, yes, Hawaii McDonalds' do have spam for breakfast! Try it!! Its amazing). The servers here were friendly enough and gave me extra sauce without a second thought. It is clean and close to the beach!!
(4)Asha S.
Though I usually avoid fast food joints and franchises in general when I travel, this was one we we actually planned for (like every good tourist). Two glorious words: HAUPIA PIE We also tried the spam thing - meh. I can handle spam musubi, but as for the rest.... once is more than enough, thank you. We ended up stopping at 3 other McDonald's throughout Hawai'i - and only because the boy fell completely in lust with those haupia pies. (And, mind you, he wasn't much of an eater back then.) ... and now, I crave a haupia pie.
(4)Mac J.
Great place for early morning grinds along Waikiki beach after a late night out. Too bad there's no restroom for customers. It's not as bad as a sit-down coffee shop with no restroom.
(2)Huy P.
Seriously?!...a McDonald's review? They serve spam and rice here for breakfast! Nuff said. Also tried the Haupia Pie, similar to the apple pie, but with coconut type filling. Kind of bland, but worth a try once. p.s. Their meals cost in the range of $8-$9.
(3)Sierrah I.
I've tried to ban fast food from my tummy as much as possible, but every once in a while the other half craves his Chicken Nuggets or Quarter Pounder and I am forced to watch him consume what I wish I could. That doesn't mean I don't sneak a few fries in, (oh mcdonalds, why are your fries so good..??) and feel very guilty afterwards.. But what gets me the most is Football Season. Big Mac Mondays. Buy a Big Mac Meal, get a Big Mac free. Ahhhhhhhh I die. I loved Big Macs. A #1 with a fruit punch was my favorite thing to order. That sauce. OHh memories.. :/
(4)Jonn D.
Rating: 2/5 Date visited: 9/15/2011 Food: 3/5 Service: 2/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 Price: 2/5 Parking: 1/5 Buyer Beware: Check your receipt after you have paid for your order. They slipped some pineapple with my order and charged me $1.59 for it. I should have been more aware of my order. I won't be back. Food: The same from any other McD's. Service: I didn't like the fact that this location added "Pineapple" to my order, and charged me for it. Atmosphere: I love "By the Beach" locations. Price: Holey Cow! Skip this location. Tourist Trap. Parking: None
(2)Jay W.
A review for McDonald's? Yawn? No way, breakfast at McDonald's in Hawaii is the best! Forget about those lame McMuffins and hash browns back on the mainland. They have Spam and eggs on rice with shoyu sauce and pineapple chunks on the side! Mmm.... McSpam....
(3)Bill J.
I love McDonald's but I think the employees at this location get overwhelmed at times when it is busy. TWICE they have forgotten to put the chicken on my chicken sand which. Everything else was there except the most important part of what makes it good! Another time they forgot the middle-bun on my Big Mac, so essentially i just paid 4 bucks for an overpriced double cheeseburger. When they do get the order right, I cant complain, its delicious. I'm not saying "Don't go to this place," but if I were you I would check your order before leaving the restaurant to make sure it is correct!
(2)Janet E.
Two words. Taro pie. Its so freakin delicious!!! But you cant go wrong with anything fried. What makes it even better is that its only $1!!!!! Needless to say I ate a lot of these.....
(4)Cherryl D.
My Ratings: Quality - 4 Stars Quantity - 4 Stars Price - 4 Stars Location - 4 Stars Service - 3 Stars Speed - 3 Stars My Opinion/Story: Second day in Waikiki and we need breakfast before hitting the swap meet. Ofcourse we had to go to McDonald's to grab some of their local meals. Ordered their spam, portugese sausage, rice and egg breakfast meal. It was really good and this just hits me to the reality that I'm finally in Hawaii. No matter what others say, this is good breakfast for those on a budget. Very filling and this location gives alot. A little difficult trying to get them to give us more condiments but overall, we're there for the food not for the service. Too bad we didn't get to try the other local delicacies but for sure we'll come back for more.
(4)BERT O.
I avoid McDonald's as much as I can, but at times they're my favorite place to eat on a budget. I definitely wanted to try and see if this is different than in VA. I was very much impressed with the breakfast menu having Spam, Portuguese sausage and rice. What a great idea! Anyways, as a vegetarian who eats eggs and fish every once in a while I went for lunch. I got two filet-o-fish, some fries, and of course I had to try the taro pie. The filet-o-fish tasted a bit better to me. But the pie was amazing. Not overly sweet, just a soft delicious taste with a nice crunchy outside. Also, they gave us a small container of pineapple with our order.
(4)Dee L.
My ultimate goal in Hawaii was to try the taro pie. Utterly disappointed that the promotion was over when I arrived, such horrible timing. Aside from the typical McD's items, they have teriyaki burger and according to my dad it's pretty much the burger slapped with teriyaki sauce. Fried apple pies. I love them fried--McDs does it so well. The last place in the bay area that had them were the McDs in Eastridge and then there were none. Oh how I missed them and reconnected with them here in Hawaii. It's been so long. Crispy outside crust oozing with hot apples sauce and chucks of apples. They had interesting breakfast items with rice, eggs, spam, and portugueses sausage. Didn't feel the need to try it. I did try the saimen. For $3 it's not too bad coming from McDs. The soup and noodles are kind of bland. I considered it a lighter version of cup o noodles.
(3)Jeff H.
I've never been to a McDonalds that is in a better location than this one. You can't beat right across the street from a Hawaiian beach. I only went here in the morning on my final day in Honolulu. I was eager to see what they would have on the menu given McDonalds typically has a few local flavors on the menu beyond the usual in various states and countries. As soon as I saw a combination breakfast with Spam (I'm a fan), Rice, Pineapple and Eggs...I knew what I was getting. It was surprisingly a large quantity of food. As soon as I received my order I headed directly across the street to consume it. It was the best McDonalds experience I've had to date. The Hawaiian scent, my scent (Banana Boat Sunscreen), decent food, warm sand, beautiful water, and a gentle breeze...aaahhhhhhhh...
(4)Michael J.
Wow what can I say, but awesome. Where else in the world can you still find McDonald's fried apple pie? Why, here at the McDonald's at Waikiki Beach of course. I came here one day just to see what the menu was like and it's similar to that here in SF, but there are a a couple of differences. I got two of the things that were different like getting Saimin, which is a hawaiian ramen-like soup and fried apple pies. Oh how I love McDonald's now, but just this location because they have my fried apple pies. *** If you don't know what I mean by fried apple pies take a look at the picture I posted, just makes me salivate, I remember as a kid burning the roof of my mouth as it came out hot and fresh ***
(4)Sean B.
Pineapple slices with every value meal. Busy enough that the food doesn't sit so it's fresh and tasty... and OMFG... taro pies! I'm back on the mainland and craving the hell out of one of those right now... Win.
(5)Pete S.
No, I didn't do the touristy thing and had the pies. Instead, got filet o fish and small fries for $5.02. Quick snack but not so quick for the line since this place is always crowded. They have a cool McDonalds' surfboard on the wall here.
(3)Bennett W.
This is the McDonald's I went to back in summer 2007 during my vacation in Honolulu. It is located along a corridor of shopping malls, close to Waikiki Resort and Kuhio Beach Park. Definitely a nice spot for that quick grub! Overall, positive first experience here!
(5)Jessica C.
Cheapest place to eat with an ocean view.
(3)Amanda J.
Dear McDonalds Hawaii, Why didn't you have Haupia Pie? Why did you take the portuguese sausage mcmuffin off the menu. Yes the guy made me one (for the stars) but it were three little coins of meat and not that large 1/4 inch cut patty you used to have. Last time I went to Hawaii they used to have McRib too! Don't even get me started.
(2)Brandon B.
McDonald's review here we go! Kalakaua Ave version: Expensive for your average McDs. They give a complimentary pineapple pack with each value meal, which I wish they were more clear about and not have some random tourist bitch and complain that he/she did not order it even though it was free. I do miss the original dollar menu, but they are there even though its not displayed and not really a dollar anymore.
(3)Dennis M.
I go here only to buy things for other people. Staff our somewhat courteous, but others are non train or new. big turnover I guess. Prices are very cheap, is why McDonalds is always popular. 1.29 for a burger? wow but I would not eat it. I enjoy the ice cream cone once in a while.
(1)Bunny H.
Wow....this not a typical McDonald's that one may be use to back home. This place is great. Such quick service. A bit pricey, but then again what place isn't? I thought it was awesome that they serve rice, eggs, and spam for breakfast. And they even give you soy sauce!!! I wanted to try what the locals here ate and what we mainlandahs don't have. I can appreciate this. Enjoy your breakfast, brah!!!
(4)Lindsay C.
Who doesn't love delicious nuggets at good 'ol McDonald's. It's my favorite any time of day - yes well aware its not the healthiest but every now and then i need my Chicken McNuggets, fries and a coca cola classic. Open 24 hours you say??? What could be better... Well the amount of homeless people residing inside. Other than that its great! Oh yea- they do include Pineapple with most of their value meals and charge you for it - which I am not a fan of and always forget to ask for no pineapple....
(4)Jason E.
Pineapple slices with your Value Meal? That's just not right! Well, maybe it is because it's Hawaii. Even the trash cans say "mahalo" instead of "thanks." And this McDonalds is the only one I know with a beach and oceanfront view. Amazing. Four star dining right there.
(4)Myla P.
It's very weird to be reviewing a McDonald's, but the special menu items in Hawaii deserve it. Full disclosure, I am half Filipino, so one thing I have in common with the native Hawaiians is that I love spam. The only thing better than spam for me is the traditional breakfast of Spam, Eggs and Rice, served with a side of pineapple. I went to McDonald's twice during my stay on Waikiki to have this breakfast, and for $2.99 you really can't beat it, especially on a tourist trap. This is a great way to try a "local" dish without it costing too much, so definitely give it a try!
(5)Gil A.
Great for late night but I feel sorry for the employees that put up with packs of douchey haole kids. Spam and saimin served, wha?!
(3)Greg D.
Certainly one of the nicest locations in the world for some of the the most processed food offered in the world. I was shocked to see that they offer a menu item the same as in Japan, which they call a Portuguese sausage sandwich for breakfast. Portuguese sausage is actually known as Linguiça and is an extremely rare item in the US. It does make for a killer pizza topping yet as with most meats McDonald's it was so overprocessed I wouldn't call it Linguiça, nor meat really. But it tasted interesting.
(3)sonia g.
Its a great location right across from the beach, but its still mcd's. Expext to pay 9 dollars for big mac. Dont have many of the condimints as other mcd's. Just went in to stay away from the rain and bought a banana smoothi that was average!
(2)? ?.
Yes I gave McDonald's 5 stars! We walked in here and saw taro pie. I had to try one. OMG!!!! It was soooo good. I also want to try the Haupia pie. Reading other reviews, I now want to try the fried apple pie. I'm not too fond of the regular one. We tried their breakfast. Yummy! It comes with a huge side of fresh pineapple. I will have to stop at McDonald's the next time I'm here.
(5)A K.
Again no different then any other MD you have seen on main land, the main difference in the price and i was little surprised to see the price difference. I just tasted the ice cream cone here and it was fine. If you plan to eat here remember its not going to be same as of main land for the pocket, taste wise this should be same. enjoy.
(3)Izzy N.
Yeah I'm reviewing a Mcdonald's. If you gotta problem with it we can take it to the streets ya snob. The thing about Mcdonald's in Hawaii..having ethnic food on their menu. I'm not a fan of saimin but I'm a fan of portugese sausage with eggs and rice. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.. delicious to the Nth power. I'm not ok with taro pies though.. but Mcdonald's french fries..... will you..... will you marry me? I'm not gettin any younger and I'm sick of dating random Dbags. You're fantastic in every state I've encountered you... Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Michigan, Iowa, Nebraska, Tex-ass, Louisiana, etc.. I think John Mayer sang about you in, "Your body's a wonderland." That's you alright. It CANNOT be about some dumb slag.... duh. Don't be so stupid. It's all you Mcdonald's french fries. It's all you baby.
(4)Ed K.
banana pie... changed my life.. again. there is nothing like it, but i've experienced better.
(2)Jennifer T.
Fried apple pies, how I miss you, now that I'm back in the Bay. They should be offering the spam mcgriddles and haupia and taro pies year around though.
(3)Chris A.
So I made a late night stop at a McD's in Waikiki, for some Oreo Mcflurry. The Taro pie is back .. yes only in Hawaii. So I decide to try it. Well ... McD's should stick to their yummy sticky apple pies. I didn't like the Taro pie at all. With that experience, I opted not to try their other Hawaiian infused food.
(4)Michelle L.
everyone raves over the taro pie which is so so.. bring back the pineapple pie! it was so refreshing pineapple pie over taro pie and whichever else mcdonalds came up with
(4)Cupcake s.
Fried Apple Pies are must on my list. I like that they give you pineapples if you order a meal. Nice little treat. This McDonald's is a lot more expensive than others.
(3)Emmy D.
Girl repeats order, gets it right. Calls my order out, completely wrong. The manager got mad AT me. I ordered 2 apple pies and a 2 haupia pies but I got 4 coffees instead! Really? Didn't even bother to give me a receipt. And the girl that took my order and repeated it correctly denied that I got the wrong order! The cashier got so upset that I was holding up the line. If I got what my receipt should have said it wouldn't have happened. I should have gotten a receipt at all in the first place! Way to walk away from the register as soon as they grab the money. The stink-eyes were so uncalled for! Whatever, I love the chicken nuggets I don't care if the rumors say it's not even chicken LOL! 3.5 stars for the past experiences I've had that were average-good. The last time I went was absolutely terrible.
(4)Raquel U.
HAUPIA PIES. Fried the old fashioned way before McDonald's (well at least the ones here at home) decided to get all healthy and bake their pies. Let me just say it one more time... HAUPIA PIES. I think we had one everyday while we were there. How I miss them.
(5)Jennifer B.
So apparently I am not the only fan of the cult classic fried apple pies... I stopped in here to get some french fries with sweet and sour sauce... (I'm on vacation and I will eat what I want to damnit) When what to my wonderous eyes do appear, but a picture of a fried apple pie on the apple pie holder/dispensary. No it can't be true... I didn't want to get overly excited just to be disappointed! I ask the cashier..." Are your apple pies fried?" "They are?" "Two please!" And I lived happily ever after!
(5)david g.
Seriously... No restrooms!! At these prices and the amount of competitors surrounding you, I would at least have facilities for children! I left right away; I do not spend my money in places that can't even provide something as simple as a restroom. It speaks volumes about the level of service you provide! Seaside Café is just a bit down the street and serves breakfast much cheaper then this McDonalds
(1)Danny S.
Thats right! McDonalds with an ocean view! That's what I am talking about! Very close to the beach!
(4)Pedram M.
Yes, sometimes even a chain fast food joint (although tiny and not even a drive-thru) deserves four stars. Your orders are ready in a jiffy in a busy rush, they're not mixed up, and look for surprises on the menu you don't see just at any McDonald's (banana pie, fried!?). I'll be back on my next trip, even if it would have been a sin had I not known otherwise.
(4)Byoung Kyu S.
I would normally never write a review for a McD's but I do love the breakfast at McD's in Hawaii. My fav is the Hawaiian breakfast that comes with eggs, rice, spam, and portuguese sausage. I can't get enough of this stuff~! Only reason for this review not being 5 stars is the service. I'm not sure if it's just me, but the McD's in Waikiki seem to take forever to taek your order and prep the food. Maybe it's a Hawaii thing in general. But I sure do love my McD's Hawaiian breakfast. *DROOL*
(4)Keane L.
It's more expensive, but sometimes you just need some ice cream in the blistering heat. They made it nicer a few years back... They sell pineapple here :)
(4)Simon L.
I never review fast food restaurants, but this place just had such a great view! I mean, the food was all the same, like any other McD's I could go around the country, but the location was unbelievable! Right in front of Waikiki. 5 stars to them for landing such a hip location!
(5)Kristen S.
Pineapple, rice with your eggs, garbage cans that say "mahalo", and ice cream that just tastes better on Waikiki Beach. Honolulu, especially Waikiki, can get so expensive. There are some great affordable and even healthy options at McDonald's and you can just take your meal right across the street to the beach. You really can't beat THAT view.
(4)Rhia R.
Although it was just across the street from my hotel, I only visited this place twice during my trip. Some unique items on their menu are haupia (coconut) pies, breakfast plates with spam and portuguese sausage, and they give you a container of pineapple with their value meals. Having to eat your order while taking in the view of the beach isn't bad either.
(3)Hoa Q.
Thank goodness for McDonald's. When my bf and I saw how expensive all the sit-down meals were on Oahu, we ended up living off of haupia pies. This location is not as clean as the other locations on Oahu, but the Haupia pies here were one of the least expensive. For some reason, menu prices varied from McDonald's to McDonald's.
(4)andy s.
Dishonest business. Out of 4 times we ordered there, 2 times they missed at least one order. I know, it's a busy spot. But the question is where did my missing orders go? If they were honest mistakes, I should get both missing orders and additional(someone else's) orders. But no, only less not more.
(1)Brian L.
I had the spam, eggs and rice for $4 with an OJ. It's a nice bfast with cheap prices. Never much of a wait and plenty of tables to sit at.
(3)Veggie J.
okay, i must say, i thought i would NEVER EVER yelp mcdonald's. but this is an exception because...hawaii mcdonald's have TARO PIES! i don't ever go to mcdonald's, and i never set foot in this one, but my dad brought back a taro pie, which was ridiculously awesome. forget the typical mickey d's apple pie, this one has pretty purple TARO. i didn't eat anything else in this place, but i give it four stars for the awesome taro pie. one star off just 'cause it's mcdonald's.
(4)
